Roman: Okay. Your transport documents have all been signed. This is it, Lucas. You're on your way to maximum security. Not too late to change your mind.

Lucas: No, we made a deal.

Roman: Okay. Officer, I need to make a phone call, but I do want to escort this prisoner to transport.

Officer: Yes, sir.

Chloe: Lucas.

Lucas: Hey. Like my outfit? How's this orange?

Chloe: No, I don't.

Lucas: You shouldn't be here.

Chloe: I had to come. I needed to tell you how sorry I am.

Caroline: Well. . . I think everything is ready. . . for my little grandson. I'm so happy he's coming home. What's that that you're setting up?

Nurse: An apnea monitor.

Caroline: 'An apnea monitor'? What does it do?

Nurse: It monitors the baby's heartbeat and breathing.

Caroline: Oh. Does my little grandson need that?

Nurse: Only as a precaution. It's quite normal for a preemie to use one for the first few months they're at home.

Caroline: Oh. Oh, let me get that. It's you. Come in.

Maggie: Are they here yet?

Caroline: No, no, but they'll be here any minute. Oh, my goodness. You look as if you bought out the entire grocery store.

Maggie: I guess I did You know, I realize I have enough food here to feed an army. Oh, my goodness gracious. And Alice sent over a batch of doughnuts. She thought that Kayla would need the energy after all those late-night feedings.

Caroline: I'm sure she will.

Kayla: Well. . . here we are -- home at last. Oh, look at the balloons.

Steve: Who put those up there?

Kayla: I don't know. How sweet.

Steve: Hey, big boy, crib sweet crib. You're gonna love it.

Kayla: You know, we've waited for this day for a long time. I really can't believe it's finally happening.

Steve: I can't, either. So, are you ready?

Kayla: Yeah. Oh.

Maggie: We thought we heard you out here. Oh.

Caroline: Welcome home, Joe.

Steve: Thank you.

Sami: Mom? Mom, hi.

Marlena: Oh, my goodness, Sami, honey bunny, what's the matter?

Sami: Everything.

Marlena: Well, you'll have to be a little more specific for me.

Sami: Mom, Lucas is being sent to maximum-security prison today.

Marlena: 'Maximum security'? That doesn't make any sense at all.

Sami: I know. Mom, do you realize how many dangerous people are in that prison, that -- that anything could happen to him? I mean, he could really be hurt.

Marlena: Sami, did your father say why he was going to maximum security?

Sami: No.

Marlena: Well, okay. I'll, um -- I'll talk to him for you.

Sami: Thank you.

Marlena: Okay, what else is going on?

Sami: Well, I just found out that the guy who's subletting my apartment is moving out.

Marlena: Well, without any notice to you?

Sami: Exactly. Can you believe it?

Marlena: I'm sure it happens all the time. You know what? You could move back in. You don't need to stay here now that this whole immigration thing has been sorted out.

Sami: I would love to move back into my apartment, Mom. I can't.

Marlena: Well, sweetheart, why not?

Sami: Well, because --

John: Because she will lose custody of Johnny if she does.

Ava: So, is the apartment still available? Ah, that's great. Yeah, I'd love to come by and see it. Um, I don't know, how's 2:30? Great! Yes, my name is Ava Vitali. Uh-uh! Hello? I don't believe this.

Pete: More coffee?

Ava: Uh, yeah, thanks, Pete.

Pete: So, did you have any luck finding a place?

Ava: No. No, I'm having no luck, so it looks like I'm gonna be living in a hotel for a long time.

Pete: I thought it said in the papers that you had an estate just outside of Brookfield?

Ava: Yes, we do. It's just part of the investigation into my father's business, so I don't need to be anywhere near there.

Pete: All right. So why don't you just buy something?

Ava: Because my murder trial is coming up, and I'd like to believe if I bought something, I'd actually be around to live in it.

Pete: Well, I'm sure you'll find something.

Ava: Yeah.

Sami: E.J. got the judge to sign a court order forbidding from taking Johnny out of the house.

Marlena: What judge would do such a thing?

Sami: He's a DiMera, remember?

Marlena: Do you know something about this?

John: No. And before you ask, there's really nothing I can do. Because there really is no evidence that my nephew has done what Samantha accused him of doing.

Sami: Oh, please. He bribed the judge, or he threatened him or blackmailed him or something.

John: Really doesn't matter, does it?

Marlena: Why would he do such a thing?

Sami: Because he has this demented idea that the three of us need to be a family together, even though that is never going to happen.

John: Perhaps you're being a little unreasonable.

Sami: I'm being unreasonable? He is the one that is using our child to blackmail me into staying here.

John: Well, that's one way of looking at it.

Sami: It's the truth.

John: Or you could say that he's exercising his right to stay involved in his son's life.

Sami: I never said he couldn't.

John: But that would prove more difficult if you lived somewhere else, right?

Sami: All right, I'm not gonna argue with you about this. Obviously it's clear whose side you're on.

John: Believe it or not. . . I see both sides.

Sami: Mom, I'm just trying to figure out how I can find someone to sublet my apartment on such short notice.

John: If I may, I know someone who needs a place to live.

Sami: Really? Who?

John: Ava Vitali.

Sami: I am not gonna let her live in my apartment.

John: It would certainly solve your problem, wouldn't it?

Sami: For so many reasons, it's not a good idea.

John: Mm. Blondie, would you please give Sami and me a moment alone?

Marlena: Of course. Um, I want to go catch Roman anyway.

Sami: Oh, yes, Mom, thank you.

John: I want you to show Ava your apartment.

Sami: You're serious, aren't you?

John: I am.

Sami: I don't want her living there, not the least of which she is on trial for murdering my grandfather.

John: Is that all you have against her?

Sami: Isn't that enough?

John: Innocent until proven guilty, right?

Sami: I think she's guilty, and I think she's gonna go down for it.

John: Then she won't be around for long. Make it a one-year lease. If she goes to jail, you still get your money, and you'll have a fallback place to live if you ever get out from underneath my nephew's thumb.

Sami: While that makes an obscene sort of sense, I'm not interested in it. I don't want to hurt my mother's feelings. You have this thing going with Ava, and. . . I don't want my mother to get hurt.

John: Please. Don't get any false hopes about your mother and me. Ava's not coming between us because there is really nothing there. Never mind. I'll just let Ava live here.

Sami: All right. All right, fine, all right? I will show Ava my apartment and see if she likes it.

John: Excellent.

Nurse: Just remember, it's important to keep the monitor on a hard surface like a countertop just in case the alarm beeps, and you'll hear it. I believe that's it. Do either one of you have any questions?

Steve: Yeah. Do you think you could move in here with us for a couple of months until Joe doesn't need this thing anymore?

Nurse: The apnea monitor is really just a precautionary measure. I have no doubt he will do just fine.

Maggie: Oh, look. Your little one is all tuckered out.

Steve: Yeah.

Maggie: He's fast asleep. He's beautiful

Nurse: Steve, would you like me to demonstrate how to properly put on the apnea belt?

Steve: Yeah, yeah, but just give me a second. You okay?

Kayla: Yeah, I'm fine.

Steve: You sure?

Kayla: Yeah, I'm just a little tired. That's all.

Steve: Sweetness, everything's gonna be all right.

Kayla: Yeah, I know.

Steve: Okay, in a few minutes, I'll --

Chloe: I feel like it's my fault that you're being sent back to prison.

Lucas: That's not true. You didn't force me to break my house arrest.

Chloe: But you did it to see me. You should have never come to that hotel, Lucas.

Lucas: You were upset about Philip because he was with Morgan, right? You needed somebody to talk to. So did I...after hearing what E.J. told Nicole about Sami having real feelings for him. I don't regret what happened at the Salem Inn. I needed somebody, and you were there for me. It was amazing, though. I'll always remember it.

Chloe: I will, too.

Officer: No, no, no. Don't touch the prisoner.

Lucas: Just sorry you have to deal with the fallout. You're gonna have to deal with Sami. You're gonna have to face her alone.

Chloe: No, it's okay. I can handle Sami, trust me.

Lucas: What about Philip?

Chloe: We were never officially a couple. I'll be okay. I just wish that you didn't have to go.

Roman: All right, transport's waiting outside. Let's go, Lucas.

Maggie: Uh, so, now I put two casseroles in the freezer, and the cheese and cold cuts are in the refrigerator.

Caroline: Yeah, and what else? Of course, the clam chowder's in the refrigerator.

Steve: Good old chowder.

Kayla: You two are really too much, honestly. Thank you for all this -- the food, the decorations, and making our little guy's homecoming so special. Really, thank you.

Caroline: You're welcome, sweetheart.

Maggie: Are you sure you don't want us to stick around until you two get settled?

Kayla: No, I think we're good. I mean, you really should think about taking a nap. You know, he did volunteer to take the first shift tonight.

Steve: I'm gonna take a nap. I think what I need to do first, though, is make one of those sleeping-baby signs for the door.

Kayla: Oh, yeah. You see? Everything's gonna run smoothly here. We're fine.

Caroline: Well, then, Maggie and I will get out of your way, and I'm just so happy Joe is finally home.

Steve: So are we. Well, thanks a lot for the party.

Caroline: Oh, sure.

Steve: Let's go.

Caroline: And be sure to call us, you know, if you need anything.

Maggie: Yeah, yeah, and me, too.

Steve: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Wait, wait, wait, I forgot. You didn't give me the temperature for those casseroles and how long to put them in for.

Maggie: Oh, my goodness. How could I have forgotten?

Steve: You better write that down.

Maggie: Oh, my goodness. A tablet. Wait, here. Here, here, here, here.

Caroline: How are you holding up, sweetheart?

Kayla: You know, I don't want to worry Steve, but I'm really kind of a nervous wreck.

Caroline: Oh, honey. That's to be expected. You've been through so much lately.

Kayla: It's just been such a roller-coaster ride, you know? Premature birth and then not knowing if he was gonna live or...not.

Caroline: Yeah, but he made it. He's home.

Kayla: But what if something goes wrong?

Caroline: Like what?

Kayla: Like maybe he stops breathing, and we don't know.

Caroline: Honey, the apnea monitor's for that. There shouldn't be a problem.

Kayla: I know. I know.

Caroline: Well, there's really nothing to worry about.

Kayla: It's just that he's so small, and I don't know --

Caroline: Kayla, the hospital would never let you take Joe home if they didn't think he was ready. Huh?

Kayla: I know. I just can't help but worry, you know?

Caroline: Well, you're a mother. That's part of your DNA, you know. You're a grown woman, and I still worry when you take on those 12-hour shifts. It's natural for you to be concerned, but the difficult part's over. Joe made it. He's alive, and he's safe at home.

Kayla: Yeah. I know I have a lot to be grateful for.

Caroline: Yeah.

Ava: Wow, this is a great building.

Sami: I think so.

Ava: Yeah. Hey, thanks for agreeing to let me see your apartment.

Sami: Don't thank me. It was John's idea.

Ava: Yeah, but you didn't have to go along with it, and I appreciate it, Sami.

Sami: Yeah. So, can you picture yourself living here?

Ava: Well, we'll see.

Roman: Well, it looks like we won't be seeing much of him anymore.

Marlena: Oh.

Roman: Hey, doc.

Marlena: Hey there. I hope you don't mind me waiting for you in your office.

Roman: Of course not.

Marlena: Officer Marino just told me that you escorted Lucas to the prison transport.

Roman: I did.

Marlena: And he is going to maximum security?

Roman: Yes, he is.

Marlena: Why?

Roman: Well, you'll have to talk to the suits about that. I did the best I could, Doc. It's out of my hands. But I wouldn't worry about Lucas. He's a tough kid. I think he'll be just fine. Now, how can I help you?

Marlena: I think I might have figured out a way to get John's memory back.

Roman: Well, that's good news.

Marlena: It is, and I need your help.

Kayla: He looks so peaceful. I think that little trip home from the hospital wore him out.

Steve: No doubt.

Kayla: What about you? You gonna take that nap?

Steve: I'm having too much fun watching my baby boy sleep.

Kayla: Trust me, in a few days, you're gonna thank me for encouraging you to get some rest. Do you remember how long it took before Stephanie slept through the night?

Steve: Oh, yeah, I do. Okay, I'm gonna take your advice. I want to be running on all eight cylinders tonight when it's my shift.

Kayla: [Sighs]

Steve: Sweetness...Joe's gonna be fine.

Kayla: I know it. Just that whole apnea monitor and everything, it just reminds me how close we came to losing him.

Steve: But we didn't. That's what's important.

Kayla: That's what my mom said.

Steve: Well, she's right.

Sami: So, what do you think?

Ava: Well, I'll have to redecorate, but it'll do for now. I will take it.

Sami: Great. Um, I'm gonna need a minute 'cause I have to talk to my landlord about it, okay?

Ava: Oh, no problem. You know what? I got to make a call anyway.

Sami: Great. Thanks.

Ava: Hey. Guess where I am.

John: In your new apartment.

Ava: Uh, well, I'm close. I'm in the building.

John: And would that be Samantha's old place?

Ava: Yes.

John: And are you finding the accommodations acceptable?

Ava: Well, you know, I'm gonna have to redecorate, but, oh, it's gonna be so much better than living in a hotel. You know, at least here I can cook. Hey, did you even know that I love to cook?

John: Well, you'll just have to make me your specialty sometime.

Ava: I would love to. Oh, you know what? I can do that as a thank-you, John.

John: You don't need to thank me, Ava.

Ava: Sami never would have agreed to sublet her apartment to me if it weren't for you.

John: Well, now, that is true.

Ava: So, uh, what are you doing? You want to come over? 'Cause I would love to see you.

Steve: Sami, hi.

Sami: Hi. Uncle Steve, um, I need to talk to you and Aunt Kayla.

Steve: Well, come on in.

Sami: Uh, no. I actually don't have a lot of time. It'll have to be quick. Is Aunt Kayla here? I have to --

Steve: Yeah, yeah.

Kayla: Hi, Sami. Come by to see the baby?

Sami: Um, how is little Joe?

Kayla: He's good. You know, I didn't realize that you had moved back to your apartment.

Sami: I haven-- I haven't. See, I'm showing it to someone, and that's what I came to talk to you about. I wanted to tell you about the person who's, um --

Kayla: Oh, is it anybody we know?

Steve: What the hell?

Kayla: You have got to be kidding me.

Sami: Aunt Kayla, I didn't --

Steve: What's going on, Sami?

Sami: Ava's looking at my apartment. She hasn't signed papers or anything.

Steve: What are you doing, Ava?

Ava: Look, I'm not doing anything. I had no idea you and Kayla were living here.

Steve: You didn't?

Ava: No, I didn't.

Kayla: Well, Sami sure did.

Sami: I did. I knew you weren't gonna like it, but --

Kayla: Well, you're right about that. We don't. You know, Ava, I think that it would be better for everybody if you found some other place to live.

Ava: I understand.

Sami: Oh, God. Aunt Kayla, I am so sorry. I can explain.

Kayla: Yeah, well, you should be, and you can't.

Sami: Uncle Steve, I --

Steve: It's all right.

Sami: Great.

Steve: Sweetness, are you okay?

Kayla: Do you really have to ask?

Roman: How did this happen?

Marlena: John broke it.

Roman: Intentionally?

Marlena: Yes.

Roman: What was on it?

Marlena: Well, I believe it was his dormant brain-wave patterns.

Roman: His memories.

Marlena: Yes.

Roman: Who gave it to you?

Marlena: I can't tell you that.

Roman: You can't tell me that? Why the hell not?

Marlena: Well, because I promised the person I wouldn't.

Roman: Okay, wait a minute here, Doc. Is this the disk that was stolen from the mansion a while back?

Marlena: Yes.

Roman: I don't like this. You need to tell me who gave this to you.

Marlena: I can't do that.

Roman: Well, then, I can't help you.

Marlena: Roman, please, I just promised the person I wouldn't. Can't you trust me now?

Roman: I trust you, Doc. I don't trust the person who stole this disk. This could be a setup.

Marlena: It isn't a setup.

Roman: You don't know that.

Marlena: You don't know it, either. Roman, I know this disk will help me get John to remember his past. I understand your reservations, but, please, I'm asking you as a friend. Please help me help him.

Roman: I'll do my best, Doc. What do you want me to do?

Marlena: Well, I know that Rolf created the disk, and I suspect that he can repair it, but he says not. And I was thinking perhaps if we could offer him, say, immunity from prosecution, he might change his mind and help us out.

Roman: So you want me to speak to the DA about granting Rolf immunity?

Marlena: Yes.

Roman: Well, I don't know that the DA will go for that, considering all the crimes that Rolf must have committed when he worked for Stefano. But even if he does and Rolf manages to fix this thing, there are other problems to consider.

Marlena: Like what?

Roman: How do you know this disk will help John remember his past? For all we know, this disk could kill John.

Sami: Lucas is being transported back to prison today. I hope you're happy with yourself.

Kayla: Steve.

Steve: Oh, God, Kayla.

Kayla: Let me out! Let me out!

Steve: No, no, no, no! Hey, baby, come here.

Kayla: What the hell is going on in here?

Ava: Isn't it obvious?

Steve: What? What did you say?

Ava: It's obvious.

Steve: You planned this whole thing, didn't you?

Ava: Look, I just wanted Kayla to see how good we were together.

Steve: I should have known.

Ava: Hey, look, I really didn't think that you were gonna want to make love, but now that I know you do, everything is really...uh.

Steve: I don't.

Ava: You do.

Steve: I don't!

Ava: You do! And I want you out of here now!

Kayla: I'm not going anywhere.

Steve: Sweetness. I don't want you getting upset over this business with Ava, and what the hell was Sami thinking anyway?

Kayla: You know, I don't believe for one second that Ava didn't know where we live.

Steve: You think she manipulated the situation so she could move in to our building?

Kayla: I don't know, and I don't care. I don't want her here. I have run out of patience with that woman.

Steve: I can see that.

Kayla: I'm being serious.

Steve: So am I.

Kayla: Do you realize that Ava is the cause of everything bad that's happened to us this year?

Steve: I do.

Kayla: And here -- here's this special day, this day that we bring home our baby boy from the hospital, and who shows up at our door but your crazy ex-girlfriend. I can't take it any more.

Steve: You don't have to, because Ava's got nothing to do with us any more.

Kayla: Maybe not, maybe not, but our baby boy is still dealing with the fallout.

John: Hello, Ava.

Ava: John. What are you doing here?

John: Samantha called me. She told me what happened.

Ava: John, did you know that Steve and Kayla were living in this building now?

John: No, it's just bad luck.

Ava: I have had nothing but bad luck since I moved into this town.

John: Are you feeling sorry for yourself?

Ava: Yeah, I am.

John: Well, don't. You're stronger than that.

Ava: I'm trying to be.

John: Well, try harder. You're the only one in this town who really understands me, so I would like you to stick around.

Ava: Well, maybe I will... if you let me move in with you.

Chloe: Look, I'm not in the mood to argue with you, Sami.

Sami: Then do us all a favor and stay away from Lucas.

Chloe: That's not gonna be a problem. He's going back to prison.

Sami: Because of you.

Chloe: No, Lucas is being sent back to prison because of you, Sami. I know it, he knows it, so you'd damn well better deal with it.

Marlena: Well, the John you and I knew would never want to live his life this way. He'd want me to help him get his memories back, and I'm doing that now with your help.

Roman: Okay, Doc. But if you don't mind, before we do anything, I would like to send this to ISA, see if they can fix it. Then we check it out, find out what's on it, make sure John won't be harmed.

Marlena: That's a wonderful idea.

Roman: Any luck, they'll restore it and make sure it's safe. We can get on with helping John, and we don't have to cut any deals with Stefano's mad scientist.

Marlena: That's great. Thanks. I'm gonna go.

Roman: Okay. Hang on, though. Hang on one second. I want you to be very honest with me. How are you holding up?

Marlena: Oh! I might not have told you this, but I've taken on a few more patients, so I'm doing what I love. I'm doing what I'm good at, and I'm keeping myself pretty busy.

Roman: Come on, Doc. You don't have to pretend for me.

Ava: So, what do you say, John? You got room in that mansion for one more guest?

John: Actually, Ava, I don't.

Ava: Well, okay. That's a shame, 'cause we could have had some fun.

John: Oh, we still can have fun, just not in my mansion. At least...not while I'm still legally married to Blondie.

Ava: So you still want to see me?

John: Yes, I do. But I kind of like the idea of you having your own place, somewhere where we can...get to know each other a little better in private.

Ava: And it doesn't bother you that you're still married?

John: No. Does it bother you?

Ava: Well, not if it's just a legality.

John: Well, good. Then we are in agreement.

Ava: I really like you, John.

[John and Ava kiss]

Steve: Kayla, listen -- Joe's getting stronger and stronger.

Kayla: You know what? Our baby has to wear a monitor every time he sleeps. It's not fair.

Steve: I know. I know it's not fair. Ava...has caused our family a lifetime of grief, but we can't let that dictate our future.

Kayla: I keep seeing you in bed with her. I can't get that picture out of my head.

Steve: You know it wasn't my choice, baby.

Kayla: No. I don't know that.

Steve: You don't know that? Well, then, you don't know what went on in that room. I woke up from being drugged for I don't know how long. You weren't there. I didn't know if you and the baby were okay. I didn't know if Bo and Hope were bleeding to death. I didn't know if Stephanie was safe or not. But there was Ava. I tried to reason with her, but I finally realized it was no use. She was a different person. She was capable of anything. She was gonna kill you. She was gonna kill all of you. I was desperate. I would do anything to save you. Now, I had to convince her to let you all go, and the way I did that was I made her believe that I would stay with her. Kayla, listen to me -- the last thing I told her, I said to her, 'You got to accept my terms, that Kayla is the only one I ever truly loved.'

Kayla: I...I just thought that we had something special. That we were different than other people. That there wouldn't be any lies or deceit. I walked into a room where you were naked with another woman in bed, and...I-I just feel betrayed... on so many levels. I mean, why did-- why didn't you just tell me about her in the first place?

Steve: 'Cause I didn't remember her. I didn't remember her. I told you there were big parts of my life that I didn't remember anything about. She was one of them. I didn't remember her at all until I saw her again that first time in Ireland.

Kayla: But why didn't you tell me about her then, as soon as you remembered her?

Steve: 'Cause I was trying to protect you.

Kayla: By withholding the truth? You could have come clean with me then, as soon as you knew she was a threat to our family.

Steve: The doctors said no stress.

Kayla: What, so you were gonna handle her by yourself?

Steve: I was afraid you were gonna lose the baby.

Kayla: But the baby came early, and he almost died! Because you couldn't trust me with the truth.

Sami: I'm the reason Lucas broke house arrest?

Chloe: Yeah, Sami. If you hadn't pitted Lucas and E.J. against each other, Lucas probably never would have broken house arrest.

Sami: You're wrong.

Chloe: Oh, am I? I mean, come on. Think about it -- would you want to spend the next 10 years of your life living with the person that Lucas cheated on you with? Well, that's what Lucas was gonna do, and it was eating him up inside, day after day, seeing you and E.J. together.

Sami: Lucas knows that I love him.

Chloe: Do you? I mean, you admitted to E.J. that you have feelings for him. That's what sent Lucas over the edge, remember? That's why he left the mansion and that's why he broke house arrest -- to get away from you, so this is all your fault.

Sami: Oh, let's be clear about one thing, Chloe. The only reason Lucas broke house arrest is because you seduced him.

Chloe: Oh, come on. I mean, I'm not gonna deny that Lucas came to the Salem Inn to see me and that we had sex, but the reason he came to see me is because he needed someone to talk to because you hurt him, Sami. Lucas needed me, and I was there for him. Where were you?

Steve: Sweetness... I can't ask you to forgive me... or even love me. I never deserved either one. When I thought I'd never see you again...that I'd be in a shallow grave somewhere...the worst part was thinking that you might believe I'd abandoned you. So I thank God that I can tell you, the only real truth, sweetness...that without you, without our family...my life would have meant nothing. I'm sorry, baby.

[Kayla cries]

Steve: I'm so sorry.

Roman: All right, Doc. Talk to me, okay? Have a seat right here. Sit down. Tell me what's going on.

Marlena: I don't know where to start.

Roman: Well, how about starting with why John broke this disc?

Marlena: John decided he doesn't want to get his memory back. He likes who he is now.

Roman: And you refused to accept that.

Marlena: Well, you've seen who he's become -- a man he would despise. He's ruthless, maybe even dangerous. He scares me, Roman.

Roman: Believe me, we are all afraid for him.

Marlena: I feel like we're working against the clock. That's why I want that disk repaired as soon as possible.

Roman: Marlena, it sounds to me like you have done everything you can. John is a different man, and judging by his behavior the past few months, not a man that you should probably be around right now. I know you don't want to hear this, but maybe, just maybe, it might be time to let him go.

Marlena: I won't give up on him, and I won't let him do this to himself.

Roman: I understand that, Doc. But you do know there's a very good chance you may not have a choice.

Marlena: I do.

Ava: Mm. Oh, you were right. Oh, you were right about what you said earlier. I do. I do understand you.

John: I know you do.

Ava: What I don't understand is why everyone insists on trying to change you.

John: Because, apparently, I used to be a nicer guy, and I think they liked him better.

Ava: Well, I like the guy you are now. I like him a lot.

John: That's good to know.

Ava: Are you sure I can't convince you to...let me live with you?

John: Like I said, Miss Vitali, I don't think that's a good idea right now.

Ava: Okay, you know what? I think I'm gonna go.

John: I don't want you to go.

Ava: Yeah, well, you know what? I don't really believe you, okay?

John: Well, then, maybe I can convince you. Do you still want to go?

Ava: Maybe, uh, not quite yet. Okay. Okay, maybe never.

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

Chelsea: How are my dad and grandpa? I mean, they're okay, right?

Caroline: Did something happen between you and Victor?

Philip: Bo's protecting me at the risk of his name, his reputation, his family, and their future. How the hell am I supposed to live with that?
