[Monitor beeping]

Chelsea: Hey, Grandpa. Well... I was gonna bring you flowers, but the nurse outside said that I couldn't since you're still in I.C.U. You think that I would know that since I work here, but... I didn't. So, Daniel says that you're getting better. That's good. But he also said that it's important that we keep you calm and not upset, which is kind of why I'm here. I noticed that there was some tension between you and Dad, and he won't tell me, and there's a good chance that you might not tell me what it is, either.

Daniel: Chelsea! What do you think you're doing?

Bo: You sure you don't mind pulling an extra shift tonight?

Hope: Nope. Not at all. It's awfully sweet of your mom to come back and watch Ciara. [Typing]

Bo: Still mad at me, huh?

Hope: Not mad. Frustrated...upset... disappointed.

Bo: It's not that I don't trust you, Fancy Face.

Hope: If you trusted me, you would tell me what you know about Paul Hollingsworth's disappearance.

Bo: I don't know -- all I have are theories.

Hope: Yeah, theories that you don't want to share with me.

Bo: Well I could be wrong.

Hope: You're almost never wrong.

Bo: This time I hope I am.

Hope: Brady, just tell me what you know. [Telephone rings]

Bo: All right. Brady. I'm on my way. Philip was shot at the DiMera mansion. Come on.

Paramedic: Blood pressure's down to 80/40, and his heart rate's up to 124 and climbing. I got to get this I.V. started.

Morgan: How could you do this?!

Ava: What happened? What's going on?

Morgan: Your guy here just shot Philip Kiriakis.

Ava: Eddie?

Eddie: It was that girl. She was acting crazy. She was screaming at Mr. Black. She reached into her purse, and I-I thought she had a gun.

Kate: Oh, my God! No! [Inhales sharply] [Crying] Philip.

Morgan: It's all my fault. He was trying to protect me.

Kate: My God. Philip.

Kate: [Crying] Why were you trying to protect her? From what?

Roman: Eddie was about to shoot her.

Eddie: I told you -- I thought she was going for a gun.

Ava: Stop talking, Eddie.

Bo: Roman! How's he doing?

Roman: Alive. Stomach wound, though.

Bo: Hang in there, bro. You hang in there. Come on. Let's get him to the hospital. Keep that pressure on there. Let's go.

Roman: Hope, take care of Morgan, please.

Morgan: No! I'm going with him!

Hope: There's nothing you can do right now. Just come with me, okay?

Morgan: He saved my life.

Hope: We'll check on him, but right now we need to get you out of here. Come on.

Roman: All right, Eddie, have a seat. John, I need to know everything that happened here. It would benefit you to get rid of Philip, so you could have set this whole thing up.

Daniel: You're not supposed to be in there, much less doing what you're doing.

Chelsea: Daniel, I was just talking to him.

Daniel: You were doing exactly what I told you not to do.

Chelsea: Look, if there's something going on between my Dad and my Grandfather, I just think --

Daniel: No, if there is, it's none of your business, and you knowing whatever it might be is not gonna help resolve it.

Chelsea: Well, you don't know that.

Daniel: Actually, I do. And by pushing Victor so his heart rate and blood pressure start to spike puts him at risk for yet another stroke.

Chelsea: Well, that's not what I want.

Daniel: No, neither do I. And we are just guessing that there's some big problem between Bo and Victor.

Chelsea: You told me that every time my Dad goes in to see my grandfather, he gets upset and worked up.

Daniel: Yes, which is why I'm keeping everyone out of there -- barring all visitors, including you.

Chelsea: I'm just trying to help.

Daniel: I know you are, and I know you love your father and your granddad.

Chelsea: Do you know that I would never intentionally hurt them?

Daniel: Yes, I know that, and they do, too, but there is another reason that I do not want you getting involved in whatever this might be.

Chelsea: What?

Daniel: We both know there's a lot of tension with Victor, Philip, and John -- that whole thing that's happening down at the docks. But your friend's father has gone missing.

Chelsea: So, what, you think my Grandfather's hiding something and that's what caused him all the stress?

Daniel: Look, all I know is that Victor's world can be a dangerous place, and I'd rather you not get involved in it.

Chelsea: He's my family, Daniel.

Daniel: Look, I am just trying to keep you safe, Chelsea. That's all.

Chelsea: So you're forbidding me to see my Grandfather?

Daniel: Yeah, I am.

Chelsea: You know what? I'm not so sure I like you ordering me around.

Daniel: Well, I'm not so sure I like you arguing with me, and I certainly don't like you ignoring what I tell you. [Pager ringing]

Daniel: I got to get to the O.R. You stay out of there, Chelsea. You stay away from Victor.

E.J.: Exactly what everybody else said. She comes in. She's hysterical. She starts screaming these accusations about John murdering her father.

John: The poor kid is simply in denial that her old man is a dirt bag.

Roman: Well, all I can say is I wouldn't put it past the new John Black we've come to know to have set this whole thing up.

John: All right. I whipped Paul's daughter up into a murderous frenzy, knowing full well that Eddie here would take her out just as Philip would show up, dive between them, and take a bullet.

E.J.: Okay, John. Thank you. It's a little bit of a coincidence. Let's just say that.

Roman: All right, E.J., tell me. Did it really look like Morgan was going for a gun?

E.J.: Absolutely. Yes.

Roman: And your man Eddie is here because...

Ava: Because he came here to discuss my case, to see if he could help me out.

Roman: What, to take out the guy who flipped on you about ordering your men to sabotage the plane?

E.J.: Roman, please, all right? She was not even here. She had nothing to do with the shooting.

John: Let me summarize and maybe could put an end to this. Morgan burst into my house, accusing me of killing Paul. Then she threatened my life. She reached into her purse. Eddie mistook her going for a gun. He drew, and Philip jumped between them and took the bullet. End of story.

Roman: Morgan wasn't armed.

John: How did any of us have a way of knowing that?

E.J.: Roman, she was acting out of her mind.

Roman: Of course she was. She thinks her dad is dead and that John killed him -- or had him killed.

John: There's no evidence that Paul is dead, is there?

Roman: No, but that doesn't mean he isn't.

John: Perhaps. But what it does mean is you have proof of nothing, and neither does that girl.

Roman: No, but she does know he's missing. And the big question is, John, did you have anything to do with it?

E.J.: Don't... answer that.

Roman: Well, John?

John: My lawyer has advised me to stay quiet.

Roman: E.J. So you and John have gotten tight, right?

E.J.: Roman, he's my client, I'm his lawyer, and you already know that.

Roman: What I do know is that DiMera's always look out after their own.

John: Elvis John is my nephew. I appreciate his counsel.

E.J.: John, that's, uh, that's all you need to say, okay?

John: Question -- what kind of case would I have if I pressed charges against Hollingsworth's daughter for breaking and entering, verbal abuse, and harassment?

E.J.: I would imagine you'd have quite a compelling case.

John: Perhaps we should push forward on that, unless, of course, Roman, you don't want that kid to go through this and you decide that what happened tonight is just one big, unfortunate accident.

Roman: We'll see, John. Eddie, you need to come with me.

Ava: Are you arresting him?

Roman: No, but I do need to get a statement and make sure his weapons permits are in order.

Eddie: They are. I make sure of that.

Roman: Well, I'll bet you do, but let's take a look, anyway.

Ava: Eddie, you want us to go with you?

Eddie: No. I'll call Sal if I need to.

Ava: Okay.

Roman: Let's go. Officer.

Officer: Come on.

John: Eddie... thank you. Hmm. Nice work, kid. Drink?

Ava: Well, I could definitely use one. Thank you.

John: Elvis?

E.J.: No... thank you. You know, John, if I'm gonna go and fight for you, I have to know what it is I'm fighting. You're gonna have to tell me everything.

Hope: Take a seat right here.

Morgan: I need to know about Philip.

Hope: He's being admitted right now. The officer who went to the hospital with him will call if there's any news.

Morgan: This is all my fault.

Hope: Here, take a sip of water.

Morgan: You know, I never meant for any of this to happen.

Hope: No, of course, you didn't. Morgan, you realize it was a mistake to confront John?

Morgan: I had to do something. I mean, I need to know where my father is.

Hope: We're trying to find out -- I promise you we are.

Morgan: But you haven't, okay? And now that they found his jacket in the river --

Hope: That doesn't prove anything. That jacket could have been planted.

Morgan: Who would do that?

Hope: Anyone who would want us to think he might be dead.

Morgan: John Black is the only man that wants my father dead.

Bo: We don't know that for sure.

Hope: And there's also still the possibility... that he arranged his own disappearance.

Morgan: By leaving his luggage on the plane and throwing his own jacket and wallet in the river?

Hope: If he wanted us to stop looking for him -- absolutely.

Bo: Or if he wanted the people who were after him to think he was dead.

Morgan: My father cannot be dead. He just cannot be.

Hope: You just have to keep praying he isn't.

Morgan: He's a good man. I mean, he's just made some mistakes -- the biggest one of which was ever getting involved with John Black. I wish I had a gun, because if I did, I would have killed him myself.

Hope: You don't mean that.

Morgan: Oh, the hell I don't.

Bo: Morgan, for your own good...don't say anything else.

Morgan: My father's dead, and John killed him.

Bo: What the hell?

Philip: Damn it, Paul. Do what I tell you, or I will kill you.

Hope: Morgan, I know you believe that John's responsible for whatever happened to your father, but there's no proof, and we can't just assume there aren't any other suspects.

Morgan: My father used to tell me stories of the guys he would meet at customs and the strange and unbelievably illegal things they'd try to smuggle in.

Hope: Did he ever mention anyone more than once?

Morgan: No, and it wasn't like he was frightened by anybody. He actually thought they were kind of funny. He used to sit down to dinner and say, "honey, you'd never believe who I met at work today." Stuff like that.

Hope: So, there was no one else he seemed threatened by, other than John? Morgan, what is it? If you know something, tell us. It could be important... even if you don't think so.

Morgan: There was this one guy that he kept telling me to stay away from.

Hope: Who was that?

Morgan: It's just weird because he's -- he's -- he's not dangerous.

Hope: Morgan, who is it?

Morgan: It's Philip.

Kate: Why haven't they told us something?

Chelsea: If it was bad news, I think we would have heard something.

Kate: If Philip doesn't make it, the news is gonna kill his father.

Chelsea: Let's just not panic until we hear what the doctors say, okay?

Kate: [Exhales deeply]

Chelsea: And you still don't know exactly what happened?

Kate: No. No. Except that one of Ava's men tried to shoot Morgan, and Philip got in between them, and he took the shot instead.

Chelsea: What was Morgan doing at the DiMera mansion, and why would anyone want to shoot her?

Kate: I have no idea, except I know it has something to do with John and Paul's disappearance. How is he?

Daniel: Philip's in recovery.

Kate: Thank God. How badly was he hurt?

Daniel: The shell ruptured his abdominal aorta.

Kate: That's serious, isn't it?

Daniel: Well, it could be, but fortunately it was a jacketed shell, so the wound was clean. We stopped the bleeding, repaired the damage, but he, uh, he lost a lot of blood.

Kate: Did you give him a transfusion?

Daniel: Well, we couldn't do that. Philip's type is relatively rare, and the blood bank here is, uh, well, let's just say, uh, they're out of it.

Kate: Okay. Well, I'll donate it if I'm compatible.

Daniel: You can't. I checked, and you're not.

Chelsea: Okay, well, what -- what about Victor? I mean, he couldn't because of his condition, obviously.

Daniel: Right. He's weak, and he's been given drugs, both of which prevent him from being a viable donor.

Kate: Okay, so, what do we do next, then?

Daniel: We don't panic. That's what we do. Okay? Just stay calm. His blood type is uncommon, but it's not what we would call rare. We're checking around at other hospitals, other blood banks, and then we'll branch out to nearby States, but we will find what we need.

Kate: And if you don't?

Daniel: Kate, don't do this. Chelsea, would you, uh, get Kate some water, please?

Chelsea: Yeah. I'll be right back.

Kate: This is just all getting to be too much. Lucas is in jail. Victor's stroke. And Philip shot, and --

Daniel: Hey, hey. Shh! Shh!

E.J.: John, generally speaking, lawyers -- we don't want to know if our client's innocent or guilty. But on some occasions, let me tell you, being forewarned is being forearmed, and I'm not a big fan of surprises.

John: Well, that's good, because there won't be any. As I told the Salem Police Department, Blondie, and now you for the second time, I didn't import drugs into this country, I didn't torch a warehouse full of my impounded goods, and I didn't kill Paul Hollingsworth. Now, do you have any other questions?

E.J.: Yeah. I just want to know if all that's true.

John: Yeah. All that's true.

E.J.: Okay.

Ava: Look, I believe you, John. I just wish there was some way that we could get that poor girl to believe us, too.

E.J.: [Scoffs] You almost sound like you're sorry for her.

Ava: Well, I am. Look, she's terrified that her father might be dead. She loves him. I know what she's going through. I've been there myself.

E.J.: You have no idea what she's going through. She doesn't have half the strength and resolve that you have.

Ava: Oh, let's hope she does. This isn't about me. It's not about Morgan. This is about John and how this is all gonna play out.

John: I'll be fine.

E.J.: He's right. I'm sorry. You have plenty to worry about with your own legal affairs at the moment, without worrying about this.

Ava: Well, that's why I have you to take care of everything.

E.J.: Nonetheless, the further out of this situation you are, the better, okay?

John: I agree. Just concentrate on her.

E.J.: You're not exactly in the clear yourself, John. This little dog and pony show that Morgan just put on has shined a rather uncomfortable spotlight on your role in Paul Hollingsworth's disappearance.

John: Well, then you will just shine that spotlight on somebody else. I mean, that is what I pay you for, right? [Cellphone ringing]

E.J.: Right. Excuse me. D.A.'s office.

John: Ah.

E.J.: E.J. DiMera.

John: Good news, I hope. I'll leave you two to talk.

E.J.: Um, yeah. No, number's exactly the same. Great. They're sending over a fax. There's been some development in your case.

E.J.: So, essentially, this just confirms what we had asked for last week.

Ava: That's good.

E.J.: It is.

Ava: Oh.

E.J.: Easy.

John: [Chuckles] Good news, I hope.

E.J.: Um, we think so. Yes. See if you agree.

John: "Your request for extradition by the Irish government has been denied." Yes, this is very good news.

E.J.: Uh, well, what's even better is if you look, you'll see the change of venue has been approved.

Ava: Yes. The case is going to be tried right here in Salem.

John: This calls for a celebration.

E.J.: I think it does.

Ava: Yes.

John: I'll have Rolf bring in some champagne and caviar. We'll clean the blood up later.

Ava: [Chuckles]

E.J.: Great.

John: I'm so happy for you.

Ava: Yeah, well, I guess it's all thanks to E.J.

E.J.: Actually, a lot of it's thanks to John.

John: I did nothing.

E.J.: Um, I wouldn't be so sure about that, if you -- if you read the last paragraph.

John: "Judge Karen Fitzpatrick will be assigned as the presiding judge."

Ava: Oh, you know her?

John: Well, let's just say that Karen and I go way back.

E.J.: Yeah.

John: You'll be in very good hands.

Bo: Philip's in recovery. He's weak, but the prognosis is good.

Morgan: Oh, thank God. I need to see him.

Bo: No one can see him till he's been taken to a room.

Hope: And you still need to give your formal statement and answer a few more questions.

Morgan: If I can.

Hope: Did your father ever give you any specific reason why he wanted you to stay away from Philip?

Morgan: Um, no. Just that he didn't trust him and he didn't want me around someone like that.

Bo: So he never told you exactly why?

Morgan: No. I just figured that he didn't want me dating Philip because he has somewhat of a reputation, you know? He was just watching out for me.

Hope: Clearly, it was more than that.

Morgan: Well, obviously, my Father was wrong. Philip almost died today. He took a bullet for me. He's a good man. What other proof do people need?

Hope: So there wasn't any specific reason, anything your father said about him?

Morgan: No. And as far as I'm concerned, he was down on Philip because John Black wanted him to be. If you don't mind, I'd like to give my statement now and go.

Bo: Okay. We'll give you a ride home.

Morgan: No. I'm gonna go to the hospital. So if it's okay, I'm gonna make a phone call for a ride.

Hope: Sure. That's fine.

Morgan: Thanks. [Cellphone rings]

Chelsea: Morgan, hey. I'm at the hospital.

Morgan: Oh, thank God. Is it true? Is Philip gonna be okay?

Chelsea: That's what Daniel said.

Morgan: I need to see him.

Chelsea: Oh, um, you know, I'm not so sure that his mom's gonna want you here.

Morgan: I don't care. Look, I'm at the police station. Can you come and get me?

Chelsea: Yeah, I'll be there in a little bit.

Morgan: Thanks. I'm ready to make my statement now.

Hope: Oh. Please, follow me. Here you go. Just take a seat right here and write down everything that happened as you best remember it, okay? I'll be right back. This case is really eating you up. You want to tell me why?

Bo: I can't.

Hope: You mean "won't."

Bo: Same thing.

Hope: Either you tell me what's going on, or I'm going to Abe and telling him you're withholding information.

Kate: I think we both know what needs to be done with this. I'll burn it... for Philip.

Victor: Philip.

Kate: I would very much like to go in and sit with Victor. Could I?

Daniel: You know he can't have visitors.

Kate: Yes. I do. But, um, I really need to be with him, Daniel. Our son almost died today.

Daniel: All right. All right. I'll check on Philip.

Kate: Thanks. [Monitor beeping] Victor. [Sighs] I wish you hadn't given Philip so much responsibility at Titan. [Inhales, exhales deeply] I know you thought he was ready, or you would never have done it... but he is our son... and he loves you so much. He wanted to make you so proud. That's why he got involved in this -- this shipping war with John -- this ugly business with Hollingsworth. [Beeping quickens] I know you did your best. He did his best... too, but... Victor, this business was extremely dangerous, and... something terrible has happened. [Beeping quickens] And I want to tell you. [Sniffles]

Victor: What happened?

Kate: [Inhales, exhales deeply] Philip was trying to protect... Paul's daughter... and one of Ava Vitali's men... shot him. [Rapid beeping] Victor? My God. Victor? Victor! Someone! Someone, help me! Please! Help! Help me!

John: Almost 1,000 buckskins for unfertilized fish eggs and fermented wine. Worth every penny. Elvis, you sure you won't join us?

E.J.: Yeah. Thanks. Um, actually, I have some work to do -- on your case, believe it or not.

John: Just don't be too presumptuous about Judge Fitzpatrick.

E.J.: John, this isn't the first time I've done this, okay? I know how to play the game.

Ava: "Game." Uh, what is it that you two know that I don't?

John: Well, let's just say that we know about the Judge's reputation for fairness.

E.J.: Yeah. I don't think we could have a better judge if we... picked her ourselves. Anyway, on that note, I will leave you. Enjoy. Enjoy.

Ava: Mm-hmm. Thank you.

John: Thank you. To a fast and fair decision.

Ava: Okay. I'll drink to that. And... I want to make another toast.

John: And what would that be?

Ava: To you. Come on. You think I didn't see the looks between you? I know something's going on with that judge.

John: I don't know what you're talking about.

Ava: Mm. Okay. All right. If that's how you want to play.

John: It is. The less you know, the better.

Ava: That's what my Daddy used to always say.

John: He's a wise man.

Ava: Sometimes. [Chuckles] All right. I'm not gonna ask 'cause I know you're not gonna tell me, anyway.

John: Fair enough.

Ava: Hey, but, John...

John: Yeah?

Ava: I still want to thank you.

[Rapid beeping]

Nurse: Mr. Kiriakis?

Daniel: Get out. Get out.

No pulse.

Daniel: All right. He's defib. 200 joules. Clear?

Nurse: No response.

Daniel: Again. Clear?

Bo: You're not going to Abe and telling him anything.

Hope: Then you admit there is something.

Bo: Yeah. I hate that this case is getting violent. Paul's disappeared, Philip's been shot.

Hope: He's your brother. That's why you can't stay objective. And if you can't do that, you're no use to the investigation.

Bo: I'm not getting off of this ca-- I wish you would stop pushing and trust that I know what I'm doing. I want this thing solved as much as anyone.

Hope: Just talk to me.

Bo: I've told you everything I can, and you won't accept it.

Hope: [Sighs]

Kate: Is he gonna be okay?

Daniel: We got him back. What went on in there?

Kate: We were talking, and the monitors just started to go crazy.

Daniel: Just like that, without provocation?

Kate: I was talking to him.

Daniel: Something happened that set him off, Kate.

Kate: So, are you sure that he's gonna be okay?

Daniel: No, I'm not sure. How much trauma do you think his system can tolerate?

Kate: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Daniel: No. I'm sorry. I -- what the hell is wrong with me? I never should have even let you in there.

Kate: It's not your fault. Daniel, it's not your fault.

Daniel: No. I am his doctor! His life is in my hands! And from now on, don't even ask me about going in there until I tell you it's okay.

Kate: I promise. [Sniffles] So, how's Philip?

Daniel: He's stable. Recovering. Still unconscious.

Kate: And the blood transfusion?

Daniel: We tapped into a donor at City Hospital. It should be here shortly.

Kate: And if it's not enough?

Daniel: I will find a way to get it. I am not gonna lose them, Kate. Not Victor and not your son.

[Monitor beeping]

Daniel: Hang in there, man. No way. Unh-unh. Outside -- now.

Bo: I need to see Victor.

Daniel: The last time you were with him, you damn near killed him. He just had another episode because of Kate. No more visitors -- period.

Bo: They won't let me see Philip, either.

Daniel: Not until he's been transfused and brought up from recovery.

Bo: Why didn't they give him blood during the operation?

Daniel: Uncommon blood type. We had to go outside the hospital.

Bo: Well, you could have called me.

Daniel: You're not a match. We already checked your records. We checked everyone in his family.

Bo: He's gonna be okay, though, right?

Daniel: Yeah.

Bo: Good. And -- and Victor? He's gonna make it?

Ava: So, um, you and Judge Fitzpatrick -- you go way back, huh?

John: Well, so I've been told. But E.J. knew her, and from what I surmise, his old man, Stefano -- he knew her, as well.

Ava: Hmm. So she's been dirty a long time?

John: I didn't say that. But I will admit that she knows how to properly thank someone for a very...generous campaign contribution.

Ava: [Laughs]

John: What, you find that funny?

Ava: I find you funny. And I-I think you really know how to help your friends.

John: Well, I consider us more than friends, Ava.

Ava: Oh. So do I. Oh, and I just -- I just wish there was some way that I can show you how much I appreciate what you did.

John: Oh, that's not necessary.

Ava: Oh, come on. Now, don't be so hasty. I can be very, very appreciative.

John: Oh, I know you can.

Bo: I need to talk to Philip as soon as I can.

Daniel: Is there something you want to tell me?

Bo: No. I just need to know why he was at the mansion and how he wound up getting shot.

Kate: Well, John's the one you should be questioning, because he's been wreaking havoc on Victor's business and Philip's life. He's the one who's responsible for all of this.

Chelsea: Daniel also told me what happened when you went in there last time, so let's just calm down, everybody, okay? How is he?

Daniel: Well, I'm not gonna lie to you. This last episode set Victor back quite a bit. And Philip's wound, while not fatal, did some extensive damage. They are gonna be in for a long night.

Kate: We all are. I'm gonna stay here until I know that both of them are all right.

Chelsea: I'll stay with you.

Kate: Thanks.

Hope: Hey.

Bo: Hey.

Hope: Hi. I thought you'd be here.

Bo: Yeah. The doctor said that Victor and Philip are in for a long ride, but they're gonna be okay.

Hope: Oh, thank God. That's good.

Bo: Yeah.

Hope: Bo, listen --

Bo: Hope, let's not get into it.

Hope: All I was gonna say is that I'm sorry if I pushed you too hard earlier. And I want you to know that whatever it is, I am on your side -- always. I just want to help.

Bo: Thanks. I appreciate that, but, um... I got to do this on my own.

Philip: Look, Bo, I know we grew up differently... with different sets of parents.

Bo: Yeah. It was more than parents. We had a whole different set of values.

Philip: Yeah. Yeah, we did. But that's because I grew up with our Father and you grew up with Shawn. He was a great man, Bo. And so are you. [Monitor beeping]

Bo: I'm sorry, bro. Sorry I didn't believe you. Sorry I was so rough on you these last few days. I... I was scared that you had done something that couldn't be undone. But you took a bullet. Hell, John Black might as well have shot you himself. You hang in there. You get your strength back. I'll take care of this.

Morgan: I'll come back.

Bo: No. No. Come on in.

Morgan: How is he?

Bo: He's still unconscious.

Morgan: I won't be long.

Bo: Okay.

Morgan: You saved my life, Philip. You didn't even think twice about jumping in front of that gun. I don't know what to say except... thank you. And I know that's not enough. Maybe...when you're better and you get out of here... I can make it up to you. I can show you how much you mean to me. You saved my life, Philip. And I love you for that.

Ava: Mm. Good?

John: Mm-hmm.

Ava: [Chuckles] Mm. Oh. A spill. [Smooching]

John: If you keep it up, you're just gonna have to thank me again.

Ava: Well, I give great thanks.

John: Oh, that you do.

Ava: What? What are you doing? Don't stop.

John: Sorry.

Ava: What's wrong?

John: Nothing.

Ava: That's not true, but... I won't ask if you don't want to talk about it.

John: Hollingsworth's daughter.

Ava: What?

John: She lost control. I honestly believe if she had a weapon, she would have tried to kill me.

Ava: Okay. Well, she didn't. She's upset, right? She's worried about her father, thinks he's dead, thinks you're responsible.

John: She's got a lot of backbone -- coming in here, confronting me like that.

Ava: Yeah, so she's, uh, got a lot of backbone. Good for her.

John: That's what bothers me.

Ava: What?

John: If she could do that without...knowing anything... think what she would do if... she knew what really happened to her father.

Nicole: I want to be clear about my feelings for you.

E.J.: 'Cause you haven't been clear about very much else.

Stephanie: I bet you have a lot of questions for her.

Max: Tons.

Stephanie: I want to know what she thinks about her dad.

Trent: I didn't mean to be rude.

Marlena: Well, you were.

Trent: Who died and made you the authority on coffeehouse etiquette?
