Kayla: Oh.

Steve: Come on, sweetness. Roman's a tough dude. He's gonna be okay.

Kayla: He looks so weak just lying there like that.

Steve: I know. What's the doctor say?

Kayla: They feel that he should be responsive already.

Steve: So maybe you just need to have a little patience and he'll come around.

Kayla: [Chuckles] Are you -- are you actually telling me to be patient?

Steve: Yeah. Is that a problem?

Kayla: From the man who pulled a background check on his own daughter's boyfriend.

Steve: I know, but that was necessary.

Kayla: Well, you know what? Stephanie would have found out about Jeremy on her own eventually.

Steve: Yeah, eventually can be a long time.

Kayla: Hey, baby. What's all that?

Steve: Where you been?

Stephanie: Aunt Hope said that you guys would be here. How's Uncle Roman?

Kayla: No change.

Steve: Are you taking a trip or something? What are you doing?

Stephanie: No, Papa. Um...I'm moving out.

[Camera shutter clicks]

Stefano: They have not found the key?

Dr. Rolf: No. Maybe it's not here.

Stefano: Well, did you check?

Dr. Rolf: What, Bart? Of course. It's not on him.

Stefano: Well, then, where can it be?

Dr. Rolf: Are you sure that André didn't take it?

Stefano: He swears he did not. Excuse me, Miss.

Kate: I have clearance. Stefano...what happened?

Stefano: Oh. Well, my poor Bart met an untimely death. Forgive me for not getting up.

Dr. Rolf: Look, I should prepare your medications.

Stefano: Thank you, Rolf.

Kate: Well, I've heard that you've been ill, so how are you feeling?

Stefano: I -- I have my days. This certainly is not one of them. He was A...faithful and dear friend. So...what brings you here?

Kate: Well, I heard that you were ill, as I said, and I wanted to see how you were doing.

Stefano: [Chuckles] Oh, dear Kate, we don't need any empty pleasantries between us, now do we?

Kate: We know each other... very well, don't we?

Stefano: Perhaps too well.

Kate: I need your help. There's no one else I can go to.

Santo: Colleen, I release you. Return to the covenant, your life among the good sisters if that is what you really want.

Colleen: Your face, you're bleeding.

Santo: It's nothing. It's a scratch.

Colleen: Let me take a look.

Santo: Walk away, Colleen. If you are going to go, go now.

Colleen: Just let me have a look at your wound. It's just Christian to tend to a wound of a man I almost killed.

Santo: I will see to the wound myself.

Colleen: But you know I have training as a nurse. As a Christian mercy to look at your wound, let --

Santo: Colleen, no. If you are going to walk away, walk away now, because any kindness you show me is going to get you into trouble. You understand that?

Colleen: It wouldn't be the first time... nor, I fear, the last.

Hope: Imagine how different things would have been if Santo hadn't caught that ledge.

Bo: We should have been so lucky.

Sami: Well, even if he had fallen into the ocean, he would have survived. Some fisherman would have saved him.

Julie: Well, honey, why do you say that?

Sami: 'Cause they were fated to be together. And if there's one thing you can't escape, it's your fate.

Steve: Listen, I'm the one who went after Jeremy. Your mom didn't do anything. Don't punish her.

Stephanie: This isn't about punishing anybody.

Steve: No?

Kayla: Stephanie, you do not need to move out.

Steve: Come on. She's made her choice -- the ex-con over us.

Kayla: It doesn't need to be that way.

Stephanie: Well, it is that way.

Steve: See?

Kayla: Stop it. Now, listen to me, we are a family, the three of us.

Stephanie: That's a joke. When have we ever been a family, okay? The three of us don't cut it. It always ends up with one of us storming out.

Steve: She's right about that.

Stephanie: You want to know the truth?

Steve: Sure, why not?

Stephanie: I liked you a whole lot better when you were just a made-up bedtime story.

Stefano: Ah, it's like old times, Kate, huh? You in need of my help.

Kate: Actually...I'm kind of thinking the timing is bad. You have a dear friend dead. I'm sorry about that. Maybe I should come back.

Stefano: No, no, no. Wait, wait, stay, please. Stay. Look, I tell you -- I tell you what, if you don't mind, why don't you make us a drink?

Kate: Okay.

Stefano: I understand that Mythic has hit hard times.

Kate: Actually, that is an understatement.

Stefano: [Chuckles] The FCC can be a formidable foe.

Kate: Well, we've both had formidable foes, haven't we?

Stefano: Well, the cut is even deeper when your children are the ones that betray you.

Kate: I spoke to E.J. earlier.

Stefano: I don't know anyone by that name.

Kate: Really? He was drowning himself in a bottle of expensive scotch and crying like a baby over Sami.

Stefano: Well, he was our Achilles' Heel, I'm afraid.

Kate: He told me that you had it out.

Stefano: Elvis is not the man I thought he was.

Kate: Did you tell him that? Because I certainly did.

Stefano: And your relationship with your son, I understand that it was Lucas that turned you in.

Kate: Yes, he did.

Stefano: So we both have sons who are bitter disappointments. What is it that you need, my dear Kate?

Kate: I need enough money to cover the company until I regroup, and I promise to pay you back every cent with interest.

Stefano: [Chuckles] A payment to a dying man is no concern.

Kate: You're not dying.

Stefano: My doctor disagrees.

Kate: Well, you look very strong to me.

Stefano: [Chuckles] My last deception, perhaps. Why did you choose me, hmm, and not some of your other friends? John, for instance, huh? Or your other son, Philip? He would not want to disappoint his mother, huh?

Kate: Because I don't want my children bailing me out.

Stefano: Ah, and since I have lifted you out of the lower depths before...

Kate: Stefano, believe me, I remember.

Stefano: Kate, I have sheltered you and your son for years.

Kate: I haven't forgotten.

Stefano: Well, then, let me ask you something. I've been here in Salem for weeks, sick, unable to recall anything but old memories, and not once have you paid me a visit.

Kate: Because you were too ill for visitors.

Stefano: Oh? Did not stop you today.

Kate: I think I should go.

Stefano: Is that it? Without a dime? Is that the idea? Aren't you worth even that anymore?

Colleen: It's the sun that burns.

Santo: You did not have to hike all the way down to the water's edge.

Colleen: I could do it blindfolded.

Santo: It's lucky for you I caught the ledge.

Colleen: Luckier for you.

Santo: Maybe luck is not just reserved for the Irish.

Colleen: Oh, now you're talking nonsense. Of course it is.

Santo: [Laughs]

Colleen: This is dry.

Santo: What are you doing? [Laughs]

Colleen: Well, the fine gentleman's afraid of a little Irish dirt, is he?

Santo: It's a local remedy?

Colleen: And a fine one it is. [Laughs]

Santo: You are trying to poison me.

Colleen: If I wanted to poison you or kill you, I would have left you on that ledge and gone back to my simple, quiet life.

Santo: Are you sure it won't poison my blood?

Colleen: Don't be daft. Me brother is mended from many a scrape this way.

Santo: Then he is lucky to be alive.

Colleen: If you insist, I will go and fetch you a proper nurse.

Santo: No, no, no, please. I like the nurse I have now... very much. She has brought me back from the brink of death once before.

Colleen: [Sighs]

Santo: There is only one thing that will cure my pain, Colleen. [Santo speaks Italian]

Sami: I have to say, I think I know exactly how Colleen was feeling.

Lucas: You do, huh?

Sami: Yeah, she had to keep her options open.

Bo: Well, it seemed to me she was committed to being a nun.

Sami: But she still had choices. But she couldn't wait forever to make her choice. And then fate caught up with her. You know what sealed her fate? Lust. Something I know a little bit about. Anyway, I'm just saying that I think Colleen was done in by her lust.

Stefano: Kate, please, don't rush off, all right? I-I'm -- I'm sorry. It's Bart's death, and I'm just not myself.

Kate: Are you sure?

Stefano: I apologize for my anger, all right? I -- it's been a very, very difficult day.

Kate: And then I come marching in asking you for money, right? [Sighs] I'm nothing, if not predictable.

Stefano: And I am nothing, if not alone.

Kate: Maybe we could help each other feel not so alone.

Stefano: I would like that.

Kate: I won't stay away. I promise to come back and visit soon. Goodbye. That doesn't seem like the kiss of a dying man.

Stefano: I was hoping you'd notice.

Doug: "I would gladly fall to a thousand deaths to feel your lips on mine. Your face lit by the fire was more beautiful than any painting even Raphael could have created. From that kiss came the promise of a new life, Colleen, with you by my side."

Hope: Wow.

Bo: Yeah. Must have been some kiss.

Colleen: No. No. Santo, no.

Santo: Stay, Colleen.

Colleen: Please, we must stop.

Santo: What is wrong?

Colleen: No. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Santo.

Santo: Why do you want to stop, Colleen? To stop now would be to stop living.

Colleen: I am from a small country village. You are a man of the world.

Santo: Yes. I have traveled. But if I had met others who move me the way you do, would I be here? No, I would not. I would be off chasing them. Why? Because it would be a lot easier than every day trying so hard to persuade you to take a couple of small steps outside of the church. Colleen, if I thought for a moment that I could be satisfied with another woman, do you think I would put myself and you through all this? Do you really think that? Colleen, I only want one thing from you.

Colleen: And don't I know what that is.

Santo: I want you to be free. I want you to be free from your doubt. I want you to be a woman, Colleen. I want you to be my woman.

Steve: Stephanie, listen --

Kayla: Wait one second. This is a very big decision. You need to slow this down.

Stephanie: The decision's already made.

Kayla: No, no, listen, you have school. You have expenses. Apartments are very expensive, and that airline job is not steady.

Stephanie: I've got it covered, okay? I'm not paying for rent, and I'm not giving up school.

Steve: So you are moving in with Jeremy?

Adrienne: Uh, no, actually, she's moving in with me.

Colleen: [Laughs] Your woman?

Santo: Oh, now I amuse you, huh? [Both laugh] You know, I was hoping for --

Colleen: I know -- I know what you were hoping for. [Laughs] I'm sorry. I shouldn't laugh.

Santo: God knows, Colleen, sometimes I --

Colleen: Don't you be taking the Lord's name in vain now. You sound like an actor. You know, that's what you could be. You could be, like, an actor up on a stage.

Santo: An actor?

Colleen: Yeah. You should find your way to Dublin. And there are teachers there that would be glad to have you with your fancy language.

Santo: My fancy language, huh?

Colleen: Yeah, you could be in O'Casey's "Juno and the Paycock." Well, for that, you could be the paycock.

Santo: I could be the paycock?

Colleen: And don't you know it, too. You were asking me to be merely a woman. And now I'm asking you to be rid of that paycock I've been seeing. I'm asking you to...be just a man. My man.

Kate: How's your blood pressure?

Stefano: Rising...fast.

Kate: Maybe we should stop.

Stefano: Why?

Kate: Our audience.

Stefano: I don't see anyone but you.

Kate: You haven't lost your charm, have you?

Stefano: My God...I love the scent of a beautiful woman. [Sighs] And...fond memories.

Kate: What are you doing?

Stefano: Well, I am sorry for my outburst, all right? So I don't want our last conversation to end in anger.

Kate: It's not going to be our last conversation.

Stefano: Well, we don't know that. I want to be remembered as a kind and generous friend.

Kate: Stefano, I can't take this.

Stefano: I insist.

Kate: I don't know when I can pay this back.

Stefano: Why don't we just keep it as an open account, and then if I do go to my just rewards, well...it will be forgiven?

Kate: Thank you, my old friend. You knew why I came, didn't you?

Stefano: Well [Chuckles] Look at you. Perfect outfit. You were prepared to come here and do what you do best, and... I was prepared to allow you. We are what we are, Kate.

Kate: No excuses.

Stefano: Or false pretenses. Mnh-mnh. No, a man still wants to feel strong, especially on a day like this.

Kate: Officer, Mr. DiMera isn't feeling well. Would it be all right if I took him upstairs?

Officer: Sure.

Kate: Are you absolutely positively sure that this is all right?

Stefano: Well...I cannot think of a better way to go.

Santo: Colleen, I'm sorry if you think I'm being -- what is the word... pretentious.

Colleen: There you go again.

Santo: Colleen, I don't know –

Colleen: Pretentious.

Santo: I am sorry. English is not my first language.

Colleen: Then speak to me in your first language.

Santo: Colleen, I know you understand little Italian.

Colleen: Don't worry that I won't understand. It doesn't matter what words you use. It's your eyes that will be speaking to me.

Santo: Bella... [Speaking Italian] Ti amo.

Julie: "The beautiful flow of those words -- simple, sincere, and the tender ti amo."

Marlena: Ti amo.

Lucas: He just dropped the "L" word, right?

Sami: [Laughs]

Julie: And in Italian, the language of love.

Doug: Would you like to hear my Italian?

Julie: [Speaking Italian] [Laughter]

Bo: Freeze! Not another step.

Tony: Wait a minute. It's Tony.

John: Or André.

Tony: It's Tony. I just came from the mansion, looking for that key. I actually had my hand on it.

Bo: Uh-huh, so where is it?

Tony: Well, come with me and I want to explain to you.

Bo: Explain like you did Roman, huh? You better start talking to me before I put a bullet in your head.

Tony: Hey, it's enough already. It's Tony.

Bo: Well, convince me before I pull this trigger.

Adrienne: I'm sorry. I just thought this would be a good solution.

Steve: You should have called me, Adrienne.

Stephanie: See what he's like?

Adrienne: Well, he's right. I should have called him. I was just under the assumption that Stephanie could make her own decisions about where she wanted to live.

Stephanie: And don't expect her to clock my movements and report back to you.

Adrienne: Wait a minute. I'm staying out of this.

Steve: You took her in. How's that staying out of it?

Stephanie: It's not you, aunt Adrienne. It's about Jeremy. It's always about Jeremy, right?

Steve: And you need to wake up and see him for what he is.

Stephanie: Who he is, Papa, is the guy that I'm gonna marry with or without your blessing.

Tony: Look, I have proof that I'm Tony.

John: He's clean.

Bo: Well, let's hear this proof of yours.

John: Let me. I'm gonna ask you a question about your island girls, Lulu and Lily.

Tony: [Laughs] You mean Lele and Lola?

Marlena: That's Tony. That's him.

John: That's a fact.

Bo: I'm -- I apologize, Tony. I'm sorry. I'm gonna have to remake André's face so I can tell you guys apart.

Tony: Yeah. How's Roman?

Marlena: He's still in the coma.

Tony: I'm sorry.

Doug: The key, Tony. Tell us about the key.

Tony: Ah, yes. Well, actually, I had my hands on it. Stefano grabbed it from me, threw it over to Bart, and then André walked into the room.

Bo: You had your hands full.

Tony: Yeah, but André, he came at me with a sword and the only person who...well, was affected was Bart. He was permanently skewered, shall I say.

John: By you?

Tony: No, André.

Hope: And the key?

Tony: Ah, the key. Well, that went down with the ship. Bart swallowed it before he died.

Sami: Gross.

Bo: Yeah, well, we're gonna have to get it.

Lucas: The guy is dead, Bo.

Hope: So cut him open.

John: Yeah, what she said. Got to cut him open.

Tony: Okay, I'm going.

Bo: Hey, hold on. Why don't you follow us in your car, but stay there until one of us says it's okay, all right? Thanks.

John: Bo, you coming?

Bo: Yeah, just a second. You let me know what happens, okay?

Hope: Okay, and if you, you know, when you find it...let us know.

Sami: How about we all just finish reading the letter?

Hope: Marlena -- Marlena, we're gonna finish reading the letter.

Julie: "I meant to insult you, comparing you to a paycock, to see if I could make you angry, to finally drive you away, to protect my future as a nun. But that future was not to be so easily secured."

Santo: Would you like me to say it again in English?

Colleen: No. No, it was beautiful. My dear Gran always used to say, "be careful what your heart desires."

Santo: And what is it that your heart desires, Colleen?

Colleen: Many things.

Santo: Love.

Colleen: I didn't s that.

Santo: Colleen, you did not have to say it because I feel it. You know, I feel it like I feel the breeze around.

Colleen: No, please. Is that the truth, then?

Santo: Yes, it is the truth. And I have -- I have the ability to say it for both of us.

Colleen: I don't want you speaking for me.

Santo: Because you are affright.

Colleen: I am not.

Santo: Then why are your hands shaking, Colleen?

Dr. Rolf: So, what was the cause of death?

Doctor: The blade severed his descending aorta. He bled to death.

Dr. Rolf: Poor Bart. And what are you doing here?

John: We had heard that Bart had an unfortunate accident.

Dr. Rolf: No, Tony instigated the entire incident. He killed Bart.

John: Well, we heard differently. Greg, I need a favor. Got to cut that body open.

Dr. Rolf: What, are you crazy?

John: He swallowed some key evidence in an investigation. Operative word is on "key."

Dr. Rolf: I suggest you go to the court and obtain an order to do something so contemptible.

John: You want me to run you in for obstruction? Bo's outside in the car. He's calling a judge to get authorization. Do it in the ambulance?

Dr. Rolf: I don't see why not.

John: All right, let's go, guys. Greg, do you think maybe about 15 minutes to root through his body to find that key?

Greg: We'll see.

John: [Sighs] You -- disappear. Go on.

Stefano: [Laughs]

Kate: [Laughs]

Stefano: Well, that was true. It's true. Absolutely.

John: [Laughs] This just keeps getting better.

Kate: What are you doing here?

Santo: Colleen, stop. What is wrong?

Colleen: I'm fine. It's nothing.

Santo: Nothing? You are frightened.

Colleen: This is not how a good and proper daughter and novice behaves.

Santo: No. It is how a woman behave, Colleen.

Colleen: And who is this woman? Everything I've ever wanted since I received my first Holy Communion at St. Malachy's, I could -- I could feel it slipping away from me.

Santo: Okay, and what is coming into its place?

Colleen: Doubt.

Santo: Doubt, no. Doubt is the expectations of others. Forget about the -- you are trying to be Colleen the daughter, Colleen the sister, Colleen the novice.

Colleen: I am all of those things. And now you're asking me to be someone else, to break my vows. And where -- where will that lead us?

Santo: Colleen, it will lead us closer to each other.

Colleen: Santo, you have a son and a business that takes you far away from this night, from Galway, from my world.

Santo: Colleen, you can come into my world.

Colleen: Do you really think so? Me, a simple girl from a small country village? Santo, the only thing binding us is sin.

Santo: No, Colleen, love is not a sin.

Colleen: Apart -- apart our lives are rich and filled with God's blessings. But here, alone like this, we are asking for nothing but heartache and eternal damnation.

Santo: Eternal damnation? Colleen...if I have to suffer eternal damnation to be with you, then let me be damned, because the lord that I know, I believe, would not condemn two people just because I love you. And I cannot stop loving you. Colleen, I give you my soul. Take it. Do what you want with it.

Stefano: Get out of here. You should not be here.

John: You don't give orders anymore, Pops. Someone got killed here tonight. Makes this place a crime scene.

Stefano: My dear friend is dead. And you insult me with your presence?

Kate: I think I should go.

John: That's a good idea.

Stefano: Ciao, Katerina.

John: I'll be right back. [Indistinct radio chatter]

John: Kate, what are you doing? What, have you totally lost your mind?

Kate: That's really none of your business, is it? But just in case you're interested, there's a lot more life left in Stefano DiMera than he lets on. See you later, old friend.

Steve: You're gonna marry Mr. Steal money from sick kids? You're not serious.

Kayla: Jeremy proposed?

Stephanie: Not formally, but I know he plans to, and I plan to say yes.

Adrienne: You know he plans to?

Stephanie: Yeah, we talked about it.

Steve: Talk is cheap.

Stephanie: Thanks a lot, Papa. I mean, you really made my day.

Steve: Stephanie, wait a minute. Wait, wait, wait.

Kayla: Let her go.

Adrienne: Guys, I am so sorry. I just really thought if it was a choice between Jeremy and me, you'd be happier with me.

Kayla: Well, hey, I guess you have a point there.

Steve: No contest.

Adrienne: Why don't I go chase her down, make sure she's all right?

Kayla: Thank you.

Steve: Hey, will you keep an eye on my baby girl?

Adrienne: I'll keep two.

Steve: I'm a rotten father.

Kayla: You are not a rotten father. A little overprotective maybe, but not rotten.

Steve: I blew it, sweetness. I just pushed Stephanie so far away from us, she might never come back.

Stefano: Look, I've told you.

John: Right, you don't know who killed Bart. Right.

Stefano: Bart and Tony had an argument.

John: What about André?

Stefano: André?

John: Tony said André's the one who did Bart in. Tony said he came here to get a key, and he and André fought.

Stefano: Listen, Tony attacked me with a hypodermic needle, so I have no idea what went on. But if I do see André, I will make sure to tell him that you are asking for him.

John: Bart sure had an interesting diet, didn't he?

Stefano: You have no respect for the dead.

John: I'm sorry. I liked him. He was funny. He made me laugh. So, what else do you think this key opened besides Bart's chest?

Stefano: Let the man rest in peace.

John: Why do you think he swallowed it, Stefano?

Tony: He swallowed it to keep it away from me.

Stefano: You mock my grief?

Tony: You could end the grief, Stefano, for both families. Whatever dalliance occurred between your father and Colleen Brady, it's ancient history. It's over.

Stefano: It will never be over!

John: Don't count on that. We're gonna find out what this key opens, and more than likely it's gonna end this feud. Then we're gonna use this key to lock you up, Stefano. You're just like your skirt-chasing daddy. You will lose. [Flashback]

Colleen: Then I will pray for you and for your soul, Mr. DiMera.

Santo: We are back to Mr. DiMera.

Colleen: It is your name.

Santo: And yours is... Miss Brady.

Colleen: So, it's decided then. We'll be formal friends from now on.

Santo: Why are you so frightened, Colleen?

Colleen: Let me go, Mr. DiMera. Please.

Santo: I will, but first you must call me Santo.

Colleen: I will do no such thing.

Santo: Well, you must.

Colleen: Santo.

Santo: Thank you. So, tell me something. Are we going to go dancing at the pub in Dublin? All the villagers, they dance there.

Shawn: Leeny! Leeny! Father Mallory needs you.

Colleen: I must go.

Santo: [Speaks Italian]

Colleen: The good father is waiting. Come along, Shawn.

Santo: Colleen. Will you come?

Colleen: We'll just have to wait and see, won't we, Mr. DiMera?

Hope: That's it? Nothing else?

Julie: The last of this batch.

Lucas: Well, we all know what happens next, right?

Doug: She headed for the inn.

Hope: Got to be.

Sami: And that's why she died.

Marlena: We don't know why she died.

Sami: Well, we do. She died for love. She was fated to die for love.

Lucas: Well, if Colleen and Santo were fated to be together, let me ask you this -- why aren't you and E.J. fated to be together, huh? You look like her. He looks like him. You said you had a thing for him when he came into town.

Sami: I don't think that's a funny joke.

Lucas: Well, maybe it's fate coming full circle. You know he wants you.

Sami: Yeah, well, I don't want him, right? So just because I look like her doesn't mean I'm fated to live the life Colleen did. You're my fate.

Lucas: Maybe you're just tempting fate.

Sami: Stop it, okay?

Lucas: No, really. I'm just kind of a bump in the road till you and E.J. figure it out and hook up, right?

Sami: Stop it! This isn't funny to me, okay? E.J.'s done too much to hurt us and our whole family. I don't think it's funny.

Lucas: And I am just kidding. I'm teasing you, okay? I'm sorry. I took it a little too far. I won't do it again, okay? Come here. I'm sorry.

Sami: Lucas, I'm gonna kill you.

Kate: You are a Brady and a Roberts and that is one hell of a combination.

Jett: If you don't have someone that you love to come home to, then you may as well not come home at all.

Abe: My job's all I have.

Kate: I slept with Stefano DiMera.

Roman: You did what?

Stephanie: You need to calm down.

Jeremy: You're not going anywhere.
