Bonnie: Patrick.

Billie: Bo is in there with her right now, and if he finds you here, he's gonna go ballistic.

Patrick: Yeah, which means she's gonna need me.

Hope: So Dr. Ross said that the ultrasound will be able to tell us just how far along I am, and then we'll all be able to... figure out whether you're the father or if Patrick is.

Bo: There is no doubt in my mind. I am the father, and I can prove it.

Sami: Oh, my God. That's it. This bouquet is perfect. This is exactly the one that I want to carry when I marry Austin. My wedding is gonna be perfect.

Austin: With this ring, I thee wed.

Sami: What was that about?

[Door opens]

Sami: Hey. Lucas, what are you doing here?

Lucas: What do you think I'm doing? I'm moving in.

Sami: What do you mean? Did you change your mind about marrying Carrie?

Carrie: [Sighs] I'm really getting married tomorrow.

Lucas: With this ring, I thee wed.

Carrie: Am I making a mistake? Do I really love Lucas?

Austin: Do you?

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives.

Carrie: Austin, what are you doing here?

Austin: I just came up to hit the bag around and work out. You're having second thoughts about getting married. You can't talk to me? I mean, we're friends, right?

Carrie: I know, but you still have feelings for me.

Austin: Yeah, but you chose Lucas. I've made my peace with that. Hell, I'm gonna be his best man. You're not sure... are you? If you weren't pregnant with his baby, would you still be marrying him?

Lucas: Of course I didn't change my mind about marrying Carrie. I love her, and she loves me. We're having a baby.

Sami: Of course, how could I forget? So why did you say you're moving in here?

Lucas: I was joking, all right? It was just a joke. I'm getting married tomorrow. I can't sleep with Carrie tonight. I could go to a hotel, but Austin offered, you know, I stay here. And I said, "yeah." That's okay, right?

Sami: Of course. Why wouldn't it be?

Lucas: I don't know. You're kind of acting weird. What's going on?

Sami: Nothing. You should put your stuff in Will's room. And hang up your tuxedo. You don't want to be wrinkled for your big day.

Lucas: Yeah, you're right. I guess I don’t. Look, I thought we were getting along better. You know, I apologized for accusing you and thinking you were plotting something, and here you are hiding things from me again.

Sami: How about you not accuse me of something you don't know anything about?

Lucas: I think I know what's going on here. A part of you doesn't want me to marry Carrie.

Sami: [Scoffs]

Lucas: No, wait. I'm right, aren't I? Aren't I?

Belle: Philip, what do you mean that we may have a problem?

Philip: What I mean is the problem -- I know Dr. Jaynes is the best in his field, but even he can't change the fact that I have low sperm motility. And the in vitro might not work, just like the old-fashioned way didn't work, which means that Claire is not going to have a little brother or sister in nine months or maybe ever.

Belle: Do you remember when Claire was sick, and you kept telling me to stay positive?

Philip: Yeah, I remember that.

Belle: Yeah, well, this is the same thing. Philip, we got pregnant once before. We're gonna get pregnant again.

Philip: You're right.

Mimi: [Thinking] But you and Philip didn't get pregnant. You and Shawn did.

Belle: And besides, Dr. Jaynes told us that he's got all these procedures that can pinpoint each little sperm and egg. We're gonna be fine.

Mimi: Did the nurse know anything?

Shawn D.: No, of course not. This waiting sucks.

Mimi: Yeah, it does.

Shawn D.: What do you say we go over to the nursery and check out the babies?

Mimi: I don't know, Shawn.

Shawn D.: No, come on. It'd be good for inspiration.

Mimi: But what if it doesn't work? What if we can't really have a baby?

Shawn D.: It will.

Mimi: What if it winds up breaking us up?

Shawn D.: You're still upset about last night, aren't you?

Mimi: It's not really that.

Shawn D.: Look, I need to know that you're 100% committed into bringing this baby into this world, and I also need to know that you know I love you.

Mimi: I do. I love you so much.

Shawn D.: Okay, then everything's going to be fine. As long as we keep communicating with each other, we're gonna be together forever. We're in this till death do us part, unlike my parents. So come on, let's go.

Mimi: Oh, I need my purse.

Hope: What do you mean, you have proof that you're the father? Even the doctors don't know.

Bo: I don't give a damn what the doctors say, Hope. This pregnancy, it's a sign that good things can happen between us again. Now, obviously a child is not gonna replace Zack in our hearts, but I think this baby is a gift from Zack.

Hope: It's a lovely thought.

Bo: Yeah, and he is trying to tell us that we belong together.

Hope: And if it turns out to be Patrick's? Is it Zack's way of saying that we shouldn't be together?

Bo: This baby is mine. I know it. Trust me.

Hope: I wish I could trust you. I don't know if I can ever trust you again about anything. Even if the baby is yours, Bo -- I don't know. I don't know if things can work out between us.

Bo: What are you talking about? Things were starting to work out between us again.

Hope: And then we found out that I was pregnant. The way you reacted when Patrick might be the father, you're never gonna forgive me for sleeping with him, are you?

Bo: That was about him, not about you.

Hope: But it happened. And you're never gonna look at me the same way, just like I'm never gonna look at you the same way, for so many reasons. And Billie's just one of them. You had a child with her. When Chelsea came into our lives, you never once considered how our lives were turned upside down. You never thought that I tried hard enough. Well, I did try hard. I tried very hard, and look how that turned out. If Patrick is the father... how are you gonna deal with it? Are you still gonna want to work things through?

Billie: So how sure are you that you're the father?

Patrick: Look, Hope and I were together once, but I know she hasn't been with Bo for months, so if he's the father, wouldn't she -- she would have known she was pregnant way before now.

Billie: Not necessarily. You sound like you want this baby to be yours.

Patrick: It doesn't matter what I want.

Billie: Yeah, it does matter what you want because if you are the father of Hope's baby, what are you gonna do about it?

Bonnie: Congratulations, Patrick. I am so happy for you. And me, too. Oh, my little boy is gonna be a daddy.

Patrick: Mom.

Bonnie: And I'm gonna be a grandma -- a very young grandma. God, almost maybe twice this year. And then you're gonna marry Hope and live happily ever after in the Horton family.

Patrick: Mom?

Bonnie: Oh, that's two down.

Patrick: Mom, that's enough. I am not marrying anybody.

Bonnie: Oh, but you will. Like I've always taught you, you've got to go for the gold, sweetheart.

Patrick: Mom, look, we don't even know if I'm the father of the baby. It could be Bo's.

Shawn D.: Oh, my God. My mother is pregnant?

Carrie: Lucas and I were engaged way before I found out I was pregnant.

Austin: You wouldn't be getting married this soon.

Carrie: No, but --

Austin: Carrie, you already told me you felt like you were rushing into this because of the baby. I just heard you say you weren't sure if you love him.

Carrie: I am sure that I love him, Austin, the same way that you love Sami. I just want to make sure that I love him enough to be the wife that he deserves. And you know what? I do.

Austin: But what if one day --

Carrie: Austin, what if the sky falls down? What if I win the lottery? What if someone better comes along? Don't you see? You can't play the "what if" game your whole life. It's time to move on.

Austin: Hey, I just want you to be happy, you know?

Carrie: I'm having a baby. I'm starting a family. It's what I've always wanted.

Austin: Yeah.

Carrie: Look, Austin, I've made a commitment to Lucas. He's made one to me. You understand. You've moved on with Sami.

Austin: I don't make my promises lightly, and neither do you. Well... but, still... this is not a wedding ring. And if you are not sure, it is better to end it now than to wind up divorced later.

Carrie: What is going on here? Are you trying to help me through my last-minute nerves or are you telling me that you don't want me to marry Lucas?

Sami: Gee, Lucas, since when did you care what I think about anything?

Lucas: What kind of answer is that?

Sami: You've made it clear that you're in love with Carrie and you're happy to be marrying her. And I am thrilled to be marrying Austin, so I'm happy for both of us -- for all of us. 'Cause you're not having second thoughts, right?

Lucas: No. No, it is great for all of us -- you moving on with Austin, and I'm moving on with Carrie. And we're all gonna be friends.

Sami: Yeah. Yeah. I think that's what's best for us -- for Will, too.

Lucas: It's just weird. ironic. All those years I... wanted you to become the woman you are now. And now that you are, now that I am... it's just weird that we're both marrying other people.

Sami: Yeah, it's crazy how life works out. Sort of an unfair question, but out of curiosity, if Austin and Carrie hadn't shown up when they did back in town, do you think we would have gotten back together?

Philip: I know Dr. Jaynes was positive this would work, but the Kiriakis Foundation does underwrite most of his research, so it is in his interest to be positive.

Belle: No, it's in his interest to be honest. Philip, no doctor is gonna give you false hope for no reason, even to his biggest funders.

Philip: I guess not, but it's not like it was ever a 100% sure thing. What if this doesn't work?

Belle: Then we have plenty of time to discuss our other options.

Philip: You're right. I love you so much.

Belle: Oh, come here. Dr. Jaynes, hi. Is there any news?

Shawn D.: My mother's pregnant? Is this why she fainted last night?

Bonnie: I'm gonna be a grandma. And that makes you an auntie, sweetie.

Patrick: Mom, we don't know that yet. That's the reason Hope's here, to try to figure out if I'm the father or if your dad is.

Shawn D.: I can't believe this is happening.

Patrick: Look, I know you're angry right now.

Shawn D.: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I am angry, but not at you. You were there for my mother when she needed someone. I just wish she would have, um... but it's my father's fault. My mother would not have been on that island if it hadn't been for what he did.

Mimi: Shawn, this is between your parents and Patrick. Are you sure you want to get in the middle of it?

Shawn D.: I am already in the middle of this. My father is responsible for letting my brother's killer go free. He destroyed his relationship with my mother. He destroyed our family. I just want to make sure that he does not use this baby to manipulate his way back into our lives. Where are they?

Patrick: I think you should give them some time alone.

Shawn D.: No! I don’t. Just tell me -- you know what? I'll just talk to the nurse.

Mimi: I should -- I should probably go with him.

Patrick: Whoa, Mimi, just let him work this out on his own.

Billie: This isn't good.

Bonnie: Depends on where you're sitting. Come here, guys. Listen, you two keep playing your cards right and the Lockhart family may finally break its losing streak. Once you have Shawn's baby and Hope has yours, we are all going to hit the Horton Jackpot.

Hope: Whatever happens or doesn't happen between us, please just promise me that you won't do anything that we'll all regret.

Bo: I don't have to promise, Fancy Face, 'cause this baby is mine.

Hope: We don't know that.

Bo: Well, I do. This pregnancy is telling us that we're meant to be together.

Shawn D.: The hell you are.

Hope: Shawn.

Shawn D.: No matter whose baby this is, after what you did to us, you are gonna stay out of mom's life.

Lucas: Look, Carrie and I love each other, all right? We're getting married. We're gonna start a family. I can't even begin to think about what would have happened if we'd played things out differently. I can't think that way, Sami, and neither can you.

Sami: But, Lucas --

Lucas: There is no "but." Listen to me, I belong with Carrie. I do. We're gonna be happy. And you, you're gonna have the same thing with Austin, if you don't do anything to screw it up.

Sami: Gee, thanks for the confidence.

Lucas: I'm just saying both of us have a major history of backsliding, especially you. I don't think that'd be good for you right now.

Sami: Thanks, 'cause I'm touched.

Lucas: I'm serious. You got a real chance to be happy. You know, you... you and Austin got a good thing, as long as you don't do anything to ruin it. I'm gonna go, uh, put my stuff in Will's room, all right?

Sami: I've already done something that could ruin it -- not just my future with Austin, but yours with Carrie.

Austin: I'm not asking you to do anything you don't want to do. I know you take your commitment to Lucas seriously, and I take mine to Sami seriously. But when I came up here and I overheard you asking yourself whether you've made the right decision --

Carrie: Austin, it was just pre-wedding nerves.

Austin: It didn't look like that to me. I mean, so if you're thinking about changing your mind --

Carrie: I'm not! I love Lucas. We're having a baby. And tomorrow, I'm -- we are getting married. End of discussion.

Austin: No. No. When you were deciding on who you were gonna spend your future with, me or Lucas, you know, I was begging you to choose me. I told you how much I loved you, how I've always loved you.

Carrie: Austin, please.

Austin: Carrie, you were -- you are the great love of my life, and I know that once upon a time, I was yours.

Carrie: Austin, I know we are on the roof, but why are we up here?

Austin: Just a little farther. Just have a little patience. Come on. Now open your eyes.

Carrie: Oh, whoa. The sky is beautiful.

Austin: So are you.

Austin: Happy New Year. I love you.

Carrie: I love you, too, and I want this new year to bring us closer.

Austin: It already has.

Carrie: Come on, you still haven't answered my question.

Austin: You don't know how I feel about you? You need to hear it? I love you. I've never stopped loving you. The question is, do you still feel the same way about me?

Carrie: I do, very much.

Austin: Then what do you say that we take things... a little further?

Carrie: I was hoping you'd say that.

Austin: Come here.

Carrie: I remember. I mean, I'll never forget. Those times were special to me, too. But like I said, we can't go back. I'm marrying Lucas. You're marrying Sami.

Austin: But I still love you. And I only turned to Sami because you chose Lucas. I mean, it's not like I don't love Sami. I mean, I do, but not like I love you. Baby or no baby, if you feel like you're making a mistake, it is not too late to change your mind. Because, you know, when you walk down that aisle, Carrie, and you take those vows, I mean, that's for life, man. Or should be.

Carrie: I know.

Austin: And if you're not sure -- damn it, if you're not sure about this, you owe it to yourself, you owe it to me, you know, and, frankly, you owe it to Lucas to tell me how you honestly feel about me.

Bo: That's enough, Shawn.

Shawn D.: I'm not gonna let you use mom's pregnancy into manipulating her.

Bo: You don't have a say whether she forgives me or not.

Shawn D.: You don't deserve her forgiveness. Are you all right? Listen, you cannot possibly take him back, not after all --

Hope: Shawn, please, not now.

Shawn D.: Just tell me something. This baby, is it Patrick's?

Bo: We won't know till the ultrasound. And you really want that loser to be the father?

Shawn D.: At least he was there for her.

Hope: Shawn, Bo. Please, can I just have a minute with Shawn alone? I want to talk to him.

Billie: You okay?

Bo: No. My wife may be having another man's baby, and my son would actually prefer that, that loser be the father.

Billie: He's just angry.

Bo: That boy doesn't know angry.

Patrick: This isn't about hitting the Horton Jackpot, Mom, it's about people's lives. There's no way I'm gonna take advantage of what Hope's going through. I only want what's best for her.

Mimi: Yeah, and I love Shawn. And I would still love him, even if his family had less money than ours.

Bonnie: Bite your tongue. Haven't you two learned anything from me?

Mimi: Yeah, we learned that as much as you scheme and plot, our family still has nothing.

Patrick: Yeah, exactly. I'm gonna go see what's going on with Hope's ultrasound.

Bonnie: So you think I always wind up with nothing? Are you and your brothers nothing?

Mimi: No. I'm sorry. I just still feel like I'm with Shawn under false pretenses. I'm lying to him -- my husband, my best friend. I hate it. And if he ever finds out that Claire is really his, he would leave me for Belle so fast.

Bonnie: Shh, shh, shh. That's not gonna happen 'cause you and Shawn are gonna have a baby of your very own. And once that happens, you're gonna have a stronger hold on him than Belle ever could. Stronger because you're wearing his wedding ring. He chose you, sweetheart, for life. Oh, did they do the ultrasound?

Patrick: No, not yet.

Bonnie: Well, once they do, we will have just one more tie to the Horton fortune... I mean family.

Belle: So did you do the in vitro fertilization?

Dr. Jaynes: Not yet, but in preparation, we've done some tests on your sperm.

Philip: And?

Dr. Jaynes: And although there is low motility, I'm feeling very confident that we're going to be successful.

Philip: Really?

Dr. Jaynes: I can't promise, but I've done a lot of these.

Philip: All right.

Belle: Thank you.

Dr. Jaynes: I'll keep you posted.

Belle: See? I told you, you just had to stay positive.

Dr. Jaynes: So are we all set to fertilize the Brady and Kiriakis eggs?

Nurse: Everything's about ready.

Dr. Jaynes: Good. Just be sure that you keep Brady with Brady and Kiriakis with Kiriakis.

Nurse: We've never had a mix-up yet.

Dr. Jaynes: No, and I don't want to start now, not with the man whose family is funding all of our research.

Belle: I just can't believe this. We're gonna have another baby, Philip.

Philip: It looks that way. You ready to be pregnant again? Cravings, morning sickness, labor -- you ready?

Belle: Absolutely, yes.

Philip: All right.

Belle: And you know what? If this procedure works once, it'll probably work again, so we can actually have that big family you keep talking about.

Philip: If you want it, too.

Belle: I told you I do.

Philip: I love you so much. Being married to you, having kids with you -- everything I've been through, it's made it worth it. The war, the leg -- I wouldn't change a thing 'cause it's led me here with you.

Billie: Bo, you can't blame yourself. You were in an impossible situation having to choose between protecting your daughter and being honest with your wife.

Bo: The craziest thing is every time Hope and I start to make some progress, something happens and everything turns to crap. I lost Zack and Shawn. If this baby turns out to be somebody else's, then I could lose Hope, too.

Billie: What if it's yours?

Bo: Then she and I may have a chance.

Billie: Well, then, that's what you have to keep focused on.

Bo: Yeah.

Billie: Bo, I want you to be happy. And I know... that Hope is the one that you love.

Patrick: God, I wish they'd do this test already. Not knowing who the father is has got to be killing Hope.

Bonnie: Well, my money's still on you, sweetheart.

Patrick: Mom, I told you we were together once.

Bonnie: Trust me, Lockhart men are famous for being one-shot wonders.

Mimi: Well, whatever happens, I hope Shawn can handle it.

Hope: Shawn, I know how angry you are with your dad.

Shawn D.: Aren't you?

Hope: You can't keep fighting with him like this. You need to find a way to make peace, to forgive him.

Shawn D.: Why?

Hope: Because he is your father, and families don't do this to themselves. Honey, it's wrong.

Shawn D.: Mom, just tell me something. Are you thinking about forgiving him?

Dr. Ross: Hope? We've got to talk.

Nurse: Don't worry, Dr. Jaynes. I won't jeopardize your funding. I'll triple-check the labels.

Dr. Jaynes: Thank you.

Philip: I'll tell you what, as soon as this is over, we're gonna go out and celebrate the conception of our second child.

Belle: That is a deal.

Philip: And since you are not technically pregnant quite yet, we can both have champagne.

Belle: Oh, well, I guess there are advantages to conceiving this way.

Philip: Not quite as fun as the traditional way, though.

Belle: Oh, but after a little champagne, we can still have some fun.

Philip: I like the way you think, Mrs. Kiriakis.

Belle: I just hope Shawn and Mimi are able to have their baby. They want one so badly.

Mimi: [Thinking] But Shawn already has a baby -- Claire. Just none of you know it.

Bo: Dr. Ross, the nurse said you had news.

Dr. Ross: Unfortunately, it's not good.

Hope: Is there something wrong with the baby?

Dr. Ross: No, with the ultrasound machine. It's malfunctioning. And with the holidays, we're not gonna be able to get it fixed until after the 4th. We're gonna have to reschedule your test. I'm sorry.

Bonnie: I will lay you 4 to 1 that when that test comes back, it'll show that Patrick is the father of Hope's baby.

Billie: No. If it is, it'll be the end of her marriage.

Bonnie: So why so glum? If Hope is with Patrick, that will leave Bo open for you.

Billie: That is not how I want this to work out.

Bonnie: Oh, come on. We both know you're hot for him. Plus, he's heir to a big chunk of that Kiriakis money. Piece of advice -- when you get your shot, you go for it.

Hope: There's got to be another machine somewhere in this hospital.

Dr. Ross: Nothing that's available to us right now. I'm really sorry. Look, I'll call you. Try to have a happy 4th.

Hope: Thanks. I don't believe this. Patrick... could you walk me to my car, please?

Patrick: Yeah.

Shawn D.: She made her choice, Dad, just like you made yours.

Billie: Are you okay?

Bo: I love her.

Billie: I know you do.

Bo: And that baby is mine.

Billie: What if it isn't?

Bo: She's my wife. She will not end up with him.

Billie: What are you planning on doing?

Bo: Whatever it takes to get rid of that son of a bitch.

Sami: Voice mail. Look, Lexie, it's Sami. You have to call me back as soon as possible. We have to talk before Carrie and Lucas' wedding.

Lucas: Who are you so desperate to talk to before the wedding?

Sami: My hairdressers.

Lucas: Your what?

Sami: My hairdresser. God, it's just Margie and Gary's Hair Salon is so booked up, and I made an appointment to go before your wedding 'cause I want my hair to look nice. I know you think I'm superstitious, but I think having good hair will be a good omen.

Lucas: I don't think you need to worry about your hair. You and Austin have a great future, if you want it.

Sami: Of course I do.

Lucas: Good. It's all up to you. I got to go. I got some things I got to take care of.

Sami: It's not up to me, Lucas. It's up to Lexie. And I am not gonna let that bitch ruin my entire life.

Carrie: It doesn't matter how I feel about you, Austin.

Austin: But if you're having second thoughts --

Carrie: We can never be together.

Austin: Why not?

Lexie: In my work-up on you, I did some genetic testing and discovered something disturbing. You and Austin share a genetic marker that could be problematic.

Carrie: Meaning?

Lexie: Meaning if you have a child together, there's a high probability that he or she might have a genetic syndrome causing severe birth defects that could even be life-threatening.

Carrie: Oh, my God. Wait a minute. When did you test Austin? Why did you?

Lexie: Well, Austin was tested when he was engaged to marry Sami. I pulled his file as a precaution, knowing the decision that you were about to make, and that's when I noticed the genetic markers.

Carrie: Austin and Lucas are brothers, and Will's fine.

Lexie: But they have different fathers, Carrie. It's very complicated. Honey, I know this isn't what you want to hear, and of course you would love your child, healthy or not. Carrie, from a medical point of view, Austin is the last man you should conceive a child with. I'm so sorry.

Austin: What do you mean, it doesn't matter how you feel about me? How can you even say that to me? Why can't we be together? You need to tell me the truth. You owe me that much.

Carrie: You're right. I do.

Kate: So the two of you are hiding something.

Kayla: Steve, you remember!

Max: What the hell is your problem?

Chelsea: I'm young, and I want to have fun.

Max: You can have all the fun you want from now on.

Frankie: I'd do anything for you and your family.

Jennifer: I don't know what I would do without you. I mean that. I mean it.
