John: Gin.

Marlena: I was thinking of something along the lines of tea, just tea. How about herbal? Some for you?

John: I know how she likes it.

Marlena: How are you -- how are you holding up?

Belle: I just keep thinking about how Shawn was with Claire -- how I had this perfect, beautiful, little gift, and I just couldn't be happy about it. And now I've actually lost a baby.

Marlena: Honey. Honey...

Belle: I know that letting Philip go was the right thing to do.

Marlena: I know you're worried about Claire, too, but it's going to be all right. It is. I promise.

Belle: Yeah, well, thank God I have you and Dad and Claire. I don't know.. I just -- I can't help feeling very alone.

John: All right, we got tea and banana bread -- doctor's orders.

[Doorbell rings]

Marlena: I'll get it. Oh, Shawn. Come in.

Shawn D.: No, that's okay. I just brought a couple gifts for Belle and Claire.

Marlena: Well, I'm sure she -- are you okay?

Shawn D.: Oh, yeah, I just had a fender bender. If you could give these to Belle --

Marlena: Well, I could. I could, but I think she'd rather get them from you. Get in here. Belle, you have a visitor.

Belle: Hey. What are you doing here?

Mimi: Hey.

Philip: Hey.

Mimi: Are you going somewhere?

Philip: I'm out of here.

Mimi: When are you coming back?

Philip: I'm not. I'm leaving for good.

Sami: What did you say?

Lucas: Come on, Sami, don’t. You heard me.

Sami: I could not possibly have heard you right. What did you say?

Lucas: I said I still have feelings for you. There, I said it. Are you happy?

Sami: You criticize me all the time. A week ago, you were devoted to my sister, and now you tell me that you have feelings for me?

Lucas: That devotion you saw was me trying to convince myself I wasn't bored by being married to your sister.

Sami: Well, that doesn't entirely surprise me. The truth is that you would still be with her if you hadn't found out that she was cheating on you with Austin. You would still be clinging to her like plastic wrap.

Lucas: You're probably right. That's the truth. I was hanging on tight. I did whatever I had to do to avoid the truth.

Sami: And what truth is that?

Lucas: The only truth that matters. I want you, Sami. I always have, and I always will.

E.J.: Oh, dear, Lucas. Your mommy is not going to be very happy.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives.

Kate: Ahh, you're late.

E.J.: So I am.

Kate: [Giggles] A trophy?

E.J.: No, sadly, only a consolation prize. Yeah, Miss Brady managed to keep her knickers on.

Kate: E.J., we had a deal. Yore supposed to --

E.J.: Seduce the little tramp away from your son. Yes, I do remember. And I wasn't doing that badly, thank you. I had a good hand in keeping her away from Austin. Although, in retrospect, he seemed quite keen to get shot of her. Lucas, on the other hand, is going to be a little bit more of a problem.

Kate: How hard could it be to get her in bed half the town has already done it.

E.J.: Kate, I could have seduced Sami before we got out of the parking lot, but your son refuses to let her go.

Sami: I know what this is about and I am not gonna let you use me to get over Carrie.

Lucas: You couldn't be more wrong. You're 125% wrong. I was with Carrie to get over you, and it didn't work.

Sami: Please.

Lucas: It's the truth. I swear to God. I was only interested in her because we fell apart, that's all. And I had to dive into that relationship. I had no choice. I had to get you out of my heart and out of my head.

Sami: You are so mean to me. Do you know the nasty things that you've said to me? And now you're saying it's because you cared about me?

Lucas: Maybe I did it to protect myself, all right? Maybe I did it to show everyone. I don't know why I did it.

Sami: Yeah, well, it worked. I don't want to have anything to do with you.

Lucas: Sami, don't say that, all right?

Sami: And don't treat me like I am an idiot because I know that you loved Carrie. So, don't pretend like you didn’t.

Lucas: I'm not denying that. I did love her, all right? But it's not like -- it's not what --

Sami: Like what? It's not like what?

Lucas: What Carrie and I had was different. It was a peaceful, calmer type of love. But you -- you drive me crazy.

Sami: You drive me crazy, too.

Lucas: Good, good. That's good that I get under your skin. Honey, we bring out everything in each other -- the good and the bad.

Sami: I cannot go on this journey again with you, Lucas. It's too hard. It's too exhausting.

Lucas: All right, all right, fine, then we'll sleep at night, all right? But we have passion. We fight, we laugh, and we love harder than anyone I've ever known. You are the only one that makes me happy. I don't want to be with anybody else, damn it. I want to be with you.. Please.

Sami: You know what I want? I want to be able to go on a date without worrying about stink bombs and Limburger cheese. I am over you, Lucas, and I have been for a long time.

Lucas: Look me in the eye when you say that.

Shawn D.: I came by to give you these.

John: Let's go check out the stars, Doc. What do you say?

Marlena: Oh, yes, let's do that.

John: Ahh. So...

Marlena: Don’t.

John: Don't what?

Marlena: Don't ask me to wish upon a star.

John: Why not?

Marlena: Because I think I would wish that Shawn and Belle and Claire become a family.

John: Is that a bad thing?

Marlena: I want her to be happy.

John: Oh, she's happy because her mom's home. So am I.

Marlena: John...

John: Hmm?

Marlena: I promised myself that if I got home, I'd tell you the truth.

John: Yeah. About what?

Marlena: About us. I have a confession to make.

Shawn D.: I didn't mean to interrupt. I just told your mom that I have something for you, and she yanked me in. She's got a pretty good grip.

Belle: Well, you didn't have to bring a present.

Shawn D.: It's more of a get-well gift. I got it for you while you were in the hospital. I just didn't have a chance to give it to you.

Belle: "1,001 jokes"?

Shawn D.: I figured that you could use a laugh or 1,001 of them.

Belle: Well, you were right.

Shawn D.: And there's something else in the bag for Claire. The lady at the store, she said that little kids love that thing -- something about chewing on the feet.

Belle: Yes, well, Claire's definitely teething. Thank you.

Shawn D.: It's no big deal, especially considering what I did.

Belle: What are you talking about?

Shawn D.: If I hadn't pushed that custody suit, your blood pressure probably wouldn't have gone so high. And a joke book and a stuffed animal is not much of a tradeoff for a little brother or sister.

Belle: Wait, you think it's your fault that I lost the baby? Is that why you dropped the custody suit -because you feel guilty?

Shawn D.: It's more than that. I was watching Philip with Claire, and you were in the hospital. And he was forced to make this terrible decision. And everything was falling apart, and you couldn't even tell. He was so good with Claire. He was so patient, and I wasn’t. And that's when I realized that I'm too selfish to be a good father.

Belle: No, no, you’re not. When you filed that custody suit, Shawn --

Shawn D.: Look, I know. That's exactly what I'm talking about. I was only thinking about what I want. I wasn't thinking about what I was doing to you or what you might want.

Belle: But I want...

Shawn D.: What, Belle? What do you want?

Philip: If I wait I will fly out of here tonight, I got to go now.

Mimi: No, you can’t. You can't just walk out on Belle and Claire.

Philip: Belle's gonna be fine. In fact, I think she might be relieved.

Mimi: Did she go back to Shawn?

Philip: Not that I know of. But I can't worry about that anymore.

Mimi: Well, what happened?

Philip: I asked her, Mimi. I asked her point-blank if she wanted to be married to me. I asked her if she wanted to have a future with me. And all she had to say was yes, and I would have gotten us through anything. But she couldn't do it. I have no choice but to leave.

Mimi: This is all my fault. I should have been honest with Shawn about Claire from the beginning, and then none of this would have happened.

Philip: Mimi, come on. I actually think your lie did some good. I'll tell you what -- it gave me the best year of my life. And it gave Claire a dad. I don't know when she's gonna have one again.

Mimi: Well, Shawn already hired a lawyer. Now with you gone, you know he's gonna get custody.

Philip: No, Mimi, didn't you hear? He dropped the suit.

Mimi: What?

Philip: Yeah.

Mimi: What? After all the hell he put me through for not letting him know Claire was his and now he's not even interested in raising her wow, I guess he really was just looking for an excuse to get out of our marriage.

Philip: No, no, no. I don't think it was that. I think he was probably just confused like we all are. I got to go. I got to go.

Mimi: Philip. After you Chloe broke up a you went to fight with the Marines --

Philip: I wasn't running away then either, and I don't regret joining the Marines.

Mimi: I know, but think of how different your life would be.

Philip: I'd still have my leg. But I probably would never have married Belle.

Mimi: Please, Philip, just stay and fight for your family.

Philip: Why does this matter so much to you?

Mimi: It's because I don't like who I've become. I lied to my husband, to my best friend, and to you all so I could keep Shawn. I hurt people that I love just to get my way.. And I want to change. Even if it means that there's nothing in it for me, I want to do the right thing.

Philip: I'm sorry, Meems. I'm gonna miss you. But I don't belong here anymore.

Mimi: I know it feels like that now.

Philip: It's the truth. It's always gonna feel like that. I played by the rules. I stuck to my vows. I love my wife. I love my child. And in the end, it didn't even matter because she didn't want me.

Lucas: You can't do it, can you? You can't even look me in the eye and tell me you don't care about me.

Sami: Want to bet? I don't care about you. Why is that so hard for you to accept?

Lucas: Because you were thrilled when I agreed to move in here. That's how I know. I know you, Sami.

Sami: I wanted you to move in for Will, not so we could be roommates with privileges. I even turned down your offer, remember?

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, and I know how you work. I know all your moves. You wanted to date E.J. Just to try to make me jealous. Isn't that right?

Sami: Oh, my God. Is there no way to dent your ego?

Lucas: Well, you're the one who wanted to be roommates. That tells me all I need to know.

Sami: Yeah, well, what does this tell you? Get out. Pack up and take a hike, Lucas Roberts.

Lucas: Just relax, all right?

Will: I knew you'd ruin it, Mom. You always do.

Kate: The one thing that Sami has over Lucas is sex, which is exactly why I wanted you to seduce her. But obviously I must have overestimated your abilities.

E.J.: I think, Kate, that you’ll find what you underestimated was your son. That little lapdog followed us around all evening.

Kate: He followed you?

E.J.: Oh, yeah. Him and Will. You should have seen the two of them. They were a regular Laurel and Hardy.

Kate: So, what exactly did they do?

E.J.: Well, let's see now. There was the Limburger cheese. There was a rather gorgeous-looking hooker named Candi. Apparently that's with an "I." There was a stink bomb. You know, I have to say, even a man of my considerable talents finds it offensive to seduce a lady who hasn't had any dinner and has a sprinkler system raining down on her head.

Kate: Now, why would Lucas do all those things?

E.J.: Because your little boy wants all his toys under one roof, and if Sami and I get together, he's gonna have to move out.

Kate: Lucas and Sami are living together?

E.J.: Oh. My, my, my, Kate. You are out of the loop, aren't you? [Laughs]

Philip: There is one thing I would really like you to do for me after I leave. When she gets older, will you tell Claire about me? Just tell her how much I love her and I always will and that no matter what anybody says, she'll always be my little girl. Take care, Mimi.

Mimi: Philip... Philip, you don't really want to do this. I can't let him go through with this.

John: So, you've got a confession to make.

Marlena: Something happened when I was in New Jersey. I thought I wasn't going to see you again. And that's happened to us before, I know. But somehow this time -- this time I realized that I'm scared.

John: All right, about what, being kidnapped again?

Marlena: Well, sure, sure, yeah.

John: Okay.

Marlena: Also about us.

John: I don't understand.

Marlena: Being here with you -- here -- being home with you and now Belle and Claire -- it's terrifying to me.

John: Marlena, we love you.

Marlena: I know. I know. I know you do. I know you do. That's why it's so frightening. The thought of losing you, of losing any of you -- it just terrifies me. That's why I run. I go to conferences or I go to workshops. I just try to get away.

John: Hey, hey, hey. You tell me how I can help you. What do you need?

Marlena: Well, you could hold me and not let go of me... ...and help me be brave enough to stay.

John: Oh, I'll try. But you know, Doc, if you want to go, no one can change your mind.

Marlena: You want me here, don't you?

John: Of course I do. I love you, Marlena, but you already know that, don't you?

Belle: Shawn, I want you --

Shawn D.: Just say it, Belle.

Belle: It's complicated. And I was confused.

Shawn D.: All right, and now?

Belle: And now I know. Shawn...

Shawn D.: Belle, are you all right?

Belle: What? Yeah, yes, I'm just a little weak. But I need to say this. I was a little confused, and then I talked to Carrie.

Belle: What Shawn and I had is over.

Carrie: You don't mean that.

Belle: I do. I do not want to see him or talk to him ever again.

Shawn D.: There's nothing to explain. Belle, some things are just meant to be. Some things aren’t.

Belle: Wait. Wait. You're just leaving? We have so much to talk about.

Shawn D.: Another time tell your parents I said goodbye.

Belle: Shawn! What about Claire? What about the custody suit?

Shawn D.: Look, she's already got a great family, all right? She doesn't need me.

Belle: What are you talking about?

Shawn D.: The timing is just -- it's off, Belle. I need to try and salvage what's left of my career and find a place to live.

Belle: Oh, okay, so you're too busy to be a parent? Is that it?

Shawn D.: I told you, I'm selfish. See you around.

Belle: Yeah, see you around. Ugh!

Will: The three of us are finally becoming a family and you're going out on dates? Were we supposed to be cool with that?

Sami: Look, Will, I'm sorry, but your father moved in here you okay?

Will: Listen, Mom. You're not walking alone in the world. Every time you lie or cheat or sleep with someone's boyfriend, you hurt all of us.

Sami: Will, okay, calm down. I'm sorry.

Will: Don't touch me. I'm sick of being suckered into believing that everything is gonna work out this time. God, I wish I'd never come back home.

Sami: Now, wait a second. Don't say that. You misunderstood what I said, Will. That's not what happened. Tell him, Lucas.

Lucas: Yeah, your mom wasn't trying to throw me out, really.

Sami: Right.

Lucas: Were you, honey?

Sami: No, when I said "get out," I meant that the three of us should get out more as a family.

Lucas: You also said "pack up." What did you mean when you wanted me to pack up?

Sami: I meant... I meant that we should pack up a picnic. I read in a parenting magazine that families should take picnics together.

Lucas: You also told me to take a hike. You said that, too.

Sami: And after the picnic, I think maybe we should take a family hike.

Will: Really?

Sami: Yeah, Will, really. Your dad and I will do anything. We'll go on hikes. We'll have picnics together. We'll do whatever it takes so that you don't want to leave again. But you cannot threaten to run away from home ever.

Will: Well, if Dad's not leaving then, could we take the hike this weekend?

Lucas: Yeah, that sounds great.

Will: Mom?

Sami: I'm in.

Will: Cool. Well, I'm gonna go back to bed.

Lucas: Sleep good, champ. Bed -- that really sounds like a good idea. Hmm?

Sami: Oh, God, I have to go.

Will: Okay, Dad, what's the real deal?

Lucas: The real deal is we're doing great. We're ahead. We're way ahead. And that guy E.J. is so far behind, he can't even see us. Yes. Great job. Good job.

E.J.: Well, I mean, according to Sami, she and Lucas are living together for Will's sake.

Kate: I have no idea what benefit it could be to Will to live with two parents who are constantly battling each other.

E.J.: I think that Lucas is thinking of slightly more delayed benefits.

Kate: Really? Then you really need to amp up your advances, you know? Do whatever it takes. Get her flowers. Send her poetry. Write her poetry. I don't know. Although, actually, with Sami, the only thing you're gonna need to do is give her a cheap box of chocolates and a $3 bottle of wine.

E.J.: I think she might be worth a little more than that.

Kate: Well, fine, do what it takes. Please, please don't tell me that this is actually more than business to you.

Maggie: Okay. Come here, Shawn. Okay, when was the last time you ate? Mmm. I thought so. Come on. I heard about the baby. I'm so sorry.

Shawn D.: Yeah, thanks.

Maggie: I'll give you something to eat.

Shawn D.: Oh, that's okay.

Maggie: No, I insist. After all, I owe you.

Shawn D.: For what?

Maggie: For bringing that very nice young lady to me. Willow is shaping up to be a very good waitress.

Shawn D.: That's great. I didn't think she'd be comfortable.

Maggie: You might have mentioned she was a hooker.

Shawn D.: Would you have hired her?

Maggie: Probably not.

Shawn D.: And you can't blame her for working the streets. Her dad was abusing her.

Maggie: I don't blame her. And I just commend you for looking past the label. She's lovely. And she's trustworthy, and she's an ideal employee. And how did you see all of that?

Shawn D.: I don't know. I just liked her. We started talking, and you know how it happens where you just hit it off.

Maggie: Hit it off. Hmm. Tell me something, Shawn. Did you drop by here to see your fabulous Aunt Maggie, or did you drop by here to see willow?

[Doorbell rings] [Doorbell rings again]

Belle: I'm coming. I'll be right there. Hi, Mimi. What's wrong?

Mimi: It's Philip. He's leaving town.

Belle: What? What do you mean?

Mimi: He said he's done with Salem, he's flying out of here, and he's never coming back.

Belle: What about Claire? She needs him.

Mimi: You both do.

Belle: Oh, my God. This is all my fault.

Mimi: No, it's not, Belle. But I think he's making a big mistake, and you are the only person who can stop him. Come on. I'll drive you.

Maggie: Of course, you don't have to answer.

Shawn D.: No, I don't mind. I was just thinking about your question. I guess you could say that I here to see you, Aunt Maggie, and I was hoping to see Willow.

Maggie: Very diplomatic. So, you've honored us both.

Willow: Um, Miss Horton?

Maggie: Oh, yes.

Willow: From table seven.

Maggie: Oh, okay.

Willow: Oh, hi, Shawn.

Shawn D.: Hi, Willow.

Maggie: Willow, let me see. Your shift is just five minutes away. It's over, so why don't you have a seat? I insist. Shawn, I'm gonna get you something to eat.

Willow: I really like my new job. It sure beats the old one.

Shawn D.: I bet.

Willow: Your aunt's the best. She helped me get a room at the YWCA. You have no idea what you've done for me.

Shawn D.: Hey, I just introduced you, you did the rest.

Willow: Just getting that chance, you know? Sometimes you never do.

Shawn D.: Sometimes you do and then you lose it.

Willow: You okay?

Shawn D.: Yeah. No. Everything is so much worse than it was when I first met you. It's like everything's going wrong.

Willow: You're hurt. I can make you feel better.

Shawn D.: You don't have to do that.

Willow: I want to.

Mimi: There he is. What's wrong with you? Go.

Belle: I don't know. I don't know if it's the right thing to do.

Kate: What is it about you men and Sami, hmm?

E.J.: Everything about that says sex. She's fun in bed. It shows.

Kate: Well, she's not the only one, you know. She's just the most blatant.

E.J.: I don't doubt that. I've had my suspicions about a few others -- you, for instance.

Kate: Really?

E.J.: Of course, it's entirely possible that I could be wrong.

Kate: Or maybe not.

Will: Let me ask you something, Dad.

Lucas: Yeah.

Will: Did you tell me that we were gonna try and get Mom back from E.J. just so that I could help you sabotage her date?

Lucas: Well, no, Will. I didn't mean we weren't gonna concentrate on the goal, you know?

Will: Well, I mean, unless you really believe that the three of us should be together, then we'll never make it.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, I guess you're right. I never thought of it that way.

Will: Well, could you start? 'Cause I'm really getting sick of being yo-yoed back and forth. I don't want to be part of your games anymore.

Lucas: All right, son, I don't blame you. You're right. What are you asking me? Are you asking me if your mom and I truly belong together? Is that your question?

Will: Yeah.

Lucas: I do. I honestly do. I think we all should be together. Now eat your ice cream like a good boy.

Sami: E.J., are you there? It's Sami. Oh, it's unlocked. Kate.

Kate: What do you want?

Sami: What are you doing here?

Kate: I'm working. This is my office.

Sami: Right, of course. Look, I'm sorry. I'm looking for E.J. Have you seen him?

Kate: Nope, haven't seen him.

Sami: Well, if you do see him, will you please tell him that I am looking for him? Because I wanted to apologize for our date tonight. It sort of went awry.

Kate: Well, I'm not a messenger service, so, no, I will not be telling him that. And now, if you don't mind, I'm going to get back to work.

Sami: Bitch.

E.J.: No more Sami?

Kate: Oh, if only that were true. But she is gone for the moment.

E.J.: I though I was going to keep her busy this evening.

Kate: Apparently Lucas doesn't want her as much as you said.

E.J.: Really?

Kate: She doesn't want to seduce him because she wants you.

E.J.: But?

Kate: But... but I was here first.

John: Are you all right?

Marlena: It's a note from Belle. It says that she's running an errand and she would like us to listen for Claire.

John: That's nice. So, why does that make you cry?

Marlena: Because it's -- that's it. That's all of it. That's -- it's being home with you and having Belle here rely on us and having our grandchild upstairs in the nursery. And that's -- that's what it is. That's our life.

John: It's a nice life.

Marlena: It's a wonderful life. And I am never, ever, ever going to leave it again...ever.

Shawn D.: I can't let you do this.

Willow: But I want to. Call it a mini vacation.

Shawn D.: A mini vacation? How do you figure?

Willow: Well, when you go to bed with someone, someone you care about, it's like, I don't know, the way I imagine Bermuda -- a trip to some beautiful place where someone massages you and you relax and you leave all the problems in your life behind.

Shawn D.: Is that how you see sex?

Willow: No, that's how I see making love.

Shawn D.: I've never been to Bermuda.

Willow: Let me take you.

Shawn D.: On one condition.

Willow: Is it a weird one?

Shawn D.: No, the condition is that this be a date.

Willow: Wow. I thought guys only did that in old movies.

Maggie: Shawn, honey, your food's ready.

Shawn D.: I don't have time, Aunt Maggie. I've got a date.

Maggie: Well, that's what I thought, so I got it to go.

Shawn D.: Thanks.

Maggie: Uh-oh.

Philip: One way, right?

Attendant: That's right, sir. You should hurry. They've already started boarding.

Mimi: Well, then I'm gonna stop him.

Belle: No, no.

Mimi: All you have to do is tell him you want him to stay.

Belle: And then what, Mimi? He comes home and we go back to trying to be something that we can't be? It's just selfish.

Mimi: What about Claire?

Belle: Philip has spent the last two years of his life putting Claire and me first. It's time to put him first, and he deserves better than what I can give him.

Sami: Lucas, I swear to God, if you pull another stunt like that again, you are out of here.

Chelsea: I want my mom and dad to be back together. And I'm willing to stop at nothing until that happens, so what do I do?

Patrick: I want us to be together, and I am prepared to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Shawn D.: Did you come here for any particular reason?

Bo: Yeah, I am worried about you. You obviously need help before it's too damn late.
