Hope: Wow. This is completely unexpected. I never would have thought that you would --
Mayor Marino: That I would appoint a woman as police commissioner.
Hope: I suppose that's part of it, yes. And it's a first, I know, and long overdue. But I have to say, many of my female colleagues are just as qualified for this position as I am.
Mayor Marino: But...
Hope: I'm gonna have to think about it. I need to discuss it with my husband and my family.
Mayor Marino: I understand. But I will need an answer by the end of the day.
Hope: You'll have it.
Mayor Marino: I'm sure you'll make the right decision.
Bo: Well, hey, hey, hey.
Roman: There she is. There she is. Historical day for Salem.
Bo: Oh, yeah. I-I am proud of you. Fancy Face, you deserve this.
Hope: I'm not so sure.
Bo: I know you didn't expect it and you weren't looking for this job, but you're exactly what this city needs, especially right now.
Hope: No, you're giving me way too much credit.
Bo: Oh, come on. I know what you're capable of. I know how dedicated you are to the department and the city. And, yeah, Abe is a hard act to follow. But if anybody's gonna do it, it's you.
Hope: This is just way too much to comprehend.
Bo: Fancy Face... you're gonna turn the job down, aren't you?
Roman: Hope, listen to me. I know this is your decision. And the last thing I want to do is put any pressure on you.
Hope: Okay, Roman. Just say it. Whatever it is, just give it to me.
Roman: Hey, it's not just me, okay? Pretty much, everybody's thinking the same thing. If you turn this position down and the mayor appoints one of his lackeys, it'll be a hell of a lot harder to get DiMera.
Stefano: Ahh. The pawn... was made for sacrifice.
Dr. Rolf: Stefano, effects just arrived from one of your international attorneys.
Stefano: He has the temerity to think that a mere pawn can take a king.
Dr. Rolf: I beg your pardon?
Stefano: John Black. He is a fool. He is drunk with power.
Dr. Rolf: Yeah, but not for long. As I told you --
Stefano: Yes, I know. You already told me that.
Dr. Rolf: No, no, no. I was about to say --
Stefano: Look, please, Rolf, don't keep repeating yourself because you -- you just take too much of my precious time.
Dr. Rolf: No, no, Stefano. All I wanted to do was reiterate that John's brain is like a time bomb.
Stefano: I don't like it.
Dr. Rolf: What, you don't want him dead?
Stefano: Death is too easy. Mnh-mnh. We have to see him suffer.
Dr. Rolf: Ah. What exactly did you have in mind?
Stefano: Isn't it obvious?
Nicole: Ugh. There's nothing worse than the smell of fish and garbage when you're already feeling nauseous. I spoke too soon.
Trent: I don't have time for your insults. I'm looking for my daughter.
Nicole: I doubt she wants anything to do with you and with good reason.
Trent: It's none of your business.
Nicole: No, it is my business. You owe me, Trent.
Trent: [Scoffs] What for?
Nicole: You know Victor found out we're still married.
Trent: Oh, yeah. You lost your settlement. My heart bleeds.
Nicole: You owe me $10 million plus interest, and I don't take checks.
John: I had to ask the barkeep if you were even here.
Anna: Well, I had to powder my nose. Look, John, we have to have a talk. Hello.
John: Oh, hello. You called me, said it was urgent.
Anna: Uh, yes, I did. And it is. John, I need you to focus. Can you do that for me? I mean, look at me! Hey. I just saw Marlena, and she's planning to leave you for good. Did you even hear me? Marlena is going to divorce you.
Kayla: Hey, Marlena.
Marlena: Hi. Did you want me for something?
Kayla: No, I just -- are you all right?
Marlena: I'm, uh... I'm fine. I'm fine. How's that sweet little baby of yours?
Kayla: Oh, he is great. If only he'd sleep through the night, you know what I mean?
Marlena: Yeah, well, they get to that at some point. Don't they?
Kayla: Are you sure something's not bothering you? You know, if you want to talk about it, I'd love to help.
Marlena: Yeah. John seems to be, um, spiraling out of control... and I can't do a thing to help him.
Anna: Did you hear me, John? It's lawyers-drawing-up-papers time, honey, and she seems pretty determined to go through with it.
John: Yes, I've known for quite some time that Blondie's wanted a divorce.
Anna: Well, then get to work. Do something about it. You twiddle your thumbs on this, and she's gonna be gone.
John: I got it. Thanks.
Anna: I mean it, John. You've got to do something and quick bec-- if you don't, you're going to lose the love of your life.
John: What the hell's the matter with you?
Anna: I know it's not easy to admit you were wrong and that you still love her. But if you don't suck it up and do that, she's gonna go through with the divorce. [Echoing] Hey! Are you even listening to me? [Normal voice] John? Oh, my God. John? John?
Kayla: Marlena, talk to me.
Marlena: Well, not now. No, not -- I meant later on because I've got things to do, and I'm sure you do, too, so we'll do that later on, maybe.
Kayla: You know, wait. You know, I'm actually on a break. And you're my friend. If -- if you need help, I-I-I'd like to give it to you.
Marlena: I think about John obsessively... every minute of every day. And I worry about him. And I wonder what I could have done differently to...
Kayla: Oh, stop. You cannot blame yourself. You have been beyond loyal. You have given your heart and soul to that man.
Marlena: Well, that's -- that's over now, and I, uh, [Sniffles] I can't do anything anymore, can I?
Kayla: You said that you thought that he was spiraling out of control. What do you mean?
Marlena: Well, it's indicated by his most recent behavior.
Kayla: What do you mean?
Marlena: He -- he attacked Trent Robbins in public.
Kayla: I heard about that.
Marlena: And then he got this terrible, terrible headache, and it seemed like he lost focus and then snapped out of it.
Kayla: Do you think that has something to do with his memory loss?
Marlena: Oh, I think that Stefano -- it doesn't matter. It's a moot point. You see, as it turns out, the more I try to help John, the more defiant he becomes. So, why, I'm just wasting my time, and I'm wasting his time. So, I-I'm quitting. I'm -- I'm quitting him.
Kayla: Looks like you know what you have to do.
Marlena: Yeah, I do. I, uh -- I do. Oh, thank you. I have to get back to work, like you do, too. Thanks.
Daniel: That patient needed hydration before chemo. It is critical. It is always critical. Now, how in the hell you don't know that is beyond me.
Nurse: [Crying] I thought Nurse Samuels had taken care of it.
Daniel: Oh, you thought! You thought. I see. But you didn't actually go check, now, did you? Too worried about how long your shift is, maybe wondering when you could go home? You don't think my patient would like to be home right now?
Nurse: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
Daniel: Not right now. A thousand things to do and only a few minutes to get them done.
Kayla: Whoa. No, wait. You are not going anywhere until you settle down.
Daniel: Oh, settle down. Right. Right. I mean, why should I get upset that the nurses aren't doing their job?
Kayla: I'm not suggesting that you don't care. I'm just telling you not to yell at her.
Daniel: Shh. Okay. Okay. Yeah, let's just worry about decorum and appearances. I mean, that's a lot better than saving lives, don't you think, doctor?
Kayla: This is really not like you.
Daniel: Well, I'm not sure you know me all that well, Dr. Johnson.
Kayla: You know, I know that I am the one that called you to come down here and help us out.
Daniel: And that's what I am trying to do. If you'll excuse me now.
Nicole: You owe me, damn it.
Trent: How do you figure that?
Nicole: Bo Brady and his nosy wife did some digging and found out you were married to Misty Circle.
Trent: They were investigating me?
Nicole: That's not the point. They connected you to me and found out we've never been divorced.
Trent: That's not my problem. You had plenty of time to file for divorce. You just never did. You have no one to blame but yourself for all this. [Laughs]
Anna: John, are you okay? John. John.
John: I'm fine. Why?
Anna: Why? Because we were in the middle of a conversation and you just tuned me out like I wasn't --
John: Anna, if I said I'm all right, I'm all right.
Anna: Okay. Well, then, what -- tell me what you're gonna do. What are you gonna do about Marlena wanting to divorce you?
John: Well, I'll just urge her to reconsider.
Anna: That's it?
John: Well, what else can I do?
Anna: John... you and Marlena belong together. And you want to know why? Because you make each other better. You're stronger together, and Marlena brings out the best in you. [Echoing] And pardon me all over the place for being presumptuous or pushy, but I'd like to see you better, at least better than you are lately. John? Hey. What's wrong? John! [Normal voice] John. Hey, are you okay-- John! Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Somebody, help me! Call 911!
Trent: What, have you lost your mind?
Stephanie: Max, put it down!
Max: You're a dead man.
Trent: Something you ate? [Sirens wailing in distance]
Nicole: What's with the sirens?
Trent: They just hauled John Black off in an ambulance.
Nicole: Did you ask why?
Trent: No. And I don't care. He seemed all right. He's conscious. Just a little pale and out of it. Maybe he finally short-circuited.
Nicole: Maybe Caroline's chowder really was made with bad clams.
Trent: Are we done here?
Nicole: Hardly. You cost me a lifetime worth of money.
Trent: You know, Nicky, you still look as good as you did when I first married you. If you're really hard up for cash, maybe "Locker Room Lolita" can make a comeback.
Daniel: It's good to see you.
Chelsea: Yeah, I'm glad that I ran into you. Um, I wanted to check on my grandmother 'cause my grandfather said that she was sick, so I thought I'd come and see her before my shift. And then I thought I'd ask you.
Daniel: Chelsea, please, I --
Chelsea: You can't tell me anything.
Daniel: You know I can't.
Hope: Don't do this to me.
Roman: Hope, all I'm saying --
Hope: I know exactly what you're saying, Roman. How did it become my obligation to accept a job that I never asked for or wanted?
Bo: You're not obligated to do anything. If you don't want this job, you don't have to take it.
Hope: That's the thing. I-I don't know what I want.
Roman: Hope, I understand that us saying we need you puts a lot of pressure on you, and that is not my intent.
Bo: But... you're perfect for this job, Fancy Face. You're patient and thorough. You're a great boss. You're tough as hell but compassionate and kind-hearted at the same time.
Hope: Like I said before, you're giving me way too much credit.
Bo: No, I don't think so.
Hope: I should be thinking of the greater good like the two of you, but you know what? I'm not. You know what I'm thinking about? How this is gonna change my life, our life.
Bo: And I've thought of that, too. Fancy Face, I can spend more time with Ciara 'cause you have longer hours, and I'll hate it, but I'll sacrifice time with you if it means that --
Hope: If it means keeping DiMera from placing one of his minions in this seat.
Roman: Hope, you can finesse the system. You can keep the mayor and his cronies at bay.
Hope: It does make sense.
Hope: It's never gonna work.
Kayla: How is he doing?
John: I'm right here. Why don't you ask me?
Nurse: Apparently, Mr. Black suffered a fairly severe seizure, non-epileptic.
Kayla: Okay. Any fever, chills, headache?
Nurse: According to the patient, he --
John: Why are you talking like I'm not even here?
Kayla: Take it easy, John. I'm just trying to get the facts.
John: The facts are I'm fine. It was nothing. I'm fully recovered. Can't you tell?
Kayla: No, actually, I can't, not until I do some tests, a brain scan.
John: Forget about it.
Kayla: You know, John, if we don't figure out what's wrong with you, you could have another seizure, which could lead to a stroke. Are you willing to risk that? Mm. Yeah. Would you call Marlena and let her know that we're here? She'll want to come down.
Anna: Yeah. I'll do that right now.
Kayla: Okay. I'm gonna listen to your heart.
Anna: Marlena, it's Anna. I'm here in the hospital, and, um, it's John. We need you to come down to the trauma center right away.
Daniel: John's conscious, not injured. Kayla's with him.
Chelsea: I don't -- I don't get it. You can tell me about John but not Kate?
Daniel: Well, first of all, John's not my patient. And I hardly gave you a diagnosis. I'm really sorry, Chelsea. I just can't say anything about Kate.
Chelsea: Right, 'cause of the patient-doctor confidentiality thing. Remind me again why you couldn't tell me that you two slept together? That's right. You didn't have a reason.
Daniel: Actually, I did. I didn't want to hurt you.
Chelsea: See, you kind of hurt me by actually having the sex with her. What you didn't want was for me to find out 'cause then I would leave you. And even though I never really meant anything to you anyway, it was better than being alone. 'Cause a man has needs, after all, right?
Daniel: That's not it at all.
Chelsea: You know what? I'll just check up with my grandmother after my -- after my shift. Thank you for your help.
Daniel: Chelsea, wait. Don't go.
Bo: Got you some tea.
Bo: We need to talk.
Hope: We already have.
Bo: Hope, I got to know why you don't think this will work.
Hope: I explained it. I just don't want the job.
Bo: You're perfect for the job, Fancy Face. You have the potential to turn things around for Salem.
Hope: Enough with the pep talk, okay? Oh, and, by the way... I never said I couldn't do the job. In fact, I agree with you. I would be a terrific commissioner if I gave it my all.
Bo: There you go.
Hope: But the point is, I just don't want to do it.
Bo: Even if it means stopping DiMera.
Dr. Rolf: Look, Stefano, please, stop me if I'm being intrusive, but if you have some plan involving John Black that I've not yet been made aware of, then please tell me.
Stefano: [Sighs] I'm going to level with you, Rolf.
Dr. Rolf: By all means.
Stefano: Ah. For the first time in a long time, the end game that I have been planning has nothing to do with John Black. My half brother is merely a pawn.
Dr. Rolf: One of these little fellows, yes?
Stefano: Exactly. See, the plan that I am devising... [Sighs] ...Will destroy the woman that he once loved, Dr. Marlena Evans... once and for all.
Anna: Oh, thank goodness.
Marlena: How is he?
Anna: I don't know yet. I mean, we were at the Brady Pub.
Marlena: Just tell me what happened.
Anna: He had some sort of seizure. He just toppled over and -- and went into convulsions.
Marlena: Oh, dear God.
Anna: But he's conscious. He's not happy, but he's awake.
Marlena: Where is he?
Anna: Kayla took him down to radiology to run a brain scan.
Marlena: Do they have any idea what's wrong with him?
Anna: Not that I know of.
Marlena: Okay, thanks.
Kayla: Hey. Okay. [Sighs] What's going on with you, John? Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Hope: You're trying to guilt me into this. Your brother just tried it, and it didn't work.
Bo: So that's it. You're not taking the job.
Hope: I had a conversation with Lexie earlier. And she told me that the main reason she quit her chief of staff position at the hospital was because it was taking a toll on her family -- the long hours, the stress.
Bo: Their situation is different than ours. Theo's got special needs. Ciara doesn't.
Hope: Okay, so it's not just about Ciara. It's about me.
Bo: Okay. I understand. You'd miss your little girl.
Hope: I hate being away from her. I mean, this job is hard enough as it is.
Bo: Okay. Your priority is being a mom. That's okay. I love you for that.
Hope: But you want me to do this, don't you?
Bo: Not if you're conflicted about it. It's got to be your decision. It's got to come from you.
Hope: If I did decide to take this job, I'd be your boss.
Bo: That thought did occur to me.
Hope: Would you be okay with it?
Bo: Would I be okay? Yeah, I think so. I mean, the thought actually kind of turns me on.
Marlena: Yes. How do you feel?
John: Oh, I'm fine. A little tired.
Marlena: You had a seizure.
John: So they tell me. I don't remember much.
Marlena: What do you remember?
John: Just Anna talking. Her voice kept getting louder and louder until she just made no sense at all. But that probably had nothing to do with the seizure.
Marlena: I'm very glad you weren't alone. I'm glad they brought you right here to the hospital.
John: Well, I'm glad that you're here, too, perhaps as a sign that you don't despise me after all.
Marlena: John, I could never despise you.
John: But you still want me out of your life, right?
Marlena: You know what? I have a patient I have to, um -- I'll come back later.
John: I hope so.
Kayla: How is this possible?
Nicole: I know stuff about you, too, Trent. I'm not afraid to use it 'cause I've got nothing to lose.
Trent: Nobody's gonna believe a drunk, washed-up adulteress porn star. You sure you don't want to consider restarting your career? I mean, we could go back to my hotel and see if you're still worth the 5-buck rental fee.
Nicole: You're a pig.
Trent: Oh, you know, I may be a pig, but I bet I could still make you squeal.
Max: Let go of her, you son of a bitch.
Chelsea: I have to get to work.
Daniel: Chelsea. Chelsea.
Daniel: I'm sorry, more sorry than you'll ever know.
Chelsea: Is that all? Can I go?
Daniel: And I hope you don't keep blaming Kate. It was my mistake.
Chelsea: You're wanting to take the fall for her. That's so noble of you. That must be because you feel sorry for her because she's sick, right? I guess I should, too.
Daniel: I'm not gonna tell you how to feel.
Chelsea: What a break.
Daniel: She never meant to hurt you.
Chelsea: I'll see you around, Daniel.
Hope: It would turn you on, huh, the idea of me bossing you around?
Bo: [Chuckles] Nothing new there.
Hope: I'm sorry for giving you such a hard time about all of this.
Bo: It's all right.
Hope: I mean, obviously I'm conflicted. Instead of feeling completely honored this position has been offered to me, I... maybe it's Zack.
Bo: How so?
Hope: Losing him has made me cherish my time with Ciara so much -- too much.
Bo: How could it be too much?
Hope: It's hard to explain. Sometimes it just catches up with me, this feeling. All I have to do is think about Ciara and I almost become desperate to hold her in my arms.
Bo: This is something I understand.
Hope: But I also know -- when I'm thinking clearly -- that she would be perfectly fine if I did take this position. In fact, she may even be proud of her old mother here.
Bo: She'd be proud of you no matter what you did, same as me. I'll stop bugging you about this if you promise me one thing.
Hope: Mm. What?
Bo: That you not turn this job down because of the boss/employer thing. My ego will be, uh, fine.
Hope: You sure about that?
Bo: No, I'm not. But, anyway, Roman would still be my boss.
Hope: That's true.
Bo: What is it? You want me to stop kidding you about this?
Hope: It's not that.
Bo: What then?
Hope: I can't just take this job to go after Stefano DiMera. You do realize that, don't you?
Kayla: Uh, great. Thanks for getting back to me. Okay.
Marlena: Kayla, what's going on?
Kayla: Hi. Um, I knew you'd want to see this right away. This is John's x-ray. You're familiar with what a normal cranial x-ray looks like, aren't you?
Marlena: I am. But this -- this --
Kayla: It's unlike anything I've ever seen.
Marlena: Well, maybe there's a problem with the x-ray machine itself that cau--
Kayla: This is my third set that I've developed.
Marlena: I don't know how to interpret this.
Kayla: Well, this is the mid brain region right here. It looks like it's completely clouded over.
Marlena: I've never seen anything like this, either.
Kayla: Yeah. I'm gonna run some more tests.
Marlena: Sure. Good, okay. You know how to find me if you want me.
Bo: Right. I know your sole purpose wouldn't be to nab DiMera.
Hope: It couldn't be. We're not vigilantes.
Bo: But it wouldn't hurt to have someone who's been victimized by him in the commissioner's seat.
Roman: Mayor Marino's on the phone. He needs your answer, Hope.
Nicole: It's okay, Max. Relax.
Max: No, it's not okay. What the hell did you do to her?
Trent: We were just talking.
Max: Go, before I call the cops.
Trent: Well, I suppose that's better than threatening to kill me again.
Max: You know, Trent, if you're as smart as you think you are, you'd leave Salem.
Trent: But my daughter's here.
Max: Don't you dare lay a finger on Melanie. Don't go near her.
Trent: Or what?
Max: I'll make good on that threat.
Trent: To kill me? Ooh, Maxie. I'm shaking in my boots.
Anna: John, what are you doing?
John: What the hell does it look like? I'm getting out of here.
Kayla: John, where are you going?
Kayla: Uh, you can't leave. I need to run some more tests.
John: I'm fine. I had a little episode. It's not as if I'm dying. Or am I?
Marlena: There you are. I'm so glad to find you in.
Stefano: Marlena. What a pleasant surprise. What brings you by?
Marlena: Cut the crap.
Stefano: [Laughs] That's so ladylike. But I gather you're stressed, as they say. Come on, let me make you a drink.
Marlena: Don't you dare try to play games with me.
Stefano: All I'm offering you is a cognac. Maybe you would like to play chess.
Marlena: Where's the disk?
Stefano: The disk?
Marlena: You know which disk I mean, the one containing John's memories.
Stefano: Huh. Memories on a disk. That sounds like science fiction to me.
Marlena: You listen to me, you sociopathic bastard. I know you have the disk. You taunted me with it while I was in the hospital.
Stefano: Perhaps you were hallucinating.
Marlena: John is in trouble.
Stefano: Yes, I know. I was with him recently, and he was complaining about these pounding headaches.
Marlena: He's in the hospital now. He's had a seizure. They took x-rays.
Stefano: And what did they find?
Marlena: Oh, please. He needs help.
Stefano: [Chuckles] Don't we all.
Marlena: Stefano, you need to help him. How can you do this? How can you? I mean, he's your brother, your own flesh and blood.
Stefano: Half brother. Unfortunate mistake.
Marlena: I don't know how you do it. I don't know how you avoid the guilt and the self-loathing. I don't know how you live with yourself from day to day, knowing that all you have ever accomplished in your life is to inflict pain and suffering.
Stefano: Hmm. You and I are not very different from each other, you know. How about the paralytic pain that you have just put me through?
Marlena: I want John's memory restored.
Stefano: Oh. That's a good idea. Yeah, why didn't I think of that?
Marlena: You listen to me. I'm afraid if we don't restore his memory, he will die.
Daniel: That's the file?
Nurse: It's from Dr. Faulk.
Nurse: He asked that you read Ms. Roberts' X-ray. There's a note attached.
Daniel: Thank you.
Nurse: No problem.
Daniel: And about earlier. I shouldn't have yelled at you. It was unprofessional. And I, um, I was out of line.
Nurse: No need to apologize, Dr. Jonas. I'm the one who made a mistake.
Daniel: We all do. Hopefully we'll learn from them. Mm. Uh, Kate, it's Daniel. I know you're not anxious to deal with this, but we can't -- we can't put this off. I'd like you to come in today. We need to decide our next step. I'll be waiting.
Roman: What's going on?
Bo: I support my wife in whatever decision she makes.
Hope: I'm afraid the answer is "no," mayor. So am I. Yes, I am sure. But I do want to thank you for the opportunity. Of course I will. You, too. [Telephone beeps] He took that awfully well.
Bo: Yeah, probably happy as hell he could put his own man or Stefano's in on the job.
Hope: You're disappointed in me, aren't you?
Bo: Are you kidding me? I love you. And I respect you and your decisions.
Hope: I pray I did the right thing.
Nicole: That bastard doesn't deserve to live. [Groans]
Trent: I don't think you can kill me, Max.
Max: Really? And why is that?
Trent: I don't think you have it in you. Now, your sister -- she's another story. I really think she could do anything if she got angry enough.
Max: Don't push me, Trent. I mean it.
Trent: You know, Max, maybe I've been wrong about you. After all, you do have my genes. And maybe all this anger is just proof that you can go to church and drink green beer for the rest of your life, but you're never really gonna be a Brady because deep down inside you're just like your dear old dad.
Marlena: Stefano, please. You're the only one who can help John now.
Stefano: Why would I want to do that, hmm? Even if I had this disk that you keep alluding to.
Marlena: [Sighs] Wait!
Stefano: Dr. Evans, don't you have patients to see?
Marlena: Stefano, you're a father. You're a grandfather. I've seen you with your grandchildren. You have enormous compassion.
Stefano: Mm-hmm. When it comes to my heirs [Chuckles] my compassion knows no bounds.
Marlena: Well, then think about John. He's a father, too. Think about his legacy. He is your flesh and blood.
Stefano: All right, stop it. Save your breath. John's fate was sealed years ago, Marlena. And there's nothing either one of us can do about it. [Door slams]
John: Well, that's reassuring. I ask you if I'm dying, and you don't even answer me.
Kayla: That's because I'm not sure.
John: Oh. Well, now I feel much better.
Kayla: There is something going on with you, John. We just need to figure out what it is.
John: Can you make an educated guess?
Kayla: In this case, no. I-I cannot, not until we run more tests.
John: Run more tests, right. Well, I'm sorry, doctor. I'm afraid that's not an option. I appreciate your concern. But as I told Anna here, I'm feeling very good.
Anna: But you're not very good. You need medical attention.
John: Yes. I can be there in 10 minutes' time. Is the paperwork all drawn up? Excellent.
Anna: Talk about your own worst enemy.
Kayla: Poor Marlena. She's already suffered enough.
Anna: What, I-- the initial test results weren't positive?
Kayla: He could be heading for disaster.
Dr. Rolf: I wanted you to know. I was able to access University Hospital's server.
Dr. Rolf: Well, it appears John Black just had some x-rays taken.
Stefano: Oh, yes. Marlena already informed me of that. Get to the point, Rolf.
Dr. Rolf: Well, it confirms what we already know. John Black's brain is a ticking time bomb, ready to explode. We just have to get to him just before he flames out, for it will be at that precise moment he will be ready to be reprogrammed as your pawn.
Stefano: Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.
Dr. Rolf: Excuse me?
Stefano: I don't think we need him for that anymore.
Dr. Rolf: I don't follow.
Stefano: Hmm. I will take great satisfaction from what John's unraveling will do to Marlena. But as far as the man himself is concerned, I think you can retire this outdated model and find someone new to play with. Hmm?
