Daniel: I didn't expect to see you here.
Lucas: What? Too hard?
Chloe: Almost perfect.
Lucas: "Almost" perfect? Come on.
Chloe: [Chuckles] Well, I got to give you something to strive for.
Lucas: Well, you have a big knot on the left side.
Chloe: And you know who put it there.
Lucas: I don't want to talk about that right now. Ooh, now it's loosening up, see?
Lucas: That's not a good "uhh." You're gonna ruin all my good work I got going here.
Chloe: I can't help it, Lucas. She drives me crazy. When I found out that she's pregnant again -- when is that woman not pregnant?
Lucas: Well, can we just not talk about her?
Chloe: I assumed the baby was yours. Oh, my God. I almost lost it.
Lucas: Chloe, please.
Chloe: I swear, I just wanted to strangle her. But now that I know the baby is E.J.'s and she's finally planning to tell him it's his --
Lucas: All right. You know what? Enough is enough. I really don't want to discuss this.
Chloe: What? I was just venting.
Lucas: It's boring, okay? It's the same old thing. I don't want to talk about Sami anymore. It's the worst. Can't we just enjoy this evening together? I do not want to ruin another evening with you.
Chloe: Okay, okay. Me neither. Sorry.
Lucas: There's a million things I'd rather be doing right now.
Chloe: Oh, yeah? Like what?
Lucas: "Like what?" Is that a challenge?
Lucas: Want me to show you?
Spencer: Am I getting closer?
Sami: Yeah. Yeah. But his eyes -- I think they were bigger, kind of maybe more round. I don't know. I'm sorry. I'm not very good at describing him, but I'm telling you, if I ever saw him again --
Marlena: Oh, Sami. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. What you've been through.
Sami: Mom -- Mom, I saw the mayor. He was shot. He had blood on him.
Marlena: I know. I know. I heard.
Sami: And the guy was gonna shoot me next.
Marlena: Honey, it's okay. You're all right now.
Sami: But I had just seen a couple hours ago, and he was alive and well. Oh, God, it's just so creepy. It freaks me out.
Marlena: I know. I know. It's gonna be okay, sweetie.
Sami: Mom, it's bust so horrible.
Marlena: Who would have done such a terrible thing?
Tony: Lexie, are you gonna tell me what's wrong?
Lexie: Abe must be inside already.
Tony: The whole way over, you just kept nodding your head.
Lexie: Yeah, he's having lunch with some of his supporters.
Tony: I know what Abe's doing. It's you I'm concerned about. Lexie, look at me.
Tony: Lexie, look at me. Is this just about the Marino murder? I mean, it's absolutely shocking. But you called me and you said that you needed to speak to me urgently, so what the hell's going on?
Lexie: Okay, it's not just that Marino was killed. It's my part in it.
Tony: Your part?
Lexie: I may be the one who got him killed.
John: Nicole... what are you doing? Oh, no. You're having your baby. Okay. Just relax. I'll -- I'll -- I'll get you to the hospital.
Nicole: No, no, John. It's fine. It's -- it's gone.
John: No, no. You're doubled over in pain. I'll have to call the ambulance.
Nicole: No, I swear, I'm fine, all right? It was just a little pain in my side.
John: Well, that's because you're pregnant. We can't take chances. You need to get checked out.
Nicole: I already got checked out -- earlier at the hospital. E.J. and I were there, and the doctor gave me a clean bill of health, okay?
John: Well, perhaps something has changed. Don't you think you should go back and get a second opinion?
Nicole: No! I'm fine! I'm not going back!
Sami: I just can't believe this is actually happening. I mean, it feels like some sort of weird nightmare that I can't even wake up from.
Marlena: Honey... I know it's hard, but... try to tell me what happened right after you saw the killer.
Sami: The second I saw him, I screamed. And then he pointed a gun at me, so I shut up. And then I felt sort of frozen, but, um, I-I finally just did something. I-I didn't really think it through. I just hit him with my purse, and I ran.
Marlena: Into the house?
Sami: Nicole and E.J. were there. And I tried to tell them what happened, but Nicole was accusing me of making the whole thing up just to get sympathy from E.J. or something.
Marlena: Oh, for heaven's sake. Of course it was real. You were terrified. [Exhales deeply]
Sami: I was the lucky one. I mean, the mayor was just laying there dead, and, um -- I mean, he was shot right here, so he didn't suffer, right? I mean, it had to be instantaneous.
Marlena: I don't know, but I'm sure that his family -- his wife and children -- are suffering terribly.
Sami: I mean, I get the guy had enemies, but how could someone just do that -- someone just shoot him? Who would want to kill him?
Man: Didn't I tell you to stop worrying? I give my word, I keep it. By the end of the night, Samantha Brady will be dead.
John: I don't think I understand.
Nicole: There's nothing to understand, John. Look, I don't -- I don't know why you're pushing. You of all people should be sensitive to my hatred of hospitals.
John: Well, my issues with hospitals are a little different than yours.
Nicole: Oh, yeah. I know. Stefano faked your death and used you as a lab rat for months. You know, I heard it's gonna be a Ripley's Believe It or Not! exhibit.
John: Are you being snide with me now?
Nicole: I'm sorry. I forgot you're humor-deprived.
John: After what I went through, just hearing the whirring of an E.K.G. turns my blood cold. What's your excuse?
Nicole: [Scoffs] Well, since you're obviously bursting to know... it's, uh, it's E.J. I-I-I can't complain to him again. He'll think I'm being manipulative -- drumming up the drama to keep him focused on me and not Sami.
John: But he knows that your pregnancy is high-risk.
Nicole: Yeah, but even so, he called me out earlier on one of my episodes, so -- he said I was being a bit over the top, and you know what? To tell you the truth, I don't blame him. I did go a little overboard. Where is E.J., anyway? What, is he churning the ice cream himself?
John: Well, I don't know. But, Nicole, if you think there is a problem, you need to go get checked out.
Nicole: Okay, would you stop, please? Look, I'm fine, all right? I am perfectly healthy. See? Look at me. Ooh-ooh-hoo. No harm, no foul.
John: Okay. I'll take your word for it.
Nicole: And would you give me your word?
Nicole: This little incident. I was, uh, I was hoping you wouldn't tell anyone, especially E.J. I wouldn't want him to worry unnecessarily.
John: Okay. You have my word.
Nicole: You're a prince, John. Thank you.
Spencer: Take care, Miss Brady.
Sami: Great. Thank you for your help.
Marlena: Thank you. Well, it looks like you're done. So, can you leave?
Sami: No. He said that my Dad wants me to stick around. Probably gonna set up a cot for me in the detective area.
Marlena: Oh. I have an idea.
Marlena: Why don't you pack up your things when you're ready and grab the twins and come stay with me for a while?
Tony: What did you mean before, that you felt responsible for Marino's murder?
Lexie: I gave father an ultimatum. I explained how Marino had been trying to destroy Abe's career and reputation and mine and how he'd even gone after our little boy. I told Father that if he didn't cut off his financial and political support of Marino that he would never see Theo again.
Tony: And you're beating yourself up for that? It was a perfectly reasonable ultimatum given the circumstances, and you did what you had to.
Lexie: Yeah, right, what I had to do to save our precious reputations, and now a man is dead, tony. My ultimatum resulted in murder. How the hell is that reasonable? [Sighs]
Tony: Listen to me. Lexie, Father can be cruel and ruthless. My God, I'm stating the obvious. My point being, you can't automatically assume that Father was behind Marino's murder, unless, of course -- did he admit that he was?
Lexie: No. No. Of course not. Of course not. He -- he was outraged that I would accuse him. He said that he had done me this favor and that I had turned on him.
Tony: Another thing -- if Father was behind the murder, why would he have had the man shot in front of the mansion? Wouldn't he have found a less obvious place to commit the crime? I mean, the man's ruthless, but he's not stupid.
Lexie: Yeah, he pointed that out, too.
Tony: And yet you're not convinced of his innocence?
Lexie: [Sighs] It's just the coincidence of it, Tony. I tell Father that Marino is going after me and my family. And on the very same day, the man ends up dead?
Tony: Yeah, the timing's strange. I admit it. But, still, I wouldn't read anything into it.
Lexie: It's not just a matter of where Marino was killed or the timing of it. It's just more of a gut feeling, Tony. I just can't help shake the feeling that Father committed this crime -- that he killed Marino for me.
Stefano: How could you let something like this happen on my doorstep? Uh-huh. Here come the excuses. Excuses are for cowards and children. I don't pay you to blather and whine, all right? I pay you to produce. Now, you listen to me, you stammering twit. I'm telling you --
E.J.: Father? I think it's time you and I had a little chat.
Daniel: Another great day, huh? Indian summer.
Philip: You didn't expect to see me? This is my house. It says "Kiriakis" on the mailbox. You didn't notice that on your way in?
Daniel: I'm sorry. Is there some kind of problem?
Philip: Why would there be a problem? Mi casa es su casa. That's Spanish for "help yourself to whatever the hell you need."
Daniel: Victor said it was all right if I go swimming here anytime I want.
Philip: How generous of him.
Daniel: Well, it's no ocean, but it works.
Philip: Yeah. Yeah, it must really crush your chi to have to slum it with us city folk.
Daniel: Have you got something you want to get off your chest?
Philip: Actually, yeah, there is something I want to get off my chest.
Stefano: I'm afraid we'll have to continue this conversation later. Problem, Elvis?
E.J.: So, who are you talking to?
Stefano: A business associate. What can I do for you?
E.J.: You can give me some bloody answers, please.
Stefano: Why are you so hostile?
E.J.: Why am I so hostile? Oh, I don't know. There was a dead body on my doorstep and my child could have been home.
Stefano: He wasn't, was he?
E.J.: No, luckily he wasn't.
Stefano: You know, your anger is misdirected, because I'm on your side.
E.J.: We'll see about that.
Stefano: A little snack?
E.J.: Yes. Yeah. This is for Nicole. She's having this 'cause she just came back from the hospital, having been checked out.
Stefano: She's all right, I hope.
E.J.: She's fine. But she does not need any more stress in her life, all right? I'm counting on you for that.
Stefano: I assure you, there will be nothing to jeopardize the health and well-being of my future heir.
E.J.: Yeah. You would phrase it like that, wouldn't you?
Stefano: All right. You have made your point. You better go before that turns to soup.
John: I'm glad I caught you.
Stefano: Oh, I don't have time to talk, John.
John: I don't care.
Stefano: All right. All right. Spit it out.
John: If you think this is another one of your games, you're wrong.
Stefano: I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
John: Listen to me, brother. My patience is wearing razor thin. I know about the hit put on Anthony Marino, and I know that you're behind it.
Stefano: That is absolutely preposterous.
John: Samantha saw the shooter's face.
Stefano: So? You are hissing at the wrong jaguar, John.
John: I'm putting you on notice. If anything happens to Blondie's daughter, if one hair on her head is ruffled, I come after you.
Stefano: [Chuckling] Oh, John, you know -- you know, your threats are becoming comical.
John: You don't want to laugh at me.
Stefano: I'm sorry, John, but we're gonna have to continue this charming, little chat a little later.
John: Obviously I didn't get it through your thick skull, so I'm gonna run it by you one more time. Make no mistake. Anything happens to Samantha, you're dead.
Chloe: First a great massage. Now this. How'd I get so lucky, huh? [Both chuckle]
Lucas: There is no luck involved. You did everything right.
Chloe: Me? What did I do?
Lucas: You were born perfect.
Lucas: Mm-hmm. Talented, smart, incredibly beautiful.
Chloe: Well, thank you so much. What I meant was, I'm really lucky I found you.
Lucas: Come on. Who we kidding? I'm the lucky one. Got to turn that around.
Chloe: Mmm. Well, we found each other. How's that?
Lucas: Well, I'm just glad it happened, because you are just too much. You're perfect. Miss Lane, you really are a keeper.
Chloe: Don't you forget it.
Lucas: I'm not gonna forget it.
Sami: All of us? The twins, me -- everyone in the townhouse with you?
Marlena: I've got lots of room, and I would love to have you there with me.
Sami: Mom, I doubt you'd be saying that after you saw the mess and the toys everywhere and the crying in the middle of the night.
Marlena: Oh, it sounds wonderful to me.
Sami: Well, thank you very much. I really appreciate the offer, but, uh, but I can't.
Marlena: You have a plan?
Sami: I'm staying with Lucas at the cabin.
Marlena: On the island?
Marlena: Uh, I didn't realize this was an open-ended arrangement.
Sami: Yeah. Yeah, it's working out great. Allie is really happy being with both of her parents.
Marlena: I'm sure, but I --
Sami: You don't approve?
Marlena: I'm just -- I'm not sure that Chloe would approve. Isn't she spending a lot of her time there?
Sami: Yeah. Yeah, she's around a lot. I guess I really haven't talked to her about it.
Marlena: You know, I think you might want to do that.
Sami: Well, we will -- eventually. It's just, you know, a sensitive subject. Lots of potential drama.
Marlena: I think you should nip that potential in the bud.
Sami: Mom, don't worry. I'm not gonna turn the Horton cabin into a war zone, okay? What? What's that look for?
Marlena: Sami, look at me. I'd like an answer to why you're spending time with your ex-husband. And I would like you to tell me the truth.
Marlena: Sami, the last thing that I want to do is put you on the spot, but I-I've sensed something different about you the last few days. I don't know what it is exactly. You're just -- you're not yourself. [Door opens]
Sami: Well --
John: Hello, Samantha.
Sami: John. Hey.
John: I heard what happened -- the mayor's murder. I came to check on you. You okay?
Sami: Thank you. Yeah, I'm okay.
Marlena: Hello, John.
John: So, what are you two arguing about?
Marlena: Oh, we're not arguing. I was busy asking Sami if she would come and stay with me, and she was busy saying no.
Sami: Mom, come on. Not now.
John: You can stay with me if you like. I've rented a gigantic suite at the Salem Inn. So if you and your babies need a place to camp out, temporarily, you're more than welcome.
Sami: Thanks a lot, John. I appreciate the offer, but I'm actually staying with Lucas.
John: Oh, yes. Horton cabin.
Sami: Exactly. Uh, in fact, I should call him so he can come pick me up.
Marlena: I could give you a ride to the ferry.
Sami: No, thanks. I'll just -- thanks, anyway.
John: Everything okay?
Marlena: No, it's not. She's in some kind of trouble. I know it.
Sami: Come on, Lucas. Please pick up. Where the hell are you? Pick up the phone. [Cellphone vibrates]
Tony: Well, it looks like Abe's informal luncheon is being co-opted by your friendly neighborhood media.
Lexie: And Abe doesn't look happy.
Tony: Well, maybe you should go inside and take some of the focus off him.
Lexie: No, I can't go in there.
Tony: Well, why not?
Lexie: What if they start questioning me about the murder, Tony?
Tony: Well, you're under no obligation to say anything. Just say, "no comment." Hell, say nothing at all.
Lexie: Yeah. Abe.
Abe: Lexie, there you are. Why didn't you come inside?
Lexie: Oh, Tony and I were just talking.
Abe: Hey, Tony.
Tony: Nice to see you, Abe.
Lexie: So, how's it going in there?
Abe: Oh, I'm gonna tell you, it's exhausting. I told them I needed a five-minute break.
Tony: Why are they even in there?
Abe: [Chuckles] Well, that's what I'd like to know. I planned a small support rally with a few of my advisors to discuss the mayor's assassination, and then before we knew it, a press conference broke out.
Tony: Can they even do that?
Abe: Well, it's a public place. It's public domain. But I would prefer to have my wife beside me, if you don't mind, Tony.
Tony: No, no, not at all. Lexie and I are done. Besides, you two intend to get together.
Lexie: They won't be asking me any questions, will they, I mean about the mayor's murder?
Abe: Ask you questions? Why would they do that? You know, Tony, if you want to come in, too, that would be -- if you have the time, that is. I mean, we'd love to have you. You're very welcome to join us.
Tony: Oh, absolutely. I'd like to lend my support in the best way I can.
Abe: Well, good. Let's go.
Lexie: All right.
E.J.: That looks pretty good.
Nicole: [Chuckles] Thanks.
E.J.: Here you go.
E.J.: Is it good?
E.J.: It is?
Nicole: Mm-hmm. It's amazing.
E.J.: You feeling better?
Nicole: Yeah, I'm feeling better -- now that you're here. What took you so long?
E.J.: I stopped to have a little chat with my father. That's why the ice cream's a little soft around the edges.
Nicole: I like it like that.
Nicole: So, how'd it go, I mean, with Stefano?
E.J.: Um, he is now under strict instructions not to cause you any stress. I made it very clear.
Nicole: Well, thank you. I like it when you fuss over me.
E.J.: Well, get used to it.
Nicole: [Chuckles] You know, um, when you said that you wanted everything -- the house, the picket fence, the yard, the kids -- and you wanted it with me... I just -- I-I already told you.
E.J.: That's okay. You can tell me again.
Nicole: It's just that nobody's ever said anything like that to me before, and it's just made me so happy. I'm sure you've noticed. And I just -- I wish I had a recording so I could play it over and over and over again.
E.J.: Well, you know, if you like, I could just say it over and over and over and over and over again.
Nicole: [Chuckles] I'd like that.
E.J.: I want the same things that you do, and I want them with you.
Nicole: So, if it's a boy...
Nicole: ...I was thinking the name "Henry." What do you think?
E.J.: "Henry." I like "Henry." That's a good name.
Nicole: Or "George." I don't know. I like them both. They're so good. But, then, I like Christopher.
E.J.: "Christopher." "Christopher"!
E.J.: Yeah, I like "Christopher."
Nicole: And if it's a little girl, I was thinking -- [Inhales sharply] Ow.
E.J.: What's wrong? Are you okay? Sweetheart, are you all right? Is it the baby?
Abe: I want to assure the people of Salem that their concerns will be heard.
Reporter 1: Mr. Carver!
Reporter 2: Would you please -- would you care to comment further on the murder of Mayor Marino at your father-in-law's estate?
Abe: As I said earlier, it was a tragic event. And our hearts do go out to the Marino family. Are there any other questions?
Reporter 1: Uh, yes. One for Mrs. Carver. Is it true that your father, a notorious crime lord, funded much of the mayor's campaign?
Reporter 2: Is it also true that Mr. DiMera made significant contributions to your husband's campaign, as well?
Abe: Uh, I can't speak to the late mayor's financial practices, but I can speak to mine. I have never taken a dime from Stefano DiMera, and I never will.
Chloe: Have I told you what a wonderful day this has been?
Lucas: Mm-hmm. Yeah, you have -- about a million times.
Chloe: Well, I'm telling you again. [Cellphone vibrating] Ignore it.
Lucas: I can't. I can't. It might be about Allie. Sorry about that. Hello.
Sami: How come you don't ever answer the damn phone?!
Sami: Hello! I've been calling you forever. What if it had been something important? What if it had been about your daughter?
Lucas: All right. I answered it now, didn't I? What's going on?
Sami: I need you to come get me.
Lucas: Come get you? I'm a bit busy.
Sami: I don't care if you're having brain surgery. Lucas, I need you.
Lucas: Where are you?
Sami: At the police station.
Lucas: You're at the police station? Why?
Sami: You know, I just came face-to-face with a hit man today.
Lucas: You what?
Sami: I'm not gonna say it again. Lucas, I'll explain the entire thing when you get here. Please hurry.
Chloe: What was that about?
Lucas: It was Sami. I got to go get her.
Chloe: What, and she's at the police station?
Lucas: Yes. I told her I'd pick her up.
Chloe: Are you kidding me? Lucas, you don't have to do that.
Lucas: Yeah, I do, all right? I'll be back as soon as I can.
Lucas: As soon as I know she's fine.
Daniel: That's a hell of a right hook.
Philip: Get out of here.
Daniel: Well, that was my intention until you swung at me.
Philip: Did you expect me to be cordial to you? You mess around with my Mother, then come around this house, knowing you might run into me. I knew you were a callous son of a bitch, but, man, you have out done yourself.
Daniel: I'll see you around.
Philip: What, you don't have the guts to admit it? You don't think I know everything that goes on here? You think I don't know what happened right there between you and my Mother?
Daniel: I'm not gonna discuss my personal life with you.
Philip: Of course not, because you're two-faced and you're a fraud.
Daniel: We're not gonna do this here.
Philip: What, you want to schedule a more convenient beat down? When's good for you?
Daniel: You ever think about your mother instead of yourself? Is that possible?
Philip: What are you talking about?
Daniel: Think about what makes her happy, not what pleases you.
Philip: You think you make her happy?
Daniel: I think I do. No, skip it. I'm not gonna do it here with you.
Philip: Because you don't have the guts.
Daniel: No. Because you're a vindictive little bastard, and I've had it with you in my face. I will not take any more of your bull. Never misunderstand that.
Philip: Don't think for a second you have me fooled, Daniel. I know what kind of man you really are.
Daniel: Do you? What kind of man am I?
Philip: Bottom line -- you're good for my Mother, so stay the hell away from her.
E.J.: What is going on, Nicole? Is this the baby? All right. I'm gonna call an ambulance.
Nicole: No, no, no, no. E.J., don't. It's passed. It's passed.
E.J.: Are you all right? How do you feel?
Nicole: It's just a -- a little pain. It's not severe. It -- it scared me a little bit, but I'm fine now.
E.J.: No, I'm sorry. I'm not so sure about this.
Nicole: It's -- it's just my leg.
E.J.: What -- what do you mean, it's your leg?
Nicole: Yeah. I just got a little -- a little cramp in it. That's all. I think I've just been sitting too long. You know, when you get those little pins and needles in it and it falls asleep?
E.J.: [Exhales deeply]
Nicole: I'm fine. You know, I think I'm gonna take Pookie for a walk. That'll do the trick.
E.J.: No, I'm sorry. I'm not sure if that's a good idea.
Nicole: I'm fine, really. Look, you want to come, get a little bonding time in with the Pooks?
E.J.: I -- Nicole, I'm really not sure that you shouldn't just be resting.
Nicole: E.J., I think this is good for me -- a walk. It'll be great, and you should come. It'll be fun.
E.J.: I can't. Look, I've got to go into the office and get some things cleared up, that is if you're really gonna be okay.
Nicole: Yeah, I'm positive.
E.J.: You promise me, okay? If I get there and I get a phone call from you. You tell me something's --
Nicole: I'll be fine. Stop worrying, okay?
E.J.: You call me if there's anything.
Nicole: I will. I'll see you later.
E.J.: Yeah. See you later.
John: You worry too much, Blondie.
Marlena: Well, that's easy for you to say.
John: Isn't it supposed to be better to think positively?
Marlena: Well, that's splendid advice, John, and so terribly original.
John: I just read that...
Marlena: However, when a child of yours is in trouble, it is hard to just think positively!
John: Don't get mad at me.
Marlena: I'm not mad at you! I-I'm frustrated. I don't like it when my daughter is so secretive, and she's been doing a lot of that.
John: Hmm. Oh. You think she's keeping something from you?
Marlena: That's what "secretive" usually means, J-- oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I don't mean to take it out on you. Please -- please forgive me.
John: That's okay.
Marlena: Thank you for offering to have Sami come and stay with you. That was very generous of you.
John: Well, I just wanted her to know that I'm there for her if she needs me.
Marlena: Well, I'm sure she's very -- very grateful.
John: Yeah. So, what are you up to? Not filing divorce papers that I know of.
Marlena: Wow. Smooth segue.
John: Well, I'm just saying that if you filed the divorce papers, you probably would have clued me in.
Marlena: Yes, I would have, and -- and I didn't.
John: Yeah, so, why not? I mean, I thought you were so anxious to move on with your life, to make a fresh start, to get me out of your hair once and for all.
Marlena: I never said that.
John: Well, you're the one that wanted a divorce. It was your idea, so what's the holdup? Why aren't you pushing through with it?
Marlena: I don't know.
Sami: Thanks -- Chloe, hey.
Chloe: Sami. Whoa. You are really starting to show, huh?
Sami: What did you say?
Chloe: Oh, don't be so sensitive. So, you look a little chubby. So what? That pregnancy glow more than makes up for it.
Sami: Lucas, I can't believe that you told her that I'm pregnant. What the hell were you thinking?
Chloe: Oh, relax, would you? It's not like I'm gonna go shout it from the rooftops. I don't even care. As long as Lucas is not involved, as far as I'm concerned, you can have triplets.
Sami: I don't need this right now.
Lucas: So, you didn't tell E.J.?
Sami: You know what? You lost any right to ask me anything, Lucas, when you gave away my secret to your girlfriend.
Lucas: No, she didn't tell him.
Chloe: Of course she didn't. Sami's never been upfront about anything her whole life. Why start now?
Lucas: Wait a minute. Where you going?
Chloe: To see a friend. I'll be back later. Maybe.
Lucas: Great. Was that part of your plan all along?
Sami: Oh, yeah. I love it when a plan comes together. Are you kidding me? I don't care about Chloe. She's the last thing on my mind right now, and that makes you very lucky.
Lucas: Oh, now I'm lucky. How am I lucky?
Sami: Because normally I would be extremely upset right now that you had given away my secret to her and told her that I was pregnant when I begged you not to. But luckily for you, I have bigger things to worry about.
Lucas: Yeah, I can see that. Had a rough day, huh?
Sami: "A rough day" doesn't exactly cover it. I mean, I lived through a horror show this morning. It was terrorizing. I saw the mayor dead, lying there, shot in the chest. And then I came face-to-face with the man who killed him.
Daniel: You think I'm gonna take orders from you? Who do you think you are?
Philip: With my Mother being ill, the last thing she needs is you messing with her head.
Daniel: The last thing she needs is her son interfering in her life.
Philip: I'm just trying to protect her.
Daniel: From someone who cares about her, who only wants what's best for her.
Philip: [Chuckling] Yeah. Oh, that's you -- so loyal and caring. That's why you had an affair with Chelsea right after you slept with my Mother. Was that like two weeks later?
Daniel: You have no idea what you're talking about.
Philip: But now you're back with my Mom. Why is that? I mean, she's going through a bad time. She's sick. Do you feel sorry for her? Is that what this is about?
Daniel: I'm not even gonna dignify that with a response. I will just tell you, not that you deserve to hear it, but for her sake -- I will explain how I feel about your mother. She is a wonderful woman -- compassionate, generous, smart. I have never known anyone like her. She makes me feel... good about myself. And so she and I -- we need each other right now.
Philip: [Exhales deeply] I'm out of it. I'm out of it. For her sake.
Lexie: Do you think that went well? It was a disaster, Tony.
Tony: No, no, no. I think Abe did a wonderful job deflecting the spotlight from you.
Lexie: No, the suspicion is still there, like I knew it would be.
Tony: Lexie, how many times do I have to tell you? You haven't done anything wrong. You didn't kill anyone. You didn't ask anyone to kill anyone. You've done nothing.
Abe: Is everything all right here? I mean, what are the two of you talking about?
Lucas: So when they catch this guy, all you have to do is pick him out of a lineup?
Sami: Pretty much, I guess.
Lucas: It's just unreal.
Sami: Yeah, pretty crazy.
Lucas: Well, at least you're okay. And what about telling E.J.?
Sami: Oh, Lucas, can we please focus on one trauma at a time?
Lucas: Well, you said that you made a decision to tell him the truth. You know what's gonna happen. The more time that goes by... I'm telling you, Sami, if you wait too long --
Sami: No, I --
E.J.: Samantha. Lucas.
Lucas: Elvis DiMera. Your ears must be burning. Look, Sami. Look who's here.
Officer: Sorry, sir. We need to see you for a few more moments.
Abe: Problem. I'll be back in no time.
Tony: You got to stop this -- this fretting. It's gonna turn you completely inside out.
Tony: The mayor's gone, darling. It's not your fault. End of story.
Lexie: But what if it's not end of story?
Tony: What do you mean?
Lexie: What if the mayor isn't the only person the killer has plans to take out?
Nicole: [Exhales deeply]
Nicole: Oh, thank you, Lord.
Chloe: Are you okay?
Nicole: I'm -- I'm so glad to see you. I could really use your company right now.
Chloe: Why? What's going on?
Nicole: Nothing, but potentially everything.
Chloe: Are you and E.J. okay? Did something happen?
Nicole: No, no. He's actually being unbelievably sweet.
Chloe: Then what's the problem?
Nicole: I don't know. I-I just can't help worrying.
Chloe: About what?
Nicole: My hold on him may be tenuous, at best.
Chloe: Sounds to me like you're over-thinking it.
Nicole: Well, I've never been accused of that before.
Chloe: If things are going well, why not just enjoy the ride?
Nicole: Because there's Sami.
Chloe: Uhh. I'm so sick of her, even hearing her name.
Nicole: I'm sick of her, too, Chloe, but I don't think she's going anywhere. I know she's got her hooks in E.J. I'm sure of it.
Chloe: You don't know the half of it.
Nicole: What do you mean?
Chloe: Nicole, there's something you need to know about Sami.
Lucas: This should be good.
E.J.: I came to see how you were doing.
Sami: That's, uh, thoughtful of you. I thought you'd be busy, you know, scheduling Lamaze classes and picking out fabrics for the bassinet.
Sami: I'd like you to go.
E.J.: You witnessed a murder today.
Sami: And I appreciate you bringing up that heartwarming memory.
E.J.: Look, I just thought it might be helpful to talk about it.
Sami: Well, it's no and what would help is for you to leave.
E.J.: Well, I'm sorry. I'm not leaving until you convince me that you are all right.
Melanie: I am willing to buy your silence.
Philip: I don't need your money.
Melanie: I'm not talking about money.
Max: She did not commit that murder.
Bo: And you know this for a fact?
Hope: If Max refuses...
Stephanie: Then I've lost Max for nothing.
E.J.: Get down!
