Nicole: Please, Brady, help me, just until I can come up with another plan. Just help me hold her off.
Brady: I have a better idea. Why don't you tell Mia the truth, tell her the reason she can't meet your fiancÚ is because he doesn't know what the hell is going on, Nicole?
Mia: Is this him? Is this your fiancÚ?
Charlotte: Thanks. [Gasps] Oh, John. Uh, you startled me.
John: I'm sorry.
Charlotte: Thanks. I got it. Thank you.
John: Cynthia told me I might find you here.
Charlotte: What can I help you with?
John: I've made a decision. I've decided to go through with the hypnosis.
Charlotte: Ugh! You'd think I never put on lipstick before. Ugh.
Lucas: What's the matter? Are you a little nervous?
Chloe: Yeah, slightly. Just wondering who's coming, the guest list.
Lucas: Well, I'm sure there won't be any more surprises. My Mom's not gonna invite anybody we can't stand, right?
Chloe: Wouldn't make much sense.
Lucas: No, it wouldn't. You look amazing, so beautiful. My future wife.
Chloe: What's this? Lucas, what have you done? Come on, you've given me the ring. Isn't that enough?
Lucas: I didn't do that. I don't know what that is. It's not from me.
Kate: It's a small party, and it's last minute, obviously. Can you come? Do you need some time to think about it?
Daniel: No, I-I-I just -- I don't know why you want me there.
Kate: Well, I-I thought that I had made it clear that even though we're not romantically involved, I still value your friendship. Unless you just don't want to be around me.
Daniel: No, I-I didn't say that.
Kate: Well, then what's the reluctance? Is it because of Chloe?
Daniel: No, Chloe has nothing to do with this.
Mia: Are you the guy she's marrying? Are you gonna be my baby's father?
Brady: No. I'm not.
Mia: Who are you?
Nicole: He's a friend. You can trust him.
Mia: Trust him? Why? I can't trust anybody, least of all you.
Mia: No, whatever you're doing, you can just stop now. You are never gonna get your hands on my baby. Never.
Nicole: How could you do that to me?
Brady: I told you. I was not gonna lie.
Nicole: That was my last chance at happiness, and you destroyed it. You selfish son of a bitch. You ruined everything! You ruined my life!
Chelsea: Hi. Um, I'm picking up a cake. It's under the name Chelsea Brady.
Woman: Yes, for the Horton engagement party.
Woman: Yeah. I'll get it for you now.
Max: [Exhales sharply] Hey, I'm sorry to bother you. I think I left my cell-phone here on New Year's. Oh, thank you.
Woman: You're welcome.
Max: I appreciate it.
Woman: One cake coming up.
Max: Well. She lives.
Chelsea: What's that supposed to mean?
Max: I left you four messages, and you haven't called me back. I kind of feel like a stalker.
Chelsea: You didn't have your cell-phone, so it's not my fault.
Max: Good point.
Chelsea: And you're never home, so how was I supposed to get in touch with you?
Max: Oh. So you're not avoiding me?
Chelsea: No. Why would I be avoiding you?
Max: Well, the last time we were here, you literally ran out of here.
Chelsea: I did not run.
Chelsea: It was more like a fast-paced walk.
Max: All jokes aside, I thought we agreed we were just gonna be friends.
Chelsea: That's what I thought, too.
Max: Then what?
Chelsea: I don't know, Max. Do friends go around kissing each other?
Chloe: It's from your mom.
Lucas: Imagine that.
Chloe: "Dear Chloe, welcome to the family. We are blessed to have you. Love, Kate."
Lucas: See? See that? You won her over. You did it. You nailed it, kiddo.
Chloe: I-I feel so grateful. I never thought that she'd like me, let alone welcome me to the family.
Lucas: Yeah, well, I am still blown away at the complete novelty of not having to fight tooth and nail for the woman I love. You know, in the past, no one's ever been good enough, until now.
Chloe: Maybe she's just lowered her standards.
Lucas: Will you stop putting yourself down like that? Come on, you know she thinks the world of you after everything you've done for her. And even if she didn't, even if I had to fight for you, I would in a second, in a heartbeat.
Chloe: Would you?
Lucas: I'd do anything to be with you. Outside of my kids, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me.
Kate: This isn't you.
Kate: This evasiveness.
Kate: Yeah. I think maybe you think that people don't notice. But I have noticed, and the tension between you and Chloe is palpable. And now she doesn't want you to be her doctor. And can you really deny there's a problem here?
Daniel: I think you're making too much of it.
Kate: Okay. Well, I hope I am because Chloe is going to be part of my family. And you're part of our lives and part of our family.
Daniel: I-I-I'm sorry. I don't even know what to say.
Kate: Okay, so what I think the burning question is here, is will you come to the party tonight?
Daniel: You know, I think I have a little time left on my shift. I probably should just hang around here and keep an eye on Theo.
Kate: Okay, fine. I understand that. But if you are able to get out, and if you get out in time, will you show up? For me?
Daniel: For you.
Nicole: You bastard! You ruined my life!
Brady: Nicole, I'm trying to help you.
Nicole: Help me?! You've done the complete opposite of help me! You screwed everything up!
Brady: Hey! Calm down! All right?
Nicole: Get your hands off of me. [Breathing shakily] You self-righteous fool. I never should have trusted you. Maybe you won't stick your neck out for me, but what about that little girl? What about her? This is about her, too.
Brady: You're damn right it's about her! It's about you taking her baby under false premises.
Nicole: Who gives a damn about premises?! God, I just -- I wanted to give her and her baby a decent life. I wanted to -- to give them love and -- and security for both of them, whatever they needed. But, no. You're above that, aren't you, Brady? You're above saving my life, too, you sanctimonious creep.
Brady: Supporting your lies is not a way to save your life, not in my book.
Nicole: [Crying] Without that baby... and without... E.J., I might as well be dead because I'm gonna lose everything that ever truly mattered to me. And you could have stopped it, but you didn't. [Sobbing] You hung me out to dry, Brady, and it is all on you!
Max: We kissed. So what?
Chelsea: Wow. Okay.
Max: It was New Year's Eve.
Chelsea: And it didn't mean anything to you.
Max: Yeah. No. I don't know.
Chelsea: Do you want to explain that?
Max: No, I-I just don't think it's something we need to freak out about.
Chelsea: I'm not.
Max: You're the one who said "friends don't kiss friends." That's a direct quote.
Chelsea: It's a statement of fact. I wouldn't consider it freaking out.
Max: Well, something's going on.
Chelsea: I just thought that we had figured out where everything stood. And now...
Max: You're not sure.
Max: Okay. Where do you want things to stand?
Charlotte: Wow. This is great. Truly.
John: What's so great?
Charlotte: If you don't mind me asking, what made you change your mind?
John: Might have been when you told me that there wasn't much more you could do for me unless I was willing to move forward.
Charlotte: I got through to you, did I?
John: Actually, I wasn't ready to stop the sessions just yet.
Charlotte: Marlena. Oh, I didn't know you were here.
Marlena: I just came in.
Charlotte: Wow, what timing.
Charlotte: Well, John and I were just discussing his therapy, which was a private conversation, and, you know, timing.
Marlena: I wasn't eavesdropping on you.
Charlotte: So, until our next session, right?
John: Looking forward to it.
Charlotte: Great. Take care, Marlena.
John: Well, I guess I don't have to tell you that I'm going to proceed with hypnosis.
Marlena: I think that's wonderful. I'm so proud of you. Sit down.
John: Just don't get your hopes up.
Marlena: No, I will keep my expectations realistic. But hypnotherapy was a very important part of our success when we went through all of this, you know.
John: It's good to know it worked before.
Marlena: John... what made you change your mind?
John: Wanting to know the truth about my past, no matter what.
Nicole: [Crying] What am I gonna do?
Brady: I'm -- I'm really sorry.
Nicole: No, you're not. You're just saying that to make yourself feel better.
Brady: Nicole, if I thought that lying was the answer, if I thought that that would help --
Nicole: It would! It would help! It would help me. It would help E.J. Most important, it would help that precious baby. You're too busy thinking of your sweet self.
Brady: I am thinking of a better way to go, Nicole, and that's to tell E.J. the truth, that you want to adopt this precious baby. Do you honestly think you're gonna kick you out on the street for that?
Nicole: You just don't understand!
Brady: I don't understand? I understand that selling and buying babies on the black market is a crime, Nicole.
Nicole: But what about giving a baby a good home with a loving family? Is that a crime?
Brady: Oh, my God. The DiMera's? The DiMera's a loving family?
Nicole: Why are you trying so hard to make me feel bad about something good?!
Brady: I'm trying to talk some sense into you! I'm here, aren't I? I'm here for you. Every time you call me, don't I show up? Haven't I been here every single time you need my help?
Nicole: You only... you only come when I call because you have nothing better to do. You never actually come through for me.
Brady: I know you don't mean that, Nicole.
Nicole: You look in my eyes, and you tell me if I mean it.
Brady: You're lashing out. You're lashing out at me because you can't lash out at the one person you're most angry at.
Nicole: And who is that, Dr. Phil?
Brady: That's E.J.
Marlena: So, whatever it takes?
John: I thought you knew that.
Marlena: It's good to hear you say it. It is the only chance you have of regaining your memories.
John: It may never happen.
Marlena: Don't worry about it. I'm not getting ahead of myself.
John: I should apologize.
John: For making New Year's Eve so uncomfortable.
Marlena: I wish you would stop feeling sorry and guilty. This was not your fault.
John: Oh, that's not what Charlotte says.
Chelsea: I'm confused.
Max: Join the club.
Chelsea: I thought that we had this all settled.
Max: Maybe we did.
Chelsea: Okay, then why are you asking me where I think things should stand?
Max: I guess it just doesn't hurt hearing it again.
Chelsea: Yeah, but do you not want us to be anything more than --
Max: No, I --
Woman: Here you go.
Chelsea: Thank you so much.
Max: What's the occasion?
Chelsea: Uh, engagement party for Lucas and Chloe. It's over at my grandfather's place.
Max: You sound excited.
Chelsea: I should be. I mean, I'm happy for Chloe and Lucas.
Chelsea: Okay, this is gonna sound incredibly selfish, but, um, I just don't really feel like going to a party where everyone's gonna be all happy and in love. You know, there's Daniel and my grandmother, Stephanie and Philip -- sorry.
Max: It's all good. Don't -- don't worry about it. Continue -- continue your amazing story about how seeing everybody all happy and in love is just gonna make you want to, what, hurl?
Chelsea: Kind of.
Max: I get it. It kind of grosses me out, too.
Chelsea: And I'm just gonna feel like an outcast because, you know, I'm going to be with my family, and I'm the only one that's gonna be there solo.
Max: Well... then maybe you'd feel better if you went with a good-looking, handsome guy on your arm.
Chelsea: Yes. But where do I find one of those?
Max: I have an idea.
[Knock on door]
Chloe: Ooh, great.
Lucas: You all right? Come in!
Kate: I am so sorry.
Chloe: No, wait. Uh, Kate, please. I wanted to thank you for your gift. It was incredibly thoughtful.
Kate: You like it?
Kate: Actually, I've only read the card so far. I haven't had a chance to open the actual gift.
Kate: Come on! Come on, girl, open that up. Chop, chop.
Lucas: I don't know. Here it comes.
Chloe: Oh, Kate.
Kate: It better fit.
Chloe: I love it.
Kate: Oh, well, Lucas gave me your size.
Chloe: It's absolutely gorgeous.
Kate: I want you to feel like a princess tonight.
Chloe: Thank you. Lucas makes me feel like that every day. I'm so lucky.
Kate: So is he. So am I. Okay, so, I'm gonna get down to the kitchen, help out. I will see you two in a few minutes.
Lucas: Yeah, yeah. We'll be there in a few. Whoa, look at that, huh?
Lucas: She's got great taste.
Chloe: You're mom, she's -- she's been so good to me.
Lucas: I just can't get over the change in her, ever since she's been diagnosed. I don't think it's for my sake. I think she is extremely fond of you.
Chloe: I don't deserve it.
Lucas: Please stop saying that. I told you. You deserve all this.
Chloe: I'm sorry, I... sometimes I just feel guilty.
Lucas: You keep saying that. Not only that, but you keep acting like it. Is something going on, something you're not telling me?
Nicole: Angry at E.J.?
Brady: You obviously don't think that he loves you enough to understand the hell you've been going through, that he won't cut you a break.
Nicole: No. No. That is not it. I know he loves me. He is a good person. He is a caring person.
Brady: Then go to him and tell him the truth and adopt a baby together and live happily ever after. Nicole, the time has come for you to trust that he's not going to abandon you. And if he does -- if he does, he wasn't worth it in the first place. It's time to take a leap of faith. No net. You need to go for it.
John: Dr. Taylor seems to think that I have developed some mental block to remembering my past. In other words, it's not just what Stefano has done to me.
Marlena: She thinks you don't want to remember your past?
John: Would I have agreed to hypnosis if I didn't want to remember?
Marlena: I don't know. Maybe you're not ready to give up your sessions with Dr. Taylor... kind, compassionate, altogether wonderful Dr. Taylor.
Chloe: Your mom needs to stop giving me all these gifts. It's over the top.
Lucas: Are you serious?
Chloe: This is exactly why I don't tell you these things because you make me feel stupid.
Lucas: Chloe, you gave the woman bone marrow, all right? You saved her life. And now she gives you a dress, and you're telling me that it's over the top?
Chloe: I don't need to be rewarded.
Lucas: It's a gift from your future mother-in-law. All right, and you -- you deserve this because you're very deserving. Understand? Any of that sinking in?
Chloe: Yeah. And the dress is incredibly beautiful.
Lucas: And as much as I wanted to take off your clothes earlier, I just can't wait to see you in that gorgeous dress.
Chloe: Mm. What an impossibly charming thing to say.
Lucas: Hmm, that charming thing I got down. You know that.
Chloe: Mm. I really need to finish getting dressed.
Lucas: Okay. We'll have our alone time later, then?
Lucas: I look forward to that. All right. [Sighs]
Daniel: Where's your, uh... where's Chloe?
Lucas: She's upstairs getting ready. She should be down around, I don't know, midnight maybe?
Kate: You made it.
Daniel: I did.
Kate: I'm glad you decided to come.
Lucas: Why wouldn't he? Is something going on here?
Kate: There isn't any reason he shouldn't know.
Kate: Daniel and I are no longer seeing each other.
Lucas: You son of a --
Nicole: So, I am just supposed to tell him?
Brady: Yep. That's all you got to do.
Nicole: You make it sound so easy. Come on, let's get out of here.
Nicole: Mm. Okay. Where to, Rio? I'm in.
Brady: No, somewhere quiet where you can get your head straight.
Nicole: You mean like you?
Brady: What the hell does that mean?
Nicole: You listen to me, Brady Black. There is no way in hell that I'm gonna end up like you, you got that? There is not way that I'm gonna give up on the dream of having a man who actually loves me. What do you think, I'm gonna let something as stupid as the truth stand in my way of having a family?
Brady: It's good to see that I got through to you, Nicole.
Nicole: No, you want to know what got through to me, huh? That you're a downer, that you're a great, big buzz kill. Why don't you just take your negativity somewhere else? Why don't you just go depress some poor soul who actually thinks you're his friend?
Brady: Fine. I'm done helping you anyway.
Nicole: Done? You never even started.
Brady: Don't call me. Don't contact me. Game over here.
Chelsea: So you know where I could find a handsome guy for the engagement party tonight, huh?
Max: Like I said, I have a couple of ideas.
Chelsea: I wonder what they could be. It's too late for perfectdate.com.
Max: Yes, they always take way too long.
Chelsea: Wait. You're not by chance talking about you, are you?
Max: No. Although I do kind of fit that handsome part of the bill, I think.
Chelsea: I'm totally fine to go to the party by myself. And I appreciate you offering. It's very sweet. But, really.
Max: Really what?
Chelsea: I'm running late. And, um, what kind of party is there without a cake, right?
Max: Chelsea, I said I'd go with you.
Chelsea: I know you did because you felt sorry for me.
Chelsea: And that's my fault because I was complaining about having to go alone.
Max: I didn't feel sorry for you, Chelse.
Chelsea: Max, it is fine. I'm gonna go to that party alone. I'm gonna be brave and independent.
Chelsea: And I will wear my aloneness proudly.
Max: Okay, if that's the way you want it.
Chelsea: It is.
Max: Okay. That's fine.
Chelsea: It is fine. But, um, I will see you around.
Max: Sure. Right.
Chelsea: And I'm sorry for not returning your calls.
Max: No, no worries there.
Chelsea: I'm glad we finally got things straight.
Max: Me too. Me too. Okay.
Kate: Lucas, just calm down, all right? Calm down!
Lucas: You just had a bone-marrow transplant. What, two weeks later, he dumps you?
Kate: He didn't dump me. No one dumped anyone, all right?
Lucas: Then what happened? I don't get it.
Daniel: Your mom and I came to an understanding that she would focus on her family and her health for right now.
Lucas: Then what the hell's he doing here, Mom?
Kate: We decided to still be friends, all right, Mr. Punch first and ask questions later.
Lucas: Look, Daniel, I'm sorry.
Daniel: Forget it.
Lucas: No, I'm embarrassed. I shouldn't have acted like that.
Daniel: I said forget it.
Kate: I'm gonna go upstairs. I'm gonna get a first-aid kit.
Daniel: I can take care of this.
Daniel: I can take care of it.
Daniel: Just tell me where the kit is.
Kate: In the hallway to the left, there's a bathroom. It's below the sink.
Daniel: I'll be right back.
Kate: Well, are you proud of yourself?
[Knock on door]
Chloe: Oh, Lucas, perfect timing. This zipper is an absolute pain. Would you help me with it? Daniel. What are you doing here? Are you looking for Kate?
Daniel: No. I'm looking for you.
Nicole: [Crying] Oh, God. Is it so wrong of me to want to be a mother? There are so many kids who need one. [Cries] I could have used a Father like E.J. when I was growing up. I'm not so sure about a Mom like me, but... but I know when I'm blessed with that little baby... I'm gonna give him or her all that love I had -- that I have for my sweet baby girl up in heaven. Because all this love I feel... [Sobbing] just because someone's gone, it doesn't mean the love goes. You have to have somewhere to put it. You have to. You have to. [Sobbing]
John: Not like you.
John: To be so hostile.
Marlena: I get hostile sometimes, John, especially when I feel somebody is being thoroughly disingenuous.
John: Meaning me.
Marlena: It seems to me it took a certain ultimatum from a certain therapist to get you to the next level of your therapy. And it was only after Charlotte said to you she would end your therapy --
John: You said you were gonna end our family unless I got help, so I did. And you want to know something? It hasn't worked, none of it. But I'm still going, aren't I?
Marlena: What is that about?
John: I just can't win with you, can I?
Marlena: Oh. Yeah. I'm sorry. I just want this so badly.
John: Then just wish me luck.
Marlena: I guess there's nothing more I can do. Good luck.
John: I'll keep you posted.
Brady: Hey, Dad.
John: I got to run, kid.
Marlena: Hey, Brady.
Brady: Something happen between you and Dad?
Marlena: We were just talking about his treatment.
Brady: Please don't tell me he's stopping.
Marlena: No, no. He's going into hypnotherapy.
Brady: Well, that's great. That's great, right?
Marlena: Yeah. Yeah, that's great.
Brady: Why do you seem so bummed about it, then?
Marlena: Well, I-I just think that I have pushed him into seeing Dr. Taylor, and I may have begun something he may not be willing to end.
Chelsea: Sorry that I'm a little late. Where is everybody?
Lucas: Chloe's upstairs getting ready, and Mom's around here, taking care of 20 million things.
Chelsea: And Daniel is...
Lucas: He's around, too, I'm sure.
Chelsea: Is everything okay?
Lucas: Yeah. Yeah. Um, just do me a favor. Don't ask what happened to his face, all right?
Chloe: Oh, my God. What happened?
Daniel: Uh, it's just Lucas. That's all.
Chloe: Oh. Did you tell him?
Daniel: No, no, no. It had nothing to do with us.
Chloe: There is no us.
Daniel: If you, um... if you need help with that, I can --
Chloe: No, I got it, okay? [Grunting]
Daniel: You know what, if you could just relax, this might make it easier on both of us. Here. [Zipping]
Chloe: Um, well, whatever it is that you wanted to talk about, it's got to wait because the party can't start until I get downstairs.
Daniel: Actually, that's what I wanted to talk about. Something happened to me today, a few things... that made me think about what we're doing.
Daniel: No, running scared, wasting time, lying to ourselves... to other people. Look, it is not too late Chloe. You don't have to marry a man you don't love... with your whole heart.
Mia: Nicole, what happened? You're crying about the baby. Nicole... I see... well, I can tell how much you really want this.
Nicole: I... I don't blame you for not trusting me. You are just trying to take care of your precious little baby.
Mia: Well, maybe -- I mean... I think we could, um, probably work things out.
Nicole: You mean it?
Mia: Yeah, I do. Like I said, I can tell how much this means to you. And now I don't want to give my baby away to anybody but you.
Nicole: [Sobs] Mia, bless you. Bless you.
Mia: But I still need to meet your fiancÚ, okay, make sure that he's a good guy and that he's down for all this.
Nicole: He is. He is. Of course he's -- he's a wonderful guy. It's the -- the only problem is I found out he had to go away on another business trip. He's -- he's crossing the Atlantic as we speak.
Mia: Oh, well, when he gets back.
Nicole: Yeah, of course. But, um, I-I-I need an answer now because, um, I-I can't stand this dragging on and on.
Mia: And I feel for you. I really do. But like I said before. My Mom, she had all of these really, really mean boyfriends because she didn't have a husband. I don't want my kid to go through that. I do not want my kid to go through what I did. So, I'm sorry, but if I can't meet the dad, I can't give you my baby. That would be a deal breaker.
Chelsea: These are unbelievable.
Kate: Good. I'm gonna go to the kitchen and get another batch.
Lucas: Why don't you let Henderson do something? Please, come on, sit.
Kate: Honey, I'm fine. You know how much I love playing hostess.
Lucas: I don't think Daniel would approve of you pushing yourself.
Kate: Would you stop worrying, please? Your only job today is to enjoy yourself.
Lucas: Enjoy myself a lot more when Chloe gets down here.
Chelsea: Oh, she's getting beautiful for you.
Lucas: Yeah, I think I'll go check on her.
Chelsea: Oh, will you sit still and give her a break? Girls don't like to be rushed.
Lucas: All right, all right. I'll be patient.
Chloe: I can't do this.
Daniel: You are just getting in deeper and deeper. You go through with this party, that -- that is just cruel.
Chloe: You want to talk about cruel? How about breaking Lucas' heart or Kate's. Is that what you want?
Daniel: No, I don't. And that's why it is not fair to them. We have got to stop pretending.
Chloe: I am not pretending, okay? I love Lucas.
Daniel: And you feel nothing for me? Answer me. You do not have to go through with this charade, Chloe. Don't do it. Don't do it.
Nicole: You will meet him. I promise. Just not until he gets back.
Mia: Okay. If it's soon.
Nicole: It will be. Oh, and when you do meet him, you're just -- you're gonna love him. And if you ever need to get in touch with me for any reason -- if you have a cell-phone on you right now, I-I can program my phone number in.
Nicole: Okay. You know what, Mia? This is gonna work out for all of us.
Mia: I hope so.
Nicole: Okay. There you go.
Mia: Thanks. I should probably get back home.
Nicole: Yeah, me too.
Mia: Talk to you soon.
Nicole: Okay. Very soon. Bye. Oh. I'm gonna make it work this time... whatever it takes.
Rafe: Get this fever down, take a cold shower.
Sami: But if you can't even stand up --
Rafe: That's where you come in.
Chelsea: One of them has moved on, and Daniel has probably met somebody else.
Chloe: I love Lucas, okay?
Daniel: Do you think about him day and night, like I do you?
