Kayla: I need to see my baby. He wasn't breathing.
Steve: Listen, sweetness, now, let's just try to calm down for a minute. Let Lexie and Dr. Elman talk to us. Now, tell us what's happening with our boy. We need to know.
Lexie: Okay, the baby has been taken to NICU and is on a ventilator.
Kayla: I-I need to go there.
Dr. Elman: No, no, Kayla, Kayla, you just gave birth after a difficult labor. Stay put.
Steve: Sweetness, come on. You can't get out of bed.
Kayla: No, I-I need to go. I need to go be with him. Don't you understand?
Lexie: I do. I understand. You're scared, but trust us -- there's nothing you can do right now.
Dr. Elman: Your baby is receiving the best possible care.
Lexie: And you need to rest.
Kayla: No, I need to be with him.
Steve: Sweetness, look at me. Lexie's right. You need to rest.
Kayla: No, but I'm his mother. I'm his mother, and I know what's best for him.
Lexie: And it is my job to know what's best for everyone.
Steve: Listen, baby, here's what I'm gonna do -- I'm gonna go down there and see our baby boy. And I'm gonna come straight back and tell you about him.
Lexie: Sorry, Steve. You can't go, either.
Chelsea: Dad, look, I know that you both wish you could be here, but there's nothing that you can do.
Max: Here you go.
Stephanie: Thank you.
Max: So, how are you doing?
Stephanie: I know Lexie and Dr. Elman are great doctors, but I don't know if they're enough.
Max: Hey, look, the baby's in intensive care with a team of doctors and nurses. They specialize in taking care of premies.
Stephanie: We're gonna need a huge miracle to help my little brother through this. Do you know where Daniel is?
Stephanie: Because he was really great at helping out you and your dad when you were sick, and I was hoping maybe he could do the same for my little brother.
Doctor: Daniel, hey, man.
Daniel: Hey, what's up, dude?
Doctor: Not much. I thought you were heading off to the sunshine coast.
Daniel: I'm already there in my mind, man. Correct me if I'm wrong, that's your speciality, right? You work with Marlena Evans? Crafty -- that one.
Doctor: Her husband's a very interesting case.
Daniel: I don't know much about that.
Doctor: I'll tell you about it sometime. But I heard you turned down the offer to join the staff and were leaving Salem for good.
Mickey: [Chuckles] Thanks for seeing me.
Lucas: The con always wants to see his lawyer, Uncle Mickey.
Mickey: Well, I know you're not accepting a lot of visitors.
Lucas: Would you want your family seeing you like this?
Mickey: I don't know. I just know Sami and Allie need you.
Lucas: Why? Did something happen?
Mickey: No, they're fine. You're the reason I'm here.
Lucas: Me? Why?
Mickey: How'd you like to get out of Statesville and go home?
Lucas: Back up for a second. What do you mean get out of here and go home?
Mickey: I know this comes out of left field, but --
Lucas: I waived my right to a trial. Uncle Mickey, I pled guilty. They gave me 10 years for shooting E.J.
Mickey: Are you finished? Sit down. Seems to be an issue of overcrowding in the state prison system, and some first offenders like yourself are being reviewed for conditional release.
Lucas: So they're just gonna let me out of here?
Mickey: No. If my petition is approved by the warden, a judge, and the D.A. -- and it is a big if -- your release is conditional. You just have to wear an ankle monitor and be under house arrest. [Chuckles]
Lucas: So they won't be wiping the slate clean.
Mickey: No, this isn't a release or reduction in sentence. You're still considered a felon, and you can end up right back in here. So, what do you say? Are you interested?
Lucas: Hell, yeah. You know I am. Get me out of here.
Daniel: Lexie keeps tossing me these high-risk cases, so it's like one thrilling challenge leads to another.
Doctor: And you never left.
Daniel: No, not yet.
Doctor: Then maybe you should think about sticking around permanently. You know, in your short time here, you've become something of a legend.
Daniel: I'm just loving the rush, man.
Doctor: Now you're being modest. No one could stop talking about the partial pancreatic transplant you pulled off.
Daniel: Thank you.
Doctor: Well, look, man, if I don't see you around...
Daniel: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, hold on a second. Let me ask you something. How do you, um -- how do you do it? How do you stay in one place?
Chelsea: I don't know where Daniel is, but I don't really think that pediatrics is his specialty.
Stephanie: It couldn't hurt to ask. I mean, maybe he can help.
Chelsea: Maybe. But, look, don't you think that Lexie or somebody would call him if they thought they needed him?
Stephanie: I just don't want to stand around and do nothing.
Max: Hey, hey, I know how upsetting this is for you.
Stephanie: I just want him to be okay.
Max: I know, but, look, if Lexie and your mom's doctor think that they need help, they'd call in anyone they have to, but until then, you need to let them do their thing, okay? All right?
Steve: Why can't I go see my boy?
Lexie: Right now, the lung specialist is running tests, trying to get the baby breathing on his own. And until those tests are complete, he'll have to remain in a sterile environment inside the incubator.
Kayla: What were his apgars?
Lexie: I'd rather not tell you.
Kayla: Why not?
Lexie: Because I know you, Kayla. You'll read too much into it. The only thing you need to know is that your baby is in excellent hands, and as chief of staff, I will be monitoring everything that happens in NICU.
Dr. Elman: We just need you to get some rest.
Kayla: I can't rest, not until I know that my baby's okay.
Steve: You have to stay in bed, Kayla.
Kayla: You know what? I don't care what any of you say. I am going down there.
Steve: No, sweetness, no. No, no. No.
Chelsea: Look, I'm gonna go call the rest of the family and let them know what's going on with the baby, all right?
Stephanie: Wait. Um, just tell them that he was born prematurely and is in an incubator. I don't want to worry them by telling them he might not make it.
Stephanie: And I don't think my mom can handle the company, so...
Chelsea: Come here. It's gonna be fine.
Chelsea: Okay, I'm gonna go. Take good care of her. I'll be back.
Stephanie: What if my little brother doesn't make it?
Max: Hey, hey, hey, hey. You know as well as I do that that kid is a fighter. I mean, look at your mom, your dad. Look at you.
Stephanie: I'm sorry. That doesn't make me feel any better.
Max: Well, it should. Because with all the Bradys, the Hortons, the Johnsons -- with everybody praying for that kid, there is no way that that kid is not gonna make it, okay?
Steve: Kayla, you need to stay put.
Kayla: No, I need to go down there. I don't care what any of you say. You're not stopping me.
Dr. Elman: Kayla, if you don't stay in bed, I will sedate you.
Lexie: Janet's right. You won't be any good to the baby if you start hemorrhaging and go into shock. You need bed rest.
Steve: Sweetness, do this for me and for our baby. You stay in bed.
Dr. Elman: Look, as soon as the baby is stable and breathing on his own, you can both go sit with him. I promise.
Steve: Yeah, we haven't heard anything in a while. What's going on?
Lexie: These tests take time. As soon as there is any news, they'll let us know.
Dr. Elman: And I don't want you to assume that means something is wrong.
Lexie: Why don't I go check on the status?
Steve: Thanks, Lexie.
Dr. Elman: Listen, I'd like to examine Kayla and make sure her uterus is contracting. Steve, why don't you take a break, get a cup of coffee or something?
Steve: No, I'm staying right here.
Kayla: No, it's okay. It's okay.
Steve: Okay. I'll be right outside. I love you.
Lucas: So, it's not a done deal yet.
Mickey: I petitioned the court on your behalf before it was turned down. It seems that the first wave of prisoners to be released on house arrest were nonviolent offenders.
Lucas: So I'm on a waiting list.
Mickey: Like I said, you have to be approved, but I'm very hopeful.
Lucas: It's pretty early in my sentencing.
Mickey: It is early, but you're not a threat to society. And your psych report came back clean.
Lucas: I shot E.J., didn't I?
Mickey: You also stepped up and confessed, took responsibility. That's all in your favor.
Lucas: So you're telling me this could be happening.
Mickey: I'm telling you that prisons are overcrowded, and there's a rumor that one of the facilities will be shut down due to budget cuts.
Lucas: Why didn't you tell me about this sooner?
Mickey: I didn't want to get your hopes up. But I really feel good about this petition being granted. There is one thing that I'm worried about.
Lucas: Aunt Maggie. Mickey, you didn't tell me she was here. What are you doing here?
Maggie: He didn't tell you I was being patted down by the guards?
Lucas: Why, you got a big metal file in there for me?
Maggie: Better. Alice's doughnuts.
Lucas: You don't?
Maggie: I do.
Lucas: Give me one, come on.
Maggie: They've been x-rayed, bruised, and beaten by the guards, and this dog named jaws, a narcotic dog, is sniffing them for a possible stash. Me -- are you kidding? So I'm not sure you're even gonna want to eat them after all that.
Lucas: Let's have it. I've been on prison food. I want this dou-- please. Come on.
Maggie: Okay, okay, okay. Go head.
Lucas: Oh, these are the best in the world.
Lucas: Thank Gran for me.
Maggie: I will. You look good. Oh, we miss you so much. I can't begin to tell you. Everyone sends you their love.
Lucas: Yeah. Even Sami?
E.J.: Samantha, hi.
Sami: I was, uh, just going to check on the twins.
E.J.: Oh, well, you don't need to bother. Actually, I just did, and they both are sleeping soundly.
Sami: Oh. Good.
E.J.: Look...about what happened between us...
Sami: I don't want to talk about that.
E.J.: Well...I think we should talk about it.
Sami: Look, it's nothing, okay? We were just acting crazy and stupid.
E.J.: I'm not talking about our kiss. I'm talking about our conversation. I think before anything else happens between us, I need to know why it is that you want to wipe the slate clean.
Sami: Because what you said makes sense. You're right. We all need to move on, let it go, and that's the end of the story.
E.J.: Samantha, stop. Stop acting like this. I know what you're doing.
Sami: Acting like what?
E.J.: Samantha, you're afraid that if you give this a chance, it might actually work out. Look, the kiss was amazing. It was great, but I don't want to mess this up, okay? I'm ready to move forward, and if you're ready to move forward, that's the best news I've ever heard. But I do need to know why.
Sami: Look, it's nothing, okay? It's not that big a deal. It's just that I agree with you, and I just don't think we should rehash this.
E.J.: I'm sorry, Samantha, but my concern is that you don't have a reason. And I'm concerned you don't have a reason because that would suggest that maybe you're avoiding talking about this.
Sami: I have a perfectly good reason.
E.J.: What is it?
Sami: Look, when you -- when you told me what you were thinking that night, it made me realize that...I've been there myself.
Steve: Thanks, baby. Yeah, well, your mama's pretty upset because they won't let us see the baby until he has a bunch more tests.
Stephanie: How are you doing?
Steve: I'm hanging in.
Stephanie: And the fact that we haven't heard anything?
Steve: It's not necessarily bad. You know the old saying.
Stephanie: No news is good news.
Steve: That's right.
Dr. Elman: Steve, can I have a word, please?
Steve: Absolutely. Oh, it's all right. He's family. So, how's she doing?
Dr. Elman: Kayla's exhausted and needs to get her blood count up. She's not happy about it, but I gave her something to help her relax and put her on 24-hour bed rest. Look, I-I understand how worried you must be, but I need you and your family to focus on Kayla and let our staff focus on your baby.
Steve: We can do that.
Dr. Elman: Okay, I'll be back as soon as I have any news.
Steve: Thanks a lot.
Dr. Elman: Of course.
Steve: You know, I'm gonna go back in.
Stephanie: Yeah, I want to go with you.
Max: Is there anything I can do for you guys?
Steve: Well, you can keep the coffee coming.
Max: You got it, man.
Nick: I've been looking for you everywhere.
Max: What's up?
Nick: What the hell did you do to my papers, Max?
Doctor: Well, look, I can't advise you on that, but I can tell you, University can use a surgeon like you.
Daniel: No, no, no, no. Don't get confused. I'm not joining the staff here.
Doctor: [Chuckles] Tell that to Lexie. She'll find a way to twist your arm.
Daniel: She can try, but I'm not sure how long I'm gonna be sticking around.
Doctor: I get it. Not sure if you want to settle down in one place. Salem's got a lot to offer.
Daniel: Well, let's just say I got a little unfinished business.
Doctor: Uh-huh. What's her name?
Daniel: [Chuckles] No, no, no name. Just something I can't walk away from, that's all.
Doctor: Hey, fair enough, man.
Daniel: All right. You be good, doctor. Take care, man.
Chelsea: Daniel? Are you in here?
Maggie: So, why wouldn't Sami send you her love?
Lucas: Let's just say she's not that happy with me right now.
Mickey: Yeah, roman told me.
Maggie: Well, nobody told me. Something happened?
Lucas: I guess, yeah. I mean, you could say that. Sami wanted to come visit me here, and I denied her request.
Lucas: Why? Because I want to protect her. That's why.
Maggie: From what? She loves you.
Lucas: I know she loves me. That's why I don't want her to see me like this. She'd never be able to get the image out of her head.
Maggie: But it's not up to you, is it? If she wants to come here, you should let her.
Mickey: Maggie's right, Lucas. She could have even brought Allie.
Lucas: I don't want my daughter anywhere near this place, Mickey.
Maggie: So it's not about this place. It's about her getting to spend some time with you.
Lucas: You know what? This isn't open for debate. I'm sorry. I know what's best for my daughter and Sami. Now, if I'm transferred from here, it'll only prove that I'm doing the right thing.
Maggie: You're a damn fool.
E.J.: What exactly do you mean?
Sami: You reminded me of Austin.
E.J.: Wow, I wasn't expecting that.
Sami: Yeah. Well, when you said that...you thought that if we were together, I would realize that I was in love with you, and... it reminded me that I thought the same thing once. Well, you've seen how crazy I can get about Austin. And, um...what you saw wasn't even the worst thing I ever did to him. Not by a long shot.
E.J.: Go on.
Sami: Well, uh...a really long time ago...I guess you could say that I...forced myself on him. I, um -- I put a drug in his drink.
Sami: And I remember feeling so...justified. I felt so sure that after we made love, he would realize that I was the one he wanted to be with. Obviously, he didn't fall in love with me, and, uh, actually, I...just about ruined his life. Anyway, Austin...he eventually forgave me. So what kind of person would I be if I couldn't forgive you?
Chelsea: [Exhales deeply] Oh! Uh, I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to, um --
Daniel: Uh, no. No worries. No worries. What are you doing here, other than just, uh, checking me out?
Chelsea: [Chuckles] Uh... I'm sorry. You know, I-I probably should not be in here.
Daniel: Uh, it is for hospital staff, but, you know, don't worry about it. It's co-ed.
Chelsea: Yeah, isn't that weird?
Daniel: Well, last time I came breezing out of the shower completely naked, I about gave Dr. Goldright a heart attack, so, yeah, a little weird. You got your hair cut. Nice.
Chelsea: Yeah. I just w-wanted a change. Thank you.
Daniel: No, it's hot.
Daniel: So, uh, so, what's up?
Chelsea: Um, I-I actually -- I wanted to ask you a favor.
Daniel: All right. Shoot.
Chelsea: I was wondering if you could, uh, check in on Kayla Johnson's baby.
Daniel: Oh, yeah. Yeah. I heard he was born prematurely.
Chelsea: Yeah, it's just everyone's really worried, and I thought that maybe you could help.
Daniel: Well, not really my area of expertise. The neo team here is pretty top-notch. Uh, you can look -- you can look now. It's okay. [Chuckles]
Chelsea: I just wanted to see if you could help.
Daniel: Well, uh, the baby was born too early. It's not like he's suffering from a disease. So there's nothing I can really do that they're not already doing. But that's not the only reason you're here.
Chelsea: No. Um, I actually wanted to talk to you about something else.
Steve: So, Dr. Elman said she gave you a sedative. You feel a little bit better?
Kayla: I'm just so worried.
Stephanie: You need to let the doctors take care of the baby.
Steve: That's right, and we'll take care of you.
Kayla: Do you realize that little guy's down there on a ventilator?
Steve: Yeah. Don't get yourself all worked up again, though, sweetness.
Kayla: All the problems that he could be facing, and we -- we can't be there with him, to hold him and --
Steve: It's okay. It's okay.
Stephanie: We should think about something positive.
Steve: That's a good idea.
Stephanie: Like names.
Steve: Names -- you mean baby names?
Steve: Yeah, that's a great idea. Your mama and I were talking about names, but we didn't decide on anything yet, did we? Do you have any ideas?
Stephanie: No, but my little brother needs a name... and I have a really fun way to decide on one.
Max: This is not a good time, Nick.
Nick: I need some answers.
Max: I swear, I did nothing to your proposal papers except for dry them out and rewrite them.
Nick: Well, you also put them in an envelope and mailed them to the administration building.
Max: So what? Who cares how they got there? Did you get your grant money?
Nick: Yeah, I did.
Max: Okay, good. Then why are you so upset? Everything worked out the way you wanted it.
Nick: Because I'm not sure it was my work, Max.
Maggie: Lucas, you can't shut Sami out like that.
Lucas: I don't want to, Maggie. At the time, I just thought it was best.
Mickey: Hopefully this will all be moot. If we can manage Lucas' release, he'll get to spend plenty of time with Allie and Sami.
Maggie: Well, I know Sami would be thrilled to have you back.
Lucas: I just hope this works. When -- when do you think I can get out of here?
Mickey: I don't have a time frame, but if the warden approves it and the judge and D.A. sign off on it, you could be home as early as tonight.
E.J.: Wow. I'll tell you, out of all of this, I never expected that we'd end up having something in common.
Sami: Look, we both want to move on, right? We both learned a lot since then, and so I say we strike a deal. I will never talk about that night again.
E.J.: Neither will I. I really want to move on, too, not just for myself, but for Johnny, also. It's one of the reasons I really -- I need you to give me a...bit of a break about my relationship with Nicole.
E.J.: My professional relationship. There's nothing more to it than that.
Sami: Is that what you're calling it?
E.J.: I -- that -- that's it. That's all there is to it.
Sami: Are you sure?
E.J.: Yes. You really are jealous of Nicole, aren't you?
Sami: [Scoffs] Is that why you've been coming on to her, to make me jealous?
E.J.: If I had, would it have worked?
Stephanie: Okay. Mom, your turn to pick one.
Kayla: Why don't you do it for me?
Steve: Yeah? Okay. Uh -- hmm. Sure you want to know?
Kayla: [Chuckling] Yeah.
Kayla: Cosmo Johnson?
Stephanie: I like it.
Kayla: You do?
Stephanie: It kind of sounds like a jazz musician.
Steve: Yeah. Okay.
Kayla: Pick another one.
Steve: Another one?
Stephanie: Let me do it. [Chuckles]
Steve: What's that? Let me see. Spongebob Johnson? What the heck is that?
Stephanie: It's my little brother. Isn't it my job to embarrass him?
Steve: Oh, man.
Stephanie: [Chuckles] Mom, what is it?
Kayla: What if you never get a chance to be his big sister?
Stephanie: Don't talk like that.
Kayla: It's just terrible. He's down there all by himself, and there's nothing we can do about it.
Steve: Sweetness... he's gonna pull through. I promise.
Max: You don't know what you're talking about. I just sent the stuff in.
Nick: I went to the school office. I saw the work you turned in. Some of it didn't look familiar.
Max: So, maybe someone with the school monkeyed around with it. How would I know?
Nick: No, nobody touched it, Max. I asked the professors on the committee. They said nobody changed a word or a number.
Max: I have the original stuff back at the house. Would you like it back?
Max: Then I'll go get it. But think about what you're saying here -- that I might be smart enough to mess with your work and make it look legit? Come on, man. We both know that's not true.
Daniel: Okay. Let her rip.
Chelsea: I was just wondering if you'd come to your senses yet.
Daniel: You mean about us?
Daniel: It's not gonna happen, Chelsea.
Chelsea: You are so in denial.
Daniel: Me? You're not the one giving up.
Chelsea: Why should I give up on something that never even got the chance?
Daniel: And it never will.
Chelsea: Daniel --
Daniel: Chelsea, you're great. You are really great, but that doesn't mean we'd be great together. So it's time -- it's time you just gave it up and moved on.
Lucas: It's just all sinking in, that I might be going home.
Maggie: Yeah, I think it's fantastic.
Mickey: Let's be cautious and hope everyone signs off on it.
Maggie: And why wouldn't they? Lucas has an exemplary record. He's kept his head down and worked hard.
Mickey: My fear is that it was such a high-profile case.
Lucas: Mickey's right. I mean, I shot a guy. I shot him. I know it was wrong, but I still did it.
Maggie: Yeah, but you admitted your guilt. Now, that should be worth something.
Lucas: It's just been hell being in this place.
Maggie: I can only imagine.
Lucas: The worst part's not being with your family. Missing my family is the worst, you know? Not being there for will. It tears me apart I can't be there for Allie.
Maggie: Well, Allie missed you. I mean, she is an amazing baby. Mickey and I spend a lot of time with her. She is so full of life.
Lucas: She's doing good? I bet I'm missing a lot, though, right -- a lot of firsts? My -- my family means everything to me. I really miss being home with them.
Sami: You have no idea how much Nicole drives me insane. She'll do anything to get under my skin, like hitting on you.
E.J.: Samantha, I'm pretty wise to Nicole, all right? She doesn't mean anything to me.
Sami: I believe you... but I know that she will do anything to hurt me, and that's why I don't want you near her.
E.J.: Do you really think she's gonna try and come between us?
Sami: I've seen her work her magic on Lucas...and Austin. They both fell for it.
E.J.: Look, I'm not gonna be played by Nicole. The only person I'm worried about being played by right now is you.
Sami: What are you talking about?
E.J.: Our kiss.
E.J.: Was that really all just to get Nicole, or did you mean it? Samantha, I'm being as honest with you as I know how to be, and all I'm asking is that you tell me where we stand. Did you mean it or not?
Chelsea: You want me to move on? You're the one that's having trouble leaving Salem. Tell me why that is.
Daniel: Why, do you think this is about you, do you? Really, it's just one crazy case after the other, and I can't catch a wave out of here.
Chelsea: Oh, really? It couldn't be because you don't want to? You know, for somebody that says they have a hard time settling down, you sure seem pretty damn grounded.
Daniel: Well, I'm sure you have a point.
Chelsea: Oh, I do. You don't want to leave Salem because of me.
Daniel: You know what? You and I -- we got a little too close, and that would be my bad and not yours. Hell, I'm older. It's my responsibility to walk away from something that's not really particularly cool.
Daniel: Look, all I'm saying is that you don't get it. You haven't even been there yet. You -- you are -- you are just -- you're "mm," right? But with me, it's just --
Chelsea: You know, Daniel, saying that you're older -- it's just another lame excuse. I've been through a lot for someone my age, so mentally I think I'm pretty mature. You, on the other hand -- you're still into the little games, so...
Daniel: Is that what you think? You think I'm playing games? Well, I'm just living my life.
Chelsea: Oh, please. You tell me one minute that you don't want to leave Salem because of me. Then suddenly it's because of your job. Then we can't be together because of your job or your baggage or my age. You're throwing out one empty excuse after another, either because you're afraid to reject me or confront your feelings. So, tell me, which is it? [Chuckles] You know something?
Chelsea: It's not your late wife that has you bogged down. It's your ego. Get over yourself, dude. 'Cause once you do, maybe then we can be together.
Max: Here you go. It's all yours.
Nick: Look, I'm -- I'm sorry I've been kind of crazy. It's just there's a lot of pressure in all this.
Max: Hey, don't sweat it. I should never have turned it in without your permission. From now on, I'm just gonna stick to what I know best -- bartending.
Nick: I don't fully know what's going on here, but I know that you're my friend.
Max: Yeah, I am, all right? So just let it go. Take the kudos and enjoy the ride.
Nick: I wish I could.
Max: Maybe you're taking this out on me because you're afraid of the success. But you know what, Nick? You deserve that success. You deserve it.
Nick: I'm not sure I deserve it. That's the problem.
Max: The important thing is your work -- all right? -- 'cause you're gonna do great things with the environment for us. So don't let a little self-doubt put the brakes on that.
Nick: I'm definitely gonna keep working, but I'm also gonna look this over. And if you're playing me, Max, I'm gonna find out, okay?
Steve: Sweetness, you can't think like that. We're gonna get to see our boy.
Stephanie: Papa's right. As soon as he's breathing on his own, you'll be able to hold him.
Steve: What is it, Lexie?
Guard: The warden and the prison transfer board will see you now, Mr. Horton.
Mickey: Thank you. This could be it.
Maggie: Okay. Good luck.
Sami: Nicole didn't make me do anything. I kissed you because...
Sami: I wanted to.
E.J.: And the second time?
Sami: I kissed you the second time because the first time wasn't quite what I expected.
E.J.: What exactly were you expecting?
Sami: I was expecting to tolerate it, just to upset Nicole.
E.J.: That didn't happen?
Sami: I have a pretty high tolerance level.
Sami: I wanted it to happen again.
E.J.: Well, uh, there's no Nicole, and there's no more curiosity. It's just the two of us. So whatever happens now is up to you.
Kayla: How is he?
Lexie: He's still not breathing on his own.
Kayla: Oh, God.
Lexie: We really didn't expect him to at this point.
Kayla: I delivered him too early. I know his odds -- they're not good.
Steve: It's okay. I got you.
Chelsea: Got nothing left to say?
Daniel: Sounds like you said it all.
Chelsea: [Scoffs] Fine. I'm out of here. But, um, you know how I feel and where I stand. At least one of us had the guts to admit it.
Lucas: I just don't want to get my hopes up, Aunt Maggie. You know, I've been resigned here. Now Uncle Mickey shows up and tells me I might be going home.
Maggie: You got to have faith, sweetheart. You know your uncle will do his very best.
Lucas: I know. I know he will.
Mickey: I'm sorry, Lucas. You're not staying here. You're going home.
Lucas: I'm what? I'm going home?
Mickey: As soon as the papers are processed, you're out of here.
Lucas: Are you kidding me? Thank you. Thank you.
E.J.: How was it this time? Wait. Are you sure you want to do this?
Sami: Promise me something, E.J.
Sami: That you won't ask me that again.
Lucas: I can't wait to see the look on Sami's face when I walk through that door.
Amber: Dr. Jonas.
Daniel: That's right.
Amber: Looks like I caught you at a good time.
