[Knock on door]
Anna: Who is it?
[Knock on door]
Anna: Oh! Oh, for heaven's sakes. I'm coming. [Exhales sharply] What do you want?
Tony: Do you know your face is green?
Anna: It's a beauty mask, darling.
Tony: I know. But "beauty mask" is a real misnomer for that thing.
Anna: What do you want?
Tony: Oh, I need for you to get dressed right away and come with me. It's a matter of life and death.
Sami: Do you have to drive so fast? I mean, seriously.
E.J.: Come on. Consider yourself lucky I learned to drive on this side of the road.
Sami: That's comforting.
E.J.: Why do you think your mother and John want to see us at the mansion anyway?
Sami: I don't know, but at this point, I'm just worried about getting there alive.
E.J.: Goodness. I didn't realize I married such a nag.
Sami: Well, it's a good thing that you think of me that way because our marriage of convenience is no longer convenient for either of us, and I'm just as happy to get the annulment as, obviously, you are.
John: I didn't know this place was so huge. My memory's a little foggy from all the drugs Stefano was feeding me, but from what I can remember, I was mainly restricted to the lab. Didn't know there were so many rooms.
Marlena: I'm sure there's a terrible story to go with each room. This place gives me the creeps.
John: I wonder how much all this is worth.
Marlena: It was bought with blood money.
John: Blood money well spent. Say what you will about my big brother. He had good taste.
Marlena: Doesn't it bother you to know how the money was gotten?
John: No. Not really. Why do you have to be such a downer?
Marlena: Because I'm trying to help you understand that Stefano's empire was built with blood, corruption.
John: If you really want to help, blondie, why don't you look around for bank-account records? I want to see how much my brother was raking in.
Marlena: I can't believe you're talking like this.
John: Talking like what?
Marlena: Like a DiMera.
Lexie: Hey, Kayla.
Lexie: Ooh, what pretty flowers.
Kayla: Yeah, aren't they nice? Adrienne sent those.
Lexie: How sweet.
Lexie: I miss her.
Kayla: Yeah, me too.
Lexie: Where's Stephanie?
Kayla: I sent her home. It's late.
Lexie: How are you feeling?
Kayla: Physically, I think I'm a lot better. Emotionally, I'm not really doing so great. You know, my pop dying and Bo being sick. And now this baby... you know, when you told me I was pregnant, I was so excited and relieved.
Kayla: And now I'm just overwhelmed with worry.
Lexie: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. You need to relax, all right? The spotting and the cramping stopped. You and the baby are fine.
Kayla: Yeah, I know. I wish Steve could be here right now. I just feel better when he's around. You should have seen him on that plane. He was such a hero. He really saved all of us.
Roman: Hey. What are you doing out of bed?
Steve: Oh, I'm just stretching my legs, commissioner.
Roman: Yeah, well, let me get you back into bed here. Come on. Don't push yourself. You've been through a lot.
Steve: I'm fine.
Roman: Come on. Get up in there.
Steve: I'm just fine. [Groans]
Roman: Got it?
Steve: I thought I was fine. Just do me a favor. Don't tell Kayla I was walking around. You know she's a real stickler when it comes to following doctor's orders.
Roman: Your secret is safe. Listen, I know it's late, but I wanted to talk to you about the crash if you're up to it.
Steve: Whatever you need.
Roman: All right, good. Good. Just tell me everything you know.
Steve: What I know is somebody sabotaged that plane. Somebody wanted it to crash. And I'm gonna make sure that person burns in hell.
Anna: What are you talking about? Are you in some kind of trouble?
Tony: Well, quite possibly. Why don't you let me come in and explain?
Anna: Wait right there, buster. Need I remind you, I'm not speaking to you.
Tony: You're speaking right now.
Anna: Don't get technical with me. I'm mad at you.
Tony: I'm very well aware of that, but this is important.
Anna: Fine. Come on in, but don't sit down. You're not staying long.
Tony: Thanks. Oh. Well, I'm sure you're aware that Stefano...had a stroke. He's in a...coma. But I had conferred with Lexie and E.J. and we decided to have him transferred to an institution rather than pursue further medical treatment.
Anna: Well, probably wasn't a difficult choice.
Tony: Oh, no. It was a lot more difficult than one would have thought.
Anna: So, you barged in here to discuss your moral dilemma. That hardly sounds like a life-or-death situation.
Tony: Well, I was going to get to that part. Marlena called me, wants me to go by the mansion tonight. She wouldn't say why, but it just didn't sound good. I'm just afraid that Stefano might have managed to recover.
Tony: And he just might be a tad angry. And if I have to deal with him, I'd like to think -- I would appreciate having the woman I love by my side.
Anna: [Chuckles] So, you want...me -- you want to drag me into a potentially explosive situation where Stefano might be seeking revenge? Oh, well, thank you, Tony. Thanks very much, but I'm not really interested in being used as a human shield.
Tony: No, no, no. I just was looking for your support.
Anna: Tony, you're not a child. The next thing, you'll be asking me to hold your hand when you cross the street. Now, will you stop wasting my time and leave?
Tony: All right, all right. All right, all right. [Groans] All right. You're right. I was just trying to have an excuse to spend some time with you. Oh, Anna. I miss you. I can't tell you what it's like. I just have been going crazy when you're not around. I think about you all the time. Do you think... well, I know that you're upset with me, but do you think you can find it in your heart to...put all that aside just for one night and grace me with your presence?
Anna: Well, I guess I could go with you. [Both laugh]
E.J.: So, listen, now that we're back in our apartments, I was wondering if maybe Johnny could come and stay with me once in a while -- Allie, too. Hey. Did you hear what I just said?
Sami: Oh. No, sorry. I wasn't listening. What?
E.J.: Nothing. It's all right. We'll talk about it another time.
Sami: I can't believe my family was in a plane crash. I can't believe my grandfather is dead. Uncle Bo's still sick. Oh, my God. It's like my family's still under attack.
E.J.: At least we know who's not behind it, eh? My father still hasn't recovered from that stroke.
Sami: It was really hard for you to abandon Stefano, wasn't it?
E.J.: It seems better for everybody that he's in a coma. I would be lying if I was to say there wasn't some part of me that hoped with us going over to the mansion this evening, there might be some news of his recovery.
Sami: No way. John even said that he was thinking about moving in there. There's no way he would do that if Stefano was recovering.
E.J.: Well... not unless he was still under my father's control.
Sami: He can't be. You don't think that -- we have to get there, like now. Why are you driving so slow? Speed up! We have to get there, like, as soon as we can!
E.J.: All right. Okay. Fine.
John: Of course I sound like a DiMera. I am one, aren't I?
Marlena: By blood, perhaps. But you are much more a Brady. And that is a heritage you want to embrace.
John: Well, for now I've had my fill of Irish pubs and warm beer. Right now I'd like to explore the finer things in life.
Marlena: John, you've had money for years. You never cared about it before.
John: Apparently I didn't know how to put it to good use. I mean, look at this place. It's amazing.
Marlena: Have you forgotten how we lived?
John: Times have changed. His highness has been knocked off the throne, and there is a new heir in town. Although, I think we ought to go visit my half brother and make sure the bastard's really out of the picture.
Steve: Then the plane's radio went dead. Then the computer, the instruments, all the controls went out. Someone sabotaged the electronics, man.
Roman: So, you don't think it could have been a glitch?
Steve: No. When I opened up that control panel, all the wires were fried. Looked like somebody had attached some kind of small explosive to it. And the pilots were drugged, and they died. Marlena found some kind of powder residue in their water bottles.
Roman: Yeah. Yeah, Shawn told us about that. You know, normally when something like this happens, Stefano is our number-one suspect.
Steve: Yeah, but he's still comatose, isn't he?
Roman: Yes, he is, which makes it highly unlikely that he was behind this. But somebody sure as hell sabotaged that plane. You know, I wonder if whoever did this wanted to kill everybody on board. Maybe there was just a single target. And if that's the case, that person would have to be crazy enough to kill all those other people.
Steve: Well, besides Stefano, I mean, who would be crazy enough, vicious enough to do a thing like that?
Steve: That person would have to be pretty damn crazy.
Lexie: I'm so sorry about Shawn.
Kayla: Thank you. Listen, I know that your relationship with your father is complicated, but it can't be easy for you knowing that Stefano isn't really there.
Lexie: Thank you for understanding, especially after all the things he did to you and your family.
Kayla: Well, I may not care for your father, but I really care for you.
Lexie: I love you. Oh, and speaking of my father, I've got to get going. I'm already late.
Kayla: Well, get going then, boss.
Lexie: Oh, you heard about the promotion, huh?
Kayla: Yeah, I did. I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to congratulate you. You are gonna make an excellent chief of staff.
Lexie: Why, thank you. And as your boss, I am ordering you to relax.
Kayla: Yes, ma'am.
Woman: Excuse me, nurse. Would you happen to know the room number for a patient named Steve Johnson?
Roman: The problem is we don't have any solid leads. But I promise you this -- we will keep looking. Now, I'm gonna let you get some sleep, but if you remember anything, give me a call.
Steve: I'll do that. Hey, Roman.
Steve: I'm really sorry about your pop. He was a good man. And he was a real hero up in that plane. You would have been proud of him.
Roman: Well, I always was proud of him. I'll always be proud of him. But thank you, Steve. That means a lot. Now...you get some sleep, okay?
Steve: Oh, God. Oh, God, no. I'm the one she wanted! [Glass shatters] Aah!
Nurse: Mr. Johnson, what in the hell happened in here?
Steve: You got to -- you got to help me. You got to help me get up. You got to help me try to get up.
Nurse: No, no, no. Just relax.
Nurse: Mr. Johnson --
Steve: Help me get up.
Nurse: Getting excited -- this is not good for you. Relax! Relax, Mr. Johnson. Please, calm down.
Steve: Can you get me a phone or something?
[Opera music playing]
Tony: The door's unlocked. The music's so loud.
Sami: What is that?
Sami: Oh, my God. He's back.
Anna: It's a trap, Tony. I'm out of here.
Tony: Calm down.
Marlena: Sorry. I didn't hear you come in. [Music stops]
Sami: Mom? When did Stefano recover?
Marlena: What are you talking about?
John: Thanks for turning off the music. It was annoying me.
Sami: John, for a second, we thought you were Stefano.
Marlena: I thought he was still hospitalized.
E.J.: If Stefano is still in the hospital, then why did you ask us all to come down here?
Marlena: It's kind of a long story. You know that we found Colleen Brady when we were in Ireland.
Tony: Shawn's sister.
Anna: Yeah, she's the one that wrote all the letters and had a thing for Santo DiMera, right?
Anna: I thought she threw herself off a cliff.
Marlena: Well, she faked her death. And actually, she left the country. When she left Ireland, she found out she was pregnant with Santo's child.
E.J.: Wow, that's unbelievable.
Marlena: A boy.
Tony: So, what happened to him? Does anybody know where he is?
John: He's right here.
Anna: [Laughing] Where?
John: I'm the bastard love child of Santo and Colleen.
E.J.: So, wait a second. That means that you are, uh...
Anna: You're a Brady?
Tony: You're a DiMera.
Sami: Mom, this is crazy.
Marlena: I understand.
Sami: I don't understand how this could have happened.
Marlena: We discovered so much.
Tony: So, you're not Daphne DiMera's son, which means we're not half brothers.
John: We were brothers?
Tony: Oh, I'm sorry. You lost your memory. I'm Tony DiMera, and this is Anna.
John: So, you're a DiMera, too.
Tony: Oh, in name only. I was raised Stefano's son, but I was lucky enough to escape that genetic curse.
E.J.: So, I mean, did my father or my grandfather know anything about this?
Marlena: Apparently not. Stefano discovered recently that Colleen was alive. He would never had sent John to kill her if he had known he would be reuniting mother and child.
Sami: I just -- I can't believe...that you're Stefano's half brother.
Lexie: What did you just say?
Anna: Lexie, you missed the big announcement. John is the son of Colleen Brady and Santo DiMera.
Lexie: They had a child?
Marlena: I know that's hard to believe, but it's true. I wish we had more details, but Colleen's passed away.
Lexie: So, all these years that we've been friends, you were actually my uncle?
John: Let's reconstruct the family tree another time. I want to call Stefano's lawyers and look into his estate. Do you have a number?
E.J.: What exactly do you want with my father's estate?
John: As Santo's other son, I'm entitled to my share of the DiMera estate. And with my big brother out of commission, I figure I get control of just about everything.
E.J.: Oh, really? Is that what you guess?
Sami: Okay. Okay. John, why would you want anything to do with the DiMeras?
John: Let's just say I'm curious to look into my roots.
Anna: [Chuckles] Talk about the roots of all evil.
John: I just want to see what rightfully belongs to me. After everything Stefano's done to destroy my life, don't you think I deserve a little compensation? I do. So, come on. Let's celebrate. The three of us. Have a drink with your uncle.
Nurse: Now, Mr. Johnson, you've got to calm down.
Steve: I got to get out of here. I got to find her.
Steve: I got to find her.
Nurse: Who? Your wife? She's fine. You just stay in bed.
Steve: She's got to pay. I got to make sure she pays.
Nurse: I hope you're not talking about Dr. Johnson.
Steve: You don't understand. I got to get out of here!
Nurse: You're obviously upset about something, but you need to relax so you can get better. Look, this sedative will help.
Steve: No, no, no, no, no! I don't want that.
Nurse: I can either give you this shot, or I can tell your wife how uncooperative you're being.
Steve: You're gonna mess -- don't -- don't upset my wife. No, please. Please, listen, I'll calm down, but no shot, please?
Nurse: Mr. Johnson...
Steve: Okay. Okay, just give me -- just give me the damn shot.
Steve: Just half.
Nurse: ...Please, get some rest. I don't want to hear another peep out of you. I'll have somebody come in here and clean up this mess. I just had to sedate Mr. Johnson. I think he's still traumatized by the accident.
Woman: Well, it's no wonder.
Nurse: It's amazing that he and Dr. Johnson walked away from that accident without any permanent injuries.
Woman: I know. Hey, did you hear the news?
Nurse: What news?
Woman: Dr. Johnson is pregnant.
Nurse: Get out!
Nurse: How exciting! Oh, I'm so happy for them. They've been trying for a long time.
Woman: That's what I heard!
Woman: Excuse me.
Woman: I asked for Steve Johnson's room number earlier, but I really meant to ask for his wife's.
Nurse: Yeah, it's right over there. Excuse me, Miss. Visiting hours are over.
Woman: I was just gonna go --
Nurse: I said visiting hours are over.
Tony: I'm sorry to pull you out like this, but I thought it would be best if we could speak in private.
E.J.: Look, does he just think that he can just waltz in and take over the estate?
Tony: What, are you afraid you're gonna get squeezed out, Junior?
E.J.: Please. I think I've already been pretty much disowned by father. No, I just don't understand why John would want anything to do with the DiMeras.
Marlena: Well, John has done things lately I never imagined that he would do. You see, I thought when we went to Ireland, maybe I would see more of the old John, but although I saw glimpses of that person when his mother died, for the most part, he's a complete stranger to me.
Sami: John, you're upsetting my mom.
John: She'll be fine. I'll buy her a diamond necklace, a new car, put a smile on her face.
Sami: No, that's actually not what's gonna make my mom happy.
Anna: Well, it'd make me happy.
Sami: Look, my mom loves you. She loves that man that you are inside. She doesn't care about material possessions.
Anna: You know, I never really did understand that about Marlena.
Sami: Look, don't you want to be that guy, you know, again? Don't you want to be that man that everyone loved and admired so much?
John: If you see a switch on me, why don't you flip it? If you don't, I don't want to hear about him anymore. I like me as I am. You like me, don't you?
Anna: Oh, well, I do feel like we have a lot more in common now. [Foot stomps] Ow!
Sami: You're not helping.
John: And people say that I'm rude.
John: Let me fix that for you.
Anna: Oh, no, that's okay. I'm sure it'll... be fine. [Happily] Oh. My. You do have strong hands.
Sami: You're kidding me, right?
John: That's the interesting thing about feet. This area controls the pain, and this area controls the pleasure.
Tony: What the hell is going on here?
Marlena: Well, they can be fun for a while, but I'm awfully glad they left. I'm heading home. You coming?
John: I am home.
Marlena: Are you saying you're planning on living here?
John: No reason to let this magnificent mansion go to waste. You can stay, too, if you like.
Marlena: No. I'm not comfortable here.
Marlena: I'm not giving up on you.
John: Good to know.
Steve: [Groaning] I got to find her. I got to find her.
Nurse: Mr. Johnson.
Nurse: This was left for you at the nurses station.
Steve: Oh, my God, she's here?
Anna: I told you. He was just massaging my foot.
Tony: Oh, yeah. You were just giggling like a silly little schoolgirl.
Anna: You know, you have no right to be jealous, Tony.
Tony: Let me tell you something. I am not jealous. I just thought it was inappropriate for you to be flirting with Marlena's brain-damaged husband.
Anna: Well, for the record, he was flirting with me.
Tony: Well, of course he was flirting with you. Why wouldn't he be flirting with you, a magnificent and enchanting creature? Why don't you let me stay the night?
Anna: [Chuckles] You canít. Tomorrow's my first day of work, and I have to have my beauty sleep.
Tony: Work. Since when do you work?
Anna: Remember I told you about that interview?
Tony: I didn't take you seriously.
Anna: You see, that's the problem, Tony. You never take me seriously.
Tony: So, what will you be doing?
Anna: I took a job as an executive at an advertising agency.
Tony: Excuse me?
Anna: Oh, yes. That's right. You heard me. I'm going to be working for your competition. As of now, you and I are officially rivals.
Sami: I can't believe John's a DiMera.
E.J.: A Brady.
Sami: You said that like it was a bad thing.
E.J.: You said that like it was a bad thing.
Sami: You don't think it's a bad thing that John turns out to be Stefano's half brother?
E.J.: I don't know. Maybe it'll turn the family around? [Laughs]
Sami: Or maybe the DiMera blood will infect him permanently.
E.J.: That DiMera blood. You mean like it infected me?
Sami: No offense. It's infected the rest of your family just as badly.
E.J.: That's not true. Look at Tony. Look at Lexie.
Sami: Oh, believe me, they have both had their moments.
E.J.: You've all had your moments, darling.
Sami: I'm just worried about my mom. She loves John a lot.
E.J.: Well, maybe this will be the thing that brings him back to the man that he was.
Sami: Maybe her love for him will mean that she is so blind to who he has become that it'll end up hurting her or destroying her.
Steve: Got to warn -- I got to warn -- [Moans] Kayla. [Groans]
Steve: Oh, baby.
Kayla: What are you doing?
Steve: Kayla... Kayla. Will you --
Kayla: What are you doing, baby? You know what? I, um... I snuck out of my room to come see you. Is that what you were trying to do, too -- come see me?
Steve: Are you okay? Is the baby okay?
Kayla: The baby is fine. The baby is fine. You don't have to worry. Come on. Let's get you back up into bed, okay?
Steve: Wait, I don't want to go to bed.
Kayla: Careful. Come on. I'll help you. Come on. Come on. Oh, baby. We'll get you back in bed. Come on. There you go.
Steve: I can't go back. I can't go back here.
Kayla: One foot up.
Steve: There's something I need to do.
Kayla: Shh, shh! Just get back in bed. Come on. You're okay. It's okay. Settle down. You know, this nurse told me that you were so agitated that she had to sedate you. You just concerned about the baby?
Steve: No. No.
Kayla: Come on. Come on.
Steve: Yes, I'm -- I'm -- baby, I got to tell you Ė
Kayla: Tell me what? What is it? What's wrong? Come on. What is it?
Steve: I got to tell you something.
Tony: You know, if you wanted a job with an ad agency, why didn't you tell me? I would have given you a job.
Anna: Because I don't want you to give me anything.
Tony: That's not what I meant.
Anna: Well, it is what you think. You see me as some empty-headed little air head who can't stand on her own two feet. You don't respect me.
Tony: Well, of course I respect you. What are you, insane?
Anna: Well, you don't treat me like an equal. You made that obvious when you decided to settle down in Salem without even asking me.
Tony: But I told you, I thought you liked living here.
Anna: I do. That's not the point. You think I'm gonna follow you around like some lovesick puppy. You think that you can earn my undying adoration by just patting me on the head and tossing me a treat every once in a while? Well, it's patronizing.
Tony: Are you gonna teach me a lesson by working for the competition? What, are you gonna set an example to me and prove that you're a force to be reckoned with?
Tony: That's -- that's ludicrous.
Tony: I bought the best ad agency in town. I've got the resources. Not to mention the years of experience working successfully with international conglomerates.
Anna: Well, it's been a few years. You might be a tad rusty.
Tony: Oh. [Chuckles lightly] Fine. Fine. I tell you what -- you go ahead and do whatever you need to do to work out this competition. But I'm telling you something -- you're setting yourself up for failure.
Anna: I think it's time for you to leave.
Tony: Ugh, Anna, you just frustrate me to no end. [Sighs] Oh. I'm sorry. I still love you. And there's nothing... that you have to do to prove anything.
Anna: Tony, I want your love and your respect.
Tony: But you have that. Can't you see that?
Tony: Oh, I'm sorry. I must be doing something wrong. Good night.
E.J.: Do you really think that John would be a danger to your mother?
Sami: I hope not. But you saw how he was with her tonight. He didn't even care that he was upsetting her. They are still married, whether he remembers it or not, and he doesn't even care that this is so difficult and incredibly painful for her.
E.J.: The same way that it's difficult and painful to be married to me?
Sami: Don't compare our situation to my mom and John's. She really loves him.
E.J.: And you don't love me?
Sami: E.J., we're just gonna get the annulment, okay? I don't want to talk about it anymore.
E.J.: Yes, dear.
John: Hmm. Well, big brother, it looks like I'm getting what I deserve. And it looks like you're finally getting what you deserve. Thanks for setting me up in such fine accommodations. Here's to you... Stefano DiMera. [Chuckles]
Steve: Oh, baby. I need to tell you... I got something to say.
Kayla: Tell me what?
Kayla: Sweet dreams, beautiful.
Ashley: You know, you might be off the hook with the cops, Chelsea, but you're not off the hook with us.
Bo: I'm sick. What if Pop did this for nothing?
Lexie: He did not do it for nothing.
