Stephanie: You can't be serious, Max.
Max: Does it look like I'm joking?
Stephanie: You're not gonna kill your dad.
Chelsea: He doesn't mean it.
Max: I sure as hell do. After what Trent did to her, that's unforgivable.
Chelsea: What did he do to her?
Max: He used her in the worst possible way.
Stephanie: Tell us.
Max: You know that friend of his, the one that was involved in Nick's shooting? Anyway, he sort of has a thing for Melanie. He has ever since she was a kid.
Max: Yeah, exactly. Anyway, Trent knew about that and thought that Melanie could do a little trade-off.
Stephanie: You can't be serious.
Max: Oh, yeah. Trent wouldn't have to pay off his gambling debts as long as she did everything that he wanted.
Chelsea: That's disgusting.
Stephanie: He pimped out his own daughter.
Max: Now maybe you understand why he deserves to die.
Morgan: Mm. Wow.
Philip: That was nice. What, you don't think lipstick looks good on me?
Morgan: It's not your color.
Philip: If you want, we can try again.
Morgan: You'd like that, wouldn't you?
Philip: Hell, yeah, I would. Talk about a kiss-off.
Pete: Here you go.
Nicole: Ooh! Thanks, handsome. [Door closes]
Morgan: I'm not a big fan of PDA's.
Philip: If you want, we can go somewhere more private.
Morgan: "If you want, we can go somewhere more private." Has that ever worked on a girl?
Philip: Sure it has. No. No, never.
Morgan: That's not the worst one I ever heard.
Philip: What would that be?
Morgan: Let's see. I was at the Cheatin' Heart with some sorority sisters, and this guy walks over all swag and suave and says, "do your legs hurt because they have been running --
Philip: Running through my mind all night long. Yeah. Ugh.
Morgan: What is that, like, the universal pick-up line?
Philip: Does it even work?
Morgan: Oh, God. I hope not.
Pete: Hey, guys. What can I get you?
Morgan: Diet soda, please.
Philip: Cup of coffee. So... do you like the idea of this, of us?
Morgan: Yeah, actually. I'd like to give it another shot.
Morgan: Providing you don't push, there's no assumptions, you don't lie, and you don't keep secrets.
Philip: I didn't ask you to marry me.
Morgan: I'm serious, Philip. If we're gonna do this again, I want to do it right, everything just up front and honest.
Philip: Okay. I promise.
Morgan: Okay. All right, I'm hungry. [Sighs] What?
Philip: Up front and honest, right?
Philip: Okay, then. What would you say if -- if I asked you to go away for a few days?
Morgan: You and me?
Philip: Yeah. Yeah, we could take the jet, go to New York, San Francisco, Chicago, if you want to stay close. Titan has an apartment on Michigan Avenue.
Morgan: Wow, that's really sweet, Philip. It's just...
Morgan: It's just moving kind of fast. You know, that was one of -- "don't push."
Philip: Oh, no, I'm not. I mean, at least not in the way you think. I just thought it would be nice for us to get away and work on us, no distractions.
Morgan: It sounds nice. It's just I got a lot going on, you know, with school and my sorority and starting a new internship. Did I tell you about that?
Morgan: Oh, wow. Okay. Um, I am going to be working for Hearth and Home. I'll be interning for your mother.
Kate: Excuse me?
John: Ah, Blondie. Thanks for stopping by.
Marlena: You said I had left something here?
John: Yes. Come in. I'll get it.
Marlena: Oh, no. I'll just -- I'll wait here.
John: Stefano's holed up in his bedroom, if that's what you're worried about. Please. New outfit.
Marlena: Uh, blou-- blouse.
John: Looks nice on you.
Marlena: Yeah. What did I forget? I thought I had checked over things pretty carefully.
John: I found this in the bathroom.
Marlena: Did you call me all the way over here to pick up a hair tie? Or was there some other reason you had?
John: I don't think it's a good idea that you see Trent Robbins.
Kate: So, you're my new intern.
Philip: Hey, that's great. Congratulations.
Kate: Why wasn't I told about that?
Morgan: I interviewed with your assistant, Chris. He okayed it with you over the phone.
Kate: Oh, yes. Chris. I do remember that.
Morgan: Ms. Roberts, if you don't think this is going to work --
Philip: No, of course it is. Right, Mom?
Morgan: I have a lot of experience.
Kate: I'm sure you do.
Morgan: Okay, maybe I should go interview with someone else.
Philip: Give us a minute. This is exactly what we talked about. You got to stop interfering in my life.
Kate: Oh, Morgan's in your life now? I thought that she never wanted to see you again.
Philip: I told you. We're trying to work through things.
Kate: Oh. Well, then, maybe you should have Morgan intern for you at Titan.
Philip: Give her a break. She's smart, she's a hard worker, and that's all that really matters, right?
Kate: Oh, my God. Okay, I'm doing this for you.
Philip: [Sighs] [Clears throat]
Kate: [Sighs] So, uh, can you start Monday?
Philip: Actually, can she start the following Monday?
Philip: Morgan and I were thinking about going away for a few days.
Morgan: Actually, uh, Ms. Roberts, I can start Monday. Not a problem. I could start right now if you'd like.
Philip: It's just a week. You'll be refreshed, recharged, and ready to go.
Morgan: Philip, I don't think it's a good idea if we go out of town right now.
Victor: She's right, Philip. I don't want you going anywhere.
Trent: Nicole, nice to see you, too.
Nicole: You better make this quick.
Trent: Is that any way to speak to your husband?
Nicole: Shh! Someone might hear you. Oh, God.
Trent: Quite the coincidence, isn't it? You know, I don't think I've ever been formally introduced to your, uh, ex.
Nicole: I told you you're not getting a dime, so leave me the hell alone.
Stephanie: Hey, I know you're mad right now.
Max: Damn right I am.
Stephanie: But you're not thinking straight.
Chelsea: Look, I think that we just need to leave this up to the police, okay?
Max: I can't. Don't you see that? When I think about everything that guy could have done to her, it makes me sick. It's like what happened with Ford Decker.
Stephanie: No, it's not.
Chelsea: Stephanie did not put herself in that situation. Melanie did.
Max: So you're blaming Melanie for almost getting raped by that guy.
Stephanie: Don't do this.
Max: No, I want to hear what Chelsea thinks.
Chelsea: I'm not saying that it's completely her fault.
Max: That's what it sounds like to me.
Chelsea: Yes, she probably brought it on herself.
Max: I respect your opinion, Chelsea, but that's way out of line.
Chelsea: Max, I'm not saying this to be mean. I understand that she's your sister and you want to think the best of her, but, I mean, come on. She put herself out there as a party girl. What did you honestly expect?
Melanie: She has a point.
Melanie: Chelsea's right. I do have a rep. Maybe that's why Claude thought it would be so easy. Yeah, maybe that's why dad thought it, too.
Max: Trent is sick.
Melanie: Yeah, well... I'm just lucky Nick came when he did.
Chelsea: Nick's not so lucky, is he?
Melanie: I know. I feel terrible about everything that's happened. That's why I came to say goodbye.
Max: That's not happening.
Melanie: Excuse me?
Max: I've changed my mind about you leaving. I didn't travel thousands of miles to meet my sister and watch her walk away.
Melanie: Max, like we talked about, okay? Maybe someday out paths will cross again. But for now, this is for the better.
Max: Come on, Mel.
Melanie: Don't. Please. Don't make this harder than it already is, all right? I'm gonna go say bye to Nick.
Chelsea: What makes you think he wants to see you?
Max: We should think this through, Mel.
Melanie: I have. Trust me. [Door closes]
Marlena: Why should you have any say over the people with whom I spend my time?
John: Does that mean that you have agreed to go out with him?
Marlena: No, it doesn't.
John: Well, that's good.
Marlena: But I may, if I feel like it. Why don't you like Trent?
John: Well, let's just say that there's something about him that rubs me the wrong way.
Marlena: Did that happen in the 30 seconds you spent with him?
John: Well, you know what they say about first impressions.
Marlena: Mm. You know what I think?
John: No, but I bet you're gonna tell me.
Marlena: Ever since you saw me with Trent that very first time, you realized that I will no longer be in your life. And that makes you very uneasy.
John: Are you finished?
Marlena: Yes! No, I'm not! I have been pursuing you for months, and you liked it. It gave you a sense of being in control. And now that I've stopped, you are no longer in control.
John: That's not what this is about.
Marlena: Now I'm having a life for myself. I'm having a social life for myself. And if you don't care for that, well, that's gonna be too bad.
John: Well, I don't like it, especially if it means you're gonna be involved with Trent Robbins. You don't even know the man.
Marlena: And you do?
John: Of course I do.
Marlena: I know what this is about. It isn't about Trent. You don't want me to date.
Victor: Would you ladies please excuse Philip and me?
Morgan: Of course.
Philip: [Sighs] [Door closes]
Victor: All right, you want to tell me what the hell that was all about?
Philip: Don't start with me now. Mom's already giving me static about Morgan.
Victor: This has nothing to do with Morgan. This has to do with the family business. This has to do with your career.
Philip: What are you talking about? Business is great. I just closed that deal with Tokyo. I updated all our facilities in Canada. I think I'm due for a break.
Victor: You think that's how I got ahead, by taking a break?
Philip: It's just for a couple of days.
Victor: When I handed you the reins of Titan, I did so under the assumption that you were ready to take your job seriously.
Philip: What, do you think I'm slacking?
Victor: This is a 24/7 commitment. If you're not ready to handle that, for God's sake, tell me right now.
Morgan: So, I understand the Hearth and Home line was picked up by Barron's. That's great. And I was checking out your website earlier. I just love all those aprons, you know, the ones that come in all the many colors. Really great gift idea. Can you really get them personalized?
Kate: Why are you brown-nosing? You already have the job.
Morgan: Ms. Roberts, that's not what I was doing.
Morgan: Are you okay?
Kate: [Coughing continues]
Nurse: Try not to agitate it, all right? I'll be back to check on you later.
Melanie: Hot nurse you got there.
Nick: Oh, was she? I didn't even notice.
Melanie: Maybe you'll get lucky, she'll give you a sponge bath.
Nick: I know, right?
Melanie: I'm really sorry, Nick.
Nick: Oh, it's not your fault.
Melanie: You took a bullet for me.
Nick: Yeah. It's kind of cool, huh? Bullet wound. Maybe I'll finally get some street cred.
Melanie: [Laughs] Some street cred?
Nick: Yeah, you know, get some respect.
Melanie: [Laughing] Oh. Check it out -- gangster Nick.
Melanie: I like that.
Stephanie: Hey. I'm really sorry about Melanie. I know you were hoping to spend more time with her.
Max: I feel like we barely got to scratch the surface.
Stephanie: At least you got to meet her. I mean, you could have come all this way and never even found her.
Max: Yeah, well, what if something happens to her and there's no one here to bail her out?
Stephanie: I know you're worried about Melanie, and I also know that the only way you think you can protect Melanie is to get rid of your dad. But do you want to spend the rest of your life in prison because of Trent? I don't think it's worth it, Max. I love you, and I don't want to lose you.
Max: You're not going to. I promise.
Stephanie: Then kiss me.
Trent: Listen, I did a little research on your man, Victor, and he's a veritable Donald Trump.
Nicole: I didn't get as much money as you think I did, so get off my back.
Trent: Come on, Nicky, you made out like a bandit. How many zeros are we talking here? Six, seven?
Nicole: If you're so hard up for money, why don't you max out your credit cards? Talk to your publisher. I'm sure they'll give you an advance or something. You're a smooth operator. You'll figure it out.
Trent: My resources are depleted. I need your help. Please.
Nicole: Please? I have never heard you say that word before. You must be desperate. So, just how deep in debt are you? Come on, you can tell me.
Trent: 20 grand.
Nicole: $20,000? Boy, you do have a problem.
Trent: I'll pay you back with interest. You know I'm good for it.
Nicole: What are you gonna do, rob a bank? I can't believe you're still gambling.
Trent: It was a sure thing. It couldn't miss.
Nicole: Oh, yeah. I've heard that before.
Trent: This is pocket change to you. Come on.
Nicole: That's not the point. Every time you lose money, you say you're gonna quit. And then I turn around, and you're at the horse track or betting on those stupid fights, trying to cover your losses.
Trent: This time, I'm through. I've learned my lesson. Honest.
Nicole: No. You have a serious problem. And 20 grand isn't gonna fix it.
Victor: Now is not the time for vacations. We got to get this mess cleaned up in our shipping division. Then we'll talk.
Philip: You know, I do take my job seriously.
Victor: I know, Philip. Listen, I'm sorry I was short with you. Sometimes, that's the only way to get your attention. You remember when you were growing up, and your whole life used to revolve around golf? You used to spend all your time at the country club.
Philip: 36 holes a day sometimes.
Victor: Yeah, well, I have to admit that I used to admire the way you used to latch on to something and then just immerse yourself in it. That's what you got to do now. You have to immerse yourself in Titan. There'll be plenty of time for vacations later on. And for women.
Philip: Will there? Because sometimes I wonder.
Victor: About what?
Philip: Is it possible to have it all -- the family, the career?
Victor: Of course it is. Philip, you just have to be patient.
Philip: You ever wonder what it would be like if you were still with Mom?
Victor: Why do you ask?
Philip: Sometimes I just wish you guys were together. She needs a man like you in her life.
Victor: Where is this coming from?
Philip: Well, a couple things I'm concerned about. You know what? It's not my place.
Philip: Mom was at the hospital earlier.
Victor: Did she have a reversal on her surgery?
Philip: No, she's got a really bad cough. They wanted to take some x-rays.
Victor: And Kate refused.
Philip: I don't even know if it's anything to worry about.
Victor: I'll talk to her. What's the other thing you're concerned about?
Philip: It's personal. I should let her tell you.
Victor: Is Kate in trouble?
Philip: Ask your Godson.
Victor: What's Daniel got to do with this?
Philip: You know, I thought he was this cool guy. Then he goes and pulls something like this.
Morgan: Here you go.
Kate: Thank you.
Morgan: Ms. Roberts, that is a nasty cough. Maybe you should have let Dr. Jonas check it out.
Kate: Now you're sounding just like my son.
Morgan: Well, he's just worried about you.
Kate: Which is exactly the reason that I went to see Kayla right after I left you and Philip.
Morgan: You did?
Kate: Yes, I did. And I finally convinced her to prescribe me some antibiotics. They just haven't kicked in yet. But everyone can stop worrying now. And if the cough persists, then I'll go in for tests. But until then, I'll just be popping some pills. And, Morgan, I would appreciate it if you don't say anything to Philip about this little attack. No reason for him to get worked up over nothing, is there? Good girl.
Victor: Kate, I need to talk to you, now.
Melanie: Can I see it?
Melanie: [Laughs] Where you got shot. Come on, let me see it.
Nick: Are you serious?
Melanie: Yeah. There's nothing sexier than a man with a combat wound.
Nick: All right. But, uh, it's probably not very pretty.
Melanie: Let me. That is an angry-looking gash there.
Nick: I thought you said it was sexy.
Melanie: No. I said you were sexy.
Nick: Are you always so, uh...
Melanie: Forward? [Clears throat] Why beat around the bush? And you're the total opposite, aren't you? You like to test the waters before you dive in.
Nick: Is it that obvious? Yeah. Guess you're right. I've always been overly cautious, analytical, look before you leap.
Melanie: You say that like it's a bad thing.
Nick: No, I just wish I was a little more Carpe diem sometimes.
Melanie: So you like to test the waters before you dive in. It's a good quality.
Nick: Not always. In fact, I think that might be one of the reasons Chelsea broke up with me.
Melanie: You dated Chelsea?
Nick: Yeah, for almost a year.
Melanie: Wow. I just -- I totally can't see you guys together.
Nick: Well, it's kind of a beauty and the geek kind of thing.
Melanie: Oh, no. That's not what I meant. You're a great guy, Nick. She was stupid to leave you. But I'm glad she did... because now I can do this.
John: So, you think I'm jealous.
Marlena: I think it goes much deeper than that.
John: Well, maybe you're right. Maybe I just...care about you so much I don't want you to get hurt. Could be as simple as that.
Marlena: I got to go.
John: Wait. So, this is it. You're giving up on us.
Marlena: I'm not giving up. I'm letting you go.
John: I wish you wouldn't do that.
Marlena: You should have thought about that before you destroyed the disk. That could have told you so much about the man that you were. And it was the only chance we really had. But you didn't have much interest.
John: Well, I'm sorry. And if I had the chance to do it all over again, who knows? Maybe I would have done things differently.
Marlena: Hmm. Are you saying that because you're curious about the man that you were or because you just want to hold onto me?
John: So I should have looked at the disk. I made a mistake, okay? Unfortunately, I can't go back and fix it.
Marlena: And Ava Vitali. Was she a mistake?
John: It always comes back to Ava, doesn't it?
Marlena: You made a choice, and now I'm making a choice.
John: I can't believe that woman makes you feel so insecure, even after she's long gone.
Marlena: I can't believe you would take our situation so lightly.
John: I don't even know where she is. I haven't heard from her in weeks.
Marlena: That's not the point.
John: What is the point?!
Marlena: Did you sleep with her, John?
John: Excuse me?
Marlena: Did you sleep with her? I know she spent the night with you, but were you together, even though you and I are still married? Oh. Well, there's my answer.
Morgan: You told him about Daniel, didn't you?
Philip: Nah, he figured it out himself.
Morgan: I'm sure your mother did not intentionally hurt Chelsea.
Philip: She's an adult. She knows better.
Morgan: Like you've never made mistakes in a relationship before.
Philip: Yeah. Okay, I'm not perfect.
Morgan: Those are some big words coming from Philip Kiriakis.
Philip: What about you? I'm sure you've broken a lot of hearts in your day.
Morgan: Not too many.
Philip: Who's the last guy you dated?
Morgan: Let's see. There was a cutie from the water polo team a few weeks ago.
Philip: What, that you went out with?
Morgan: Yeah, he was, like, 6'3", gorgeous eyes, killer smile, and buns you could just bounce a quarter off of.
Philip: This is the guy from Cheatin' Heart, the guy with the bad pick-up line?
Morgan: Actually, no. I met him at the grocery store in the dairy aisle. We went after the same carton of soy milk. Our hands touched, then our eyes met.
Philip: Shut up. You're making this up.
Morgan: I had you going for a little while, didn't I?
Philip: Be serious. Last guy you dated.
Morgan: That would have to be Max Brady.
Morgan: Yeah, we dated for a few months last fall.
Philip: Until you broke his heart.
Morgan: Actually, no. It was the other way around.
Morgan: He was still hung up on Stephanie.
Philip: That must have been weird -- your best friend and your boyfriend.
Morgan: Actually, it's okay now. You know, it -- I just don't think it was meant to be. He wasn't the guy for me.
Kate: [Coughs] I don't need you lecturing me.
Victor: My God, Kate, what were you thinking? She's your granddaughter.
Kate: I feel badly enough, all right?
Victor: Does Chelsea know? I can't imagine she took it any better than I am.
Kate: Well, she doesn't want anything to do with me, not that I blame her.
Victor: How could you let this happen?
Kate: It just happened. One thing led to another, all right? But you know that I would never intentionally hurt Chelsea.
Victor: Well, I want to see her. She called to borrow the jet, but she didn't tell me where she was going.
Kate: She left for France yesterday.
Victor: France? When I said I didn't know where she was going, I assumed it was Chicago or New York to see some shows or do some shopping.
Kate: Yes, well, Max, Stephanie, and Nick are there.
Victor: Oh, I see.
Kate: I guess she needs to be around her friends.
Victor: No, I think there's more to it than that. She went halfway around the world to get away from Daniel and from you.
Melanie: Cute and a good kisser. You're gonna make some girl really happy someday.
Nick: W-where are you going?
Melanie: I'm leaving.
Nick: Leaving? What, leaving, like, leaving where?
Melanie: Yeah, I have some friends in Milan. Carpe diem, right?
Nick: Yeah. Well, uh, if -- if you're ever in the States --
Melanie: Yeah, I'll look you up. Bye, Nick.
Chelsea: Hey. You up for a visitor?
Nick: Hey. Chelse.
Chelsea: How you feeling? You seem a little out of it.
Nick: Uh, it's probably the pain meds.
Chelsea: Oh, right. So, how long you got to stay here?
Nick: Hopefully just overnight.
Chelsea: Well, at least you have something to write on your postcards, huh?
Nick: Yeah, good point. So, we, uh, never really got a chance to talk.
Nick: Stephanie told me all about Daniel.
Chelsea: Right. About that.
Nick: I mean, not everything, but, um... I'm sorry.
Chelsea: Yeah, well, you know, I guess it's what I deserve for the way I treated you.
Nick: Don't say that.
Chelsea: No, I mean it. I'm the one who should be apologizing for breaking up with you.
Nicole: Pete, can I get the check, please?
Trent: We're not finished here.
Nicole: Yes, we are.
Trent: You really want me to go over there and have a little chat with Mr. Kiriakis because I will do it.
Nicole: Go ahead. Rat me out to Victor. Then I won't have any money to give you, and then we'll both be broke. But at least I won't end up at the bottom of the Salem River because of it.
Trent: You owe me, Nicole.
Nicole: I don't owe you a damn thing.
Trent: Who gave you a home? Who fed and clothed you and bank rolled your education? If it weren't for me, you would still be on the streets. And this is the thanks I get?
Nicole: Thank you, Trent, for trashing my self-esteem, for parading me around like some blowup doll in front of your colleagues. You have some nerve asking me for anything.
Trent: Well, I'm afraid you leave me no choice. Excuse me. Victor Kiriakis?
Trent: Trent Robbins. I'm sorry to intrude, but could we have a word?
Trent: This will only take a minute.
Nicole: Forgive us, Victor. This is obviously a bad time.
Victor: In fact, it is.
Nicole: So we'll just be on our way. Sorry. [Laughs]
Victor: What the hell was that all about?
Morgan: Well, since we're on the topic of exes, what about yours?
Philip: What, you mean Chloe?
Morgan: Yeah, are you two still seeing each other?
Philip: We were never really dating, just...
Morgan: Keeping each other company, right?
Philip: That's one way to put it.
Morgan: Okay, well, then are you two still --
Philip: Keeping each other company? No. In fact, Chloe's dating my brother.
Morgan: Oh, how's that working out?
Philip: Eh, I think it's great. They're a good match. Besides, Chloe just wasn't the woman for me.
Max: We're all checked out.
Stephanie: As much as I love France, it's gonna be really great to get back home and see everyone.
Max: I can hardly wait.
Stephanie: You have that look.
Max: What look?
Stephanie: Damn it, Max. You're still gonna go after Trent, aren't you, after everything I just told you?
Max: We are not arguing about this right now.
Stephanie: Well, then it's gonna be a really long plane ride home, so...
Max: Come on, Steph!
Stephanie: I can't let you do it. No matter how much of a jerk Trent is, I can't let you kill your own dad.
Melanie: You should listen to her, Max.
John: Well, now, did you or did you not encourage me to see other women? Oh, come on, Blondie. It wasn't that long ago.
Marlena: John, I've been pushing you to make a decision you are not ready to make. So, I-if you want to, you should go ahead and try things out with Ava or whoever else you choose and see how that works for you. Well, if you come back to me of your own volition, that's fine. And if you don't, then we can end it.
John: Yes. You do remember.
Marlena: I know what I said.
John: Well, then I don't understand what the point is. I...explored my options with Ava. It didn't work out.
Marlena: And now Ava's gone, right?
John: So, if she were still here, you're saying I wouldn't be trying to patch things up with you.
Marlena: Perhaps not.
John: You're always saying you want to start over, so let's start over. We'll just throw out the past, including Ava.
Marlena: Oh. Do you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to think of myself first for once. And I'm going to put a lot of distance between you and me.
John: Ah. I get it. Turnabout's fair play. You gave me permission to see other women. You want me to give you permission to see other men.
Marlena: No, that's not what I'm trying to do.
John: No, of course not.
Marlena: No, it's not. I'm not trying to hurt you back, John. I just don't think we're very good together, not anymore.
Trent: Now you know I mean business.
Nicole: You wouldn't have said anything.
Trent: Maybe you don't know me as well as you think.
Nicole: But what I do know is you owe a lot of money to some pretty scary guys, so I'd say you need me a hell of a lot more than I need you.
Trent: All right, what do you want, Nicole?
Nicole: For starters, you can give me a divorce. And then maybe we can talk about it.
Trent: But I need the money now.
Nicole: Well, then, you're out of luck.
Trent: [Sighs] [Cellphone rings] Hello?
John: Trent Robbins?
Trent: This is he.
John: John Black.
Trent: Oh, of course. Marlena's -- I guess "friend" wouldn't be the right word, huh?
John: Where are you?
Trent: I'm at the Brady Pub.
John: Stay there. We...have some issues to discuss.
Chelsea: And the sad part about it all is that, I don't know, I just felt like I was actually starting to fall for him, for Daniel -- hard, you know? Like happily ever after.
Chelsea: And why am I telling you this?
Nick: Chelsea, we're friends. You can talk to me about anything.
Nick: Yeah. Of course.
Chelsea: Okay. Then I have a question for you. Is there something wrong with me?
Chelsea: As my friend, tell me honestly. Is there something wrong with me?
Nick: No, Chelsea. There's nothing wrong with you. As far as I'm concerned, you're perfect.
Chelsea: Then why don't any of my relationships last?
Nick: Listen... you're an amazing, smart, beautiful person. It just so happens the last few guys you dated were kind of jerks. I can say that 'cause I was one of them.
Chelsea: You're not a jerk, Nick.
Nick: I had my moments.
Chelsea: Well, I did, too. I don't know. I'm just thinking maybe I'll give up men altogether.
Nick: You don't mean that.
Chelsea: Sure I do. I'll join a convent or something.
Nick: There's a guy out there just waiting for you, Chelsea. Somebody's gonna treat you the way you deserve to be treated.
Chelsea: I'm starting to think that guy might not exist.
Nick: Give it time. He'll show up when you least expect him to.
Chelsea: Oh, that's what everybody says.
Nick: It's strange. You never know when that person's gonna come into your life. It could be today. It could be a year from now.
Chelsea: It could be back in Salem or here in France.
Chelsea: So, what about you? You got your eye on anybody?
Nick: You saw her.
Nick: Melanie. You saw her kiss me.
Chelsea: I just think that you need to be careful, Nick.
Nick: Well, I'll probably never see her again. She came to say goodbye, which you probably already know.
Chelsea: Not a moment too soon.
Melanie: Killing our Dad isn't gonna solve anything.
Stephanie: That's exactly what I've been trying to tell him.
Max: Look, I don't need both you guys ganging up on me like this.
Melanie: He is stubborn, isn't he?
Melanie: Maybe he needs his kid sister to look after him and stop him from doing something so incredibly stupid.
Stephanie: Totally agree -- well, with the incredibly stupid part.
Melanie: In fact... maybe his kid sister should come back to Salem with him, after all.
Trent: All parents have issues with their children. I know you do.
Marlena: My life is not a topic of conversation. Neither are my children.
Nicole: I'd say Trent is more dangerous than Stefano because no one realizes what he's capable of.
Stefano: I'd like to make a toast to new beginnings. To us.
