Carrie: What a wonderful way to start the new

Austin: I still can't believe we pulled an all-nighter. And here I was -- I was gonna go to bed early and wake up fresh and ready for the big day I have ahead of me.

Carrie: Oh, don't worry about it. Once the announcement goes public that you're taking over a company and you're becoming a major player in the Fortune 500 world, you'll be running on adrenaline. I'll never forget this morning -- taking the carriage ride to the pier, meeting up with an old friend.

Austin: And is he lucky we came along.

Austin: Okay, pal, here you go. May you and Carrie avoid all future lobster traps [Chuckles] And have a very long and happy life together.

Carrie: Ooh.

Austin: I want that for us, too, by the way.

Carrie: It was really great what you did -- freeing Austin the lobster.

Austin: Austin the lobster.

Carrie: It really was. But now I hope he's reunited with his girlfriend -- Carrie lobster -- and with any luck, they'll live happily...

Together: Ever after.

Austin: That's right.

[Both laughing] Oh, wow.

[Laughter in distance]

Sami: Damn it, what is going on out there?

[Laughter in distance]

Austin: Wow.

Carrie: I know.

Austin: Please don't ever do that. Don't ever that again.

Carrie: Oh!

Austin: Oh, boy.

Carrie: I hope you know how tough you've made it for me to go back to L.A.

Austin: Well, you know, I have a feeling that I'm gonna be spending a lot of time there when this takeover happens. It's gonna be my home away from home. I'm gonna need to get an apartment.

Carrie: No, you wonít. You'll stay with me.

Austin: It's a deal. [Chuckles] I had a great time with you tonight...and this morning.

Carrie: So did I.

Austin: And I hope there's many great times to come.

Nicole: What's so interesting in the hallway?

Chelsea: Dad, please promise me that you won't tell Hope I was the one driving your car.

Bo: I would like to protect you, but I canít. Hope's my wife. Zach was her son. I will not lie to her.

Chelsea: But you don't have to. She doesn't know that I was behind the wheel, and she doesn't ever have to find out.

Bo: What about those cops over there? They have evidence that it was my truck that killed my son. Now, if I wasn't driving it -- if it wasn't stolen -- they know that I know who was driving it.

Chelsea: Dad, please.

Billie: Oh, sweetheart. Bo, I just flew in. I heard about Zach's accident. Where is he? Is he okay?

Bo: No. He's gone. My son is dead.

[Monitor beeping]

Shawn D.: [Gasps] Z-Zach, is that really you? Oh, this is -- this is impossible. This is just a dream, right?

Belle: It can't be. I see him, too.

Shawn D.: Maybe -- maybe this has been a nightmare. Maybe -- maybe Zach being hit by the car and dying -- maybe -- maybe that -- that wasn't real. Maybe this is real. Maybe he is really alive. Is -- is this possible? Are you alive?

Lois: [Sighs] What was I thinking of? I must have been out of my mind, trying to kill Alex. You're the problem, Marlena. You always were. And with you gone, Alex won't be able to love you anymore. I'll give him a couple of weeks to get over you. It shouldn't take much longer than that. Then Alex will be mine.

Marlena: [Gasps]

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

Lois: [Breathing heavily]

Marlena: Uhh!

Lois: You -- you were faking.

Marlena: It was y-you. You were the one trying to kill me -- not Alex. That's why he risked everything to break out -- out of jail and come to the penthouse -- to try to save my -- my life.

[Doorknob rattling]

Lois: Uhh! Oh!

Marlena: [Panting]

Billie: No. It isn't possible. Zach can't be gone.

Chelsea: [Sniffles] It's true. He is.

Billie: Oh, Bo, I'm -- I'm so sorry. I don't know what to say.

Chelsea: [Sniffles]

Billie: Oh, sweetheart, you must be hurting, too. It is not fair -- all the tragedies that you have had to face -- losing your adoptive parents and now your little brother.

Chelsea: I really loved him. And he loved me, too, and I just -- he hardly knew me. I wanted to be a really good sister.

Billie: You were, sweetheart. Oh, Bo. Bo, you were such a great dad. Zach was a special little boy, and he was so lucky to have you and Hope as his parents. Where is Hope?

Bo: Lexie had to give her a sedative. She's sleeping. But when she wakes up, things are gonna get a lot worse.

Billie: How did this happen?

Bo: Zach was having a sleep over at one of his buddy's, and for some reason -- I don't know why just yet, but I will find out -- he, uh, went out of the house and wandered into the street. It was dark. It was a hit-and-run.

Billie: [Gasps] A hit-and-run?

Chelsea: We do know that it was an accident. I mean, how could the driver know that there would be a little boy on the road in the middle of the night? It was dark.

Billie: Have they caught the driver?

Bo: Uh, the police haven't -- no.

Chelsea: They might never find them.

Billie: Why not? They have to find the monster who did this! Okay, do the police have any leads on the driver?

Bo: Yeah, they do. I know who it was.

Billie: Who did this?

Bo: Our daughter.

Billie: Excuse me?

Bo: Chelsea was driving the car that killed my son.

Nicole: Okay, come on, Sami. So, who's out there, huh? Did Lucas shack up with that hot little waitress again?

Sami: No! Besides, my sister is staying with him, remember?

Nicole: Hmm. Okay. So, who's out in the hallway? Hey -- idea. Let's open the door and see.

Sami: No. No. Stop it. Okay, I'll tell you. It's just Austin and Carrie, okay? They just got back from their date last night.

Nicole: They're just getting back?

Sami: Yeah.

Nicole: Well, we're just gonna have to do something about that, aren't we, Sami?

Sami: Well, actually, thanks to you, we've already done something.

Carrie: So, how are you going to celebrate your victory?

Austin: Well, I promised I was gonna take Sami and Nicole out for some champagne. Don't -- no, no, no, no. Don't worry. I'm gonna make it early so you and I can celebrate.. Maybe we can do another all-nighter.

Carrie: Forget it. I'm exhausted. The only all-nighter we'll be pulling is in bed.

Austin: Okay! Just don't fall asleep.

Carrie: Well, I-I think that will be up to you, don't you?

Zach: Hi, Claire. How you doing?

Belle: Well, uh, she's got a fever, but she's fighting hard.

Zach: Don't worry. She's gonna be okay.

Shawn D.: That's what we've been praying for. Is that why you're here, buddy? Is that what you're here to tell us? I love you. And I miss you so much already.

Zach: I'm here, Shawn. I'm always here. And so is Claire. I know she's not going anywhere, just like I know you and Belle are meant to be together.

Marlena: [Gasping]

Lois: You took Alex away from me, you holier-than-thou!

Marlena: We can talk about this. We can talk about it, okay? You see, when you -- when you came to Salem, you said I was your friend.

Lois: I was your friend. You were never my friend!

Marlena: If I hurt you, I'm very sorry. I-I never meant to. I-I didn't even remember what happened. But I can't see how -- how killing me is gonna solve any of your -- your problems.

Lois: It'll solve all my problems. Alex will be mine.

Marlena: [Screams] Lois! Lois! He never loved you. He never even mentioned you.

Lois: You're a lousy psychiatrist, you know that? You always were. Is that supposed to make me feel any better? For your information, Alex and I could have shared a great love. We would have had a wonderful life together if it wasn't for you! And with you gone, Alex will realize I'm the one he was meant to be with. Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!

[Both shouting, grunting]

Marlena: [Gasping] Aaah!

Billie: Oh, my God. Is this true? Did you hit Zach?

Chelsea: [Sniffles] Yes. It's true. But I didn't mean to. I thought that I hit a pothole in the road, and that's why I didn't stop. I didn't think for one second that it would be Zach.

Billie: Of course not. Of course not.

Chelsea: [Sniffles]

Billie: [Exhales deeply] Do the police know? What are you gonna do? [ Inhales deeply] Who else knows about this?

Bo: Max.

Billie: Max? Was Max in the car with you?

Bo: We're not gonna pin this on him.

Billie: Why did you tell Max?! Why does he know?!

Bo: I called him to take the truck to his garage.

Chelsea: He promised he wouldn't tell.

Billie: We've got to fix this, Bo. We got to find a way to save our daughter.

Austin: [Sighs deeply] Oh, God, I hate to say goodbye, but I have to. It'll just be for a little while, but I have -- I have -- I have got to go in and get ready, cleaned up, if I'm gonna go in for the kill for this deal I got going down today.

Carrie: I've never seen you so aggressive, Austin. I feel sorry for whoever you're about to plow under. I wish you would tell me about this deal. I feel like I could learn a lot from you.

Austin: I don't want to jinx it, but I will fill you in on all the details when everything goes down.

Carrie: You mean once you've licked the blood off the plate?

Austin: [Chuckles] Put it this way -- it's gonna ensure the future of my company. But I definitely want to celebrate with you later.

Carrie: And I will definitely love to.

Austin: [Exhales deeply]

Carrie: [Exhales deeply]

Carrie: Hi.

Lucas: Well, hey, welcome home. You must have had a pretty good time. You were out all night.

Carrie: I hope you didn't wait up for me.

Lucas: Me? No. You kidding me? You're a big girl. You could take care of yourself, right?

Carrie: I couldn't sleep, and I went on the roof, and I ran into Austin.

Lucas: And?

Carrie: It was wonderful. I really think we might have a chance of getting it right this time.

Lucas: Well, good. Good. I hope nothing happens that could mess things up with you.

Sami: Well, how was your date with my sister? I mean, obviously, it went well since you're just getting in now.

Austin: It was great. It was great. I really think things can work out for us this time.

Sami: I'm really happy for you.

Austin: You are? Really?

Sami: Yes, really. How many times do I have to tell you?

Austin: I'm -- I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Just, you know, thank you. I really do appreciate your support.

Sami: Well, I want you to be happy. I want everyone I love and everyone I work with to be happy. Maybe some of this love stuff will rub off on me. I've had enough disappointment and bad luck to make me not want to wish it on anyone else.

Austin: Sami, I don't mean to make it sound like I don't believe you, it's just --

Sami: That you donít.

Austin: It's just different hearing this from you -- I mean, if you really mean it.

Sami: I do mean it, Austin. You and Carrie think that you can work things out this time, and obviously she's been in your heart all along. I think things are gonna work out the way that they were meant to. And I really want you to have the happiness that you deserve, Austin.

Nicole: Wow. Um, that really is surprisingly generous, Sami. You know, Austin, I want you to be happy, too, but I have to be honest. I really don't think you're gonna find it by going back to your ex-wife.

Belle: Zach... I-I understand why you would say that Shawn and I are meant to be together, but, honey, I'm married to Philip now, and Claire is our daughter. She's -- she's our little girl.

Zach: Claire is the baby of the man you love.

Belle: Yes, she is. I love Philip, and I love Claire, and, buddy, I love you, too. I remember when I used to come over with Shawn and babysit you, and we would laugh, and we would play. And then I had Claire, and I just knew how much she would love you -- that you could be kind of like a big brother to her while she was growing up.

Shawn D.: Being a brother -- that -- that was the best thing that ever happened to me. I can't imagine not being a brother anymore.

Zach: You'll always be my big brother, Shawn. I love you so much. Don't ever forget.

Shawn D.: No. Zach, don't -- don't go, buddy.

Zach: Just know Claire will be okay. Everything will be okay.

Shawn D.: Don't go, Zach. I love you so much.

[Monitor beeping]

Shawn D.: Zach, were you here?

[Both grunting]

Marlena: [Gasping]

Lois: No! Damn! Oh! Damn!

[Breathing heavily]

Chelsea: [Sniffles] I asked dad if he would help me, and he said he didn't think he could. Mom, please talk to him. I don't -- I don't want to go to prison. I'm afraid of what they'll do to me.

Billie: Listen. You just wait right here while your father and I figure out what to do, okay?

Chelsea: Okay.

Billie: Try and relax. Everything is gonna be okay, I promise. Your father and I are here for you. Okay.

Chelsea: [Sniffles]

Billie: I am so sorry about Zach.

Bo: [Sniffles]

Billie: This is even more horrible than when we thought we lost Chelsea at birth. As sad as that was, we never knew her. We never had one second to see her alive... or even relate to her like you had Zach.

Bo: I'm beginning to wonder how well I knew my little Tiny Man. I sure didn't spend as much time with him as I wanted. You know, that first year, he was taken from us, and then this last year or so, we've been looking for Chelsea. You know, I felt bad that I wasn't there for her at the beginning.

Billie: Yeah.

Bo: And then I was worried that she was living some miserable life someplace, and... she wasnít. She was right here in Salem. She -- you know, if we hadn't found her... Zach would still be alive.

Billie: Oh, you don't think that.

Bo: Don't get me wrong. I-I love -- I love her. Having a daughter is a blessing. You know, at the beginning, you know, when we knew she was our daughter, I-I knew it was gonna be rough because of our history. But things were getting better. And you know why? Because of Zach. Zach loved having a big sister. He -- he was like a little peacemaker, you know? Because of his love and his innocence, it brought our family together. And now I -- [Cries softly] Why -- why did something like this have to happen?

Billie: I don't know. I don't know.

Bo: And Hope -- she's beside herself with grief. I mean, it was bad enough when she found out that our vehicle killed our son. And --

Billie: Wait a minute.

Bo: When she finds out that Chelsea was driving...

Billie: She doesn't know that Chelsea was the one driving the car?

Bo: No, not yet.

Billie: Oh, dear God.

Bo: Hope thought that Chelsea shouldn't be allowed behind a wheel of a car -- not till she finished her driving lessons.

Billie: What are you talking about? You told me her license was suspended when she got in that accident, drove her car off the road, and totaled it.

Bo: It was.

Billie: Why was she driving your car?

Bo: I signed a temporary license and loaned it to her.

Billie: [Sighs]

Bo: When Hope finds that out... our relationship will never be the same. She'll never understand how I could have done such a thing. She'll never forgive me. I'll never forgive myself. [Sniffles] >From now on, no matter what I do... whether I'm at the office or walking down the street or lying in bed at night... ...I will always have the knowledge that I'm the reason my son is dead. And whenever I look Hope in the eyes... I'll know she feels the same way. She'll always blame me.

Billie: Bo, I don't know what to say.

Bo: There's --

Billie: Are those c-cops here because --

Bo: They're heading the investigation, yeah. A couple of rookies fresh out of the academy. Hope thinks they're making a horrible mistake. They're good kids. They're doing everything exactly right. They followed a lead from the scene to Max's garage to my truck. And now they're pushing me to tell them who the driver is.

Billie: You can't do it, Bo. You can't incriminate our daughter.

Austin: Nicole, I have always appreciated your honesty and your candor, but my relationship with Carrie is none of your business.

Nicole: Okay. Don't get bent out of shape. I'm only looking out for your interests and being an impartial observer.

Austin: Impartial observer? I hired you to take care of my business interests. But as far as my personal life is concerned, if I haven't made myself clear enough, butt out..

Nicole: [Scoffs] Fine. We'll stick to business.

Austin: Thank you.

Nicole: You know, I have been working 24-7 to make sure everything's lined up for you to take over Highstyle today.

Austin: I know, and you have done an amazing job.

Nicole: You're damn right I have. While you and Sami were out at the stones concert and planning New Year's Eve parties and going out on platonic dates, I have been busting my ass to make sure this deal goes down today.

Austin: And you have made your point.

Sami: Again.

Austin: Listen to me. Don't worry. You are going to get a ton of credit when this all goes down.

Nicole: That's not what I want. This is your company. You deserve all the credit. I'm just glad I could help you.

Sami: Actually, Austin, I agree with Nicole. I think that everyone should know that you are the one behind this takeover.

Carrie: Hi, Becky. It's way too early for you -- well, it's way too early for you to be in the office. Is it even light there?

Becky: I've been calling since last night, but you haven't answered your cellphone.

Carrie: I was out, and I didn't have my phone with me. Did you hear my cellphone ring last night?

Lucas: No. No, I didnít.

Carrie: Plus, I-I think that it was turned off. Is everything okay?

Becky: Not really. Carrie, I really hate to tell you this, but there were rumblings late yesterday that somebody's about to take over the company.

Carrie: Take over my company? No!

[Monitor beeping]

Shawn D.: It couldn't have been.

Belle: What?

Shawn D.: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you.

Belle: I can't believe I fell asleep.

Shawn D.: Yeah, I did, too. We're both exhausted.

Belle: Yeah, I guess so. She still has a fever.

Shawn D.: Claire will be okay.

Belle: What did you just say?

Shawn D.: Cl-- I don't know. I just -- I just have this feeling. I-I just know that she's gonna be all right.

Belle: [Exhales sharply] Me too. [Chuckles] I had the weirdest dream..

Shawn D.: I did, too. I saw Zach.

Belle: Oh, my God. I-I did, too.

Shawn D.: I don't believe it. We had the same dream.

Belle: Maybe it's just because we both miss him, you know? And we're praying for Claire so hard. And that's why I was really surprised to hear you say that Claire will be okay, because, in my dream, well, that's what Zach said.

Shawn D.: I'm getting the chills here because that's exactly what he said to me.

Belle: Maybe it wasn't a dream.

Shawn D.: You know, he also said... that you and I...

Belle: Were meant to be together.

Shawn D.: Yeah, but, uh, you just said that Claire's fever hasn't broken, and we both know that Zach couldn't have possibly been here, so can we believe anything that he said in our dreams?

Belle: [Chuckles] No. No. Of course not. But -- but, you know, we can pray that what Zach said will happen and that Claire's gonna make it.

Claire: [Crying]

Belle: What's happening? Shh. Sweetie, it's okay. You're gonna be okay. Just hang on.

Carrie: I can't lose my company. It means everything to me.

Lucas: I know. I know it does. Why do you think I called off Titan's takeover?

Carrie: I can't believe that this is happening. I mean, no one even had the decency to call me -- to talk to me about a merger or acquisition. So the only other possibility is that someone had to buy up my stock and steal my company right from underneath me. I can't even imagine who would do something like that.

Lucas: Someone who is soulless and heartless -- a shark.

Nicole: Okay, Sami. Um, what's going on with you?

Sami: What do you mean?

Nicole: Well, ever since we started working for Austin, you have craved recognition -- always wanting Austin to stroke you and praise you for your nonexistent efforts.

Sami: [Scoffs]

Nicole: Just wait. But now today, when we're about to take over Highstyle, you agree that Austin should get all the credit?

Sami: Look, I thought that taking over Highstyle was a bad idea from the beginning, and I didn't want to have anything to do with it.

Nicole: But that's never stopped you from taking the credit before.

Sami: This is Austin's company. Obviously, he should take credit for it. Look, as long as Austin knows that I work hard and that he can trust me, that's all that matters to me.

Nicole: Hmm. Mm-hmm.

Austin: Ladies, here we go.

Nicole: Oh.

Austin: One click of the button, and we're online, and we start the takeover. Let's count down together. Okay, ready?

Nicole: Okay.

Austin: [Exhales deeply] Okay, 5...

Together: 4...3...2...1.

Nicole: Ding ding ding ding!

Austin: [Exhales deeply]

Nicole: [Chuckles]

Belle: So, what's wrong with her? Is she in pain?

Nurse: No. I think she was crying because she's hungry.

Belle: Hungry?

Shawn D.: That's a good sign, right?

Nurse: Yes, I'd say it's a very good sign. Her fever has broken.

Belle: So she's not rejecting the transplant?

Nurse: It's too soon to tell for sure, but we're definitely headed in the right direction.

Shawn D.: Zach.

Belle: She's gonna be okay. She's gonna live.

Shawn D.: Everything that Zach said is coming true. Almost.

Bo: Look, listen to me.

Billie: Bo, we have got to keep her out of this. You're a cop. There has to be a way.

Bo: And you were a cop. You know I can't cover this up or lie about it -- not to Hope, not to the authorities.

Billie: But this is our daughter.

Bo: And she killed my son. You can't ask me this now.

Billie: How are you gonna feel when our little girl is in jail or when Hope blames you for what happened to Zach?

Bo: I blame myself. If I had done things differently, he would still be alive.

Billie: That's not true. Come on. You know it's not your fault.

Bo: Billie, Billie. The truth is gonna come out one way or the other. Because if me, Max, you, and Chelsea all get busted for covering up a hit-and-run, all our lives are over. Now, how could you think I would jeopardize so many people? I would dishonor my family, dishonor Zach?

Billie: I don't know.

Bo: I got to go check on Hope.

Chelsea: Mom, what's going on?

Billie: Bo won't lie for you.

Chelsea: Of course not. Just like he wouldn't go to traffic court --

Billie: Stop it. Don't you dare -- don't you dare get mad at your father for not wanting to cover up the truth about what happened to his little boy. Think about what this is doing to him. He loves you. He loved Zach. And if you love him --

Chelsea: Mom, stop. I know, okay? [Sniffles] I'm sorry. God, I just think about little Zach watching over me right now. What must he think? [Sniffles] He must be so disappointed in me. And you know what? I don't even blame him... because I am so ashamed of myself. [Sighs] I guess there's no choice then, huh? [Sniffles]

Billie: No. The truth is gonna come out.

Chelsea: Yeah.

Billie: But I am so proud of you for what you just said about Zach -- about how he would feel. Come with me.

Chelsea: Where are we going?

Billie: Just come here.

Chelsea: Mom...

Billie: Officers?

Officer 1: Yes?

Billie: I know the name of the person who killed Detective Brady's son.

Officer 1: Who was it, ma'am?

Billie: It was me.

Sami: Carrie is gonna be really thrilled for you.

Austin: I'm gonna go tell Carrie right now.

Carrie: I will never forgive them as long as I live.

Mimi: It's strange how Belle had the same dream.

Shawn D.: Belle and I belong together.

Bo: How do I tell you that my daughter is the one that hit our son?
