Roman: All right. What do you got?

[Indistinct conversations]

Abe: Look, I want you to keep trying to tie the Seventh-Floor cameras into this monitor. Now, I know you had a feed for a few seconds.

Tim: I did, but then I lost it.

Abe: Just keep trying. Keep trying. Damn it. There's got to be some way to gain access to that floor.

Security: The elevators and the communications are still down, stairwells locked, and all systems are impervious to the overrides.

Abe: [Exhales deeply] Evacuation?

Lexie: All the critical patients have been moved to county. The other patients have been moved to lower floors.

Roman: All right. We got an update on the ventilation system. Someone managed to get those exhaust fans working on the Seventh Floor, and there's some sort of colored gas being pulled through.

Abe: Any idea what kind of gas it was?

Roman: Don't know yet, but it's being dispersed through a locked water-filtration system in case of toxins.

Abe: Where the hell could that gas come from?

Roman: We don't know yet.

Abe: Damn it. What the hell is going on up there?

[Computer keys clacking]

Tim: [Sighs]

Lucas: [Exhales sharply] Ow. [Exhales deeply] Chloe. [Groans] Chloe, come on. Wake up. Honey, wake up. Come on, Chloe, wake up.

Chloe: [Coughing]

Lucas: Are you all right?

Chloe: Oh, my God.

Lucas: What? What is it?

Chloe: Oh, I am so dizzy. My head feels like someone's hitting it with a hammer.

Lucas: All right. Come here. Try to get up and sit down, okay?

Chloe: Yeah.

Lucas: Sit over here. Look, I don't think it's the gas anymore. I don't think there's a sign of it. Do you know what happened?

Chloe: No. You passed out, and I guess I did, too.

Lucas: Yeah, well, at least we're both still alive.

Chloe: So, do you think this whole lock down and gas thing is over?

Lucas: If Stefano's behind this, no, it's not over -- not by a long shot.

Steve: Somebody help us!

Kayla: [Crying] He's gone! He's gone!

Steve: Somebody!

Kayla: [Sobbing] My baby's gone.

Steve: Sweetness...

Kayla: Our baby's gone!

Steve: No, no, no, no. No. We're gonna get him back.

Kayla: Who would take our baby? Why would they take our baby? What --

Steve: What?

Kayla: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I bet Stefano.

Steve: No.

Kayla: No, no, no. No, no, no. Marlena told me that he was the one that gave her the injection of the drugs. Oh, my God.

Steve: She said that?

Kayla: Yeah. Yeah.

Steve: If that son of a bitch touched our baby, I'm gonna kill him with my bare hands!

Kayla: Oh, he wants our baby.

Steve: Hey!

Kayla: What would he want with a baby? We got to get out of here. We got to get out of here! Let us out! We need Joe! Joe, we're coming! Joe!

Steve: Anybody out there?!

Roman: All right. Nicole. I thought you left.

Nicole: I did. I didn't hear anything more on the news, and I just had to find out what was happening to E.J. and everyone else upstairs.

Roman: Did you find another way to get in?

Security: No, but they are trying to reconnect the phone lines and the intercom.

Roman: Okay. Let's check those out.

E.J.: Hey, we can't do this. We can't do this.

Sami: Oh, but --

E.J.: [Chuckles]

Sami: [Exhales deeply] Oh, God. Oh, my God.

E.J.: [Chuckles] I'm sorry.

Sami: [Chuckles] It's okay. It's okay. You have nothing to be sorry about. [Chuckles] Oh, E.J., let's just figure out how to get out of here. God. Help! [Pounding]

Roman: Good. Have a seat.

Lexie: Good news. There are no complications due to patients being moved or relocated.

Abe: Oh, thank God.

Lexie: Still, there's so many people we care about up there, Abe.

Abe: Yeah, there are, including Stefano.

Lexie: You really believe my father's behind all this?

Abe: Don't you?

Lexie: I don't know. I mean, the last time I examined him, he was still in a paralytic coma.

Abe: You told me that his brain-wave patterns indicated that he should have been awake.

Lexie: Yeah, yeah. But, Abe, I tested him. He was unconscious.

Abe: Or he was faking it. Or he took some sort of drug to convince you that he was comatose. This is just too coincidental to be random or to be an accident.

Lexie: Yeah, I know. You're right.

Abe: You know, Stefano has to be behind this... and also what happened to Marlena. And if he is, and when we catch him -- and we will -- he is gonna wish that he had never awakened from that coma.

Kate: Roman. What's going on? I heard on the news that the Seventh Floor is under lock down. That's where Lucas is.

Roman: Kate -- Kate, calm down.

Kate: Well, I will if you tell me what's going on.

Roman: We don't know a whole lot yet.

Kate: Well, you have to know more that what's on the news. Roman, my son is up there.

Roman: So is Stefano DiMera.

Kate: What? I thought he was at the State hospital.

Roman: No. He had a seizure, and he was brought here for treatment.

Kate: But he's still in a coma, right?

Roman: There is a strong possibility he could be awake and active.

Kate: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Then he's going to go after Lucas for trying to kill E.J.

Roman: We don't know that.

Kate: We know Stefano. We know that if he feels like someone has wronged him, he always makes them pay.

Roman: There are other people up there besides Lucas.

Kate: Then let's get them the hell out of there.

Roman: We're trying.

Kate: We're not trying hard enough, now, are we?

Roman: You listen to me. Listen to me. Sami and Marlena are up there, too. Believe me, we are doing everything we can.

Chloe: There's just got to be some way out of here.

Lucas: I know. Just relax, okay? We got police cars down there, fire trucks, news vans. Someone will come up here and save us. They have to.

Chloe: So, what? You think we should just wait until they do?

Lucas: No. We'll check the elevators again and all the doors at least one more time.

Chloe: [Sighs] My head is killing me, and I'm still dizzy from that gas.

Lucas: Short, shallow breaths. That's the key to fighting this.

Chloe: You said it was gone.

Lucas: Meaning I didn't see it anymore. All right? Maybe the ventilation system kicked in or something. I don't know, but I don't think the air's totally clear yet.

Chloe: Great. So we don't know what it is or how long it's gonna last.

Lucas: Relax. Let's focus on getting out of here.

Chloe: Oh, God. I'm having trouble breathing now.

Lucas: Don't do that again. Just calm down, okay? I'm sure we got something to help you out. This is a hospital. They got to have something around here, right? Ah. Here. This will help. Perfect. Here. Here. Sit down. Take this. Breathe into this and just try to stay calm. Can you do that?

Chloe: Yes.

Lucas: Come on.

Chloe: [Breathing deeply]

Lucas: There you go. Deep breaths, just like that. Slow down a little. There you go. Is that any better? All right. Just listen to me. When I take the bag away, I want you to continue breathing short and shallow. Can you do that for me?

Chloe: Yeah.

Lucas: That help any?

Chloe: Yeah, I think so. Thank you, Lucas.

Lucas: Don't thank me yet. Thank me later when we get out of here. Can you move? You all right to walk?

Chloe: Yeah, I'm fine.

Lucas: You sure?

Chloe: Yes.

Lucas: All right. Come on. Let's do this. Let's go. Come on.

Chloe: Okay. Well, where do we start?

Lucas: I don't know. I think we're all right as long as we stick together.

Chloe: I like that idea. The thought of running into Stefano again scares the hell out of me.

Stefano: As well it should, my dear.

Tim: Commander, I think I got it.

Abe: Excuse me.

Roman: It's E.J. and Sami.

Kate: Oh, my God.

Abe: What stairwell is that?

Tim: A small, connecting stair between Floors 6 and 7, far South side of the building.

Roman: All right. Work on getting the other cameras on that floor activated.

Tim: Yes, sir.

Abe: I want a swat team, rescue team...

Kate: [Scoffs] I knew something had to be going on between those two. Lucas is so better off without her.

E.J.: You're quiet.

Sami: Well... circumstances, the danger we're in.

E.J.: Is there anything else?

Sami: Of course not. Maybe we should try to get in upstairs again. I'll work on the door.

E.J.: Hey, Samantha, just -- tell me that this is not just all about -- that it wasn't a mistake, that it wasn't due to the circumstances, that it wasn't to do with --

Sami: It wasn't.

E.J.: Thanks.

Sami: It wasn't... because of the gas here... because of being trapped here. What happened, happened. I know what I said. I meant it. I couldn't imagine my life without you, E.J.

E.J.: Thank you. I couldn't imagine my life without you. Come here.

Stefano: [Chuckles] What a lovely gesture, Lucas. [Clears throat] It's nice to see that chivalry is not completely dead.

Lucas: What do you want?

Stefano: What do I want? Ah, I've compiled quite a list.

Lucas: I'm sure you have. I must be near the top, right?

Stefano: And why would you think that?

Lucas: Because you tried to take me out before 'cause I shot E.J.

Stefano: Because you could not bear to lose Samantha, which is why I am curious as to what you are doing here with the lovely and talented miss lane.

Lucas: This has nothing to do with her.

Chloe: What are you going to do to us?

Stefano: Nothing.

Chloe: Well, then, just leave us alone.

Stefano: [Chuckles] I'm sorry, but that I cannot do.

Lucas: Let her go. You can have me.

Stefano: Actually, Lucas, I am not here to punish you. See, I am not the one that's going to cause you pain.

Lucas: What are you talking about?

Stefano: You see this? Hmm?

Lucas: Yeah, I see it. So what?

Stefano: Well, it will show you something that I am not sure that you are prepared to see.

Lucas: I've about had it with all your riddles.

Stefano: Go ahead. Come on, Lucas. Look. It will show you everything you need to know.

Chloe: Don't do it, Lucas. It has to be a trick.

Stefano: No, it's not a trick, my dear. Unh-unh. Go ahead, Lucas. Look.

Lucas: There's nothing there.

Stefano: As I said, I am not the one that's going to hurt you.

Chloe: I'm not surprised.

Lucas: Neither am I.

Lexie: Yeah. Okay, thanks. [Telephone hangs up]

Kate: Excuse me, Lexie. Do you have any idea where Roman is?

Lexie: No. I haven't seen him since he and Abe went up to the Sixth floor.

Kate: They don't have any idea of what's going on up there, do they?

Lexie: No. All lines of access and communications were completely severed. The only thing we've seen was Sami and E.J. trapped on that stairwell.

Kate: If your father's behind this, he's going to come after Lucas.

Lexie: [Exhales deeply] Kate, look, I wish I could tell you otherwise, but I know my father. He is gonna come after whoever he feels has wronged him, and that includes almost everyone trapped up on that floor.

Lucas: So Sami and E.J. are together. What do you want me to do? Lose my mind and break down because she's betrayed me? Sorry, it's old news.

Stefano: Is it really?

Lucas: Yeah, really, it is. I told her it was over between us, and now I'm telling you.

Chloe: Lucas, can't you see that he's baiting you?

Lucas: Don't worry about it. What are you here for, old man?

Stefano: Considering the situation here, I don't think it wise for you to insult me.

Lucas: You're gonna do whatever you want to do, anyway.

Stefano: [Chuckles] Is that your backhanded way of asking me whether or not I'm going to punish you for shooting Elvis, hmm? No. At least not now.

Lucas: Do you want me to sweat it out and watch my back, live in fear my whole life?

Stefano: Listen, you got off pretty easily -- okay? -- For attempted murder.

Lucas: What's the point to all this?

Stefano: The point of all this?

Lucas: Yeah.

Stefano: You would never comprehend it. But this -- I just want to tell you that I am very happy, and it's a good idea that you are moving on now with the lovely Miss Lane, because it is obvious that Samantha has finally realized that her place is by Elvis' side.

Lucas: That makes you really happy, doesn't it?

Stefano: It does, indeed.

Lucas: Fine. If you ask me, I think they deserve each other.

Stefano: They do. And, together, they will be the future of my family.

Lucas: You can go to hell.

Stefano: Ah, well, at least [Chuckles] I won't be alone.

Sami: Dad! Oh, my God! Dad!

Roman: All right. Are you both okay?

Sami: Yes, I think so.

Abe: We heard there was gas up here.

E.J.: Yeah, there was some kind of gas.

Abe: Any idea what it was?

E.J.: No, we have no idea. I mean, basically, we can tell you it's non-lethal. It seemed to cause coughing, drowsiness, dizziness, weakness. It was a mild hallucinogen also.

Sami: Yeah, I-I thought that E.J. was Stef--

E.J.: The point of the matter is, whatever it is, down here, it seems to have dissipated.

Stefano: So someone got the exhaust system working. Any thoughts on who?

E.J.: No.

Roman: Where's Marlena?

Sami: Oh, Dad, the last time we were up there, she was still in her room. She was still okay.

Roman: Okay. Get upstairs, work on that door. Put those gas masks on just in case.

Security: Yes, sir.

Roman: All right. Now, is Stefano awake?

Sami: Oh, God, Dad, I was hallucinating. I don't know. I think I was talking to him. I think he was moving around.

Abe: Oh, that bastard is behind this. Look, the two of you get downstairs and get checked out by Lexie.

Sami: Okay, we will, but I just hope you can get everyone else out safely.

Roman: We will. But right now, do what Abe says. Get downstairs, let Lexie make sure you're all right. You, too, E.J.

E.J.: Come on.

Kayla: [Crying] Help. Help us, please. Please. We need to get out of here. Please help.

Steve: Sweetness. Baby, come -- come here.

Kayla: [Sobbing]

Steve: Baby. Come sit down.

Kayla: Nobody's coming.

Steve: Don't say that. Listen to me. You got to listen to me. Listen. We're gonna find him. We're gonna make it through this. You can't give up. You can't give up. You hear me?

Kayla: Nobody's coming. W-what if the gas killed everybody?

Steve: Maybe it didn't. It's dissipated now. All it did to us was knock us out, right?

Kayla: Nobody's coming.

Steve: Sweetness... it's gonna be all right. I promise. It's gonna be all right. [Baby crying]

Kayla: Joe? Joe?

Chloe: What do you think Stefano's really up to?

Lucas: I don't know, and I don't care. I just can't understand why we're the only ones here.

Chloe: Do you think we're alone up here?

Lucas: I don't know. It just doesn't seem right. You know, all the elevators don't work, and the doors are locked.

Chloe: Do you think Stefano's gonna try something else?

Lucas: We got to be ready if he does. Come on. Let's go back inside. I'll check the phone. It's dead.

Chloe: Great. Now what do we do?

Lucas: Well, I don't think we can roam the halls anymore with Stefano out there. I'm sure somebody will come looking for us soon. We just should sit tight, you know, wait.

Chloe: I'm really glad you're here, Lucas.

Lucas: Chloe, I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. You understand that?

Lexie: They're here. Thank God. We need to get you both into cubicles so we can draw some blood and get you on oxygen.

E.J.: I'm fine.

Lexie: We heard there was some sort of gas up there.

Sami: There is, and it makes you dizzy. It makes it hard to breathe.

Lexie: Well, who knows what the long-term effects might be? All the more reason for you to get tested.

Kate: Abe, any news about the others?

Abe: We got to the connecting stairwell between Floors 6 and 7, and right now our people are working on getting through to the Seventh Floor.

Roman: Okay. They can't get that door pried open. They're using the acetylene to cut through it right now.

Abe: Excuse us.

E.J.: Sure.

Abe: If Stefano is up there, we better be ready when we break in.

Roman: You got it.

Sami: So my mom is paralyzed, sort of, and she had these toxins injected into her, and Aunt Kayla's working on an antidote.

Kate: Dear God. That sounds horrifying.

Lexie: Was it Father?

E.J.: Yeah. It looks like it.

Sami: Oh, yeah. He made it abundantly clear that he is seeking revenge on everyone that's hurt him, and he's starting with my Mother.

Lexie: Why Marlena?

E.J.: Because she injected Stefano with the same toxin.

Lexie: That's impossible.

E.J.: No, it's not. That's certainly what Father believes.

Lexie: Well, he's lying.

Sami: Um, actually my mom admitted it to Aunt Kayla. She described all the different toxins she used so that Aunt Kayla could try to come up with an antidote.

E.J.: It was that mix of toxins that paralyzed him, put him in that apparently catatonic state.

Lexie: Wait. "Apparent"?

E.J.: Look, physically, he was immobile, but mentally he was completely active the whole time. Marlena trapped him inside his own body.

Sami: Oh, please. He deserved it -- and worse. She should have killed him.

E.J.: Easy, please.

Kate: Was Lucas up there?

Sami: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I haven't seen him since the lock down, but...

Kate: Because you were locked in the stairwell with E.J.?

Sami: Yeah.

Kate: I mean, do you care about Lucas at all?

Sami: [Scoffs] Of course I do.

Lexie: Okay, look, let's not do this right now. We all care about everyone who is up there, all right?

Sami: God, I hope they're okay.

E.J.: Everybody's gonna be fine, all right? Okay.

Chloe: Lucas, what you said about being through with Sami -- I've heard you say that before.

Lucas: I'm just sick of it, Chloe. I'm sick of jumping through hoops for Sami. You know, always playing the waiting game with her -- waiting for her to make up her mind and decide who she wants to be with. "I want to be with Lucas. I want to be with E.J. Lucas or E.J.? I have feelings for E.J. because we have a son together. But, Lucas, I've got to be honest. I still have feelings for you because of our daughter, and I just don't know." [Sighs] No real tie breaker there, is there? The only time Sami is ever honest is when it benefits Sami.

Chloe: Listen, I know that you're angry and upset right now, but, in time, you never know.

Lucas: What? "In time," what? You think things are gonna change? No way. History always repeats itself with Sami. I'm telling you, we're through. I've come to realize that... we'll never have a chance at being truly happy with each other.

Chloe: I'm sorry.

Lucas: Well, don't be, 'cause I'm not. I am free. I am finally free, not only legally, but emotionally. You know, I can just concentrate on my future. My daughter and my son.

Chloe: And if you play your cards right, I could be a part of that future.

Lucas: Then I better play my cards right.

[Baby crying]

Chloe: Do you hear that?

Kayla: It's Joe.

Steve: Where's that coming from?

Kayla: It's Joe.

Steve: It sounds like him.

Kayla: Joe! Joe!

Steve: Out here.

Kayla: Somebody!

Steve: Help! We're locked in here!

Kayla: We're coming!

Steve: Our baby's out there! Help!

Chloe: Oh, my God, Lucas, it is a baby.

Lucas: Come on. We got to do something.

Kayla: Please!

Steve: Hey!

Kayla: Please! Uhh! Somebody help!

Steve: I'm gonna try to break it again. I haven't been able to find anything that won't break the minute I put pressure on.

Kayla: Come on. Hurry up. We got to find Joe bore that monster does something to him!

Steve: Back away, baby. Back away.

Kayla: Come on! Hello! Hello!

Lucas: Hey, who is that?

Steve: It's Steve Johnson. Who's that?

Lucas: It's Lucas Horton.

Steve: Lucas, Kayla and I are locked in here. You have to get us out, man. Listen, there's a keypad next to the door there.

Lucas: Everything's locked. What makes you think the code's gonna open the door?

Kayla: I came in that way before, and somebody came in here when we were unconscious and they took our baby! Please!

Lucas: We heard him. We heard him crying. Give me the code. What is it?

Kayla: It's 2013.

Steve: Try it.

Lucas: There.

Steve: Oh, that didn't do it. Try it again.

Kayla: Do it slowly -- slowly.

Lucas: All right, all right, all right. There.

Steve: Let's go. Where'd you hear the baby?

Lucas: Somewhere over here.

Lexie: I need to get you both into cubicles. I'll have the nurse draw some blood, and then I'll come in and examine you, okay?

E.J.: Okay.

Sami: Hey, um... I really think that Lucas is gonna be okay.

Kate: You don't know that. And, frankly, I don't think you give a damn, Sami.

Lexie: Nicole. Hey. Look, I know that we don't know each other very well, but I do know my brother. And Lord knows I've had my share of run-ins with Sami.

Nicole: Haven't we all?

Lexie: And I do know that you care for my brother.

Nicole: I do. I just can't bear to see that he's blinded by that --

Lexie: Okay, okay. I feel the same way. I can't stand it, either. So, um, listen. If there's any way that you can get my brother away from Sami, I say go for it.

Nicole: Thank you, Lexie, but, um, I have been down that road before with Sami, and, believe me, I have given it my best shot more times than I want to count with E.J. It's a losing battle, and I don't have the strength to fight it.

E.J.: Alexandra.

Lexie: Yeah?

E.J.: Samantha's ready for you.

Lexie: Okay. Um, listen, I need you to get into that cubicle and get some blood drawn, all right?

E.J.: Hi.

E.J.: Oh, it's so good to see you. I didn't know you were here.

Nicole: Yeah. I came as soon as I heard about the lock down on the news. So, uh, you and Sami must have been through hell.

E.J.: No, actually, we were really lucky to get out of there alive. God only knows what's happening up there with my father on the loose.

Nicole: Oh, so the rumors are true? Stefano's awake and behind all this?

E.J.: Yeah. It looks like it.

Nicole: Well, I don't know what's worse -- being trapped with Stefano or stuck in a stairwell with Sami.

E.J.: Ah. That explains a lot. So you know about that, do you?

Nicole: Yeah. They were able to get sporadic video feed from one of the security cameras.

E.J.: That's nice.

Nicole: Yeah. That's -- that's real nice. Your open shirt. Hugging together, kissing passionately. Yeah, that visual is burned deep in my brain.

Lexie: Your B.P., heart rate, and respiration are normal. Whatever those fumes were that were being piped in, they don't appear to have been toxic. And hopefully your blood screening will come back clear.

Sami: And if it does?

Lexie: Well, then we can be pretty sure there won't be any residual or recurring effects. Did you have any symptoms other than the dizziness and difficulty breathing?

Sami: Yeah. Yeah, actually. I, um, I was sort of hallucinating, and, um, I thought that E.J. was Stefano.

Lexie: But then it stopped?

Sami: Yeah. It only happened a couple times. And then, you know, E.J. and I were in the stairwell, and we were breathing fresh air, but I don't know about everyone else. I mean, they were breathing it a long longer than I was. I mean, they could --

Lexie: Sami, everyone's gonna be all right, okay? Listen, why don't you get dressed while I check on E.J., and we'll wait for your blood-test results?

Sami: Okay.

Nurse: Dr. Carver.

Lexie: Yeah?

Nurse: Your husband asked me to tell you that they're about to cut through the door on the Seventh Floor. You should have everyone down here on standby.

Lexie: I already do.

Kate: Lexie, that sounds to me like he thinks people are going to be injured or incapacitated.

Lexie: Kate, I'm afraid we don't know what's going on up there. We just have to be prepared for anything. Excuse me.

Steve: Stop. Listen. Listen. Listen.

Lucas: What? I don't hear anything.

Chloe: No, wait. I hear something.

Kayla: What?

Chloe: It sounds like a banging or something, right? Do you hear it?

Lucas: Now that you say something, I do. It sounds like it's coming from back near the stairwell. Come on. I'll take Chloe with me. We'll check it out.

Steve: Check back with us, though.

Lucas: All right. We will. Good luck.

[Baby babbling]

Kayla: Wait. Wait. Do you hear that? Do you hear it?

Steve: I do. Where's it coming from?

Kayla: It's Joe. It's Joe.

Steve: Where's it coming from?

Kayla: It's coming from in here.

Steve: Wait, wait. Be careful. Be careful. Take it slow. Take it slow, baby. It could be a trap. Take it slow.

Kayla: Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God.

Steve: Is it Joe?

Kayla: Oh, Joe. Joe. Oh, God. Joe.

Steve: It's our baby boy. Is he all right?

Kayla: Oh, baby, baby. Oh. Oh. Joe.

Steve: He's okay?

Kayla: He's okay. He's okay. Oh. Oh.

Steve: We got you, big boy.

Abe: I really didn't think he'd be here.

Roman: Me, neither. All right. Go over every inch of this place.

Abe: I'm gonna check with the rest of the team and see how many of the others they've found.

Roman: I'll check with Marlena, then find Steve and Kayla.

Abe: I can't believe what went on up here, from what little Lucas and Chloe tells us. What the hell does that bastard want with Steve and Kayla's baby?

Roman: I don't know. Let's just hope Stefano didn't take him and that we find him soon and safe.

Stefano: Hello, gentlemen. It's about time you got here.

Kayla: Let me look at you. Let me look. I think you're fine. I think you're good.

Steve: Is he gonna be fine?

Kayla: I think you're good. Well, as far as I can tell. But I think we need to have him examined. We need to get ourselves examined. God knows what we were breathing in that gas. Oh, God. What was the point of all this?

Steve: I don't know, baby. Maybe, like I said, he was just using our baby, Joe, to get to us. That's all. He's just trying to rattle our cage. That's all. He's fine. Right?

Kayla: Oh, baby.

Steve: Let's get him out of here.

Kayla: Wait, wait, wait. What is that?

Steve: What?

Kayla: There's some kind of mark on his wrist. I've never seen that before.

Steve: What is it? A freckle?

Kayla: Maybe it's just a freckle. Maybe it's just a freckle. Let's get you out of here, get you examined, make sure Stefano didn't do anything to you.

Steve: Let's go. Take it easy.

Roman: All right. Go help the rest of the squad. Take anybody you find downstairs if the nurses say it's okay to move them.

Officer: Yes, sir.

Stefano: I actually thought you might be up here sooner. I should have known that you would show up a little late -- as usual. I'm told that there was a very dire situation up here -- some sort of potential debilitating gas. Fortunately, I was, uh, able to get away before I was affected. There were others, I've been told, who were not as lucky. I'm hopeful that the gas -- whatever it was -- will prove to be non-toxic and have no long-lasting effects. Oh, yes. There is one other thing. Dr. Marlena Evans. I want her to be arrested for assault and attempted murder. It was she who injected me with the deadly toxins that left me paralyzed. Be assured, gentlemen, that if you do not see that she is brought to justice and punished for what she did to me... I will. Ciao.

Kate: Oh, baby.

Chloe: For a while, we didn't think we were gonna get out of here.

Kate: Are you sure? Are you both all right?

Lucas: Yeah.

Chloe: Yeah, I think so.

Kate: When E.J. and Sami told me that they didn't know where you were, I was a little nervous, believe me.

Lucas: We knew they were in the stairwell. We just don't know how they got there.

Kate: Do you care?

Lucas: No, I don't.

Kate: Are you sure?

Lucas: Absolutely. After what I saw up there today, things will never be the same between us.

Kate: Come on.

Nicole: You know what? You should really let Lexie check you out and make sure there aren't any more lingering effects from the purple gas.

E.J.: I understand exactly why you feel this way.

Nicole: You really don't -- you don't need to explain, E.J. I get it. And everything that you said about us possibly having a relationship --

E.J.: Oh, come on, Nicole. I meant everything I said.

Nicole: At that time.

E.J.: No, not at that time.

Nicole: Yes, at that time. Now that you had your little bonding session with Sami in the stairwell, which was lovely, by the way --

E.J.: Can I get a word in edgeways? If you'd like me to explain exactly what happened, I'd be happy to.

Lexie: Okay, E.J. Sami is fine. Her blood screening's free of toxins, so I assume yours will be, too. But I still want to examine you.

E.J.: I'm fine, thank you.

Sami: Um, E.J... you shouldn't take any chances.

E.J.: Okay.

John: Dr. Carver, what's going on? You said she was snapping out of it.

Kayla: I really need to go be with Joe.

Roman: Not now. One more minute.

Kayla: Please.

Roman: One more.

Tony: We have a problem that we've brushed aside, and it is the time we confront it head-on.

E.J.: You mean John Black?
