Daniel: So much for locking down his room.
Bo: How's he doing?
Daniel: You weren't supposed to have visitors -- no family, no friends...
Bo: Would you just answer the damn question?
Daniel: I thought I was clear about it, but apparently I wasn't clear enough.
Bo: Would you just tell me how he's doing?
Daniel: Everything seems to be fairly stable, except for the blood pressure that's gone through the roof, and that indicates high stress. Look, Bo, I know that you're concerned about him, but I need you to get out of here now.
Victor: Let me speak to my son.
Daniel: Victor, I-I can't. I can't allow that.
Victor: It's important. Please.
Bo: This isn't my field of expertise, but maybe your denying him his request is causing his stress.
Daniel: All right. All right, I get it. Two minutes.
Kate: How is he?
Daniel: I need to know the truth, Kate.
Kate: About what?
Daniel: Well, you told me you were just talking when Victor went into cardiac arrest, but I'm not buying it. What did you say that almost killed him?
Ava: Oh! No fair.
John: What's not?
Ava: Well, we're supposed to be celebrating my good news, and you're all... doom and gloom.
John: Please forgive me.
Ava: No, it's okay... since I'm not gonna be extradited and I get to stay with you for a long, long time. [Smooches] I can afford to be patient.
John: It's the situation with Paul. I can't get it off my mind.
Ava: Yeah, I figured that.
John: It could be his daughter in the hospital room right now.
Ava: Yeah, if Philip hadn't played the hero, you're right.
John: It wasn't supposed to go that way. Philip taking a bullet wasn't part of the... design.
Ava: Hey... John, look at me. Come here. No guilt, okay? Philip's gonna be fine. He's got a great doctor working on him.
John: Yeah, you're right. Kiriakis is a survivor. He'll be fine.
Ava: Yeah, he's gonna be just fine, and then when he is, we have to find a way to pin everything on him.
Morgan: I was so worried I was gonna lose you. It should be me lying in this hospital bed, not you. If I could trade places with you, I would, in a second. [Sniffles] [Smooches] I've never felt this way before about somebody. Philip, I-I think I'm falling in love with you.
Chloe: [Clears throat]
John: It's interesting how quickly things can...get out of hand.
Ava: Yeah, I could just strangle Eddie for being so careless.
John: That was just how he was trained. He thought Morgan was going for a gun.
Ava: No, that's not how he was trained. There are ways to avoid a shootout, and Eddie knows better.
John: It's too late to turn back now. Besides... I don't want you worrying about anything, because I still have an ace up my sleeve.
Daniel: I will not allow anyone to put my patients at risk. Do you understand?
Kate: It wasn't my intention.
Daniel: Do you think I give a damn what your intentions were?
Kate: I felt that Victor had a right --
Daniel: Had a right to what? Another stroke?
Chelsea: Daniel, that's enough, please. Come on. Don't you think she feels bad enough? Her son was just shot. My grandfather's sick here. Come on. Considering the circumstances, I think you're being a little hard on her.
Daniel: My concern is Victor. I don't mean to be insensitive here.
Kate: No. I know you don't. And what I was going to say is that I felt that Victor had a right to know that...Philip was in the hospital, too.
Daniel: If he weren't in precarious health, sure, he'd have a right to know. The crucial thing for him right now is that he be protected from getting upset by anyone or anything.
Kate: We're talking about his son, Daniel.
Daniel: We are talking about his life, his survival! I will be the one who decides what my patient needs to know. Is that clear?
Chelsea: What is wrong with you?
Daniel: You really need to stay out of this right now.
Chelsea: Excuse me? I don't appreciate you speaking to my grandmother that way.
Kate: No, it's okay, Chelsea.
Chelsea: No, it's really not. Daniel, I would like you to apologize to her right now.
Victor: How's Philip?
Bo: He's gonna be okay. You raised a tough kid, so I don't want you to worry.
Victor: I heard he lost a lot of bod.
Bo: Yeah, and they had a difficult time finding his type, but everything worked out. He got his transfusion, and he's on the mend.
Victor: I-I can...
Bo: Hey, Victor... take it easy. Why don't you get some rest now?
Victor: I have to tell you... I can get my hands on as much of Philip's...blood type as the hospital needs.
Bo: Okay. That's good. I'm sure they could use some extra. Why don't you tell me where it is? I'll go pick it up.
Victor: I can't.
Chloe: I'm sorry to interrupt such a private moment.
Morgan: How long have you been standing there?
Chloe: It doesn't matter. Oh, my God.
Morgan: He's doing better. He'll gonna pull through.
Chloe: Of course. I'm sure your love for him helped save his life.
Hope: Hi. I'm sorry to interrupt, if I am. May I have a moment with you?
Morgan: Yeah. Sure.
Chloe: [Exhales deeply] Oh, my God, Philip. How did we end up here? I'm so sorry for the way things turned out with us. I tried, though, didn't I? I'll always be your friend. And I'm trying to not be hurt or jealous, because I don't have the right to be, but... when I found out that you got shot protecting Morgan... I should have done everything I could to keep you from getting involved with her.
Ava: So, are you gonna tell me about this ace up your sleeve, or are you gonna keep me in suspense all day?
John: Will you look at this place? It looks like a crime scene.
Ava: John, I am being serious. We need to find a way to get the cops off of your trail.
John: Well, the first thing we're gonna do is bring Rolf in here to clean up all this blood. And then I've got something I want to show you -- something that will simply... take away all your fears.
Hope: Please, sit down. I know this is a very difficult time for you, but, uh, I need to ask a few more questions.
Morgan: Is this about the shooting?
Hope: No, it's about your dad -- about his disappearance. I want to go over the evidence just one more time.
Morgan: [Sighs] Look, I just don't think I can do that right now. I'm really worried about Philip.
Hope: It won't take long, I promise you. I'm trying to help find your father.
Morgan: I know.
Hope: Okay. Help me out here. Please, whatever you remember -- maybe something your father may have said to you before he left.
Morgan: The only thing I remember my Father saying is that he had to leave town because someone was threatening his life, or something close to that. Then he was gone.
Hope: But he left you that letter.
Morgan: The police found it in the suitcase.
Hope: Right. The suitcase that made it on the plan, but he didn't.
Morgan: Yeah. And in the letter, he talks about knowing who was after him and that he left me proof. But you know all of that.
Hope: It's important we go over it again.
Morgan: Okay. My sorority sister Slone had a receipt in her mailbox addressed to me for a package that I went and picked up at the post office. You were with me when I opened it.
Hope: There was cash in it and another letter. But what about the proof they wanted him dead?
Morgan: It wasn't in there.
Hope: See, that's what I don't understand. Morgan, bear with me, okay? I know I was there when you opened the package, but when you looked inside, did you see anything else? Did you really look carefully?
Morgan: No, I didn't see anything. Are you saying there was something else in there, something I didn't see?
Kate: That's all right. I don't want an apology from Daniel. I don't want anything from Daniel.
Chelsea: How could you treat her like that?
Daniel: Just doing my job.
Chelsea: Um, that's funny. What about the part of your job where you're supposed to be compassionate, considerate, and respectful to the patients and their families?
Daniel: My patients are my priority. Kate jeopardized Victor's health.
Chelsea: Yeah, I understand that, but all she wanted to do was tell him that his son had been shot -- Philip, who is also her son, in case you forgot that. She's worried about both of them.
Daniel: I warned her not to upset him. She chose not to listen. He had a cardiac arrest. Don't talk to me about compassion.
Chelsea: I've never seen you like this before.
Daniel: Once again, my patients are my priority.
Chelsea: Yeah, I get that. What I don't get is why that makes you incapable of being a decent human being -- to patients and their families. We're all worried about my grandfather, and we all want what's best for him. And all I really, really want is for you and my grandmother to at least be civil with one another, but apparently that's asking a little too much.
Victor: I'll have one of my men see to the blood supply for Philip.
Victor: Thank you for what you did.
Bo: I covered up evidence and gave it to you. I compromised my career and my ethics. Look what it got us.
Victor: What you did was in the best interests of the family.
Bo: Hope, my kids -- they're my family, too. I could lose everything because of what I did for you.
Ava: So, is, uh, this the ace up your sleeve that you were talking about?
John: It could be.
Ava: John, what's in there?
John: Why don't you open it and find out?
Victor: The evidence is gone. No one ever needs to know.
Bo: Now, here's the thing, Victor. I know. And Hope knows there's something going on, too.
Daniel: Time's up. I need to take Victor down for some tests.
Victor: Bo...I'm sorry.
Daniel: Well, what do you know? A visitor who didn't give you a cardiac episode. That's novel.
Victor: Dr. Jonas...
Victor: I know someone... who can give Philip blood.
Daniel: Well, I appreciate the offer, Victor, but we have got all the blood we need right here for him at the hospital. You know, though, I'm pleased that your last conversation with Bo didn't send you into a tizzy. Whatever is happening between you two -- you've got to knock it off and focus on getting well.
Victor: I have to see Philip.
Daniel: No. I'm sorry, Victor. That's not gonna happen.
Hope: I just got off the phone with the lab. Abe said the envelope had been gone through thoroughly and there was nothing there.
Morgan: Well, I'm sure if there was something there, I would have seen it.
Hope: I suppose. But, still, it just doesn't make any sense that the only things in there were cash and another letter. No proof.
Morgan: I'm sorry. Am I being paranoid, or are you saying I'm withholding something?
Hope: No, no. I'm sorry. Of course not. I'm just trying to be very thorough here.
Morgan: I understand. We've gone over it and over it again. I'm just too worried about Philip right now to focus on anything else. I'm sorry.
Chloe: I'll be praying for you, Philip, and I'll always be here for you.
Morgan: Chloe, I don't want to fight. I know you probably blame me for what happened --
Chloe: There's no one to blame but the man who pulled the trigger.
Morgan: So you're not gonna tear into me again?
Chloe: I want Philip to be happy, and if you can make him happy, then that's all that matters.
Ava: Oh, my God.
John: I figured he would be more useful to me like this. Hello, Paul. You remember Ava Vitali?
Paul: Oh, yeah. So, how about it there, huh? You bring your boys to rough me up again?
John: Paul, there's no reason to adopt that kind of attitude.
Paul: You know what? Don't tell me how to act. How much longer are you gonna keep me locked up here?
John: You should consider yourself lucky. You could be floating like a bloated rag doll in the Salem River right now.
Ava: Wait a minute. You have had him down here -- look at me -- you've had him down here the whole time?
John: It was one of several options.
Ava: Why didn't you tell me about it?
John: Because I wasn't sure I could trust you.
Ava: Oh, so letting me see him means you trust me now?
John: More than I did before, yes.
Paul: You know what? I hate to break up this beautiful moment, but when am I getting out of here?
John: Shut up. You will get out of here when I say you can.
Paul: John, I told you before, I need to see Morgan -- at least contact her, let her know I'm all right.
John: I'm afraid that's out of the question for now.
Paul: No, it's not out of the question. I need to see her... because right now all she has are those two cryptic notes, the second of which you forced me to write.
John: What is your point, Paul?
Paul: My point is that's all she has -- that and a tape of Philip threatening my life. So right now, my daughter thinks I'm dead, and that doesn't work for me.
John: No. But the tape -- I've been waiting a long time for that tape to surface, but it hasn't. It kind of makes me wonder -- what happened to the recording?
Bo: Hey, Fancy Face.
Hope: How you holding up?
Hope: How's Victor?
Bo: Uh, he's weak.
Hope: Was he able to speak?
Bo: Yeah, we talked for a little bit.
Hope: What does Daniel say?
Bo: Victor needs his rest.
Hope: And what about Philip? How's he doing?
Bo: He's still unconscious.
Hope: Oh, God. I'm praying for both of them.
Bo: Yeah, me too.
Hope: I, um, questioned Morgan again briefly. Of course, she didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.
Bo: What did you question her about?
Hope: About the package from her father. I'm wondering about its contents.
Bo: Oh. Why?
Hope: I don't know. Maybe I'm just spinning my wheels.
Bo: What do you mean?
Hope: Her father said in his first letter to her that he was gonna give her proof of who wanted him dead, except the only thing is, is that the only things in that package were money and another letter. There was no proof.
Bo: I know. I was there.
Hope: Okay. Let me finish. The thing is, is that after she read the letter, she was so visibly upset, of course. I took her home -- you remember? -- But you stayed.
Bo: Yeah, and Abe had the package sent down to the lab.
Hope: Yeah, I know. I know. I spoke to them. There was nothing in there. You see, there's a gap in the chain of evidence.
Bo: What are you talking about?
Hope: You were alone with that package before it went down to the lab, and I can't help wondering if you looked inside, after Morgan and I left, and found something. Oh, my God. There was something else in there, wasn't there?
Chloe: What's the matter, Morgan? You don't believe me?
Morgan: You've just always been so angry every time you saw Philip and me together.
Chloe: Well, if you are what's really right for Philip, then I'll support that.
Morgan: I don't know if I'm what's right for him. He deserves so much.
Chloe: I agree. Oh, and, Morgan... don't hurt him.
Morgan: I won't.
Chelsea: How could he treat you like that?
Kate: [Sighs] Can we not discuss this anymore?
Chelsea: I honestly don't know how you're not more upset about this. I mean, he's completely out of line.
Kate: Daniel puts his patients first.
Chelsea: So, what, that means he can't be civil to people that care about his patients? He could clearly see that you were upset, and he didn't even care about your feelings.
Kate: Chelsea, maybe you're blowing this a little out of proportion.
Chelsea: I don't think so. He was rude to you, and I don't like it.
Kate: Can we let this go? Please?
Daniel: Excuse me. I need to speak with you -- alone.
John: Just let me know as soon as it breaks. Thank you. My source at the police station has reviewed every piece of evidence in your missing-persons file. The tape hasn't surfaced yet.
Paul: Well, you know what? I did my part. You saw me put the tape in the envelope, and that tape was all we needed for Philip to take the fall on this.
John: Well, something isn't right.
Ava: The reason's obvious. Come on. Bo Brady is Philip's brother. He made the evidence disappear.
John: Yes. You're right.
Paul: Great. You know what? I just want to see my daughter right now.
John: You're not going anywhere.
Paul: John, I just want to let her know I'm alive.
John: Not until my plan has time to work itself out. You know, Paul, Philip can't be framed for your murder... if you're still breathing. So you might want to consider being a little more helpful.
Paul: Helpful? Buddy, I have been nothing but helpful. You know what? You tell me to write a letter, I write it. You want me to play dead, I die. You want me to stay locked up in this box for God knows how long, here I sit. And all I'm asking is one thing in return.
John: One thing that can upend my entire operation.
Paul: So what, John? What, I'm never gonna see my daughter again? Is that your plan?
John: In my observation, your daughter has fallen in love with Philip Kiriakis... and apparently he feels the same way about her.
Ava: Well, he took a bullet for her. That normally indicates --
Paul: What?! Hey! Hey! He took a bullet for her?
Ava: Yeah, he took a bullet for her. So now in your daughter's eyes, he's her hero.
Nicole: Hey, Chloe. I heard about Philip. Is he okay?
Chloe: Still unconscious.
Nicole: [Sighs] I need to sit down.
Chloe: Are you okay?
Nicole: I guess our problems seem pretty petty right now, huh?
Chloe: Yeah. [Chuckles]
Nicole: What's so funny?
Chloe: I was just thinking -- Philip would probably be so shocked he'd wake up if he saw us out here like this, being so civil to each other.
Nicole: Maybe we should go in there together -- huh? -- Send him some positive energy.
Chloe: Sure. Once Morgan gets the rest of her time in.
Nicole: Morgan? Is that -- is that the girl you told me about -- Paul Hollingsworth's daughter?
Chloe: Philip took the bullet for her, so now he's her hero, not to mention that she's in love with him. [Mid-tempo music plays]
You've got magic inside your fingertips it's leaking out all over my skin yeah every time that I get close to you you're making me weak with the way you look through those eyes but all I see is your face all I need is your touch wake me up with your lips come at me from up above yeah oh, I need you I remember the way that you move you're dancing easily through my dreams it's hitting me harder and harder with all your smiles you are crazy gentle in the way you kiss [Monitor beeping]
Morgan: Philip... can you hear me? Philip, wake up. Open your eyes.
Chelsea: Whatever you have to say to my Grandmother, you can say in front of me.
Daniel: I can't do that.
Kate: Let me talk to him, Chelsea.
Kate: That was quite a scene earlier. I thought for a minute that you might have me escorted out of the hospital.
Daniel: I'm sorry. I-I don't know what got into me. I'm usually better at keeping my-- myself in check. I guess I'm just, uh --
Kate: Serious about saving lives. No worries. I get it.
Daniel: Thank you.
Kate: I shouldn't have said anything to Victor, especially after you warned us. It's just that, um, I was afraid that someone would say something to him, so...
Daniel: I will fight like hell to save him, Kate. Your son, too.
Kate: You're a good man, and I know you're doing your best, but I know you're under a lot of strain, and it's not just because of Victor and Philip. It's because of our relationship and your feelings for Chelsea.
Daniel: That is no reason to go tearing into you.
Kate: But you're a passionate man...with a kind heart... which is what drew me to you in the first place... and which is why I...
Kate: Never mind.
Ava: Good to see you again... Paul.
Paul: All right, John. Who took a shot at Morgan?
John: Your daughter burst into my mansion and started accusing me of all kinds of nasty things. And Eddie -- he's one of Ava's guys --
Paul: Yeah, I remember.
John: I'm sure you do. Well, he got a little out of control and tried to shoot your daughter, but Philip stepped between them and... basically saved her life.
Paul: He tried to -- what in the hell was that moron doing firing a gun at my daughter, huh?!
John: Your daughter threatened my life. Then she went for her purse, and Eddie mistook her going for a piece.
Paul: He thought Morgan had a gun in her purse? What, is he just stupid, or is he crazy, as well?
John: Well, we're still trying to figure that out.
Paul: You know what? Don't. This is not funny.
John: Do you see my laughing?
Paul: Damn it, John. I got to get out of here. I got to set Morgan straight on this punk Kiriakis. Some hero. You wait till she finds out that he's the one who had me plant the drugs on your ship. He's the one who drove me to set that fire to your warehouse.
John: Patience, Paul. This game has several more moves, and when it's finished, your daughter will have nothing to do with Philip Kiriakis.
And all I see is your face all I need is your touch wake me up with your lips come at me from up above all I see is your face all I need is your touch wake me up with your lips come at me from up above yeah oh, oh da-da-da-da-da-do-do do-do-do-do do-do-do-do do-do-do-do all I see is your face all I see is your face all I see is your face do-do-do do-do-do-do do-do-do-do
Nicole: It's ironic, isn't it? When you -- when we realize how precious someone is to us, when we think we're about to lose them.
Chloe: He's gonna make it. He has to.
Nicole: And when he does... do you think that you and he have --
Chloe: No. It was never meant to be for us. [Exhales deeply] [Chuckles] I can't believe we're talking like this.
Nicole: I know. It sounds hokey, but I think it's called "becoming friends."
Chloe: Whoa. Let's not get too crazy.
Nicole: You're right. What was I thinking?
Chelsea: Where's my grandfather?
Daniel: Uh, he's, uh, having a cat scan and an M.R.I.
Chelsea: Oh. I thought...
Daniel: He's fine. Uh, you know, about what happened earlier -- the way I was talking to Kate, um, you know, sometimes I just -- I just let it fly.
Chelsea: It just seemed like you were almost trying to hurt her.
Daniel: No, no, no. No, that's not it at all. I'm just -- I was worried about Victor, and I lost it. I mean, that happens to me, but the storm has passed. And Kate -- well, she understands, and it's all good now.
Chelsea: Good. She's a, um, a very forgiving lady.
Daniel: Yeah. She is. But are you?
Chelsea: You know, I think that everyone's just stressed, and it's kind of like a hard time. My grandpa's really, really lucky to have you in his life. And so am I.
John: You betrayed me, Paul Hollingsworth. And for that, I will be eternally disappointed.
Paul: Oh, come on, John. We've been over this 100 times. It was a lapse in judgment.
John: It wasn't a lapse, Paul. It was insanity. It was reckless and destructive.
Paul: And like I have told you 100 times before, whatever you need me to do to make it right, I'll do.
John: Of course you will. That's why you're here.
Paul: John, please.
John: You are my guest, Paul, and you will remain here until I say so.
Paul: John, we are talking about my daughter.
John: You know, you should have thought about your daughter before you became Philip's mole, before you let greed cloud your judgment while it fattened your wallet.
Paul: So what, huh? What? What, are you gonna keep me here forever, locked up, to rot? Is that your big plan?
John: You thought you were gonna die on that pier, you sniveling son of a bitch. You're damn lucky you didn't. You're damn lucky my men followed them. You're damn lucky my men fished you out of the water. So you should be grateful, Paul. I gave you a second shot at life.
Paul: And I'm eternally grateful.
John: Yes. You are. So shut up... and do what I tell you. Understand?
Chloe: Morgan's certainly taking her time. How about it? Are you gonna go in there?
Nicole: I don't think I can stand it, not without a shot or something.
Chloe: Oh, hey, excuse me. We're friends of Philip Kiriakis. Do you know if there's any change in his condition?
Doctor: He's not my patient. I've been assigned to his brother's case.
Chloe: His brother?
Doctor: Lucas Roberts. He's just been admitted.
Bo: Okay. Thanks.
Hope: You still haven't answered my question.
Bo: I've been thinking.
Hope: Thinking? Wouldn't you remember if there was something else in that package, Brady?
Bo: There wasn't.
Hope: You're sure about that?
Bo: Yeah. I got to get to the hospital.
Joe: Detective Brady...
Hope: Yeah, what is it, Joe?
Joe: I figured this was pretty urgent. It's an anonymous e-mail that was sent to the station. Obviously it's about your investigation.
Hope: Thank you so much, Joe.
Bo: What does it say?
Hope: "What happened to the evidence in the Paul Hollingsworth case... looks like a police cover-up. What do you think?"
Sami: This has been great. I hope that we can find a way to get along and be friends.
Roman: I had my doubts about you doing this.
Lucas: I don't have to go back to prison, right?
Nicole: I don't think you'll be happy with him, not as long as Sami's in the picture. If I were you, I would turn around and walk away.
