[Cellphone rings]

Nicole: Hello?

Mia: Nicole, it's Mia. I know you said never to call again, but I need to talk to you about my baby.

Bo: Hey, fancy face. What's going on? Why haven't you returned my calls? Hope, what?

Hope: For the same reason I'm not living at home. I can't deal with what happened, what I did...what you did, what you didn't do.

Bo: We're gonna have to talk about this at some point.

Hope: But not now. God, Bo, I don't know. Maybe not for a long time. Maybe never.

Steve: Kayla, what are you doing?

Kayla: I-I-I've got to get to the courthouse. I have to testify at hope's hearing.

Steve: No, no, baby. You can't do that. You're in no condition.

Kayla: No, I can, and I have to. I have to make things right.

Philip: Where are you going? You just got here.

Melanie: [Chuckles] I figured the last person you'd want to see here is me, so go back to your girlfriend.

Philip: What are you doing, Melanie?

Melanie: I'm not doing anything. Alth-- I am a little bit bummed, but then again, who wouldn't be after just losing their job?

Philip: You were stealing the patent designs, remember?

Melanie: Philip, stealing is such a strong word, considering they were mine to begin with.

Philip: You are so full --

Melanie: Okay, Philip.

[Clears throat] I'm aware we went to war and I lost, okay? But that doesn't mean I want to sit around and watch you rub my nose in it. Catch my drift?

Philip: You've done something.

Melanie: Me?

E.J.: Harold, are you sure? Well, then, the first half of the formula is workable. Excellent. Thank you. I'll be in touch. Thank you, Melanie.

Mary: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know anyone was in here.

E.J.: Um, no, it's...quite all right, Mary. You do whatever you need to.

Mary: Congratulations on your wedding plans, Mr. DiMera. The staff is buzzing.

E.J.: Are they? [Chuckles] Uh, could you please move all of my things back in here?

Mary: Oh, yes, sir.

[Door closes]

E.J.: We are supposed to be a family. So it's about time we started acting like one.

Mia: Nicole...you there?

Nicole: Mia.

Mia: Hi. Yeah, it's me. Um, I'm backstage at the theater and only have a minute. I just wanted to know about my baby. Tell me how she is, okay?

Nicole: Please, Dr. Baker, don't make this any harder for me than it already is. Let me take Sami's baby and you can have Mia's.

Mia: Nicole, tell me how she is.

Nicole: Actually, uh, I can't do that.

Brady: Listen, if you go near Nicole one more time, I'm gonna break your freakin' neck! You understand? Do you understand what I'm saying, doc?

Dr. Baker: Yes, I understand.

Brady: You get it? No more money, all right?

Dr. Baker: Yes, no more money.

Brady: No more threats, right?

Dr. Baker: I swear.

Brady: You swear. Good, I'm glad you swear. It's a good promise to make, 'cause your life depends on it. What? What? What's with the look, huh? What?

Dr. Baker: I just didn't realize you were still so involved. I didn't think anybody else knew the whole truth about what Nicole had done.

Brady: What you both had done. You were in this up to your eyeballs, doc.

Dr. Baker: Actually, things that I wanted no part of.

Brady: Like what?

Dr. Baker: Look, the fact is, I never would have done some of the things that Nicole insisted if I wasn't forced to --

Brady: Uh, you know what? Shut up. Shut the hell up, man. You're just as guilty as she is.

Dr. Baker: Yes, but what I was talking about was when Nicole decided what baby --

Brady: Don't give me -- you know what? Just stop with the crap, all right? I know that you were very helpful in getting that baby taken away from Mia. Yeah, that's right -- Mia. You didn't think I knew about her? You're a long way from innocent, doc. And if you want to count all those babies that you sold during the past --

Dr. Baker: I understand my position.

Brady: Good, then back off of Nicole. It's that simple.

Dr. Baker: Okay, I will. Why do you care so much? Why do you seem to be so... concerned about her?

Nicole: Mia, are you still there?

Mia: Yeah. Yeah, I am. I just -- I-I don't understand. That's so weird. Why can't you tell me about my baby?

Nicole: Because, sweetheart, she's not your baby anymore. I thought you understood that.

Mia: I do. I just -- I think about her a lot.

Nicole: I know, honey, but that's not healthy.

Mia: I know, I know, but it's just some nights I can't stop crying.

Nicole: Mia, listen to me -- you have to be strong and brave for the baby's sake.

Mia: But I just --

Nicole: No buts. Now, I'm gonna make myself as clear as possible. Do not call here again, ever. That means never again.

E.J.: Hey. Who are you talking to?

Steve: Sweetness, listen to me -- you're still weak. You're in pain. Now, come on.

Kayla: Bo and hope are separated. Do you know that?

Steve: I know that.

Kayla: So -- so if I testify, if I go tell the board that I understand why hope fired her gun, maybe they'll be lenient on her, maybe they'll let her keep her job, and maybe Bo and hope will stay together.

Steve: That's a whole lot of maybes.

Kayla: Look, this is important to me. Are you gonna help me or not?

Bo: Hope, come on. You don't mean that. This isn't gonna last forever.

Hope: You had a vision of me shooting Kayla. Brady, I told you from the beginning that I believed in everything that you saw. But what, you decide that this one particular vision that involved our family -- me -- you kept it to yourself.

Bo: And I explained why -- look, I screwed up.

Hope: But the reason I'm here today is because of my screw-up. I love being a cop, but after today, I don't think I have a job.

Bo: Hope, we'll take care of that. We'll think of something. I promise.

Hope: You promise. Promises -- they don't mean much when you don't keep them.

Bo: I'm sorry.

Hope: Yeah, I'm sorry.

Roman: Hey, you two.

Abe: Hope, Bo...are we interrupting?

Hope: No, we're finished.

Brady: What kind of question is that anyway? I'm a friend of Nicole's. We go back a long way.

Dr. Baker: Just asking.

Brady: Well, that's funny. You don't have a right to ask anything, so just get out of her life, stay out of her life. Is that clear to you?

Dr. Baker: Yeah, that's clear. And you should, too.

Brady: What do you mean by that? I happen to know that she's a really good person.

Dr. Baker: Is she?

Brady: Yeah, she is. And she's got a good heart. And you need to stay the hell away from her.

Dr. Baker: [Chuckles] You're obviously willing to believe every lie that woman's -- when it comes to Nicole walker, you, sir, are not blind. You're a fool.

Brady: [Chuckles]

Nicole: [Scoffs] Honestly, whatever happen to cellphones being private? How a telemarketer got this number is beyond me.

E.J.: Well, I think perhaps he got the message. Let me see -- "don't call here again, ever. That means never again."

Nicole: [Chuckles] Yeah, well, I can be one tough cookie.

E.J.: Well, all right, tough cookie, don't be too tough on me. I have to go out to a meeting. I'm really sorry. I know we were supposed to prepare the wedding, but this is pressing.

Nicole: Okay. Well, I'll just spend some one-on-one time with Sydney.

E.J.: Okay. Thank you for making me very happy today.

Nicole: The bride-to-be is happy herself.

E.J.: All right, I'll be back soon, okay?

Nicole: Bye.

[Cellphone rings] Mia, look, I can't talk right now.

Mia: I was hoping you would call me back.

Nicole: Don't you get it? E.J. Is here. If he overhears --

Mia: You know, sometimes when I talk to you, it's like you're the nicest person.

Nicole: Mia, I have to go.

Mia: And then other times, I think you're not really nice at all. It's like you're faking it or something.

Nicole: What? No.

Mia: It's -- just something's not right.

Nicole: Mia, don't say that.

Mia: And you know what? I'm thinking maybe I should come home...and take my baby back.

Philip: What have you done, Melanie?

Melanie: What have I done? Let's see -- I've taken a long, hard look at everything that's happened and I realized that I've learned some very valuable lessons from you.

Philip: Answer my question.

Melanie: Think about it. I've let you take advantage of me twice now. And when I finally decided to fight back, I lost everything.

Philip: If you don't tell me what the hell you're up to, I swear to God --

Stephanie: Hey! Hey, is everything okay?

Philip: No. She is incapable of telling the truth. I don't know what you're up to...

[Cellphone ringing]

Melanie: Hold that thought. Hello?

E.J.: Melanie -- E.J. DiMera.

Melanie: Hey.

E.J.: Listen, I, uh, checked on your work for the alternative-fuels project, and, uh, came through -- 100%.

Melanie: Max, that is awesome. I'm so proud of you.

E.J.: You can't talk.

Melanie: No way.

E.J.: Okay, why don't we meet down by the pier, first warehouse? We'd like to cement things.

Melanie: You got it. I'll see you soon. I've got to go.

Philip: Where?

Melanie: Philip, we don't work together anymore. You fired me and told me I was a piece of trash, so please excuse me if I don't want to share personal details with you anymore. Bye.

Philip: That little bitch.

Stephanie: She's just trying to provoke you, okay? And doing an awesome job of it, I might add. She -- this is payback.

Philip: Mnh-mnh. It's more than that. Hey. Where you just on the phone with your sister?

Max: Uh, well --

Chelsea: We were outside talking.

Philip: Damn it.

Max: What's Philip's problem?

Chelsea: Yeah, why is he stressing out about Melanie?

Stephanie: It's just stuff.

Max: Stuff, huh? Fine. Whatever. You guys want a couple of drinks or something?

Chelsea: Yeah, that's a good idea. Um, I'll have a diet anything is fine.

Stephanie: Yeah, uh, me too. Please.

Chelsea: Okay, so, what's going on?

Stephanie: Oh, it's Philip. He's just been really, really strange lately -- cold, cruel, and it's all about Melanie.

Chelsea: Cruel how?

Stephanie: Punishing her. Trying to wreck her life and getting a kick out of doing it, although he'd never admit it.

Chelsea: Well, I heard he fired her from Titan and locked her out of the building.

Stephanie: Yeah, well, it goes deeper than that. It just -- we just started to get really close.

Chelsea: Yeah, it seemed that way.

Stephanie: And then I realized there's this pattern -- Melanie ticks him off and then he becomes a completely different person.

Chelsea: Well, maybe you guys just need to talk through it. That's all.

Stephanie: We've tried, but that doesn't even solve the problem. There's still this other side of him that's so vicious.

Chelsea: Well, it's just with Melanie, right?

Stephanie: Yes. Always back to Melanie.

E.J.: Melanie.

Melanie: E.J., You made it.

E.J.: Yeah. Good to see you.

Melanie: Good to see you. I hope the formula I wrote out worked.

E.J.: Uh, yes. A photographic memory. That's quite impressive.

Melanie: Comes in handy when you're counting cards at a casino. Not so great when they catch you, though.

E.J.: No, I'd imagine not.

Melanie: What's this?

E.J.: Well, we at DiMera enterprises would very much like the rest of that formule.

Melanie: "Formule." I like that. You British men. Wow. But, uh, I'm not gonna be able to get the other half until we have a deal in writing.

E.J.: That's fine. I'll have the lawyers draw up something in the morning.

Melanie: Okay.

E.J.: Uh, may I ask you a question, miss Layton?

Melanie: Sure.

E.J.: Why did you decide to leave Titan? What changed your mind? Was it Philip Kiriakis?

Melanie: [Chuckles] Well, doesn't matter, does it? I mean, just because I bailed on Titan doesn't mean I'm gonna bail on you guys. It's not like it's all about loyalty, right?

E.J.: Oh, I care very much about loyalty, miss Layton... especially when it's to me.

Nicole: Mia, listen to me -- that kind of thinking will only cause you pain. The baby is with me now in a loving and warm environment. You need to think about yourself and -- and your wonderful dancing career.

Mia: Actually, my career's not going so well. The only thing I could get was this backup job at a nightclub in Tokyo.

Nicole: But you just got there. You've got to give yourself a chance. You can do it.

Mia: I don't know.

Nicole: Mia, you have got to let go. That little girl that you gave birth to and gave to me, she is going to be happy, and she wants you to be happy, too. So no more calls. She'll thank you someday. Goodbye, Mia. Like I need this.

[Doorbell rings] Like I need this. Brady.

Brady: What really went down with you and that doctor? What did you two do that I don't know about?

Roman: Detective Brady discharged her weapon when she determined it was necessary to do so. The suspect grabbed the hostage to use as a shield, resulting in the wounding of that hostage.

Abe: Who is recovering quite nicely, I might add. Another point in detective Brady's favor --

Thank you. We've heard enough, commander, Mr. Mayor. The facts are established. We'll call our next witness now.

Commissioner Bo Brady.

Commissioner, we understand you arrived on the scene before the shooting.

Bo: Yes, sir.

Please describe the situation as you saw it unfold.

Bo: When I arrived on the scene, the man who assassinated mayor Marino had Dr. Johnson in a military choke hold -- could have ended her life at any moment. Detective Brady only had an instant to decide her course of action.

We understand that, commissioner.

The only question before this hearing is, did detective Brady disregard regulations when she fired her weapon?

In this type of hostage situation, did the rules allow her to fire at will or not?

We need an answer, commissioner.

Bo: The regulations regarding the discharge of a firearm in a hostage situation, as you know...require the direct verbal command of the ranking officer on the scene.

And did detective Brady receive such an order? Yes or no, commissioner?

Bo: No. She did not.

You make this admission even though the officer in question is your wife. Commissioner.

Bo: Yes.

Melanie: Okay, so, this injunction Philip got, it can't last long, right?

E.J.: No, don't worry about that. Our lawyers will get it dismissed.

Melanie: Make sure anything your people do stays way in the background.

E.J.: My dear, they will be like invisible hands in the night.

Melanie: Okay, good. And nobody should know you have a head start on all of this.

E.J.: No, no, no, no. Now, what about, uh...you? Any leaks on your end?

Melanie: What do you mean?

E.J.: Well, surely somebody helped you gather all of this information.

Melanie: Well, yeah, but he doesn't know it.

E.J.: How in the world did you manage that?

Melanie: I'm very smart.

E.J.: That you are, miss Layton. That you are. [Clears throat] Well...I will be in touch.

Melanie: You got it.

Philip: Now, why am I not surprised?

Bo: I'd appreciate it if you'd hear me out on this. Detective Brady has been an outstanding member of the Salem P.D. For years. She has an impeccable record.

Commissioner Brady, that's all. Any testimony unrelated to the charge is irrelevant. At this time, we would like to thank all three of you gentlemen. We'll now proceed to our deliberations.

Roman: What, that's it? No more witnesses?

You will please leave the room, gentlemen. There is nothing else to be heard.

Kayla: That's not true. I'm here to testify on hope Brady's behalf. And I will be heard.

Stephanie: It just freaks me out, you know? Turns into this guy I never knew existed.

Max: All right, two sodas. Get them while they're wet.

Chelsea: Thank you.

Stephanie: Thanks.

Max: So, I get back and no one's talking. Great. What, now you want me to get some chips or something?

Stephanie: No, you know what? I got to go make a phone call. I'll be back.

Chelsea: She's just upset.

Max: Yeah, you think? And let me guess -- it's Melanie's fault. 'Cause Melanie turned sweet little Philip into a great big son of a bitch.

Chelsea: Hey, Max, there's no point in going there, okay?

Max: Do you want to be on Stephanie's side, blame everything on Melanie? That's fine, great. But the only one screwing up Stephanie's life is Philip.

Philip: Should I take a wild guess at what's going on here?

E.J.: Nothing out of the ordinary, Philip.

Philip: When it looks like a crime and smells like a crime, it usually is a crime.

E.J.: Well, I hardly think that my meeting with miss Layton is to be considered a crime.

Philip: Industrial espionage is a crime. Stealing proprietary information is a crime.

E.J.: Auto theft is a crime. What's your point?

Philip: She tried to steal corporate secrets. Now she's talking with you.

E.J.: Well, if you think a crime is being committed, I supposed you should probably call the police. And you can look as much a fool in their eyes as you do in ours. No? Okay. Well, if you'll excuse me, I have my young daughter to go and see. Miss Layton, can I offer you a lift?

Melanie: I'll be fine.

E.J.: Good day, Philip.

Melanie: Bye. So, is there anything you need to say to me, Philip?

Philip: Yeah. Huh?

Melanie: [Chuckles]

Nicole: What in God's name is wrong with you, Brady? I didn't ask you to go see baker. I didn't ask you to threaten him.

Brady: I saw that look in your eye when you begged me for $10,000, okay? I know you've been a wreck for weeks. I figured somebody had to get him off your back.

Nicole: I can handle him, and I paid you back the money already. Didn't -- didn't that make a difference at all? Why don't you just stay out of it?

Brady: No, no, it's a little too late for that.

Nicole: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Baker knows that you know he sells babies? I wanted you kept out of this. Look, everything was working perfect for me.

Brady: You see? What the hell does that mean? What was working perfectly?

Nicole: Stay away from baker. I mean it.

Brady: No. No. No, I'm not. There's something else going on here.

Nicole: Damn it, Brady.

Brady: The things that he said, the things that baker implied -- I mean, did you do something more than get Mia's baby away from her or what?

Nicole: Drop it.

Brady: No, I'm not gonna drop it. Tell me what happened. I want to know all of it now. . Lynda: This is for the ladies only. Women are taking over a game long dominated by men - and they're putting their own spin on it. Make room for the poker chicks! That's tonight at six - only on the news hour. . . . .

Bo: What the hell kind of kangaroo court are they running in there?

Roman: All right, all right. Just take it easy. If anybody can make them see the light, it's Kayla.

Bo: Yeah, well, I should have been the one.

Kayla: In conclusion, the only person to blame for what happened that night was the man who died at university hospital. He was a professional killer. He -- he had no conscience, no morals, and no regard for human life whatsoever. As for me, I-I will make a full recovery. Please make sure that your decision does the same for detective Brady.

Thank you for your testimony.

I want the record to indicate that Dr. Johnson is related to detective Brady by marriage.

So noted.

Kayla: No, that's not why I came here.

[Gavel bangs]

Thank you, Dr. Johnson. That will be all.

Chelsea: Max, just go easy on Philip, all right?

Max: Why the hell should I? Philip is a heartless bastard who will do anything to anyone to get what he wants.

Stephanie: Max, stop it.

Max: I, uh, can't speak the truth now?

Stephanie: I'd prefer if you didn't bad-mouth Philip in my presence.

Max: Fine. There's no point in me telling you what a piece of scum your new boyfriend is. Anyway...deep down, you already know.

Melanie: What, are you gonna rob me, Philip? You take my project, you take my job, and now you're just gonna take all my money?

Philip: E.J. Did not give you an advance this size by listening to one of your empty promises.

Melanie: I don't know, Philip. I'm pretty good at getting guys to give me things.

Philip: You talked to him about the alternative-fuels project, didn't you?

Melanie: Did I? What a minute. That's impossible because you stopped me, remember?

Philip: And yet... I don't know how you did it, but --

Melanie: [Laughs]

Philip: How did you do it?

Melanie: [Laughing] I'm sorry. You're just so funny when you're totally clueless.

Nicole: You're not making any sense.

Brady: Baker implied that there was more to it than just helping you get Mia's baby, something he didn't want to do that you forced him to do.

Nicole: What? And you believed him?

Brady: Says you got everybody fooled, Nicole, including me.

Nicole: Well, he's a lying bastard.

Brady: Well, you sure fooled E.J., Though, didn't you?

Nicole: Brady, will you listen to yourself? Baker wanted $10,000 so badly, he was willing to put me in jail and himself unless I gave it to him. He is addicted to gambling. He would do anything to get through the day.

Brady: Then why would you even want to get close to a guy like that?

Nicole: Because I needed help. I wanted a baby I could love, and you wouldn't help me. Brady, please. Just think about it. Who's gonna tell you the truth, a gambling addict who sells babies or someone -- or someone you know and care about?

Bo: Thanks for doing this, Kay. You went above and beyond.

Roman: Yeah, Kay, thanks so much.

Abe: Feel better.

Kayla: Okay, thanks.

Bo: We'll see you.

Steve: Bye-bye, everybody.

Roman: Bye, sis. Hey. I think Kayla's testimony helped.

Bo: Oh, well, this whole thing is a fiasco. Shouldn't even be having this hearing.

Stephanie: Maybe you should try saying what you really feel sometimes, Max. I'm gonna go check on my mom. I'll see you later.

Chelsea: Yeah, I'll call you.

Max: Don't even say it.

Chelsea: Max, I'm not --

Max: I don't want to hear it, okay? I already know what I did. I was a jerk, and I shot my mouth off. I don't need it pointed out to me, and I don't need a scolding. Thank you.

Chelsea: I wasn't gonna scold you. I was just making an observation.

Max: Well, I don't want to hear that, either.

Chelsea: Okay, fine.

Max: 'Cause I can already guess what your observation is. You think I'm still hung up on Stephanie and that's why I get so upset about her and Philip. Well, you know what? You're wrong.

Chelsea: Am I?

Max: Yeah, I only care about her as a friend.

Chelsea: Mm-hmm.

Max: What, you don't believe me?

Chelsea: No, Max, I don't. Not at all.

Philip: If you're as smart as you think you are, you'll stop right now.

Melanie: Makes you mad, doesn't it? When somebody laughs at you. Of course, I guess that makes sense when you think you know everything and have all the power. [Laughs] I'm sorry.

Philip: Oh, you're definitely gonna be sorry.

Melanie: Will I? I mean, you don't know I did anything. You have no proof. And since you can't figure out how I did whatever it is you think I did...

Philip: It's all yours.

Melanie: [Chuckles] I'm sorry, but I am never too proud to pick up money.

Philip: Get the hell out of here. Get out of here.

Melanie: Oh, sure thing, boss. Whatever you say. You're the one in control. You know, Philip, doesn't have to be this way.

Brady: Nicole, look, I'm always gonna believe you over someone like baker, okay? You're very special to me. And I hope that we will always be friends.

Nicole: Me too.

Brady: But if there's something you're not telling me, whatever it is, you don't have to shut me out because you don't think I'm going to approve of it.

Nicole: I wouldn't -- I wouldn't do that, Brady. Just trust me on this, okay? Look, I care about you, too. That's why it's killing me that you're so suspicious. I mean, my God, Brady, if you turn on me, too --

Brady: Nicole, hey, hey. Not turning on you. I'm just worried about you. That's all.

Nicole: Well, don't be. Just be my friend, okay? Can you do that?

Brady: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I can do that.

Nicole: Thank you. Now, you really need to get out of here before E.J. Comes home.

Brady: Yeah. Take care of yourself, all right?

Nicole: I will. You too.

Dr. Baker: Hello?

Nicole: What the hell are you doing talking to Brady black? Are you out of your mind?

Dr. Baker: Listen to me -- he tracked me down, and I'm lucky to be in one piece. Since he's obviously all yours, why don't you tell him to back off, will you?

Nicole: What do you mean all mine?

Dr. Baker: I'm really surprised at you. You confided so much about your beloved E.J. Why didn't you tell me about this other guy you're sleeping with?

Nicole: I'm not sleeping with Brady. What are you talking about? We're just friends.

Dr. Baker: Well, you obviously confided a lot of sensitive information to your friend.

Nicole: So? What's it to you?

Dr. Baker: I'm just curious. I mean, when were you gonna tell him that you switched Mia's baby with Samantha Brady's?

Nicole: Never. But why would you even bring that up?

Dr. Baker: Look, I just thought since you two were so close.

Nicole: We are not that close. We're just friends. I told you.

Dr. Baker: If he weren't so crazy in love with you, he would have given up on you a long time ago.

Nicole: Okay, this is idiotic. I am not discussing this with you, okay? I will call you tomorrow.

Roman: Uh, listen, I think we'll give you guys some time here.

Abe: Yeah, we'll, uh...talk later.

Bo: What happened in there?

Max: Don't do that. Don't tell me how I'm supposed to feel.

Chelsea: What, I'm not allowed to have an opinion now?

Max: No, not about my feelings. I ne-- I don't tell you how to feel.

Chelsea: Yeah, well, I'm sure you would if you actually cared how I felt.

Max: Okay, what is that supposed to mean?

Chelsea: It means that you're in your own little world, Max. I mean, you're either constantly on the defense about your poor misunderstood little sister or you're upset at Stephanie, the girl you broke up with -- mind you -- because she likes Philip and not you. It's really, really boring.

Max: Oh, okay, so I'm boring you now.

Chelsea: When you constantly talk about Melanie, Stephanie, and Philip, yes, it's like, "okay, Max is gonna obsess about the three of them now and I'm gonna cease to exist."

Max: Wow, that's really paranoid, Chelse.

Chelsea: You think I'm imagining that you're so consumed with the Stephanie and Philip dynamic or whatever we're calling it these days, fine. Then sit here and honestly tell me that you don't even care if the girl's fallen for the guy.

Max: No, what I do care about is all these questions and accusations. I feel like I'm on trial here. And the way you're looking at me right now, I-I-I --

Chelsea: Fine. Max, I'm gonna make this supereasy for you. I won't look at you at all. How's that?

Max: Wait, Chelse. Chelse, Chelse, Chelse. Okay. I'm sorry, all right? I-I do get upset about Stephanie and Philip, but it's because they always blame everything on my sister. It has nothing to do with me pining over Stephanie or whatever you're thinking.

Chelsea: But you do consider her a friend.

Max: Yeah.

Chelsea: Just like you're my friend, right? Same thing?

Max: Yeah, but it's -- that's not exactly the same thing, okay? Because you two are completely different people.

Chelsea: But it's a friendship. That's all.

Max: With who?

Chelsea: With me, Max.

Max: Yeah. I mean -- I mean, I don't know. Unless -- why? Why are you --

Chelsea: Why? Why what?

Max: Why are you asking me this? I mean, do you want, like --

Chelsea: No, not at all.

Max: Okay.

Chelsea: Yes, I do. I just --

Max: Just what? I mean, you want to be more than friends? Is that what you're saying?

Chelsea: Max, I shouldn't have to spell this out for you. You should just know.

Max: [Chuckles] I have no idea what you're talking about.

Chelsea: You really want to know? Fine, okay? Yes, I do. I'm a normal person with normal needs. Why wouldn't I want something more?

Melanie: I guess what I mean is...

Philip: This better be good, Melanie.

Melanie: Okay, see, you know -- you think you know that E.J. and I have this thing, this business deal going on. I'm speaking theoretically.

Philip: Cut to the chase.

Melanie: Philip...there's something you can do that will solve everything, put you back on the saddle. Titan will be king of the hill. You just have to make a gesture of good faith.

Philip: Meaning?

Melanie: I think you know what I mean. So what will it be?

Nicole: Why are things getting more and more complicated, Sydney? All I want is to love you and love your daddy, and now Brady's come in the middle of things and I-I -- I mean, he's nice and he's sweet, but --

[Door opens]

E.J.: Oh. I didn't realize you were up here. It's a little early for going to bed, isn't it?

Nicole: A little, I guess.

E.J.: Hi, Nicole. [Laughs]

Nicole: Make love to me, E.J. now.

E.J.: Sweetheart, what are you talking about? You know you can't do that. You just had a baby.

Philip: As if I'd give up Stephanie for you.

Melanie: Then your loss is E.J. DiMera's gain.

Chelsea: I have feelings for you, and why wouldn't I? I'm a normal person with normal needs.

Nicole: I can't wait for Samantha to come back to Salem and ruin my life. Hey, hey! I throw her a freakin' party!
