Chloe: When Shawn's grandfather said Colleen wanted to see her family, did you have any idea it would be to tell them she was dying?
Philip: We knew she was frail and weak, but to find out she was dying -- that was a shock.
Chloe: Yeah. The Bradys just got Colleen back. To lose her again like this -- it's a cruel irony.
Philip: This is gonna hit them all very hard.
Shawn: There has to be something that we can do, Leeny.
Kayla: Let us get you back to Salem or Dublin or London or someplace. You need to be in a first-rate hospital.
Colleen: No. I fear it's too late for that. Cancer's been here for years.
Bo: You can't give up.
Colleen: Believe me, Bo, I'm not giving up. If I was, I would have been dead and buried months ago. No. I waited. I did everything I could to keep me family safe and finally wanted to see all of you ones that I'd only heard about... and to see me beloved brother one more time.
Chloe: Philip... are you upset that Shawn and Belle asked Steve to look after Claire instead of you?
Philip: No. No, but I do think Claire would have been more comfortable with me.
Chloe: Since she used to think you were her father. [Cellphone rings]
Philip: Excuse me. Hello.
Lexie: Philip, hi. It's Lexie Carver.
Philip: Hey, Lexie, what's going on?
Lexie: Well, I've been trying to reach Kayla, and then I tried Bo, but they're not answering their phones.
Philip: Yeah, I think their phones are probably all turned off.
Lexie: Is something wrong?
Philip: Well, there's a family situation they're dealing with. Shawn's sister, Colleen, is -- is dying.
Lexie: Colleen Brady, the one who wrote all those letters?
Lexie: But I thought she committed suicide when Shawn was a little boy.
Philip: She just made it look that way. No, she's alive, and she's actually the one behind Claire's kidnapping.
Lexie: What?! She's the one? Why?
Philip: To keep her safe from Stefano. It's all pretty complicated, but it appears as if she's been sick for a while, and she's called all her family to be here with her.
Lexie: Look, um, the reason I'm calling is important.
Philip: Okay. I could go up and get someone. Could you tell me what this is about?
Shawn: This can't be goodbye, Leeny. God wouldn't be this cruel.
Colleen: Oh, God isn't cruel, Shawny. But sometimes fate can be.
John: What the hell is the difference?
Colleen: God is someone you trust.
John: And fate?
Colleen: Some claim that it's all predestined. I prefer to think it's getting what you earned. "Ye shall sow what ye have reaped."
John: Well, then you're pretty much damned for being a liar and betraying your sacred vows to God, aren't you?
Bo: Pop, Pop, take it easy.
Shawn: You shut your mouth! You hear me?! I don't care who you are! You don't talk to Colleen like that!
Bo: John, you're out of line, man.
John: Am I? Just trying to understand. This woman lied to the man that she loved. She faked her death and punished him for, what, loving her?
Colleen: He never told me he was married.
John: You were gonna be a nun. Weren't you about to marry God when you slept with this man and conceived your bastard son, who would be me, by the way?
Shawn: I told you to shut up!
Colleen: It's all right, Shawny. He has every right to be angry with me for what I have done and to hate me for it.
John: I don't care enough about you to hate you.
Colleen: Oh, it's a pity. Hate me would mean at least you're capable of feeling something.
John: Well, the only thing I feel is disappointment that I didn't kill you when I had the chance.
Shawn: Damn it! That's enough!
Hope: John, stop it. Can't you see how much you're upsetting him? My God, how could you be so cruel?
John: You're wrong. She's the one who's cruel, deceitful, manipulative. What? Suddenly she's some kind of a saint, just because she's dying?
Marlena: No. Not because she's dying. She feels bad about the people she's hurt, and she wants forgiveness.
John: And what exactly has she done to earn it? I mean, outside of finally telling the truth.
Colleen: Of course it's your decision to forgive me or not. But if you have any doubts, I loved Santo very much. I like to think I loved him enough to let him go.
Marlena: I know that kind of love.
Colleen: And do you know that kind of love?
John: I've heard people talk about it. I don't remember it, though.
Colleen: Marlena does. And having known that kind of love and now being without it, it's as painful for her as it was for me having to leave me beloved Santo.
John: Don't you ever compare me to that son of a bitch.
Colleen: Oh, no, John. No, I would never do that. You're nothing like him. And I pray with all me heart that some day you might be.
Lexie: I'm sorry, Philip. This is personal.
Philip: Okay. I'll have them call you when they can.
Lexie: Well, actually, I need to speak to Kayla.
Philip: Don't worry, Lexie. I'll tell her.
Lexie: Thanks. She can reach me on my cell. She has the number.
Philip: Okay. Take care.
Chloe: What was that about?
Philip: I don't know. But Lexie sounded a little tense.
Chloe: Well, you did drop a pretty big bomb on her, telling her about Colleen.
Philip: Yeah, I guess. I tend to forget Lexie is a DiMera. And Santo was her grandfather.
Chloe: That makes her John's niece.
Philip: Yeah. It's probably a good thing I didn't tell her that. Better it come from John.
Marlena: Why would you want John to be like Santo?
Colleen: Because when I look at John, I only see a man consumed by bitterness and hate.
Belle: Well, wait. Stefano did that to him. My father, the man that I know and love is wonderful. He's loving. He's thoughtful.
John: Polite, courteous, friendly, reverent, trustworthy. Real boy scout.
Shawn: The woman's dying. If you're going to make a mockery of her last moments on this earth, then leave!
Colleen: Shawny, he needs to hear this. Your father loved me with all his heart. I couldn't let him leave his wife.
John: So he just cheated on her instead? I'm sure that locked him down a solid spot in heaven.
Colleen: Enough. You will listen to me, John, and keep your smart mouth shut. Your father was as tormented by his love for me as I was by my love for him.
John: And you think you did him a favor by faking your death? In reality, you caused it.
Kayla: Why would you think that?
John: Oh, just a little something Stefano told me. He blamed you for his father's broken heart, so he spent his entire life punishing the Bradyís for your crime. Apparently, after your... death...Santo became this broken shell of a man who taught his son about bitterness and resentment.
Colleen: No. Santo wasn't like that. [Sighs] I feel sorry for Stefano. Had he loved like Santo loved, his whole life would have been different.
Marlena: He thought he had loved. But his kind of love was about dominance.
Colleen: Then he was truly not his father's son. But I think John could be. I think his kindness is somewhere deep inside John.
Marlena: I know it is.
John: Well, both you women are wrong. I'm not that man. Furthermore, I'm not sure I would ever want to be.
Shawn: Do you have to be so cruel, huh?!
Colleen: I'm afraid he does, Shawny, because he's terrified.
John: [Laughs] Of what?
Colleen: That who you are now is what you're gonna be forever. And, trust me, if I were you, that would scare the living hell out of me.
Lexie: Are you sure those test results are accurate? [Sighs] I'd like to run more tests. No, I already told you. I can't get another blood sample. The patient's out of the country. Yes. I do realize this could be fatal. I am trying to get the patient back here for treatment as soon as possible. Yes. I will consult with you then. Thanks. Bye.
Philip: You know something? It's a strange feeling waiting for someone to die.
Chloe: I'm just glad Colleen has her family with her.
Philip: Yeah, there's nothing worse than dying alone. I saw it on the battlefield, the fear... of going into the unknown alone.
Chloe: Is that how you felt when you were shot?
Philip: I did. I really thought I was dying. And there was no comfort, no resignation or acceptance, only panic... pain and fear.
Chloe: Maybe that's because you weren't really dying. Maybe when it is your time, you somehow know it, and you're ready to accept it.
Philip: I'd like to think that's true, Chloe. And I really hope that woman is finally on her way to finding some peace.
John: Dying isn't frightening enough for you?
Colleen: Surprising as it is, it doesn't frighten me at all.
John: Eh. It's probably all the pain meds you've been taking.
Shawn: That is enough!
Bo: Time for you to leave.
Colleen: I decide who goes and stays. Me son stays. Belle, Belle, come here, and bring your handsome husband with you. Belle, more than anyone here... you and Shawn and your precious Claire are the future of me family. Never forget who you are and where you come from. I love youís both. Goodbye. [Groaning]
Colleen: It's all right. I promise you it's all right. I love you.
Belle: I love you, too.
Shawn D.: We won't let you down.
Colleen: Oh, I know you wonít. I know. You know, Bo, even though you don't have the Brady blood flowing in your veins, you got the Brady spirit. I heard that you were quite a rebel and, occasionally, a pain in the arse.
Shawn: More than occasionally.
Colleen: As were you, Shawny, when you were a wee one. Not such a bad thing, you know. Oh, hope. Dear Hope. Stand by your man.
Hope: I've always tried to.
Colleen: That's a lucky man, he is, to have you. I'll tell you that.
Bo: That I am.
Colleen: I know you're gonna have a long and happy life together. Take care of me brother. I know he's suffering a lot more than I am.
Shawn: [Voice breaking] I don't -- I don't want to lose you again.
Colleen: Oh, you never will. Kayla, Kayla, you're a doctor.
Kayla: I wish there were something I could do to help.
Colleen: Oh, I know you do 'cause you're a healer. It's God's given gift. Marlena, come -- come closer. Come closer. [Sighs] I know you're the tower of strength in this family, and it pleases me to know that everyone will be in your capable hands. And I know you'll do everything you can to keep this family together.
Marlena: I will. Thank you.
Kayla: Is there anything we can get you, anything you want or need to make this easier?
Colleen: No. It's one of the great joys of me life just to have you all here, especially at the end.
[Inhales deeply] If you don't mind, I-I'd like some time alone with me brother and me son.
Kayla: Of course.
Hope: We'll never forget you, not ever.
Bo: I've always thought of myself as a Brady, and I always will.
Colleen: [Laughing] Oh, that's good.
Shawn D.: I'll never let Claire forget you.
Colleen: I'll be looking after her from heaven. [Sighs] Come. Sit with me, Shawny.
Belle: Dad... your mother gave this to me, but I really think you should have it. Give it to Sami. It will mean a lot to her.
John: You're a doctor. How much more time has she got?
Philip: Okay. Okay, Steve. I'll talk to you later.
Chloe: You didn't tell him that Lexie called.
Philip: Lexie really called for Kayla. If it was about the hospital, Steve wouldn't be able to help her anyway.
Chloe: I thought she said it was personal.
Philip: Lexie would have tried Steve if she wanted to.
Chloe: Okay. You don't have to snap at me.
Philip: I'm sorry. I'm just a little edgy wondering what's going on up there. You know, I'm glad we're here, Chloe. The Bradyís are gonna need our support more than ever.
Belle: Colleen really is an amazing woman.
Hope: I thought I knew her... from reading her letters. She was so much more than the lovesick, confused girl who wrote them.
Bo: That's true.
Kayla: I wish Stephanie could have met her.
Hope: Stephanie? Sami. Sami should be here. Now, wouldn't that have been wonderful?
Shawn D.: Maybe we should all go downstairs.
Bo: No. Um, I want to be here, just in case pop needs me.
Shawn D.: We'll stay with you then.
Kayla: I'm worried about him, Bo. It's so hard on him, seeing his sister die like this.
Bo: Yeah, it's not gonna be easy, but it's important that he be here for her in the end. And it's important that we be here for him... when she's dead and gone. Shawny. Oh, Shawny. Oh, Shawny.
Shawn: I did this to you, Leeny. I did it when I told our father Santo was still married. If I hadn't, I --
Colleen: Oh, it would have come out eventually, Shawny. The truth always does.
Shawn: I don't know how you can find it in your heart to forgive me.
Colleen: Oh, I'm the one that needs forgiveness. You did it because you loved me, and you wanted to protect me.
Shawn: Don't leave me, Leeny. We haven't enough time together.
Colleen: Don't talk about time apart. Think of our childhood. It was so easy and simple.
Shawn: I do remember.
Colleen: That's how I want you to remember me.
Shawn: I don't want you to go.
Colleen: I love you, Shawny. I love you. I love you.
Shawn: Oh, I love you, Leeny. We'll be together again.
Colleen: Oh, yes, we will. I love you. You -- you won't deny me, me last dying wish. Oh, oh, let me hold you, son. The very first and last time since you were a wee child, let me hold you in me arms. Please. Oh. Oh. [Sighs]
Philip: It is so strange that we haven't heard anything from anyone regarding Brady. You said he was kidnapped. So it's not like he just disappeared. Someone took him. And people don't do that without a damn good reason. Usually it's money, but we haven't heard anything regarding ransom. And as far as we know, Brady didn't have any enemies, did he?
Chloe: No. What are you getting at, Philip?
Philip: I'm just trying to add things up. And they donít. Nothing about this makes sense.
Chloe: So, you don't think it was Stefano.
Philip: No. But it was obviously someone very powerful. It's not easy to make a person disappear without a trace.
Chloe: Who would want to do that to Brady?
Philip: You tell me. Whoever it was had something to gain from his disappearance. We just have to figure out who and what it was they had to gain.
Marlena: I'm glad you're all still here. I think you should come back inside. It won't be long now.
Colleen: I love you, John. There's never been a mother put on this earth that loved their son more than I love you. [Sighs] Oh, please, John. Do as your mother asks. Hold me -- hold me in your arms one last time. Please, John. Hold me. Hold me in your arms one last time. I... I-I have to rest now. I have to rest now, John. I have to rest now.
Shawn: I can't believe she's -- she's really gone.
Bo: Here. Sit down.
Shawn: Our whole lives apart. It was all so unnecessary.
Hope: I'm so sorry, Shawn. I'm so sorry.
Bo: Good thing is that you were here with her at the end.
Belle: Steve and Claire are still out?
Philip: Yeah, I just talked to him. She's fine. He was treating her to some ice cream.
Belle: Okay, well, at least she won't know about Colleen's death.
Chloe: Must have been so hard for all of you. Your grandfather looks devastated.
Shawn D.: He is. It wasn't easy. But one thing's for sure -- I'm never gonna forget about her.
Belle: Neither will I.
Philip: I have to give a message to Kayla.
Belle: I'm gonna go make us some tea. I think we could all use it.
Shawn D.: Yeah.
Chloe: No, let me. You two should be together right now.
Belle: Chloe's right, you know. We do need each other right now. I don't know if we're back together or what. Are we?
Philip: I'm sorry for your loss.
Philip: If there's anything I can do here or back in Salem, please let me know.
Bo: We will.
Hope: Thank you. I think right now, we just -- we all need some time to process everything that's happened.
Shawn: [Crying] My sister's dead. [Sobbing] I've lost her for the second time.
Hope: It's gonna be okay, Shawn.
Philip: Kayla. Lexie called for you.
Bo: Hey, Kay. Did she say what it was about?
Philip: No, no, only that it was personal, but it sounded like it was important.
Kayla: Well, as soon as I get pop settled, um, I'll call her. Thank you.
Marlena: John. What are you feeling?
John: Now, that's a question only a shrink could ask. My mother's dead. What do you think I should be feeling?
Marlena: Sadness? Grief? Anger? Love?
John: Actually, none of the above.
Marlena: You're feeling something, though.
John: Yes. Something. I feel... like calling that jet and getting the hell out of here.
Marlena: All right. If that's what you want.
John: That's what I want.
Marlena: What is it? What's happening?
Marlena: That's not true. Something's happening. I can see it in your eyes. Are you remembering?
Shawn D.: Do you want us to be together, Belle? Do you really think that we can make it work?
Belle: [Chuckles] I'd like to think that this whole experience could be a new beginning for us, for our family and for our marriage. Do you think it could be?
Shawn D.: I'm not...angry anymore at what you've done. Philip and I have... made our peace. Can I just forget everything that's happened? I'd like to try, but I don't know.
Belle: Well, that's all I can ask.
[Cellphone ringing] [Cellphone ringing]
Lexie: Kayla, hi. I'm so glad you got back to me.
Kayla: Yeah, I'm sorry. Things have been difficult here.
Lexie: Yeah, yeah. Philip told me a little bit about what's going on. Colleen Brady's alive?
Kayla: Yeah, but she's passed away now. At least her family was all around her when she died.
Lexie: I am so sorry.
Kayla: Yeah, it was really a shock to all of us. It hit my father particularly hard.
Lexie: Yeah. Uh, well, I'm afraid I have some more bad news. I, uh, reviewed the results of the blood work we had done. It could be worse than we expected.
Kayla: I was afraid of that.
Lexie: We need to run some more tests A.S.A.P.
Kayla: Well, we'll get back home as soon as we can.
Lexie: Have you spoken to Bo and Hope?
Kayla: Well, Bo knows everything, but we haven't had a chance to tell Hope yet.
Lexie: She has to know, Kayla. She needs to prepare herself. They need to deal with this together.
Kayla: I know. I just need to take care of my pop, and we have to deal with Colleen's death.
Lexie: Yeah. I understand.
Lexie: Um... this may not be the best time to tell you, but, um, I have a feeling with all the bad news you're dealing with, you might want to hear some good news.
Kayla: Yes, I would love it. What? What is it?
Lexie: Well, remember you had, um, all that blood work done to check your hormone levels before you left?
Kayla: Yes. Is everything all right?
Lexie: Actually, it's better than that. You're pregnant.
Marlena: John, are you remembering something?
John: No. I said "no." Let's go. Goodbye, Mom.
Hope: You and Steve and Bo are keeping something from me. Tell me what it is.
Bo: I keep thinking about Hope, what she's gonna go through.
Steve: Maybe you should tell her.
