Adam: And so I said, "if you don't know why we have form d-7a2, there's no way you can fill it out accurately."
Philip: That's why we couldn't run this company without you, Adam.
Adam: Thank you, Mr. Kiriakis.
Philip: It's Philip, please.
Sasha: Just can't keep your eyes off him, can you?
Melanie: [Scoffs] He's talking to the most boring guy in the room, and he's still being nicer to him than he is to me.
Sasha: Well, Adam's an employee, not a...consultant.
Melanie: So you heard.
Sasha: Oh, everyone's heard. And, of course, it's clear that Titan desperately needed an 18-year-old consultant.
Melanie: Look, Titan is moving forward with the alternative fuel project, which means they're moving forward with me. So I'm gonna be in here day in and day out, baby, and I would get along with me if I were you. Excuse me. [Crunches] I have to mingle.
Sasha: "Mingle," meaning "gloat."
Philip: How'd you get stuck with kitchen duty?
Stephanie: Oh, it's, uh, more fun than talking to boring Mr. Upson.
Philip: Adam Upson saves this company thousands of dollars a week. But I don't want to talk to you about him. I want to talk to you about surprises.
Philip: Really. And I have one that is going to blow you away.
Victor: We're gonna need a bigger tree next year.
Brady: [Chuckles] Size does matter, huh?
Victor: It does when your company's name is Titan. I hope you're here to give me some good news about the job I offered you. Ginger ale.
Brady: I'll pass.
Victor: On the ginger ale or the job?
Lucas: To tell you the truth, I don't think I ever want to leave this place. You just looked so beautiful last night. There's no place I'd rather be than right here with you all alone. [Clears throat] I wonder if this cabin's the reason why there's so many Hortons.
Chloe: You know, we really should get going. I mean, we still have to pick up Allie and still have shopping to do.
Lucas: We got to see my Mom at the hospital, remember?
Chloe: Yeah. Uh, I was thinking about that. I think you should go alone.
Daniel: Hey. [Whistles]
Kate: All right. What's wrong? What happened?
Daniel: Nothing's wrong. I was smiling. Why would you ask me, "what's wrong?"
Kate: Because you have your hands behind your back -- that's why. Something happened to your finger, didn't it? I mean, what, are you trying to spare me?
Daniel: I am trying to hide a Christmas gift. You know, I don't get you at all. You deal with your own cancer like a total stoic. I tweak my finger, you go nutso.
Kate: They call it "displacement," and don't try to analyze me, 'cause I really hate it.
Daniel: Really? I haven't noticed.
Kate: [Exhales deeply] Okay. Is your finger all right?
Daniel: My finger is fine.
Kate: Okay. Then let's talk about me.
Kate: Well, why are you giving me a Christmas present now?
Daniel: Oh, 'cause this is so good. It can't wait.
Paramedic 1: What do we have?
Paramedic 2: The kid's unconscious.
Paramedic 1: What's his B.P.? This child's not breathing.
Bo: Aw, come on! Son of a --
Hope: Are you okay?
Bo: No. No, I'm not. [Paper crinkling]
Stephanie: Okay, I'm anchored. Blow me away. What's the surprise?
Philip: Oh, I'm not gonna tell you.
Stephanie: You're gonna tell me there's a surprise and not tell me what it is?
Philip: It's the spirit of Christmas, baby. Torture you with anticipation.
Stephanie: Come on!
Philip: You are gonna love this more than anything you could ever dream up, and I'm not gonna give you a clue as to what it is.
Stephanie: You're sadistic. I like that in a guy.
Philip: [Chuckles] So, what are you gonna do after this boring Christmas party?
Stephanie: Uh, Christmas stuff, family stuff.
Philip: I always got the impression that the Brady's were a little, uh, tepid about Christmas.
Stephanie: Oh, no. We all get together, and it's this huge -- you're making fun of me.
Philip: With a little bit of envy. I always, uh -- I don't know. The way the Brady's went all out for Christmas -- it just looked great to me.
Stephanie: I'm glad you said that, because...
Stephanie: Because I was gonna see if you wanted to join us.
Hope: I'll do it.
Bo: Don't look.
Hope: I won't. Cross my heart. Scooch over. You had another one of those images, didn't you?
Bo: Yeah. It's --
Hope: I'm sorry. It must be awful.
Bo: Yeah, it is. I mean -- I got this feeling there's a kid who's in some kind of trouble and there's nothing I can do about it.
Hope: And they started after the accident.
Bo: Yeah, when I got home from the hospital. You know, I feel like I got a screw loose. I feel like I'm going crazy here.
Hope: You're not. I know you're not.
Bo: How would you know that?
Hope: Because I think I know why this is happening to you.
Daniel: Hmm. Should I save you the trouble of reading this?
Kate: [Exhales deeply] You're still smiling, so --
Daniel: And for a good reason. While it may be some time before we know if the bone marrow will take, your last test says... you are in good shape -- good enough to go home for Christmas.
Kate: Oh, my God. Yes!
Daniel: And if everything goes as I'm sure it will, you might even be able to stay home, although I'm sure you're gonna miss these luxurious accommodations.
Kate: Oh, thank God.
Daniel: And --
Kate: [Exhales deeply]
Daniel: Hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey.
Kate: [Exhales deeply] I don't know what I would do without you.
Lucas: So you're not coming with me?
Chloe: Well, it's just that you and your mom haven't had any time alone.
Lucas: Come on. She's gonna want to see you wear that necklace.
Chloe: I know, but there's plenty of time for that later.
Lucas: This is her way of inviting you into the family, and what's she gonna think if you don't show up?
Chloe: Well, I called her and told her how much I appreciated it.
Lucas: Come on. What's going on here? Is there something you're not telling me? [Cellphone rings] Hey, Mom. What's up?
Brady: You see, one of the things I've tried to drum into my head this past year is that you have to think things through. What might seem like a good, positive situation might actually not -- I hate spouting off this rehab stuff, but it kind of saved my life.
Victor: I get it. So it's not just taking the job at Titan. It means moving back to Salem... being part of the family again... coming home.
Brady: I had to be truthful with myself, and I want you to know it meant the world to me that you want me back.
Brady: I had to ask myself, truthfully, can I handle the pressure? Can I handle the family and stay clean? And I think I can, and that is why I will accept the job.
Brady: As long as I don't have to wear a suit.
Victor: You can wear a grass skirt, for all I care, as long as you do a good job. And I wouldn't have offered it to you if I didn't think you could.
Brady: Now, I know that Philip is gonna have some worries about me coming on board, so I'm gonna be clear on the fact that I do answer to him and I'm just here to make his job easier.
Victor: Good to know.
Brady: And I'll tell him the same thing once I see him.
Victor: Why don't you put a pin in that? You're gonna see Philip at the party in a little while, and, you know, the Titan Christmas party is really not the time for that particular conversation.
Victor: It is the time, though, to announce that Brady Black is back at Titan.
Brady: You're not gonna let me ease into this, are you?
Victor: Oh, come on. Humor me. I like big announcements. Besides, these Christmas parties are so boring. You need something to spice them up.
Brady: You were pretty sure that I was going to say yes, weren't you?
Victor: Well, let's just say I wasn't prepared to take no for an answer.
Stephanie: I mean, I know you have a ton of stuff to do and my family always celebrates Christmas at the hospital, and I'm sure you hate it there now, so if you don't want to --
Philip: Do you usually do this?
Stephanie: Do what?
Philip: Extend an invitation and then go on at length about what a crummy idea it is?
Stephanie: I was just giving you an out, just in case you didn't want to come.
Philip: I don't need an out. I would love to come.
Stephanie: Good! I mean...good.
Philip: [Chuckles] So, Brady Christmas's -- very traditional?
Stephanie: I guess you could say that, yeah.
Philip: That means there will be more...mistletoe, right?
Stephanie: You got a serious thing for that stuff now, huh?
Melanie: Get a room.
Max: [Chuckles] Yeah, what now?
Melanie: Are you at the pub?
Max: Yeah. Why?
Melanie: Stay there. I'm coming over to talk to you.
Philip: Leaving already? We haven't even had our secret Santa.
Melanie: There's something I have to take care of, okay? I'll be back.
Philip: I'm sure you will.
Melanie: Look, it's never fun knowing you're not wanted. But around Christmastime, it's especially hard.
Philip: Look, Melanie, I --
Melanie: I thought we were gonna be professional about this, but you got to make it personal, and that just sucks.
Lexie: Let's go.
Chelsea: He sure loves that little doggy, doesn't he?
Lexie: Yeah, yeah, he does. I just love it when he makes a connection with something. Thank you so much, Chelsea.
Chelsea: Oh, it was not me. It was Max.
Lexie: Well, thank Max for me. What is it, honey?
Chelsea: What's wrong? What happened?
Lexie: He squeezed my hand. It must be all this activity.
Chelsea: Oh, well, if you want, I can take him home and we can watch TV together.
Lexie: Oh, no, no, no, no. It's okay. It's all right. We have a date. We're gonna watch the ships go by -- just the two of us, right, sweetheart?
Chelsea: He really likes doing that, huh?
Lexie: Oh, yeah. Yeah, he does. So do I. Just me and Theo, without a care in the world.
Bo: How do you know what I'm going through?
Hope: Because I'm going through exactly the same thing.
Hope: Okay, not exactly the same, not when I'm awake. I keep having all these nightmares. Always about a child in danger, not being a-- it's Christmas, Brady. Everything gets stirred up.
Bo: You mean Zack?
Hope: Of course I mean Zack. I think about him, grieve him, and I just feel so alone. Brady... I know you're going through the same thing. And even now... it's just so hard. I know that.
Bo: To go through this together.
Hope: I know I pull away, and then you pull away, and then all of a sudden, we're in this awful place. It's like --
Bo: It's like we shouldn't even be remembering him.
Hope: In my mind... he grows up. [Chuckles] I know what we should get him for Christmas.
Bo: Yeah, he's in need of a new baseball uniform.
Hope: No matter how hard things are... we need to go through this together.
Bo: Yeah. We will. We always do.
Philip: I don't know why you would take this personally.
Melanie: I didn't mean it like that. I just --
Melanie: Around Christmastime when you're alone -- look, I'm really glad that you let me stay on the project, but I also know that you don't want me around. I ju-- I can't -- I can't -- I can't do this.
Stephanie: Tell me you didn't fall for that.
Philip: I didn't fall for that.
Philip: But --
Stephanie: Oh, no. This is like déjà vu with Max.
Philip: Hey, look, just because I'm showing Melanie a little bit of pity doesn't mean I trust her an inch.
Stephanie: Thank goodness. It's just she's that girl that gives girls a bad name.
Philip: Hey, let's change the subject. So, you want to know what I want for Christmas?
Stephanie: I'm afraid to ask.
Lucas: Hey. What's the good news, huh?
Daniel: I'm supposed to deliver something.
Chloe: Not now, Daniel. Please. Okay? Just leave.
Kate: Well, Daniel told me that I'm going to be able to go home for the holidays. And if everything goes well, I'll be able to stay.
Lucas: That's great. That's great news. Did you hear that, Chloe?
Chloe: Yeah, that's wonderful.
Kate: Well, I want to take some pictures, because I'm leaving the hospital and, as God is my witness, I am never coming back here again.
Lucas: Okay. If you say so.
Kate: I do say so. And when I have those photos, when anything's going wrong in my life, I'll be able to whip them out and say, "at least I'm not there."
Daniel: Let me. You two just get on each side of her, and I'll take it.
Lucas: You sure? Just that first one right there.
Daniel: Right here?
Kate: Thank you.
Daniel: There you go. Get in there. I got this. All right. That -- that's it. One more. Yeah, that's good. There you go. All right. That's good. Thanks. I better get going, anyway.
Kate: Okay, Jonas, just one minute, because I also want a photograph of the two people who saved my life, so I want a picture of you and Chloe together.
Hope: Zack made this.
Bo: I know.
Hope: I put it on the tree last year -- in the back, hidden.
Bo: I didn't say anything, but I knew.
Hope: Look, I don't want to hurt Chelsea, but I really think maybe it's time we stopped hiding from what happened.
Bo: You forgave her. She knows that. Everybody knows that. Zack will be part of this Christmas and all our Christmases.
Hope: [Sniffles] Thank you.
Bo: Hey. You're the one who knows how to get us through this.
Hope: Yeah, I'm just guessing, like you are.
Bo: Well, we'll keep guessing together.
Hope: Okay. [Smoke alarm beeping]
Hope: Oh, God.
Bo: Our annual smoke-alarm fiasco.
Hope: I'll try to save the turkey. You kill that thing and stomp on it.
Bo: All right. [Beeping stops]
Chelsea: I'm -- I'm sorry.
Bo: Chelsea, come here. Come on. Don't run. Don't run.
Chelsea: I can't -- I know -- I can't be here.
Bo: Yes, you can. Yes, you can. Listen. We put up that ornament --
Chelsea: Look, I know that you try, okay? I know that you do, but somewhere deep down inside you still have to hate me. You have to.
Bo: No, kid. No. I don't hate you.
Chelsea: Every time I see that ornament, it makes my heart hurt. I can't imagine what it does to you and Hope.
Bo: Hey, hey, look. We just decided that Zack would be part of our Christmas.
Chelsea: But it's my fault. It's my fault that he's not here. Just let me go.
Bo: Talk to Hope. Talk to me. Don't run.
Hope: Hey... we didn't put that ornament there to hurt you. We did it so we -- and I mean all of us -- can move on.
Chelsea: Hope, I deserve to hurt, okay? You guys didn't do anything.
Hope: I need your help, okay? I need your help. This year, we're gonna celebrate Zack's life, not always grieve his death. And we can't do that without you as part of the celebration. Your dad wouldn't be here without you. Do you think I could ever forget that? Chelsea, if you leave -- if you walk out that door -- it's not Christmas, not without you.
Melanie: [Chuckles] You look adorable.
Max: Tell me something I don't know. So, what? What's up? You sounded all stressed on the phone.
Melanie: Not stressed, just a lot has happened. Did you talk to Nick yet?
Melanie: He sort of signed over his fuel project to me.
Melanie: It was his idea.
Melanie: It was. I had nothing to do with it. [Clears throat] I guess he just wants to feel a little less guilty about everything that happened. So if I refused, really, I'd be doing a disservice.
Max: Right. Yeah, you were -- you were thinking about him, weren't you?
Melanie: Can you not talk to me like that right now, Max?
Melanie: There's more.
Max: There always is with you.
Melanie: Okay. Be mean to me. I guess I should be used to it by now.
Max: Okay. Fine. What -- what else? Hmm? Go on.
Melanie: Okay. The rest is that Philip's dad wants to keep me with the project, so he made me a consultant at Titan, and that really irked Philip. So now you can say something about how I totally deserve Philip treating me like dirt because I'm so horrible.
Max: So you're not only telling me what happened, but you're telling me how to react now, too.
Melanie: [Clears throat] Look, I called you from the Titan Christmas party because no one would talk to me or even say "Merry Christmas." It just made me feel kind of alone, so I wanted to see my brother. [Sniffles]
Max: Merry Christmas.
Melanie: God knows Dad wasn't the best guy -- right? -- But at least I wasn't alone on Christmas. Do you think maybe we could go somewhere and celebrate Christmas like a normal family?
Melanie: It's okay. You don't have to say anything. I know you're gonna spend it with the Brady's.
Philip: What I would like for Christmas is that on Christmas or after or before I spend time with your family, you spend time with mine.
Stephanie: Philip, I'd really love to --
Philip: But you'd rather stick needles in your eye?
Stephanie: No. No. But you and your father -- you're still kind of on shaky ground, and maybe showing up with a low-level intern isn't the best way to have him restore his confidence in you.
Philip: Stephanie, there is nothing about you that is low-level.
Stephanie: Don't. Um, look who's coming. Be nice.
Philip: I always am. Hey.
Philip: It's good to see you. I haven't seen nearly enough of you since you've been back.
Brady: Well, let's see how you feel in a week, huh? You might have seen enough of me to last a lifetime.
Lucas: I can't get it like this. You guys just get a little closer for me real quick.
Kate: Daniel, you can put your arm around her. I don't think she's gonna break. Oh, I want to see the necklace. Could you just unbutton one button? Chloe?
Lucas: There. And now together. One more time. Places. This all should work.
Kate: Oh, my God. Daniel, you look like you're climbing the stairs to a guillotine. You could put your arm around her.
Lucas: This damn thing. This red, flashing light. What the hell is that?
Daniel: Would you just take the damn picture?!
Lucas: There you go. Done. Oh, nice. Nice. You guys want to check this out?
Daniel: You know what? I'm sure -- I'm sure they're fine. I'm gonna call Philip and Chelsea and just give them the good news, and I'll put in your release papers, okay? [Door opens, closes]
Lucas: Boy, that was way fun. Is that guy weird, or what?
Chloe: Oh, I-I just think it made him nervous to waste time on taking pictures instead of getting back to work.
Kate: Really? I don't think it was that at all.
Philip: Uh, I'm not sure what you mean by that. [Cellphone ringing]
Philip: Excuse me. I got to take this. Hey, Daniel. Is something wrong?
Daniel: No. No. Not at all. I just called to tell you that your mother's test results were good -- so good that she can come home for Christmas.
Philip: That's great. Daniel, thank you. Thank you. I know how much you've done for her.
Daniel: Uh, yeah. Well, I got to go. I got to call Chelsea. Bye.
Brady: Hey. I didn't know you were working here.
Stephanie: I am just an intern.
Brady: Working for Philip. Is he driving you crazy yet?
Stephanie: No. Philip isn't the problem.
Brady: Really? Who is?
Max: Okay, Mel.
Melanie: I'm glad you have a family, Max. I really am.
Max: It's just I thought Maggie invited you to spend Christmas with their family. That's all.
Melanie: And she did. And I was so looking forward to opening up presents and Christmas caroling with people that blame me for everything that happened with Nick, like the lying and the stalking.
Max: I know the list.
Melanie: Well, you don't know how they look at me.
Max: No, I don't.
Melanie: You know what's worse than being alone on Christmas?
Melanie: Having everyone in Salem think you're the ghost of Christmas sucks and that you just bring everyone else down.
Max: Melanie, you're my sister. I'm not gonna let you spend Christmas alone.
Melanie: Yeah, well, I'm not gonna take you away from your family.
Max: I won't, which is why I'm -- I want you to come with me to the Brady's.
Bo: Chelse... look at me. I've told you this before, but you obviously need to hear it again. What happened to Zack was an accident. Nobody blames you. And you blaming yourself, punishing yourself doesn't do anybody any good. We want you to be okay, because we love you. And we need you to forgive yourself.
Chelsea: I don't know if I ever really can.
Bo: Hey, kid, listen to me. What you did for me, what you're doing with your life right now, helping other people -- that's about life. And that is what matters right now.
Chelsea: [Sniffles] I really did love him.
Hope: We know you did.
Chelsea: Well, I guess at Christmastime it's always good to be, um... home.
Hope: Merry Christmas, Chelsea.
Bo: Merry Christmas, kid. Merry Christmas.
Hope: Chelse, could you do me a favor? Neither one of us are able to get this package wrapped. Could you do the honors while I make the vegetables that no one is going to eat?
Hope: Thanks, honey.
Chelsea: She's a real cool woman.
Bo: Yeah, I think so.
Chelsea: Well, she knows to give me something to do with my hands so that I can't keep crying all night.
Bo: [Chuckles] Yeah, enough with the crying. Us macho guys don't like it much.
Chelsea: Right. It's kind of ironic, though, when you were talking about how I'm helping people and stuff. I was hanging out with Theo and Lexie earlier. Can you hand me the tape?
Chelsea: Thanks. And it was the first time that I actually felt like my life served a purpose. And it was really cute, because earlier Max had given Theo this little dog -- Charlie -- and he like can't stay away from it. He just keeps kissing it and hugging it. Dad? Are you okay?
Lexie: Aren't the ships beautiful? I saw three ships come sailing in on Christmas day, on Christmas day I saw three ships come sailing in on Christmas day in the morning [Sighs] Oh, sweetheart. I love you.
Theo: I love you.
Lexie: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, sweetheart. Oh, sweetheart.
Kate: I think Daniel was reluctant to pose for the photo because --
Chloe: Well, he's like me. He just doesn't like having his picture taken.
Kate: Yeah. We all know how much you hate attention.
Chloe: So, uh, you know what? I'm gonna give you two some time alone, and, Kate, I'm so happy about your news. Okay.
Lucas: See ya. What's with her? She's acting weird, too. Is something going on in here?
Kate: Well, I think it's pretty clear. They don't like each other.
Lucas: Yeah, it certainly looks that way, doesn't it?
Chelsea: [Exhales deeply]
Philip: Guess what. I have great news. My Mom's coming home for Christmas.
Stephanie: Philip, that's great!
Philip: I have to tell my Dad.
Brady: You and Philip?
Stephanie: Friends, Brady. Just friends.
Brady: For now.
Philip: So, she's coming home.
Victor: Well, that's great, Philip -- just great. It's exactly what you wanted for Christmas.
Victor: Oh, I've got some more good news. Brady accepted my offer.
Philip: What offer?
Victor: Oh, didn't I tell you? I'm going to make him the new Vice C.E.O. of Titan. And I want you to make the announcement -- right here, right now.
Melanie: You're the best brother ever!
Max: I know. Okay. Yes, this is very true.
Melanie: I was dreading Christmas, but now I can't wait.
Max: [Chuckles] The Brady's are my family.
Max: And I love them.
Max: So you need to be on your very best behavior.
Melanie: Max, I will say "please" and "thank you" and clean the dishes.
Melanie: Stephanie's gonna be there, isn't she?
Melanie: Is that gonna be hard for you?
Max: I don't know. It's not like I haven't seen her since the breakup.
Melanie: So it is gonna be hard for you. Don't worry. I'll be there to smooth things over.
Chelsea: Oh, my God. I just checked my messages, and Daniel said that grandma can come home for Christmas.
Hope: Honey, that's wonderful.
Chelsea: It's just weird. I just told myself to not even hope for it. You know what? I'm hungry. I haven't been hungry for like weeks.
Hope: Do me a favor? Be my taste taster. Tell me if the stuffing is edible. Come on.
Chelsea: Sounds like a plan.
Lucas: So, Chloe and Daniel can't stand each other?
Kate: Well, like you said, it looks that way.
Lucas: Hmm. Yeah, but the question is, is why?
Nurse: Excuse me, doctor. I have the new surgery rotation.
Daniel: You didn't -- you didn't get the memo? I'm not doing any surgery until further notice.
Nurse: Oh, boy. I get to do the schedule again. How fun.
Chloe: Daniel, wait. Uh, this is my fault, and I'm so sorry.
Philip: It just slipped your mind to tell me about this?
Victor: Well, you've been so busy.
Philip: Yeah, I think it's more fun this way. Pull my chain, show me exactly who's boss.
Victor: Maybe that's something that slipped your mind. Or maybe I just need somebody to watch your back, help you make decisions when you get, uh, emotionally involved.
Philip: What? That cool, level-headed Brady just got out of rehab in the nick of time, didn't he?
Victor: You have an announcement to make.
Philip: And if I don't?
Victor: I love you, Philip... but if you don't make this announcement... he won't be the Vice C.E.O. You understand?
Philip: More than you know.
Chloe: So I really am sorry.
Daniel: You already mentioned that... right after you slammed the door in my face and on my finger, which, by the way, is, uh... is fine. It's, uh, it's on the mend.
Chloe: But if you can't do surgery --
Daniel: No, I really... should go. Merry Christmas.
Chloe: Yeah. Merry Christmas to you, too.
Philip: You know what? It's your announcement. You make it.
Brady: Excuse me. What just happened?
Victor: Well, Philip's been a little temperamental lately. It's one of the reasons that I need you --
Brady: You didn't tell him, did you? He didn't know, did he?
Victor: That changes nothing.
Brady: You know what? I wouldn't bet on that.
Lexie: Whew. It's getting kind of cold out here, isn't it? How about we go home and have some hot chocolate, hmm? Okay.
Paramedic 1: What do we have?
Paramedic 2: The kid's unconscious.
Lexie: Theo, no!
Paramedic 1: What's his B.P.? This child's not breathing.
Lexie: Theo, come back! Theo!
Lexie: Please don't let him die. Theo!
Bo: Theo? Oh, my God.
Daniel: Hey, you don't have to worry about it.
Chloe: But I do. And I can't stop.
Nicole: I need money -- a lot -- and I can't tell you why.
Lexie: I think he went off -- off the pier. Girls!
