Bo: Lexie, hey. Got my release papers?
Lexie: That's Daniel's call.
Bo: Well, you're here. He's not. Sign those papers, and I'm out of here.
Lexie: Bo, look, I know you're worried about Hope, but if you get yourself all worked up, your blood pressure's gonna go through the roof and then there's not a chance of Daniel letting you out of here.
Bo: What if I just get up and go?
Lexie: I'll call security and have them stop and restrain you.
Bo: Come on, you wouldn't do that.
Lexie: I would if I thought you were putting your life in danger, which is what you'll be doing if you leave here before you're ready. Look, no more arguments, all right?
Bo: Yeah, right, okay.
Lexie: Goodness. Hope would have a fit if she knew the way you were behaving.
Daniel: Awesome, isn't it?
Daniel: You know, how everything finds its own groove, moves to its own rhythm? Seasons, tides, heartbeats.
Kayla: Never thought of it that way.
Daniel: Ever think about shooting the pipeline?
Kayla: As in surfing? Uh, no. I wasn't born with that Gidget gene.
Daniel: Even though you lived in California?
Kayla: Even though. How'd you know I lived in California?
Daniel: Oh, actually, I think I recognized you from a tiny, little café in Venice.
Kayla: Liar. You read my file, didn't you?
Daniel: Uh, yeah. Actually, I looked you up on the internet...
Daniel: ...Before we did the surgery on Bo and Chelsea. I like to know everything there is to know about the doctors I'm working with, especially with a high-risk procedure.
Kayla: So you checked me out.
Daniel: Oh, I checked you out, and if I didn't like what I read, I would have kicked you off the team.
Kayla: Really? Even though Bo's my brother?
Daniel: Especially because he's your brother.
Kayla: I don't know if I should be angry or flattered.
Daniel: Both probably apply. So, you lived in California, but you never surfed. How does that happen, hmm? I mean, you got to try it. Well, I mean, until the baby's born. After that. So, how are you guys feeling, hmm?
Kayla: I think you'd have to ask my O.B. What do you think the chances are that I could get out of here tonight?
Daniel: I just talked to Dr. Elman. She approved your release first thing tomorrow morning.
Kayla: Well, what about tonight, like maybe right now?
Daniel: Well, that works for me, unless you plan on running a marathon.
Kayla: Nope, nope. I just want to go home and get in my own bed, you know. Do you think you can spring me?
Daniel: You know that's not my call.
Kayla: Well, you can talk to Janet -- I mean, Dr. Elman. You could talk to her.
Daniel: Well, why don't you talk to Janet yourself? I mean, if you're that friendly, you should be able to convince her.
Kayla: Come on, Daniel. You know that I have the knowledge to know whether it's safe for me to go home or not.
Daniel: Yeah, yeah, I know that. And if it was my call, I'd release you.
Kayla: Well, I bet you can be pretty convincing when you put your mind to it.
Daniel: I am such a sucker for beautiful women. I'm pathetic. [Chuckles] Ugh, all right. I will run it by our chief of staff.
Kayla: Thank you.
Steve: What did you do with Kayla?
Ava: Oh, would you stop worrying about her? She's fine. I thought we deserved a little privacy.
Steve: Well, I thought you wanted her here to make her jealous.
Ava: I've got more important things on my mind. Do you remember the first thing that made me so hot for you?
Steve: If memory serves... I lit the first match.
Ava: You were running for that cab. It was like somebody was hot on your tail.
Steve: You were out of breath.
Ava: Although it was not from chasing that cab, honey. It was because it was the start of a love that should have lasted us a lifetime.
Steve: What we had was great, baby. But it couldn't last.
Ava: Don't say that. Don't you say that what we felt wasn't real.
Steve: Oh, it was real. It was real, and it was intense. But sometimes the hottest fires burn out the fastest.
Ava: Okay, so you know what you do then? You just re-light it again.
Hope: Oh, come on, Hope. You've been in much worse situations than this. There's always a way out. Always.
The moonlight like a movie made for lovers
John: So, tell me, Blondie -- are they playing our song?
Marlena: What song would that be?
John: Well, I don't know.
Marlena: We do have a song. Shall I have them play it for us?
John: No. I prefer to just...make this up as we go along.
The moonlight like the moment when I found you
John: Did I step on your toe?
Marlena: No. No.
John: I didn't think so. So why did you stop? It was feeling right.
Marlena: Actually, it wasn't feeling right for me.
John: Okay. We can sit this out.
Still wishing you were here wishing you were here
John: Champagne's flat. I'll get another bottle.
Marlena: No, no. Not for me, please. That's -- that's how I got carried away before.
John: Was that a bad thing? Getting "carried away"?
Marlena: It is when you end up in the arms of a stranger.
John: I have known you since January, Doc.
Marlena: But, j-- please don't call me Doc. You're not him. You have his face. You have his voice. You have his -- his body language.
John: And his way of kissing?
Marlena: Only if I close my eyes.
John: If it feels good, go for it.
Marlena: You just don't get this, do you?
John: Oh, yes, I do. You want that guy back. Well, we can't all have what we want, but the trick is...you just have to enjoy what you do have.
Marlena: I'm not sure I want it.
John: Why not? I'm handsome, smart, got more money than trump. What more do you want?
Marlena: I want my John.
John: Well, I thought we were working on having you falling for the new John version 4.0.
Marlena: I know. No, I realize that. The thing is that I'm having a hard time reconciling where that John stops and where you start. It's all very confusing for me.
John: There's worse things in life than being confused.
Marlena: Not for me. My feelings for you are all tangled up with memories about the way we were.
John: Is that the name of our song?
Marlena: No. John, I'm afraid I'm never going to be able to look at you without looking for the real John in you.
John: Well, I'm afraid this is...as real as it's gonna get.
Bo: You're right. Hope would have a fit if she's in some kind of trouble and I'm not doing anything to help her.
Lexie: Why don't you call Abe, tell him what's going on?
Bo: 'Cause I don't know what's going on. Hope may or may not have disappeared.
Lexie: Just let Abe and the police help find her, Bo.
Bo: Lo-- like you said before, I could be over-reacting. Hope might be home right now making a big pot of Irish stew to welcome me home.
Lexie: Okay, we both know Hope isn't home making stew. Why don't you want the police involved? What's going on with Hope?
Hope: Damn it. [Sighs]
Ava: It's all coming back to you, isn't it? How good we were together.
Steve: You were good.
Ava: We were made for each other.
Steve: It was what it was.
Ava: Wrong. It is what it is. I've only loved you. I have never loved a man before or since. It's always been you. Patch, only you.
Steve: But you got a new life now.
Ava: What, you call being held prisoner a life? Being caged up like an animal, playing blackjack with Angelo?
Steve: That's because you got sick.
Ava: I got sick because of you.
Steve: You're right. And I'm sorry about that, Ava. I really am. It's my fault things didn't work out the way you wanted.
Ava: But now you can make it all up to me.
Steve: Don't you think it's too late for that?
Ava: No. No, because when we were together, we were great. We were so amazing, and we can have that again.
Steve: [Sighs] Over your father's dead body.
Ava: Okay, you know, Daddy can be dealt with, all right? Come here, just focus. You focus on us. Once we're back together again, the world can take care of itself. And if it doesn't, to hell with it. Come here.
Ava: What, what, what, what? Baby, are you okay?
Steve: It's the ribs. Remember, I hurt them in the plane crash? Oh.
Ava: Well, let me see if I can make it better.
Steve: I'm sorry.
Ava: You hate me.
Steve: No, I don't.
Ava: Then why do you pull away, huh? It used to be you couldn't wait to have me all by yourself.
Steve: Ava...when I make love to you, I want it to be right, not as your prisoner, not all banged up from a plane crash.
Ava: The plane crash. Oh, God, that was all my fault. You could be dead right now.
Steve: All right, all right. Okay. Do I look like a ghost to you? No. Do I look like a man who makes love to another woman while his pregnant wife is down the hall?
Ava: You're gonna have to decide who you love.
Bo: Lexie, I don't know anything for sure, except that it's been way too long since anyone's heard from Hope.
Lexie: Which is exactly why you need to bring the police in on this.
Bo: No, I can't do that.
Lexie: Well, you obviously know more than you're telling me.
Bo: Lexie, I've asked you to trust me, and you have done that so far. Just trust that I know what I'm doing.
Lexie: Fine. I'm not comfortable with this, Bo.
Bo: And I understand that. Believe me, I do. But you're gonna let me out of here because you're my friend and you're not gonna go running to Abe.
Lexie: You seem very sure of that.
Bo: You got to know I would not put you in this position if there was any other way.
Lexie: I do. I also know that you could be putting your life at considerable risk.
Bo: All right, I d-- I know the rules. I can sign myself out of here without your permission.
Lexie: You do that, and you would be compromising your recovery, Bo. If that happens, you may not be any good to Hope or anyone else.
Bo: Are you gonna let me out of here or not?
Daniel: Dr. Carver, if you'd like a second opinion, you got it.
Lexie: Dr. Jonas, please, be my guest.
Daniel: Detective Brady, you know you dodged a bullet.
Bo: Yeah, I do. I don't need to be reminded of that.
Daniel: Well, maybe you do. Maybe you need to hear again how fortunate you are to be alive.
Bo: I'm very well aware of that. So, are you gonna let me out of here or not?
Marlena: John, Stefano didn't just erase your memory. Everything about you is different. I guess old habits die hard, don't they?
John: Ones I should break?
Marlena: No. There are ones that you -- there are ones that remind me of the old you.
John: Well, that seems pretty unavoidable.
Marlena: Sometimes I think my eyes play tricks on me. Because I'll be looking at you and I'll -- and I'll think... that I see the old John, but I don't.
John: Well, I suppose you could chalk that up to whatever.
Marlena: Sense memory? The part of the brain that's hardwired, that seems like it's connected right to your soul? It sends me small but unmistakable messages that my John is in there.
John: You know, Blondie, I really thought that we were... moving on from there, but obviously not.
Marlena: I'm trying. I'm a psychiatrist. I keep asking myself over and over, "what makes a man?"
John: Well, what you see is what you get. Not good enough?
Marlena: I don't know yet. John, I love you, but I see you do things that unsettle me deeply, things that I just don't like.
John: Are you afraid of me?
Marlena: I'm afraid of myself. This project, as you call it, this loving you for who you are without ever knowing who you really are...
John: Well, isn't learning that the point of the project?
Marlena: I suppose it is.
John: You know, you're not alone. I'm not really sure who this new guy is, either. I guess you could say I'M...just kind of making him up as I go along. But you know what? I like him.
Marlena: I can't reconcile the two -- the man who hugged Roman at his father's funeral and the one who is trying to destroy the Kiriakis shipping line.
John: And the man who kissed you and the man who was kissed back by you?
Marlena: Was a complete stranger.
John: Then how do you reconcile what happened in the tent at the crash site?
Marlena: I can't deny that I am sexually drawn to you.
John: This sounds all very clinical, doctor.
Marlena: Well, I'm trying to be objective.
John: And how is this working out for you?
Marlena: It's not working so well.
John: I don't remember being married to you. But I got a hell of an imagination. Doesn't that count for something? Now, you have stuck it out this far. Aren't you curious to see how it ends? You already told me you feel like you lost the old me. So you've got nothing else to lose, right?
Marlena: You will always mean something to me.
John: Kind of sounds like the big kiss-off.
Marlena: Look, the more I'm confused about you, the more I'm confused about myself.
John: Well, then, why don't you just let me drive the bus for a while? You just relax and enjoy the ride.
Marlena: You don't have any idea how much I would love that.
John: Just do it.
Marlena: And give up control. The thought terrifies me.
John: You know what your problem is? You think too much.
Marlena: No. My problem is I miss you and that hurts me.
John: I'm right here.
Marlena: But you're not here. You're not. You don't know how wonderful we were together. You can't feel that. I feel that. I know that. I suffer with that, and I mourn.
John: You sound like I'm some kind of dead man walking.
Marlena: I don't know who I am with you. I don't know who we are together. I...have to get away and sort that out.
John: You're leaving.
Marlena: Yes, I am.
Bo: So, what's the verdict?
Daniel: Your vitals are good. Heart rate and B.P. are a little elevated.
Bo: Been anxious to get out of here. I'd like to be someplace where green Jell-O isn't considered a vegetable.
Daniel: I don't blame you. Ugh. Dr. Carver, any thoughts?
Lexie: I think he should stay at least till tomorrow morning.
Bo: Well, and I think I'd recuperate an awful lot faster at home in my own bed with my wife taking care of me.
Daniel: Well, there are studies that say he is right about that.
Lexie: Releasing him now would be a mistake.
Bo: Oh, she's just concerned that I'll do something stupid, like go back to work when I'm bored or something like that.
Lexie: I am worried about much more than that, Bo.
Bo: Well, you worry too much.
Daniel: Sign of a good doctor. Well, would you be willing to follow a strict regiment of postoperative instructions?
Bo: To the letter.
Daniel: All right, then. I'll cut you free.
Bo: You won't regret this.
Lexie: I hope you don't, either.
Bo: I won't. So, how soon can I get out of here?
Daniel: As soon as I give you your postoperative instructions.
Bo: Can you give me the short version? I'm in a bit of a hurry.
Daniel: Dr. Carver, Kayla would like to talk to you.
Lexie: Okay. Don't make me sorry I gave in on this.
Bo: I won't.
Daniel: All right. You'll continue with your meds. Three of them are an anti-gland rejection cocktail. The others are anti-inflammatories and antibiotics. Now, it is key that you take these and do not deviate from the schedule.
Bo: Okay, got it.
Daniel: Three reasons to wake me up in the middle of the night without ticking me off -- fever, chills, vomiting. Now, any sign that your body is rejecting your partial pancreas, you call me anytime, anywhere.
Bo: Okay, can I get dressed now?
Daniel: Follow these orders and then you are a free man.
Bo: Great. I won't do anything stupid.
Daniel: Oh, and no driving for six weeks. We got a MediVan to give you a lift, though, if you need a ride home.
Bo: No, no, thanks. I got that covered. And, uh...listen -- thanks a lot for saving my life.
Daniel: I couldn't have done it without Chelsea.
Bo: True. I'm a lucky man. Thanks again.
Daniel: Lucky. All right, well, be careful out there, please.
Bo: Yeah. Later. [Dialing] Hey, Ma. Y-yeah, feeling great. Listen, I need a favor. No, no. Um, sorry. No questions asked.
Lexie: Well, I am sure you are as anxious to get out of here as Bo is.
Kayla: Well, you know, I don't like being on the wrong side of the hospital bed.
Lexie: Doctors make the worst patients.
Kayla: So, does that mean I can get out of here tonight?
Lexie: Well, there's been no cramping for the past 24 hours. The baby shows no signs of distress. Um...I just spoke with Dr. Elman. She's satisfied, so I will release you on one condition.
Kayla: That I go home and go straight to bed.
Lexie: That's right. I mean it, Kay. You need to rest.
Kayla: Okay, I'll do that. I'll just catch up on my favorite soaps.
Lexie: I haven't forgotten something you once told me, how when you and Bo were teenagers, you snuck out of the house to go to a concert.
Kayla: Yeah, we used to do stuff like that all the time. But, listen, if you're worried that we're gonna sneak out to the Cheatin' Heart and go to some rockabilly concert or something, I mean, that's not what we're gonna do.
Lexie: No, no, no, no. Nothing like that. But I am worried that neither of you are going to do what you need to do.
Kayla: I promise I will. And I will keep an eye on Bo.
Lexie: Bo's desperate to go looking for Hope. Do you think you can stop him from doing that?
Kayla: I'll stick to him like glue if I have to.
Lexie: This is serious, Kay. He could really jeopardize his recovery.
Kayla: I know. I promise, I will make sure that he takes care of himself.
Lexie: All right. All right, I'll go and get your release papers.
Kayla: Thank you. [Dialing] Mom. Mom, hi, it's Kayla. No, no, everything's fine. Baby's fine. Um, but I need you to do me a favor.
Ava: The Patch I remember would have had my clothes off by now.
Steve: Don't take it personally, baby. With these bad ribs, I can barely undress myself.
Ava: Then why don't you just relax...and I'll do all the work?
Steve: [Sighs] I don't want to hurt you anymore, Ava. Tonight's just not gonna happen for us.
Ava: Well, I've waited this long, my one true love. But I'm not gonna wait forever.
Steve: Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Hope: Shh! Oh, Steve, thank God. How did you get in here?
Steve: Even guards have to go to the bathroom once in a while. Ava left me alone. I went in the hallway. There was nobody there. But the perimeter's completely guarded. How you holding up?
Hope: As well as can be expected. How about you?
Steve: Well, Ava's been trying to get me into bed. I let her down easy.
Hope: Kayla will be happy to hear that.
Steve: Oh, Ava told me that she's giving me a little time to think it over, but I don't know how much time that means.
Hope: I had no idea just how involved the two of you were until I saw the slide show. Hey. Steve, don't worry. It's all in the past.
Steve: You know, she wasn't like this before, Hope. My leaving really screwed her up.
Hope: She's clearly willing to forgive and forget or she wouldn't want you back.
Steve: Well, that ain't gonna happen.
Hope: Listen, we've got to find a way out of here before she comes back.
Steve: Yes, we do.
John: I didn't think that shrinks believed in running away from their problems.
Marlena: I'm too close to it. I need perspective.
John: What you need is just to...let things happen.
Marlena: You mean relax and let nature take its course? There is nothing natural about this.
John: Maybe not, so just play it where it lays.
Marlena: I can't do that. And it's not your fault. You don't know that about me.
John: And what do you hope to achieve by running away?
Marlena: I don't know exactly. I know that I'm married to a man that I have loved almost my whole life. And you're not that man. And I don't know where that leaves me.
John: Wherever you want to be.
Marlena: Right now...I don't want to be with you.
John: And you'll be gone for how long?
Marlena: I don't know ex-- as long as it takes me to figure out that my feelings for you are real or if they can never happen again.
John: No, no, I don't want you to go. No. I want you to stay right here.
Caroline: Why do I get the feeling that I'm driving a getaway car?
Bo: You're our angel of mercy, Ma.
Caroline: Are you sure you two are officially discharged from the hospital?
Kayla: Everything's okay with the baby.
Bo: I feel good as new.
Caroline: You look pale to me, Bo. Let me feel your forehead.
Bo: Ma, come on. Stop, stop. We're not kids anymore.
Kayla: Yeah, I mean, this isn't like we're trying to do a fake sick day so we can stay home and watch cartoons.
Caroline: [Chuckles] Don't think I wasn't on to you in that. The minute I mentioned the word "castor oil," you were on your bikes and halfway to the school yard.
Bo: Yeah, we could never fool you.
Caroline: No, don't try to pull a fast one on me now. I don't know. I don't mind driving you, but why didn't Hope and Steve pick you up?
Kayla: Remember, no questions.
Caroline: [Sighs] All right, all right. Which one wants to be dropped off first?
Bo: It's okay. You can just take us to the pub.
Caroline: No, you're supposed to be home resting, you two.
Bo: Ma, please. Don't argue.
Kayla: Yeah, we have our reasons.
Caroline: Family keeping secrets from family is surely gonna bring trouble.
Kayla: Well, that's not what we're doing. You have to trust us, really. We -- we know what we're doing.
Marlena: Please don't make this harder on me than it already is.
John: I can see it in your eyes. You don't want to leave me.
Marlena: I haven't had a moment's peace since you came back in -- in this reincarnated version of John.
John: I can't help what Stefano did to me.
Marlena: I know that.
John: And it's unlikely that your John is ever coming back.
Marlena: I know that, too.
John: But I'm making progress, and I don't want to regress. Before you, I walked around like Frankenstein's monster. My half brother designed me to be a machine, a killing machine. I was programmed as an assassin to seek and destroy the enemy, and no one could stop me. But you did. Because you weren't afraid of me.
Marlena: No, I'm not afraid of you. I just don't know what it is that I want.
John: Well, that's transparent. You want the old John to switch back on, because you feel that being with me and caring for me is like cheating on your husband.
Marlena: That's not fair. You can read my mind, and I have no idea what's going on in yours. If I don't sort this out somehow...we are never gonna have a chance to make this -- whatever this is -- work.
Caroline: Will you two please tell me what's going on?
Bo: Ma, I'm sorry. That's -- that's not in the game plan.
Caroline: Bo, you go right upstairs and go to bed.
Kayla: I don't think that's gonna happen, either.
Caroline: Bo, if you don't get some rest, I'll --
Bo: You'll what? Hit me with your shillelagh?
Caroline: Your father died so you could live, so please honor it and take care of yourself.
Bo: I will, Ma. I know what I'm doing. And believe me...I love life now more than I ever thought possible.
Caroline: And you, my little tree-climbing tomboy? You have a precious baby inside of you.
Kayla: Mom, I promise you, you will be there for the birth of this baby, and you'll be there for the baptism and birthdays and everything. Really, I swear to you.
Caroline: Well, I can't make you do anything. [Sighing] Oh, God.
Bo: Ma, come on. It's late. Why don't you head up to bed?
Caroline: Yep, I'll go up and do the books, and please be careful and please call me if you need anything.
Kayla: Night, Mom.
Bo: And thanks for the new duds. You didn't need to do that. See you in the morning.
Kayla: Now what?
Bo: We find our partners.
Angelo: What the hell are you doing in here?
Steve: Visiting my wife. She's pregnant. I was worried about her.
Angelo: Yeah, well, Ava ain't gonna like that, and George is gonna be in deep for leaving his post. So, come on. What'd you pick the lock with? Would you rather I strip-search you or your wife? Yeah, look at that. It's not easy picking a lock with one of these. But then again, you were always pretty resourceful back in the day, weren't you, Patch?
Steve: And I've gotten better with age.
Angelo: Yeah. All right, come on, smart guy.
Hope: Hey. What about me?
Angelo: Oh, you just sit tight, and don't do anything you'll regret. Let's go. Come on. Come on. [Lock clicks]
John: Perhaps I'm reading too much into this.
Marlena: My going away?
John: No, about you coming back when you're good and ready to give us a second shot.
Marlena: Is that what you want?
John: I guess it doesn't matter what I want. So, whenever you figure this out...
Marlena: You'll be here waiting?
John: Well, let's just say I'm not a hard guy to find.
Marlena: Well... this may not seem fair to you, but I just can't promise anything at this point.
Hope: I've got to get out of here. I got to find a way back to you, Bo.
Kayla: Bo, are you all right?
Bo: It's Hope. She's in trouble.
Kayla: Then we need to go find them as quickly as we can.
Bo: Yeah, we will.
Kayla: A DVD?
Bo: Yeah, a buddy of mine -- he's in hospital security -- gave this to me before I left. It's gonna lead us to them.
Nicole: Say whatever you have to say and get out.
Philip: The Austrian Authorities are more interested than ever, and I just know you had something to do with it.
Kayla: Looks like she's slumped over.
Bo: What the hell did they do to her?
Steve: How the hell did I get us into this mess?
