Nicole: Oh, gosh, I'm sorry.

Brady: Sorry. Hey.

Nicole: Hi. I can't talk.

Brady: Nicole, wait. Hold on a second.

Nicole: Please, just leave me alone.

Brady: What is wrong with you?

Nicole: E.J. Said I -- that I-I can't see you again.

Philip: Well, answering your own door. This must be important.

E.J.: Wow. You got here very quickly.

Philip: Well, your message intrigued me. Why was I summoned?

E.J.: Fuels project. Interesting diversion, but, uh, I don't really think it's going anywhere, so my company's no longer interested.

Philip: That's it? Game over, just like that?

E.J.: That's it. Game over, just like that.

Philip: What's the catch?

Will: Mom and dad fighting -- I guess nothing's changed, huh?

Sami: Will.

Lucas: Will, come here and give me a hug. Man, it's so good to see you. Come here.

[Groans]

Will: Sorry.

Lucas: That's all right.

Sami: I can't believe that you're back. This is -- this is too good to be true. You're here. You're back -- just the same time that I came back. I-I can't believe -- I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I know you hate it when I cry, but I've missed you so much. I-I missed you so much.

Will: I missed you, too, mom.

Victor: So, we see eye to eye about Chloe now, do we?

Kate: [Sighs] That gives you great satisfaction, I'm sure.

Victor: Well, I must say, it does make me feel, uh, vindicated. This revenge that you plan to serve up cold -- what exactly did you have in mind?

Kate: Well, my goal is very simple -- to cause deep psychological pain with lasting impact.

Victor: In other words, Chloe must suffer.

Kate: Like never before.

Maggie: Chloe.

Chloe: Hi. Is Allie ready?

Maggie: I just have to get the rest of her things together.

Chloe: Oh, well, let me help you.

Maggie: No, I prefer you wait here.

Chloe: Maggie, please, could we at least try to get along for Lucas' sake? I never meant for any of this to happen.

Maggie: You didn't mean to sleep with Daniel?

Chloe: Maggie, please. I just want to make Lucas happy, okay? And we can have the life that we've dreamed of if he doesn't find out what happened. It's all up to you.

Maggie: [Scoffs] To have so much power.

Chloe: Please. I beg you not to tell him anything. Don't break his heart again.

Sami: Look at you.

Lucas: Yeah, what happened? You get sick of skiing and snowboarding? That's why you decided to come home?

Will: It's 'cause I heard they were letting mom out of witness protection.

Sami: Oh, well, I'm so sorry that I-I didn't call you. They wouldn't let me talk to anyone.

Will: It's okay. Grandpa told me.

Sami: I'm glad he explained.

Will: He also said something about a gas explosion and that's why you're in the hospital.

Lucas: Yeah.

Will: How'd it happen?

Sami: Oh, let's not talk about that. Let's focus on the happy times.

Will: We can focus on it right now.

Sami: Will, it's just --

Will: It's just what? My dad almost died. I don't have a right to know why?

Maggie: Oh. So, I shouldn't break his heart again? I mean, after all, I am the one who hurt poor Lucas.

Chloe: What I meant --

Maggie: I don't give a damn what you meant. You are the one who betrayed Lucas, Chloe.

Chloe: Maggie, my only concern is making a life for Lucas -- loving him and making him happy. Isn't that what you want for him, too?

Maggie: So you're saying that the woman who cheated on him, lied to him, continues to lie to him can make him happy? Don't you think Lucas deserves better than you?

Kate: So, you'll help me achieve my goals?

Victor: I will clear my schedule.

Kate: Excellent. But before I share my new take on Chloe with Lucas, I have to find a way to distract him from her. That way, when I drop the bomb on him, he won't be so humiliated, so hurt.

Victor: What sort of a distraction did you have in mind?

Kate: Well, it's not what. It's whom. I have to find him a -- a new woman -- a more suitable mate.

Victor: An inflatable sex doll should fit that bill.

Kate: [Chuckles] You are so bad.

Victor: And so are you, I'm delighted to say. The old Kate is back.

Kate: No, victor. The Kate who defends her children, the Kate who will go to war with anyone who betrays them in any way, never left.

[Footsteps approach]

Stefano: Good evening.

[Exhales deeply]

Kate: Hello, Stefano.

Stefano: My lucky day -- running into the lovely Kate Roberts, huh? Mind if I join you?

Victor: Get out of my sight, DiMera. You're not welcome here.

E.J.: There's no catch. My primary focus right now is my family -- that means my fiancée and my child. I don't want them getting caught up in some stupid blood feud between warring families.

Philip: I have to tell you, I'm a little offended by what you're insinuating, DiMera. Why would I hurt your damn family? Nicole happens to be a friend of mine.

E.J.: Well, not anymore, she's not.

Philip: [Chuckles] What, do you get to choose her friends now?

E.J.: Philip, Nicole is a little bit too softhearted and trusting. Therefore, for her own good, I advised her to stay away from people who aren't worth her time or attention. You know, people who suck the life out -- you know the type.

Philip: I'm looking at the type.

E.J.: Well, you stay away from her. I'm not going to tell you again.

Brady: You are kidding, right?

Nicole: Brady, please, don't question this.

Brady: "Don't question this"? E.J. Has no right to tell you who your friends are.

Nicole: E.J. Is the man that I love.

Brady: [Exhales sharply] You are seriously scaring me right now.

Nicole: E.J. Makes me happy, and I want him to be happy.

Brady: Are you listening to yourself? "E.J. Makes me happy." I mean, you sound like a Stepford wife. Nicole, what happened to the tough, brainy woman that used to be one step ahead of E.J. all the time? Why are you cowering like this? Tell me what E.J. Has done to you.

Nicole: I am not cowering, and this is not E.J.'S fault. There's a lot you don't know.

Brady: Then please me, damn it. Nicole, what's going on?

Nicole: Philip knows we're keeping a secret from E.J.

Brady: What do you mean? A-about the baby?

Nicole: No. No. Thank God.

Brady: Then what does Philip think that we're hiding from him?

Nicole: [Sighs] It's crazy.

Brady: Tell me.

Nicole: Philip saw us together -- you and me. He thinks we're having an affair.

[Exhales sharply]

Brady: [Exhales sharply]

Nicole: And he wants the fuels project back from E.J., So he's blackmailing me, and he said if -- if I could find a way to persuade E.J. To relinquish the rights, then he won't --

Brady: Then he wouldn't tell E.J. about you and me?

Nicole: Right.

Brady: [Chuckles] Well, did it work? Did you persuade E.J.?

Nicole: Yeah. It wasn't easy. The project's yours.

Brady: Wow. It's good news for Titan.

Nicole: Yeah. You're welcome.

Brady: Let me get this straight. Philip is gonna keep his mouth shut about this hot affair that you and I are not having?

Nicole: Yes. But you have to keep your distance, and we can't take any more risks.

Brady: I'm sorry. What does that mean, exactly? Does that mean you don't talk to me anymore? Does that mean that you cut me out of your life, or -- or what?

Nicole: [Sniffles] That's exactly what I have to do, and not -- and not just for my sake and Sydney's, but for yours.

Philip: What kind of weird bargain are you driving here, DiMera? I get the fuels project on the condition that I never speak to Nicole again?

E.J.: However you look at it.

Philip: [Exhales sharply] I'm looking to ignore it. You don't get to choose who my friends are, and you don't order me around. You got that? I'm not afraid of you... or your father...or any DiMera.

E.J.: Okay. Then you're a bigger fool than I thought.

[Door locks]

Sami: Hey, so, why don't you tell me about Lugano? You were there visiting Grandma and john, right?

Will: [Sighs] Yeah. Carrie took me.

Sami: Great. I bet that was fun. Have you decided to stick around here for a while?

Will: I don't know.

Lucas: Well, however long you stay, you know, Chloe and I would love to have you stay at the cabin with us. You can also stay with your mother. It's up to you. You divvy up your time as you see fit.

Sami: No. You do, uh, whatever you want, will. It's totally your decision. If you want to stay with your dad at the cabin, I totally get it. It's fine.

Will: Are you still at the DiMeras?

Sami: No. No. I'm staying at your Grandma's townhouse with the twins, and there's plenty of room there. We have TV and -- and Wi-Fi.

Will: I don't know. This is kind of a tough decision.

Lucas: You know, why don't you just stay with your mom? It's fine with me, really.

Will: Are you sure?

Lucas: Yeah. I mean, you know, she's got the cable TV and the Wi-Fi. I don't know if I can compete with that. I think it would be good for your mom if she had all of her kids around right now.

Will: Mom? Are you okay?

Sami: I'm fine. I'm okay, really. It's just, um, it's just so amazing to see you and have you back. It's making me all crazy and emotional and everything, and... will, I-I just can't help it, sweetheart. I missed you. I missed you so much.

Will: It's kind of weird for me, too.

Lucas: It's very sweet. I hate it break it up -- it is sweet -- but you got to get Johnny before they close -- daycare.

Sami: Oh. Oh, my goodness. Of course. Um, yeah, I'll go get him. Hey, do you want to come with me, see your brother?

Lucas: Why don't you let the big guy stay up here for a while, okay?

Sami: Yeah. No, of course. Of course. Thanks, Lucas. I, um, I'll get your room ready, and I'll meet you at the townhouse later, okay?

Will: Okay.

Lucas: I'll try to get in touch with Chloe. I don't know where she is. She was supposed to come see me, and she never showed up. I wonder what's keeping her.

Chloe: Maggie, I'm not a religious person, but I've been praying lately, and I got a sign from God that Lucas and I belong together.

Maggie: Well, isn't that something? As busy as God is, he has time to give Chloe lane relationship advice.

Chloe: Please don't make fun of me. I know, with all the horror going on in the world, who I end up with or who I marry is of no real consequence, but something changed inside of me, okay? I felt it. I know that Lucas is my destiny.

Maggie: And you know this how?

Chloe: You just have to promise me. You can't tell him what happened between Daniel and me -- please.

Maggie: [Sighs] I hope I don't regret this.

Chloe: Does that mean --

Maggie: It means I won't say anything to him.

Chloe: Oh, my God. You don't know how much this means to me.

Maggie: Now, just get this straight. I'm not doing this for you. I am doing this for Lucas. The last thing I want to see is for him to start drinking again. So if keeping this little secret will prevent that, then I suppose I have no other choice.

Chloe: Thank you so much. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Nicole: I shouldn't even be here with you right now. You know what? I will write you. I will explain everything in an e-mail.

Brady: No. You're gonna tell me to my face. Why would you allow Philip to blackmail you, especially when we're not sleeping together?

Nicole: It doesn't matter. Don't you see? We share a secret, and if Philip tells E.J. That, he's not gonna stop poking around until he finds out the truth and then my life will be over.

Brady: You can't keep this up, all right?

Nicole: Hey... if I can convince E.J. To relinquish that damn fuels project, I can do anything. Philip's happy. I'm happy. Everyone's happy, happy, happy!

Brady: Are you?

Nicole: Yes! Yes. 'Cause I am so close to getting everything I ever dreamed of.

Brady: This is not just about you anymore. You have a daughter that you need to think about now. You need to think about what's best for both of you.

Nicole: I am. This is all for her. I am doing this for Sydney.

Brady: Nicole, what is gonna happen the next time that Philip decides to blackmail you or Dr. Baker, 'cause you know it's not gonna stop there? How many times are you gonna be willing to let somebody put the screws to you to keep this a secret?

[Knock on door]

Sami: Hi, sweetheart! Hi! Look how beautiful you are. Oh, I missed you so much! Oh! Hi, sweetie.

Chloe: Maggie fed her about an hour ago.

Sami: You know what? Your brother is here, too, and he actually already went to sleep, so you and me -- we're gonna pick out some stories, and we're gonna read together, and we're gonna hang out. I missed you so much. I promise you, I'm never gonna leave you again. I promise.

Chloe: Well, here's her bag, and I guess just call Lucas when you want me to pick her up again.

Sami: Um, actually, I talked to him, and she's gonna be staying with me for a little while. Isn't that gonna be fun? We're gonna hang out -- you and me. What do you think? And your pony -- I promise.

Chloe: Oh, my God. You had your baby.

Sami: Um...Chloe. Hey, sweetheart, let's go, all right? Let's go pick out some stories that I'm gonna read you, and we are going to hang out. Mommy needs to talk to Chloe for a second. Come on. Chloe, what the hell is the matter with you?

Chloe: What? I just noticed you're a lot trimmer.

Sami: Shut up, okay?

Chloe: It was a compliment.

Sami: Right. And I don't want compliments or anything from you, for that matter, so get out. Will's gonna be back soon.

Chloe: Oh, will's back?

Sami: Yeah. He's here, and you're not. Goodbye.

Chloe: Wow. Good to have you back.

Sami: You're right. This is about Grace, and I just want to do what's best for her.

Rafe: Well, that's exactly what you're doing. You're going home soon. You're gonna be with your family. You're gonna be the same great mother that you always were, and, you know, when the time is right, you'll bring little Grace home.

[Knock on door]

Sami: What now? I thought you --

Lucas: So, talk to me. Any cute snow bunnies over there in Switzerland?

Will: Maybe.

Lucas: Does she have a name?

Will: Oh, let's see. There was Heidi -- oh, and Martina -- can't forget about her.

Lucas: And Martina. Nice. That's my man. Check you out -- just like your old man. You're getting big, you know that? I can't believe how much you've grown up.

Will: Right. Except you and mom still lie to me like I'm a little 2-year-old or something.

Lucas: What do you mean, lie to you?

Will: What was it that mom didn't want me to know so bad? Why are you really in the hospital?

Kate: Victor, stop being so rude. You're embarrassing me.

Stefano: No need to be embarrassed, Kate, if Mr. Kiriakis prefers to act like an ill-mannered lout.

Kate: Stefano, please. Sit down.

Victor: Kate!

Stefano: Thank you.

Kate: What? What? Stefano's gonna join us. If you have a problem with that, then you should leave. Feel free.

Victor: I'm not going anywhere.

Stefano: Well, fine with me, because, unlike you, victor, I prefer not to hang on to petty grudges.

Victor: There is nothing remotely petty about what's going on, DiMera. You've authorized your son to commit corporate espionage.

Stefano: [Scoffs] Victor, come on. Victor, we have crossed paths too many times to even count. Friends, rivals, devoted fathers to family -- hmm? -- And children. You see, instead of all this petty arguing and this competitiveness, why don't we focus on what we have in common? A devotion to family.

Victor: I think I'm going to throw up.

Kate: Oh, stop it. Stefano is just trying to find a little common ground between the two of you. Behave.

Victor: And here I thought you wanted my help.

Kate: I do want your help, but not if you're going to be acting this way.

Victor: Do I not have the right to choose the company I keep?

Stefano: Oh, for goodness' sake, with all this barking, I haven't even asked you how you're doing, Kate, which is a lot more important than acquiring some overhyped business for our companies.

Kate: Well, thank you very much for asking. I am in remission. I just found out.

Stefano: How wonderful.

Kate: Thank you.

Stefano: Kate, you have made my day. You have made my year. I am so pleased for you.

Kate: Thank you.

Stefano: Well, this calls for a celebration, naturally, huh? The next round is on me.

Victor: I'd rather put a nail in my eye.

Nicole: I am part of a perfect family now. This is something I've been waiting for my whole life.

Brady: Really? You like feeling afraid? You like feeling terrorized? Does that turn you on?

Nicole: What?

Brady: Because when you told me that you couldn't see me anymore, I saw the look in your eyes. It was just panic. It was fear.

Nicole: No. That's -- that's not it. I-I just want you to stay away from me, for your sake... 'cause I know you could be happier.

Brady: Then you don't know a damn thing, because I am very happy right here. Can you say the same?

Sami: E.J.

E.J.: And Nigel.

Sami: Aha. Johnny was asking about him.

E.J.: It sounds very quiet in here. You telling me you actually got him to sleep without this fellow?

Sami: I did, um, but I'm sure it was just because he was exhausted from all the fun we had. Uh, do you -- you want to come in for a sec?

E.J.: Sure. So, how did you get these toys out to the twins, anyway?

Sami: A little bit of magic.

E.J.: Magic? Oh, okay. That's fine. I'm a big fan of magic.

Sami: [Chuckles] Yeah. Um, can I get you something? Some tea or water or something?

E.J.: I'm -- I'm fine. Um, I just wanted to say that, you know, if you want to keep Johnny for a few more days, it's fine with me.

Sami: Thanks. It's probably good for you, too, to, uh, have some time alone with your new daughter.

E.J.: Samantha, I don't need to, uh, get Johnny out of the house to spend time with Sydney. And let's, just to be clear -- I'm not saying you're suggesting it -- Johnny is never gonna be shunted aside for any reason.

Sami: I do know that. You're a good father, E.J. You always have been. It's not you I'm worried about.

E.J.: I know. I know. You don't like our son being in the same house as Nicole and my father. I get it.

Sami: You're right. I don't. But the truth is [Clears throat] It's obvious that he was really well cared for while I was gone. I mean, I know he missed me -- at least I persuaded myself of that -- but it's obvious that he was well loved.

E.J.: Samantha, you don't need to persuade yourself. I mean, I can tell you, you know? He missed his mother. When you were away, there was a certain sadness in his eyes.

Sami: You took great care of him, E.J. You're a great dad, and it's because you're so involved in his life and you let him know how much you care every day. I'm really grateful to you for that.

Lucas: I just, uh -- I made a bad decision. I did something I shouldn't have.

Will: What decision?

Lucas: Chloe and I -- we just hit a -- we hit a rough patch and she called off the wedding. And the next thing I knew, I was at the pub...

Will: Drinking?

Lucas: [Exhales deeply] Yeah, I was drinking.

Will: [Sighs] But you worked so hard to stay sober.

Lucas: I know, son, and it's -- it's not an excuse at all, all right? There's -- there's no excuse for it, but when you love a woman like I love Chloe, you know, and I thought I was gonna lose her --

Will: Did you, like, drink a lot?

Lucas: Yeah, I drank enough to get pretty sick. I had alcohol poisoning.

Will: Wow. So, the story about the gas explosion is --

Lucas: No, no. That happened. That happened, too. I'm just really sorry that I let you down. I'm sorry I let myself down. And I really hope that you're not sorry that you came home.

Philip: [Sighs] Hey, dad.

Victor: Where's today's mail?

Philip: It's right here.

Victor: I'll be in my office.

Philip: Hold on. I want to show you something.

Victor: Can't it wait, Philip? I'm tired.

Philip: I think you're gonna want to see this now.

Victor: What's this?

Philip: The alternative fuels plan. E.J. Relinquished it, thanks to me. I got Nicole to work on him.

Victor: Why would she do that, and why is it all in pieces?

Philip: Who cares? The point is it's all there -- no disks, no copies. That's it.

Victor: You're absolutely certain?

Philip: Everything has been destroyed. The ball is back in our court, where it belongs.

Victor: Good work, Philip.

Philip: I told you I wouldn't let you down.

Victor: And you didn't. The question remains -- how did it end up in E.J.'S hands in the first place?

Philip: Like you can't guess.

[Clears throat]

Victor: Melanie.

Philip: Mm-hmm.

Victor: But how did she manage it?

Philip: I don't know. Probably the old standbys -- blackmail, manipulation. Your guess is as good as mine.

Victor: I don't want to guess, Philip! I want to know! Find out... or find a new job.

Sami: Look at all this stuff. I have so much unpacking to do.

E.J.: Can I help you?

Sami: Oh, thanks, no. I'm cool. You know, I should probably go see to Allie. She's been by herself for too long.

[Chuckles nervously]

E.J.: Look, I, uh -- I know that coming home and seeing the kids has made you very emotional, but you also seem sad.

[Johnny crying]

Sami: Wow. You got this in the nick of time.

E.J.: Father, can you talk?

Stefano: What can I do for you?

E.J.: Oh. You're with somebody. I just wanted to let you know -- Philip Kiriakis took the bait.

Stefano: Excellent. Excellent.

E.J.: He thinks the fight is over. Little does he know. Call me back.

Sami: What to go see your daddy?

E.J.: Hi! Remember me? What have you been up to?

Nicole: Yes, I'm happy. I am fine. I'm on top of the world, okay? My life is perfect.

Brady: Nicole, if you have any doubts whatsoever about E.J., Then you should leave. You should do it now.

Nicole: Oh, my God.

Brady: You are the strongest, most independent woman that I know. And for you to stay with someone who -- who doesn't value you at all -- he -- he wants to run your life for you --

Nicole: E.J. Is the man I love. He is all I need.

Brady: Yeah, with E.J., You're never gonna have to make another decision in your life, because he's always gonna make them for you.

Nicole: That is not true.

Brady: And you know what? You should be on top of the world. My God. Sitting in that palace with your crown prince and his dysfunctional father, waiting for them to find out your secret.

Nicole: Brady, stop it!

Brady: And when they find out, your whole, little perfect life, Nicole -- it's gonna go up in smoke.

Philip: No wonder I have such a sense of security. I tell you something I worked my ass off to accomplish, and you threaten to fire me?

Victor: Can the self-pity, Philip, and get to the bottom of the E.J./Melanie connection -- now.

Philip: Now? It's after business hours. Can't it wait till morning?

Victor: This is about Stephanie, isn't it?

Philip: What are you talking about?

Victor: It didn't go well with her, did it?

Philip: I-I really don't feel like talking about her, okay?

Victor: What happened?

Philip: [Exhales deeply] Okay. You really want to know what happened? You want to know? Stephanie and I are done, and all because of the sacrifices I had to make on this project, and then you threaten to fire me? Gee.

[Glass pings, thuds] It's all worth it. I'm on top of the world, man. Never better.

[Bottle thuds]

[Glass thuds]

Stefano: You know... Caterina, you always look beautiful, but tonight -- I don't know -- this...sort of aura about you.

Kate: It's very lovely to be appreciated.

Stefano: You say that with a little reserve. Does that young doctor what's his name there -- Daniel -- doesn't appreciate you?

Kate: Mm. The doctor and I are no longer seeing each other.

Stefano: I'm sorry. And how about the guy with the nail in his eye here?

[Chuckles] Is he helping you to forget?

Kate: Victor and I are friends -- just friends.

Stefano: I see. Well, in that case, then perhaps you could, uh, take me up on that dinner we talked about at the auction. How about tonight?

Nicole: You know what? Even if E.J. Didn't want me to stay away from you, guess what. I would.

Brady: Why? Because I'm honest with you?

Nicole: No. Because you depress me and scare me.

Brady: You wouldn't be scared or depressed if you didn't believe I was right.

Nicole: E.J. Is being protective.

Brady: Protective? That's a great spin on that one, Nicole.

Nicole: You know what? It's more than -- than protectiveness. He loves me, and he said he has never felt this way about anyone else.

Brady: Really? Well, that's truly romantic, but the problem is the woman that he loves is some weird, submissive person who will do anything to please him, and that is not who you are.

Nicole: [Sighs]

Brady: Nicole, don't you know that you're worth being loved just for who you are?

Nicole: Yeah. Well, maybe I will know that... someday. And I'll have you to thank, huh? You and your little pep talks.

Brady: They're not pep talks. I think -- heck, I know -- that you are a really, really good person.

Nicole: Thank you. And just so you know... I am trying to feel... that I deserve some happiness. But it is just so hard when people around you want you to fail. They -- they want nothing more than to see you alone and miserable.

Brady: What people?

Nicole: Sami Brady, for one, who is at the top of that list now that she's back.

Brady: What?

Nicole: You didn't hear? Your lovely stepsister has shown her face in Salem again. Oh, yeah. And there will be a ticker-tape parade tomorrow -- whee!

Sami: E.J., I cannot believe how late it is. It is so past their bedtime.

E.J.: Uh, Johnny and I are pretty used to staying up and watching the late-night talk shows, aren't we, big fella?

Sami: Is that what you were up to while I was gone?

E.J.: That and a few other things.

Sami: Well, it sounds to me like I got back just in the nick of time. No late-night talk shows for you, buddy. Come on. It's time for bed. And I'm gonna have to find that book.

E.J.: Why don't we do this? I'm gonna take them through and read. No, I'm not gonna read them a bedtime story. I'll brush their teeth. You read them a story.

Sami: Well, just her. She needs to have her teeth brushed, if you don't mind.

E.J.: No.

Sami: I'll be right there.

E.J.: You ready? Choo-choo-choo!

[Telephone rings]

Sr. Theresa: Holy cross. This is sister Theresa.

Sami: Hi, sister. It's Sami. I'm so sorry to be bothering you like this.

Sr. Theresa: Oh, don't be silly. You can check on Grace as often as you like, dear.

Sami: Well, I just want you to give her a kiss good night for me and -- and tell her that I'm gonna be with her as soon as I can.

Sr. Theresa: Thank heaven. So, you've come up with a plan?

Sami: Yeah. I think I'm starting to figure one out.

Stefano: I'm not proposing marriage, Kate. Not this time. Just a quiet dinner for two.

Kate: I'll think about it.

Stefano: [Inhales, exhales deeply] Not bad. I mean, I was hoping for that, at least.

Will: I'm not sorry I came home. I-I really want to be here. I mean it.

Lucas: Good. I'm really glad, 'cause part of the reason why I'm telling you this, you know, about my drinking and everything, is so you don't end up where I am right now. You hear me?

Chloe: Will! Hey, I heard you were home. Come here. What's wrong?

Will: Nothing much. Just...my dad almost died and you're the reason.

Brady: So, Sami's back. When -- when did she get here? I mean, did you see her?

Nicole: Yes, and it was awkward and horrible. You know, I know exactly what's gonna happen. She's gonna push and push, and she's not gonna give up until she comes between E.J. and me.

Brady: If only.

Nicole: Great. Thank you for your support.

Brady: All right. Putting aside how I feel about E.J., why would you think that Sami, or any other woman, for that matter, would be able to just fly right in and steal your man?

Nicole: Because I -- because she's so...

Brady: Go on. Please.

Nicole: [Exhales deeply] Because I don't think I'm worthy of E.J. or anyone else.

Brady: You don't -- you don't look in the mirror and see how beautiful you are, do you? You don't see that you're smart and that you're funny... and that anytime you care about somebody, there isn't anything in the world you wouldn't do for them? You don't see that?

Nicole: You forgot the part about how I'm the biggest screw-up you've ever known.

Brady: You've been unlucky.

Nicole: Except to have a friend who...makes up stuff just to make you feel better.

Brady: I wasn't making any of that up, Nicole.

Nicole: Thank you for... being the best friend that I don't deserve.

Sami: [Exhales deeply] They're asleep. I'm probably gonna stare at them all night long.

E.J.: All right. Well, um, I should probably get going.

Sami: E.J... why are you here?

E.J.: I just came 'round to drop off Johnny's penguin, get him to sleep. What?

Sami: Um, I don't know. I guess I just think if you were really happy at home, you'd be there right now instead of here.

E.J.: Okay. Nicole and I aren't joined at the hip, you know?

Sami: Okay. You sure you're not...

E.J.: What? Come on.

Sami: Never mind.

E.J.: No, come on. Say it. What?

Sami: [Exhales deeply] Marriage is a really big step, and I just wondered if maybe you were reconsidering.

E.J.: Maybe I shouldn't marry Nicole. Yeah. I have an idea. What if I made her worst nightmare come true... and married you?

Chloe: I don't think that you have to worry about Sami or that baby ever again.

Will: Let's talk about what you don't want to talk about -- mom and E.J. Is something going on between mom and that jerk?

Sami: Why would I possibly be jealous?

E.J.: Because Nicole has me and you don't.
