Philip: Aah! Damn it. [Sighs] I made some coffee. You're welcome.

Belle: I can't have coffee, Philip. I'm pregnant.

Philip: You know, I distinctly remember Dr. Bader telling you, you could have up to two cups a day -- two cups. But of course, we don't want to do anything to put Shawn's baby at risk, now, do we?

Nurse: How are you doing today?

Mimi: How do you think?

Shawn D.: We're here because our surrogate was having some tests done to see how the embryos were doing.

Nurse: She's already had them. Everything looks perfect mean, except for.... I am so sorry about that mix-up. We all are.

Shawn D.: It wasn't her fault.

Mimi: How do you know?

Shawn D.: You're right. I don’t. But at least we know that our baby is doing fine.

Mimi: Our baby? It's mine and Philip's baby, or did you forget that?

Shawn D.: No, I didn't forget. It's your baby. It's our baby.

Mimi: Yeah, right.

Shawn D.: What is my mom doing here?

Mimi: Maybe the hospital messed up her life, too.

Shawn D.: I'm gonna go tell her about the baby -- the babies.

Mimi: Mm-hmm.

Shawn D.: Yeah -- will you come on?

Mimi: No, you go talk to her.

Shawn D.: Mom...

Patrick: Mimi, what are you doing here?

Mimi: Patrick...

Patrick: Whoa, whoa, whoa. What's wrong? Did the in vitro work?

Mimi: Oh, yeah, it worked, all right. They implanted it in our surrogate, and she and the baby are doing fine so far.

Patrick: Then what's wrong?

Mimi: I'm going to lose my husband because of it.

Hope: I came here to be with Jennifer, and I figured, heck, while I'm here, I might as well have Dr. Bader prescribe some vitamins. Honey, what are you doing here?

Shawn D.: Well, you heard about the IVF yesterday.

Hope: Yeah, you told me. What, is there a problem?

Shawn D.: Oh, yeah. You didn't -- there was a mix-up with the sperm, and Philip is the father of Mimi's baby and I wound up being the father of Belle's.

Hope: Oh, my God. Honey, are you all right?

Shawn D.: Better than Mimi.

Hope: I imagine that possibly maybe part of you is happy that Belle's having your baby?

Shawn D.: Mom -- Mom, I'm married to Mimi.

Hope: Honey, I know. I know that you love Mimi, but I am right, aren't I?

Carrie: [Groaning] Austin... Lucas.

Lucas: You were dreaming about him, weren't you?

Sami: Hey. How was your run?

Austin: It was great. It was great. It's going to be a hot one. You okay?

Sami: Yeah, why?

Austin: I don't know. You just seem like something's bothering you. No?

Sami: No, it is. I'm still upset about last night. Look, Austin, I can't stop thinking about what would have happened if you hadn't have been outside and you saw the smoke coming from Lucas' window. I mean, what if you hadn't? They could have died. We could have died. We all could have --

Austin: But we didn’t. Carrie and Lucas -- they're okay. It'll be fine. I'm gonna take a shower.

Sami: Ooh! Gross! Stop it, Austin! Aah! Yuck!

Sami: [Sighs] [Water running] [Knock on door] E.J., Oh, I'm so glad you're here. We have to talk.

E.J.: What's wrong?

Sami: Look, I need your help, okay? Someone is trying to destroy my relationship with Austin. You have to help me.

Lucas: That's all right you were dreaming about Austin. You know, he did save your life last night. He saved both of our lives. It makes sense that you'd be dreaming about him right now.

Carrie: Yeah.

Lucas: You all right?

Carrie: My throat's raw.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, mine too. Here. This ice water will help. It's from the smoke. Is that any better?

Carrie: Some wedding night, huh?

Lucas: Well, it was in the beginning, right?

Carrie: Yeah, it was.

Lucas: Maybe we should have gone to that hotel. Instead, we're in a 5-star hospital room.

Carrie: With a single bed and an I.V. [Sighs] I never want to see another candle ever again.

Lucas: Hey, well, at least you're okay.

Carrie: You too. And the baby, too, right?

Lucas: Yeah, the baby's gonna be fine. Lexie doesn't seem to think there's any reason to worry. She's probably just taking some tests as a precautionary reason.

Carrie: [Exhales sharply] And what about the apartment?

Lucas: Well, we're gonna need some new things around the apartment. It'll give us a chance, you know, to get rid of the bachelor pad and make it a place of our own.

Carrie: That doesn't sound good.

Lucas: The fire damage was mostly in the bedrooms, and the smell is horrible. But I called the insurance adjuster, and we got a contractor in there now. He's gonna remodel and repaint. Everything's gonna be fine, honey, you know? We'll redo the bathrooms while we're at it, you know? We'll make a nursery out of that spare bedroom.

Carrie: Sounds very expensive.

Lucas: Don't worry about that, all right? I called the travel agent. I'll extend our trip. I'll extend our honeymoon. That way, when we come back, the apartment will be perfect. It'll be all ready to go. How's this sound? We'll do fashion week, go to Milan. We'll visit your mom. We'll go through Europe and Italy, and we'll go to Florence and places I can't even pronounce. And then we'll end up in Venice, the most romantic place of all -- you and me in a gondola.

Carrie: Oh, Lucas, I can't wait.

Lucas: It's gonna be perfect, honey.

Carrie: [Coughs]

Lucas: Take it easy. It's gonna be perfect, okay? We're gonna have the perfect honeymoon, come back to our perfect apartment, our perfect marriage -- you and me and our perfect baby.

Carrie: And I want Will to know that he's as much a part of this family as the baby is and that he always will be.

Lucas: I love you. Look, I haven't had the easiest life, but don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. When I was at the altar with you and I slipped that ring on your finger and you said, "I do," I finally understood. I finally knew what it meant to be happy. I'm not gonna lose that. I'm not gonna lose you or our baby.

Austin: You're --

Carrie: Shh. Don't say a word. It was a mistake that I married Lucas.

Austin: But --

Carrie: You're the one that I want, the one that I love, the one I want to have children with.

E.J.: Look, I can help you, but the first thing that I need you to do is, sweetheart, just calm down.

Sami: I can't be calm. Listen to me. If the truth comes out, Austin is gonna leave me. Carrie will leave Lucas, and everything that I've worked so hard for will be destroyed.

E.J.: And you're sure that's not what you want?

Sami: How could you even ask me that? Of course it's not.

E.J.: Last night at the hospital, you seemed very concerned about Lucas.

Sami: Look, I care about Lucas, okay? He's the father of my son. But it's not like I'm still in love with him or anything. You said that you were gonna help me, E.J. Look at this. You told me to ignore the first note. What am I supposed to do, keep burning these notes?

E.J.: No, you're right. The second note changes everything. This isn't random anymore, and we don't know how crazy or how deranged or determined this guy is.

Sami: What do you mean?

E.J.: I mean, look, Samantha, I'm not an expert, but the wording of this note -- I know that you don't want to go to the police, but I really don't think that you have a choice.

Sami: I am not going to the police. I am not telling anyone.

E.J.: Sami, this isn't a game. Do you understand that? This person is not simply trying to break you and Austin up.

Sami: No, that is exactly what this person is trying to do.

E.J.: Then why don't they just go ahead and do that? This person is enjoying torturing you. Do you understand that? And my biggest fear is that it goes from something which is mental, like this, to something which is physical.

Sami: E.J., You're scaring me.

E.J.: Good, because you need to take this seriously. This person is stalking you. They followed you to Dune. They know where you live. Your life could be in danger. Now, you need to go to the authorities, please.

Sami: E.J., I am not telling the police or anyone else.

Belle: I wouldn't put any baby at risk.

Philip: Oh, please. You had coffee every morning when you were pregnant with Claire.

Belle: I didn't know that I was pregnant with Claire. This is my first trimester. It's the most important time.

Philip: We don't even know that you're pregnant for sure yet. Now, you're the one that says things go wrong with in vitro all the time, that we should just let nature take its course. But you're not taking any chances on nature now, are you?

Belle: After what Claire went through with her liver transplant, what could you possibly find wrong with me wanting to do everything I can to have a healthy baby, even if you don't want it?

Philip: It doesn't matter that I don't want it. You do. You know, when we had Claire, I felt like our marriage was finally, finally cemented. No matter what kind of past you had with Shawn, we were a family now. I didn't have to worry about you having second thoughts. That baby changes everything.

Belle: Why?

Philip: Because the two of you -- you and Shawn are forever bonded now for the rest of your lives. And now you want me to just sit here and watch you two get closer and closer while his baby grows inside my wife!

Belle: Philip... hey... how do you think I feel?

Philip: Son of a bitch.

Belle: Do you think I like the fact that you're having a baby with Mimi?

Philip: It's not the same thing!

Belle: Why -- because the woman's just supposed to accept it?

Philip: Because I've never been in love with Mimi! And you never stopped being in love with him!

Patrick: How could the hospital make a mistake like that?

Mimi: I don't know, but everything is a complete mess now. It's like I'm being punished.

Patrick: Punished for what?

Mimi: I don't know -- for the abortion, maybe for just being a Lockhart 'cause nothing ever good happens to any of us.

Patrick: Come on. You know that's not true.

Mimi: Well, anyway, what are you doing here?

Patrick: I'm, uh, I'm here to support Jennifer.

Mimi: Is Jack doing better?

Patrick: No one knows.

Mimi: What about Hope? Did you ever find out who the father of her baby is?

Patrick: Yeah, I can't believe I didn't tell you this, but, um... the baby's mine.

Mimi: Oh, my God, Patrick! I'm so happy for you. You're gonna be a great dad.

Patrick: Thank you. Thank you.

Mimi: So, I guess this means hope is going through with the divorce, which means you two can get married and raise the kid. Maybe one Lockhart will live happily ever after.

Patrick: Mimi, slow down, really. I don't know if Hope and I are going to get -- I don't know if we're gonna get married, okay? Look, she hasn't even decided what she wants to do about Bo or me.

Mimi: But --

Patrick: And I'm not gonna pressure her.

Mimi: But what about the baby?

Patrick: I know. Look, I made it clear that I will be there for her, but I'm not gonna rush her into making some kind of decision. She and Bo have been together for a long time, and if she's gonna leave him, I want to make sure she's positive.

Mimi: What if she doesn't?

Patrick: I love her, Mimi, you know. I want her to be happy.

Mimi: What about the baby?

Patrick: That's not an issue. No matter what happens, we've decided that I will definitely be a part of the baby's life.

Mimi: You're gonna have a baby.

Patrick: So are you.

Mimi: Yeah, but not with the man I love. And you know, I think I could actually deal with that part, but knowing that Shawn is having a baby with Belle -- I mean, they were together for a long, long time, just like his parents. What if it ends up bringing them back together?

Patrick: Come on. It's all right.

Hope: Truthfully, how do you feel about Belle having your baby?

Shawn D.: It's weird. Mom... I love Mimi. She is my wife. But for how many years did Belle and I talk about getting married and having a family together?

Hope: Yeah. I know, and then life gets in the way.

Shawn D.: I wouldn't be married to Mimi if I didn't love her with all my heart.

Hope: I know that.

Shawn D.: But when Claire was born, I knew Belle and Philip were gonna stay together, but she shouldn't have been having that baby with him. She was gonna have it with me.

Hope: And now she is.

Shawn D.: Yeah, but that shouldn't change anything.

Hope: Stop looking at life in terms of what should and shouldn't be. So, the only question you need to ask yourself is who your future is going to be with -- Mimi or Belle and your baby.

Austin: No, no, no. No, no, no. We can't do this. We can't do this. You are married to my brother. You are gonna have his baby.

Carrie: But you're the one I love.

Austin: No, no, no, no, no. Listen to me. You belong with Lucas. I belong with Sami.

Carrie: But --

Austin: She's my future. You're my past.

E.J.: Sami, this is serious.

Sami: You think I don't know that? Look, my dad is the police commander. If I tell him what I did to my sister, he will never forgive me.

E.J.: Listen, tell me. What exactly was it that you did to Carrie?

Sami: E.J., I don't think the details are even relevant, okay?

E.J.: Samantha, I need you to trust me. If you don't trust me, I don't think I can help you.

Sami: I have trusted you plenty. I showed you those freakin' notes, okay? I didn't have to do that, but I couldn't help myself. I just wanted to tell you, tell someone. And you promised me you would keep my secret.

E.J.: And I will, but this person isn't going to stop. And my concern is that things could get a lot worse.

Sami: You think I don't know that? Damn it, E.J. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I don't even know who's doing this to me.

E.J.: What you need to do is you need to take away the power that this person has over you.

Sami: How am I supposed to do that?

E.J.: You're gonna tell Austin the truth.

Sami: I can't, E.J. I can't tell him.

Austin: What can't you tell me?

Hope: Shawn, I know this is hard. But you have to -- you need to decide who you're going to be with.

Shawn D.: Just like you have to decide. Did you get the results of the test?

Hope: It's Patrick's.

Shawn D.: Good. Are you happy with that? I didn’t... I understand, Mom. I just think that you'd be better off... look, it's none of my business.

Hope: No, it is. It is your business. This is your family, too.

Shawn D.: We're not much of a family anymore.

Hope: What are you talking about? Don't say that. It's not true.

Shawn D.: Look... obviously, this is your decision. You already asked dad to move out, and you asked him for a divorce. And I know the only thing that called that into question was you weren't sure who the father of this baby was. Well, now that you know it's not dad's, maybe this is a sign that it's okay you asked him for a divorce and you can move on with Patrick..

Hope: So, then let me ask you this -- so, are you saying that because Belle's having your baby that maybe the two of you are meant to be together?

Shawn D.: It's not the same thing, Mom. I haven't even slept with Belle. I am not gonna do the same thing to Mimi that dad did to you. I'm not. I'm not gonna break my vows to my wife, just like I wouldn't ask Belle to break her vows.

Hope: Very noble of you. But you know what, honey? From my experience, when two people truly love each other, when they belong together, there is nothing in this world that could ever keep them apart -- nothing.

Shawn D.: But, Mom, are you talking about Belle and me or are you talking about you and dad?

Philip: I'm right, aren't I? You still love him. And you always have.

Belle: I love you, and I love our daughter. And regardless of what you might think, I'm committed to our marriage, and I am committed to our family and --

Philip: But what? But what?

Belle: What do you want me to say -- that I don't still have feelings for Shawn?

Philip: That's exactly what I want you to say.

Belle: So you want me to lie to you? He was my first boyfriend.

Philip: I am your husband.

Belle: This isn't my fault.

Philip: And you won't even consider doing anything about it.

Belle: Okay, I know that you're my husband. And any other decision, I would expect that we would make it together, but this is my body that we're talking about.

Philip: Oh, God, you're pro life, all right? I get it. If we had gotten pregnant the conventional way, we wouldn't even know about it yet. We are talking about a couple of cells here.

Belle: A couple of living cells. You know, when we went to see the embryo before it was implanted, you were calling it our baby.

Philip: If the mix-up hadn't been with Shawn, if it had been with a total stranger, would you still insist on having the baby? No! No, you wouldn’t. You want this baby because it's Shawn's, and you're just trying to justify it to yourself and to me.

Belle: That's not true.

Philip: You have a choice to make, Belle. You have a choice to make if you are gonna have a future with Shawn and his baby or with Claire and me. You cannot have both!

Belle: Philip, please don't do this.

Philip: You make your choice!

Belle: No. Philip!

Austin: What can't you tell me?

Sami: No, no, Austin, it's nothing like that. Sorry. Um, I was planning a surprise for you, and I was asking E.J. to help me 'cause I wanted him to distract you, keep you out of the apartment while I planned a romantic dinner for us tonight. But I guess it doesn't matter now because obviously you know about the surprise.

Austin: Because you just told me.

Sami: Well, I didn't want you to think the wrong thing. I mean, he's sitting there.

Austin: I'm sorry. I'm sorry I ruined it.

Sami: No, no, that's okay.

Austin: We have a lot of work to take care of, but I think it's the thought that counts. I would love to have dinner with you, okay?

Sami: Good.

Austin: All right. I have to take care of some errands.

Sami: Okay.

Austin: I love you.

Sami: I love you, too.

Austin: All right. E.J...

E.J.: Hey.

Austin: You guys be nice, okay?

Sami: [Laughs] [Door opens and closes]

E.J.: Uh, wow. I don't think I've ever heard anybody come up with a story quite so quickly or so convincingly.

Sami: Thanks. Years of practice.

E.J.: Well, it's time to pull that practice to one side, I'm afraid. You need to tell Austin the truth.

Sami: E.J., you heard him. He said he loves me. I'm not gonna ruin that.

E.J.: Sami, if he finds out what is going on from this anonymous letter writer, things are going to be a hundred times worse. You need to explain to him what you did, and you need to trust in his forgiveness.

Sami: You have no idea what I have been through with Austin over the years. For him to propose to me -- he only did it because he really believes that I have changed. And if he finds out what I did, he'll -- he'll think that I haven't changed, and it'll be over.

E.J.: But that's exactly the point, Sami. You see, if you're honest with him now, you'll show him that you really have changed. He'll see that you deserve his love. Trust in his forgiveness and things are finally gonna work out. You'll be able to stop worrying.

Sami: And what if he can't forgive me?

E.J.: You're still gonna be able to stop worrying. Face it, Sami. This could be your last chance.

Carrie: [Gags] I knew it would be bad. We'll never get the smell out of our clothes.

Lucas: That's fine. We'll get all new clothes, all right? We'll get all new clothes on our trip when we're in Milan. We'll get you really awesome maternity clothes. We'll be the best-dressed couple in Italy and in Salem, right down to our underwear.

Carrie: I can't wait.

Lucas: Look, I know our wedding night wasn't perfect, but our honeymoon is gonna be simply unforgettable.

[Knock on door]

Austin: Hey, hello. Anybody here? Oh.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, it's us. We're just airing out the apartment.

Austin: Well, I was just on my way out, and I saw the door open. I thought, well, maybe the firemen forgot to close it.

Lucas: No, no, everything's fine.

Austin: Glad to see you're home from the hospital.

Carrie: Thanks.

Lucas: Uh, thank you for saving us the way you did -- both of us. We'll never forget that.

Austin: Lucas, you would have done the same thing. [Cellphone rings]

Lucas: Yeah. Oh, it's Jerry, the contractor. I told him to run some numbers when he got back to the office. Excuse me for a sec? Jerry, hey, it's Lucas. Yeah, the adjuster said there's some water damage...

Austin: You gave me a scare last night.

Carrie: Austin, we need to talk.

Philip: Damn you, Shawn.

Shawn D.: Are you really considering taking dad back?

Hope: I don't know. But what I do know is I hate seeing my son caught in the middle of this. Look, whatever happened or whatever happens between your dad and me, we're both your parents. I do not want you to feel ever that you have to take sides.

Shawn D.: I can't forgive him for --

Hope: Shawn, he's your father.

Shawn D.: And Zack was my brother. And I know a lot of people don't think that we were close because there was such a big age difference, but I think it was actually the opposite. Why that is, I don't know. Maybe it was because there was no sibling rivalry or something. But... because I was in Zack's life as an adult and I took care of him, it made me realize that I really wanted to be a dad, and now I'm going to be.

Hope: Yes, you are.

Shawn D.: It's a little weird that I'm gonna be a brother and a dad all at the same time, but I'm gonna be there for you, Mom, same way I was there for you with Zack.

Hope: I know you will be.

Shawn D.: Mimi and I have a good marriage, and I could never do to her what dad did to you. I won't break her heart.

Hope: So, instead you'll break your own heart?

Shawn D.: Belle and Philip, they -- they have a good marriage and a child. I would never forgive myself if I came in between that. And Philip and I have been friends forever. We're related. Claire is my Goddaughter.

Hope: I know, I know, honey. It's so much to think about. But you love Belle. And she loves you.

Shawn D.: And we're married to other people.

Hope: Hey, I'm not saying that you don't love Mimi and that Belle doesn't love Philip. But it is a different kind of love, and you know that in your heart. Honey, I don't want to see Mimi or Philip get hurt, but I certainly do not want my son going through life missing out on real love, real happiness.

Shawn D.: I know, Mom. But I tried to win Belle back, and I did some things I'm not necessarily proud of, but she chose to stay with Philip. And I chose to move on.

Hope: I don't think you did. Let me ask you this -- how did you feel right here in your heart when you heard there was a mix-up and Belle was having your baby?

Shawn D.: That...what I had always dreamed of was happening, but, Mom -- Mom, it's wrong. It's -- it's wrong.

Hope: True love can never be wrong, honey.

Shawn D.: I got to go. Mimi's waiting for me. We'll talk soon.

Hope: You know. You know we will. I love you, Shawn Brady, no matter what you decide to do.

Shawn D.: I love you, too, Mom.

Hope: I know.

Shawn D.: All right. [Sighs]

Belle: Shawn...

Patrick: Look, Shawn loves you, Mimi. He'll always be there for you, as long as you're honest with him.

Mimi: I know.

Patrick: All right. Well, I love you.

Mimi: I love you.

Patrick: Okay. Call me? Okay.

Shawn D.: What is it? Did something happen to the baby?

Belle: No, but I think my marriage is over.

Shawn D.: So, come on, tell me. What do you mean your marriage is over?

Belle: We just had a huge fight about the baby and about you. [Clears throat]

Shawn D.: Me?

Belle: Yeah. He said that I... was only having this baby because it was yours and that if the mix-up had happened with some stranger, that I would have agreed to terminate the pregnancy.

Shawn D.: Would you?

Belle: I told him that I love him, but that, that doesn't mean that I don't still care about you. I mean, we spent half our lives together. And then he said that I had to make a decision. I had to choose either him and Claire or you and the baby, and then he walked out. I know that he's my husband, and I know that he's Claire's father, but having this baby -- having your baby just feels right.

[Knock on door]

Patrick: Hope?

Hope: Patrick, what are you doing here?

Patrick: Oh, I was just checking on Jennifer and Jack, and a little bird told me you were here.

Hope: What is that? [Laughs]

Patrick: Hello, mom-to-be. I know I'm a little early, but I just wanted to let you know you have nothing to worry about. [High voice] I'm on the job.

Hope: That's very sweet of you, and I appreciate that. Thank you. And the baby thanks you.

Patrick: [Normal voice] I'm just doing my job.

Hope: Zack must have had 50 of these stuffed animals. Actually, he had just stopped playing with most of them. He said he wanted to give them to the children... to give them to the kids that weren't as lucky as him.

Patrick: I'm sorry, Hope.

Hope: Just bringing back so many memories.

Patrick: I know. I know, and I-I don't want to make this any harder for you. You know, if my presence in your life --

Hope: No, Patrick. This baby is yours. This baby needs you. And I need you. Thank God you're in our life.

Lucas: 10 minutes, 15 at the most.

Austin: Sounds serious.

Lucas: All right, thanks.

Carrie: It is.

Lucas: I got to go. I got to talk to Jerry about some remodeling and renovations and stuff. But don't worry. I'm not gonna make any decisions without your input. Okay? See you later.

Austin: See you, bud.

Lucas: All right, thanks again. I'll leave this open to air it out.

Carrie: [Sighs]

Austin: What do we have to talk about?

Carrie: I heard you.

Austin: Heard me what?

Carrie: Last night in the hospital. You thought that I was asleep, but I wasn’t. I heard you say that you still love me. I heard it all.

Sami: You're right. If I want this relationship to be different than all of the ones that have failed, I have to be different. I have to change, which means I have to tell Austin the truth.

E.J.: I'm very proud of you.

Sami: I just hope that he'll understand and be able to forgive me.

E.J.: I think he will. I would, if I were him.

Sami: You don't even know what I've done.

E.J.: It doesn't really matter. I know that for you to risk everything and tell him the truth, be totally honest with him, that shows how much you love him.

Sami: I do.

E.J.: Well, I think that he'll realize that.

Sami: I don't have a choice, E.J., because I do know for sure that if the person who's writing these notes tells Austin what happened, then I really will have no hope.

E.J.: Exactly, but at least this way, you're taking the power away from this person.

Chelsea: Do you really think I could be in trouble?

Max: Yeah, Chelsea, you could be in some huge trouble here.

Carrie: Do you really think it's a good idea for you to marry my sister if you're still in love with me?

E.J.: If I had the opportunity to be with a woman like you, I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

Shawn D.: Don't put yourself and your baby at risk -- our baby.
