Sami: No, stop it, E.J.

E.J.: Okay, a little inappropriate, maybe a little bit.

Sami: "A little"? What are you talking about, E.J.? You know, I hate it the way you barge into my apartment all the time like that. Could you please knock for once?

E.J.: Look, just one second. First of all, our apartment.

Sami: Uh, first of all, my apartment.

E.J.: No, no, our -- just please. Would you listen to me?

Sami: E.J., what are you talking about?

E.J.: I'm talking about my marvelous news.

Nurse: You're feeling better, aren't you?

Chelsea: I am.

Nurse: I can see a twinkle in your eye.

Chelsea: I'm just thinking about somebody.

[Knock on door]

Chelsea: Come in.

Nick: Nice place.

Chelsea: Thank you.

Nick: I, uh, I got some great news.

Chelsea: What?

Nick: I just called Max and Stephanie. They should be here soon.

Chelsea: Oh, come on. You got to tell me.

Nick: I want to tell you all at the same time.

Nurse: Don't get her too excited.

Ava: I am so excited.

Hope: I am, too.

Ava: I'm excited about the thought of me and Patch getting back together. What are you excited about?

Hope: Do I need a reason?

Ava: Yes.

Hope: Okay, um...then I'm excited because this whole thing is finally going to be over. Whether Steve chooses you or whether he chooses me, either way, whoever he wants to spend the rest of his life with, we can both move on.

Ava: Oh, you think he's gonna want to stay with you, don't you?

Hope: And if he does?

Ava: Well, that won't be good for any of us.

Hope: Ava...do you really think Steve is going to want to be with you after what you did?

Ava: I didn't do anything. He's the one who --

Hope: I'm talking about sabotaging the plane. Three people died in that crash.

Hope: Three people. You killed three people in that crash, Ava.

Ava: No, I didn't kill anyone.

Hope: How do you figure that?

Ava: Because the plane wasn't supposed to get off the ground.

Hope: But it did get off the ground, and three people died because of you. They lost their lives.

Ava: No, not because of me. It got screwed up. I asked my cousins just to mess with the plane a little bit. Look, I don't even know what they did, okay? And then the pilots came on the plane, and they didn't check it very well. It's their fault, too. Look, none of this -- none of this would have happened if the plane hadn't taken off.

Hope: What was your plan?

Ava: Look, the pilots, they were supposed to get on the loudspeaker and they were gonna say, "I'm sorry. There's been a little problem. We can't take off right now." And then everybody would have just deplaned, and as they were walking over to the terminal... Patch would have seen me. And I was wearing this fuchsia jacket and this beautiful, beautiful hat. God, it was his favorite, and he loved me in that hat. And then Patch would have snuck away from all of you, and he would have come up to me, and he would have said, "Ava, Ava, baby, what are you doing here?"

Hope: And then what?

Ava: And then we would have gotten a coffee or a drink and we would have talked about the old times, the good old days when we were together. And he would have looked me in the eye, and he would have seen how much I loved him. And then he would have remembered. He would have remembered that he loved me, too.

Hope: And?

Ava: And happily ever after.

Hope: But, you see, he did get off the plane to look for you.

Ava: Okay, but it wasn't the way that I wanted it to be. Look, the planes, they -- they were making all this noise and the engine, like they were about to taxi. And then Patch, he came running at me and he was really mad. It wasn't the right time, okay? So I hid. I got scared and I ran off.

Hope: So you let him get back on the plane that nearly killed him, nearly killed all of us.

Ava: Look, I know. I know, and three people died. I am sorry.

Hope: Sorry... doesn't bring them back.

Ava: You said the third person...was your father?

Hope: Sweetest, kindest man I'd ever met. Gave up his life for his son.

Ava: He didn't die in the crash?

Hope: No. He died at 30,000 feet...because of what happened to the plane.

Ava: What happened?

Nick: Where are Max and Stephanie? They should be here by now.

Chelsea: Come on. You came all the way over here, you tell me you have great big news, and you're seriously not even gonna give me a hint?

Nick: Not until they get here. Then I will tell you everything.

[Knock on door]

Nick: I'll get it. Hello...Morgan.

Morgan: You don't sound very happy to see me.

Nick: Oh, no, I'm sorry. I thought it was gonna be Max and Steph.

Morgan: Chelsea, this place is gorgeous. Oh, my God. It might even be as big as my Mama's, and that backyard is to die for.

Chelsea: Thank you. I know. It's pretty cool.

Morgan: So, how you feeling?

Chelsea: I'm okay. I'm a little sore, but I'm okay.

Nick: Chelsea's grandpa got her a full-time nurse.

Morgan: Oh, I had one of those when I got my wisdom teeth taken out. She gave me, like, a little bell to ring to summon her and everything.

Chelsea: Yeah, my Grandpa's been doing a great job taking care of me, and I guess that this house is just a tad nicer to recover in than the hospital.

Morgan: You think?

Chelsea: So, um, Nick came over here because he has some big, exciting news to share.

Morgan: What is it?

Nick: I don't want to say until Max and Stephanie get here.

Morgan: Well, can I stay to hear, too?

Nick: Of course you can. Well, it's okay with me.

Chelsea: Yeah, of course.

Morgan: Okay, what is it?

Nick: I don't want to say until Max and Stephanie get here.

Morgan: No, give me a little hint.

Chelsea: I already tried that. He won't budge.

Stephanie: Knock, knock.

Chelsea: Get in here.

Stephanie: Hey. Nick called and told us to come right over. We weren't sure if something was wrong.

Chelsea: No, I'm fine.

Morgan: Actually, Nick has some big news for us.

Sami: E.J., I don't care what your news is. It's not right for you to just swing me around like a rag doll.

E.J.: Okay, okay, okay. All right, fine. You have my word -- no more swinging around like a rag doll.

Sami: Okay. So, just tell me about your wonderful news.

E.J.: Well, first of all, it's not wonderful news. It's marvelous news.

Sami: My mistake. Marvelous news. Let's hear it.

E.J.: Okay, I just came back from the Immigration and Customs Office.

Sami: Really? Did they tell you that you only have 48 hours before you have to get out of the country forever?

E.J.: No, sweetheart, they didn't say that. What they said was that they were looking into my case.

Sami: Why is that good news?

E.J.: It's good news -- one, because they're not telling me to get out of the country immediately, and two, because it sounds like they're actually giving this thing some thought.

Sami: What do you mean? Isn't that what they've been doing this whole time, giving it some thought?

E.J.: Evidently not. Look, I went down there. I explained we're married, we have a child. And it seemed to generate a small amount of compassion.

Sami: So you're saying that they all of a sudden decided to change their minds?

E.J.: No. What I'm saying is that we only have one more box to check.

Sami: What's that?

E.J.: All we need to do is show them that we are married in more than just name only, okay? We need to reinforce the fact that we meant what we said when we took those vows, that we love each other.

Ava: Tell me what happened.

Hope: We didn't even know there was a problem...until we reached altitude. Everything stopped working. The pilots couldn't turn, descend. They couldn't do anything. Even the radios, they were out.

Ava: Sounds scary.

Hope: It became really scary when we lost cabin pressure.

Ava: That's not a big deal. Because the masks --

Hope: No, it was! It was a big deal! All of the masks weren't working. We didn't have enough oxygen for everyone. And because the plane couldn't descend, someone had to sacrifice... and that person was Shawn... was my Pop.

Ava: But, look, I know. I know Patch better than anyone. He wouldn't just sit by if somebody was dying. He would do something.

Hope: He was in the cockpit. He didn't know what was happening in the back cabin, Ava! And Bo, he... he was Steve's friend... who's really sick. And because we didn't have enough oxygen, he took off his mask and he offered it to my Pop. But Pop refused and he pushed it away. And they went back and forth... [Sniffles] Until Bo passed out. Pop wouldn't accept any oxygen. He insisted that Bo should take it.

Stephanie: Well, are you gonna tell us?

Nick: Okay, so, you guys know I've been working on this alternative-fuel-source research.

Morgan: Did you try it in a car? Did it work?

Nick: I didn't try it in a car, but, yes, it works theoretically.

Morgan: Okay, so if you didn't get it to work, why are you so excited?

Nick: Well, it takes money to make it work, Morgan.

Max: Wait, you got your grant?

Nick: I applied to the state office and the national energy technology labs for renewable energy research and development.

Chelsea: And?

Nick: They both came through.

Chelsea: Oh, Nick, that's so awesome.

Stephanie: Oh, my gosh. Congratulations.

Morgan: That is so great! Congratulations.

Stephanie: You really deserve this. You've been working so hard on that thing.

Chelsea: I guess everything's just starting to fall right into place, huh?

Morgan: God, I am so proud of you. You are just my hero. Oh, this is so great.

Stephanie: So, when do you get to put it into production?

Nick: Well, the money hasn't really come through yet, but now that I know the money's coming, I can get started on all the basic elements.

Stephanie: What's wrong?

Max: Nothing. Nothing. This is great, isn't it?

Stephanie: Yeah, but you don't seem too excited.

Max: I'm excited. I know he's been working on this for a long time.

Stephanie: Okay, then why are you standing over here all by yourself?

Max: I'm fine. I'm fine. Hey, buddy, look, good job, all right?

Nick: Thanks, man. When I got the letter, I was like, "I can't open this."

Max: No, it's good. Good for you.

Nick: I think it was more intense than when I got all my college acceptances, you know?

Morgan: Oh, I was so nervous opening my acceptance letters.

Chelsea: It's the waiting that's the hardest part.

Max: Look, I hate to do this, but I got to run. I got some stuff I got to do.

Nick: Okay.

Chelsea: You know what? I can ask my Grandpa if maybe we can have a party here to celebrate or something.

Max: I'll talk to you guys later.

Morgan: That would be great.

Stephanie: Are you okay?

Max: I'm -- I'm just happy for Nick. I'm fine.

Sami: Those vows didn't have anything to do with love and you know it. I thought this was over.

E.J.: Samantha.

Sami: Don't "Samantha" me. I was there for you. I lied through my teeth for you and you know it.

E.J.: True, but this is an opportunity for me to stay in the country legally.

Sami: What else can we do?

E.J.: What I want you to do is what you do better than just about anybody else I know, me included. Something that I know you enjoy doing very much. Something you did very well at our wedding ceremony. Something you did even better when we met Mr. Burke from immigration. I want you to lie through your teeth.

Hope: Bo was unconscious. Hope and I tried to get Pop to breathe from the masks that were -- but being the man that he was, he pushed it away. He wouldn't take it. There was nothing we could do. [Sighs] [Sniffles] He smiled proudly at his son... and just closed his eyes and he died. Are you crying?

Ava: Look, I am sorry. Nothing like that was ever supposed to happen. [Sniffles] Look, I got to go see Patch.

Hope: I thought you couldn't leave.

Ava: What was your father's last name?

Hope: Brady.

Ava: Shawn Brady.

Hope: Yes.

Ava: Angelo.

Hope: I thought you couldn't leave.

Ava: Yeah, well, I told you, my Daddy's on business.

Angelo: Yeah.

Ava: Hey. I need to go out.

Angelo: Oh, come on, Ava.

Ava: What? What's the problem? Daddy's not here.

Angelo: You know he'd kill me if he found out.

Ava: And he won't.

Angelo: You know, the last time you got out on your own, you brought this chick back.

Ava: Yeah, and has it been a problem for you? No.

Angelo: Okay, look, I know once you set your mind to something, I can't stop you, but I got to tell you, Ava, I think bringing this woman here was stupid.

Ava: Oh, yeah? Okay, well, it wasn't stupid, because it was part of the plan, so why don't you just keep your eye on her and make sure she doesn't get out of your sight, all right? Shawn Brady.

Max: Oh, well, I didn't know what else to bring you, so I brought you a couple beers. I know you don't like flowers, so... so, Nick got his grant. I'm happy for him. [Chuckles] Don't get me wrong. Nick's a smart guy. He just, uh...makes mistakes from time to time. Needed a little guidance. [Chuckles] You know I'm not big on working at the pub. I guess Ma is having a really tough time with it. So I just thought I'd help her out a little, you know? [Sniffles] You know I'll never go back to school. I mean, you didn't, and you're the best man I've ever known. And... you did good with what you had. And I'll do good with what I've got. I guess we all have our place in life. You know what? Right now, I'm totally cool with running the pub and taking care of Ma for you. I just really want to find something else, you know? Because I really want to take care of Stephanie, too.

Sami: Look, E.J., I believe I've done enough lying for you.

E.J.: Samantha, please, come on. I just need to get immigration off my back. I'm not trying to make the situation worse.

Sami: I know that. I know that.

E.J.: Then give me a break, okay? Come on, it's not like I can just go and run rings around the U.S. Government. Hi.

Sami: Oh, please. I know you can.

E.J.: Okay, maybe I can, but it's a lot more fun if we do it together. Hey, don't you think?

Sami: I want to hear you beg.

E.J.: Okay. I'm not afraid to sacrifice my pride to spend time with my son, Samantha.

Sami: Oh, come on, E.J. I'm just kidding. You know I would do anything for him.

E.J.: Then do this. It's gonna be fun. What do you think? You think it's gonna be fun? Oh.

Sami: I think I will stomach it to help Johnny.

E.J.: Thank you.

Sami: Okay, so, what's the plan?

E.J.: Pretty simple, really. You just have to love me.

Sami: Love you? Oh, come on, E.J. You got to do better than that. If we're doing this for Johnny, we got to do it right. We have to be realistic.

E.J.: Okay. Okay. We'll be realistic. Oh. I know. Oh, I know.

Nick: I felt like my heart was gonna jump out of my chest. I open the letter, and it says, "your proposal for a grant has been reviewed and approved." And that was the federal one.

Morgan: This is so awesome.

Nick: So I'm like dancing around the kitchen and stuff, and then I look over at the mail, and I see that there's another one there, and that one is an approval, too.

Chelsea: Where are they? Do you have them?

Nick: Are you kidding me? They're in a safe with guard dogs around it.

Morgan: No, seriously, where are they?

Nick: They're at home. I'm gonna have them framed or something.

Chelsea: Where's Max?

Stephanie: Oh, he had to go.

Max: I miss you, Pop. [Clears throat]

Ava: Oh, I'm -- I'm -- I'm sorry. I didn't -- I didn't mean to bother you. I just --

Max: No, I-I was just about to leave anyway.

Ava: So, that's, um...that's Shawn Brady's grave?

Max: Uh, yeah. I'm sorry. Who are you?

Ava: Oh, I'm -- I'm nobody. Were you related to him?

Max: Yeah, he was my, uh, my Father. Did you know him?

Ava: No. No, I just, um...you know, a friend told me about him and I wanted to pay my respects. I heard he was an amazing man.

Max: Yeah. Yeah, he was. He was the best man I've ever known.

Ava: Would you tell me a little about him?

Max: Sure. Um...he was originally from Ireland. And he had a pub in Salem. [Clears throat] He had six kids. And he had the biggest heart of anybody I have ever met.

Ava: What else?

Max: Well, I mean, he was kind and understanding, strong when he needed to be, you know? He was so full of life, full of love. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He was so full of love.

Ava: Well...he really does sound wonderful.

Max: More than you could possibly imagine. You know, when he wasn't working or taking care of Ma or taking care of somebody...he was, uh, always down at the Salem Center for at-risk boys. He had a real big heart for poor kids. Especially the ones that everyone else...had given up on. Um...you know what? I-I got -- I got to get going.

Ava: I'm sorry. I'm so -- I'm so sorry.

E.J.: Thank you.

Sami: We're doing it for our son.

E.J.: Hi.

Maggie: Hi, you two. You look beautiful, Sami.

Sami: Oh, uh, thanks, Maggie.

E.J.: Doesn't she? You look absolutely wonderful yourself.

Maggie: Well, thank you.

E.J.: So, we are here to meet that gentleman from the Immigration Department.

Maggie: Are you having Visa problems?

E.J.: Apparently, yes.

Sami: The United States Government wants to make sure that our marriage is for real.

Maggie: Oh.

E.J.: See, we're doing it for the children.

Maggie: Oh, I can understand that. Well, I'll take you over to him.

E.J.: Thank you.

Sami: [Clears throat]

E.J.: Very nice to see you again, sir.

Leonard: Mr. DiMera.

E.J.: My pleasure. You remember my wife, Samantha, of course.

Leonard: Please, have a seat.

E.J.: [Clears throat] Good, need to rest those --

Sami: [Clears throat]

E.J.: Sorry, darling. Sorry. Sorry. There we are.

Sami: Thank you, dear.

E.J.: My pleasure as always. Let me give you that.

Maggie: Yes.

E.J.: Thank you. [Clears throat]

Maggie: Would anyone care for a drink?

Leonard: I'm fine with my iced tea.

E.J.: Yeah, please. I would --

Sami: [Clears throat]

E.J.: Darling, could I get you something to drink?

Sami: No. No, no, thank you.

Maggie: Okay.

E.J.: Okay, good. Good. I would love to have a martini up, dry, three olives.

Maggie: You bet.

E.J.: Thank you. [Clears throat] My wife says that when you get married, chivalry goes out the window.

Sami: [Chuckles]

E.J.: Bread?

Nick: Well, there's various ways hydrogen can be produced using electrolysis, some of which still require conventional fuel sources, which obviously defeats the whole purpose. I am boring you guys, huh?

Morgan: Oh, my God, no. Not at all. Go on.

Nick: Okay, so, hybrids are great for now, but we're still relying on fossil fuels, and I figure with modern accessibility to sustainable energy options, especially renewably derived hydrogen --

Stephanie: Morgan, do you have any clue what he's talking about?

Morgan: Maybe.

Stephanie: Morgan.

Morgan: Okay, I don't know what he's talking about, but I like the way he's saying it.

Nick: This is really fun. This is really fun, you guys.

Morgan: Oh, come on. I mean, we can still have a party, right?

Chelsea: Dude, we already talked about it. We're having a party here.

Stephanie: We just need to wait until Chelsea's feeling better.

Morgan: Yeah, you're right, 'cause otherwise we'd have to have it in here and it'd be a little cramped if we had a lot of people, huh?

Stephanie: Let's worry about the details later.

Morgan: Okay.

Chelsea: So, Nicholas, how long does it take for you to build this invention?

Nick: Um...

Max: Hey.

Nick: Dude, where'd you go? You just, like, disappeared.

Max: No, I had something I had to take care of and I got done, so I came back.

Morgan: Well, good, 'cause Nick's telling us about his invention.

Max: Oh, great.

Nick: Well, it's not really an invention, Morgan. It's just in the planning stages.

Max: You'll have to tell me about it sometime, Nick.

Nick: It's complicated.

Morgan: Tell us more.

Max: Well, hydrogen is the most plentiful element in the universe, and it's a major component of ice. Bet you didn't know that, did you?

Chelsea: I didn't know that you knew that.

Max: Well, I saw it on TV once.

Nick: That's pretty good, Max. So, anyway, as a naturally occurring crystalline solid, ice is considered a mineral, consisting of hydrogen oxide, and an unusual property of ice frozen at a pressure of one atmosphere...

Morgan: You know, you almost ruined Nick's project.

Max: Did I?

Morgan: I don't know why you did that. You tore his page out of his binder like you were trying to sabotage him.

Max: He got his grant, didn't he?

Morgan: No thanks to you.

Nick: ...At a temperature of zero degrees Celsius, whereas water has a density...

Max: Wow, you know, you're the one who told Nick about the page anyway, so what's the problem?

Morgan: I thought he was your friend.

Max: He is my friend.

Morgan: Then why would you do that? I don't get it. I mean, you almost ruined everything that he was working so hard for.

Max: Machine wouldn't have worked anyway.

Morgan: What does that mean?

Max: Nothing. I -- I just needed a piece of paper to write a phone number on. That's all.

Morgan: Max, you're sounding kind of sketchy.

Max: Sorry.

Morgan: Well, look, just be happy that I told Nick and only Nick, okay?

Chelsea: Wow. That is really fascinating, Nick.

Nick: [Chuckles]

Stephanie: Can I talk to you for a second?

Max: Mm-hmm.

Ava: Yeah, so, could you do that for me, huh? [Chuckles] Yeah, like right away. Yes, please. Oh, thank you, Daddy. You are the best. I love you. Bye.

Ava: [Breathing heavily] Oh, that was wonderful.

Steve: Oh, yeah, baby. Your old man would kill me if he knew I was here. [Chuckles]

Ava: Yeah, well, that's half the fun, isn't it?

Steve: Yeah, it does kind of make it a little more exciting.

Ava: Well, it couldn't be.

Steve: I love you, baby.

Ava: Then make an honest woman out of me.

Steve: I don't think Daddy would approve.

Ava: Oh, I don't care what Daddy thinks.

Steve: I know you don't care, but your daddy cares...what you do... and who you do it with.

Ava: And what he doesn't know can't hurt us.

Steve: What he finds out could hurt me.

Ava: Are you worried? Are you worried about what he might do to you?

[Siren blares]

E.J.: Cheers. So, Samantha and I are planning a trip to Fiji.

Leonard: When?

Sami: Actually --

E.J.: Summertime.

Sami: Mid-June.

E.J.: Yeah. We are, uh, trying to keep the passion in our relationship. Our sex life is quite stimulating.

Sami: [Clears throat] Ugh. Waiter.

Waiter: Yes, ma'am.

Sami: Look at this. My husband's fish is really overcooked. He hates that. Do you mind having them do it again a little bit more rare? He likes it jiggly.

Waiter: I'll have the chef prepare another one.

Sami: Thanks. Just tell him, you know, a couple seconds on each side. He wants it still flopping.

Waiter: I'll tell the chef.

Sami: Thanks.

E.J.: Thank you.

Leonard: Why did you get that sick look on your face?

E.J.: If the fish is, you know, really overdone, doesn't make me feel too good.

Sami: Darling, you don't mind if we start, do you?

E.J.: No, please. Go ahead. I'll just drink. Now, sweetheart, you must be careful not to put too much salt on. She has a tendency to blow up like a puffer, don't you, darling?

Leonard: Tell me about your daily routine.

E.J.: Our daily routine -- not a lot for anything much, really. I mean, most of it's either spent looking after the kids or it's just incessant lovemaking.

Sami: Well, that is when he's able to perform.

E.J.: [Laughs] You're very funny.

Leonard: And why don't you two live together?

Sami: What makes you think we don't live together?

Leonard: You have two separate addresses.

Sami: We do live together.

E.J.: I take full responsibility for keeping my apartment. It's full of my stuff. I just don't really particularly feel like selling it all. I will -- I suppose maybe I slacked off a little bit on that one.

Leonard: Slacked off.

Sami: E.J. just doesn't like change.

E.J.: No, bit of a fatal flaw, I'm afraid. Not a big fan of change. I prefer to ease into things slowly, you know?

Leonard: Is that why you're still out of a job? You have difficulty easing into one?

E.J.: Mr. Burke, I am doing everything I can to find a job.

Leonard: How do you pay the bills?

Sami: [Clears throat]

E.J.: The bills, yeah.

Sami: Darling, the bills are piling up, so we're gonna have to cut into our lovemaking time. You are going to have to find work soon.

Maggie: E.J., um, you have a telephone call.

E.J.: Oh, um...thank you. Would you excuse me for just a moment?

Sami: Of course.

E.J.: Thank you. Darling, be back in just a second.

Sami: [Chuckles] Go get the phone.

E.J.: Okay. Thank you so much. Where's the phone?

Maggie: There is no call. I just didn't like the way the man was glaring and taking notes. It doesn't look as though things are going well.

E.J.: No. No, he's a little bit tougher than we thought.

Maggie: Hmm. Don't worry. I have an idea.

E.J.: Really?

Leonard: Do you love your husband?

Ava: I'll give that son of a bitch one more minute and then things are gonna start getting seriously ugly around here. [Siren blares]

Angelo: No, no, no, no, no. No, no, I got you. Where you going? Shut off the alarm! I got her. Just get down there. Huh? Oh, someone's being a very naughty little girl.

Hope: Can't blame me for trying.

Angelo: But Ava will blame me if you get away. And believe me, that ain't gonna happen. So you just sit back... and relax... and, uh...enjoy the ride.

Sami: Spunky today, aren't you, sweetheart, my love?

Ava: I would never hurt someone on purpose.

Steve: You just threatened to kill my wife.

Ava: Well, you know what? That's different!
