Chloe: There's no downside. I get the audition, and Lucas and I get to spend some time together. Look, I know you're an agent, therefore you have no soul, but couldn't you at least try to remember the name of my fiancÚ? No, he's not in the business. He's a real person. Wait, can you hold on a second? I have another call. Uh, never mind. It's nobody.
Chloe: Hi, you've reached Chloe. I'm not available right now, but please leave a message after the beep. Thanks.
Daniel: Well, what did you expect?
Chloe: Okay, so, um, I'll call you from Vancouver and let you know how it went. You too.
Lucas: Vancouver? What's going on?
Chloe: We're leaving town.
E.J.: Hey. Where are you going?
E.J.: Are you in labor? Sneak off to have the baby?
Nicole: Oh, what? Oh, no. Of course that's probably what it looks like, right? Look at you, all sweet.
E.J.: So, where are you going?
Nicole: Oh, um...I'm off to Chicago.
E.J.: Chicago. Is that with the, uh, youth center thing?
Nicole: Mm-hmm. It's related to it, yeah. So I'll just, uh -- I'll call you when I get there and let you know where I am.
E.J.: You won't need to do that.
Nicole: Of course I do.
E.J.: 'Cause you're not going. Sorry. You might as well have left a map.
Rafe: You okay?
Sami: I just can't stop thinking about Hilda.
Rafe: I need for you to stay strong right now, okay? Hilda would want you to keep it together.
Sami: I know.
Rafe: All right, I just talked to sister Theresa. I didn't tell her anything, but she understands that we need privacy. She's gonna take good care of you.
Sami: Wait, wait, Rafe. You're not leaving.
Rafe: I have to meet an agent. He's a friend of mine. We're gonna nail this guy.
Sami: No. No, please don't go.
Sami: Please don't leave me.
John: What do you mean Dr. Taylor isn't who I think she is? What would make you say something like that?
Brady: You're getting your memory back.
John: You don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Brady: Dad...the hypnosis was successful. She just neglected to tell you.
Marlena: Charlotte, why don't you come on in? I'll finish up my call, and we can have a nice, long chat. Hi, I'm back.
Hope: Oh. [Laughs]
Bo: So, you were able to ditch the old man, huh?
Hope: Oh, I ditched him. That man is completely clueless. You and I have to stop meeting like this.
Bo: It feels like we've stopped meeting altogether. You look beautiful.
Hope: You sound so happy saying it.
Bo: Why should I be happy when I've got this beautiful wife who I'm crazy about and I never get to see her?
Hope: You had another meeting, didn't you? And this is the cranky, post-meeting Brady.
Bo: I didn't have a meeting. I had three meetings. They took six, eight hours. You know what? You and I used to work together three shifts in a row and time flew by. These meetings, they drag on. It's like watching a documentary on yarn weaving or something.
Hope: "Yarn weaving"?
Hope: That's a new one. I'm sorry. Poor Brady.
Bo: You know what, Fancy Face?
Bo: I think I'm gonna quit.
John: What is going on? What the hell are you doing? Have you been spying on me?
Brady: Wait, wait, wait. Can we talk ethics after I show you what this woman --
John: Oh, you're gonna show me?
Brady: Yeah, I can because I got a copy of the footage from your sessions, Dad.
John: Well, you are a son of a bitch, aren't you?
Brady: Come on. She's messing with your head. I just -- I want you to see this. You have got to listen to this, and then you can give me a smackdown later, okay?
Charlotte: John, what did you see?
John: Marlena -- the love of my life.
Brady: Did you know that you remembered seeing Marlena? Did Dr. Taylor even tell you that you had said that?
John: Why would she keep that from me?
Brady: Exactly. Exactly. I don't know. That's what Marlena and I are trying to figure out.
John: You showed that to her first?
Brady: Yeah. Dad, she's a shrink, and I trust her, and she's on your side, and, furthermore, I need help trying to figure out why this woman is doing this to you.
John: I remembered.
Brady: Like you said, why would this woman do that, Dad?
Marlena: Thank you so much. Yes, I'll get back to you. Mm-hmm, bye-bye. Charlotte...I agree we have a lot to talk about. I'm just surprised that you're the one to initiate the conversation.
Charlotte: I would think that you'd be happy that I'm talking to you instead of the Board of Ethics. I know what you did, Marlena.
Charlotte: Is there anything more sacred to our profession than the doctor/client confidentiality? You broke into my computer and sent yourself a file of John's session. I can have your license.
Marlena: When you talk to the Board of Ethics, will you also mention that you withheld information from a patient? Because if you don't, I will.
Charlotte: He's my patient, and it's my decision to make.
Marlena: You know, one of the major impediments to John's recovery has been his own sense of despair. You withheld hope from him. How dare you do that. How dare you play God with him.
Charlotte: You shut up. Shut up. You don't speak to me like that.
Marlena: Oh, my gosh. You know what? I always thought there was something personal in this for you. Now I see that I was right.
Lucas: You want to go to Vancouver tonight.
Chloe: Well, that was my agent on the phone. He got me an audition with the Vancouver opera. Well, actually, I got the audition. He's just gonna take 10% if I get the job. You said you wanted me to keep on with my singing.
Lucas: Yeah, I do. I do. Just I don't know what I'm gonna do about my job or Allie or my mom.
Chloe: Well, I already dropped off Allie at Julie's.
Lucas: You did that without checking with me first? Come on, Chloe. Now she doesn't have her mom around. She doesn't have me around, either?
Chloe: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry.
Lucas: Just tell me what this is about. Tell me what's really going on.
Chloe: I -- I just -- I think that if I can't be alone with you, I'm gonna go crazy.
Sami: No, no, you have to stay with me. Please just stay. Make someone else go, please.
Rafe: Sami, it doesn't work that way.
Sami: But he knows what you look like, Rafe. I mean, the guy who killed Hilda, he could get you, too.
Rafe: You really think I'm gonna let that happen? Sami, believe me, okay? I am coming back to you -- you and the baby.
Sami: Okay, just take care of yourself, okay?
Rafe: You can count on it.
Sami: Take care of him. Please, take care of him.
Nicole: Okay, honey, um, we just had this conversation, so maybe, maybe you forgot how I feel about direct orders.
E.J.: Nicole, you're having our baby.
Nicole: Yes. And I'm not just going to sit on the nest because that's your sexist, stereotypical view on what my duties are.
E.J.: What? All right, fine, okay? You want to go and help at-risk teens, you can do that. You can do it here in Salem. You're already helping some. There is no need for you to go out of town.
Nicole: Oh, yes, there is. It's the principle of the thing.
E.J.: You think so? Sweetheart, you and I, we can argue feminist principles all night long, but you and that baby are going nowhere.
Hope: It's really that bad.
Hope: You don't quit things so easily, Brady.
Bo: Well, I can do the damn job. I just -- I miss you. I miss us working together.
Hope: That's nice to hear.
Bo: Well, I mean it. I mean, we've worked together, what, 11,000 hours on the force?
Hope: Probably more than that.
Bo: Don't you miss it?
Hope: Are you kidding me? Seriously? All the time. I just don't talk about it. I just thought it would make things harder on you. That's all.
Bo: We used to chase bad guys. No such thing as a meeting. And besides, you smell so much better than special administrative assistant Wendell Rosensmell.
Hope: Oh, my gosh. I think that makes me feel special.
Bo: I miss our life together.
Hope: Hey. I'm not so sure it's over. It's just, you know, a little different. Look, it's your life -- correction -- our life.
Hope: Your career. And it's your decision. But as your friend, honestly, I think that you need to think about this a little bit more.
Bo: Okay, all right. I'll think about it.
Hope: And as your wife, most importantly, how about we head home now? Because I think you're in desperate need of a different kind of meeting.
Lucas: [Sighs] Couldn't you just tell me why you feel like you have to go?
Chloe: Like we have to go, Lucas. Us, alone, together.
Chloe: Just like that?
Lucas: Well, yeah. Yeah, um, I was just thinking about the engagement party.
Chloe: I'm sorry. What -- what about it?
Lucas: Well, the fact that my family's always around. You know, with my mom being sick and Sami being away and you have to take care of Allie, you have to take care of me, it's basically a houseful of my family.
Chloe: I didn't mind.
Lucas: No, I know, and you didn't complain at all. But that's, you know, probably why I think you want to be alone and take some time for yourself. You know, that's what this audition's about, right? It's about you. And I think it's about time something was.
Chloe: I really love that you understand.
Lucas: Of course I understand. I'm just glad you want me to be with you. I thought you wanted to get rid of me or something.
Chloe: Don't joke about that, okay? I want to be with you -- just you.
Lucas: Okay. All right, that's fine. I'll just -- I'll make it happen. I'll tie up some loose ends, and we'll be good to go.
Chloe: And I'm so sorry about the audition. They didn't give me any warning.
Lucas: That's fine. That's fine. Um, I'll just, you know, make sure I do what I have to do to make sure it happens.
Chloe: Oh, no.
Chloe: Allie's woobie. I forgot to take it when I took her to Julie's.
Lucas: There will be hell to pay come bedtime.
Chloe: I'm sorry. Everything just happened so fast.
Lucas: It's all right. Don't worry about it. Um, just take the blanket over to Julie's and then I'll make my calls and make sure I can make this thing of yours happen, you know? Look out, Vancouver. Here we come.
John: Why would she work so hard to get me to remember and then -- damn it.
Brady: Good, yeah. Damn it, Dad. You're right. Get angry. You got a damn good reason to be.
John: How did Blondie react when you told her?
Brady: Oh, God. She was over the moon about it, but then she got furious just like you did.
John: I've never seen her furious. I should say I don't remember ever seeing her furious.
Brady: Oh, it's something to behold. I don't envy Dr. Taylor for having to deal with it.
John: Why would you say that?
Brady: Dad, you think Marlena was gonna sit around and do nothing? This is a bad doctor. This woman has been screwing with your head, okay? Marlena's not gonna put up with that.
John: Well, she shouldn't do anything.
Brady: There's no stopping her.
John: There's something wrong here. There's a piece missing. Why? Keeps going back to "why."
Marlena: Wow. Nicely done, Charlotte. Nobody would ever guess that you had just lost it here.
Charlotte: You broke into my personal files. That's not just a violation of ethics. It's breaking the law.
Marlena: And yet you came here rather than go to the police.
Charlotte: I thought I could afford to be compassionate. After all, we are discussing the end of your career, so I thought maybe we could manage some damage control.
Marlena: What about your career?
Charlotte: Oh, I'm fine. Thank you. I was just protecting my patient.
Marlena: Your father would disagree.
Charlotte: He's dead now, so we don't need to worship at that altar anymore.
Marlena: "Worship at the altar"? Is that what I was doing? [Telephone ringing] Hello?
John: It's me. I'm with Brady.
John: He told me what happened with Dr. Taylor. I don't want you to deal with her on your own.
Marlena: Um, sorry. It's too late for that.
John: She's there?
Marlena: Yeah. Yeah. Don't worry about it. I can handle her.
E.J.: Nicole, I think if you just stopped and thought about this for a second, you'd realize that what I'm proposing is actually what is best for the baby. Nobody is proposing that you stay at home and nest. I'm just asking that you don't go to Chicago on your own. Look, tell you what -- I'll compromise with you, all right? I will drive you to Chicago. I'll drive you wherever you want to go. You can go to your meetings. You can talk to people. I'll sit in the back. You won't even see I'm there. I'll bring my laptop. I'll do my work. Deal?
E.J.: Yes, really. All I'm trying to do is keep my baby safe and keep you happy. It's not easy.
Nicole: I'll cancel.
E.J.: That's not what I meant. Why would you cancel?
Nicole: 'Cause I can't have you drop everything for me, okay? Just let me do it.
Dr. Baker: [Answers the phone] Dr. Baker.
Nicole: Mr. Kendowski, hi. It's Nicole Walker. I'm not going to be able to make it to Chicago this evening.
Dr. Baker: What the hell are you talking about?
Nicole: Thank you so much for understanding, and I can't wait to meet you. Okay, bye-bye. There. You happy?
E.J.: No, I'm not happy. And I'm not keeping you a prisoner in this house, Nicole.
Nicole: Of course you're not.
E.J.: You can do whatever you want, okay? You can go wherever you want to go. I'm just asking that I get to go with you, please.
Daniel: Chloe, wait.
Chloe: I have to go.
Daniel: Don't you think we should at least talk and try and figure out what the hell is going on?
[Cell phone rings]
Sami: Lucas. Lucas, it's Sami. I just had to talk to you. I...I screwed up again.
John: I want you to get out of there.
Marlena: What -- Charlotte?
Charlotte: Hang up the phone.
Marlena: What do you have there?
John: What's going on?
Charlotte: I said hang up the phone!
Charlotte: You think you're so smart. You're so clever.
Marlena: What do you think you're doing?
Charlotte: You were right when you thought this was personal. It's kind of personal when somebody ruins your life.
Marlena: I didn't ruin your life. I didn't even know you.
Charlotte: You don't even remember, do you? I do -- every detail. And now I have a way to make you pay for all of it.
Chloe: Haven't you noticed you and I don't talk very well?
Daniel: 'Cause you won't let us. We can make love, but --
Chloe: No, Daniel, that wasn't love. That was something very different from love.
Daniel: Was it? You think you tell yourself that long enough, it'll actually be true? Look, I know you don't want to hurt Lucas, and we both know we didn't ask for this to happen. It just --
Chloe: I'm leaving.
Daniel: You know, you can run away from me, but that doesn't change how we feel.
Chloe: I'm leaving town with Lucas. This is over, Daniel, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Lucas: Sami, why are you calling? Are you all right?
Sami: No. No, I'm not. I -- this woman who was guarding me, she was -- she was this really sweet woman, and she got killed -- murdered.
Lucas: Was it the same guy?
Sami: They think so.
Lucas: So are you all alone right now? I mean, is there somebody else guarding you?
Sami: Yeah, I have a guard, but he's out looking for the killer.
Lucas: So you're all alone? Sami, what the hell is going on?
Sami: No, no, I'm not alone. I'm at The Convent of the Holy Cross.
Lucas: You're -- you're at a convent? Someone's trying to kill you and they put you in a convent?
Sami: Because he knows I'm safe here, because he knows the killer won't find me here. I'm okay, I promise.
Lucas: Are you sure? 'Cause if not --
Sami: No, I'm fine. I'm safe. Lucas, I just wanted to talk to you. Is Allie there? C-can I talk to her?
Lucas: Um, I'm sorry. She's with Julie.
Sami: Tell her I miss her.
Lucas: Yeah, she misses you, too. Wait a minute. Are you sure you're all right? I mean, how's the baby?
Sami: Yeah, I'm okay, and the baby's okay, but the baby's gonna be born soon. And I still don't know what I'm gonna do.
Lucas: Is there anything I can do?
Sami: No. I guess I shouldn't even have called you. That's another stupid mistake I've made.
Lucas: Does your dad know about this?
Sami: No! No. Lucas, my father doesn't know where I am, and you can't tell him, okay? You have to promise me.
Sami: Because, uh, there's a leak on the inside. Someone gave the killer information about me.
Sami: But I'm okay, all right? As long as I'm here, I'm safe. I-I'm safe, I promise. You believe me, don't you?
Lucas: Yeah, yeah, I believe you.
Sami: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called you. Tell Allie I love her.
Lucas: W-wait a minute. Sami, wait a minute.
Sami: Oh, God. What am I gonna do?
E.J.: Are you still angry?
Nicole: And scared.
Nicole: You gave me a direct order. And when I wouldn't obey, you offered a compromise, a compromise where you end up getting everything you wanted in the first place. What, that's not being a DiMera? Nothing's changed.
E.J.: Let me explain. Please, sit down. Please.
Nicole: What, that this is the best thing for me and that I'm too hormonal to -- to live my life on my own?
E.J.: Nicole, I wasn't there when Johnny was born. And the thought of not being there when our baby is born scares the hell out of me.
Nicole: I want you there, E.J. But I will not be on a leash until this baby is born. I will not do it.
E.J.: Okay. I concede. Just... I am there when our baby's born -- nonnegotiable. I'm there.
Nicole: You keep saying things like "non-negotiable."
E.J.: Nicole, is it unreasonable to insist on being at the birth of one's child?
E.J.: Thank you. Look, I just came back here to get some paperwork, so let me do that and I'll get off to the office, but can we just please -- can we just leave this for tonight?
Nicole: Just...go to the office and we'll pretend that this never happened when you get back, okay?
[Cell phone ringing]
Dr. Baker: Dr. Baker.
Nicole: Hi, it's Nicole. Sorry about what happened earlier.
Dr. Baker: Yeah, what happened?
Nicole: I, uh -- I hit a snag. The father of my baby is getting a little protective. He's keeping a close eye on me.
Dr. Baker: Well, that could be a problem. If Mia goes into labor, you've got to be ready to move or the whole plan blows up in your face.
Nicole: No, that won't happen. I won't let it.
Lucas: Convent of the Holy Cross. Yes, that's it. Thank you. And just tell Sami to call me back. Yeah, anything she needs, just tell her to call me and I'll take care of it. Okay.
Chloe: Hey. Who were you talking to?
Lucas: Hey, you're back.
Chloe: Yeah, who were you talking to about Sami? What's going on?
Lucas: Um, she called while you were gone.
Chloe: Oh, well, did they catch the killer? Is she coming home?
Lucas: No, something horrible happened. I guess the person that was watching her was murdered. She's not even at the safe house anymore, and she's scared out of her mind.
Chloe: So are you.
Lucas: Yeah, yeah, I am. So I'm sorry. I can't -- I can't go now.
Chloe: Just like that.
Lucas: Yeah, Chloe, just like that. She's in real danger.
Chloe: I get it, okay? She's more important. It's as simple as that. Vancouver, time alone together -- it obviously doesn't matter.
Lucas: It does matter. I didn't say that.
Chloe: Maybe I don't need time alone with you. Maybe I just need time alone.
Marlena: You'll have to explain that to me, Charlotte. I don't understand.
Charlotte: Well, here we have the all-wise, ever-competent Dr. Marlena trying to talk down the crazy lady.
Marlena: I didn't say you were crazy. I said I don't understand.
Charlotte: Well, you might want to revise that diagnosis. I mean, it would be crazy to kill somebody for doing something so many years ago, wouldn't it?
Marlena: What is that?
Charlotte: This is a big old dose of muscle relaxant. The heart is a muscle.
Marlena: I was used for a pincushion for a while. I won't let that happen again.
Charlotte: Ah, yes, but you know the strength of madmen. It'll be fun to have a fair fight.
Marlena: You enjoy labeling yourself as crazy, don't you?
Charlotte: I could just be working on my affirmative defense -- mental illness or disorder.
Marlena: No, I think you're trying to taunt me. I think you like the feeling of having the upper hand.
Charlotte: [Chuckles] Father always said you were a brilliant diagnostician. It was really fun, you know, the 30 or 40 minutes that he would carve out for me in a week. And then I could sit and listen to him praise you -- your intellect, your insight.
Marlena: So I kept you away from your father, so you want to keep me away from John.
Charlotte: Well, when that didn't work, then I decided I was just -- I'll just keep you away from everybody. So, when your heart starts to relax, I want you to think about John...and me -- just the two of us.
Marlena: Oh, now that's crazy.
Charlotte: Is it? You saw the session. You saw that I had him totally under. I had him totally in my control. Who knows what I suggested off-camera? So, you'll be dead...and you'll have lost all across the board.
E.J.: I just asked Mary to make some coffee and sandwiches. It's gonna be a late night.
Nicole: Is she getting extra pay for monitoring me?
E.J.: Can we leave it, please? I said I was sorry.
Nicole: You're right. I'm in a bad mood, so I will -- I will turn in early and get some sleep and I will be my normal, upbeat self in the morning.
E.J.: Okay. Call me if you need anything.
Nicole: Okay. Night.
E.J.: Good night, sweetheart.
Nicole: What I need is a stiff drink. [Sighs] But you can't. You're gonna have a baby. Hi, Mia, it's Nicole. Are you okay? Do you need anything? Okay, well, get some sleep and I'll call you in the morning. Bye. [Doorbell rings] Chloe. Oh, what's wrong?
Chloe: Sami. She's going after Lucas and he's falling for it.
Lucas: Hey, Chloe, it's me. Um, I'm really sorry, all right? Please just come home. We love each other, and we can work this out. We can work out anything. [Knock on door] Just call me when you get a chance. Hey. What are you doing here?
Sami: Tell me you think everything's gonna be okay.
Sister Theresa: I think your friend is a good, strong man, and I think someone is going to be looking out for him.
Rafe: I know you're here.
Killer: And you know you're a dead man.
Marlena: So, you had an unhappy childhood and I'm to blame.
Charlotte: Works for me.
Marlena: Well, all delusions are self-serving. You tell yourself that I stole your father's affection, esteem, because the truth is just too hard to face.
Charlotte: And the truth would be what?
Marlena: Well, you know, Charlotte. I mean, some people just don't measure up.
Charlotte: Shut up.
Marlena: Look at John's treatment. It shows us how limited you are.
Charlotte: God, you bitch! [Grunting]
Marlena: John, look out! No! No!
John: It's all right. It's all right. Y-you're safe now.
Marlena: Oh, my gosh, John! No! It's okay. Hang on, hang on. Oh, God!
Lucas: What are you doing here? Is it my mom? Is something wrong?
Daniel: Uh, no, no, no. Kate's fine. It's not about her.
Lucas: Good. Then what's up?
Daniel: Well, it's, uh -- it's about Chloe.
Nicole: Sami called Lucas? Well, her father is a cop, and Lucas isn't exactly iron man.
Chloe: She just uses him, Nicole. She gets her hooks into him.
Nicole: I know. Look, I am on your side, all right, but I don't think you should get upset when Lucas worries about her. I mean, they do share a child together.
Chloe: It's more than that, okay? It's ever since he found out she's pregnant, he's just --
Nicole: I'm sorry. What did you say?
Sami: Please, God... please look after Rafe. Take care of him. Keep him safe. I need him. And it just wouldn't be fair. All Rafe and Hilda ever tried to do was help me, look after me. And this guy, this killer, he -- he shot the mayor. He stabbed Rafe. And he killed Hilda. So please, please find a way to stop him.
Killer: Easy. Easy. Give me the gun. Give me the gun. I'm glad we met up again, 'cause this time, I'm gonna finish the job I started.
Rafe: Don't count on it. [Grunting]
Marlena: Bo, get an ambulance. Tell them it's an overdose of muscle relaxants. Brady, quickly, get my bag.
Bo: This is Commander Brady. I need a bus at 715 Pinewood Avenue, stat.
Marlena: John, listen to me. It's Marlena. I am not going to let you die.
Daniel: Chloe's going through something, and she's covering it up.
Lucas: What are you trying to tell me?
Nicole: So, you know the name of the convent?
Nicole: Well, I was just hoping we could get that little piece of information to the guy that's trying to kill her.
Sami: Please help me hide my baby.
