Tek: This is Detective Kramer. I'm in the church vestibule. I was tracking a suspect, but I lost him. No. I didn't get a good look at him. Milano, I want you to go outside and check the perimeter for any suspicious activity. The rest of you, don't call attention to yourselves, okay? Hold tight. Hold your positions. Report back if you see anything.

Fr. Jansen: Lucas, may I have the rings, please?

Lucas: Yes. Absolutely.

Fr. Jansen: I will now bless the rings. Father, hear our prayer for Samantha and Austin. With faith in you and in each other, we pledge their love today. May the Lord God bless these rings that you give to each other as a sign of your love and fidelity. May those who wear them always have a deep faith and trust in each other. Austin...repeat after me. Samantha Gene, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity.

Austin: Samantha Gene, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity.

Kate: I can't believe this wedding is actually happening.

E.J.: We must accept the things we cannot change, Kate.

Fr. Jansen: I promise to be honest, faithful, and true to you all the days of our lives.

Austin: I promise to be honest, faithful, and true to you all the days of our lives.

Fr. Jansen: Samantha... you may give Austin his ring.

Sami: [Sniffles] Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Sorry. Oh, thank you. Here. Oops.

Austin: [Chuckles]

Sami: [Chuckles, sniffles]

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives.

Austin: You can do it.

Fr. Jansen: You may place the ring on Austin's finger, Samantha.

Will: Go for it, Mom.

Austin: Samantha...

Sami: I'm sorry, Austin. I can't go through with it.

Austin: What's wrong?

Carrie: Sami! What --

Lucas: Sami, what are you doing?

Sami: [Shrieks] Don't, Dad!

Roman: Are you all right? Sami! [Guests murmuring]

Tek: Sami, what's go-- Sami!

Marlena: Roman, what happened? Why did she do this?

Roman: You know what, Doc? I'm not sure. But just before I walked her down the aisle, I knew something was up.

Marlena: What do you mean?

Roman: She was getting cold feet. I asked her if she was sure she wanted to go through with this wedding. She seemed to settle down and relax. I thought she was over whatever her problem was, but I guess not.

Will: What's wrong with mom?

Lucas: I don't know, buddy. I wish I knew. I wish I knew.

Austin: Excuse me. Could everyone just calm down for a minute, please? Thank you for your attention. I'm -- I'm sorry. I don't know what happened here, but I don't want anyone to go anywhere, okay? Samantha and I are getting married today. It's gonna work out.

Philip: Go talk to her.

Kate: I say a very special prayer every night that Austin would be spared from marrying Sami, and now my prayers have been answered spectacularly.

E.J.: Yes, but do you know why?

Kate: I don't care why. My son is not going to be married to her, and I am not going to have that witch as a daughter-in-law.

Bo: Why do Sami's weddings always end up like this?

Hope: Better the wedding than the marriage.

Officer: I'll be right there, Detective Kramer.

John: I'll be back.

Roman: [Sighs]

Marlena: I should have spent more time with Sami the last few weeks.

Roman: Doc, listen to me. Don't blame yourself.

Marlena: My daughter has walked out on her wedding. I don't know why.

Roman: She's my daughter, too, and I am just as clueless as you are.

Marlena: Tsk.

Tek: I want you to stay outside her door. Do not let anybody get in there. Okay.

John: What's going on?

Tek: We're on threat alert.

John: It's the second time St. Luke's has been targeted during a wedding.. Who's behind it?

Tek: We don't know, but we have reason to believe everyone inside could be in danger.

Austin: Samantha, open up the door. Samantha.

Sami: [Voice breaking] Go away.

Austin: I asked you to marry me. You said yes. You can't just walk out on me without telling me why.

Sami: [Sniffles] [Exhales sharply] Okay. Austin... you can't change my mind.

Austin: Why can't I change your mind?

Sami: Mnh-mnh. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry that I did this -- that I let it go this far. I don't deserve to wear this dress, and I certainly -- I don't deserve to have a wonderful guy like you waiting for me at the altar.

Austin: More than any woman I know, you deserve to have your dreams come true.

Sami: Don’t.

Austin: Don't what?

Sami: I have no business marrying you.

Austin: It takes two to get married. I'm entitled to a vote here, Don’t you think?

Sami: Please Don’t be nice to me.

Austin: But I love you.

Sami: Austin, no. You can't, okay? You have to get over any feelings that you have for me as quickly as possible.

Austin: I can't take this seriously. We already exchanged our wedding vows.

Sami: Oh, my God. I'm so embarrassed. I should be struck by lightning. I took s-sacred vows in my family's church. I'm so -- I'm so ashamed.

Austin: Okay, if this is you being hard on yourself for things that happened in the past, no one is perfect... least of all me. But the whole point of wedding vows is to move forward from today, not looking back on the past and the things that we regret. But this is a fresh start for both of us. Can't you see it that way? Believe it or not, there's a lot of people out there pulling for us to make it. I want us to make it. This is a new start -- a new life -- I mean, not some, you know, dream-fantasy life -- you know, we live happily ever after, like Cinderella and her prince? -- But like a real life. Things go wrong, you make mistakes, but you stick together, anyway.

Sami: I wish --

Austin: You don’t have to wish, Sami. You already got it. It's right here. All you have to do is reach out. You just take it. Take me for your lawful wedded husband.

Sami: I'm never gonna put this ring on your finger. [Sniffles] And -- [Sniffles] And I want you to...take your ring back.

Caroline: I feel so sorry for Sami. I wonder if she'll ever be married and drive off with people throwing rice.

Shawn: The way we did?

Caroline: Right.

Shawn: I treasure the memory of that night.

Caroline: I love you, Shawn Brady.

Shawn: Oh, I love you, too.

Steve: So, from what I've seen of Brady weddings so far, this is pretty typical.

Kayla: Never a dull moment.

Bo: Hey, you must be used to this by now.

Roman: Oh, man. It doesn't make it any easier.

Bo: Oh, I bet. Hey, John is out in the vestibule with Tek and undercover guys. What's up with that?

Roman: How the hell would I know? I'm just a commander.

Bo: Yeah.

Roman: Let's go find out.

Bo: Right. Hey, excuse me. Keep your eyes open, okay? If you see anything suspicious, give me a call.

Hope: Okay.

Frankie: What's up? Does he think something's up? What's going on?

Hope: I have absolutely no idea, but apparently Bo thinks so.

Max: Strange, huh?

Stephanie: From what my mom tells me, this happens with Sami a lot. Should you be sitting next to me?

Max: Why? You mean because of Chelsea?

Stephanie: She's pretty jealous.

Max: Yeah.

Belle: Why would Sami do something like that?

Philip: I don’t know. She doesn't know what she wants.

Belle: You think it's really that simple?

Philip: I tried to warn him about Sami, and I know she's your half sister and you love her, but I think Austin's the lucky guy today.

Lucas: I don’t know. I really thought she had it this time, you know?

Carrie: Yeah, I know.

Lucas: I can't stand what this is doing to Will. It's really crushing him.

Carrie: We all thought that she had changed.

Lucas: I wasn't too sure. I hoped it, but I wasn't sure.

Carrie: Wait. We still don’t know what happened. We don’t know why she ran out of the church.

Lucas: She got stranded with E.J. during a rainstorm 'cause his car broke down -- that's what happened.

Carrie: You think something happened between Sami and E.J.?

Lucas: I don’t know for sure. I hope I'm wrong, but I don’t know.

Carrie: I can't believe Sami would do this because of E.J.

Lucas: If it's not E.J. and she's in love with Austin, why the hell did she leave him at the altar? That's what I want to know.

Chelsea: I can think of a reason. Maybe Sami realized that she's not the woman my Uncle Austin really loves.

Austin: I'm not taking the ring back.

Sami: You have to.

Austin: No. No. We are getting married today. I don’t know what freaked you out back there, but whatever is wrong, we can fix it.

Sami: No. We can’t. Nothing can. I'm not worthy of being your wife..

Austin: Don't talk to me like I'm some kind of saint. I'm not. I've done things. I've made mistakes -- things I'm ashamed of. Trust me. But I am ready to give you my heart. I'm totally committed to a future with you.

Sami: I know, and that is why it is so hard for me to tell you.

Austin: Tell me what? Tell me. Help me to understand.

Sami: I haven't changed the way that everybody -- I haven't changed the way that you think I have. I am a fake.

Austin: I know that's not true.

Sami: I'm not faking all the time. Austin... doing the right thing -- something that is so easy and obvious for other people -- is hard for me, and I'm always afraid that I'm gonna lose somebody or something that is important to me, and so I make these choices...and I do these things that hurt people, and I don’t think that, that is ever gonna change. I am not a good enough person to be married to you.

Austin: You are acting out of fear. You are just afraid that you're not gonna be able to live up to your ideal of what a wife should be.

Sami: No. Your ideal. I'm not the perfect woman for you.

Austin: I don’t want a perfect woman. I want you.

Sami: No, you don’t. You don’t even know me. Austin, when I'm with you, I'm -- I'm on my best behavior all the time... because I badly for love me and for you to want me. And if we got married, well, obviously, you would see through that and you would be disappointed, and I am not gonna do that to you.

Austin: We live together. We work together. I think I know you pretty damn well.

Sami: The woman you talked about in those vows is not me.

Austin: She's not anybody else. I love you for who you are. After everything we've been together, how can you honestly look at me in my eyes and say that I don’t know you?

Sami: Austin, I know you... and I hope someday... that you get to be with the woman that you really want.

Austin: Wait. You still haven't explained to me why.

Sami: I can’t. I can't explain right now. Please -- please just give me some time alone. [Clears throat, sniffles] [Exhales sharply] Please go away, Austin.

Austin: Okay. I'm gonna go for now... but this is not over. [Door opens, closes] I'm saying stuff that she should have kept to herself. I kind of wish I could take it back

Roman: All right. So, Tek, are you saying that Lexie has no idea who called her with this threat?

Tek: None.

John: Now, why am I getting this feeling that you know a little more about this than you're telling us?

Tek: [Inhales, exhales deeply] Sami made a secret pact with Lexie.

Bo: What kind of pact?

Tek: Sami promised that she'd keep her mouth shut about our affair if Lexie promised to lie to Carrie.

Bo: Lie to her about medical tests, her history?

Tek: She was blackmailed into telling Carrie that if she had a kid with -- with Austin, that the child would be born with birth defects.

Bo: Oh, man.

Roman: Damn. I thought Sami had finally gotten her act together.

Bo: You think this is why she called off the wedding?

Roman: Yeah, I would guess. Probably. Yeah.

John: I'm not really concerned about that. I'm kind of wondering about how this "mechanical voice" -- the one that called Lexie -- knew that she and Sami had a pact.

Tek: That, I don’t know. Can you guys do me a favor and just keep what I told you about the anonymous caller between us? Lexie was warned not to say anything. She was threatened.

John: Threatened how?

Tek: They said they'd go after Abe and Theo.

Roman: The bottom line is we got to figure out who's behind these threats to them and the Brady’s.

Tek: You got it.

Bo: None of our guys have seen any suspicious activity?

Tek: I caught a glimpse of somebody back here earlier, but when I chased after them, whoever it was got away.

Roman: If you haven't already done this, call the crime lab. Have them go over the church grounds, look for any clues.

Tek: Okay.

Bo: John and I will take a look around. Hang in there, bro.

Roman: Thanks. [Sighs] [Exhales deeply]

Chelsea: The truth is the truth. Why pretend? Sami was Uncle Austin's second choice. We all know that. So maybe Sami wanted to be with some guy where she would be his first choice. I mean, wouldn't that be novel?

Lucas: Do me a favor and mind your own business, all right? She's always causing trouble. Don't let her get to you.

Carrie: I cannot believe she said that about Austin.

Lucas: I don’t care what Chelsea said, all right? I spoke to my brother about your relationship with him in the past, and he said it was over. Obviously it's over for you 'cause we're married. And he's moved on, as well. That's why we're all here. I just can't figure out why Sami left -- left him at the altar.

Carrie: Austin. There he is.

Lucas: What?

Austin: [Sighs] I have an announcement to make. Uh... [Chuckles] I'm really sorry to have to say this -- I'm really sorry, but, as for now, the wedding is off. Hopefully that will change, but it won't today.

E.J.: Try not to look too happy, Kate, out of respect.

Austin: Thank you all for coming out to show your support, but I guess you can all go home now.

Kate: I hate to see my son hurt.

E.J.: This was what you wanted, Kate.

Kate: Yes, but only because I know he'll get over his broken heart and he'll be better off with a life that doesn't include a harlot as a wife.

E.J.: Harlot? That's very biblical.

Kate: It's very accurate, as if "liar," "thief," "cheat."

E.J.: We all have our flaws, Kate. Beautiful though you are, yours are many, I'm sure.

Kate: Well, I think I could forgive you for that insult if you take me dancing.

E.J.: We'll dance. But right now, I have a friend to take care of. Sami. Sami's my friend, and I need to make certain she's all right.

Will: My mom's a freak.

Carrie: Oh, Will, Don’t say that. You're just upset.

Will: No, I mean it. She blew it again. Face it -- she's never gonna change.

Lucas: Buddy, sit down. Relax, all right? Don't you worry about it. We're gonna make sure everything's okay.

Carrie: I'm so sorry.

Kayla: I'm sorry.

Steve: Want to sit down?

Kayla: Yeah. Uh-huh.

Austin: Thank you.

Carrie: How are you doing?

Austin: I've seen better days. I tried. I tried to tell her how much I wanted to marry her, but she wouldn't hear me. She's too upset.

Carrie: Is there anything that Lucas and I can do?

Austin: Yeah. Yeah. You can give Samantha a ride home. No, let me rephrase that. Give her a ride home to her apartment. I have to find a new place to live in the morning.

Carrie: Austin, come on. You can stay with us.

Austin: No. I'm really not up for company. I'll stay at a hotel tonight. Hopefully tomorrow Sami and I can straighten things out.

Caroline: Austin looks so sad. What a shame. This day just started out full of promise.

Marlena: This day began with Sami being late to the church. Maybe something happened before she got here.

Shawn: God knows we love her. With our Sami, it could be anything.

Marlena: I should go see her.

Caroline: Maybe you should give her a little more time.

Lucas: Excuse me. I'm really sorry, man. I know she was so excited to marry you. I Don’t understand what happened. I don’t know what made her pull a 180 like that.

Austin: She feels like she's not worthy of me.

Carrie: Why would she say that now?

Austin: From the way it's like she's haunted from her past. She kept insisting that she hasn't changed the way we all think she has.

Lucas: Wait a minute. You've got to convince her. You guys belong together.

Austin: I tried.

Lucas: You got to try again.

Austin: I will. She just needs -- she needs some time.

Lucas: Whatever you do, just don’t give up on her, all right?

Sami: Go away. Daddy. Daddy.

Jennifer: Hey, I Don’t know about you, but I'm starving.

Frankie: Me too.

Jennifer: I know there was gonna be food at the reception, but I didn't eat before the wedding. My stomach is growling.

Frankie: Yeah. Let me take you to Chez Rouge.

Jennifer: Okay. I'm there.

Frankie: Let's go.

Jennifer: Hey, we're gonna head out, all right?

Kayla: Good to see you.

Steve: I guess there's no point hanging around, anyway, huh?

Hope: Well, Sami's wedding being called off truly is not surprising.

Kayla: Still, disappointing.

Hope: I know.

Jennifer: I'll see you soon.

Hope: All right.

Jennifer: Are you okay?

Hope: Yeah, I'm fine. I'm fine. Don't worry about me.

Frankie: We'll see you guys.

Max: Well, there goes the party.

Stephanie: Max!

Max: I can't help it. You are too gorgeous to be going home now. On the track, you look good. Off the track, you look amazing.

Stephanie: You think I'm gonna decide not to race you?

Max: No. So, what happened? Did you sign the contract with Austin's new company?

Stephanie: Yes, I signed.

Max: That's gonna be weird.

Stephanie: I'm afraid you're gonna have to eat my dust.

Marlena: Look at the two of you. You must be exhausted.

Belle: We had a long night at the hospital.

Marlena: The hospital? Why? Is there a problem with you?

Philip: No, Belle's gonna be fine. I just need to get her home and off her feet. You want to go home?

Belle: Okay. If you have time, let's talk tomorrow. Are you free?

Marlena: Tell me what time. I will clear my schedule.

Belle: Okay.

Marlena: I love you. You take care of her.

Philip: I will. You take care of yourself.

Marlena: Okay.

Philip: Bye.

Billie: Honestly, I'm not surprised this happened, but I have to say, I am ticked off about the way she did it. You Don’t want to hear this now, but I think Sami did you a favor.

Austin: You're right. It's not what I want to hear.

Billie: Is there anything I can do to help?

Austin: Help me figure out Sami.

Sami: I'm sorry, Dad. I'm so sorry. Everybody must h-hate me for hurting Austin.

Roman: Nobody is very happy out there, Sami.

Sami: I bet Kate is thrilled.

Roman: Don't you think about that, all right? Don't you think about that right now. You know what? I have been drying your tears since you were a little girl. I think that seems like it's gonna be a job of mine for life.

Sami: I can't help but get into trouble all the time.

Roman: Sit down, Sami. Sit down. Look at me. Do you want to catch me up on this particular patch of trouble?

Sami: Dad, I couldn't take the pressure. Austin wanted a me that -- that just doesn't exist. He kept putting me on a pedestal, and I always thought I would love that, but -- but it's scary. It's too far to fall.

Roman: Maybe you wouldn't fall.

Sami: Come on, Dad. You know I can't change that much.

Roman: Sami, do you want to tell me what really made you run out of that church?

Sami: Dad, I did tell you. I couldn't take it. I couldn't take the idea of... spending the rest of my life trying to be someone I'm not.

Roman: I think you did the right thing, calling off that wedding.

Sami: I had to. Now I'll...never be with Austin, and I'll... never be happy.

Roman: You know what, Sami? The secret to happiness is very simple. You have to be willing to be happy. I Don’t think you've ever learned that lesson. You have always been in too big a hurry.

Sami: Dad, do you really think there's no hope for me?

Roman: To quote your Grandma Caroline -- you reap what you sow in this life, Sami.

Roman: [Sighs] Hey.

John: Hey. Well, did Sami come clean?

Roman: Not even close. She told me a bunch of stuff, which is probably true, about how she doesn't feel very good about herself, but nothing about why she blew off the wedding. Damn it. I just wish to hell I could tell Carrie what I know -- what a sick thing for Lexie to be blackmailed into doing.

John: But if Carrie knew --

Roman: If Carrie knew, it would be very painful for her to hear. She decided to marry Lucas very probably because of Sami's lie. Now she thinks she can't have kids. She's still sticking by her husband. I don’t know if the truth would have made any difference a couple months ago, but it's too late now. And we have promised that we're gonna keep this a secret for Lexie's sake, and I know damn well we got to keep it quiet for Abe and Theo's sake, too.

Bo: Listen, I'm gonna take Hope home. I got to check on Shawn. No sense hanging around here.

Roman: Bo, you watch out. I mean, if there's a real threat to our family, we all got to be careful.

Bo: You watch your back, too. Later, John.

John: Yeah. I'm gonna look around a little more.

Roman: All right. Good idea. Thank you, John. [Exhales deeply]

Steve: See ya.

Kayla: Thank you.

Steve: Can I give you a ride home?

Kayla: Sure. Steve... being here at this wedding and hearing those vows, did you remember anything?

Steve: About our wedding? No. Bride, groom, a church full of people -- you'd think something would kick in. No. Kayla, you know, I'm really tired of making you feel bad.. You think we should, uh, you know, cool it for a while? Should we take a break?

Kayla: Well, you Don’t think you're gonna get rid of me that easy, do you?

Steve: Come on. Let's go.

Lucas: I want to talk to you for a second, all right?

Caroline: You call us, please.

Shawn: I'm sorry.

Austin: Thanks for coming. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Kate: Austin...

Austin: Mom, whatever it is, I don’t want to hear anything.

Kate: You know that I love you, and you know that I support you.

Austin: You love and support me as long as I don’t marry Sami.

Kate: What Sami did today was actually a very brave thing, because your marriage would have been a complete mistake, Austin.

Austin: I hate to disappoint you, but things are not over between us, not as long as I have anything to say about it.

Carrie: I know I don’t have a right to ask, but... d-did you mean what you said -- that it isn't over yet with you and Sami?

[Knock on door]

E.J.: Hey. You need a friend to talk to?

Sami: Where have you been?

E.J.: Me?

Sami: Yeah. I've been stalling this whole time, waiting for you. I thought you would never come.

John: Now, what are you doing here?

Lucas: Are you all right? I'm just so sorry. I'm sorry about this.

Will: I ought to be used to it.

Lucas: I really thought it was gonna be different this time, though.

Will: Well, nobody else I know has such a crappy life.

Lucas: We're gonna get through this, you understand? We always do... even your mom.

Will: What if she doesn't this time? What if it's worse than ever?

Carrie: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked that.

Austin: I am a man of my word. You know that about me. I asked Sami to marry me. I'm sticking in my proposal. I'm gonna do everything in my power to convince her that we can be happy together. But if after we talk, she doesn't want to go through with the wedding, if she still thinks that she's not worthy of me, there's nothing I can do about that, and I'm just gonna have to go my own way.

Sami: I have been waiting to tell you what happened.

E.J.: Go on.

Sami: The reason I called off the wedding is because I got a call from -- from a mechanical-sounding voice. It's obviously the person who's been sending me the notes.

E.J.: When?

Sami: Right before the ceremony. I was all set to walk down that aisle and make my daddy proud of me for once.

E.J.: What did the voice say? Sami... what did the voice say?

Sami: That if I went through with the wedding and married Austin...that they would tell everyone that I blackmailed Lexie to lie to Carrie.

E.J.: I wish I had known.

Sami: There's nothing you could have done to help me. No one could have. E.J., I didn't know what else to do. I was just picturing the whole family -- all those Brady’s out there, just hoping I'll get it right this time. And I went out there, and then I-I thought I might actually get away with it. And then...

E.J.: Then what?

Sami: I saw Lexie... standing near the confessional.

E.J.: You think that Lexie was the one behind the call?

Sami: I don’t know, but she hates me enough, after the way she threatened me yesterday. E.J., all I want is for my dad and my son to be proud of me. And obviously... I think my dad's given up on me. But Will -- he told me today that he's proud of me -- proud. I couldn't risk losing him. I mean, if he -- if he found out what I did to Carrie, he would never forgive me. [Exhales sharply]

E.J.: Come here. I know. Things look bleak and dreary now -- I know, I know -- but it'll work out. I'm gonna make sure of it.

Sami: [Crying]

E.J.: Shh. Shh.

Marlena: Hi, there. This must be the girl you've been dating. Nice to meet you. I'm Mrs. John Black.

Lexie: You should be very afraid. Someone else knows our dirty, little secret, and this someone can do a hell of a lot more harm than I ever could.

Bonnie: I'm serious. Whoever took the trouble to switch those embryos is capable of anything.
