Rolf: The food is almost ready, Mr. Black.
John: That's nice. The guests should be arriving soon.
Rolf: I chilled the wine, and there is orange juice for the little one. She certainly is quite a cutie, hmm?
John: Yes. She's the only one who doesn't bug me with a lot of stupid questions and doesn't stare at me like I'm some kind of an alien.
Rolf: Is there anything else you would like for me to do before the guests arrive?
John: No. I'm just anxious to get this over with, so when they arrive, start the hors d'oeuvres and just keep it moving.
Rolf: I will try, but it is not my area of expertise. I am a scientist, not Martha Stewart.
John: Who? [Doorbell rings] Let the games begin.
Marlena: Oh, my goodness.
Rolf: Please, please. Come this way. Follow me. Your guests have arrived, Mr. Black.
John: Well, right on time. I've been looking forward to this.
Parker: It's good to see you, Patch.
Steve: Yeah, I go by Steve now.
Parker: I like Patch better. It suits you.
Steve: You call me whatever you want. Just tell me you found Ava.
Parker: Look, man, I'm having trouble digging up information. It's hard trying to stay under her father's radar.
Steve: You got to come through for me, Parker. She's messing with my family now.
Parker: Look, man, I'll do what I can, but I'm not laying my life on the line for you.
Steve: Oh? You forget you owe me?
Stephanie: Dad. I saw your car. Who's this?
Lexie: Hey, Kayla.
Kayla: No luck yet, huh?
Lexie: No, not so far. I've gone over hundreds of case studies. I haven't come up with anything that could help your brother.
Kayla: Well, where's Daniel? I thought he'd be here with you.
Lexie: Daniel prefers to work alone. But you know what? He's brilliant, and he's driven, so I just hope he finds something soon.
Kayla: Well, you know what? We'll do research on our own. And between the three of us, we are going to find a way to help Bo.
Lexie: Wait, wait, wait. Are you feeling okay to work?
Kayla: Absolutely. My brother's life's at stake. Now scooch.
Lexie: Okay. Okay. All right. Let's get to it.
Bo: You're staring.
Hope: I thought you were sleeping.
Bo: I can feel how tense you are, even with my eyes closed. You're making me nervous.
Hope: I'm sorry.
Bo: No. No. Don't be sorry. Things aren't looking good.
Hope: Don't say that, Brady.
Bo: We got to face facts.
Bo: Fancy Face, we've got to. I mean, the old pancreas is about to hang out the "going out of business" sign.
Hope: The doctors are going to find a way, and they're gonna fix it.
Bo: I keep thinking about when my sister died. She was way too young.
Hope: Isabella had pancreatic cancer. You don't have that, Brady.
Bo: Well, the end result might be the same.
Hope: It will not be the same. Do you hear me?
Bo: I'm scared, too. But we've got to prepare ourselves for the possibility.
Hope: You're not giving up on me now, Brady.
Bo: No. No. I'm gonna fight this thing with everything I got. But something's going on inside me. I don't -- I don't know how much time I got left.
John: You can give your coats to Rolf. He will hang them up for you.
Rolf: Yes. I will be happy to take those for you.
Marlena: Thank you, Rolf.
Belle: Thank you.
Shawn D.: Thank you.
Rolf: Of course.
Belle: I just can't get used to you living in this place.
Shawn D.: Yeah, it kind of seems like Stefano's gonna wander out at any moment and have us arrested for trespassing.
John: Don't worry. He's in permanent hibernation. This estate and everything in it is mine.
John: If you break it, you buy it. Now, how many pennies do you have in your piggy bank?
Shawn D.: You really seem to have made yourself at home here.
John: With these accommodations, it wasn't difficult. Anyway, thank you for switching family dinner night to my place. I'm sure you'll find it more comfortable.
Marlena: We're just glad to see you. And... we brought you a little gift.
Kayla: This is so frustrating. There's nothing. Maybe Daniel's found something.
Lexie: Yeah, I hope so. Bo's latest test results aren't encouraging. There has to be something else we can try.
Kayla: You know what? I know a specialist in Zurich. He might be able to give us some insight or maybe something new we haven't tried. I'm gonna call him. We're gonna save Bo's life.
Lexie: Damn straight we are.
Hope: Do you want me to get Dr. Jonas?
Bo: No. No. There's nothing he can do till he figures out how to jump-start my pancreas. So, just...let him continue doing what he's doing. All I need is your love.
Hope: Oh, God. You have that. You know you have that. You always did, Brady.
Bo: Is that so?
Bo: That was a little questionable at the beginning. You kept picking fights with me.
Hope: I was feisty. But you were the difficult one. You were stubborn. You gave me a really hard time.
Bo: Yeah, well, you were spoiled and bratty.
Hope: Just the way you loved me.
Hope: We had a lot of growing up to do, didn't we?
Bo: I'm glad we did it together.
Hope: Yeah. Brady?
Bo: It's okay. It's okay.
Hope: You're not leaving me.
Bo: No. No. I'm right here. Just... just keep talking.
Hope: I have been doing a lot of thinking about our time on the Fancy Face, sailing around the world.
Bo: Yeah. Some of the best times in my life.
Hope: Mine too. Remember when we put Shawn D. -- Shawn D. Can you believe I just said Shawn D.?
Bo: Don't let him catch you saying that.
Hope: Exactly. We put Shawn to bed, and you and I would go up on deck, and we'd wrap our arms around each other. We'd just stare out at the ocean, just you and me. So peaceful. Hmm?
Bo: The only sound was the waves against the boat.
Hope: Sometimes we'd play our song -- remember? -- Over and over, and we'd dance. [Laughs] We would dance sometimes the whole night away under the stars -- thousands of twinkling stars. They were so beautiful, remember?
Hope: I can still...see that handsome face of yours in the moonlight.
Bo: I remember...exactly how you felt in my arms. So perfect and beautiful. You took my breath away. You still do.
Bo: [Breathing heavily]
Hope: All those nights we spent out there, it felt like we were the only ones left in the world. And I need for you to know something. I never, ever needed anything to make me happy except you and our son.
Bo: I hope I made you happy.
Hope: Are you kidding me? Of course. Every day.
Bo: We're very lucky to have all that time together, all those beautiful memories.
Hope: Well, we're gonna have a lot more.
Bo: I'm not so sure about that.
Parker: This your daughter, Patch? She's smokin'.
Steve: We're done here. You can go.
Parker: I'm in no hurry. I can stick around.
Steve: I said go.
Parker: Fine. I'll be in touch, Patch.
Stephanie: Who was that?
Steve: I'm working an undercover assignment with the Salem P.D. That sleaze was an informant.
Stephanie: He called you Patch. No one calls you that anymore.
Steve: It's an alias I'm using for the case.
Stephanie: It's not a very good alias if people already knew you by that name. What is really going on? Why are you lying to me?
Steve: Come on, baby. Let's go home. What are you doing out here, anyway?
Stephanie: I picked up groceries for Mom, but I'm not going anywhere until you answer my question.
Steve: I wasn't lying to you. I told you, the guy's a snitch for the case I'm working on.
Stephanie: I don't believe you.
Steve: Come on, how can you not believe this face?
Stephanie: Are you on drugs? Was that guy a drug dealer?
Steve: Drugs? What are you talking about? How could you say a thing like that?
Stephanie: You've been acting really strange. Look, I know you're hiding something from Mom and me. You said it wasn't a big deal, though.
Steve: It's not.
Stephanie: Then why haven't you at least told Mom?
Steve: Because she can't handle any stress right now. It could hurt the baby.
Stephanie: So, this secret would upset her that much? Mama is tougher than you think.
Steve: She's already had complications with the pregnancy.
Stephanie: Okay, I understand that you're trying to protect Mom and the baby, but I am perfectly healthy, and I want you to tell me what you're hiding.
John: Photo album.
Marlena: Mm-hmm. There are pictures of the entire family in there.
John: How nice. No, thank you.
Marlena: Why won't you look at the pictures?
John: Because those photos don't mean anything to me, just like the ones you showed me at the hospital.
Belle: Dad, how are you gonna know unless you look? Don't you want to at least try to remember?
John: Not really.
Shawn D.: Come on, John. It can't hurt to flip through a few pages. There's tons of pictures of Claire in here. How can you say no to that?
John: You fight dirty.
Shawn D.: Yeah, I do.
John: Who's this?
Marlena: Oh. That's Belle at 5.
Marlena: Brady. That's his senior prom.
John: Fantastic. And this?
Marlena: Oh. We don't know her. I think she got in the way of the camera. But it's a very nice picture of you and me in Stockholm.
John: What's wrong with my hair?
Belle: [Laughs] It's the 80's. You had bad hair.
Marlena: Are you remembering something?
John: No. That's why I knew this would be a waste of time.
Hope: You are really starting to make me angry now, Brady.
Bo: Hope --
Hope: Stop. No, don't. Don't talk like your death is inevitable.
Bo: We have to prepare ourselves for the possibility that you might lose me.
Bo: Death is gonna have to drag me out of here kicking and screaming, but if I don't make it --
Hope: You will make it.
Bo: If I don't make it, Hope, I don't want you to be alone.
Kayla: Thank you, Dr. Wagner. I really do appreciate your time. I'll do that. Okay. Bye-bye.
Lexie: What did he say?
Kayla: He didn't suggest anything that we haven't tried already. But he did suggest a new website for me to check out. He said there might be some useful information there.
Lexie: Well, that's a start. I'll go see if Daniel's made any progress.
Kayla: Okay. Wait. Wait, wait. Lexie, look at this.
Kayla: Oh, look at that. Radical procedures in pancreas donors.
Lexie: No, no, that can't be. I mean, even if we found a recently deceased match --
Kayla: No, no, they're using living donors. It's only been performed successfully a few times, but every single patient made a full recovery.
Lexie: That's impossible! A pancreas isn't like a liver. It's not an organ. It's a gland. You can't live without a pancreas. It doesn't regenerate, so --
Kayla: Not according to this. A living-donor transplant on a gland. They proved it. Oh, that's not all. Look at this.
Kayla: The first surgeon to perform this was none other than...
Lexie: Dr. Daniel Jonas?
Belle: Dad, come back in.
John: I am not who you want me to be.
Belle: I know. I'm sorry we pushed.
John: You skipped push. You went right to shove.
Belle: I don't think you understand. We thought you were dead. We grieved. We missed you. And now we have you back. And we still miss you because you're only here physically and not in any other way.
John: That's not my problem.
Belle: This isn't the real you.
John: This is the real me. And you're living in a fantasy world if you think that's ever gonna change.
Belle: [Chuckles] Great. Well, you go ahead and become the new-and-improved John. But I think you're gonna find he's a pretty lonely guy.
Claire: Can I stay with Pop-pop?
John: It's fine.
Belle: Okay. Be good.
Marlena: He's drawn to her, you know? She bounds into the room, and he lights up like --
Shawn D.: So, how'd it go?
Belle: Not well.
Shawn D.: I'm sorry.
Marlena: I was hoping it would make him realize how much we love him.
Belle: Instead, I think he feels frustrated that we prefer who he used to be.
Shawn D.: That's not your fault. He can't blame you for that.
Marlena: Maybe it is.
Steve: Well, your mama raised a real spitfire, didn't she?
Stephanie: She always said I inherited that from you.
Steve: So, I'm guessing you're not gonna let this drop.
Stephanie: Not a chance.
Steve: You better sit down.
Stephanie: So, who was that guy?
Steve: Someone I knew some years ago before got my memory back.
Stephanie: And you went by Patch?
Steve: Yeah. I went by Patch because that's what everybody called me. I got in contact with him again recently because he has information on someone we both knew back then.
Steve: When Stefano had me, I escaped for about a year. During that time, I got involved with this -- this crime family.
Stephanie: You mean like the Mafia?
Steve: Yeah, like that. When I was involved with them, I, uh, I kind of had a thing with the boss's daughter.
Stephanie: The mafia boss's daughter?
Steve: Eventually I left her. Just recently, she managed to track me down.
Steve: And she's not happy I left her without an explanation. She, uh -- she wants revenge or something, or, I don't know, maybe she just wants me back. It's hard to tell. But I've got a guard watching your mama.
Steve: And I'm putting one on you, too.
Stephanie: We need guards? This is unbelievable. We have to tell Mom, and we have to tell her right now.
Lexie: I can't get ahold of Daniel.
Kayla: Why wouldn't he say something about this procedure?
Lexie: I don't know.
Kayla: Maybe we should tell Bo and Hope.
Lexie: I think we should wait until we've consulted with Daniel.
Hope: What the hell are you talking about? I don't want anybody else. Do you hear me? I could never love anyone but you.
Bo: Well, good. If I live, I'll hold you to that.
Hope: Damn it, Brady, you're not going to die. You have one option -- and you listen to me -- and that is to get better.
Bo: Well, if I could recover on determination alone, this thing doesn't stand a chance, but, Hope, my body's breaking down. I can feel it.
Hope: You have to fight, and you have to keep fighting because your family needs you.
Bo: Believe me, I don't want to go anywhere.
Hope: Then don't. Then don't. 'Cause you know what? I'm not letting you die. Do you hear me?
Bo: You win.
Hope: Good. I love you.
Bo: I love you, Fancy Face.
Hope: I know. I'm calling our son to let him know how argumentative you are. [Equipment beeps rapidly] Bo! Oh, God!
Lexie: What happened?
Hope: He was just talking and --
Lexie: Come on. Come on, Bo! Come on! Charge 200! Come on. Come on. Clear.
Marlena: We have to ease up on your dad. He's got to know that we love him, whether he remembers his past or not.
Belle: Mom, he doesn't care if we love him.
Marlena: I think he cares more than he lets on.
Belle: Oh, God. I hate Stefano. I could kill him for what he did to Dad.
Shawn D.: Hey, you.
Rolf: Um... may I help you with something, sir?
Shawn D.: Yeah, you can tell us how to get John's memories back.
Rolf: I'm afraid that's not possible.
Belle: Why? You performed the procedure, right? So you know how to reverse it.
Rolf: I'm sorry. His condition is permanent.
Belle: You should be in prison for what you did to him.
Rolf: Your father was kind enough not to press charges.
Shawn D.: I think you're lying. I think you know how to get the old John back.
Rolf: I'm telling the truth.
Shawn D.: Maybe if we strap you down in that lab of yours, something might come to mind.
Rolf: Do you smell that? I think dinner is burning.
Shawn D.: I do not trust him.
Marlena: Neither do I.
John: You know, I don't get your grandmother. She's always tripping in the past instead of living in the moment. She can't accept that things are different now, and that bugs me. But you understand, don't you? I'll bet they're talking about me right now. Why don't you go in there and spy on them?
Claire: Let's go together, Pop-Pop.
John: I don't think you understand the concept of spying. It's not gonna work if we're both in the same room. And don't call me pop-pop anymore. You can call me John.
Claire: Okay, John.
Steve: No. We can't tell your mom. Now I regret telling you.
Stephanie: This whole thing is crazy.
Steve: I know, baby. I know.
Stephanie: I can't believe you were with this other woman, and Mom doesn't even know about it.
Steve: Listen, I didn't have any memory of my life with your mom at that time. Otherwise I never would have been with Ava.
Stephanie: So, her name's Ava. When did you...
Steve: Before I went to Cincinnati, when I thought I was Nick Stockton.
Stephanie: Did you love her?
Steve: No. No.
Stephanie: This is -- this is really crazy. Mama is gonna be so upset.
Steve: No, she's not, because we're gonna keep it a secret.
Stephanie: No, we're not. You're gonna tell her, and if you don't, I will.
John: Rolf will be right out with the appetizers.
Marlena: Oh, so we are having supper.
John: Claire's hungry. And I'm sorry for leaving.
Marlena: Well, that's okay. Here you go, sweetie girl. Bring it over here. I was thinking maybe next time we come over, rather than bring you some pictures, I'll just make you a pie.
Rolf: What are you doing?! That belongs to Stefano.
John: Actually, it's mine, as is everything in this house.
Belle: He is so creepy.
John: Actually, he is kind of strange.
Steve: Stephanie, your mom can't know about this. The doctor said she can't handle any stress right now. It's a high-risk pregnancy.
Stephanie: But she has a right to know.
Steve: And she will know. I'll tell her at some point. But you just have to give me time to get the situation under control.
Stephanie: What are you gonna do?
Steve: I'm gonna protect my family.
Stephanie: [Sighs] Just promise me you'll be careful.
Steve: Baby, don't you worry. I don't want you to worry about anything. You just let me handle it.
Stephanie: How could you get involved with such dangerous people?
Steve: I don't know. I was lost. Hell, I didn't even know who I was when I was with Ava. And I did a lot of things I'm not proud of. But now I'm back where I belong. And nothing means more to me than you and your mom and that baby. I'm sorry I got us into this mess. Can you forgive me?
Lexie: Clear! [Equipment beeps] Clear!
Kayla: Okay. It's all right. Sit down.
Hope: Lex, how is he?
Lexie: He's not stable yet, but he is back.
Hope: Can I see him?
Hope: Thank you.
Kayla: That was a close call. We are running out of time. I should talk to her about the experimental surgery.
Lexie: I think it's our only option.
Kayla: Can we talk?
Hope: What is it? Is it bad news?
Kayla: No, actually, it could be just the opposite. Lexie and I were doing some research on Bo's condition, and we came upon something that might work.
Hope: What? What is it?
Kayla: Well, it's a radical procedure. It's only been done a few times before.
Hope: How risky is it?
Kayla: Well, I don't really know how many options we have at this point.
Hope: Kay, what do you think?
Kayla: I think it might be Bo's only real shot at survival.
Hope: So, Dr. Jonas can perform the surgery?
Kayla: He's done it before. Not many other doctors have.
Hope: I almost lost him today. I can't live without him, Kay.
Kayla: The surgery might be the answer to all our prayers.
Hope: How soon can you do it?
Kayla: Well, we need to find a donor first. That could take some time.
Hope: I want to hear more about the procedure -- more information.
Kayla: I'll page Dr. Jonas. Don't give up.
Hope: Not ever. Not on you.
Stephanie: Of course I forgive you. It's just a lot to take in.
Steve: I know. I appreciate your understanding.
Stephanie: You have absolutely no feelings for this woman, right?
Steve: No. No. My heart belongs to your mom 100%.
Steve: So, we're agreed? We don't tell her about Ava?
Stephanie: I hate keeping something like this from her, but...I guess you're right. I mean, we can't have her looking over her shoulder the entire pregnancy. Like you said, it could put the baby's health at risk.
Steve: I'm gonna protect us, baby. I promise.
Shawn D.: Ooh, checkmate!
Belle: I let you win.
Shawn D.: Oh, what? You let me win?
Belle: Yeah, I let you win.
Shawn D.: Oh, no way.
Belle: Yes way.
Shawn D.: I say this calls for a victory snack.
Shawn D.: Yeah!
Belle: [Mocking] Yeah.
Shawn D.: Ooh, look at you.
Marlena: [Laughs] It's good to see you two enjoying each other.
Belle: Well, it's a new beginning for us.
Shawn D.: We're even making plans for the future.
Marlena: Oh, tell me about that.
Belle: Actually, I think we should hold off until Bo's feeling a little bit better.
Shawn D.: Let's just say that we are hoping to embark on a great adventure together.
Marlena: Ooh, that sounds very intriguing.
Belle: I think you'll be happy for us.
Marlena: I bet I will, too. I've been making some plans myself.
Belle: Really? What's that?
Marlena: Well, I've been focusing on work. And I've been away from my practice for a while, so I thought I'd add some more patients and get a little busier. I think it's better if I just focus on somebody else's problems rather than my own.
Belle: Right, well, it'll keep you busy.
Shawn D.: John, what about you?
Marlena: Yes, you've been very quiet. What are your plans for the future?
John: Well, let's just say that I have plans.
Marlena: Well, that sounds pretty mysterious.
Belle: What are your plans?
John: Well, as Claire would say, that's for me to know...
Claire: And you to find out! [Laughter]
Marlena: What are you talking about?
John: As I have gone through Stefano's papers, I'M...amazed at how much of the business end I understand. Well, my brother started well. He amassed a lot of money. But recently, he seemed to let his business interests slide. Probably was too busy messing with other people's minds. [Chuckles] Anyway, as I have analyzed his assets and portfolios, logical starting point to rebuild the empire would be with the shipping lines right here in Salem.
Shawn D.: That sounds very ambitious.
John: And what do you think, Blondie?
Marlena: I'm not sure what to say.
Rolf: Dinner's ready.
John: Come on. We'll go over the details while we eat.
Belle: I want my dad back.
Steve: What would you say about leaving town till this whole thing blows over?
Stephanie: I would say, "No way in hell."
Steve: I thought that's what you'd say.
Stephanie: Come on. I have so many good things going for me here now -- school, the sorority, my new internship with Anna, but most importantly, my relationship with Max. We've been doing really well. You can't ask me to put that on hold.
Steve: I know I can't.
Stephanie: Besides, I want to stay here and help you protect Mom. And we're family. We have to stick together.
Steve: I'm still putting a guard on you.
Stephanie: I can take care of myself.
Steve: I know. I know you're a big, strong girl, but it's just a precaution.
Steve: I'm getting kind of hungry. You got any good snacks in that bag?
Stephanie: What do you think?
Steve: For your mama.
Stephanie: What do you want, chips? Chips and dip!
Lexie: We've paged Dr. Jonas. We'll tell him you want to hear more about the surgery.
Hope: Thank you.
Lexie: In the meantime... you should call the family to the hospital. This might be their last chance to say goodbye.
Lexie: Come here.
Stephanie: We're all gonna gain weight during Mom's pregnancy.
Steve: Can't be avoided. You better hurry up before I eat all of Mom's chips. Let's get out of here.
Stephanie: All right. Let me get my purse.
Steve: Wait a minute. Oh! Hi, sweetness. What's up? On my way. It's your Uncle Bo. Come on. We're going to the hospital.
Shawn D.: It's my cell. I left it in here. [Cellphone ringing] Hello? Mom, what's up? Okay, okay. Listen, no, be strong. I'll be there in a second. All right, I love you.
Philip: Daniel Jonas will figure it out. He's one of the best diagnosticians in the world.
Chelsea: I just hope he didn't get here too late.
John: I keep forgetting about the Brady part.
Marlena: Maybe because you're so focused on becoming all DiMera.
Kayla: Why wouldn't you at least mention it?
Daniel: Maybe because odds are it won't be successful.
