Nicole: Officer, can you help me? I need to get up there and find out what's going on.

Officer: I'm sorry, Miss. You must be aware it's impossible for anyone to gain access to the seventh floor right now. It's completely sealed off.

Nicole: I know, but it doesn't make any sense. How did this lock down get activated in the first place?

Officer: That's what the police are trying to find out.

Nicole: Well, I wish they would work faster. Someone I know -- someone I care about -- is trapped up there, and who knows what kind of trouble he can be in?

Officer: I'm sorry.

Roman: That's what I'm telling you, partner. We can't get anybody in or out of the Seventh Floor. The phone lines are down. The cell service is jammed.

Abe: This lock down mechanism on the doors and elevator -- I mean, there must be some kind of emergency override.

Roman: There is, but it's not working, either.

Abe: What the hell's going on?

Roman: I wish the hell I knew.

Abe: Look, do you have any idea who's involved, besides the hospital staff, I mean?

Roman: Well, I did get a partial list of the patients and the visitors. Among the latter, my daughter Sami.

Abe: Oh, look, I'm sorry, buddy. You must be worried sick.

Roman: There's also E.J. DiMera, Tony and Anna DiMera, John Black, Steve and Kayla with their baby, Lucas Horton and Chloe Lane, Marlena.

Abe: I heard about what happened -- attacked in her apartment. Who the hell would do such a thing?

Roman: There was another name on that seventh-floor list -- Stefano DiMera.

Abe: [Chuckles] Come on. I mean, you can't think that he had anything --

Roman: Abe, I know it shouldn't be possible, but it is one hell of a coincidence.

Abe: You know, I'd be suspicious, too, except for the fact the man's in a coma. I mean, there's no way that he could have anything to do with any of this.

Lexie: Don't be so sure of that.

John: So, who's it gonna be? The monster that banished you to that island for 20 years or someone with a future who can offer you a piece of it?

Tony: Well, the future's not gonna mean a thing if we don't get this ventilation system back online, and the way we do that is that you and I work together.

John: I'll take that as my answer. I'm glad that you're with me.

Tony: [Sighs]

Stefano: I knew you had no backbone.

Tony: Stefano.

Stefano: Siding with the enemy now, are we, hmm, after all I have done for you? You disgust me, Antony. You are a disgrace to the DiMera name. You never were a real son to me, because a real son would never betray his father. For that, I will see you burn in hell.

Tony: That's enough! You conniving bastard!

John: Not a good way to start our new relationship.

Stefano: You seem frightened, my dear. Surrendering so soon, hmm? The fun has just begun. It is called payback. Hmm? If you recall the hell that you put me through in that coma... now it is time for me to return the favor.

Marlena: [Thinking] No. I won't let you do it, Stefano. Not to me, not to John. I have to get that antidote. I have to.

Kayla: Joe. Joe. Okay. [Joey crying]

Kayla: You're safe. You're good. Okay. Steve. Steve, please wake up. Steve, please. Please wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Please. We got to get help. We got to get help. Help -- we need help. Help. Help. Help. Help. Oh, God. Help. Help, please. [Gasping] Help me. Joe.

Stefano: Samantha, are you there?

E.J.: Samantha! Samantha!

Sami: E.J. Wh-- no. No! No! It was Stefano! It was Stefano, E.J.! No! E.J., come on! Is that you, E.J.? I'm so sorry! E.J., say something! E.J., say something! You got to wake up! You got to be okay! E.J.!

Abe: Lexie, what are you talking about?

Lexie: It's very possible that Stefano could have come out of his catatonic state.

Roman: What?

Abe: Have you heard something?

Lexie: Well, no, not since the lock down happened, but his latest test results show greatly increased brain activity -- the brain activity of a man who should, by all rights, be fully conscious.

Abe: But the last time you saw him --

Lexie: He was still non-responsive, but that could have changed at any time, especially given his prognosis.

Abe: My God. If he really is awake...

Roman: But even if he is, how can he engineer a lock down, and who the hell else knows what else on that floor, in a short amount of time, since Lexie last saw him? That's impossible.

Abe: You know, I'd like to agree, but one thing I think we've all learned about DiMera is that...nothing's impossible.

Tony: Anna. Anna. [Gasping] Anna. Anna, wake up! Wake up. Oh, Anna. [Smooches] Please, G-God. Oh, Anna, I should -- I should never have left you alone.

Sami: E.J. -- E.J., you have to be okay. [Sniffles] E.J., please. Please. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for everything I said. I'm -- I'm sorry. I-I know it's not your fault. I know you didn't do this. Okay. I know it's not your fault. I know it was because of Stefano, and I'm so sorry I said those things to you, but you have to help me, remember? You promised that you'd help me fight Stefano and you'd help me get out of here. Please -- please, E.J., you have to be okay. [Inhales sharply] Okay. I'm sorry. I'll think. I'll think. Okay. Okay, h-he has a pulse, and -- and I can feel him breathing. It doesn't look like he's bleeding, but he could have internal injuries. He could have broken something. Okay, I won't -- I won't move him. I'm so sorry. E.J., I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for everything I said. I'm so sorry. I didn't know it was you. I'm so sorry. Please -- please, you can't leave me. You have to be okay. E.J., I'm sorry. My -- my life won't be the same without you. Pl-- please. Please! Please.

Marlena: [Thinking] Try, Marlena. Try harder. You can do this. You've beaten Stefano before. You can beat him again.

Tony: Anna. Anna, my darling. Come back to me. Sweetheart.

Anna: Oh.

Tony: Oh -- oh, Anna.

Anna: Tony.

Tony: I'm here. I'm here. Are you all right?

Anna: [Groans]

Tony: What happened?

Anna: I was here. Stefano came in, and he came towards me, and -- I don't know. That's all I remember.

Tony: Did he do something to you?

Anna: Well, I don't remember. I-I must have passed out from either the fear or those horrible fumes. [Coughs]

Tony: I'm sorry. We don't seem to have much control over those.

Anna: But I thought you and John were working on the ventilation system.

Tony: We were. We were. But I'll take care of you. [Chuckles]

Anna: Thank you, darling. I'm better now. I'll be better.

Tony: Oh, good.

Anna: So, what's happening? Did you find Stefano?

Tony: No, not yet. I don't know what he's been pumping into that air, but I began to hallucinate. I was working with John. We were working on the wiring, trying to get the ventilation back. And then all of a sudden John turned into Stefano.

Anna: Oh, darling. What is Stefano doing to us?

Tony: Oh, I don-- I don't know. I can't even begin to imagine. [Smooches]

John: [Exhales deeply] I think that jet was easier. Let's hope this works.

Nicole: Philip -- Philip, hey.

Philip: Hey.

Nicole: Thank you, though I could use something stronger.

Philip: Stick with the coffee. This could be a long wait.

Nicole: It's killing me not knowing anything. I wish we had some news.

Philip: I still say you're wasting your time worrying about E.J.

Nicole: I can't help my feelings, Philip. I shouldn't have told you. I don't know why I did.

Philip: I just meant that E.J. can take care of himself.

Nicole: Well, I'm not just worried about E.J. There are other people trapped up there.

Philip: My brother. I mean, she's still recovering from that beating he took in prison.

Nicole: Hopefully Chloe is taking care of him.

Philip: If she's all right herself.

Nicole: Okay, we really have no reason to believe that anyone's in danger or -- or has been hurt.

Philip: Except for the fact that every single line of communication on that floor has been disabled. That tells me this isn't just a random malfunction.

Nicole: Didn't Roman say something about tapping into the hospital security cameras?

Philip: Why don't we see if he's had any luck?

Nicole: No. He told me not to bother him. He's busy.

Philip: To hell with that.

Roman: I'm just looking for some kind of access here. Hell, I'm take an air-conditioning duct. The only problem is getting to it.

Abe: And we have to be on that level.

Lexie: So until we find a way to deactivate this lock down, there is no getting anyone in or out.

Philip: And how long will that take?

Abe: We don't know yet.

Philip: And what's going on with the security cameras? Can we at least see what's happening with them?

Roman: Not yet, but we're working on it.

Nicole: Isn't there anything more you can tell us about Chloe or Lucas or E.J.?

Roman: All we know is Chloe signed in to visit Lucas.

Lexie: According to admissions, E.J. came in with Sami. The two of them, along with John, are the ones who found Marlena in her apartment.

Nicole: E.J. was with Sami? They could be trapped up there together?

Roman: Does that concern you?

Nicole: No. I'm just surprised. I thought he was visiting his father alone.

Sami: E.J. -- E.J.!

E.J.: Hey, Samantha.

Sami: Are you okay?

E.J.: Yeah.

Sami: Oh, my God. Be careful.

E.J.: Ow! Ow!

Sami: Be careful.

E.J.: Oh, my head.

Sami: I'm sorry. Are you okay? No, slow down. Slow down. Okay, just be careful.

E.J.: It's all right. It's all right. Oh!

Sami: Just -- how do you feel?

E.J.: I-I'm -- I'm okay. My head...

Sami: I'm sorry, okay? M so sorry, E.J. I didn't know. I-I-I thought you were Stefano.

E.J.: What do you mean, you thought I was Stefano?

Sami: Well, I was hallucinating or something because of the smoke. I-I think -- and -- I don't know. Now it seems like there's no smoke in here, so I think we're okay.

E.J.: Wait a second. Wait a second. I saw you. And I came in here. I-I was going down the stairs, and I -- somebody grabbed -- did you -- did you grab me as I was -- did you trip me?

Sami: I was running into the stairwell to get away from Stefano. I thought he was chasing after me.

E.J.: I was chasing after you. You were upset. I wanted to see what was going on.

Sami: I was hallucinating, okay? I'm really sorry. I-I didn't know what I was doing. I thought I saw Stefano. I thought I talked to him and he was saying these horrible, creepy things to me, and he freaked me out. So I ran into the stairwell. The door was open, and I managed to get in here, and then I thought he was gonna chase after me. I thought he was gonna try to kill me. So I hid, and I tripped him, and he fell down the stairs.

E.J.: No, no. I -- okay. Wait a second. Just calm down, all right? I followed you. You tripped me. I fell down the stairs.

Sami: I know, all right? I know it was you now, and I'm sorry, okay?

E.J.: It's all right. It's okay. It's all right. You were under the influence of some toxic drugs.

Sami: I really didn't know what I was doing. I'm sorry.

E.J.: It's okay. Can I ask you something? You didn't, uh, you didn't know what you were doing. Did you know what you were saying?

Sami: What I was saying?

E.J.: You said that you couldn't imagine your life without me.

Sami: I was scared.

E.J.: I know. I know you were scared. That doesn't mean you can't give me an honest answer.

Sami: Oh, come on, E.J. I don't think this is exactly the right place to be talking.

E.J.: This is the right time. This is exactly the right place.

Sami: No. No. I think we should figure out how to get out of here.

E.J.: Samantha, would you please look at me? I just want to know if you meant it.

Sami: Well, if you're asking if I was upset at the idea of you dying because of me, of course I was. I was worried sick.

E.J.: That's not what I'm asking. You know that's not what I'm asking, all right? I would like to know where you and I stand, and I'd also like to know where you stand with Lucas.

Sami: Where I stand with Lucas isn't exactly up to me. He basically dropped me like a hot potato. It's all because of one mistake.

E.J.: Why? Because he walked in on us in bed?

Sami: And I thought he could forgive me for it, and obviously I was wrong.

E.J.: Come on, Samantha. It's about a lot more than that. You know it is.

Sami: Look, Lucas came back, and I focused on that and him and what he had seen, and I just was desperate to make sure we reconnected, because I wanted us to get back together, and that's all I thought about, and so I --

E.J.: That's why you -- so you pushed me away. Is that what you're saying? That's what you're saying.

Sami: Well, I forced myself to ignore everything else -- to ignore how I felt about you and about what happened that night. Look, that night changed everything. Maybe it was a mistake that we had sex, but I can't take it back. I can't change what happened. I can't change how I feel about you. Then I have to stop lying to myself about it.

Anna: [Coughing] Marlena, are you all right? I'm sorry. I meant to get back here earlier, but -- I'm sorry. It seems like all hell is breaking loose out there now. We still can't find Stefano. We still can't find a way out. And the worst part is, these fumes are making people crazy. Tony was just hallucinating.

Marlena: [Coughing]

Anna: Oh, my God. Why is your oxygen off again? You need this. Oh, God. Breathe. That's better, isn't it? [Coughs] Oh, good. Good. We can't have you breathing this stuff, because, like I was saying, it's making people crazy. Tony was just crazy. He just thought John was Stefano, and he came this close to attacking him. But don't worry. John is fine. John is fine. And Tony is almost back to normal. He just went with John to try to fix the ventilation system... which means that we'll be getting out of here pretty soon. So you hang in there, okay? You hang in there. And you remember what I said to you -- that when this is over, we are gonna make Stefano pay. [Coughs] What? What is it? Are you trying to tell me something?

Stefano: Hello, John. This is your conscience speaking. You've been a very bad soldier -- very bad, indeed. But that is all about to change.

John: You always were a coward, Stefano. Why don't you show your face?

Stefano: And why don't you behave? Conduct yourself like the pawn that you are.

John: I'm not your pawn. In fact, I never really was your pawn, was I?

Stefano: Oh, but you were... and you will be again very soon.

John: Oh, come on. Give it up. You don't control me anymore. It doesn't matter what you do. I just don't take to your programming.

Stefano: I admit there was obviously a glitch in the transformation, or rather, re-transformation. It didn't quite turn out as I planned, but not to worry. We can simply reboot, and when we do, this time I'm sure the metamorphosis will be complete and you'll belong to me again. This time, forever.

Lexie: Nicole, are you all right?

Nicole: Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just, uh, worried like everyone else.

Lexie: Well, you seemed upset when I mentioned that E.J. came to the hospital with Sami.

Nicole: Like I said, I was surprised. E.J.'s my friend, and I was under the impression that he didn't want to have anything to do with her, outside of the child they share.

Lexie: So, you have a thing for my brother.

Nicole: Excuse me?

Lexie: I-I-I'm just a little surprised.

Nicole: Why is that?

Lexie: Well, I-I always thought that, um, well, that you only went for men with money and E.J.'s hardly wealthy, although he might have been if John hadn't taken over.

Nicole: I guess you'll find this hard to believe, Lexie, but that's not all I care about.

Lexie: Are you in love with him?

Nicole: No! And what's with all the questions? I had no idea that you and E.J. were so close.

Lexie: You know what? I'm sorry. It's none of my business, right? I just feel for you, Nicole. I mean, I just know that you're in a difficult situation, and...

Nicole: Okay. What do you mean?

Lexie: I'm not saying this to hurt you, all right? But it's obvious that E.J. Is only interested in Sami. And despite what he says, I don't think that's gonna change any time soon.

E.J.: And now... what are your feelings, huh?

Sami: E.J., you should be really careful.

E.J.: Oh, I'm fine.

Sami: You could really have a concussion.

E.J.: I don't know if I have a concussion or not. But I know what I heard. Samantha, did you mean it? Come on. Please. I-I just -- just -- did you mean it?

Sami: Yeah. Yeah, I did.

E.J.: Thank you.

Sami: How long do you think we're gonna be stuck here? [Door handle rattles] [Pounding]

E.J.: I don't know. I have no idea.

Sami: You know, I cant stop thinking about my family. And they're all up there. Everyone is up there, and my mom is so weak, and anything could happen. God, I just wish that I knew they were okay.

E.J.: Samantha, Steve and Kayla are up there. They know that your mother's vulnerable. Look, they're going to make sure that she's safe.

Sami: You don't know that. Stefano could have done something to her by now. He could have taken my Mother. He could have done something to them so that they can't help her.

E.J.: Come here. Stop this, all right? Just sit down, please. Just sit down. All right?

Sami: God, I just can't help it. I'm just terrified for her and -- and everyone and us!

E.J.: Shh!

Sami: What if something h--

E.J.: Listen. Come on. Stop. Stop. Stop.

Sami: You can't keep saying that! What am I supposed to do?! What am I supposed to --

E.J.: Come here. Come here. Come on. It's okay.

Stefano: We'll get you back in the lab, John, and this time, I assure you, nothing will go wrong.

John: Oh, come on, Steffie. Why are you doing this to me? I'm your brother.

Stefano: Ah, well [Chuckles] Forgive me if I'm not feeling the brotherly love, huh? But, then, neither, apparently, were you all this time that I was -- how can I put it? -- Indisposed.

John: No, I wasn't feeling anything. But isn't that the way you wanted it?

Stefano: It is exactly how I wanted it. But you do feel, huh? That's the problem. A part of the old John still lives. Granted, not much, but he's there, and we cannot have that. He must be destroyed -- completely -- so that my pawn can be reborn.

John: You're never gonna get me back in that chair... because I'm gonna kill you first. [Grunting]

Tony: John, what the hell's going on here? What are you doing with that?

John: Well, your father thinks that he can turn me back into his pawn, but that's not gonna happen.

Tony: No, of course not. But you don't have to tell me that, John. I'm on your side, remember? I came here to help you.

John: You were trying to take my head off with this. Or do you think I'd forgotten?

Tony: No, of course not. I can explain.

John: That's enough! Shh! It's too late, Antony. I've had it with you. I've had it with all the DiMeras.

Tony: John, I didn't mean to hurt you. I was hallucinating from that damn gas. I thought you were Stefano.

John: Right. Stefano.

Tony: Yes, he was taunting me. He was attacking me, and I-I got so angry. I-I-I grabbed the first thing I could find to just shut him up. Actually, I thought you were Stefano. That's the honest truth. Otherwise, why didn't I just finish you off?

John: Where have you been? Did you see him?

Tony: No, no, not yet. I would have been back sooner, except Anna had past out. She's all right, but it's that damn gas. Whatever it is they're pumping into this place, it's making us see things, do things. Look at you, for instance. You've got that thing in your hand. You're about to try and kill me, and look what you've done to the wall.

John: Well, let's just say that the real Stefano was pushing my buttons. Let's get back to work. Hold this light. We have to get some air into this room, dissipate the gas, because for those of us who aren't immune to the fumes, like yourself, this could end very, very badly.

Anna: What is it? What is it? What are you trying to say?

Marlena: [Coughing]

Anna: Oh, God.

Marlena: [Wheezes]

Anna: Don't try to talk. Please, don't try to talk. Just breathe. Breathe. Breathe deep. Very good. Very good. And -- and try not to worry, 'cause we're gonna get through this. We're gonna beat Stefano. I promise you. [Coughs, sniffles]

Nicole: Thank you for that uplifting speech, Lexie. Look, I-I know that E.J. is still hung up on Sami. I get that, okay?

Lexie: Okay.

Nicole: And I don't have to tell you how many times she has hurt him or how many times she's gotten his hopes up and then crushed them as soon as Lucas crooked his little finger. He's not putting up with it anymore. I think he's finished with her this time -- for good.

Lexie: Well, I think that'd be for the best.

Nicole: And I think... that E.J. finally realizes he can't be happy with her, because all Sami ever wants is what she can't have. And at this very moment, that is Lucas.

Lexie: Well, the most important thing right now is getting E.J., Sami, and everyone else out of whatever situation they're in upstairs. Excuse me.

Nicole: Sure.

Officer: Commander Brady, I'm sorry to interrupt.

Roman: What do you got?

Officer: Good news. I think we caught a break.

E.J.: Hey. You feeling better?

Sami: A little.

E.J.: Good.

Sami: I'm still terrified for my Mom.

E.J.: I understand. I'm sure that every single attempt is being made to rescue us.

Sami: I just hope it's in time. There's so many people up there I care about.

E.J.: Does that include Lucas?

Sami: Of course, it does.

E.J.: I'm -- I'd really like to know how you feel about Lucas. I mean, right here, now.

Sami: I love him... and I always will. But he doesn't...want to have anything to do with me, and I have to deal with that and... move on.

E.J.: I see.

Sami: I'm sorry.

E.J.: Do you think that... I mean, Lucas saying this was part of the reason that you realized that you had these feelings for me?

Sami: I didn't say that. No, that's not how it is.

E.J.: I mean, how is it?

Sami: I don't know. I mean, you were lying there on the floor, and I thought you were dead, and I thought I had killed you, and... I guess just a lot of things hit me, you know, all at once.

E.J.: Well, things like what?

Sami: I don't know. Just... maybe that anything's possible. I'm sorry. I can't promise you anything more than that.

E.J.: No, that's fine. That's a lot more that what I hoped for. [Chuckles] Come here. [Smooches]

Abe: We could use some good news.

Officer: We figured out a way to tie in the seventh-floor security cameras into the monitor at the nurses' desk. It should be up and running any minute.

Roman: Good. We'll finally be able to see what's going on up there.

Sami: [Exhales deeply] Can we just stay like this? E.J., just tell me everything's gonna be okay.

E.J.: Sure. [Smooches] Everything's gonna be okay.

[Joey crying] [Footsteps approach] [Crying continues]

Steve: [Exhales sharply] [Inhales sharply] Hey. Hey. [Groaning] [Coughing] Kayla. Kayla.

Kayla: [Groans] [Coughing]

Steve: Come on, baby. You all right? Come on, baby.

Kayla: What happened?

Steve: Come here.

Kayla: What happened?

Steve: [Coughing] You passed out. Come on.

Kayla: The baby --

Steve: Let's get up. The baby? Go ahead.

Kayla: The baby. Joe.

Steve: He had the oxygen. He's gonna be fine. He's fine.

Kayla: Joey. Oh, my God. Oh, my God! The baby! Where's the baby?! The baby's not here!

Steve: No. Wait. Wait.

Kayla: No, the baby's not here! Help me! Where's the baby?! Oh, my God!

Steve: It's still locked.

Kayla: Let us out!

Steve: Help!

John: I think we're onto something.

Tony: Really?

John: This is it.

Tony: What is it?

John: The connection that was disabled. If we can get these wires back together in the right sequence, we're gonna be in business.

Tony: Oh, not a moment too soon.

Anna: [Coughs] John, Tony, what's happening?

Tony: Oh, Anna, I think we're about to breathe again.

Anna: [High-pitched coughing]

Tony: Are you all right? Anna? Anna? [Coughing]

John: Hang on, you two. We're almost there.

Tony: [Groaning]

Abe: What happened?

Roman: I thought you said the feed to the security cameras was working.

Technician: It was. I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. We had it for a second, then suddenly lost the signal. [Cellphone ringing]

Roman: Yeah? Commander Brady. Ventilation? All right. All right. Thanks for telling me. Hospital Security. It seems somebody is trying to activate the emergency ventilation system on the Seventh Floor. It doesn't look good.

[Monitor beeping]

Marlena: You.

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

My heart belongs to one man and one man only.

Oh, yeah? Who's that?

Some P.I.

I want you to find someone for me.

Who?

That cheap tart who's been sleeping with my husband.

Remember -- we don't talk about your husband.

Or your wife.
