E.J.: [Sighs] This doctor's taking his time, isn't he?
Nicole: Is there somewhere else you'd rather be, like back at the police station with Sami?
E.J.: No, of course, there isn't, okay? Nicole, obviously I'm concerned about her. She just witnessed a murder.
Nicole: Mm-hmm. And the woman carrying your child just took a damn hard fall over a corpse, no less. Shouldn't you be slightly more concerned about me?
E.J.: I am. Let me go and find a doctor for you.
Lexie: Nobody's seen you yet?
E.J.: No. Nobody has. What are you doing here? I thought you didn't work in the trauma center.
Lexie: No, I-I don't. I was checking on some patients. I heard the two of you were here. Did -- did something happen?
Nicole: Well, you could say that. I tripped over the mayor, and now I could lose my baby.
Lexie: What? Whoa. You tripped over the mayor?
Nicole: You didn't hear? He was murdered outside the DiMera mansion today, and I fell on his body.
Chelsea: I could have sworn I put my wallet back in here this morning. Great. It's not here. I'm sorry. I'm gonna have to go home and get some money.
Daniel: Can I help?
Melanie: Thanks for meeting with me.
Melanie: Oh, I'm not, uh, I'm not taking you away from Stephanie again, am I?
Max: No. She said she had something to do.
Melanie: Okay. Well, I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am.
Max: For what?
Melanie: For putting you in such a difficult position with her and telling you what happened that night in the cemetery.
Max: It wasn't difficult, Melanie, because I know you didn't do it. You couldn't have.
Melanie: Well, I wish I could be as sure.
Max: Mel, if you had -- if you had killed him, you would have remembered that -- blackout or not.
Melanie: Well, thank you for believing in me and trusting me enough to keep my secret. I mean, I know if Stephanie found out, she would have gone straight to the police.
Hope: Honey, what is it? What did you want to tell us about Melanie?
Bo: You said she had done something to Max?
Stephanie: Well, now she's got him involved, right along with her.
Bo: Involved in what?
Stephanie: I shouldn't even be talking to you guys. He'd be so angry if he knew.
Hope: Steph...tell us what's going on.
Stephanie: I think Melanie killed her dad.
Melanie: Well, you've gotten awfully quiet. Why?
Max: Well, uh, there's something you need to know.
Max: I told Stephanie.
Melanie: You what?!
Max: But I had to, okay? I'm sorry, but I had to tell her everything.
Melanie: Okay. Okay. So, let me get this straight. Stephanie knows I was in the cemetery that night?
Max: Yeah. Yes, I told her that you guys fought, you struggled over the knife and all that.
Melanie: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Max: Look, I told her that you got hit in the head and you blacked out. And then when you woke up, he was dead.
Melanie: Wonderful. Well, I'm sure that put her mind at ease.
Max: I told her you didn't do it, though. I know you didn't do it.
Melanie: It doesn't matter what you know, all right? Max, you told someone who hates me, someone who wants nothing more than to see me out of the picture and out of your life.
Max: What? No. She wouldn't do that. That's not --
Melanie: Are you kidding me? S-- okay. She's probably talking to your brother and his wife right now.
Bo: That's a very serious accusation, Stephanie.
Hope: Is it just because you suspect her of planting Trent's wallet in your purse?
Stephanie: I don't just suspect. I know for a fact that she's the one who did it. But that's not the reason why I'm coming to you.
Hope: Do you have proof?
Stephanie: Not proof, exactly.
Bo: Max said you and Melanie had an altercation earlier. Did she admit something to you?
Stephanie: No. All she did was lie to me. But after that, when she and Max were alone, he finally got the truth out of her.
Hope: The truth?
Stephanie: She admitted pretty much everything.
Bo: And then Max told you?
Stephanie: Yes, but first, he swore me to secrecy. Like I said, he'd be so furious if he knew I was talking to you. I just didn't know what else to do or who to turn to.
Hope: I just don't understand. Why would Max keep it a secret?
Stephanie: Because Melanie is his sister and he'd do anything to protect her, including ruin his life by being an accessory to murder.
Lexie: This happened today? Mayor Marino was murdered at the mansion today?
Nicole: Shot on the front doorstep... which is how I came to trip over his body.
Lexie: How did it happen?
E.J.: We don't know. Nobody witnessed it. Samantha saw the murderer leaving, but he was just some unknown assailant.
Stefano: Alexandra, I'm sure that this is gonna resolve itself very shortly. The mayor will [Clears throat] back down eventually.
Lexie: You're gonna make sure that happens.
Lexie: Unknown assailant?
Nicole: Who Sami, due to the fact that she was spying on me and E.J., got a good look at just as he was taking off.
E.J.: Yeah. Unfortunately, he also got a pretty good look at her.
Lexie: Listen, I-I have to go. Excuse me.
Nicole: Lexie! What about me?
Daniel: I'm juggling my way into work. It's great seeing you, Chelsea.
Chelsea: Thank you for the latte. You didn't -- you didn't have to do that.
Daniel: I figured since I was buying for everyone else...
Chelsea: Oh, you volunteered to do the coffee run again, huh?
Daniel: Probably in for a long night, covering for someone in trauma.
Chelsea: Well, I hope it goes fast.
Daniel: You know, I-I still got a few minutes before my shift starts, if you'd, uh, like to have a coffee together.
Chelsea: You know what? It's actually not a good time, 'cause I'm supposed to be meeting somebody.
Daniel: Right. Right. Well, I-I got to get going, anyway, so...
Chelsea: Thanks again for the latte.
Daniel: Yeah. Yeah. Bye.
Chelsea: Hey, Nick.
Nick: Oh, hey, Chelse, what's up? Uh, I'll try a cappuccino.
Chelsea: I wanted to ask you for a favor.
Melanie: Wow. So I guess you're just not into keeping your word.
Max: Come on, Mel.
Melanie: Max, you promised that you wouldn't tell anybody.
Max: I-I never said I wouldn't tell Stephanie.
Melanie: Oh. Okay. So "everyone" don't include her. I really wish I would have known that before I confided in you.
Max: No. Steph and I made a pact, all right? No more secrets. Look, it's not going any further.
Melanie: Oh. Yeah, right. Okay, Max, um, Stephanie hates me. Have you -- have you not noticed that? And what's worse is she's convinced herself that I am guilty, so of course she's gonna go to the cops. She's probably gonna put it on a billboard or maybe write it in the sky.
Max: You couldn't be more wrong about her. I know Stephanie. She's not gonna betray my trust. She's not gonna go to the cops. That's not how she is.
Hope: Start from the beginning and tell us exactly what Max told you.
Stephanie: [Sniffles] Okay. He said that...Melanie met their father at the cemetery the night he was murdered.
Hope: She was there?
Stephanie: Yes. And she confronted him with the knife.
Hope: Oh, God.
Stephanie: Max said that she just wanted to get him to stay away, that she hated him for what he had done to her. But then they got into this huge fight, and there was a struggle over the knife.
Bo: What do you mean, "struggle"?
Stephanie: I'm not sure, but he said that at some point she fell and hit her head and she blacked out. When she came to, Trent was dead.
Bo: So she didn't exactly admit to killing him?
Stephanie: No, but she told Max she thinks she may have, and I believe she did. Guys, I have spent a lot of time with this girl. She is a very troubled person. You know what? That's an understatement. She is -- she's totally screwed up. Part of it is because she's had this awful life. I know that. But the other part of it is because she is just a devious and mean person.
Bo: Still, Stephanie, we're talking about murder here.
Stephanie: I know what we're talking about, Uncle Bo, and I am telling you, this girl has no conscience, no morals. She stole her dad's wallet and planted it in my purse. Doesn't that tell you what she's capable of, what kind of person she is? I am telling you that she did it. She murdered her father. Now you guys need to stop her. You need to question her and arrest her before she hurts somebody else.
Nick: Uh, what's the favor?
Chelsea: Have dinner with me. I mean, as friends, 'cause I could really use one.
Nick: You got, uh, you got lots of friends. I mean, what about Stephanie? She's your best friend.
Chelsea: Yeah, but, you know, she's really busy lately, and, you know, Morgan moved away. Look, if you'd rather not, just tell me.
Nick: No, no, no. Um, that's fine. That's totally fine. We can totally go to dinner.
Chelsea: Okay. Where should we go?
Nick: Uh, wherever. Your pick.
Chelsea: All right. There's this, um, sushi restaurant that just opened up. It's near the hospital. I forwarded the listing to my phone, so I can just call and see if they have a table later.
Melanie: Okay, Max, um, Stephanie hates me. Have you -- have you not noticed that?
Stephanie: That's everything. That's all I know.
Bo: Well, that's a lot.
Stephanie: And I feel terrible for breaking Max's confidence. It's just -- I mean, I had to. If Melanie is found guilty and Max knew all this and didn't come forward --
Hope: Steph...you did the right thing.
Bo: We know how difficult this was for you.
Stephanie: What happens now? What are you guys gonna do?
Bo: We'll have a little chat with Melanie.
Lexie: What did you do?! What the hell did you do?!
Stefano: Alexandra, what on earth --
Lexie: I heard about Marino's murder, Father. I saw the chalk lines and the police outside your door.
Stefano: Ah, yes. An unfortunate incident. And they created quite a mess out there.
Lexie: Well, it's a bit of coincidence, wouldn't you say?
Lexie: Okay, don't play dumb with me, all right? Just this morning, I came to you. I told you how Marino had been publicly attacking Abe and me, our little boy, saying horrible, horrible, destructive things. I said... for you to stop contributing to his dirty re-election campaign. I told you if you cared anything about me and your grandson --
Stefano: And I care very deeply. I was infuriated when you told me what he did, so I did as you asked. I pulled my support.
Lexie: That's not all, is it?
Stefano: What are you implying, Alexandra?
Lexie: You killed him, didn't you? You killed the mayor.
Daniel: Well, I heard there was a hospital emergency.
Nicole: Well, there could be. What took you so long?
Daniel: No, I just got in. Uh, all right, what's going on?
Nicole: Well, I-I had an accident, and I -- we are really concerned about the baby.
Daniel: Okay. Well, what kind of accident?
Nicole: I'll spare you the grisly details, but suffice to say, I had a really nasty fall, and -- and I'm worried about the baby. I want to make sure nothing's happened to him or her.
Daniel: Okay. All right. Any kind of pain, cramps at all?
Nicole: No. I mean, I have this really bad headache, but I guess it's because of the stress.
Daniel: Okay. Well, chances are everything is fine, but let me just check you out. E.J., would you mind just waiting outside for a minute?
E.J.: No, not at all. Of course. You okay?
Nicole: Yeah, just make sure you stay close -- okay? -- Just in case I need you.
E.J.: I will. I promise.
Daniel: So, Nicole, no cramps. Any backaches?
Nicole: Uh, no. None of that.
Daniel: Bumps, bruises, lacerations?
Daniel: Well, have you had any unusual symptoms -- abdominal pain, discomfort, anything?
Nicole: No. No. I haven't had any pain, no cramps. But I-I-I have these little twinges every now and again right -- right here.
Daniel: Right there?
Daniel: It could be baby flutters.
Nicole: Yeah. Maybe. I-I hope that's all it is.
Daniel: Okay. You know what? Is there anything -- anything else?
Nicole: No, but, um -- look, Daniel, I want to remind you that I was told that I could never conceive, so this -- this baby is a miracle. And I know that I'm already pregnant, but I can't help thinking that maybe something's wrong.
Daniel: You can never assume that. You're young and healthy. So, let's just check your blood pressure.
Nicole: Look, I know what you're thinking.
Daniel: Excuse me?
Nicole: That I'm using this accident -- my fall at the DiMera mansion -- as an excuse to -- to make E.J. worry, to get closer to him. And you know what? maybe I am. But I am not lying about these twinges.
Daniel: No, I didn't say you were.
Nicole: Okay, maybe you're right. Maybe they are just baby flutters. I read -- I read about them in the pregnancy books. But... [Exhales deeply] But if there is something wrong, Daniel, you have to help me, okay? I can't -- I can't lose this baby. You have to fix it, okay?
Chelsea: You all right?
Max: Yeah. Sure. Why -- why -- why do you ask?
Chelsea: Well, I was just on my way out, and you look a little...stressed.
Max: Yeah, I am definitely stressed. I've just been thinking about, you know, my Mom and Trent.
Chelsea: My Dad still won't really tell me much about what's going on, but are they any closer to finding out who really killed your father?
Max: Yeah, they have a couple of suspects. A lot of people wanted him dead.
Chelsea: One of them being Melanie?
Max: Yeah, but she didn't do it, all right? I mean, she wouldn't just off her father, you know. I don't care how much of a jerk he was or how much he hurt her, she wouldn't do something like that.
Chelsea: But we all know Grandma Caroline didn't, and she's not gonna be off the hook until they find out who did.
Max: Which they will.
Chelsea: Of course.
Max: Have you seen Stephanie? I-I've been looking for her. I can't get ahold of her.
Chelsea: No, I haven't, actually.
Stephanie: Here I am. Hi, Chelse.
Chelsea: Hey. How are you?
Stephanie: Good. Good. I got your message that you were here.
Max: Yeah. Uh, where have you been?
Max: Well, I've been trying to reach you several times, and it keeps going straight to voicemail, so I kind of figured it was turned off.
Stephanie: I was at the pub talking to Bo and Hope.
Hope: We've been waiting for you.
Melanie: Really? Why?
Bo: We want to talk.
Melanie: Look, if this is about my Father's wallet again --
Hope: It's not about the wallet.
Bo: It's about the night your father was murdered.
Hope: We want you to tell us everything you know about it.
Bo: Up to and including your encounter with him at the cemetery.
Stefano: You shortchange me, Alexandra, as do all my children. I should not be surprised, now, should I?
Lexie: Answer my question, damn it!
Stefano: You didn't ask a question, damn it. You came in here and declared -- you yelled, "oh, you killed the mayor, Father! I mean, how could you?! How dare you!"
Lexie: I don't have time for this. I'm reporting you to the police.
Stefano: You're doing nothing of the sort!
Lexie: You murdered a man!
Stefano: I had absolutely nothing to do with Anthony Marino's death.
Lexie: How do you explain the timing of it? I asked you to do me this favor, and on the very same --
Stefano: And I granted it, which I totally regret right now, because of your insolence and your total lack of gratitude. But what did I expect? [Chuckles] [Sighs] It's your way. That's the way you are, right? Because that's what you expect. "Give me! Give me! Give me!" That is the way you are, all right? You always feel that you are entitled. Well, you're not always entitled, Alexandra.
Lexie: Oh, so you're -- you're lecturing me, lashing out at me, when you've lived a life of crime and cruelty, when you so cavalierly just take a life? My God. My God. Whatever Marino did to me or Abe or to anyone else, he had a family. He had people who cared about him. He didn't deserve to die.
Stefano: And I completely agree. And I repeat -- I had nothing to do with his murder. I only talked to the man, and I informed him about my decision. I was withdrawing all my financial backing for his re-election.
Lexie: And that's it? Nothing more?
Stefano: Yes. That is it. And it was not pleasant, I grant you... but I did it for you. I did it for you, Alexandra! And you come in here and you accuse me! You come in here as if you own the place and tell me what I've done, and you don't know a damn thing about it! When last I spoke to Mayor Marino, he was very much alive.
Lexie: Until he was shot to death on your doorstep.
Stefano: It was on my doorstep. So what? Has it ever occurred to you that I am being set up? Use your brain, Alexandra! If I wanted to kill the man, why the hell would I do it right here, huh? You think I'm that stupid?!
Lexie: I don't know what to think. [Sighs]
Stefano: I'm always the obvious target. Hmm? But let me -- let me remind you of something, hmm? The mayor had many enemies, including your beloved husband.
Lexie: Oh, come on. Surely you're not suggesting that Abe --
Stefano: Of course not. All I am saying is motive alone does not guarantee guilt. I ask you, Alexandra, what reason would I have to kill a lowly, ineffectual mayor, huh? Don't you think that I have better use of my time and energy than to plot a murder of a loser like Marino?
Lexie: You're right. You're right. Y-you do have better things to do than -- with your time and your energy.
Stefano: [Exhales deeply] [Smooches] Don't worry about this, my dear daughter -- hmm? -- Because you're not responsible for what happened -- not in any way.
Lexie: I had to ask.
Stefano: Ask? [Chuckles] You didn't ask. You screamed, you yelled, and you accused.
Lexie: Father, I --
Stefano: No, no, no. Shh! Shh! Shh! Shh! Shh! [Smooches] Okay. Look. [Exhales deeply] You are my child. All is forgiven. You know, you're like me, Alexandra -- full of passion. That's why I love you so much.
Lexie: Yeah, well, I somehow doubt that.
Stefano: Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on. Now, don't get all filled with gloom and doom now, huh? Live your life. Be happy with your life, for goodness' sake. Live in the moment and be grateful for all your blessings.
Lexie: So, you've been hitting the self-help books, huh?
Stefano: No. Come here, come here, come here. You know... [Exhales deeply] [Chuckles] I've been thinking... actually, about my own life. You know, when you're getting closer to the end than to the beginning, well, you become... more appreciative, more aware of the beauty... less willing to squander time on pettiness. Huh. Anyway... can I... ask you to join me for dinner?
Lexie: [Exhales deeply] Thanks, uh, but I have to go now. I have to pick up Theo.
Stefano: Of course. Make sure that you give him a big hug from his grandfather.
Lexie: Okay. Bye.
Chelsea: All right. Well, I'm gonna head out 'cause I got that meeting later with Nick.
Stephanie: Tell him I said hi. You guys have a good time, okay?
Chelsea: Thank you. Uh, call me later.
Stephanie: Weird -- huh? -- Her going out with Nick. I thought she was still stuck on Daniel.
Max: What did you tell them? Hmm? Answer me. What did you tell them? You were with Bo and Hope. What'd you say?
Stephanie: Everything. I told them everything. They know Melanie murdered your father.
Melanie: Look, I already told you everything I know about that night.
Bo: Stephanie told us about your confession to Max.
Hope: We know you fought with your father in the cemetery... that you struggled over a knife that ended up being the murder weapon.
Bo: What you failed to mention when we questioned you earlier. So you can either explain yourself here or we'll take you down to the station. Your choice.
Nicole: So, what's the verdict? Everything peachy?
Daniel: I was going to use exactly those words. Both you and your baby are in excellent health
Nicole: Oh, thank God. Look, I'm sorry I was so panicky and paranoid before, but, like I said, this -- this baby is really important to me.
Daniel: I didn't think you were panicky or paranoid. I think you were careful, and that's a good thing.
Nicole: I know. Maybe I-I was a little intense, since this is probably the only time I... I get to be a Mom, you know, and have a family. And sometimes it just makes me a little hysterical, as much as you've noticed. You're just too nice not to say it.
Daniel: Well, I completely understand your concern. But I want you to promise me that you will just take it easy and keep the stress level down to a minimum.
Nicole: I will do my best. But with E.J.'s ex popping up into our lives, it is not gonna be easy.
Daniel: Don't let Sami get to you. From what I can tell, E.J. seems pretty committed to you and the baby.
Nicole: Yeah. He's really excited about it. He is. And he takes fatherhood very seriously.
Daniel: That's what I hear. I hear he's a great dad to his little boy. So, anyway, um, why don't you get dressed, and I will give the father-to- the good news, okay?
Nicole: You're not gonna say anything to E.J. about what I said? [Exhales deeply] How important this baby is to me. I mean, I know he knows that already. I just don't want him to think that I'm blabbing to everyone, you know? He's a pretty private person.
Daniel: I won't say a word.
E.J.: Doctor, is, uh, is she okay? Is the baby okay?
Daniel: Well, everyone appears to be fine.
E.J.: Oh, good. That's a relief.
Daniel: Well, I am gonna tell you what I told her. She just needs to relax, avoid getting all worked up and excited or upset.
E.J.: Right. This is Nicole we're talking about. It's a pretty tall order.
Daniel: Yeah, well, it's important -- for her more than anything. 'Cause a lot of people -- they think stress and worrying is gonna hurt the baby. But, you know, for the most part, that really isn't true. And usually if there's a problem or the woman has a miscarriage, it's because there's something wrong with the fetus.
Daniel: Okay? And women, you know, they tend to, um, worry about that too much. And the doctors -- they don't seem to stress enough that babies in utero are, um, well, they're pretty resilient. So a simple fall -- not likely to jeopardize the pregnancy.
E.J.: Well, thank you very much, and thank you for your kind words. Very reassuring.
Daniel: Oh, my pleasure.
E.J.: Can I go in now?
Daniel: You can go right in.
E.J.: Thank you.
Max: I don't believe it. I can't believe you went to the police.
Stephanie: To Bo and Hope. To your brother.
Max: The police.
Stephanie: Max, I'm sorry, but I had no choice.
Max: You had no choice?
Stephanie: I could not stand by and watch you destroy your life, living in denial over someone you barely know.
Max: She's my sister. She's my flesh and blood, and I am not living in denial. I know what she is and isn't capable of doing. You had a choice. But you know what? You chose that it was more important to sandbag Melanie.
Stephanie: It's not like that.
Max: It's exactly like that. You betrayed me. You made a promise, and you broke it. How could you do that?
Melanie: I already told you. I have nothing more to say.
Bo: If that's the way you want it, we'll just continue this down at the station.
Melanie: I'm not going anywhere.
Hope: Then you better start talking, Melanie.
Bo: And we want the truth. We want to know everything that happened between you and your father at the cemetery that night.
Melanie: Nothing happened. This is crazy. This is harassment.
Bo: Did you not hear me? We know about your confession to Max -- every word of it.
Melanie: Well, Stephanie's lying. She made it up.
Hope: Why would she do that?
Melanie: Because she hates my guts. She always has. Ever since the minute I met her in Marseille, she's had it in for me. She's just jealous of the relationship I have with Max, and she's trying to frame me.
Hope: Stephanie would never do that.
Melanie: Yeah, well, you just haven't seen that side of her yet.
Bo: What I know is that you're the one who's lying.
Melanie: Look, I never saw my Father the night he was murdered, okay? We never got in an argument, and I never saw or touched the knife that went into his back. And if you don't believe me, you can go ask Max. Go. He'll back up my story, and he will tell you that I didn't tell him any of that. So, really, you have no proof. You only have Stephanie's word against mine. So until there's evidence to the contrary, I would appreciate it if you would let me mourn my Father's death in peace!
E.J.: You get on that couch.
Nicole: Okay. Yes, sir.
E.J.: Feet up.
E.J.: Okay? Take it easy.
Nicole: Okay. Can you take my shoes off?
E.J.: I can take your shoes off.
Nicole: Thank you.
E.J.: Do you need anything? Do you want a pillow? You need a glass of water?
Nicole: No. I'm -- I'm good, actually. Thank you.
E.J.: You sure?
Nicole: All right. Well, an extra pillow would be good. You know, us pregnant girls could use all the lumbar support we can get.
E.J.: I'm sure you can. There we go. Lean back.
Nicole: Thank you.
E.J.: How's that? Is that better?
Nicole: It's perfect.
Nicole: You really are taking wonderful care of me.
E.J.: Yeah. Speaking of that, the next time you feel a little bit neglected, just say something.
Nicole: Okay. What do you mean?
E.J.: Look, I know you took a spill, but it wasn't quite as serious as you made it out to be. You only played up your symptoms to get me away from Samantha.
Nicole: How could you accuse me of that? I tripped over a dead man, and I was physically and emotionally traumatized and genuinely concerned about our baby.
E.J.: I know you were. So was I. But can you honestly tell me you didn't over-dramatize just a little bit?
Nicole: Well, if I did, it was just because I wanted you to stop worrying about Sami and focus on me.
E.J.: Nicole, you don't need to use our child to get my attention. You have my attention. All right. Look. I was worried about Samantha. She's the only person alive who can identify a killer -- somebody who tried to kill her. But my concern for her ends there. I know that she's the mother of my child, but you also are the mother of my child. And unlike Samantha, I believe that you and I really have a future together.
Nicole: Future? Do you mean...
E.J.: Nicole, you're carrying my baby. That means the world to me. You mean the world to me.
Nick: Melanie. Hey. I got your message. Is everything okay?
Melanie: Oh, it's a -- it's been a rough day. I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't have called you. It's just seeing as how you're my only friend in Salem --
Nick: No, I'm glad you called me. I saw you at the Java Café© earlier. You looked upset. I was worried.
Melanie: You're sweet. Uh, look, do you think maybe we could get out of here and get a bite to eat or something?
Nick: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I, uh, I'm -- I'm all yours. I mean, you know?
Melanie: That's okay. I know what you mean. Thank you.
Nick: What are friends for?
Melanie: I just -- I'm gonna go run to my room and change really fast. I'll only be a second.
Nick: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Take your time. I'll call aunt Maggie. I'll see if we can get a table at Chez Rouge.
Melanie: Oh, I-I don't want you to go to any trouble.
Nick: It's no trouble.
Melanie: Okay. Chez Rouge it is, then.
Chelsea: Hey, what are you doing here?
Nick: Hey, Chelse. I, uh, I'm just -- I'm making a -- a phone call.
Chelsea: Oh. Well, I'm heading home to get ready for our fabulous evening. I'm very excited.
Nick: You know what? Um, I'm really sorry. I-I need to cancel.
Nick: It's -- it's nothing to do with you. It's just, um, something -- something came up.
Chelsea: Would that something be Melanie?
Nick: Look, maybe we can, uh, we can get together another time and -- and talk.
Chelsea: Yeah. Another time.
Max: Answer me. How could you do that to me, Stephanie?
Stephanie: I know right now you feel like I betrayed you.
Max: Yeah, well, you did betray me, okay? Whatever happened to trusting each other? Isn't that what we both agreed on doing?
Stephanie: Yes, which is why I need you to trust me right now that I did the right thing by going to Bo and Hope. I was trying to protect you.
Max: Protect me?
Stephanie: I love you too much to let Melanie hurt you and make you an accessory to murder.
Max: She didn't murder anyone.
Stephanie: You don't --
Max: No. You can go on telling yourself that you broke your promise because you were trying to "protect" me, but we both know what's going on here. You hated Melanie ever since the first day you met her.
Stephanie: Of course, because I never trusted her.
Max: Yeah, well, now I can't trust you, all right? And without that, that's a deal breaker, okay? without that, we don't have anything.
Nick: Yeah, Aunt Maggie. Table for two tonight. Something, you know, quiet and, uh, out of the way. Uh, no. It's -- it's not with Chelsea. I'll be with Max's sister Melanie. Yeah.
Stefano: It's about time you answered the phone. You fool. What the hell have you done?
Nicole: I'm not dreaming, am I? You mean it? You're not gonna take it back?
E.J.: No. Nicole, I-I want the same things that you want, you know? I want a house. I want a white picket fence, a yard. I want some kids. I want to have a real family. I want to have that with you.
Nicole: [Giggles] Do you have any idea how happy you've just made me?
E.J.: Tell me. Tell me how happy.
Nicole: I am so -- I am so happy. I'm so happy I could eat a gallon of rocky road ice cream right now.
E.J.: Now? Before dinner? Really?
Nicole: Yes, and please bring two spoons, because I'm even willing to share.
E.J.: You...stay...right there. I'll be right back.
Nicole: Okay. I will. I'll be right here. Go. I'm hungry.
E.J.: I'm going.
Nicole: Ow. [Groaning]
Hope: Okay, so, what do you make of all this? Do you think Melanie killed her father?
Bo: She is lying about something. It's up to us to figure out what.
Melanie: Hey, Nick.
Stephanie: So, what are you saying?
Max: I love you and I probably always will, but I can't forgive you.
Stephanie: Please don't do this.
Max: No. You betrayed me. You made a promise and then you broke it. You did it behind my back, and I can never forgive you for that.
Stephanie: I did it for you. Max, I love you so much. We can get through this. We can get through anything, just like we always have.
Max: No. There's no more "we." I'm sorry. Look, I love you... more than you'll ever know.
John: Listen to me, brother. I know about the hit put on Anthony Marino, and I know that you're behind it.
Tony: You needed to speak to me urgently, so what the hell's going on?
Lexie: It's not just that Marino was killed. It's my part in it.
Man: I give my word, I keep it. By the end of the night, Samantha Brady will be dead.
