Lucas: What are you talking about? This is out. It's the roof, right? It's out. It counts.
Sami: You know what I meant -- a restaurant, dinner.
Carrie: It's dark up here.
Lucas: Yes, it is, my pregnant one. That's why I'm holding on to your arm.
Austin: Well, I don't smell a barbecue or anything cooking.
Lucas: Yeah, you're right. I didn't really have time for that, you know? Give me a break. It's not every day a man finds out he's gonna be a father again. Plus, I wanted to do something special for Carrie.
Carrie: I hope you didn't go to too much trouble.
Lucas: I did, actually, but it's all right. You're worth it. You deserve it. So with that said [Clears throat] Let there be light.
Lucas: Not bad, huh?
Carrie: Oh! It's beautiful, Lucas.
Sami: Yeah, Lucas, it really is beautiful. You never did anything for me like that.
Bo: We've decided not to tell Hope about the change in the trial date.
Frankie: Bo, I know it's your decision, and I promised myself I wouldn't say anything...but you're making a huge mistake.
Caroline: Oh, hello, Frankie.
Frankie: Hey, Mom.
Caroline: What's the matter? Is it Jennifer?
Frankie: No. Bo.
Frankie: I usually love my job. I like helping people. But right now...defending my client to the best of my abilities means...hurting someone I care about.
Caroline: You mean because you're the defense attorney for Chelsea?
Frankie: And because I'm her attorney, I-I am legally bound to sit back and watch my brother make the biggest mistake of his life.
Bo: Oh, Fancy Face... I hate keeping things from you. I hate everything about this. I'd do anything to make things different. [Footsteps] Hope! Hope, are you --
Marlena: No, John! No, no, no! Don't you dare hurt my husband! Stop.
John: He's not your husband. But if you don't listen to me, he's gonna be your killer.
John: Now, whose side are you on -- the good guys or Alex?
Marlena: He is not a bad guy. He's my husband. You're the one behaving like a monster.
Alex: Marlena... [Exhales sharply] Marlena, would you help me out of here, please?
Marlena: Excuse us. Come on. Come on.
Alex: Thanks, sweetheart.
Patrick: I'm warning you, John. Stay away from Alex.
Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives.
Caroline: What kind of mistake is Bo gonna make?
Frankie: [Sighs] Look, since this is directly related to my defense of Chelsea, I'm -- I'm not at liberty to say. Mom, I'm sorry, but what I can tell you is there's a lot of information that I would like to disclose. It would make a huge difference.
Frankie: I've considered quitting, but I'd still be legally bound, so...
Caroline: Oh! Oh, this has got to be so sticky for you. Lord, you work for Mickey, and you're defending Chelsea in a manslaughter case, and Mickey is representing Hope in the divorce.
Frankie: But they're two separate issues.
Caroline: They are related. Hope is furious with Bo for not telling the truth about Chelsea being the driver that killed Zack, and that's why she's filing for divorce. She's gonna testify against Chelsea, isn't she?
Frankie: She's planning to.
Caroline: Well, see? What I mean is a judge and jury listening to the testimony of a grieving mother's gonna make your job a lot harder, isn't it?
Frankie: I never thought I'd say this, but I hate my job. I just want to do the right thing, and right now, legally and morally, those are two -- two different things.
Caroline: Frankie, there are always dark moments, you know, in the work we choose. Every day is not a ray of sunshine. Come on. You love your work, don't you?
Frankie: Yes. It's complicated. I mean, I've defended murderers that I knew were guilty, but it was my job, and I believed they deserved the best defense I could give them, but it's never been this personal for me before -- never.
Frankie: I see people I care about getting hurt, and I'm the one hurting them.
Caroline: No, Frankie. Don't be hard on yourself. Bottom line -- you got to do what's best for your client.
Frankie: Even if it destroys Bo and Hope's chances of getting back together?
Bo: I saw Hope's purse. I thought she'd come home.
Jennifer: That was my purse.
Bo: What are you doing here?
Jennifer: I left you a message that I was gonna come. Didn't Hope tell you?
Bo: Tell me what?
Jennifer: Bo, she wanted me to clean out Zack's room. She wants to donate everything to the Horton Foundation.
Bo: No! You're not taking Zack's stuff anywhere!
Jennifer: I'm sorry. I-I don't mean to sound insensitive, but Hope said --
Bo: I don't give a damn what she said. My soon-to-be ex-wife seems to forget that she's not the only one grieving. Zack's my son, too.
Lucas: Now, for obvious reasons, alcohol will not be served tonight.
Austin: Fine with me.
Lucas: But I will be pouring a beautiful, full-bodied, finely aged sparkling water -- Salem's finest.
Carrie: Oh. [Chuckles]
Lucas: Pardon me. Oh, thank you.
Lucas: Now I'll propose a little toast. To Carrie. When I met you years ago -- many years ago -- I-I fell in love with you. Even though we haven't gotten together till now....part of my heart has always been with you. I've always been honored to call you a friend. And now to be able to stand here -- words can't describe how I feel to have our friendship turn into love. I am honored to bring a baby into this world with you. So to my wife-to-be and my beautiful baby-to-be.
Austin: I wish you both the best.
Lucas: Thank you.
Carrie: Thank you, Austin and Sami.
[Slow music plays]
Lucas: Would you, uh, like to dance?
Carrie: You sure?
Carrie: That was beautiful, Lucas. Thanks.
Austin: Sami, shall we?
Sami: [Chuckles] Okay. [Laughs]
Carrie: Oh, I hate to admit it, but I'm -- I'm getting used to you constantly spoiling me.
Lucas: If you think I'm spoiling you now, wait till I have a chance to spoil you and a beautiful child.
Sami: Are you okay?
Austin: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?
Sami: Come on. It's certainly a shock to find out that Carrie and Lucas are gonna have a baby.
Austin: Yeah. It is. And I would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous.
And I'm mesmerized I found...
Marlena: Alex, I'm so sorry that John attacked you again.
Alex: And I'm so sorry that he followed us here.
Marlena: You know what? We won't let him spoil the honeymoon. We'll just go to some other island.
Alex: It's a very sweet idea, but you know very well it won't do any good. He's ISA. He'd find us. Besides, I'm not about to leave here just because John Black keeps following us around. No. I think it's time I took a stand and showed him exactly who Alex North is.
Patrick: Let's go, John. I don't think you're wanted here.
John: If you don't want to lose your hand, you will get it off of me.
Patrick: I'm not trying to hurt you, John. I'm trying to warn you. The only reason the casino bosses haven't dragged your ass out of here by now is because I waived them off. See, this island isn't the place you walk around publicly announcing you're going to kill someone. The authorities here don't care who you are, how much money you have, where you're from, or who you work for. They will lock you up for a long, long time.
John: Why should I listen to you? For all I know, you're working with him.
Patrick: What are you talking about -- working for him? He and Marlena just got in. They were shocked to see us, as we were to see them.
John: Maybe Hope and Marlena were shocked, but you two -- I don't buy it for a second it's a coincidence that you're here together. He recruited you to help him, didn't he?
Patrick: And help him do what, exactly? I am done with you. I am ready to have security pull you out of here, kicking and screaming.
Hope: John, don't do this, all right? Patrick knows more about this island than anyone, and he's one of the good guys.
John: What you don't know is the Salem P.D. has issued a "be on the lookout" for Lockhart. He is wanted for murder and extortion.
Hope: He is innocent.
John: You know that for a fact? Perhaps I should just call Bo and tell him where you are right now.
Hope: No, you will not do that. I won't let you.
Caroline: Frankie. Frankie. You've got such a good heart. Don't upset yourself this way. I don't know if you could help Bo and Hope, even if you were able to intercede, you know? I tried to help, and, let me tell you, Hope let me know in no uncertain terms, "don't meddle." So I think the best we can do is not interfere and let Hope and Bo work out their own problems on their own. Well, I got to get back to decorating.
Frankie: Decorating? Yeah, what's going on? What are you celebrating?
Caroline: Well, it's Victor Kiriakis' birthday, and I'm throwing him a party.
Frankie: You're throwing V-Victor a party?
Frankie: Does pop know about this?
Shawn: Well, actually, son, it was my idea.
Dr. Butler: How's our patient doing today?
Nurse: He's been sleeping since we ran that last batch of tests.
Dr. Butler: It's a miracle this guy's still alive. EMS brought him in. I didn't think he'd make it through the night, especially considering this diagnosis he's been living with all these months.
Nurse: I wonder why he's been living in a hotel. He's obviously a fighter if he's made it this long. It sure seems like he's got something to fight for. Look what he's holding.
Dr. Butler: She's beautiful. Well, if I was this guy, I'd fight for her, too.
Jennifer: I'm sorry. I know how much you're grieving over Zack. Hope asked me to do this.
Bo: No, don't apologize. I... I-I'm sorry. I don't mean to take my frustration out on you. It's just that, uh, I haven't been in Zack's room. Seeing this stuff -- it, uh... it just kind of reminds me of what I've lost. It's -- and the life I'll never have back... especially now that Hope has moved on with Lockhart. You knew she was with that bastard, didn't you?
Jennifer: I-I knew that, but there's nothing going on between them. Hope said they're just friends, Bo.
Bo: Yeah, right -- "just friends." Let me update you on that, Jen. She's sleeping with him.
Bo: Yeah. Uh, mom helped me find Hope's phone number, and I called her.
Jennifer: She must have been shocked to hear your voice.
Bo: Actually, I was the one who was shocked, because Lockhart answered the phone.
Jennifer: Okay, but you talked to Hope, right? You spoke with her?
Bo: Yeah. And I tried to warn her about that bastard, but, as usual, she started defending him, and... that's when I asked her if she'd been sleeping with him. [Exhales sharply]
[Glass shatters] How could she do this?
Jennifer: I don't know. I mean, maybe -- maybe she thought since you moved on with Billie, that she could just move on with whoever she likes.
Bo: What? How -- how did you know?
Jennifer: I just know, okay? I'm gonna bring this stuff up to Zack's room.
Bo: No, no. No. Don't worry about it. I'll take care of it. I'll pack up the rest of Zack's stuff and take it down to the foundation.
Jennifer: I can do it if you don't want...
Bo: No, it's fine. I'll take care of it.
Jennifer: Okay. Well, I'm gonna go, then. Bye. [Smooches] [Door closes]
Bo: [Inhales, exhales deeply] Oh, my God.
[Romantic music plays]
Lucas: [Exhales deeply] So, how's the mother-to-be feeling?
Carrie: Pretty good.
Lucas: Yeah? No more nausea? No more nothing?
Carrie: Not at the moment.
Lucas: Good. Listen, I know we talked about starting a family, but things are happening so fast. It's just kind of a surprise.
Carrie: Yeah, although I don't know why it should be. I didn't do anything to avoid getting pregnant. I just thought that it would take a little longer with my age and everything.
Lucas: Yeah, well, I'm sorry that we had to change the wedding plans.
Carrie: It doesn't matter. It's about the marriage, not the wedding. Marriage and family -- that's all I ever wanted, you know?
Lucas: Except you wanted to marry Austin.
Carrie: I gave up that dream a long time ago, Lucas, when I got divorced, you know? And when I came back to Salem, yeah, for a little bit I thought that maybe things would work out for the two of us, but it's not meant to be. You're so good to me -- better than I deserve.
Lucas: Yeah? Why would you say that?
Carrie: I just haven't handled the situation very well. I should have made up my mind a long time ago.
Lucas: That's okay. I understand why it was a tough time for you. You and Austin -- you guys have a lot of history together.
Carrie: Good and bad. I just -- I want to make sure that you know I'm happy the way things turned out, and I know how lucky I am. You are a great father to will, and you're gonna be a wonderful husband to me. And I'm so thrilled to be having a baby with you.
Lucas: Thank you. Ditto.
Carrie: [Chuckles] [Cellphone chiming]
Lucas: Whoa, that's me. I changed my ring tone just for you.
Carrie: Oh! Like I said, I'm getting used to you spoiling me.
Lucas: That's nothing. You just wait. This is just the beginning. Hello? Oh, yeah, yeah. I was hoping it was you. Yeah, I'll be right down. Great. Thank you. All right. The food's here. I'll be right back. Food's here, all right?!
Austin: You need any help?
Lucas: No. No, I'm fine. You guys stay. Enjoy yourselves. [Smooches]
Sami: Well, I can understand why you'd be jealous.
Austin: Well, it's got nothing to do with Lucas and Carrie's relationship.
Sami: Come on.
Austin: All right. Yeah. Maybe a little, you know? But all I'm jealous about is the kid part. I've been lucky enough to travel around the world. I've had amazing jobs with amazing perks, and I've had a wonderful life -- a wonderful dull life. But something's always been missing. The reason why I decided to stay in Salem was because I realized this is where I wanted to start a business, I want to settle down, I want to raise a family. You know how much that's always meant to me.
Sami: Yeah, I do, and it hasn't been easy. You married Carrie, and she left you. You thought Will was your child, and I --
Austin: Donít. Donít. Donít. The reason why I was so willing to believe that Will was my son is because I just wanted it so badly.
Sami: And even after everything I put you through, you still have hope, you still want to do it again.
Austin: The only thing I ever wanted to be was the father that I never had. I want my kids to grow up in a family with two parents, for them to know that they are always loved.
Sami: I know how you feel. Believe me.
Austin: Things may be -- they didn't work out between me and Carrie, but I got a second chance to make it right this time, and I can't wait to do everything from, you know, change diapers and teach my kid to ride a bike and coach t-ball -- corny stuff.
Sami: That's not corny. It's great. I guess all you're missing is the right woman to share your life with.
Carrie: May I cut in?
Sami: Of course.
Hope: Patrick, could I please have a moment alone with John?
Patrick: I donít want --
Hope: Patrick, please.
Patrick: All right. But remember, John, I'm watching you.
John: Stay away from him, Hope. He's dangerous.
Hope: I am not interested in what you or Bo have to say about Patrick. The point is, I know him. In fact, the two of us have gotten rather close.
John: [Groans] Hope, come on. Don't tell me the two of you are together.
Hope: Patrick has helped me through a very difficult time in my life, and he has been nothing but a complete gentleman. Yeah, I know. A lot of men in Salem have had issues with him, but he's always come through for me and for Jennifer. And must I remind you? It was Patrick who saved us on Tony's island.
John: [Sighs] You know, Hope, you and I go way back. And normally I-I trust your instincts. But there's something about Lockhart -- something I just donít like.
Marlena: Hmm. Hmm. [Giggling] Oh. What -- what did you say this was called?
Alex: It's a Morgan Island Mai Tai. I understand you only need to drink one.
Marlena: [Giggling] Oh, goodness.
Alex: Listen, you go easy on that, okay? I'll be right back.
Marlena: Darling, are you okay?
Alex: Oh, yes, I'm fine. I'll be right back.
Patrick: You're right about John Black. The sooner we take care of him, the better.
Nurse: The test results are in.
Dr. Butler: [Sighs] Hmm.
Dr. Butler: My initial diagnosis was correct.
Nurse: So there's no cure?
Dr. Butler: Not yet. There have been no controlled studies because it's such a rare disorder, but I did read a journal article last week. There's a new protocol. It may be able to help.
Nurse: I guess he's very lucky he happened to find himself in this hospital.
Dr. Butler: Well, I donít know about that, but if there's a chance to give this man his life back, I'd sure as hell would like to try.
Frankie: I donít believe it, Pop. Throwing Victor a party was your idea?
Shawn: You bet it was.
Shawn: Oh. Because, see, if it weren't for Victor, my lovely wife -- your mom -- she might not be here today. So, can you join us for the party, Frankie?
Frankie: Pop, I'd love to, but I have plans with Jennifer.
Jennifer: Hello, everyone.
Caroline: Oh, hi.
Jennifer: Look at this place. What's with all the balloons and streamers?
Shawn: Well, it's a birthday party for Victor Kiriakis.
Jennifer: Oh. Okay. Hi.
Frankie: Hi. Okay, so, are you ready?
Jennifer: Yeah, I'm ready whenever you are.
Caroline: I'm so glad to see you two spending time together.
Shawn: Yeah. If you can stick around for the party for a few minutes, that'd be nice, huh?
Caroline: We have to keep on decorating and get the banner and the balloons.
Shawn: Oh, we better do that.
Frankie: All right. Are you okay?
Jennifer: Yeah. I just wanted to talk to you about something really important.
Jennifer: It's about our future.
Bo: Hey! Where you been?
Hope: I stopped by the mall to pick up pictures of Zack, and then I stopped by to see your parents.
Bo: Oh, yeah? I was gonna stop by there after my shift. How was their trip to Ireland?
Hope: They had an incredible time. You should see the pictures they took.. I have to show you something. Wait till you see -- close your eyes. I want to surprise you.
Bo: Closed. Okay.
Hope: Look what your parents brought back for Zack. It's a little leprechaun doll.
Bo: A little -- isn't that about the cutest --
Hope: It is cute.
Bo: The thought that counts.
Hope: It's the thought that counts.
Bo: That was nice of you to stop by and see my folks.
Hope: I love your folks. Besides, I thought they might want to see the pictures of Zack.
Bo: Well, nothing. Just I'm the luckiest guy in the world, and I love you very much -- you and your leprechaun.
Hope: Me and my leprechaun. I married a leprechaun.
Bo: Oh, come, my darling.
Austin: I'm surprised you cut in. I'm actually surprised that you wanted to celebrate with us at all. I wouldn't blame you if you avoided me for the rest of your life.
Carrie: Austin, I told you I-I want us to be friends -- hopefully forever.
Austin: Hey, you know, I'm sorry for pressuring you all that time.
Carrie: I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry, too, if I led you on.
Austin: Yeah. I'm just glad you're happy. I know how badly you want to have kids -- just as much as I did.
Lexie: Carrie, from a medical point of view, Austin is the last man you should conceive a child with. I'm so sorry.
Carrie: I know how much you want to have kids, too, and you were a great father to will. And finding out that Lucas was really his father -- I remember how much that hurt you.
Austin: Yeah. Yeah, it feels like it's happening all over again.
Carrie: I know. I'm sorry. Just please know that I want you to be happy, and I know that you will be -- maybe sooner than you think.
Lucas: Here we go. Food's here.
Sami: Here. Here. Let me help you.
Lucas: Thank you.
Sami: Um, look, uh, Lucas, I just want you to know...I'm really happy for you and Carrie -- your baby. I really mean that. Um, it's weird, isn't it? If things had been different, it would have been you and me having a baby right now -- if Kate hadn't done what she did to us.
Lucas: Why are you telling me this now? I mean, what are you saying?
Sami: Nothing. Nothing. I just -- I can't wait to have a kid again myself.
Lucas: Well, good. You know, you're a wonderful mother, and I'm glad that you and will are working your problems out -- that he's gonna spend part time with you.
Lucas: Yeah, really. You know, maybe it'll give you a chance to find love with Austin -- maybe children, marriage.
Carrie: Wow. Lucas, this looks great.
Lucas: Well, here. Sit.
Sami: Yeah, it looks delicious. Salad.
Sami: Let's sit and eat.
Lucas: Everyone, take a seat, enjoy.
Austin: Yeah, thanks for this, Lucas.
Lucas: No problem.
Austin: Before we start, I'd like to talk to Sami about something in private.
Hope: John, believe me, I understand why you're suspicious of Patrick. But I've been on this island for a while with him, and I've learned more and more about him. Yes, he's a pretty private person, but, I'm telling you, he has a good heart.
John: Well, Hope, I'd like to believe you, but the jury's out on Lockhart. But I do know that Bo would be going ballistic if he knew that you were with him.
Hope: He already knows.
John: Oh, he does?
Hope: Yeah. He called, and Patrick answered the phone.
John: Well, that's strange. You see, I've been spending a lot of time with Bo, and he never said a word about it. In fact, all he's been doing is trying to track down Patrick Lockhart.
Hope: He's a hypocrite. He has absolutely no reason to try to build a case against Patrick just because I'm with him, especially since I know for a fact that he is back together with Billie.
John: I donít know what you're talking about. I've been spending time with Bo. He never mentioned anything about seeing Billie. I donít know why he would. He's been trying to get ahold of you for a reconciliation.
Hope: Well, that's funny because he told me he wanted a divorce.
John: Oh, come on, Hope. After what the two of you had --
Hope: "Had"? "Had." That's the key word. After Zack's death... Bo made a choice to stand by Billie and Chelsea, not by me. So any hope I had of ever getting back together with Bo -- it's gone.
John: I'm sorry.
Hope: Don't be. Look, all I ask is that you leave Patrick alone. What you need to do right now is figure out a way to get Marlena away from Alex and take her home with you.
John: I intend to do just that... but I may need your help.
Alex: My plan worked. Now that John has attacked me in public, when I'm ready to kill him, it'll look like self-defense.
Patrick: Why are you going through all this trouble? Why Donít you take Marlena and take off in the middle of the night?
Alex: Because that would only be a temporary fix. He'd eventually find me, and I wouldn't be able to have a life with Marlena.
Patrick: What if Marlena does get her memory back? Are you afraid she might want to go back to John if he were still alive?
Alex: Of course not.
Patrick: 'Cause Hope says that John and Marlena were incredibly happily married.
Alex: Hope has no idea how happily married Marlena and I were.
Patrick: Neither does Marlena.
Alex: Are you forgetting who you're working for?
Patrick: Of course not. I just want to understand your plan so I can carry it out to the best of my abilities. I do have to admit I'm a little confused, though. First, Marlena doesn't remember her life with you. Then she doesn't remember her life after you. Hell, she can't remember a conversation she had earlier today. Her condition seems to be getting worse, not better.
Alex: Hysterical amnesia is very unpredictable and difficult to treat.
Patrick: Obviously. But I thought hysterical amnesia was caused by some kind of severe trauma. So something must have happened to Marlena all those years ago when she was with you for that to happen... right? So I got to ask, what was it?
Sami: Austin, what's wrong?
Austin: Nothing, nothing. I just wanted to ask you something.
Austin: You know I was talking about kids, about raising a family in Salem?
Austin: Well, before Carrie cut in --
Sami: I was telling you that I think the only thing you're missing is the right woman to share your life with.
Austin: Right. Right. That's why I wanted to ask you something in private.
Sami: Oh, my God, Austin. Are you asking me to marry you?
Bo: I was the luckiest man in the world. How did this happen to my family?
Hope: Do you really think this is going to work?
John: It has to. I'll protect Marlena even if it means I have to die.
Alex: You're right, Patrick. I did cause Marlena's hysterical amnesia. I didn't mean to hurt her, but she pushed me to do it.
Patrick: So it wasn't that she thought you died a tragic death? You abused her. That's why she doesn't want to remember you.
Alex: All you need to know is I came to Salem a changed man. And now that I have her back, I intend to get John Black out of our lives once and for all.
Patrick: So, where do I come in?
Alex: All right. Here's what you have to do.
Frankie: Sit down.
Frankie: Okay. Our future -- what about it?
Jennifer: Uh, I'm not exactly happy with how our relationship is going.
Frankie: So, then, what do you want to do about it?
Jennifer: I think that we should take the next logical step. Frankie, you know -- you know that Jack was the first man that I was ever with. And when we were in high school -- when we were dating -- we waited. I Donít take making love to someone very casually -- not at all.
Frankie: I know. Neither do I.
Jennifer: So I donít want to be just lovers. I want to be husband and wife.
Frankie: Wh -- come here.
Nurse: Dr. Butler, is this patient in any shape for an experimental procedure?
Dr. Butler: It's the only chance he's got. [Door opens, closes]
Shawn D.: That's why we are gonna be at your trial every single day, and we are going to send you to jail for as long as the law will allow.
Austin: We have to talk.
Sami: My favorite four words.
Carrie: I wish everyone could be this happy.
John: It's okay.
Marlena: What did you do?
John: It's okay.
Hope: Do you know something about Alex that you're not telling me?
