Shawn D.: Hey. So, any news?
Philip: I called the foundation. They got in touch with your surrogate, and Lauren is on her way.
Shawn D.: Lauren? Hey, see, everything's cool.
Mimi: My God, it's really happening.
Belle: I know. I keep telling Mimi to relax, but I'm a little nervous.
Philip: It's the first time for us, too. I mean, if you get pregnant this way, though, it'll be worth it, right?
Dr. Jaynes: Good, you're all here. Unfortunately, I have some bad news.
Lucas: Wow. I am officially the luckiest man in the world.
Carrie: [Giggles] I'm pretty happy myself.
Lucas: Pretty happy? That's it?
Carrie: Mrs. Lucas Roberts has a nice ring to it.
Lucas: It sure does. [Knock on door] Oh, man, that better not be my mother. I told her to leave us alone, but you know her. She's got her own ideas about everything. I'll handle this. You know --
Lucas: I'm sorry. I kind of thought you were somebody else. Don't worry about it. It's fine.
Carrie: Is something wrong?
Maggie: Well, I hope not. This telegram just came for you, Carrie. And, I'm sorry, I don't mean to alarm you, but telegrams, they make my generation very nervous.
Lucas: Who's it from?
Carrie: Mike Horton.
Nick: What are you looking for?
Kayla: My little photo album.
Nick: Uh... I've got it.
Nick: Yeah, I took it out of your purse. I'm sorry. I just needed to look at those pictures of Stephanie again and of our wedding.
Kayla: Are you remembering something?
Roman: Well, nobody throws a party quite like you do, Kate, but then, everybody doesn't have your kind of money to throw around.
Kate: Well, you know me, Roman, I just like to see my children happy.
Roman: Yeah. I do know that. Well, I need a favor, Kate. You're not gonna like it, but I got to ask you anyway. Lucas has finally settled down with a woman that you approve of.
Kate: Ah, thank God.
Roman: But you've already told me that you're worried about Austin marrying Sami. Well, worry all you want. But please, do not interfere with my daughter's happiness again. Leave it alone, Kate. Leave Sami alone.
Sami: Oh, thanks.
Austin: Thank you.
Sami: Thank you. Can't wait for it to be our turn next, Austin.
Austin: [Laughs] Me too. We're gonna get it right this time. Cheers.
Sami: Hey, you know what? Let's do the special toast thing.
Caroline: Another Horton-Brady wedding. Isn't it wonderful? I can't think of another family I would rather be part of.
Alice: Me neither. Lucas and Carrie both deserve happiness. If only Bo and Hope could find their way back to each other.
Billie: I'm glad you're here. It's no fun being the dateless bridesmaid, and I'm sure that Will probably doesn't want to have to dance with his Aunt Billie all night long.
Bo: Yeah, better than being alone.
Billie: Oh, gee, thanks.
Bo: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way. It's good to have your company.
Billie: I know. It must be hard waiting to find out if Hope is carrying Patrick's baby or yours. Hey, how about this? How about you just relax and have fun for a few hours?
Bo: Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
Chelsea: So what's the Joshster up to tonight? You know, he would have been the perfect date to take to a family wedding -- clean-cut, All-American.
Abby: He would have come, but he had a family reunion.
Chelsea: And he likes family reunions -- perfect guy to bring home to mom.
Abby: Look, he's not that clean-cut, okay? Neither am I. I may not be in your league yet, but I'm not a total goody-two-shoes.
Chelsea: Abby, I like you just the way you are.
Abby: I don’t. I used to be fun. I used to have more fun.
Chelsea: Your dad's dying. I mean, it's kind of understandable.
Abby: I didn't even want to come to this stupid wedding at all, but my dad wanted me to. It's important for him to know that we're still doing all the normal things we'd be doing if he wasn’t.
Chelsea: Look, I'm really sorry that all of this is coming down on you right now. I wish that there was something I could do to make you feel better.
Abby: Yeah, so do I, but there's nothing. Wait, maybe there is something, something that will make me realize that there can be happy endings again.
Chelsea: What's that?
Abby: Give Max a chance.
Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives.
Philip: So what's the problem?
Dr. Jaynes: It's the holiday. So many of our usual staff are away at barbecues celebrating that I'm afraid we're looking at a slight delay in getting the embryo transfers under way.
Mimi: Okay, that's not a problem. We can deal with a delay.
Shawn D.: We're waiting for our surrogate, anyway.
Dr. Jaynes: All right, then. I'm stepping into a meeting. Please just have me paged when she arrives.
Shawn D.: Thank you. See, Dr. Jaynes says everything is gonna be fine.
Mimi: I don't know. I just -- I have a bad feeling.
Shawn D.: As long as we're together, everything is gonna be okay.
Dr. Jaynes: As soon as the Brady surrogate arrives, I want to get started with the embryo transfers.
Betty: Okay, I'll go ahead and set up the sterile instruments on each patient's tray. That way we'll be ready when the surrogate arrives. They must be very anxious.
Dr. Jaynes: And excited.
E.J.: Sami, Austin. Oh, I'm sorry.
Austin: No, no, that's okay. Good to see you.
Sami: It's nice to see you.
Austin: Did you enjoy the wedding?
E.J.: Yes, I had a lovely time. Your sister looked wonderful.
Sami: I thought so, too. All her dreams are coming true. She's marrying a great guy, and they're having a baby. I'm very happy for her. And for me -- us. Austin and I are gonna be planning our wedding next.
E.J.: And are you planning on having a long engagement?
Sami: Oh, no.
Austin: No, no.
E.J.: Well, I understand the sense of urgency for Lucas and Carrie. She's pregnant, so... but you're not pregnant, are you?
Sami: No. I mean, that's sort of a personal question, but I'm not. Not yet, anyway.
E.J.: Well, that's good. Then I feel a little more comfortable telling you that I don't think you need to be rushing into getting married.
Billie: Hey, hey, hey. I know how you feel about Patrick, but this is a wedding reception. Can you just let it go?
Bo: I'm not gonna do anything. I don't want to upset Hope.
Hope: Bo's here. We can leave if you'd like.
Patrick: Are you sure you want to run out on the wedding reception?
Hope: I want to support Lucas and Carrie. I just don't want there to be a scene.
Patrick: Don't worry. I understand.
Bo: Hello, Hope.
Lucas: You want to fill me in?
Carrie: "Carrie and Lucas, wish Rob and Jeremy and I could be with you today to share in your happiness. Love and friendship -- Mike."
Lucas: Mike. He was always so classy.
Maggie: That's our Mike.
Carrie: I wish they could have been here, too -- it's just, you know, with the family so big and everyone's so spread out all over the place.
Maggie: Right. Okay, look, I'm gonna leave you two for a little bit, but, you know, you have a room full of guests. Don't' be too long.
Carrie: Okay, we'll be right there.
Lucas: No, we won’t.
Carrie: We won't?
Lucas: No, not just yet. Right now, I want you all to myself.
Abby: Chelsea, what are you doing?
Chelsea: Abby, I already told him that we can't be exclusive. It's gonna take more than a soulful look to change my mind.
Abby: Look, for every girl who doesn't have a guy madly in love with her, could you please not blow it with Max?
Chelsea: Could you please stop guilting me?
Max: Um, you got a minute?
Abby: You know what? I'm gonna meet you guys inside.
Max: Thank you.
Chelsea: So, um, where's the beautiful Stephanie Johnson? I thought you were taking her to the reception.
Max: I was. I realized... she's not the one I wanted to be with.
Chelsea: Men. You guys are all so fickle.
Max: No, I'm not. I'm in love with you.
Kate: Why is it that it's so easy for you to believe that Sami's changed, but you can't believe that I've changed?
Roman: Because you are definitely not a woman who gives up.
Kate: I gave up on you.
Roman: That was mutual. Now let's get back to Sami. You are trying to make me buy the fact that you're gonna leave my daughter alone. You hate her.
Kate: Well, I can't change my feelings. I can only change my actions.
Roman: Well, nice try. But I think that you're gonna do anything and everything to make sure Austin doesn't marry Sami. So come on, Katie, fess up. I'm right, aren't I?
Nick: I'm sorry, Kayla. I'm sorry I keep trying to remember, and I keep making you think I'm remembering things. I'm not. I'm just trying not to forget. You know, I can meet somebody just yesterday and not remember them today. That's happened to me before. I'm trying not to forget Stephanie, that's all.
Kayla: Listen, Steve, I don't know how you feel about this, but maybe when Marlena and John come back to town, you might consider seeing her. She's a psychiatrist, and she's in the family. And, ironically, she had a memory-loss situation of her own. It's a long story, but anyway, I think she might be more equipped to help you than I am.
Nick: I went to a couple of shrinks at the hospital in Cincy. Nothing helped. But I guess one more won't hurt.
Nick: You know what's bizarre? The last thing you remember about me is the day I supposedly died. First thing I remember is waking up in that motel room. I don't know how I got there. I don't know where I'm from, who I am -- everything was wiped out.
Kayla: Oh, my God.
Betty: Sorry for the delay, but Dr. Jaynes is ready when you are.
Mimi: Our surrogate's still not here. What is going on?
Shawn D.: Honey, relax. She's probably just caught in traffic. There's a lot of traffic.
Belle: I'm ready, but Philip had to take a phone call, so I should probably wait for him to get back.
Betty: Just let me know when you're both ready.
Mimi: Thank you.
Belle: I just wonder what's taking him so long. I hope there's nothing wrong with Claire. Oh, hey, is Claire okay?
Philip: That call was not about Claire. It was the foundation calling me about your surrogate.
Shawn D.: Okay, just tell us, Phil.
Philip: She got into a car accident.
Sami: E.J., Wait a second.
Austin: Rushing in to getting married -- what are you talking about?
Sami: Yeah, I am very anxious to get married. In fact, I can't think about anything else.
E.J.: And that's exactly my point.
Austin: What is your point?
E.J.: Well, Reed and Company. You just took on a new client.
Sami: Yeah, you.
E.J.: And new clients, they like to think that they're your top priority..
Austin: Top priority. You mean, more important than us getting married? E.J., I don't see why we can't make you happy and get married at the same time.
E.J.: Austin, a wedding is gonna require a tremendous amount of time and attention. You're gonna have to get a church, a dress, a ring. You're gonna want to have a bachelor party. Sami, you're gonna need to have some kind of bridal shower. Then you're gonna have the wedding, a reception, you're gonna disappear off on a honeymoon. Guys, titan, Shawn, Max Brady -- they're gonna get a lead over us that we're never gonna be able to catch up. It's not acceptable. I'm sorry.
Sami: Come on, E.J., I think that --
E.J.: No. Look, the three of us, we have a product to launch here, and we need to invest all of our time and efforts into making sure that, that makes its mark.
Austin: Okay, I see your point.
Sami: Yeah, except for that we have Kate on our team. And I think that's why we brought her onto the account. She can handle it while we're on our honeymoon.
E.J.: Well, if that's the direction you're thinking, then this deal is a nonstarter.
Bo: I'd like to speak to my wife alone. You have a problem with that?
Patrick: Not unless Hope does.
Hope: No, it's fine.
Patrick: Okay. Thank you.
Billie: Must be rough waiting to find out if Hope's having your baby.
Patrick: It's roughest on Hope.
Billie: So if she is having your child, what are you gonna do about it?
Hope: This is a wedding reception, not the place to discuss the paternity of the baby.
Bo: I understand that. I just wanted you to know that however things turn out, I'll always love you.
Hope: Even if Patrick's the father?
Chelsea: So you dumped Stephanie to hang out at the reception with me? I guess I should be flattered?
Max: I didn't dump her. E.J. and I both invited her here, but she had some things to do. She said she'd see me later.
Chelsea: Huh. I'm not really used to being somebody's consolation prize.
Max: You're not. I came to the reception because of you. You believe me, don't you?
Chelsea: Yeah, actually, I do.
Kate: Sometimes I really hate that you know me so well. Yes, yes, that's true. I would love to break up Austin and Sami because, frankly, I don't think she could ever make him happy. However...
Kate: However, I have decided to throw in the towel. I mean, if he is determined to ruin his life, there is really nothing I can do about it at all. So I am conceding defeat.
Roman: So you're telling me that you're gonna stay off Sami's case, and you're gonna keep off Sami's case?
Kate: I am officially off the case. Although, privately, I still can't understand what he sees in her.
Roman: He loves her.
Kate: He does not love her. He doesn't love her. He always feels like he has to rescue her. That's always been the attraction between them. They're complete opposites. I mean, he is so level-headed, and she's all over the place. Not to mention the fact that she's absolutely truth-challenged.
Roman: Kate, come on. You know opposites attract. I mean, what did we have in common? And we had one hell of a connection.
Nick: Kayla, what is it?
Kayla: As incredible as this may sound, I think I might know who did this to you. Somebody staged your death and erased your memory.
Nick: Who could do a thing like that?
Kayla: A man named Stefano DiMera.
Mimi: Is she okay?
Philip: I don't know. I'm waiting to hear back. All I got was a voicemail saying Lauren had been in a car accident.
Shawn D.: Well, I mean, she's probably all right, right?
Philip: I don't know.
Mimi: I hope so.
Shawn D.: Honey, let's not worry, okay?
Betty: Mrs. Kiriakis, are you ready to go ahead now that your husband's back?
Mimi: Go ahead, Belle. Like Shawn said, we'll work this out. We'll figure out what's going on with her.
Belle: Are you sure? 'Cause we can wait.
Mimi: No, we'll be fine. Go ahead.
Belle: You want to come with?
Philip: Yeah, but I think I should try to get some more information. I'm gonna make another call. I'll be in there in a little bit. Go get them.
Mimi: Good luck... Mom. God, Shawn, what if something happened to our surrogate?
Shawn D.: You cannot blame yourself for something that we have no responsibility for. Let's just wait until we hear the story and we know what's going on for sure.
Austin: E.J., E.J., I understand your concern. I really do. But since we're being honest, we have a contract. But I don't want you to be unhappy, so Sami and I will devote all of our time and all of our energy on your account until the business launch, okay?
E.J.: Okay. I appreciate your understanding my concern. You understand that this is as much for your and Sami's benefit as it is for mine.
Austin: Yeah. Yeah. I think we need some drinks. What do you say?
Sami: Definitely. I'll have another. Thank you. Okay, so what was that really about?
E.J.: Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about.
Sami: Why are you so determined to postpone my wedding?
Bo: This baby -- I think this baby's mine.
Hope: And if it's not? You'll accept that?
Bo: I'll do anything I have to, to make sure I don't lose you.
Hope: I'm not trying to hurt you.
Austin: Whoa, hey, there's the beautiful bride. Look at you.
Carrie: You don't have to say that.
Austin: No, no, just telling the truth. You look happy.
Carrie: I am.
Austin: Good, you deserve to be with the man you love.
Carrie: Thank you.
Austin: There he is.
Lucas: Guess you're up next, huh, bro?
Lucas: Wedding, marriage, Sami, you know.
Austin: Right. Right.
Lucas: Yeah, I really hope you guys are as happy as we are.
Austin: You know what, bro? You guys are gonna have a great life.
Maggie: Attention, everyone. Gather 'round. You all know why we're here. The happy couple -- here they are. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Mr. and Mrs. Lucas and Carrie Roberts.
[Cheers and applause]
Lucas: This is it, Mrs. Roberts. Come on.
Took a chance roll the dice on me and you open up let you in my world like a dance started slow and then love took control swept away so proud to be your girl when you write a story much too fast sometimes a happy ending doesn't last now I know that love ain't meant to be a plaything now I know it's not an ordinary everyday thing
Kate: You know, I've never seen Lucas look so happy.
Roman: Reminds me of another happy couple I once knew not too long ago.
Kate: Oh, who's that?
Roman: That would be us.
Kate: Really? I barely remember.
Kate: No, it's true. I've taught myself to forget about that. It's really too painful to remember the past.
Roman: You know what, Kate? I just wish --
Kate: You wish what, that I could be your dream woman?
Roman: No, the woman I know you are inside, not the one who's always manipulating and running other people's lives, especially your children's.
Kate: I don't think it's a sin to put your children first.
Roman: That's a pretty nice spin on it. My take is that you think you know how to live their lives better than your kids do. Why don't you live your own life, Kate? Leave Sami and Austin alone. Be happy, for once. You are a very strong kind of woman, and I love that about you. But I also fell in love with a very sweet, kind woman who needed me. And I wonder if that woman's still in there somewhere.
Nick: Tell me something about this Stefano DiMera.
Kayla: The DiMeras were a crime family based in Europe, but they lived here in Salem for many years.
Nick: Past tense. What do you mean, they got busted?
Kayla: Well, yes and no. Stefano is dead, and Tony, his son, took over for several years, but now he's in prison.
Nick: So what were they doing here? This doesn't sound like the kind of place a crime family would want to hang out.
Kayla: Well, Stefano had this strange obsession with Marlena and Hope. In fact, he faked both their deaths and erased both their memories. He has a thing about my family -- all the Bradys’. Maybe because you're married to me, maybe that's why this happened to you.
Nick: Come on, Kayla. That's no explanation for why this guy would have anything to do with me.
Kayla: Well, I don't know who else could have or would have done something like this but Stefano. Maybe he felt that he could just keep us apart forever this way. But look at Hope. She got her memory back. So don't think that this is irreversible.
Nick: You've already tried everything you can to help me remember. Haven't you?
Kayla: No. I have one more idea. Come with me.
Billie: How did things go with Hope? Did you make any progress?
Bo: I don't know. I used to be able to tell exactly what she was thinking but... not anymore.
Patrick: Hey, if you want to leave, just say the word. I'll take you out of here.
Hope: You know what I like about you? You never put any pressure on me, even though it must be very stressful for you, too, not knowing the paternity of the baby.
Patrick: Well, I figure I'll know soon enough. In the meantime, you don't need any more stress. It's not good for you or the baby, no matter who the daddy is.
E.J.: This is not about your wedding.
Sami: It's not?
E.J.: No, of course not. I'll be the first person to wish you and Austin happiness when you get married, but right now, I just need you to focus. I need you to be the businesswoman that I know you can be.
Sami: And where do you think my focus belongs, exactly? On you?
E.J.: Does your husband know that you flirt with other guys?
Sami: He's not my husband yet. I'm asking a serious question here, E.J..
E.J.: And I'll give you a serious answer. The reason I said I'd work with Reed and Company had nothing to do with Austin or his mother.
E.J.: Hey, Austin.
Austin: Listen, you smooth talker, do you mind if I dance with my bride-to-be?
Sami: I would love to.
E.J.: Be my guest.
Shawn D.: Honey, honey, be strong, okay? You're, like, the strongest woman that I know. That's why I married you. That's why I wanted to have kids with you. You're gonna be a great role model for our daughter one day. You're gonna be a woman that our son can compare all other women to when that is appropriate.
Mimi: Okay, honey, slow down. You practically have us having grandchildren.
Shawn D.: That's true. That's not for, like, 20 or 30 years. But that's what I want one day with you -- that life.
Mimi: I love you. And you're right. No matter what happens, we will deal with it together.
Dr. Jaynes: Good news. Your surrogate has arrived.
Mimi: Is she okay?
Dr. Jaynes: Oh, yeah. That phone call worried you needlessly. It was just a minor fender bender. She hopped on a bus, and she's all set to go.
Mimi: Oh, my God. This is amazing. Can I meet her? I want to thank her.
Dr. Jaynes: Oh, definitely. But let's do it after the procedure. Good luck.
Mimi: Thank you. You were right. I don't know why I don't listen to you more. I just always flip out about everything.
Shawn D.: Hey, I understand. And by the way, we're not gonna need luck. It's all about faith and love.
Belle: That is such great news about Shawn and Mimi's surrogate.
Philip: It's all working out the way it should.
For you, I will for you, I will
Maggie: Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. Oh, I'm not gonna cry again, but they do make a beautiful couple, don't they? Okay, I'll get back to the business at hand. Ladies and gentlemen, Lucas and Carrie would like for you all to join them on the dance floor. Please.
Max: See, this is what I like about the reception.
Chelsea: You like dancing?
Max: I like holding you close like this.
Chelsea: Max, listen, you're really, really great.
Max: I hear a "but" in there somewhere.
Chelsea: But I'm just not ready to commit to anyone.
Max: It makes sense.
Chelsea: You mean you understand?
Max: Sure. You're a young, beautiful girl who wants to see what's out there. But I want to make something very clear. I'm not just gonna wait around for you. I -- you're the one I want to be with more than anyone, but if you can't have the one you love, et cetera, et cetera.
Chelsea: No, yeah, we're totally clear.
Chelsea: I'm going out later.
Max: Later tonight?
Max: With who?
Chelsea: Just some friends.
Max: Okay. [Cellphone rings] Oh, sorry. Hello? Hi. Hi. No, no, I'm not really doing anything. All right, I'll see you later. Okay, bye. Uh, thank you for the dance, Chelsea. I'll see you around.
Billie: Hey, if I promise not to step on your toes, will you dance with me?
Bo: Yeah, sure, why not?
Billie: Might make you feel better.
Bo: Yeah, right.
Hope: Would you mind if we left?
Patrick: Not at all. You're the whole reason I'm here. Let's go.
Austin: Sorry about E.J. and all of that business talk.
Sami: Well, that's okay. He's a very important client for us. I don't mind postponing the wedding for a little bit. I'm a big girl. I can handle it.
Austin: Wow. I wasn't expecting that. Are you sure?
Sami: Of course I'm sure, Austin.
Lucas: Excuse me. We're cutting in.
Austin: Both of you.
Carrie: That's right. Is that okay?
Sami: Of course. I never imagined that I'd be dancing at your wedding. I mean, to my sister, anyway.
Lucas: Yeah, me, neither. But I meant what I said before. Obviously you've changed a lot. I'm proud of you.
Lucas: Your life's heading in a whole new direction. No one could be happier about that than me.
Carrie: I feel so lucky.
Austin: Wow, I didn't know I was such a great dancer.
Carrie: What I meant was I'm glad that you're still in my life, even though I married your brother.
Austin: I'm always gonna be here for you, Carrie.
E.J.: Kate. Can I take you for a spin on the dance floor?
Kate: That's very sweet of you, but I'm just not in the mood.
E.J.: Let me guess. Sami and Austin are not exactly your favorite couple..
Kate: Now, they're not the ones who got married today, E.J.
E.J.: And if you have your way, they will never be.
Kate: What would ever give you that idea?
E.J.: Come on, it's not exactly a big secret you're not Sami Brady's biggest fan. My question to you is why? You care to share your information with me? If I'm about to start working with her, shouldn't I know everything about her?
Kate: Not tonight, E.J. My son got married today. I'd like to end the evening on a positive note. Good night.
Nick: So what are we doing in here?
Kayla: Well, so far we're just talking. I was kind of hoping we could change that, if you're interested.
E.J.: If you don't tie the knot soon enough, somebody else just might jump in there.
Chelsea: Sami, what do you want?
Sami: I have a proposition for you.
Kayla: Somehow you were brought back to me, and I want you. And I think that you want me.
Jennifer: You've given us hope that Jack might survive. Oh, my gosh.
