Anna: [Thinking] Of all the gin joints in all the world, he had to be in mine? Great. Last thing I need to do is see Tony fawning all over Kate. And look, his needy neophyte Morgan is here, as well. Lovely. [Aloud] Bartender, top shelf gin martini.
Tony: Two olives.
Bartender: Coming right up.
Tony: Uh, hello, Anna. What a pleasant surprise.
Anna: Is it?
Tony: Well, of course it is. So, are you here on business or pleasure?
Anna: [Chuckles] It's funny, Tony, I was just about to ask you the same thing.
Marlena: I want to thank you for the dinner invitation. I must admit, I was a little surprised.
John: So was I... that you accepted. Since you agreed to take me on as your project, I thought we ought to celebrate.
Marlena: So this supper is about the new us.
John: Well, yes. Since your hypnosis proved, at least for me, there was no old us.
John: So... let's start from scratch. Want to drink to that?
Max: Okay, so we are in luck. I was putting down my apron, and look what I found.
Stephanie: Grandma Caroline's carrot cake.
Max: Yeah! I mean, this is a major score, especially after that little league that came in here and almost cleaned us out of business.
Stephanie: Yeah. None for me. No, I'm stuffed.
Max: You sure?
Stephanie: Positive. Go ahead.
Max: [Humming] Oh, it's excellent, as always. Okay, so going back to what you were saying, so your mom knows about your dad's ex now.
Stephanie: Yes, and she's furious.
Max: Well, that's understandably so.
Stephanie: And against her doctor's orders, she left the hospital and went home, and that's when the cramps returned.
Max: That's why she was admitted to the hospital.
Max: That's not good. Is the baby okay?
Stephanie: Yeah, the baby's fine, thank God, but the weird thing is, my Dad hasn't been with her. I mean, he took off awhile ago, and he hasn't come back.
Max: You think this has something to do with his ex?
Stephanie: I don't know. Just really starting to worry.
Max: There's probably a logical explanation for this.
Stephanie: I hope so. But what I really hope is that the stress of this whole thing doesn't hurt my Mom or the baby.
Maxine: All right, Mr. Brady. I hope the next piece of paper I see is your discharge. But until then, I want you to relax. You hear me?
Bo: Relax. Yes, ma'am.
Maxine: Dr. Johnson, I trust you'll take care of your brother for me.
Kayla: Oh, I'll do my best. Wait, wait, whoa, what do you think you're doing?
Bo: I'm gonna go find Hope before Steve's crazy ex-stalker-girlfriend does something to her.
Kayla: I can't let you do that. You can't risk your health or maybe even your life.
Bo: What are you talk-- just a few minutes ago, you wanted me to do anything I could to get out of here and find them.
Kayla: I know, but you need Daniel to discharge you.
Bo: Yeah, right, sit around here on my butt doing nothing.
Kayla: Look, I know how you feel. That's why I am gonna go look for Steve and Hope. It's the only way.
Angelo: Inside, both of you.
Steve: Oh, look at this. Dinner and a movie.
Hope: For two. How quaint. Why do I get the feeling one of the place settings isn't for me?
Ava: Ooh, pretty and perceptive. You sure know how to pick them.
Steve: What's this about, Ava?
Ava: What does it look like? We're gonna have an intimate evening together, and, luckily for Kayla, she gets to watch.
Hope: You got to be kidding me.
Tony: Oh, Anna, as much as I'd like to just sit back and enjoy my evening, I'm afraid I'm here on business.
Anna: Aw. There's nothing more boring than breaking bread with some stuffy executive.
Tony: Well, thank God that's not the case with me. I'm eating here with Kate Roberts to go over the Hearth and Home marketing plan.
Anna: Well, well. Then your evening might not turn out so bad after all. In fact, you might get lucky.
Tony: [Chuckles] Huh?
Anna: Well, Kate is a very beautiful woman.
Tony: W-w-what has that got to do with us conducting business here?
Anna: You tell me. I hear she used to be in the business of pleasure. And maybe -- just maybe -- if you play your cards right, you two could end your evening in bed.
Morgan: I appreciate you wanting to take me to dinner, Daddy, but...
Paul: Ah, it's my treat. You're still my little girl. Let's think of tonight as a celebration of sorts. I have it on good authority that this whole thing is gonna work out in my favor.
Morgan: Really? Oh, that's wonderful. So, you're cleared of all the charges, you're getting your job back?
Paul: Well, no. But I've been given certain assurances that this mess is gonna be taken care of, and my reputation's gonna be repaired.
Morgan: By who?
Marlena: You really want to throw away what we had and start fresh with me?
John: Well, technically, you can't throw away something that you never had. But, sure, why not? And I got a lot to prove. Because if I can't show you there's something to like about the new me, you're gonna lose interest.
Marlena: That's not true. I'll never give up on you.
John: You talking about that other guy again?
Marlena: I'm talking about my husband.
John: I'm the only one you have, aren't I?
John: So, you're good with this.
Marlena: John, I know you like living the life of this 4.0 John with the toys and all the money, but you do have a wife and a family.
John: And that is the point of this project. You see, if I can connect with you, who knows? I may be able to work my way up to find more than just a passing interest with our children. And then you will like the new me just as much as you liked the old me.
Anna: I know I do.
Ava: Bring back memories?
Ava: Yeah, I thought so. And lucky for you, we've got plenty of time. We have all night to catch up, if you know what I mean.
Hope: You're crazy, you know that?!
Angelo: Careful, careful, careful.
Hope: Let go of me!
Ava: It's okay, Angelo, calm down. You know what? You better behave, little girl, because if you don't, I'd hate to see something happen to you and your unborn child before you got the chance to see how important your husband is to me. Darling, darling, darling, come, come. Sit. Come on. Angelo, give Kayla a seat.
Angelo: Come on, honey, let's go.
Steve: Oh, come on, Ava. Are the handcuffs really necessary?
Ava: Yeah, they are, if we don't want to be interrupted again.
Angelo: All right?
Ava: Thanks, Angelo. Now go away.
Angelo: You know, I, uh, I really think I should stay.
Ava: I really think you should leave.
Angelo: Well, you know where I'll be.
Ava: Yeah, I'll call you if I need you. Shots? [Chuckles] To us... Patch, to our past, but... most importantly, to our future. [Beeping] Oh, would you look at that? [Laughs] You remember that day, right outside of Vegas? It was right after that Pullman job.
Ava: God, we were so in love. You know what I think? It was a long time ago... but I think I love you just as much now as I did back then.
Bo: No way. You're stuck here, too. You can't risk your health.
Kayla: Sit down. Sit down. I don't think that there's any other option here.
Bo: What if something happened to you or your baby?
Kayla: It won't.
Bo: How do you know? Do you want me to call your doctor?
Kayla: You know, you're really infuriating.
Bo: And you're not?
Kayla: I'm just concerned about you.
Bo: That's a two-way street.
Kayla: You know, the stress of not going is worse for me and the baby.
Bo: Well, I'm sorry. I don't mean to stress you out.
Kayla: It's not your fault. The truth is, both of us have our hands tied until we get an official discharge from here.
Bo: Yeah. We got to sit here on our butts while God knows what is happening to Steve and Hope.
Kayla: Yeah, I hope that they can handle whatever Ava throws at them.
Bo: I'm a little more worried about what might happen when she finds out that Hope is not you and Steve's been playing her.
Kayla: Maybe we should call the police.
Bo: No, no. Steve was adamant that that would make things worse. I do know someone who might be able to help us out, though.
Ava: Do you remember that? That -- that was at Daddy's cabin, when we were fishing. We didn't have any luck with those fish that day, did we? But we certainly, certainly got lucky at night. Wow. You made love to me like, mmm, six times that night. He ever made love to you like that, Kayla? No, I didn't think so.
Paul: Let's just say that, uh, the person who got me into this mess is trying to get me out of it.
Morgan: And what if they don't, Daddy? Does that mean that you're going to prison?
Morgan: Look, I don't know what I would do if you got sent away.
Paul: Morgan, I'm not going to prison. Let's talk about something else. Let's, um... let's just focus on having a nice meal together, okay?
Anna: Excuse me for interrupting. I just wanted to say hi.
John: Hello. Please, sit.
Anna: Thank you.
Marlena: Are you with Tony?
Anna: No. You know, I don't know if you've heard, but Tony and I aren't really together anymore.
Marlena: Oh. I'm sorry to hear that. Can I help in any way?
Anna: Well, I would ask you to shrink his head and find out what is wrong with him, but, oh, don't bother. He's as thick as they come. Fortunately, some men are more perceptive about women -- like you, John. I bet you know exactly what a woman like me wants.
Steve: Okay, Ava, I get it. I get it. That's enough. We've seen enough.
Ava: Honey, these are good memories. Why you getting so upset?
Steve: I don't appreciate your little slide show.
Ava: But I put together this special evening for us.
Steve: Yeah, to make my wife jealous.
Ava: Well, it was part of the intention, yeah. But mostly it was to remind us how good we were together.
Steve: Well, it's not working. Dragging our past out in front of Kayla and having a man follow my daughter -- that's not the way back into my heart.
Ava: I'm only having Stephanie followed as a precaution.
Steve: Yeah, well, I have a man following her, too.
Ava: Not anymore.
Steve: What? What are you talking about?
Hope: What did you do to her?
Ava: Nothing. I just had my men pay your guy off, that's all.
Hope: Oh, my God, Steve.
Steve: I don't believe you.
Ava: Oh, well, it's true.
Steve: Listen to me. Every time you threaten my wife or my daughter, any chance of reconciliation between us slips further away. Now, is that what you want?
Ava: No. No, no, no, no. Look, you're right. I'm going about this all -- all wrong. Okay, I'm sorry. Sit. Please. Okay, I've got an idea. Let's just go back to talking about the good old days when we were in love.
Max: Hold on there. I think you're getting way ahead of yourself here. There's nothing that's gonna happen to your mom or dad.
Stephanie: How can you be so sure? I'm sorry. I appreciate everything you're doing. I just wish I knew for sure that everything was gonna be okay.
Max: [Sighs] All right. You know, I think I might know someone who might be able to give you what you want.
Max: Just trust me.
Victor: The Vitalis' are a family in every sense of the word, Bo. They're the mob.
Bo: So, they're obviously very dangerous.
Victor: Absolutely. And we're not talking about white-collar crime here. The father's been indicted I don't know how many times. He's never been convicted.
Bo: I see.
Victor: I'm not sure you do. The Vitalis' are what people on the other side of the law call "old-school." They have a very unorthodox way of doing business.
Bo: For example?
Victor: For example, they torture their own men. I mean, they put hits out on rivals just for shock effect.
Kayla: That sounds horrible.
Victor: They're very powerful, they're very dangerous, and they're very deadly.
Bo: Would you happen to know anyone on the inside who might talk?
Victor: No. No, people who work for the Vitalis' don't tend to leave the fold.
Victor: Well, we can't be sure, but if they did leave, chances are they would not be inclined to talk.
Kayla: Why not?
Victor: Because they'd probably be dead.
Ava: Oh. You remember that, babe?
Ava: Yeah, I mean, how could you forget, right? It was our first kiss. You had just finished your first job. I was so proud of you.
Steve: That kiss nearly got me killed.
Ava: Angelo caught that on surveillance. He wanted to show Daddy that picture, but I wouldn't let him. I protected you. I knew. God, I knew from that first kiss that I loved you... and that you loved me. God... we couldn't keep our hands off each other. Oh, isn't that right, lover?
Steve: Oh, man.
Steve: No, no, no. We shouldn't do this.
Steve: No, no, no. [Exhales sharply] You're the boss's daughter.
Ava: You don't want me?
Steve: No, no. If he finds out...
Ava: If that's what it is, just don't worry, okay? Why do you think I brought you all the way out here, huh? Miles, miles away.
Steve: I don't think it's a good idea.
Ava: This always happens.
Steve: What's that?
Ava: This. This. I finally find somebody I like, and then they get scared off by my Father.
Steve: I'm sorry, baby. But you're a beautiful woman. You're so sexy. If your old man wasn't in the picture, I wouldn't hesitate. I-I have to go. I have to go. I'm sorry. If it's supposed to work out, it will work out.
Ava: You're remembering.
John: Anna, you certainly are an interesting woman.
Anna: Well, thank you. I like to think so. [Laughs]
John: I didn't necessarily mean that as a compliment.
John: Did it ever occur to you that coming on to me in front of Marlena in the middle of our date is a little inappropriate?
Anna: Coming on to you? Please, I was just being myself.
John: A flirt.
Anna: Well, I meant no disrespect.
John: Of course not. You just wanted to make Tony jealous, right?
Marlena: John, that's enough.
John: I may not remember who I was, but your wily ways will not work on me now.
Anna: Well, if you'll excuse me.
John: Tony. Before you...rush after her, may I have a word?
Tony: Why, certainly, John.
Marlena: I'm gonna check on Anna. Excuse me.
John: Whatever you say to her, don't let her off the hook.
Tony: I must apologize for Anna's behavior. And you're right. She was just trying to make me jealous.
John: I know. But if I were you, I wouldn't ignore her too much longer.
Tony: Ignore her? That's not what I'm doing.
John: Perhaps not. But that's not the way she sees it.
Tony: Anna's a very complicated woman.
John: And very attractive. And if my circumstances were different, if I wasn't married, I just might --
Tony: What? [Laughs] What, go after her? Are you serious?
John: Absolutely. I mean, who would stop me?
Tony: I would.
Anna: If you've come over here to call me out on my behavior, there's no need. I know I was acting like a fool. Please forgive me.
Marlena: I think you were flirting in order to get to Tony. And, Anna, you don't have to do that.
Anna: [Scoffs] Is that your professional opinion, Marlena? [Voice breaking] Because while you're at it, maybe you can explain to me why the man I love doesn't treat me like a human being.
Marlena: Oh, stop that. He adores you.
Anna: Oh, I know he loves me. But he doesn't respect me. And what is love without respect, huh? Meaningless. Zip. You know, I really envy you, Marlena. You're a very lucky woman.
Marlena: How is that?
Anna: You have John.
Marlena: Mm-hmm. He's not the man I fell in love with. You and Tony, you have a foundation. John and I don't have that.
Anna: Well, is that really so terrible? I mean, John may have had his memories erased, but it's pretty clear the man is crazy about you. And that is huge.
Marlena: I'm not sure I see it that way.
Anna: Well, then, apparently you're even more blind than Tony is.
Victor: You're not planning on going after the Vitalis'.
Bo: I'm sorry, Victor. This is a police matter. I can't discuss it with you.
Victor: Well, then, could you do me a favor?
Victor: If you are assigned to the case, turn it down. They've got people everywhere, probably on the force. Just let somebody else handle it.
Bo: Okay. I'll give it some thought.
Victor: Right now, your family needs you to concentrate on getting well so you can get out of this hospital.
Bo: You got that right.
Victor: I got a meeting. Nice to see you, son.
Bo: Thanks for stopping by.
Victor: My pleasure. Say hello to Hope for me.
Bo: I will.
Victor: And you take care of yourself and take care of that baby.
Kayla: Thank you. Thanks for coming by, Victor. Did you hear him?
Bo: Steve was right. We can't go to the cops. If they've got someone in the force, they'll know our every move.
Kayla: Well, what are you gonna do then?
Bo: I really don't have a choice. The only thing I can do is handle this on my own.
Ava: You're remembering, aren't you, how hot we were for each other?
Steve: It's hard to forget.
Ava: But it changed, didn't it?
Steve: Oh, baby! You walked all over that dude!
Ava: Oh! Oh, come here.
Steve: God, I want you so bad. Oh, damn your daddy. Damn him. Damn him.
Ava: Hey, I've talked to Daddy.
Steve: You talked to him.
Ava: Yeah. And although he's not thrilled about the prospect of me dating one of his men, he appreciates everything you've done for him.
Steve: So he gave us his blessing, just like that?
Ava: Well, not exactly, but he didn't forbid us.
Steve: No? He didn't forbid us? Why not?
Ava: 'Cause I'm his daughter, and he wants me to be happy. And because I told him that I love you.
Steve: You did?
Ava: You love me, too, don't you?
Steve: I do. More than anything.
Hope: Steve? Steven? Steve, w-w-wait. Steve, don't do this. Steve, you're gonna reg-- listen, just stop. L-- just l-let me show you something. Steve, please. Steve!
Max: So, how are you feeling now?
Stephanie: Much better.
Max: Good. There's something about visiting Pop's grave that always helps me cope. I thought it might have the same effect on you.
Stephanie: I can really feel his presence. It's like he's watching over us.
Max: Yeah, he is, your mom and dad included.
Stephanie: Thank you. It was really sweet.
Stephanie: If ever there were a guardian angel, Grandpa Shawn would be it.
Max: Yeah. While he's watching over you, the family, and everybody, there's someone here on earth who's looking after you, too.
Stephanie: And who's that?
Max: That's funny. That's real funny.
John: Let me assure you, Tony, that when it comes to Anna, you have nothing to worry about. Just by her flirting, she only has eyes for you.
Tony: Hmm. Right, well, then, I should go check on her.
John: Before you do, I need a favor.
Tony: I'm all ears.
John: The advertising business that you bought has an in-house P.R. Department, right?
Tony: Yes, it does.
John: I have an associate by the name of Paul Hollingsworth who needs some help. It seems he's been accused of some unfortunate wrongdoing. I would like you to spin it.
Tony: Hollingsworth. Yes, I-I'm quite familiar with that name.
Morgan: That's because that's my Father, Mr. DiMera.
Anna: You can't tell me that you don't see it or feel it. The new John is completely enamored with you.
Marlena: Maybe I'm just being cautious. Maybe I'm waiting for the old John to resurface.
Anna: Well, that's fine. Just don't let the new one get away. It doesn't take a shrink to see that this new John has developed new feelings for you.
Marlena: Oh. I find this all so confusing.
Anna: I understand. Just make sure you figure out what it is you do want before it's too late and some other silly woman comes along and tries to take your husband away again.
Kayla: Bo, no, you can't do this.
Bo: Save your breath. I've made up my mind.
Kayla: You could get yourself killed.
Bo: Well, that's a chance I'll have to take. Right now, I know you're scared, but I'm a bit more worried about hope and what's gonna happen to her if Ava finds out she's a cop.
Kayla: I'm not gonna be able to talk you out of this, am I?
Kayla: Okay, fine. You win. You can go.
Bo: Thanks. It's best that I do this alone.
Kayla: You can go under one condition.
Bo: What's that?
Kayla: I go with you.
Bo: That --
Hope: Steve, listen to me, okay? Just listen to me for a moment, okay? Can I show you something? Look in your back pocket.
Ava: What is this, a trick?
Hope: It's not a trick, okay? Just look in your back pocket. Can you do this one last thing for me?
Ava: What is that?
Steve: The baby.
Hope: Not just a baby. It's our baby.
Ava: Would you just stop it?
Ava: You're not gonna guilt him.
Hope: Just shut up! Steven, listen to me. Before you make the biggest mistake of your life here with this woman, you have to think about what you're doing. Stephanie grew up without you in her life. She didn't know you as a father then. You want the same thing for this child, this child that I'm carrying? Think, Steve.
John: I told you I would help you rebuild your life.
Paul: And I really appreciate it, John.
John: We'll see. I'll be in touch.
Paul: All right. See you.
John: I don't need any lectures. I simply asked Tony to do him a favor involving some positive spin. Least I could do for him.
Marlena: That was very nice of you.
John: I know. I'm not all bad.
Marlena: I never said you were. In moonlight would you like to dance with me? You used to be a very good dancer.
John: Why am I not surprised?
Morgan: Thank you for helping my Father, Mr. DiMera. I really appreciate it.
Tony: Don't mention it, Morgan. You know, once the agency works its magic, the media will have forgotten all about those tawdry headlines.
Morgan: I'll see you at the office.
Tony: Okay. Bye. Oh. Nice kid, really.
Anna: Mm. I bet.
Tony: Oh, I wanted to thank you for the delightful dinner theater this evening. Your performance with John was sublime.
Anna: Don't be an idiot, Tony.
Tony: Oh, I'm trying not to be. Listen, I appreciate what you're doing. I'm flattered. Don't play those foolish games with John to try to woo me. You already have me! You just got to let me in.
Anna: Why? So I can take a number and get in line behind all the rest of the women in Salem? You have a nice evening with Kate.
Moonlight like a movie made for lovers
John: So, in your professional opinion, how is our date going so far?
Marlena: It's good. I'm glad I agreed to come out with you.
John: You're thinking about the old John again, aren't you?
Marlena: No. Moonlight
Marlena: Believe it or not, I was just into the new him.
John: Let me guess. You're afraid to admit it, but you like what you see.
Marlena: No, that's not it.
John: Yes, I think it is. Why don't you just face it? The new me is kind of getting under your skin, isn't he? In a good kind of way.
Bo: I am not letting you come with me. It would be too dangerous for you and the baby.
Kayla: You are in far worse shape than I am.
Bo: No, I'm -- I don't care.
Kayla: Well, I do. So, if you're going, you need to take a doctor with you. And lucky for you, I am one.
Bo: Not gonna happen.
Kayla: You are not gonna argue with me.
Maxine: I have good news. Your doctors are coming in to give you the once-over. If they concur, you'll both be going home.
Bo: That's great.
Kayla: That's really great.
Maxine: Do you each have a ride?
Bo: We'll arrange something.
Kayla: Dr. Johnson, I'd appreciate it if you'd go back to your room so your brother could get some rest.
Kayla: Um, I'm on my way. [Thinking] I know what you're thinking, Bo, but we're gonna find Hope and Steve together.
Maxine: Dr. Johnson, please, back to your room.
Bo: [Thinking] Hang on, Fancy Face. Wherever you are, I'll find you.
Hope: See? It's our baby. The baby we made together.
Steve: I'm sorry, Kayla. This is where I belong.
Hope: No. Don't do this, Steve.
Ava: I knew you'd come around.
Lexie: Why don't you want the police involved? What's going on with Hope?
Ava: Once we're back together again, the world can take care of itself. And if it doesn't, to hell with it.
John: You're leaving.
Marlena: Yes, I am.
