Philip: What are you doing?
Chloe: Getting the rest of my stuff.
Philip: Hey, I wish you would have told me you were...here. I would have had somebody help you.
Chloe: I didn't want to bother you.
Philip: You're gonna hurt yourself. What do you have in here, bricks? How many more are there?
Chloe: This is it. All right...your house key.
Philip: Come on, Chloe.
Chloe: Tell Victor I didn't have any duplicates made.
Philip: Please keep it.
Chloe: What, so I can come in for midnight booty calls? I don't think that would go over very well with your dad.
Philip: You're keeping it. I don't want any arguments. I'm sorry.
Chloe: Yeah, so am I.
Philip: I missed you last night.
Chloe: I missed you, too. But you have to pick your battles, and, apparently, I'm not worth fighting for.
Lucas: Well, the sooner, the better. So, what? We're talking a half-hour? All right, fine, 45 minutes. Yeah, I got the money. Yeah, man, cash -- just like you said.
Sami: What do you need money for?
John: Hello? Ava, what can I do for you? Well, of course the offer still stands. How about 7:30 tonight at my mansion? That sounds perfect. Goodbye. I wasn't sure you were gonna show.
Paul: Why, because of rumors about the drug bust? That's all they are, John. Just rumors.
John: Well, I don't know, Paul. My sources tell me that you've been associating with Philip Kiriakis.
Paul: Well, your sources are wrong.
John: Well, then, somebody's lying. I don't like liars, so I'm going to give you one chance to come clean. Are you the one who planted those drugs on my ship?
Stephanie: Hey, Pete.
Pete: Hey, Steph.
Stephanie: Usual question -- where's Max?
Pete: He had to run to the bank, but he should be back any minute, though.
Stephanie: Okay, thanks.
Stephanie: Dean Robbins.
Dean Robbins: Hey, Stephanie.
Stephanie: I really enjoyed your speech last night. I mean, it was so --
Dean Robbins: Boring?
Stephanie: No. No. It was just over my head.
Dean Robbins: What, are you telling me you're not interested in cold fusion and nuclear power?
Stephanie: It's not that I'm not interested. I mean, I am completely behind anything that can get us away from fossil fuels. See? I did learn something.
Dean Robbins: Yeah, well, maybe if I had presented it in a 3-minute video, you would have gotten more, right?
Max: Hey, what the hell are you doing here?
Philip: Of course you're worth fighting for.
Chloe: If that were the case, I wouldn't be moving out.
Philip: Chloe, don't do this.
Chloe: You know what? I've got to go. I don't want Victor to come home and find me here.
Philip: So what if he does?
Chloe: Uh, he'd go ballistic. Not only would he be mad at me, he'd be mad at you.
Philip: My Father is being totally unreasonable about this.
Chloe: I'll be fine. Obviously, your relationship with your father is more important than your relationship with me.
Philip: You know, you're the one who said you were gonna move out.
Chloe: Because all you and your dad do is fight about it. But you didn't try to stop me.
Philip: That doesn't mean I wanted you to go.
Chloe: Look, I didn't come here to argue with you.
Philip: After you left yesterday, I made it clear to my Father he can't control who I date.
Chloe: But still, I'm gone. Victor despises me, and now after this whole thing with Brady, he's never gonna change his mind. And I wouldn't want to come between you and your dad.
Philip: There's a lot more going on than you realize. Are we still on for dinner tonight?
Chloe: I'm looking forward to it.
Philip: So am I.
Paul: I didn't plant any drugs, John. You know, I could ask you the same thing.
John: I'm not in the narcotics business. But Victor Kiriakis was...a real kingpin in his day, and you know what they say -- the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Paul: Yeah. Well, I don't know the Kiriakis kid all that well. Oh, come on, John. Look, you really think I'd take that kind of risk? I was lucky to survive the grand jury.
John: You were lucky, all right, 'cause I was in your corner. And sometimes I think you may have forgotten that, Paul.
Paul: No, I didn't forget. I remember. Do you? Because I could have dropped the dime on you a dozen times and I didn't because we're in this together. We trust each other.
John: I hope I don't find out that you've been lying to me.
Paul: You won't.
John: That's good. Because that would be a big mistake.
Paul: John --
Morgan: [Clears throat] Just what are we talking about?
Lucas: Uh, yeah, give me a deep dish -- sausage, pepperoni. Throw in some breadsticks, too, would you? All right, thank you. What, a little afternoon snack. I'm hungry. Um...so, things are kind of peaceful around here today. Haven't seen the big Brit yet.
Sami: He's working.
Lucas: Oh, yeah? What, is he meeting with some more clients like Nicole?
Sami: Well, Nicole is not his only client.
Lucas: Should put an ankle monitor on him. That way, you could tell just how much time he's spending with the gold digger.
Sami: Why should I care what he does?
Lucas: Well, he is your husband, isn't he?
Sami: Soon-to-be ex-husband.
Lucas: Yeah, we'll see.
Sami: Lucas. Oh, come on, Lucas, wait. Look...I know I said horrible things to you, okay? I was upset. And you were supposed to be watching Allie, and you let her wander off.
Lucas: I only turned my back for a second, Sami.
Sami: That's all it takes.
Lucas: I know that, but she wandered off beyond the perimeter. What was I supposed to do, just let her walk the streets?
Sami: Of course not. But listen to yourself. I mean, she really could have been hurt.
Lucas: That's why you're here right now? 'Cause you don't trust me with Allie anymore?
Sami: No, of course I trust you. I want us to work together with Allie. I don't want us to fight anymore. And...that's what I wanted to tell you, except, for then, I got a call from the police department saying that you had been arrested and that Allie was with social services, and I sort of lost it.
Lucas: I understand that. I probably would have done the same thing. Could we drop it now, please? I understand I made a mistake.
Sami: Lucas...I want us to be together. I want us to be a family with Allie.
Lucas: What about Johnny? There's always E.J., too. You got to make some kind of choice here, Sami.
Sami: I have made my choice. I choose you. I love you. You're right. We have all made mistakes, Lucas. Can't we just get past that?
Lucas: I'm sorry, but I don't fool around with married women.
Max: Get out.
Dean Robbins: I hope this isn't how you treat all your customers.
Max: Well, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
Stephanie: He doesn't mean that.
Max: Like hell I don't.
Dean Robbins: So you're asking me to leave?
Max: No, I'm telling you.
Dean Robbins: Huh. I'd like a word with your manager.
Max: You're looking at him.
Dean Robbins: Isn't that convenient?
Max: Yeah. You know, to be honest, I would have thought this place was a little too blue-collar for a distinguished scientist such as yourself.
Dean Robbins: Well, I didn't come here for the food. I came to see you, the young man who had the audacity to discredit my book.
Dean Robbins: Oh, yeah. After the book signing, he came back in and insulted me, my theorems, and the entire premise of my book.
Max: Well, you see, Steph, this guy is a total fraud.
Dean Robbins: Tell me, how is it that a guy who pours beer for a living thinks he knows the first thing about forward-thinking scientific applications?
Max: Do I have to spell it out for you? Get the hell out, and I don't ever want to see you here again.
Dean Robbins: Hmm. The problem with young people today -- they know everything. Nice seeing you again, Steph.
Stephanie: Why are you acting like this?
Max: 'Cause you heard the guy. He thinks I'm some kind of brain-dead bartender.
Stephanie: Why don't you tell him the truth?
Sami: I love you. Why are you pushing me away?
Lucas: Believe me, I want you. I want everything we talked about. I want a big family and a nice house, but I didn't think E.J. was gonna be a part of the picture.
Sami: He is not. It is over between us.
Lucas: Maybe in your eyes, but not his.
Sami: Lucas, you are my future. I love you. I want to grow old with you.
Lucas: Yeah, I wanted that, too, but now...
Sami: But what about our plan?
Lucas: What, our Florida plans?
Sami: Yeah, come on. Don't you remember how much we talked about how we were gonna break the mold? We're gonna be that old couple that still has dinner after 8:00 and still wears denim instead of polyester.
Lucas: Wake boarding instead of shuffle boarding.
Sami: We can have that. Lucas, we can make our dreams come true.
Lucas: I'm sorry, Sami. I just don't see how that's possible anymore.
Paul: Hey, honey.
Paul: You know my friend John.
Morgan: I wish you wouldn't call him that.
Morgan: I'm sorry. Where are my manners? It is so nice to see you again, Mr. Black.
John: Pleasure's all mine.
Morgan: So, what were you two talking about? If you don't mind me asking.
Paul: Of course not. I was just thanking John for all the hard work he's put in for me. I'm a free man because of this guy.
John: And with any luck, you'll be back in your old job in no time.
Paul: I like the sound of that.
Morgan: Daddy, I was kind of hoping you'd get a new job. You know, something a little less stressful.
Paul: I got to have a good-paying job. I mean, college doesn't come free these days.
Morgan: Well, then, you know what? Let me help. I could apply for some student loans, maybe get a part-time job. I mean, maybe even Mom could --
Paul: No. No. My Dad provided for my education, and I plan to do the same for you.
Morgan: I appreciate that, Daddy, but honestly --
Paul: Hey, hey. Let your old man worry about this, all right? Trust me.
Morgan: I do. It's just not everybody is as trustworthy as you are.
John: Is there a problem?
Morgan: As a matter of fact, there is.
Paul: Morgan. Morgan.
John: No, no, no, no. Let her talk.
Morgan: Mr. Black, I would appreciate it if you stayed away from my Father.
John: That's touching. I don't have that kind of bond with my daughter.
Morgan: I'm serious. I've asked you several times, and I really would like it if you respected my wishes. Stay away from my Father.
John: As you wish. Daddy's all yours.
Paul: Morgan...that was completely unnecessary. You know, I can take care of myself.
Morgan: That's just it, Daddy. I'm not sure that you can.
Chloe: I... I really have to go.
Philip: Well, here. Let me take care of your room and whatever else you need.
Philip: Come on, Chloe.
Chloe: I already got my first alimony check from Brady. I'm fine.
Philip: Yeah, but that money's gonna disappear pretty quickly at 200 bucks a night for a hotel room.
Chloe: That's only until I find an apartment or something.
Philip: I thought you were looking for a house.
Chloe: Yeah, there's this little problem I have. It's called a down payment.
Philip: How much do you need?
Chloe: Stop it, Philip.
Philip: Hey, you wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for me.
Chloe: I never planned on living here forever. And as far as rentals go, I've already looked at a few places near the university.
Philip: No, no, no. You're not gonna do that.
Chloe: It's not that bad.
Philip: Chloe, you wouldn't last one week down there.
Chloe: You make it sound like a war zone.
Philip: I just think you should consider what you're getting yourself into.
Chloe: It's not like I'm gonna sign a long-term lease. I mean, who knows? I might be gone soon.
Philip: You're not seriously thinking about moving away.
Chloe: If I don't find a job here, then why not? [Cellphone ringing]
Philip: We'll figure something out, okay? Hey, I got to take this. Yeah, hold on a second.
Stephanie: Look, he had no right to treat you that way, but I think you should have told him the truth.
Max: Why should I care what a pompous ass like him thinks?
Stephanie: I think you do care. Otherwise, you wouldn't be so upset. Look, if you're not gonna say something, maybe I will.
Max: No. I swear, if you say anything, Steph --
Stephanie: Okay. I'm not gonna say anything. I just -- I don't understand why you're being so secretive and closed off about this stuff.
Max: Because it's not the right time.
Stephanie: When is it gonna be the right time? Max, you could be doing so much with your life. That didn't come out right.
Max: So working here at the pub, following in my Father's footsteps, that's not good enough? You know what? I'm happy with my life the way it is.
Stephanie: Are you?
Stephanie: Are you really happy right now? Because it sure doesn't seem like it. Look, something is obviously upsetting you, and it's more than this science stuff. I think it's personal. Come on, max. Talk to me, please? Maybe I can help.
Max: Look, I have beers to pour.
Philip: Do you know what's on the disk? What do you mean "brain waves"? Well, find out, damn it. We don't have the luxury of time.
Morgan: I'm sorry to barge in like this, but I just did not know where else to turn.
Philip: What's going on?
Morgan: It's John Black. Someone needs to stop that man.
Sami: So, that's it? You're just gonna give up on us?
Lucas: I don't see the point in discussing this anymore. At least not until DiMera's dropped from your last name.
Sami: The divorce is in the works.
Lucas: Just not good enough, Sami.
Sami: You don't trust me.
Lucas: I don't trust E.J. and if he's the one handling your divorce, you can bet something's gonna happen, . It always does.
Sami: I'm not stupid, all right? I'm gonna make sure Mickey looks at every single piece of paper.
Lucas: Well, great. Fine. But until it's final, until I see it in writing, you and I have nothing more to discuss. Forget it.
John: How's my favorite stepdaughter? I'm so glad you're here. I need a woman's feedback. Tell me -- which of these... releases your feminine desires?
Sami: Excuse me?
John: Come on, I won't bite. Aah! [Laughs]
Sami: God. [Sniffs] [Sniffs] [Clears throat] Uh, tha-- that one's better.
John: Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing. It's got that musky thing going on, right? Happy Birthday, kid.
Sami: So, why are you trying on [Coughs] colognes?
John: Well, for my hot date tonight.
Sami: Your what?
John: This stuff's supposed to be an aphrodisiac, at least that's what the salesgirl said. "Instant sex appeal" -- I believe those were her exact words.
Sami: You can't be serious. You're married.
John: I could say the same for you.
Lucas: That's a good point.
Sami: Stop it.
John: Now, I'll have no bickering when my lady friend arrives. We're gonna want some privacy. Getting my drift?
Sami: Every man in here is completely insane!
Max: Where were you? What is that?
Stephanie: Before you get upset --
Max: You took this from my room?
Stephanie: Who is she?
Max: I thought we trusted each other.
Stephanie: We do. I'm sorry, okay? It's just you've been so closed off lately --
Max: So what, that gives you the right to go through my things?
Stephanie: I said I was sorry.
Max: You know what? You should go.
Stephanie: Wait. Who is she?
Max: We are not having this discussion now.
Stephanie: You wouldn't have had that picture hidden in your bottom drawer if she wasn't important to you.
Max: You want to know who it is? It's my Mom, my real Mom. Are you satisfied?
John: Ah. Get a whiff of that kitchen. Cook has really out done herself.
Lucas: Only thing I get a whiff of is that cologne.
John: Sense of humor. I like that.
Lucas: You really think it's wise to be dating?
John: Ah, it's just dinner. You know, little social intercourse.
Lucas: How do you think that's gonna fly with Marlena?
John: Well, she had her chance. If she can't accept me for who I am, I've got no choice but to move on, and wait till you get an eyeful of this babe. Oh, but I'm sorry. You won't, because you will be upstairs behind a closed door when she gets here, right?
Lucas: Yeah, right. I'll be out of your way.
John: That's good. Same goes for the twins. Because nothing kills a romantic dinner faster than a screaming baby.
Lucas: That's the truth. They're with Caroline.
John: Mm, perfect.
Lucas: I got it. I got it, Rolf. You're good.
Guy: Lucas Horton?
Lucas: You got that thing?
Guy: You got the cash?
Lucas: We got a deal?
Sami: Dinner for one?
Chloe: No, in fact, I'm having dinner with Philip.
Sami: Really? I thought he kicked you out.
Chloe: Who told you that?
Sami: I saw you getting out of the cab just now with all your luggage and everything. It's about time Philip gave you the boot.
Chloe: For your information, I moved out because I wanted to.
Sami: Oh, I'm sure that's true. You wanted to leave that horrible mansion and all those servants and the pool. Who are you kidding, Chloe?
Chloe: I have to go. The meter's running.
Sami: It was only a matter of time, really. In fact, I actually thought it was gonna be Nicole who was voted off the island next.
Chloe: This was my choice.
Sami: If you run into financial problems, you know, you could always sing in the subway. I'm sure people would give you lots of money...to stop.
Chloe: Why are you so mean to me?
Sami: Do you have time for the entire list?
Chloe: I mean, I know that we're not friends, but do you think we can at least be civil?
Sami: What, did you just join a 12-step program?
Chloe: I know you're angry with me because of Brady, but it's not my fault.
Sami: Here we go again.
Chloe: I didn't force him into drugs.
Sami: So you claim.
Chloe: And the second I found out what he was doing, I tried to stop him, but it was too late.
Sami: Right, so you abandoned him and you didn't even tell his family about it? Really, that's a great way to handle an addict, Chloe.
Chloe: I never abandoned Brady. And I'm so sick of everyone making me the villain. Did you ever stop to think about how this affected me? I lost my husband and my home and my career because of his addiction.
Sami: And you found a way to make it all about you.
Chloe: I'm glad that Brady's finally getting help, because no one wants him to get better more than I do.
Sami: You really care about him.
Sami: Then explain to me why you didn't stay in Europe. Why didn't you fight for the man you love, for your marriage?
Morgan: Are you sure I'm not interrupting anything?
Philip: Not at all. What was this about John?
Morgan: I think my Father's working for him. I just ran into them at the Java Café.
Philip: Did you happen to hear what they were talking about?
Morgan: I wish. Whatever it was, though, it looked really important.
Morgan: Look, I'm sorry to come here and bother you with this. I just didn't know where else to go.
Philip: I'm glad you came to me.
Morgan: I tried talking to my Father, but he insists everything's okay. I'm really worried about him, Philip.
Philip: It's okay. We'll figure something out.
Morgan: I mean, he's really desperate right now, and the divorce has him completely drained and John knows it. He's taking complete advantage of him.
Philip: Well, John does have a lot of money to toss around.
Morgan: There's got to be something we can do. [Cellphone ringing] Don't mind me.
Philip: This will take two seconds, okay? Make it quick.
Paul: John's on to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he's going to the cops.
Philip: Damn it.
Paul: I want the rest of my money.
Philip: Did you say anything that might tip him off?
Paul: No, I didn't say anything. Now, about the rest of my payment.
Philip: Do you really think you deserve it?
Paul: Do I deserve it? I stuck my neck out for you, you little punk. Look, don't you forget I'm the one who planted those drugs on John's ship, so, yeah, I deserve it. You know what? You owe me big-time, Kiriakis.
Max: Look, I have customers.
Stephanie: I'm not leaving until you forgive me.
Max: Get comfortable.
Stephanie: Max, wait. I know I shouldn't have gone through your things, but, at the time, it seemed like a good idea.
Max: Yeah, well, you'd be furious if I did that to you.
Stephanie: I know. I just -- I thought maybe I could find something that could help me understand why you're so angry at Dean Robbins. But all I found was that picture. Can I see it again? So, this is your biological mother? Baby must be you.
Max: I guess.
Stephanie: She's really pretty. I think you have her smile. Why don't you tell me about her?
Philip: Hey, look, we're gonna have to talk about this later.
Paul: I want my money, Philip. I want my money!
Philip: I said later. Where were we?
Morgan: I'm sorry. You obviously have work to do. I should have called first.
Philip: Morgan, wait. I'd like you to stay.
Chloe: Brady divorced me, Sami. I didn't want our relationship to end.
Sami: But you didn't do anything to save it, did you? You came home. You came home to cry on Philip's shoulder. Chloe.
Chloe: You know what? You're right about everything. My life is a train wreck, and I have no one to blame but myself. Well, what do you have to say? Come on, just -- now's your big chance. Let it rip.
Sami: It's not as tempting when you're expecting it.
Chloe: [Sighs] Maybe I should leave town. I don't know. Maybe if I would have tried harder with Brady, I could have made it work.
Sami: I talked to him last week.
Chloe: You did? How's he doing?
Sami: He sounded good.
Chloe: I've tried to reach him, but he won't take my calls. I guess it really is over. And even though the divorce went through, there was a part of me that was hoping he would come back. I guess that's not gonna happen, though, is it? You know what? Uh, I just want him to be happy. That's all I really want. [Sighs] Uh, I should go. My cab is waiting for me. Oh, um...one more thing -- if you talk to Brady again, would you tell him I said hi?
Chloe: And also, if I were you, I would try to work things out with Lucas. Not everyone gets a second chance.
Sami: Yeah, you're right. And you were right all along, that no matter what happens, our love is strong enough to make it through.
Lucas: Can you run that by me again?
Sami: Our love is strong enough to get us through anything.
Lucas: No, no, the part where you said I was right.
Lucas: That's what I want to hear. I want to hear that part again. Write that down.
Sami: All right.
Lucas: You don't have to count it. It's all there.
Guy: Just making sure. It's a pleasure doing business with you.
Stephanie: If you don't want to talk about her, I completely understand.
Max: It's strange, but this picture's all I have left. I was really young when they put me in the foster home, so I don't have many memories of my real Mom. Just kind of the ones I created.
Stephanie: What do you mean?
Max: Well, I remember going to the park, you know, the two of us, and we'd play a little. You know, we'd have a little picnic. And then I'd ask her to push me on the merry-go-round. And she always said, "not after eating, 'cause you'll get sick." And I was just like any other kid. I wouldn't take no for an answer, so I might have thrown a tantrum or two. And instead of getting upset, she'd, uh, take me for ice cream on the way home. And I guess it was kind of bribery -- I don't know -- but it seemed to do the trick.
Stephanie: That's really sweet.
Max: Yeah. See, the thing is, though, I've -- I've played that memory, like, over and over in my mind for so long now that I don't know if it's real or if I just want it to be.
Stephanie: It doesn't matter, if it makes you happy.
Max: I know, but I just want to know the little things, you know, like what her favorite foods were, what her hobbies were, what kind of music she liked, if she had that adventurous streak that she passed down to me. I don't know. This picture's -- you know, it just shows what's on the outside.
Stephanie: And you want to know what's on the inside.
Stephanie: Maybe we can find her. I mean, people do this all the time.
John: I heard you when you came in, but I was really hoping that you would just stay upstairs.
Sami: I just put the twins down.
John: I can't believe you brought the rug rats home. They're supposed to be hanging at the pub with Caroline.
Sami: I really don't think you should do this, John. It's gonna upset my Mom. She's going through a lot right now, trying to help Eric.
John: I have given your mom plenty of chances. But a man like me...has basic needs. So, what do you think? Lose a few buttons, show a little chest hair?
Sami: John, you're making a big mistake.
John: "Big mistake"? I thought you ladies liked that.
Philip: Sorry. I would like you to stay. That is, if you don't already have plans -- sorority stuff or a date maybe.
Morgan: Well, all the girls went home for the summer. And as far as a date, well, past few months, it's been a little bit of a guy drought.
Philip: I find that hard to believe. Pretty southern belle like you?
Morgan: Okay, if we were at a bar and you came up to me and said that --
Philip: What, you wouldn't have even given me the time of day, would you?
Morgan: Probably not.
Philip: You need to learn how to take a compliment.
Morgan: Oh, is that what that was?
Philip: All right, if you won't accept a compliment, will you at least accept a drink?
Morgan: Okay, one drink between friends.
Stephanie: You should think about it. I mean, maybe your mom is trying to find you, or maybe she wants you to find her.
Max: Don't even go there.
Stephanie: It could make things awkward with Grandma. I'm sorry -- bad idea.
Max: Look, you can't tell anyone about this, okay? Not even Chelsea.
Stephanie: I'm not. I'm just glad you finally opened up to me.
Stephanie: Don't you feel so much better now that you have that off your chest? No more secrets, right?
Max: No more secrets.
Morgan: I feel kind of weird about this.
Morgan: Well, I mean, I don't think your girlfriend would really approve of us having drinks together.
Philip: My girlfriend?
Morgan: Yeah, that really pretty brunet I met the other day at the pub.
Morgan: I mean, if you were my man, I wouldn't exactly approve of you having drinks with another woman.
Philip: Hold on a second. I thought this was just between friends.
Morgan: It is.
Philip: So what's the big deal?
Morgan: I guess it's not.
Philip: And if you're up for it, maybe we can even try dinner sometime.
Sami: John, have you seen Lucas?
John: I didn't hear any alarms. He's got to be around here somewhere.
Sami: Thanks. Lucas? Hey, Lucas, are you in the kitchen?
John: Shh! Easy. I want him out of sight. And the same goes for you, Tink.
Sami: Belle's the one you used to call Tink.
John: Okay. [Cellphone vibrating]
Sami: Great. Lucas, where are you? What the hell? Oh, my God.
Stephanie: I don't get it. What does the Professor of the Physics Department have to do with you?
Chloe: You and I could form an alliance. Kind of like "I got your back if you got mine" type of deal.
John: Does the fact that I'm married bother you?
Ava: Well, that depends. Do you still love her?
