Max: Feels good to be free, doesn't it?
Stephanie: No thanks to your incredibly thoughtful sister.
Max: Another thing I'd just rather not think about right now.
Stephanie: Okay. Then let's pack and get back home.
Max: Uh, I'm sorry, Steph. I-I can't do that.
Lexie: Abe. What are you doing here?
Abe: I took the morning off.
Lexie: Just like that?
Abe: No, not just like that. I just wanted to spend some time with Theo. I didn't realize that you were gonna be --
Lexie: Yeah, I switched shifts with Dr. Hunter.
Abe: So you had the same idea.
Lexie: Yeah, obviously.
Abe: Well, you know what? Um, I can go. So, whatever plans you have for Theo, you can --
Lexie: No, no. Why would you go?
Abe: The last thing I want him to do is feel that --
Lexie: What? What don't you want him to feel?
Abe: Lex, for -- for a while, I thought we were comfortable being with each other around Theo, but lately...
Lexie: There's been a lot of tension. I know.
Abe: I can't seem to do anything right. You know, whatever I say... whatever my attitude is, I'm off somehow. I either praise him too much or too little, or I expect too much of him... or too little.
Lexie: I've been judgmental of you. I-I know. But, honey, look, it's only --
Abe: I know. I know. I know why it is, Lexie. It's because you're so much more informed than I am knowledgeable. [Laughs] I'm not as enlightened as you are.
Lexie: Look, I'm sorry if I make you feel that way.
Abe: You make me feel like I've failed my son. So, surely you can understand why that would be... difficult for me to be around.
Lexie: I do. I understand. But, honey, what -- what you're sensing -- it's not true. I don't feel like you're failing Theo. I know how much you love him. I know you're trying.
Abe: But I'm not succeeding.
Lexie: What -- no, I-I didn't -- I didn't say that, Abe. Honey, please. Theo needs to know that we're there for him... and for each other.
Steve: This a bad time?
Hope: Hey, Steve. No, not at all.
Steve: You got anything new on the Hollingsworth case?
Hope: No. We're waiting on a few sources to get back to us.
Steve: Well, I just wanted to let you know I've been putting some feelers out on the street.
Hope: Thank you. I know you have, uh, sources we don't have access to.
Steve: It's all about who you know, right?
Steve: So, I got them combing through every scrap of garbage in this city to try to get a lead on Hollingsworth.
Hope: Thanks. I appreciate it. Want some coffee?
Steve: Yeah. So, how's Bo holding up through all this?
Hope: It hasn't been easy.
Steve: I can imagine.
Hope: You know how internal affairs works.
Steve: The shadow you can't shake.
Hope: Let's just say this investigation has both of us losing an awful lot of sleep.
Steve: Sorry to hear that.
Steve: Just remember, if there's anything I can do to help, baby...
Hope: Hey, Steve, you're doing it. Finding Paul will definitely help Bo and Philip. Actually, it would help everybody.
Steve: Everybody except John Black.
Tony: You're what? You're moving in here?
Stefano: Back to my home, yes. Make sure that my room is ready and take care of those things I had sent over.
Tony: But I don't understand.
Stefano: What's to understand, Antony? I am returning to reclaim what is rightfully mine.
Tony: But, Father, that's impossible.
Stefano: [Laughs] Don't you know by now, Antony, that nothing is impossible?
Tony: But coming here, Father, is a big mistake.
Bo: Who are you talking to, Tony?
Stefano: Ah. I assume there are residents of the mansion there who have just heard the news of my imminent return. Why is no one rejoicing?
Philip: Thanks for the info.
Person: Hey, any time. You just let me know.
Morgan: Oh, Daddy. [Crying]
Paul: There's my angel.
Morgan: [Sobs] God, Daddy, I thought you were gone forever.
Paul: I'm so sorry, honey.
Morgan: This is real, right? I mean, this isn't a dream?
Paul: No, no. This is real.
Morgan: Daddy, they -- they found your jacket in the river... and the money and the letters. You had me going crazy.
Paul: Morgan... I made so many mistakes in my life... and now I got to make them right.
Morgan: Daddy, what are you talking about?
Paul: I couldn't go another minute with you believing the worst. I never, ever meant to hurt you. You're all I got that's worth living for.
Morgan: Daddy, don't say that.
Paul: All I care about is that you are happy and that you're well provided for.
Morgan: Daddy, where did you go? What happened?
Stefano: Judging by your silence, I can only assume one thing -- an enemy has entered the room.
Bo: Who's he talking to?
Bo: Oh. Tony. Thank you. Hey, old man. Keeping busy?
Stefano: Good to hear your voice, Bo. I understand that you've fallen on hard times.
Bo: Don't you worry your pretty little head about me. I'll be just fine.
Stefano: We'll see each other soon, I hope, you and your pretty wife.
Bo: Looking forward to it.
Stefano: Arrogant as always. [Phone clicks]
Tony: Well, you certainly handled that with class and aplomb.
Bo: I'm not playing his games -- letting him know it.
Tony: You know it doesn't do any good to antagonize him.
John: Why are you here, detective? I understood you were on restricted duty, pending an investigation.
Bo: I wanted to talk to you about Hollingsworth. What the hell happened to him?
Marlena: John. You can't let him come here. You've seen what he's already done.
John: Not to worry, Blondie. My half brother won't show his face. He has to know that if the cops don't get him, I will.
Lexie: You should be able to react to your son freely, without feeling judged.
Abe: [Chuckles] Well, it might be a little too late for that. You know, whenever it's the three of us, I start to second-guess everything I say -- even my expressions. Am I smiling too much or not enough? And, of course, what are you gonna say about that?
Lexie: I'm sorry. I was only thinking about Theo. Look, honey, if I put pressure on you or made -- made you feel self-conscious, it wasn't my intention. Hey, um, let's spend the morning with Theo together. And I'll -- I'll do better. I promise. Hey.
Abe: Hey, there he is! Hey, big guy!
Lexie: Hi. Is his session over?
Mark: It is. And if you'd like to come in, Theo and I can fill you in on what we did.
Lexie: Yeah, that'd be great.
Lexie: Come on. So, his session went well?
Mark: Extremely well. Today, we worked mostly with the swing, and Theo was very confident. As I'm sure you're both aware, two weeks ago, we couldn't get him anywhere near the swing. But today, he was like Tarzan.
Lexie: Oh, Theo, that's great!
Mark: I'm sure you guys have done your research, so I'll try to keep it short.
Abe: Oh, no, no, no. Please, please. The unabridged version.
Mark: Well, what swing work assists us with is Theo's vestibular system, which, as Dr. Carver knows, is just a fancy way of referring to the structure of the inner ear.
Lexie: And his hypersensitivity to vestibular stimulation means that sometimes he's very fearful of ordinary movements.
Mark: Exactly. Like swinging, for example, or sliding, climbing, even walking up and down stairs.
Abe: But everything went well today.
Mark: It was very encouraging, yes.
Lexie: Theo. Honey. Did you hear how well you did today? Theo, will you look at me, please? Theo? I am so proud of you.
Abe: You know, Lexie and I are very, very grateful for the work you're doing with Theo.
Mark: Oh, listen. Your son is a pleasure. I always look forward to our sessions. Hey, buddy. I'll see you later this afternoon, okay? You take care.
Lexie: Thank you. You, too. Thanks for everything. Come on, sweetheart. Come on.
Abe: Thank you.
Mark: Take care.
Lexie: So, today, Daddy and Mommy both are going to spend some time with you before your next session.
Theo: One, two.
Abe: Hey, you know, that's right. And because you had such a good session, I think we should have a celebration.
Lexie: Oh. What did you have in mind?
Abe: Uh, why don't we go to the park? We'll get some ice cream. Maybe we'll hit the playground.
Lexie: Yeah, I'm in.
Abe: [Laughs] Hey, you know what?
Theo: One, two.
Abe: All right, Theo. You are more important to your Mommy and Daddy than anything in the whole world. We're so happy when we're together as a family.
Theo: One, two. One, two.
Stephanie: You don't want to leave.
Max: That's right.
Stephanie: Okay, so, you're just gonna stay here in France and do what, let your sister con you some more? Max, I know you want to see the good in her, just like you want to see the good in everyone. That's just the type of guy that you are. But I think this time you could be wrong.
Max: Steph, I know you're trying to protect me, and I'm grateful for that, Steph. I really am.
Stephanie: But you refuse to listen to any of my advice.
Max: If your advice is just to give up on my sister and go home, then yeah.
Stephanie: I-I understand what this means to you. I just don't want you to be naive about the kind of person that your sister really is.
Max: You're not telling me anything that I don't already know.
John: I told you that I would protect you. And after what we shared in your office, I would be hard-pressed to leave your side.
Bo: The P.D. has been notified. As soon as Stefano shows up --
John: You're gonna throw him in jail.
Bo: How'd you guess?
John: I'll believe it when I see it.
Bo: Tough talk from a man who may face murder charges.
John: Excuse me?
Bo: You heard me.
John: I don't remember being formally charged.
Bo: Matter of time.
John: Can we just drop the cop schtick for a minute, focus on what's important?
Bo: I am focusing on what's important.
John: No, you're not. So I will tell you what's important. Make sure that my brother stays away from my wife because if he doesn't, I meant what I said. If you don't take him out, I will. And then you can charge me with murder.
E.J.: Is everything all right?
John: Well, it will be, as soon as you assure me that I have legal right to this house and all the DiMera holdings.
E.J.: All right.
John: So, you'll get to work on that.
Stefano: This house is mine and always will be. It's good to be back...again.
Steve: I let my guard down.
Hope: How so?
Steve: Like everybody else, by thinking all this stuff with the DiMeras was over, Stefano's reign of terror was behind us.
Hope: I am so sorry about what happened.
Steve: It could have been worse. That psycho could still have our little boy. But he's home with us now, and we can keep him safe.
Hope: We're here for you. You know that. Always.
Steve: I know that. [Telephone rings]
Hope: What you got? Where? I'm on my way.
Steve: What's going on?
Hope: Paul. He's been spotted.
Steve: All right. Call me.
Morgan: Daddy, I don't understand. Why can't you tell me what happened?
Paul: Well, 'cause it's not important.
Morgan: It is to me.
Paul: Morgan, there's a lot of people looking for me, and I don't want you any more involved in this than you already are.
Morgan: Daddy, people? What people?
Paul: People that it's best you don't know about.
Morgan: Then why are we in such a public place? Why are we at the park?
Paul: I'm not running anymore. I'm done. I'm gonna turn myself in to the police.
Morgan: Daddy, I don't understand.
Paul: I just wanted to see you one more time like this. And I wanted to tell you how proud I am of you.
Paul: And I wanted to tell you how much I love you.
Morgan: [Crying] I love you, too. [Cellphone ringing]
Paul: Hey, you might want to get that.
Morgan: I don't care who it is. It's Philip.
Paul: Go and answer it, Morgan.
Morgan: Hey, Philip. What's up?
Philip: Hand the phone to your father.
Morgan: Whatever you have to say to my Father, you can say to me.
Paul: Morgan, it's okay, honey. Let me talk to him. How you doing, Philip?
Philip: Well, isn't this an interesting turn of events.
Paul: Well, you might say that.
Philip: If you're thinking about running again, I'd reconsider. I know exactly where you are.
Paul: Well, good for you, kid.
Philip: You're going down, Paul. Do you hear me?
Morgan: Daddy, what was that about?
Paul: Ah, nothing. Philip just wanted to say how happy he was I was all right.
Morgan: Daddy, if there's something you are not telling me --
Officer: Paul Hollingsworth?
Hope: Show me your hands, Paul. Turn around slowly.
Morgan: [Crying] Detective Brady, why?
Paul: What do you want, Philip?
Philip: You made a big mistake, switching alliances, Paul.
Paul: There is no alliance, kid. I'm on my own now.
Philip: Yeah, handcuffed to a chair and all out of options.
Paul: Well, I came back to turn myself in.
Philip: You came back to turn yourself in before being arrested. You expect me to believe that?
Paul: You expect me to give a damn whether you believe it or not?
Philip: Of course that's your attitude now that you don't need my help.
Paul: Listen to me. I did what I thought I had to do. And now, because of the love I have for my daughter, I'm gonna do the right thing. For the first time in a long time, I'm gonna do the right thing.
Philip: That's a lot of love you've shown her. As soon as you sent her that tape, your days as father of the year were over.
Paul: My hand was forced.
Philip: Right. Just like you were about to turn yourself in.
Paul: You know what, Philip? You can convince yourself of whatever you need to convince yourself of. I know what's in my heart. And I intend to take responsibility for my actions.
Hope: Oh, I'm so glad to hear that. What are you doing here, Philip?
Bo: You have the right to remain silent. You give up the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Stefano: I know my rights.
Bo: You have the right to have an attorney present during questioning. If you can't afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you by the state.
Stefano: [Chuckles] You really are relishing this moment, aren't you?
Bo: Yeah, sometimes I do enjoy my job.
Stefano: Your job. I hear your job is in serious jeopardy, detective.
Bo: You can worry about that from your holding cell downtown, you crazy son of a bitch.
Tony: I suggest we remain civil, detective.
Stefano: It's all right. It's all right. It's always the most fearful dog that howls the loudest.
John: And it's always the coward who takes but never earns.
Stefano: Speaking of earning things, how are you enjoying my home, John? Seems like you've made yourself quite comfortable.
John: Well, it's not your home anymore. You have a new home now. It's already furnished. It's called the State Prison. Enjoy it, brother.
Roman: Well, well, Stefano. Glad you finally decided to turn yourself in and cooperate with the law.
Stefano: Hmm. [Sighs]
Roman: Would you like to call your attorney?
Stefano: Oh, it will not be necessary. I won't be in this hellhole long enough.
Bo: I wouldn't be so sure of that.
Roman: Did you process Hollingsworth?
Hope: Yeah, all set.
Bo: Steve, whoa.
Steve: Son of a bitch! What did you do to my boy?!
Bo: Steve, come on.
Steve: Let go of me! He took my kid, Bo!
Bo: Steve, I understand. You got to chill.
Roman: Steve! Steve! Calm down. Stefano is under arrest. You have to know we will add kidnaping and child endangerment to all the other charges.
Bo: Take it easy.
Steve: You listen to me, old man. You come anywhere near my child again, I will kill you!
Bo: Steve, no! No!
Steve: You hear me?!
Bo: Steve, come on. Morgan and Philip are out there. You have to question them, right?
Hope: Yeah, especially Philip. I want to know how he found out about Paul and what he was doing here with him. Hey, how are you holding up?
Bo: Looks like a red-letter day for both of us.
John: You're not real stable, Blondie.
Marlena: No, I'm just feeling a little light-headed. That's all.
Anna: I think you need to rest. Let's get you upstairs.
Marlena: Yeah, I'd like to lie down for a while.
Tony: Is she okay?
John: She will be.
Tony: I don't expect her to be 100% yet, even someone as resilient as Marlena.
John: So, Elvis, what's the verdict?
E.J.: Hmm? Sorry, beg your pardon?
John: Now that Stefano is back, even though he's incarcerated, what do you think his rights will be pertaining to all I own now?
E.J.: I can't answer that question. Not yet.
John: Spoken like a true lawyer.
Tony: I appreciate your interest in my Father's estate.
John: Formerly your father's estate. It's mine now. And I'm not running a damn bed and breakfast here, so I want everybody out, except for Blondie.
Lexie: You really are into those leaves, aren't you, sweetheart?
Abe: [Laughs] You know, when I think of all the money we spent on toys...
Lexie: Yeah. This is nice.
Lexie: You do have a great relationship with your son, Abe. I had no right to criticize you.
Abe: Oh, come on, now. You know, that's just because you're concerned, and you're protective. We both are.
Lexie: Yeah, but you're not always criticizing me and making me feel like I'm doing something wrong.
Abe: Well, you know, you never do.
Lexie: Yeah, right. [Both laugh] You know, the, uh -- the other night, Theo just would not go to sleep. I stayed with him for over an hour, reading "Goodnight Moon" over and over and over, and he just would not close his eyes. He wouldn't lie down. I mean, he was having a fit, Abe. Finally, I just -- I just walked out of the room. I just left him there, banging his fists against the wall. I needed a break. I just -- I couldn't deal with him. [Sighs deeply] So, there you go. At times, I'm disappointed in myself, too.
Abe: It's difficult... for both of us.
Lexie: What are you looking at, sweetheart?
Morgan: Well, if you've got something to say, say it.
Philip: I'm waiting.
Morgan: For what?
Philip: An apology.
Morgan: Are you joking?
Philip: Do you see me laughing?
Lexie: No, sweetheart. That's the sky.
Lexie: Oh, my goodness. He heard that plane.
Abe: [Chuckles] Is that what made you look up, sweetheart?
Lexie: [Chuckles] Sweetheart, boats and planes are different. Planes fly in the sky, taking people to faraway places. Can you say "plane"?
Abe: Hey, you know what? Boats -- boats float along the water, and planes fly in the sky. You know, but planes and boats are types of transportation, so...
Lexie: Well, yeah. Yeah, that's right. So, I mean, maybe that's --
Lexie: Yeah, that's progress. I mean, it may not have been the right word, but it's how he saw it. His perceptions are different than ours.
Abe: So, we just have to tweak our perceptions just a little.
Lexie: Yeah. Yeah. Then maybe we can see into his world, you know, without giving up on our goal of having him understand ours.
Morgan: You know what? I'm sorry, okay? See, friends don't lie to each other, and that's all you've ever done to me is lie to me. Even today, you had me followed because you thought I was meeting my Father.
Philip: So you're the offended party here.
Morgan: Why the hell wouldn't I be?
Philip: 'Cause I was the one that was short changed, Morgan. You thought I killed your father.
Morgan: You know, my Father was right. I should have never gotten involved with you.
Philip: Morgan, wait.
Morgan: Let go of me. I'd like to see my Father now.
Hope: Sorry, I can't let you do that yet.
Morgan: Well, then, if you'll excuse me.
Hope: Morgan, wait. I'm afraid I can't let you leave, either. We need you to wait in case we have any more questions.
Morgan: I have answered every question y'all have thrown at me. I think I've been more than cooperative.
Hope: Listen, why don't you just grab a cup of tea and wait for a minute, okay, until I can talk to you? After that, maybe I can arrange for you to see your father.
Tony: John, I understand that you have amnesia, but I've been told that you have a pretty strong grasp with the present, at least.
John: Presently, I want you out.
Tony: Yes, and that at least you have a nodding acquaintance with reality, in spite of lost memories.
John: I watched as Blondie was nearly paralyzed by your maniac father. That is the reality that I deal with.
Tony: But this maniac you're referring to also happens to be your brother, or you have not managed to retain that bit of pertinent information.
John: You don't want to get in my face, Antony.
Tony: Anna and I are not leaving.
John: Yes, you are. I'm checking on Blondie.
E.J.: John, wait a second. I've been thinking about this. And I think you should know that as far as the family business is concerned, it's impossible to predict what's gonna happen. The same applies to the mansion.
Tony: You see, John, my Father is no longer incapacitated. So, whatever property his lawyer assigned to you may not now be legally yours. In other words, all bets are off.
John: And if Stefano remains in prison?
E.J.: Well, that would leave the entire DiMera Empire up for grabs.
Hope: What's going on?
Roman: Well, we are just trying to decide what to do with our man here.
Steve: Really? What's to decide? Why don't you charge him? Kidnap and child endangerment.
Roman: Steve. Steve.
Roman: Commander Brady. Are you sure about that? Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. No, I get it. Yeah. Let him go.
Bo: What do you mean?
Steve: What? What?
Roman: The D.A. says there are no charges against Stefano and none will be filed.
Bo: What the hell?
Steve: What's he talking about, man, no charges? He took my son! That's kidnaping! What can't we prove here, man?!
Roman: According to the D.A., the only thing they have against Stefano is false imprisonment of John Black. And since Stefano managed to bring John back from the dead, so to speak, the D.A. decided not to bring any charges at all.
Steve: This is ludicrous!
Bo: Friends in high places, huh, old man?
Stefano: It's called justice, Bo. Rare when it happens, but it's very uplifting.
Bo: Come on, Roman. Just give me a couple minutes alone with him.
Roman: Bo, as much as I would love to do that, you know I can't. We have to let him go.
Philip: Morgan. Hear me out.
Morgan: What now, Philip? You didn't get your apology, so now you want my gratitude? You want me to thank you for not killing my Father?
Philip: You think I was being glib before, but I wasn't. Yeah, I might make some threats sometimes, okay? But that's to protect myself or my business. But I would never, never kill anyone. You have to believe that.
Morgan: I don't know what to believe. All I know is I fell in love with you, and I thought we could have something really wonderful. I was dead wrong.
Steve: So, what are you gonna do, Roman? You just gonna let him walk?
Roman: There's not a damn thing to do, Steve. The book is closed for now. We have to accept that.
Bo: So, we play by the rules, and this is what it gets us. Where's the justice in that?
Abe: I just heard from the mayor and the governor. I made a couple calls myself to the State Attorney General and the Salem D.A., and I was informed that Stefano has been arrested. I was also told to let him go. So, evidently, some very serious strings are being pulled.
Bo: So, let's unpull them.
Abe: Uncuff him. Let him go.
Abe: I'll do it myself. Come on. Up you go. Let's go.
Stefano: Thank you, Abe. Well, I must say, this has been very entertaining, gentlemen. But, really, I should run along. So much to do. So little time. [Sighs] Oh, give my best to your families.
Max: I'm sorry about earlier. I-I'm not in the greatest frame of mind right now.
Stephanie: I'm sorry, too. Let's go home.
Max: I -- not -- not just yet. I can't.
Stephanie: Your sister can take care of herself.
Max: I know Melanie's a bit screwed up.
Stephanie: A bit?
Max: So she's materialistic and she likes to have fun. Who cares? That's no reason for me to give up on her. She deserves another chance.
Stephanie: I just think you're setting yourself up for an even bigger disappointment.
Max: Well, I got to do what I got to do.
Stephanie: And what's that?
Max: Talk her into coming back to Salem.
Stephanie: And let me guess. You're gonna stay here in France until you figure out how to do that.
Max: Hey, look, if you want to go back now --
Stephanie: No. I want to stay.
Max: You sure?
Stephanie: Yes. Max, I love you. One of the main reasons why I'm so crazy about you is because of how loyal you are. I may not like it, but I'm not gonna leave.
Max: I love you, Stephanie.
Stephanie: I just wish you weren't so damn stubborn.
John: If I didn't know better, I would think that you two are trying to phase me out.
Tony: Oh, it's not up to us, John. It's a legal matter, obviously.
E.J.: I think that what Tony is trying to say is that now that Stefano is a factor, all prior legal settlements are null and void.
John: We'll see.
Stefano: Marlena. What a pleasant surprise. Ah, you thought perhaps you would never see me again, huh? But your were mistaken. And now that I'm back, we have, uh, some unfinished business to attend to.
John: He's out.
Stefano: Very observant, John. [Chuckles] I would also like to thank the rest of you for rushing down to the station to demonstrate your unwavering support.
Tony: Father, I --
Stefano: You are all vermin, ingrates! My God, I am betrayed by my own family! You disloyal fool! Pompous idiot! Dishonorable bastard. Worthless, the lot of you! Totally worthless. I want you out of my house now, this instant! Out! Out! Out!
Roman: We need you down at the station.
John: Not a good time.
Roman: We have Paul Hollingsworth down here.
John: You have him in custody?
Roman: That's right. And it would be a good idea if you came down here voluntarily. Otherwise, I send uniformed cops to come get you.
John: Damn this day!
Max: I think we should get to know each other better. I mean, I want to know about your life.
Melanie: No, actually, you don't.
Chelsea: You and Kate are probably the people that care about me the most. I guess that's why it hurts so much.
Stefano: Are you challenging me?
E.J.: Actually, yes.
Stefano: Bring it on.
