Kate: I can't tell you how much it hurt me to see Billie in jail.

John: This is just too much to take in. The fact that Zack's dead, that someone ran over him. Now you're telling me Billie was driving? You know, she's just not that reckless behind the wheel.

Kate: I know. It's really hard to believe, isn't it? So, how's Marlena?

John: Well... thanks to me, she's closer to Alex than ever.

Kate: Well, at least Lois Banks won't be able to hurt her anymore.

John: Yeah, yeah. Marlena's furious at me for accusing Alex of trying to kill her, and then because I refused to believe that he might be telling the truth, she almost died. I guess I can't blame her for being angry. I really blew it, didn't I?

Marlena: Nurse, when will he be allowed to leave?

Nurse: As soon as we get all his test results, so pretty soon. And then you're going to have to make sure he gets lots of rest.

Marlena: I'll do that.

Nurse: Okay.

Marlena: I am gonna take such good care of you. And this time, you'll be the patient, and I'll be the doctor. I can't wait to get you back to the penthouse.

Alex: Are you, uh, sure you want to go back there?

Marlena: I am. I want to go back there with you.

Alex: Hmm.

Marlena: I'm so embarrassed that I let John make me doubt my love for you.

Abby: Chelsea can't keep lying about this. Billie cannot go to jail for something she didn't do.

Max: Abby, does that mean you're gonna tell the cops?

Chelsea: So why are we going in here?

Patrick: No more bull, Chelsea. I want you to tell me what really happened. Your mom's sitting in a jail cell right now. She confessed to running over Zack Brady and leaving him in the street to die. Now, a hit-and-run driver doesn't exactly describe the Billie Reed I know.

Chelsea: So who do you think it describes, Patrick? Me?

[Doorbell rings]

Jennifer: Hi. Oh, I came to see how you're doing. That's such a stupid thing to say. I know how you're doing. Come on. Come on. Ooh.

Hope: Gran was here with Maggie and Julie.

Jennifer: Yeah?

Hope: I sent them home. I know they love me and their hearts are breaking, too, but right now it's just too hard for me to be with anyone.

Jennifer: What are you doing with Zack's toys?

Hope: I don't know. What do I do?

Jennifer: Listen, you're not ready to let him go. So if these toys stay here for a year or two years, it doesn't matter. Don't put them away until you're ready to.

Hope: I hate seeing them, but I hate not seeing them. Oh, my God. How will I ever be able to let go of my boy? I miss him so much already, Jen.

Jennifer: I know you do. It's a miracle that you got out of bed this morning. You have been through the worst pain that anyone could go through.

Hope: There is one thing I have to be tough about. I have to make sure she goes to jail for a very long time.

Jennifer: "She"? You know who the driver is?

Hope: Jen, it was Billie.

Jennifer: What?

Hope: She confessed. She killed Zack. Bo's with her right now.

Bo: I won't let you take this whole thing on your shoulders. You weren't driving my truck.

Billie: I already confessed.

Bo: Confessions can be retracted. Chelsea hit my son. I can't keep the truth from Hope any longer.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

Abby: Max, I'm not gonna tell the cops or my mom, but bo already knows what happened. He's eventually gonna tell the truth, right? He's a cop.

Max: It was his kid that got killed. They're both his kids. That's what's pretty rough about the whole thing.

Abby: How could Bo lie to Hope?

Max: Well, he's been lying the whole time, and the longer he puts it off, the harder it's gonna be to come clean. You know Bo and Billie didn't raise Chelsea. That's why they feel so guilty about this. Maybe they think this is a way they can make it up to her or something.

Abby: Well, hopefully Patrick will talk her out of it. He's got a lot of influence over Chelsea.

Patrick: I'm not accusing anyone -- not you, that's for sure. You'd never let your mom take the blame for a hit-and-run if she didn't do it. So, I try to picture Billie running down Zack and just taking off, but I canít. She is ISA. She is a cop. She would never just leave the scene. So, I wondered to myself, "what would make Billie take the blame? I mean, she must be covering for someone, right?" Who do you think that is? Well, something isn't right here.. That much I am clear about, and either you really don't know who was driving that car, or you're not willing to tell me. But I know who will.

Jennifer: Hope, I-I cannot believe that Billie would leave the scene of an accident. That doesn't make sense.

Hope: She killed my boy. If she'd stopped, if she'd called 911, Zack might still be here.

Jennifer: Bo is with Billie right now?

Hope: She's in a holding cell at P.D.

Jennifer: Okay, well, he'll find out exactly what happened.

Hope: No, we know exactly what happened. My baby is dead, and she's responsible.

Jennifer: Okay, but it was Bo's car. Why is that?

Hope: Why? She -- she took Bo's car!

Jennifer: Why? Why would she take his car? She has her own car.

Hope: She said hers wouldn't start, and so she thought she'd help herself. You know how she's always felt entitled to Bo.

Jennifer: I understand your feelings toward Billie, and you have good reason, Hope, but it doesn't make sense that she would leave the scene of a hit-and-run accident. I don't believe that.

Hope: Why is everyone defending Billie? Even Bo.

Jennifer: Because I think that we all have different ways that we deal with grief, and you know that Bo was destroyed by losing Zack, Hope.

Hope: I know. I just don't understand how he can even talk to her.

Jennifer: Come here.

Bo: Hope and I are going through the same pain over Zack. I got to tell her the truth. We share everything. She -- she deserves to know who was driving the vehicle that killed her son.

Billie: Bo, please donít.

Bo: I got to tell her it was Chelsea, not you.

Billie: No, come on. Think about Chelsea in jail. A girl her age? She could lose her life.

Bo: My son is dead.

Billie: You want to kill your daughter, too?

Bo: That's jail, not death. They're not the same. Don't try to compare them.

Billie: All I am saying is that an eye for an eye isn't gonna help anybody.

Bo: You obviously don't know what it's like to lose a child like this... to know that he's not gonna come running to give you a big, old bear hug when you walk through the door at the end of the day... that I'm not gonna have to wake up in the middle of the night 'cause he's got a fever and he needs his daddy to give him a hug and let him know it's gonna be okay. All that stuff you do for your kid out of love. A lifetime of watching him grow up to be a man. That's not gonna happen 'cause my son is gone.

Billie: Bo, I know that when we were searching for Chelsea all that time, wondering what we had missed in her life. Do you want to miss the rest of her life, too? Maybe you do.

Bo: Come on, no, I donít.

Billie: Okay, okay, then please, Bo. There is nothing anyone can do to bring Zack back. Believe me, if there was, I would do it. I would. But what I can do is make sure you don't lose your daughter, too...or your marriage. A lot of marriages break up over the death of a child, Bo. And if Hope finds out that Chelsea was the one driving that car, that you let her drive your car, she'll blame you for Zack's death. I don't think she'll ever forgive you. You even said so yourself. I know you guys have been through a lot together and you're strong, but something like could be the end of your marriage. Is that what you want?

Alex: You come to inflict more pain on me, John?

John: I don't really give a rat's ass about your pain. I'm concerned about Marlena, though. Now, if you knew that this Lois Banks was such a nut job, why didn't you warn her? I mean, she is the woman you say you love, right?

Alex: Do you want to tell him?

Marlena: Sure. It's doctor-patient confidentiality. I just know you've heard of it.

John: Oh, for God's sakes.

Marlena: Alex was Lois' psychiatrist. He was not allowed to reveal any of her history of mental illness unless he was personally positive she was about to commit a crime.

John: So he was willing to let you die rather than break an oath, right?

Marlena: He was willing to go to jail. He's a man of his word. He believes in his oath.

John: Yeah, well, I'm not buying a second of that.

Alex: Oh, I tried to warn the police, John, but you made certain they didn't listen to me.

John: You didn't give me anything concrete to go on, did you?

Alex: Marlena just explained to you why I couldn't, but I did tell you that Lois was lying, and you didn't even check out her story, did you?

John: And you escaped from jail, you stole a gun, and now I'm supposed to believe that you were, what, an innocent man with nothing to hide?

Alex: What else was I supposed to do? Since I was the only one that believed that Lois was a threat, I was the only one who could stop her. And I almost did till you shot me -- almost killed me.

John: Oh, relax, will you? You look pretty good for a dead man.

Alex: That's not the point. The point is I ended up in the hospital.

Marlena: In a coma.

Alex: Yes, and thanks to you, I couldn't get anyone to believe me when I would tell them that Lois was a threat to Marlena, even if I had been willing to break my oath.

Marlena: As soon as Alex was conscious, he broke out of the hospital and came to save me. I'm only here now because of his courage and his dedication. Fine, you know what? I'd like to be alone with Alex if you two don't mind. Man.

Alex: Shh.

John: Well, I got to hand it to the guy. He's a real genius when it comes to knowing what buttons to push around Marlena. He's got her so manipulated, she doesn't even have a clue.

Kate: So is it hard to accept that Marlena's chosen Alex over you?

John: Come on, Kate. You know me. I'm not accepting anything.

Kate: What are you planning now, hmm?

John: I'm just gonna find out everything there is to know about Lois Banks -- on the record and off. There's a puzzle piece that's missing here. I'm gonna find out what it is.

Lois: Give me a break. This is not necessary. Just get it off me.

Officer: Calm down.

John: This mental illness crap's a total scam, isn't it, Lois? It's just a way to commit crimes and get away with it.

Lois: Whatever you say, Johnny Boy. Loser. You lost Marlena, and you are never gonna get her back.

[Laughs evilly]

Alex: You defended me so passionately, Marlena. I'm very touched by that..

Marlena: I meant every word of it. Alex... I need your attention. I have something very important to say to you.

Patrick: I have some questions for you, Max. What are you looking at Chelsea for?

Max: What, are you a cop now?

Patrick: No, I'm Billie's friend, and I'm asking the questions. Unless you have something to hide.

Max: No.

Patrick: Okay. Where was Bo's SUV taken after the accident?

Max: The SUV?

Patrick: Yeah, Max, the SUV. The one that ran over Zack? Does that ring a bell?

Max: I had it towed to my garage, which I think you know by now.

Chelsea: Patrick, why are you doing this? Billie already confessed. Isn't that all the police need?

Patrick: [Sarcastically] You're real concerned about your mom, huh?

Chelsea: Of course I am.

Patrick: Look, I told you -- I think she's innocent and protecting someone. She's about to throw her life away, and I want to know what's really going down here. Why can't you understand that? It's like you're afraid of any kind of investigation at all. Why is that? Chelsea, do you have something you want to say?

Chelsea: No.

Hope: Jen.

Jennifer: What?

Hope: Talk to me.

Jennifer: Okay, what do you want to talk about?

Hope: I don't know. Just...just talk so I stop thinking. Frankie.

Jennifer: No, I don't want to talk about Frankie right now.

Hope: Jen, please? Please. Just talk, okay?

Jennifer: Okay, um, I know. I could tell you about the DVD that Jack left for me. And, uh, he was talking about my future and how he wanted me to spend my future with Frankie, as if I didn't have any say in the matter. But you know what? The most amazing thing about it was that I got to see him. I saw his face, and I heard his voice. It was amazing.

Hope: I think I know the answer to this, did Frankie feel about it?

Jennifer: Well, uh, Frankie just told me his feelings for me and also that the love that we shared never went away for him.

Hope: That's not such a surprise, is it?

Jennifer: I don't know. I feel uncomfortable even talking about this. I don't even want to think about another man right now, Hope.

Hope: You know what? Right now, I don't think you should worry about that. Right now, I think you should be so grateful that you have a good friend like Frankie who's willing to be there for you, not just you but Abby and J.J. The hurt's always going to be there. I know if I didn't have Bo to count on right now, if I were alone without him to trust wholeheartedly.... I'd be lost.

Bo: Miss Reed and I need a few minutes to talk in her cell.

Mary: All right, Detective Brady.

Bo: I'll call you when I need you. I've been giving your argument a lot of thought. Lying to Hope is eating me up inside, and that's what's gonna come between us. We always try to be honest with each other. If she finds out from somebody else, that will be the end. I know Hope. She'll never forgive me for keeping the truth from her.

Billie: You already have.

Bo: Yeah, I know. That's what I've got to change.

Billie: Okay, you've got to be willing to give her up then. Because I know Hope, too, and if she finds out that you let Chelsea drive your car, she won't even let you say another word. Your marriage will be over.

Bo: I'm not sure how she's gonna react to anything I have to say. She is so deep in grief right now. I don't know if I'll be able to help pull her out of it.

Billie: Bo, I don't know if anyone will be able to help pull her out of it. She just lost the child that she gave birth to, that she loved more than anything in the world, that she took care of. She is in so much pain.

Bo: Yeah, well, I want to spare her that pain.

Billie: She is so lucky. She is so lucky to have a guy who loves her the way you do, but she will turn on you if you tell her the truth. She will be so angry, she won't be able to turn it off. She just may go over the deep end, and you can't afford to let that happen for her sake and for Shawn's.

Bo: Are you telling me I got to continue this lie to spare my family?

Billie: I'm sorry, Bo, but I don't see any other way out of it. We both have to lie to save the people we love.

Bo: This is my fault. I'm the one to blame. I signed that consent form so Chelsea could get her temporary license. What the hell was I thinking? Was the world gonna come to an end because she couldn't drive for a few more weeks? She needed those damn driving classes, and I turned a blind eye because I didn't want to be the father to say no to her. I didn't want to be the bad guy in her eyes. And now I've lost my son.

Billie: Hope's not the only one who's suffering. Zack was your little boy, too.

Bo: You know, it's weird. There's all these details... the accident site, who was driving the vehicle... seeing his broken body in the hospital...having to say goodbye to him. I was there for all of it, and it doesn't seem real. [Voice breaking] I keep expecting to have him come running up to me with his favorite truck and say, [Sobbing] "Daddy, come on, let's go play." I want to play. But it's real. I've lost my boy. And...I could lose my wife if I lie to her, or if I tell her the truth, I could lose the woman I've loved all my life.

John: Lois, you've been lying to us about everything since we met you, so why should we start believing you now? I mean, obviously, you made up this whole story about Alex beating Marlena. What was the point of that?

Lois: Oh, still searching for the point? Like that's gonna somehow get your precious Doc back. Sweetheart, nothing will. You lost. Alex won. Get over it. [ Gasps] Oh, maybe you are getting over it, and she's helping you. Is that right, honey? Are you helping him get over Marlena?

[Laughs] New woman in John Black's life. Doesn't take you long, does it?

John: Let's get out of here.

Lois: Oh, please, I know all about it. I've been spying on you. I know you're already living together. I see the way she looks at you. She's hot for you. Oh, go ahead. Deny it.

Kate: This is ridiculous.

Lois: Ridiculous?

John: I seem to be making one mistake after another these days. Thinking I could come here to reason with a lunatic. I'm sorry for wasting your time, Kate. But it's kind of nice to know they've got you all tied up. At least I'll know Marlena will be safe.

Lois: Safe? Safe with Alex? Oh, that's rich.

Marlena: The other men who have said they loved me -- John and Roman -- always wanted something... loyalty, romance, passion, thoughts, memories. It was exhausting. The only thing you ever wanted was for me to be really happy, and you're so unselfish and so kind. And I could just cry thinking about how patient you've been with me.

Alex: That's because I love you.

Marlena: [Giggles] I know you do. I believe with my whole heart you do.. That's why I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Alex North, you are my future.

Alex: Are you sure about that? I don't think it's gonna be a very popular decision with your family -- with your children, your grandchildren.

Marlena: I would never abandon them. In fact, I have grown very fond of my children. It's John. I mean, it's a marriage that never was really legal, and, um, now it's completely dead. You were the only true husband I've ever had. And I am so proud to call myself Mrs. Alex North. Now...I have a favor to ask of you, and you don't get to say no to me. I would like it very much if we could renew our wedding vows.

Patrick: I'm gonna go to your garage.

Max: Why?

Patrick: I want to check things out. You got a problem with me wanting to look for evidence that might clear Billie?

Max: No. Not at all.

Patrick: Good.

Chelsea: Max, um, we got to get to that thing, remember?

Max: What thing?

Chelsea: That thing that we made plans for a couple weeks ago.

Max: Our plans can wait. I'm gonna take Patrick here over to the garage. Let's go.

Abby: Chelsea, you can't keep lying about this. I mean, eventually somebody's going to figure out that it was you.

Jennifer: Listen, I want to do something for you. What can I do?

Hope: Please never be afraid to talk to me about Zack. Promise me.

Jennifer: Yeah, I promise you.

Hope: I want our memories of him to live on forever.

Jennifer: You know, Hope, I just really can't even imagine what you're going through right now.

Hope: I hope to God you never have to. Jen, I'm sorry, but you know what? I just can't stand to be in this house one more second without knowing what's going on. I'm going to the station to make sure that Billie gets the punishment she deserves.

Jennifer: Wait a minute. I don't think that's such a good idea.

Hope: Jennifer, I need to take care of this. I need to go.

Jennifer: Be careful. I'll turn off the lights and lock up.

Billie: Think about what your life would be life without Hope. She'd be so angry, she wouldn't talk to you. I know when I lost whole body ached for my little girl. Now, I'm not saying that you're not suffering as much as Hope is, but I am saying that from my experience as a woman, she will not be forgiving.

Bo: You're right. She'll hate me. That's what I deserve. But what's important right now is that I do what's best for Hope, and I don't know what that is.

Billie: I do. Please listen to me, Bo. Hope will never be able to get over losing Zack without you there to comfort her. She is in an unbearable amount of pain. No woman should have to face that alone. So please...don't make her go through it without you.

Chelsea: Oh, God, what if Max tells Patrick the truth, Abby -- that I was the one driving the car?

Abby: Chelsea, can't you think about anybody but yourself?

Chelsea: Abby, this is my life we are talking about.

Abby: What about your little brother's life? That's gone. And your mom -- she's giving it up for you, and you're not even grateful. You're just trying to cover yourself up.

Chelsea: I don't even know why we were ever friends to begin with, Abby. You don't support me at all.

Abby: I haven't said anything, have I? And neither will Max because he's a loyal friend. And while we are both standing by you being loyal, we're both wondering why.

Chelsea: You really mean that? You don't think Max will tell?

Abby: I know he wonít.

Chelsea: I should have done this a long time ago.

Abby: What is that?

Chelsea: My temporary license.

Abby: Chelsea, what are you doing?

John: are looking at one stupid man.

Kate: No. No, don't say that.

John: I believed her. She's a freaking nut, and I bought it.

Kate: No, you just wanted to believe that Alex was a danger to Marlena. I ended up believing it myself.

John: And she's still saying that Alex is a threat to Marlena. Am I supposed to believe her now? Do you?

Kate: [Sighs] Lois is out of her mind.

Lois: [Laughs evilly]

Kate: And that's not just our opinion. She's in a straitjacket, so the doctors agree. I don't think that we can believe one word that comes out of her mouth.

John: Well, then, who beat Marlena? You saw the photographs. They were real. Was it Lois...or Alex? See, I still don't trust him, so I got to follow my gut. I don't think she's safe with him, and I don't care what she thinks about me anymore. I just have to know that she's okay. I'm gonna go check on her.

Lois: [Laughs evilly] You can't hide it from me. I see you I see how much you love John. So go for it. Alex is with Marlena now. John's alone. This is your big chance! Go get your man!

[Laughs evilly]

Kate: I'm not listening to a madwoman.

Lois: [Laughing] You've got to take this off. You've got to get me out of this thing. I got to get it off. I can't breathe.

Officer: You need to calm down.

Marlena: Alex, I owe you everything. You've always loved me so unselfishly. I'm so grateful for that. You know, it's hard. People have all these memories of love that I don't have. I just don't have them. But you... you gave me the room to feel. And the time to let those feelings grow, and now it's as though I have real memories of our life together. All those years, all that time, all the time you loved me and waited for me.

Alex: Oh, I waited for you. Not only in my heart 'cause I never loved another woman. It's always been you. You are the one true love of my life.

Marlena: Does that mean that we get to renew our wedding vows? Does that mean that you're gonna do that for me?

Alex: Yes. I -- [Groans]

Marlena: Careful, careful.

Alex: I can't wait. I want us both to promise that we will love, honor, and cherish only each other for the rest of our lives. Promise me that I will never lose you again.

Marlena: I promise.

Lois: Enjoy it while it lasts, Marlena, 'cause Alex is going to be mine. You'll find out. Just before you die, the truth will become crystal clear. But it'll be too late. [Chuckles] You'll go to your grave, and Alex and I will be together. He's coming back for me. [Gasping] Alex? Alex? Alex?!

Nurse: Sign here and on the second page, down at the bottom.

Marlena: [Chuckles]

Alex: There you go.

Nurse: You're free to go, Dr. North.

Alex: Thank you.

Marlena: Oh, mama, what beautiful words! That means we are free to go home and start to plan our wedding. We've got an entire future to plan.

Nurse: If I could find a guy like that...

Nurse 2: Dr. North and Marlena Evans? I know. It's so romantic.

Nurse: They're going to renew their wedding vows. I hope they live happily ever after.

John: I've lost her, Kate.

Chelsea: There. Now it's done. And no one will ever know the truth. Max won't tell Patrick, and Patrick will never know that I was the one that killed Zack. [ Sniffles]

Max: I don't know what it is that you're looking for, Patrick. I mean, Bo's car was already impounded by the cops to look for evidence.

Patrick: You got a problem with me looking around?

Max: No, not at all, actually. I was just thinking you're not gonna find anything.

Patrick: Mm-hmm. Well, the car was here. There must be something the cops missed.

Max: I don't know.

Patrick: Well, something's not right. Someone's keeping a secret. I don't know what and I don't know who, but I don't believe Billie was driving Bo's SUV that night. There's got to be evidence around here somewhere.

Bo: I'm sorry I wasn't there to share the grief with you over losing Georgia.

Billie: I loved you so much back then. It was so hard being told that our baby was dead, and then not having you there with me. Hope and I have had our problems. We have, mainly over you, but I wouldn't wish that grief on anyone. She's gonna need you terribly. Just like I did.

Bo: Yeah. Okay.

Patrick: I found something in your records, Max -- maybe the key to setting Billie free and finding out who really did run down Zack and kill him.

Bo: You don't know what's going on here.

Sami: He's a different man than when he left Salem after he...

Carrie: Dumped you at the altar.

Austin: I will get her back, and do not stand in my way.

Lucas: There is no way you're gonna get Carrie back.
