Austin: [Grunts] [Grunting] Oh, boy.
Sami: Wow, Austin, you've been working out so hard, you need a cool drink.
Austin: Actually, I'm not finished yet.
Sami: What do you mean? I've been watching you. You've already done your biceps and your triceps and your pecs and your abs. What's left?
Austin: [Grunts] Oh, boy.
Sami: [Thinking] We could be so great together, Austin. All I have to do is make you forget about Carrie...and I will, starting tonight.
Lucas: Carrie, will you marry me?
Austin: You were surprised. You didn't know what to say, you know? Hey, you know what? That's Lucas for you, right? He's an impatient guy, always rushing things. I could tell you were really uncomfortable. That's why I came looking for you to see if you're okay.
Carrie: Thank you.
Austin: For what?
Carrie: Just...being you.
[Knock on door]
Carrie: [Clears throat] Kate, hi.
Kate: Hi, oh, I'm sorry. I don't want to bother you.
Carrie: Oh, not at all. It's nice to see you. Come in.
Kate: I mean, I know it's late, but I was just in the neighborhood and I thought I'd stop in and see Lucas.
Carrie: Oh, he's not here right now. He's working late at Titan, closing a big business deal.
Kate: Really? Oh, that's great. I'm so glad to hear that. Okay, well, then, just let him know I came by and... [Laughing] Oh, my God. Wow. Is this what I think it is? Is this an engagement ring?
Carrie: It is. Lucas asked me to marry him.
Frankie: Are you sure? We can wait.
Jennifer: No. I'm sure. I don't want to wait. I want you to make love to me.
Billie: There's no way this is over. You two will patch things up. It'll be okay. You know you and Hope never stay apart for very long.
Bo: I want to believe you. I can't lose her. She means everything to me.
Billie: You're not gonna lose her. Yes, she is upset, and she is angry about what happened, but there is no way she'll go through with this divorce.
Bo: How come I haven't heard from her? She must have gotten my e-mail by now.
Billie: I don't know. Maybe she doesn't have convenient internet access where she is. Heck, maybe she hasn't even gotten it yet. But trust me, when she reads those beautiful words that you wrote, she'll call you.
Bo: I hope you're right because we got to talk and not just by e-mail. We have to talk in person. That's the only way we can save our marriage.
Hope: I don't believe it. I still can't believe that bo agreed to the divorce just like that.
Patrick: I can't believe it, either. It doesn't make any sense.
Hope: I thought he'd fight for me, Patrick. Or at the very least put up a good argument to try to talk me into changing my mind, but instead...he's just letting me go.
Patrick: Hope, look, listen to me. I am sure Bo was very upset when he got your e-mail, just like you were when you wrote it. You blind sided the guy. He wrote back what he did because one, he was upset. Two, he wasn't thinking clearly, and three, and most importantly, he genuinely believes that a divorce is what you really want. So, look, you need to call him and talk to him. Before things get any crazier, just do it, Hope. Don't wait, do it now.
Billie: Bo, what you and Hope have is very special. Hope knows that, too.. Love like that doesn't come around every day. Believe me, I know. But she's gonna come around, okay? She is gonna come around, especially after she reads that e-mail and realizes just how much she means to you, how much you mean to each other.
Kate: So, you intercepted Hope's e-mails to Bo. Ooh, she did ask him for a divorce, didn't she?
Chelsea: Yep. Right after she read this article that I sent her from The Chronicle. [Sighs] God, she hates me so much, I just pushed her right over the edge.
Kate: Yeah, well, if she did act in haste, it's gonna be too late to take it back now, isn't it?
Chelsea: Yep, thanks to the e-mail I sent her from Bo's account. As far as Hope knows, Bo happily agreed to the divorce.
Kate: Well, you've heard of the telephone. If Bo and Hope do talk, they could get back together again. They could also figure out that someone's been sabotaging their e-mail. This whole thing might come back and bite you on the derriere.
Chelsea: Kate's right. No matter what happens, there is absolutely no way that Hope and Bo can talk.
Bo: It's Hope. Hey, Fancy Face. I'm so glad you called.
Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives.
Chelsea: [Thinking] My God. It's Hope. If she talks to Bo long enough, eventually they'll figure out what I did. I've got to stop this right now, but how? Okay. It might be crazy, but, God, please let this work.
Bo: Hope, are you there? Say something.
Hope: Yeah, Bo, I'm here.
Bo: Oh. It's, uh...it's really good to hear your voice. Are you okay? Did -- did you get my e-mail about your wanting a divorce?
Hope: Yeah, I did. That's why I'm calling. We really need to talk, Bo.
Chelsea: Sorry, dad, but I really don't have a choice.
Kate: You can't be serious. Lucas asked you to marry him already?
Carrie: I was surprised, too. I didn't accept.
Lucas: If you continue to push Carrie into Austin's arms, you will never see your grandson again.
Kate: You wouldn't do that.
Lucas: I would. Do you remember what happened last time? When you broke up me and Sami? This time, Mom, it'll be permanent.
Kate: Lucas, you --
Lucas: And I'll tell you another thing. If you succeed, if Carrie and Austin are together...I'll dedicate the rest of my life to wrecking revenge on him, and that will be on your conscience.
Kate: Wow. I'm assuming you turned down Lucas' proposal because he's not the right man for you.
Carrie: No. I just don't know if I'm ready to take that big of a step with him. It really is too soon.
Kate: Hmm, because of your feelings for Austin.
Carrie: That's part of it. But the main reason is because I'm at a point in my life where I really want to start a family. It's very important to me, so when and if I do get married again, I want to make sure that it's the right choice. I want it to last. But most of all, I want any child I may be able to have to be conceived out of love.
Austin: [Exhales sharply]
Sami: You want me to lie down on top of you?
Austin: Yeah, I need you to help me get back into shape. Push-ups count almost quadruple with resistance.
Sami: So I'm the resistance?
Austin: Do you mind?
Sami: No, of course not, Austin.
Austin: Okay, good.
Sami: Are you sure your doctor's not gonna be mad?
Austin: Well, we'll...start slow and...work on to more strenuous activity. Come on, climb aboard.
Sami: Okay. [Clears throat] Just lie down, huh?
Austin: Just lie down.
Sami: Okay. [Chuckles]
Austin: There you go.
Sami: All right, I'm ready. Hey, am I hurting you?
Sami: Are you sure?
Sami: What? Oh, so now you're ticklish, huh?
Austin: I'm not gonna tell you. I have 10 more reps to go.
Sami: Oh, yeah? Well, I know from a very reliable source how ticklish you are! Right there in the -- aah! Oh! [Laughs]
Sami: Austin, I just finished making some ice tea. Would you like some?
Austin: [Sighs] Yes, I'd love it. Thank you so much. Thank you.
Sami: You're welcome.
Austin: Mmm. Wow. You look good. You going out?
Sami: That depends on you.
Sami: I thought maybe you'd like to go to doom with me, get a drink or something. What do you say?
Austin: Oh, that's -- yeah, that sounds great, but I canít. I got to finish my workout, and then I have this huge stack of reports that I have to go over. Nicole needs them for this upcoming...investors' meeting out in L.A. I have to have them ready.
Sami: Come on, Austin. You can do that work tomorrow morning, and how much more working out do you have to do? You've been at it for an hour. What's left?
Austin: Cardio. I'm gonna go down to the basement and get my boxing gloves, head up to the roof. Then...I really do -- I've got to get to work.
Sami: Austin, I'm not gonna let you go.
Frankie: I brought, um...I brought a CD with me, and I think you might enjoy it. Mind if I put it on?
Jennifer: No, no, what is it?
Frankie: You'll see. [Intro to Ben E. King's "Stand By Me" plays]
Jennifer: Hey, I know that song. [Chuckles] That's our song.
Frankie: Brings back memories, doesn't it?
Jennifer: Yeah, it does. Wonderful memories.
And the moon is the only light we'll see no, I won't be afraid oh, I won't be afraid just as long as you stand, stand by me so, darling, darling, stand by me oh, stand by me oh, stand stand by me stand by me
Jennifer: This is the best prom I could ever have.
If the sky that we look upon...
Jennifer: I'm never gonna forget it.
...Should tumble and fall or the mountains should crumble to the sea I won't cry I won't cry no, I won't shed a tear
Frankie: It seems like a million years ago, doesn't it?
...Stand by me
Frankie: Our prom, dancing to this song.
Jennifer: Yeah. And then sometimes it feels like it was only yesterday.
Oh, stand now stand by me stand by me
Bo: I'm glad you got my e-mail, and I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. I just -- I wanted to say everything I needed to say.
Hope: So you really gave it some thought.
Bo: Well, yeah. I gave it a lot of thought, and I know sometimes things aren't really clear in an e-mail, so I hope you understand how I feel.
Hope: Can you hold on a second?
Patrick: Hope, what is it? What's wrong?
Hope: It's really happening. He meant what he said.
Patrick: You mean Bo really wants a divorce?
Bo: Hope? Where -- where are you? Are you okay?
Billie: Bo, what happened? Is she still there?
Bo: She asked me to hold.
Billie: Okay, all right, listen, when she gets back on the line, you tell her that under no circumstances do you want this divorce. Tell her how much you love her, how much you want to work things out with her. Everything you said to her in that letter you say it again. Understand?
Bo: Yeah, I will. I'll say it to her over and over again till she believes me. Hope?
Patrick: Hey, do you want to call him back, talk to him later?
Hope: No. If he wants to end it...if he really wants to end over 20 years together, I need to know now. Are you there, Brady?
Bo: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. We need to talk.
Hope: Yeah, I think that's a good idea. I think it's time that we got everything on the table.
Chelsea: Oh, God. I know this is crazy. I just hope I'm not too late. And I really hope I cut the right wire. Aah!
Billie: What was that? I'll go check it out.
Hope: Bo, what's going on? Is that Billie I heard? Is she there? [Door closes]
Bo: Yeah, Hope, she is.
Kate: What are you saying? I mean, I'm confused. Do you just not want to rush into things, or are you saying that Lucas isn't the man for you? Because if you're just gonna be stringing them along --
Carrie: No. Kate...I really do hope that Lucas is the one for me. But after everything that happened with Mike and then Austin taking over my company, I'm gun-shy, okay? The one thing I don't want is another failed marriage. I came from a broken house myself, and...I haven't forgotten how difficult it was to basically lose one of my parents when my mom and dad broke up. I don't want that for my child.
Kate: I know, I do. I understand that.
Carrie: I just want to be absolutely sure that I've made the right choice.
Kate: And you're having difficulty making that choice because you still have feelings for Austin. Is that what you're telling me?
Austin: Why are you gung ho about going out all of a sudden?
Sami: I don't know. I'm just lonely, I guess.
Austin: This is about Lucas, isn't it?
Sami: Lucas? No. Why would you even bring him up?
Austin: Come on, Sami. I was there, remember? Watching him propose to Carrie -- that really upset you.
Sami: It upset you, too. That's why you're so gung ho about working out right now and working hard, so you're doing everything you can to forget about her.
Austin: Yeah, I'm not gonna hide it. I'm not lying. It killed me watching my brother propose to the woman that I love, yeah. I thought Carrie and I -- I thought we really were gonna make it this time. I thought we'd be getting married...having kids.
Sami: Well, I thought Lucas and I were gonna make it. I thought we'd really be together, that this time it -- it doesn't matter, because if I hadn't accepted before that Lucas and I were finished, I have now.
Austin: Same for me with Carrie. But even if I have accepted it...I don't think I'm ever gonna get over losing her.
Sami: Never say never. Maybe you and I could...help each other forget.
Frankie: I love you.
Chelsea: Okay. So now I know what wire not to cut, but better dead than in prison.
Billie: Hello? Hello, is anybody there?
Hope: Bo, I'm sorry. I can't talk to you anymore. If Billie's there, I have nothing more to say.
Bo: Well, hold on. It's not what you think. She just came by to discuss Chelsea's defense. Look, she's not here right now. She left. Hope?
Hope: I have to go. I can't talk anymore.
Bo: Don't -- please don't hang up. I don't want to leave things like this.
Hope: I told you, I have to go.
Bo: Just do me this favor. Will you reread my e-mail? I want you to understand how I feel.
Hope: Oh, I think I understand very well. Don't worry, okay? I'll have Uncle Mickey contact you about start-- starting the divorce proceedings right away.
Billie: Hello? Hey! Is anybody out there? I guess not.
Chelsea: Oh, God. I just hope I'm not too late.
Bo: Hope, listen, about this divorce --
Hope: Uncle Mickey will call you. [Click]
Bo: Hope? Are you the-- damn it, what --
Patrick: What happened?
Hope: He hung up on me.
Patrick: What, what?
Hope: After I told him Uncle Mickey would call him about the divorce, he hung up.
Bo: Damn it. She hung up on me.
Billie: What happened? What did she say?
Bo: I've lost her. I've lost her for good.
Billie: No. No, no, it can't be. Did she read your e-mail?
Bo: Yeah, she said she did, but, obviously, it didn't make a difference 'cause she still wants a divorce.
Patrick: Bo must have been pretty angry, I mean, to hang up on you.
Hope: No. I think he's just already moved on.
Patrick: What are you talking about "moved on"?
Hope: Billie was there... in our house. Bo and I are finished, Patrick.
Carrie: Like I said, I do still have feelings for Austin, but I've chosen to be with Lucas...who I also have feelings for. I just want to be completely sure that I've made the right choice before I, hopefully, take that permanent step.
Kate: To be honest, I think either one of my sons would be lucky to have you. But whatever happens, just don't lead them on. Don't leave them hanging. Commit to someone, find some happiness. Okay, now I really do need to get going. So just tell Lucas I stopped by to say hi.
Carrie: I will.
Kate: I hope you find your happiness. I hope you find...what you really want.
Carrie: I hope so, too. Nice to see you.
Kate: Yes. Take care.
Carrie: I do love you, Lucas. [Sighs] But I also love Austin. Think I always will. Maybe I made the wrong choice. I know what I have to do. Dear Lucas...
Austin: Oh, no. No, no, no. We can't do this. We can't do this. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Sami. This is not right. It's not right.
Sami: Oh, come on. Yes, it is. People do it all the time. You know, we just had our hearts broken. We need this.
Austin: No, that's just it. We donít. This is the last thing that we need. We're on the rebound. We acting on impulse. A bad impulse. We're friends. We're co-workers. I don't want anything to screw that up, okay?
Sami: You know, it's not like we haven't had sex before, not like we're crossing over into uncharted territory.
Austin: Things have changed between us, and you know that. They've changed a lot, okay? We don't have that type of relationship anymore, but what we do have is very important to me. It's very important to me, and I don't want to ruin it, okay? I'm sorry. It's not you. It's me. I'm sorry. I got carried away, you know, and it shouldn't have happened. I won't let it happen again, you know? I promise. I'm gonna go get my boxing gloves, and then I'm gonna finish my workout. Are you gonna be okay?
Sami: Yeah. Go do your cardio. I don't care what you say, Austin. I'm not gonna let anything or anyone stop me from getting you back.
Kate: I wonder how things are working out with Chelsea. I wonder if she kept Bo and Hope from talking. I would love to see Bo and Billie get back together again. Then the only thing I'd have left to worry about is keeping Sami away from Austin.
Sami: Interfere with my life again...and you are dead.
Lucas: I couldn't imagine a more perfect woman to have a child with than you.
Lucas: I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have blurted that out like that. But I know that this is our first date and everyone tells me, "Lucas, you can't talk like this to a woman on your first date. It's not right." But you know what? I don't care. The hell with being cautious. It's not like we just met. I love you, Carrie Brady.
Austin: You got my note.
Carrie: I cannot believe that you did this.
Austin: Well, I just wanted us to celebrate the New Year's like we used to, like old times.
Carrie: It's beautiful. I was just remembering all the wonderful nights that we had up here. Those were some of my happiest memories.
Austin: Well... that's the way I want us to be. I want us to be happy again.
Carrie: Come on, you still haven't answered my question.
Austin: You don't know how I feel about you? You need to hear it? I love you. I've never stopped loving you. The question is, do you still feel the same way about me?
Carrie: I do...very much.
Austin: Then what do you say that we take things...a little further?
Carrie: [Sighs] I was hoping you'd say that.
Austin: Come here.
Carrie: Next time I fall in love, I want it to last.
Austin: Well, I want that for you, too.
Carrie: What about you?
Austin: I want that for me. [Both laugh] A wife, family. You know, as corny as it is, I think that's what life's all about. I'm -- I'm a sucker for kids. You're the most beautiful woman that I have ever seen.
Sami: I swear to God, Kate, if you sabotage my happiness again, I --
Kate: [Laughs] The only one who ever sabotages your happiness is you, Sami.
Sami: You know -- you are unbelievable. You would think by now you would learn to leave me alone, especially tonight. I'm not in the mood.
Kate: Oh, really? What are you upset -- did your date not turn up, or do you always dress like that to take out the trash, huh?
Sami: Aah! Get out!
Kate: Nope, nope, nope. I'm not going anywhere until you assure me that you're staying away from Austin.
Sami: Assure you? Have you lost your mind? I am not going to assure you of anything. In fact, if you don't leave my apartment right this very second, I swear to God, I will call my dad and have you forcibly removed.
Kate: [Laughs] Do that. Why don't you do that? Why don't you call your daddy, 'cause you know something? He's the only one who doesn't despise you, Sami. The only one.
Sami: You wish that were true. If you'd come a little earlier, you would have seen Austin and I getting awfully cozy. In fact, it was right on the sofa. [ Scoffs]
Kate: You listen to me, and you listen to me good -- if you make one move towards Austin, I'm going to make your life hell. Do you hear me? Hell.
Sami: You are such an unbelievable bitch! Why can't you just leave me alone?!
Jack: It's all right, Jennifer. It's even all right to be afraid. I just want to reassure you that all this...it's okay. Frankie loves you. I know he does. I know you can trust him. I know he'll make you happy. You remember what I told you, right, both of you, actually? You and Frankie together -- that's what I want. It's what you want, too, right? So just...let it happen. Tell him how you feel. And I know you'll be okay. And you know I'll rest in peace.
Frankie: Are you okay? Are you okay?
Jennifer: Yeah, I was -- I was just thinking about what you said. You said that you loved me.
Frankie: You knew that. You've known it for a long time.
Jennifer: I just thought, um, maybe you should know how I feel. I love you. A part of me always has, and I think I always will.
Patrick: I'm sorry, Hope. I know you didn't want it to end like this.
Hope: You know, deep down... I honestly believed that we'd still have a chance...that we could work things out. But, obviously, I was wrong. If Bo's e-mail didn't convince me, that phone call did. And the fact that he's with Billie after everything that's happened --
Patrick: Don't go jumping to conclusions --
Hope: Oh, I don't have to. It is so clear what's going on. And I think I know what I have to do.
Patrick: What are you doing?
Hope: I'm e-mailing Bo... and telling him...that I want the divorce as fast as possible.
Patrick: Are you sure you want to do that? [Keyboard keys clicking]
Hope: There. It's done. As of this moment, I'm a free woman. My son and my marriage are dead. And Shawn's married to Mimi, so he really doesn't need me anymore. So you see...there's nothing left for me in Salem.
Billie: I'm sorry, Bo. I know how much this hurts. Believe me, I know. I just can't believe that she's gonna go through with this. You have to do something, Bo. [PDA rings]
Chelsea: Perfect. Well, this is one e-mail my dad definitely needs to see.
Bo: Before Hope hung up, I asked her to reread my e-mail, think about what I said. All I can do now is hope she does. [Computer beeps] It's an e-mail. Maybe that's her.
Billie: Oh, my God. What are -- is it her? What does she say?
Bo: Yeah, it is Hope.
Billie: What does she say?
Bo: [Sighs] She still wants a divorce.
Billie: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
Bo: It's over. It's over. Hope and I are finished.
Mimi: Shawn, are you here?
Bonnie: Oh, Max, we have a problem.
Austin: I think we should spend more time together, see what happens.
Carrie: I think there's something important I need to tell you first.
Billie: And you just gave her some really tough love. The hard part's over. She needs to be by herself and let this all sink in.
