Daniel: There's no reason to be nervous, Kate. It's a very simple procedure. And if all goes well, we should have you up and out of here in, oh, a couple of days.
Chelsea: You'll be fine.
Daniel: And we're gonna give you something to help relax you, all right?
Kate: No. I'm not gonna let you do the surgery.
Philip: Her surgery's this morning.
Henderson: Please give your mother my best.
Philip: I will. Have you seen my keys?
Henderson: I'm sorry, sir.
Philip: They must be upstairs.
Henderson: Mr. DiMera. I don't believe Mrs. Kiriakis is awake yet.
E.J.: That's quite all right. Actually, I was hoping to speak with Victor.
Victor: What the hell are you doing here?
E.J.: Victor. It's lovely to see you, too.
Victor: Make it quick. Kate's surgery is this morning, and I need to be there.
E.J.: Look, I've been thinking about our conversation last night regarding your divorce.
Victor: I understood that offer expired last night.
E.J.: Well, it was, and then I thought, you know, you were at the hospital, probably not thinking straight, and I thought, "you know, E.J., before things get really nasty, maybe you should give him one more chance."
Victor: You know, I don't have time for this. You're as rude and thoughtless this morning as you were at the hospital last night.
E.J.: The hospital probably wasn't the most appropriate place to have that conversation, but it is my responsibility to resolve the situation as quickly and painlessly as possible. Look, I'm sorry about Kate. But from what I hear, her prognosis is looking rather positive.
Victor: How did you know that?
E.J.: Not a lot gets by me, Victor. It's one of the reasons I'm here. So...do you want to hear me out?
Roman: Yeah, that's right. Bo and Hope have the morning off, so if you need anything, call Abe or me. Yeah, one of us will be over there shortly. Looks to me like you could use a little time off, too, partner.
Abe: Well, believe me, that's the last thing I want. Right now work's the only thing keeping me sane.
Roman: Okay. Would you like to talk about it?
Roman: Fair enough.
Abe: You know, I heard that Marlena's moving out of the mansion.
Roman: Word does travel fast.
Abe: Well, I ran into her when I dropped Lexie off at the hospital. So, what do you think -- good idea?
Roman: Well, I know Sami will miss her, but I do believe that the faster she gets out of there, the better.
Abe: And Sami's a grown woman. She can take care of herself.
Roman: I'm not sure about that. I was over there last night, and Sami seemed pretty upset. I think living there is driving her crazy, too.
Abe: Well, I'm sure it's getting to Lucas, too.
Roman: Yeah, but I think no matter where he was, I think being cooped up that long under house arrest will drive anybody crazy.
Sami: Hey. It's hot out there.
Lucas: Yeah. Yeah, it's supposed to be 90.
Sami: It's a good day for the lake.
Lucas: For you, maybe. For me, what do I get to do today? What's on? I get to watch "Weekend at Bernie's." Yeah, my day's all booked up.
Sami: You know, maybe there's a way we could get that ankle monitor off you. You could get out of here.
Lucas: I already told you for the millionth time that I never took off my ankle monitor.
Sami: I didn't say that you did. I just think --
Lucas: That what? You're convinced that I slipped out of here last night.
Sami: What if I am?
Lucas: What if I did?
Steve: How long can a few tests take?
Kayla: Well, you know, they want to make sure that he's strong enough to breathe on his own.
Steve: I want everything to go right today.
Kayla: Can you believe that we finally get to hold our baby?
Steve: It's about time, isn't it?
Steve: I wish Stephanie was here. Where is she, anyway?
Kayla: I'm sure she's on her way. She doesn't want to miss this.
Steve: I'm a little worried about her. She didn't come home last night. Her cellphone's off again.
Kayla: Well, she's probably staying with Max.
Steve: You think they spent the night together?
Steve: Well, doesn't it bother you that she's not here?
Kayla: You know, Max is going through a lot of things right now that you aren't really aware of.
Steve: Oh, really? Start talking.
Max: In sum, your ideas are seriously flawed, and I find your premise to be completely invalid. On top of which, I think you are a no-good son of a bitch. And I'm gonna let everyone at the university, as well as this town, know that.
Kayla: You know how Nick received a grant to work on his prototype?
Kayla: Well, apparently, Max had something to do with that.
Steve: What do you mean?
Kayla: He got his hands on Nick's proposal, he saw that there were some errors, he made some corrections, and then he didn't tell anybody.
Steve: Are we talking about the same Maxwell here?
Kayla: [Chuckling] I know. It seems kind of crazy, but I guess he has this gift. He doesn't want anybody to know about it.
Steve: Why not?
Kayla: I don't know. Stephanie's pushing him to open up, but so far, he refuses.
Steve: So, what's he doing? Is he keeping secrets from her?
Kayla: Well, to hear Stephanie tell it, it's like he's living a double life. He is angry and alienating his friends.
Steve: Well, that's not good.
Kayla: No, it's not. And he's getting into fights.
Steve: Fights, huh?
Kayla: Yeah. I'm worried about him.
Steve: Huh. I wonder what's got Max so tweaked.
Roman: Well, you know, even if Lucas could get out, I don't think he'd be that stupid. He's already got two strikes against him.
Abe: You may be right. Yeah, I don't think an hour or so of freedom is worth 10 years in prison.
Roman: Unh-unh. Oh. [Cellphone ringing] Ah, Eric. got out of the hospital.
Abe: All right, well, give him my best, will you? I'm gonna go over to the warehouse.
Roman: Okay, I'll catch you later. Hey, son. How's that leg coming? Crutches? Well, I hope you got somebody to help you out.
Philip: Do you need me to stick around?
Victor: That won't be necessary. We just have a little business to discuss.
Victor: Go see your mother. Tell her I'll be there shortly. All right, come on. Make it quick. As I said, I'm in a hurry.
E.J.: Well, after discussing this at some length with my client, we've decided to propose that we settle out of court.
Victor: Oh. Well, this meeting's gonna take less time than I thought. No. You can see yourself out.
E.J.: Aren't you the least bit curious?
Victor: I don't make deals with the devil.
E.J.: Maybe you should think about this one.
E.J.: I mean, Victor, a pillar of the community such as yourself -- one rather shudders to think of the consequences when you're very publicly charged with fraud.
Victor: Fraud? On what grounds?
E.J.: Victor...you allowed my client to take the heat when you let everybody think that you were dead.
Victor: You know, I'm confident that an attempted murder charge against Nicole will more than trump those ridiculous allegations.
E.J.: Really? Why is that? I mean, your key witness for this alleged murder, the one person who could possibly corroborate this rather malicious accusation that you make against my client -- Miss Jan Spears -- well, she's been in a coma for the last three years.
Victor: This is preposterous. If you think you can blackmail me into settling, you're dead wrong.
Daniel: Kate, we have to do this surgery. The sooner, the better.
Kate: I understand, but I don't want you to do it.
Chelsea: Why? He's the best doctor here.
Kate: I have no doubt of that, but I'm sure he has other patients who need him more than I do.
Daniel: Actually, Kate, no, I don't. You are the only one on my schedule today.
Chelsea: Why would you want somebody else to do it? We know Daniel. He's a family friend.
Kate: Exactly. And he's also Victor's Godson, so we have more than just a simple doctor/patient relationship.
Daniel: That doesn't mean I can't be objective.
Kate: Look, there are other doctors on staff, right? You told me that yourself. You also told me that it is not a difficult operation.
Daniel: Yeah, that's true, but I can --
Kate: I don't understand what the problem is here. I am the patient. I'm requesting another doctor.
Chelsea: You're not making any sense.
Kate: I'm not gonna argue with you, Chelsea.
Daniel: I would like to speak with Kate alone. Could you wait in the hall?
Chelsea: I don't know why you're doing this.
Daniel: Don't worry about it. Just please give us a minute. Do you want to tell me what the hell you're doing?
Kate: I want another surgeon. Why is that so hard for you to accept?
Daniel: Oh, I know. I know exactly what this is about.
E.J.: Wouldn't it just be so much simpler to just settle this?
Victor: Give me one good reason.
E.J.: I'll give you a whole litany of reasons if you like.
Victor: There's not a judge in the state that would side with Nicole.
E.J.: See, I really wouldn't be so sure about that, Victor. I mean, what if we start poking into your marital history? Quite a lot of ex-wives. Who do we got? Let's see -- we got, uh, Carly Manning. We've got Vivian Alamain. Of course, we can't forget Kate. That's three.
Victor: You know, you talk a good game, but you're still a little wet behind the ears.
E.J.: Don't underestimate me, Victor. I will make you, your family, and your businesses look like the opening act in a freak show.
Victor: You seem to forget who you're dealing with.
E.J.: No, I know exactly who I'm dealing with, and that is your problem. Let me ask you something. How would you like to see full financial disclosure of all of your assets splashed across the front page of the intruder? Tell you this -- I bet it would sell a lot of papers.
Victor: Empty threats.
E.J.: Do you want to lose half your estate? Would you like to lose all of your reputation? If you do, then go ahead and challenge us. But if you're as smart and as savvy as people say you are, I suggest you take this settlement offer.
Victor: [Chuckles] You can't be serious.
Nicole: So, did he take the deal?
Victor: Hell, no.
Sami: Are you saying that you did sneak out of here last night?
Lucas: You know what? This isn't working.
Sami: What? What isn't working?
Lucas: This -- this whole thing, living under the same roof. All we do is argue.
Sami: I agree. So, what do you want to do?
Lucas: I think you should move out, go live with your mother.
Sami: No way. No way, Lucas. I am not just leaving here, leaving you here.
Lucas: Fine. Then E.J. should go. [Doorbell rings] I got it, Rolf!
Sami: Lucas. Lucas, no way. We are not through here. Lucas, you can't just --
Chloe: Hi. I'm sorry. I should have called first.
Sami: Yeah, you probably should have.
Chloe: You know what? I'll just come back later.
Lucas: No, Chloe. Actually, it's a perfect time. Come on.
Sami: So, Chloe, what brings you by?
Chloe: Uh, you know what? Can I speak to Lucas alone for a minute?
Sami: Of course. You know, I got to shower anyway. Um, I can't find my sunglasses.
Lucas: They're on your head.
Sami: Oh. Of course. Thanks.
Chloe: If this is a bad time, I can come back later.
Lucas: Wait, wait, wait. Wait a minute.
Lucas: I know what you're doing. Get out of here. A little privacy, please.
Kate: Daniel, please don't make this difficult for me. I just don't want you to perform the surgery.
Daniel: Fine. But you are the one who is going to explain it to Chelsea.
Chelsea: Did you change her mind?
Daniel: Well, I tried.
Chelsea: I don't get it. Why is she being so stubborn?
Daniel: I don't know. I'm sorry, Chelsea. I did what I could.
Philip: Hey, what's going on? How's my Mom?
Chelsea: Well, she's refusing to let Daniel operate.
Daniel: She wants another surgeon.
Chelsea: Anyone but him. For some reason, she's more comfortable with a perfect stranger sawing her open.
Daniel: You know, Dr. Stall is working today, and he's very good. Why don't I just see what his schedule looks like?
Philip: Hey, this is ridiculous. Let me talk some sense into her.
Nicole: Come on, Victor. It's not that unreasonable.
Victor: You want to know what I think of your offer? Now, if you'll excuse me.
Nicole: We could put this to bed right here, right now.
Victor: That's how we got into this mess in the first place.
Nicole: The sooner we settle, the sooner I'll be out of your hair.
Victor: Well, as tempting as that sounds, the answer is still no.
Nicole: I told you he wouldn't go for it.
Victor: You could buy a small country with what you're asking for.
Nicole: Well, that's pocket change for you, Victor. I mean, how many Picassos does one man need?
Victor: They're Monets.
Nicole: Oh, whatever. You know what, Victor? The amount of money you invest in those old canvases -- I mean, you can certainly afford to keep me in the lifestyle that I deserve.
Victor: I can't believe I'm hearing this.
E.J.: I think it's more than fair, Victor.
Victor: She tried to kill me. She doesn't deserve a red cent.
Nicole: Fine. Henderson, can you come in here, please?
Henderson: Mrs. Kiriakis.
Victor: Didn't I ask you not to call her that?
Henderson: I'm sorry, sir.
Nicole: Wow. Is that any way to talk to the help? Poor guy. Now, Henderson, this is what I'm gonna need by Friday. I'm gonna need six of those really big tents -- you know, the ones they have for weddings. And I'm gonna need food for about 100 to 150 of my near and dears. And talk to Maggie at Chez Rouge, 'cause they're gonna cater. Shouldn't you be writing this down?
Victor: You can go, Henderson.
Nicole: And we're gonna need an ice sculpture in the likeness of my Pookie.
Victor: Who the hell do you think you are?
Nicole: Don't worry, Victor. You're on the guest list. However, my parties really don't get cranking till after midnight.
Victor: [Sighs] All right, you want to settle this? Let's settle it right now.
E.J.: Good. I'm finally glad you came to your senses. I have the paperwork right here.
Victor: Just cut your offer in half and you've got a deal.
E.J.: [Clears throat] You must be mad.
Victor: I'm furious, but not enough to negotiate. Take it or leave it.
E.J.: Well, I know I speak for my client --
Nicole: We'll take it.
Steve: Well, I don't like it. If Max is flying off the handle and getting into fights --
Kayla: You know, I know where this is going. Honestly, we cannot get involved.
Steve: Well, Stephanie's involved.
Kayla: But we need to let these kids work it out for themselves, and if Max wants our help, he's gonna ask us.
Steve: What about our daughter?
Kayla: She hasn't asked us, either.
Steve: [Sighs] Look, there he is. Hey.
Max: Kayla, Steve?
Kayla: How is he?
Nurse: Well, we've been able to wean him down to minimal settings, and we're taking him off the ventilator.
Kayla: That's great.
Steve: Can we hold him now?
Nurse: I think he'd like that.
Steve: We get to hold him.
Stephanie: Pete, have you seen Max?
Pete: Mnh-mnh. Sorry. [Footsteps approaching]
Stephanie: Hey, Nick, it's Steph.
Nick: What's up?
Stephanie: You haven't talked to Max today, have you?
Nick: No. Why?
Stephanie: I've tried everywhere, and I can't help but worry considering how weird he's been acting lately.
Nick: Do you want me to come over?
Stephanie: Would you?
Nick: Yeah, of course. Where are you?
Stephanie: Well, I'm at the pub now, but I'm heading to the hospital. Why don't you meet me there?
Nick: 20 minutes?
Stephanie: Perfect. Thank you, Nick.
Lucas: Hey, sorry about that. Allie usually sleeps pretty good after she eats.
Chloe: You seem like a good father.
Lucas: Well, thank you.
Chloe: And I'm sure you're glad to be free...to some degree.
Lucas: Yeah. Guess I'm a lucky guy.
Chloe: Which is why I can't figure out why you'd risk it all.
Lucas: What do you mean?
Chloe: Come on, Lucas. I know you were on the pier when you called me last night.
Lucas: I was not. I was here. Come on, I can't even go to the mailbox without alarms going off.
Chloe: Stop lying. It's just the two of us.
Lucas: I am not lying.
Chloe: How'd you do it, Lucas? How'd you get away?
Stephanie: Uncle Roman, hi!
Roman: Hi, Steph. Okay. Hey.
Roman: Hey, daughter. Uh, where was Stephanie running off to in such a hurry?
Sami: To the hospital.
Roman: Oh, that's right. They're taking Joe off the ventilator.
Sami: We should really go by and see them.
Roman: Well, you know what? I'll give Kayla a call, but right now, what did you want to talk about?
Sami: Give you one guess.
Pete: Hey, guys, what can I get you today?
Roman: Hey, Pete. Uh, tell you what -- coffee, bagel, cream cheese. Sami, I'm buying.
Sami: Wow. Thanks. I'll have a fruit plate, please, and just some water. Thanks.
Roman: [Chuckles] You are going to waste away to nothing.
Sami: Daddy, please. I mean, it's been seven months since the twins were born, and I'm barely getting my body back.
Roman: Trust me, daughter -- you look even more beautiful than you ever did.
Sami: I think that's the dad in you talking, but thank you. Okay, so, Dad, I really need your advice.
Roman: Okay, I can do that.
Sami: Lucas gave me an ultimatum. He said either I have to move out or E.J. does.
Roman: Wow. That's a pretty big order.
Sami: And there's just no way. I mean, there is no way I can move out.
Roman: And I guess there's no way that Lucas can make E.J. leave, is there?
Roman: Even though you both want him to go. Or am I wrong about that?
Sami: Well...no matter what happens, it's gonna upset the twins.
Roman: Sami, I'm getting the feeling here you don't want E.J. to leave.
Sami: The truth is, Dad, I don't. But if I told Lucas that, he would freak out and he would accuse me of having feelings for E.J.
Roman: Do you?
E.J.: What are you doing? I am this close to getting you twice that amount.
Nicole: I just want this whole thing to be over, all right? I'm sick of this. I want my freedom.
E.J.: Are you sure? Because the last I checked, all you wanted was a big divorce settlement.
Nicole: Don't worry, E.J. You'll still get a nice commission.
E.J.: This has got nothing to do with me, all right? Look, I'm your attorney, all right? I would not be doing my job if I did not get you what you deserve, and what you deserve is half of his estate. Now, trust me -- can we please just go back there and tell him you're not accepting his offer? Uh, victor, after consultation with my client, we have decided that --
Nicole: I accept your offer.
Victor: Well, I must say I'm a bit surprised.
Nicole: Well, I guess you don't know me as well as you thought -- neither one of you. So, now what? Do we sign papers -- what?
E.J.: I'll call the office. I will have them draw up the paperwork with some amended figures. If you'll excuse me.
Victor: Don't think for a moment that I don't know exactly what you're doing.
Nicole: Excuse me?
Victor: There's always an ulterior motive with you, isn't there, Nicole?
Nicole: No, Victor, not this time. I just want out of this marriage.
Victor: So you can move on to your next victim?
Nicole: Victor, please.
Victor: I just hope E.J. knows what he's getting into.
Kate: I would just be more comfortable with another doctor. What's the big deal?
Chelsea: See? Told you she's not gonna budge.
Philip: Look at what he did for Chelsea and Bo. You can't get a better surgeon.
Kate: Nurse, do you know if they found another doctor yet?
Nurse: Dr. Stall will be operating.
Kate: Ah, is he good?
Nurse: Very good. He comes highly recommended by Dr. Jonas.
Kate: You see? Everything's gonna be just fine.
Nurse: I need to finish prepping Ms. Roberts, so I'll have to ask you to leave.
Kate: Okay, come on. Give me a hug. Say goodbye.
Philip: All right. I love you.
Kate: Love you, too, sweetie.
Chelsea: Love you.
Kate: I love you. [Glass breaks]
Kayla: Thank you. Hey, little buddy. Hi. It's your mama.
Steve: Hey, big Joe Johnson. He's so tiny. [Chuckles]
Kayla: He's perfect. We need you to keep getting stronger, okay? 'Cause your papa and I are so anxious for you to come home. We love you.
Steve: We love you, big boy.
Stephanie: I am so glad he's getting better.
Kayla: Breathing on his own is so huge.
Nick: When can you bring him home?
Kayla: Really, it's too early to tell.
Steve: Oh, I think it's gonna be real soon. We're all ready for him, aren't we, Sweetness? Got the nursery all set up. We got a closet full of tiny little clothes.
Kayla: That reminds me -- I need to go thank Estelle for the little sleeper she sent. I'll be back.
Nick: So, uh, what are we gonna do about this Max thing?
Steve: What's going on?
Stephanie: Uh, his cellphone's off, and I don't know where he is.
Nick: I can go check the pier and see if he's there.
Stephanie: That would be great.
Nick: Okay. Um, should I also check the Java Café and maybe the Greenhill Basketball Courts?
Stephanie: Yeah, try that, and I have a few places to check as well, and call me if you find him.
Nick: Okay. Will do.
Stephanie: Thank you, Nick. Well, I should go.
Steve: No, wait. Baby girl...talk to me. Tell me what's going on with Max.
Victor: How's your mother? Is she in surgery?
Philip: She went in about 20 minutes ago.
Victor: Daniel, why aren't you in the O.R.?
Daniel: Kate decided to have another doctor perform her surgery.
Victor: What? But you're the one that diagnosed her.
Daniel: I don't know what to tell you, Victor, but it's her choice.
Victor: Well, if you ask me, she's making a big mistake.
Daniel: Well, like I told Philip and Chelsea, the doctor who's performing the surgery is excellent. She's in very good hands. But if it'll make you feel any better, I'll go in there and see how it's going.
Philip: That'd be great.
Chelsea: Thank you.
Victor: Damn it, Kate. What the hell is going on with you?
Sami: Thank you.
Roman: Thanks, Pete. So...do you have feelings for E.J. or not?
Sami: Dad, we share a child together. The most important thing for me is that we're both good parents to Johnny, and we...
Roman: So then it doesn't bother you to see him with Nicole?
E.J.: I still don't understand why you didn't go for the jugular. I mean, you would have been set for life.
Nicole: Sometimes it's not always about the money.
E.J.: Hi. Um...who are you? Where's Nicole? Sorry.
Nicole: You didn't think I had a benevolent bone in my body?
E.J.: Frankly, uh...no. [Chuckling] No, I didn't.
Nicole: Well, I do have a softer side. I just don't like to advertise it.
E.J.: Well, maybe you should. Look, I'm your lawyer, okay? As long as you're happy with the outcome, I'm happy with the outcome, so let's celebrate -- on me.
Nicole: Wait, wait, wait. I-I don't think your wife over there would appreciate it.
E.J.: I wouldn't worry too much about her.
Nicole: Look, I don't want to come between you and Sami, so how about we celebrate some other time? And it'll be my treat.
E.J.: You know what that means? That means you have to buy the drinks, yeah?
Nicole: Yes, yes, I know. You're very funny. Very funny. You know, actually, I am a little sad this is all ending.
Nicole: Oh, no. Don't -- don't get me wrong. I am thrilled to be free from Victor. Call me crazy, but...I've really enjoyed getting to know you.
E.J.: Thank you. I've really enjoyed getting to know you, too.
Nicole: Well, thank you for everything.
E.J.: You're welcome. Hey, if you ever need a lawyer...
Nicole: [Chuckles] I know where to look you up.
Nicole: I'd give you a hug, but, uh...I...
E.J.: Just give me a hug, okay?
E.J.: You did very well. It was a tough case. And now you're free and single. I'll get all the paperwork written up at the office, and you're good to go.
Dean Robbins: Nicole Walker, so nice to see you.
Nicole: What are you doing here?
Dean Robbins: Oh, my God. Look at that face. It's as beautiful as the day I met you.
Nicole: I have to go.
Dean Robbins: Oh, come on. It's been such a long time. I think we got a lot to catch up on, don't you?
Nicole: I can't.
Dean Robbins: Oh, come on, Nikki. We both know you could never say no to me.
Philip: So, how'd things go with E.J.?
Victor: Well, we came to an agreement on the divorce settlement.
Philip: You're kidding. Just like that?
Victor: [Chuckles] Half as much as Nicole asked for, twice as much as she deserved.
Philip: Then why'd you agree?
Victor: Well, to tell you the truth, I just wanted to put an end to that ugly chapter in my life.
Philip: I take it she'll be moving out soon?
Victor: In the ideal world, she'd be gone by the end of the day, but we're talking about Nicole here. I'm sure she's gonna milk it for all it's worth.
Philip: We better count the silverware before she moves out. [Laughs]
Victor: Listen, I know this isn't the appropriate place. I'd like to apologize for some of the things I said last night. I think you're doing a terrific job at Titan. You're way ahead of where I was at your age.
Philip: Does this mean you trust me to handle the business?
Victor: You have my complete support, son.
Chelsea: Here you go.
Philip: Thank you, Chelsea.
Chelsea: Are you sure you didn't want anything?
Victor: No, I'm fine, dear. Thank you.
Philip: Dr. Jonas, how is she?
Daniel: Well, it's looking good.
Victor: How long's the recovery?
Daniel: Well, it's possible she could be home tomorrow or the next day.
Philip: That's great.
Daniel: Yeah, she just needs to take it easy and she'll get back to her normal self.
Chelsea: Good. I'm gonna call my mom and let her know.
Daniel: Chelsea, wait. I'd like you to do me a favor.
Chelsea: Okay, yeah, sure, if I can. What is it?
Daniel: Have dinner with me tomorrow night.
Chloe: Come on. Admit it, Lucas. You were on the pier when you called me last night.
Lucas: How many times do I have to tell you? I was here.
Chloe: You saw me crying, which means you were watching me, which means that you were there.
Lucas: I didn't even know you were gonna be at the pier. Come on, it was a total coincidence --
Lucas: Come on, that doesn't count.
Chloe: You were there.
Lucas: Yeah, I was. I was. You got me, but please don't tell anybody.
Chloe: Why did you do it?
Lucas: Because I'm going stir crazy in this place. I'm trapped inside these walls. That's why. I felt like I had more freedom in prison. I just needed to get away for a little to clear my head. That's all.
Chloe: So, you had no intentions of running away?
Lucas: Come on. Hell, no. I could never leave Allie.
Chloe: What about the ankle monitor? How did you get away with that?
Lucas: I found a way to take it off. I was only gone like an hour, and I came right back. No one even knew I was out of here.
Chloe: Who else knows about this?
Lucas: Sami has her suspicions, but that's it -- nobody else. And I'd like to keep it that way. I'm not going back to jail, and I'm not losing my daughter, so just please promise me you're not gonna say anything.
Roman: Well, I'm gonna say hi to ma and take off.
Sami: Okay, bye.
Roman: Bye, honey.
E.J.: Hey, good to see you.
Roman: Take care, E.J.
E.J.: So, I thought you would be interested to know that Nicole just settled with Victor.
E.J.: Uh-huh, yep. I'm getting quite a substantial commission.
Sami: How much did she get?
E.J.: You know I can't tell you that.
Sami: Come on.
E.J.: Let's just say she's gonna be very comfortable. Anyway...I thought you and I could go out and celebrate. There's that new Italian restaurant. It opened up on the waterfront. They got five stars in the Chronicle.
Sami: E.J...come on. We can't just go to dinner together. How would that look?
E.J.: Well, you and I have a few things we need to talk about.
Sami: Like what?
E.J.: Like what? Samantha, you were in bed with me, your ex-husband turns up, and you just go chasing off after him, okay? And you've been avoiding me ever since.
Sami: I don't know what to say. I mean, what am I supposed to say? I don't have any answers, E.J.
E.J.: I'm not expecting you to have all the answers, Samantha. That's why I want to have this conversation.
Sami: Okay, but first we have to have a conversation about something else.
E.J.: Okay. What?
Sami: I was talking to Lucas this morning, and...he basically said that one of us has to move out. E.J., it can't be me.

John: I'm talking about you protecting your little brother, detective. Why hasn't he been arrested for torching my goods?
Steve: In case you're forgetting, it wasn't long ago your life was in danger.
Stephanie: Yeah, because of you.
Philip: Tell me what you need.
Nicole: What I need is protection.
