[Heart monitor beeping]

Sami: Austin, I just want to ask you one more time, just one more thing about Carrie.

Austin: Sami, I really don't want to talk about it.

Sami: Yeah, but do you think that she's gonna break up with Mike or something? Do you think that you still have a chance with her?

Austin: You know what? It's none of your business.

[Telephone rings]

Carrie: Hello?

Lucas: Hey, Carrie, it's me. I just wanted to make sure we were still on for tonight.

Carrie: I put it in my datebook -- dinner with Lucas.

Lucas: Great 'cause I'm really looking forward to it. I know we used to be pretty close in the past, and I'd like it if we could be that way again.

Carrie: Lucas, are you... thinking of this as a date-date?

Lucas: [Sighs]

Zach: Shawn!

Shawn D.: Oh, hey! What's up, buddy? Come here. Oh! Give me a bear hug. I'm so happy to see you. Oh, gosh. You're getting stronger. What are you two doing here today?

Hope: Your brother's checkup.

Shawn D.: Oh, oh, you mean you're getting, like, vaccinations and blood work and needles?

Hope: Shawn --

Zach: He's just teasing, mom.

Shawn D.: Yeah. See? See? Told you. That's right. You're tougher than me anyway, buddy. So, tell me, have you made a list for Santa yet?

Hope: Well, actually, Zach's list is a lot shorter than usual this year because he knows that a lot of children in Mississippi and Louisiana lost their toys, right, honey?

Zach: In the hurricane.

Hope: Exactly, so Zach's picking out some of his own to send to them.

Shawn D.: You're a stud, buddy. Come here. Give me a hug. Come here. Oh, jeez. I didn't say kill me. God, the bear hug. I'll wrestle with you. Huh? You think you're the tough one? Hey, hey, hang on a second, okay, bud? Hang on. You okay?

Hope: Just thinking about jennifer.

Shawn D.: Yeah, I know. It's gonna be especially difficult with the holidays coming up.

Hope: It just breaks my heart that Jack Jr. will grow up not knowing his dad. How's Belle and Philip's baby? How's Claire?

Shawn D.: Um, well, they did a blood transfusion, but there's no change. Mom, if they don't see something soon --

Hope: They still don't know what's wrong?

Shawn D.: No. That's what's scary.

Hope: Oh, my God. I keep thinking this could have been your baby, Shawn.

Shawn D.: Yeah, I know. If Belle and I had gotten back together, I think about that, too.

Kate: [Thinking] It is your baby, Shawn. Sorry, but you can never know that. Belle and Philip need you out of their lives, and they need Claire to get well because that little girl is the glue that's holding their marriage together.

Belle: How is she? She's not getting any better, is she?

Philip: We can't give up. We have to keep the faith.

Marlena: John... how's the baby? Any news?

John: Yep. Glad you came back.

Marlena: Why wouldn't I come back? Belle's my daughter. I'm worried about the baby.

John: Yeah, so am I. Blood transfusions didn't work.

Marlena: Oh. Where's Belle?

John: She's in the chapel, Doc. She'll be glad to see you.

Marlena: Yeah.

Alex: Uh, John, I'd appreciate it if you didn't call her that.

John: What? Doc?

Alex: Yes.

John: Got a problem with that?

Alex: Yes, I do. It's a term of endearment, and I just -- I find it rather inappropriate.

John: Well, I'm not the only one who calls her Doc. But I'll tell you what. If it upsets Marle-- does it upset you?

Marlena: Well, I am... married to Alex, and if it bothers him, maybe you shouldn't do it.

John: Fine. No more Doc.

Marlena: It might be good for you, too.

John: How do you figure that?

Marlena: Well, because now that I'm with Alex, it might help you accept that and move on.

John: I see. So, there is no hope for the two of us. Is that it? I'm gonna give you something to think about now. Do you think it's possible that you, in some point in time, will regain your memory, and that's when you will realize that I'm the man that you love?

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

Austin: This is all I'm gonna say. Carrie meant a lot to me. She still does. And yes, since I've been back in Salem, she's been on my mind. It's where we met. It's where we fell in love.

Sami: But you understand that she is in love with Mike now.

Austin: You think I don't know that? What makes you think I don't know that? I don't understand. I just can't turn off my feelings. I wish I could, you know, bam. Okay, but if you think I'm gonna do something stupid like try to split them up, you know me better than that..

Lucas: Well, if I said yes, if I was thinking of this as a real date, would you change your mind about seeing me?

Carrie: I don't know. Maybe.

Lucas: You told me that you and Mike were finished.

Carrie: We are.

Lucas: Right. So, what's the problem?

Carrie: I'm just not sure that I'm even ready for something slightly serious.

Lucas: You think I am? After everything I've been through with Sami? Believe me, I don't want to get my heart broken again. I'll tell you what -- I'll see you in a few hours, okay?

Carrie: Perfect. Bye.

Becky: So?

Carrie: What?

Becky: Are you seeing handsome Austin's handsome brother tonight?

Carrie: We're going to dinner. No big deal.

Becky: Uh-huh.

Carrie: We're old friends. That's all.

Becky: Did I say anything? No? Okay.

Sami: I just hate thinking of you pining away for Carrie. I mean, you are an awesome guy, and you deserve to have someone who really appreciates you.

Austin: Well, I'm really glad you feel that way.

Sami: And there are a lot of available women out there.

Austin: My main focus right now is my company.

Sami: All work and no play.

Austin: Well, you don't have to worry about me, okay, because I'm not looking for someone.

Sami: What if someone finds you?

Austin: It's a no-go -- not as long as I feel the way I do about Carrie.

Lucas: [Clears throat] Austin, can I have a word with you...alone?

Sami: No. You canít.

Lucas: That's funny. I didn't ask you. I was talking to Austin.

Austin: It's okay, Sami. Just give us a minute.

Sami: What, so he can talk bad about me in front of you?

Lucas: Give it a rest. This isn't about you.

Austin: Hold on. Hold on. Look, just give us a minute. Go find Belle. I'm sure she would love to see you.

Sami: Of course.

Austin: Thank you. Okay, what's up?

Lucas: Got a surprise for you.

John: [Sighs]

Marlena: John... Doc was your wife. She was your lover. But that isn't me.

John: Oh. Come on. Knock it off. You have been Doc for years.

Marlena: But that's all lost.

John: No, those years aren't lost to me. I'm sorry.

Marlena: No, John, they're gone. They're gone. I'm married to Alex. My future is with him, and I think I owe it to him to try to rekindle what we had.

John: Uh, well, what do you think you owe me and your daughter?

Marlena: I'm sorry. My main concern has to be Alex. And I should also tell you that as soon as I'm sure that Belle and the baby are all right, Alex and I are going away.

John: Really? Where?

Marlena: I don't know.

John: You don't know. For someone who doesn't have a clue who she is or was, you're sure making a lot of decisions. It kind of sounds to me like you really don't have any hope of ever getting your memory back.

Marlena: No, I havenít.

John: Then I'm gonna ask you again. What are you gonna do when it comes back, and you realize you want to be with me?

Marlena: Well, if that happens, I'll still be married to Alex. I believe we share a very deep love that's still there.

John: [Exhales sharply]

Marlena: John, I don't want to hurt you. Oh, my gosh. I donít. But you must realize that I would never have married you or Roman if Alex hadn't disappeared. So I know you understand. That's why I have to be with him.

Sami: Mom. Oh, mom, hi.

Marlena: Sami.

Sami: What's going on?

Marlena: Oh, I think you should hear this from me.

Sami: Hear what?

Marlena: That John and I are separating.

Sami: You and John are... mom, mom, that's wonderful. I'm so happy for you. I mean, I knew you never really loved him. That's -- that's great. So you're gonna get back together with daddy?

Marlena: No, no, no. That's not what -- no, that's not happening.

Sami: But you just said that --

Marlena: I know what I said. The truth is that I'm already married... to Alex.

Sami: What? No. No way.

Sami: Mom, what do you mean you're married to Alex?

Alex: Your mother and I were married many years ago when we were both in med school.

Sami: Really? And why am I just finding out about this now?

Marlena: I just found out about it myself.

Alex: With everything your mother's been through lately, I didn't want to burden her with all this information just yet, but it seems John forced the issue.

John: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll take all the blame.

Marlena: No, no. Nobody's blaming anybody. It just -- we're trying to make the best of a bad situation.

Sami: Look, mom, you never belonged with John, but you don't belong with this guy either. It's a huge mistake. The only man that you were ever really happy with, the man that you really loved is daddy, and he is the one that you should be with.

Marlena: No, that's not going to happen.

Sami: Why not? Mom, you don't have your memory back. If you'd give it time --

Marlena: Listen, I married Alex first, and I'm going to honor my marriage vows. And I'm not turning my back on you or my family. I'm here for Belle now and the baby.

Sami: Does dad know about you and Alex?

Marlena: He knows that we're married, yes.

John: He doesn't know that she's decided to stay with him, though.

Marlena: But he'll accept that.

Sami: No, mom, he wonít.

Marlena: He's going to have to, same as John has. Look, I... I'm excusing myself. I want to go find Belle.

Sami: [Exhales sharply] [Thinking] I can't believe what my family's going through. My poor mom, married to some creep, and my sister might lose her baby. But I can't help them. No. No, I can just help myself by making sure that I end up with Austin, and that is what I'm going to do. Thank God Carrie is happily married halfway around the world.

Austin: Okay, I can see you're dying to tell me something. What is it?

Lucas: Just don't underestimate me.

Austin: That's it? I mean... that's the big surprise -- don't underestimate you?

Lucas: Well, you did in the past with the Clear Visage account. That's how I was able to steal it from you.

Austin: Okay, well, you know, we're business rivals. Sometimes you'll end up on top. Sometimes I will, but we're still brothers, right?

Lucas: Don't play the brother card on me. You've gotten the best of me in the past. It's true, but no more.

Austin: Why am I getting the feeling that you're talking about something more than business?

Lucas: I'm just putting you on notice. I plan on staying one step ahead of you.

Austin: Okay.

Belle: Daddy.

John: Oh, Izzy. Come on, baby. Hang in there, Izzy.

Belle: I'm trying.

John: How you doing, Philip?

Philip: Trying to stay positive.

Belle: It's just really hard. Lexie said that Claire's organs could fail..

John: Listen, doctors are practicing medicine. They don't have all the answers.

Belle: It was like she was trying to prepare us.

John: Shh.

Belle: I'm sorry. I feel like our family is cursed. First you lose mom, and now I could lose my baby.

Marlena: Belle. What can I do?

Belle: Just your being here helps.

Marlena: Of course I'm here. You're my daughter. She's your daughter. I thought I'd come and light a candle, say a prayer for her.

John: Got a minute?

Alex: What is it?

John: Did a little more research on you, doctor. Looks like your story checks out.

Alex: I told you it would.

John: You can't blame me for having my doubts. I mean, that story was a little... outlandish. But, as you said, when Marlena found out you were dead, she lapsed into hysterical amnesia and lost all memory of your marriage.

Alex: Well, I certainly hope this means you're accepting that it's the truth, and that you also accept the fact that I am Marlena's husband.

John: Yeah, I do.

Alex: Well, good.

John: And I'm counting on you not to take advantage of that fact.

Alex: What do you mean?

John: Well, I think you have to agree there are extenuating circumstances here. So, I'd like your word that you wonít... be intimate with her.

Alex: What?

John: I'm asking you not to sleep with her till she gets her memory back..

Kate: Lucas? I thought you had dinner plans.

Lucas: I did. I mean, I do. I do.

Kate: Well, so, something's not right.

Lucas: I don't know. I wouldn't say that. It's just I -- I found out that someone else is interested in the same woman I am.

Kate: Oh. The woman you were gonna have dinner with?

Lucas: Mm-hmm. Yeah, exactly.

Kate: Well, that's not really a problem, is it? Love is kind of like business. There's always competition. You just have to close the deal.

Lucas: Even if it's someone I know?

Kate: Yeah. Even then, you go after the woman. Show your rival no mercy.

Sami: Damn it. You know what? Why am I even worried about Carrie? She's a million miles away. Of course, with my luck, I should probably check and make sure of that. Oh.

[Telephone rings]

Carrie: Carrie Brady.

Sami: Hey, Carrie. Surprise.

Carrie: Sami?

Sami: Yeah, um, how are you?

Carrie: Why are you calling? Is something wrong?

Sami: No. Well, I mean, I guess I shouldn't say that. Wait, where are you? You sound so close.

Carrie: So do you. My global cell's amazing.

Sami: Yeah, well, I guess by now you've heard about my latest wedding-day fiasco.

Carrie: I really wanted to be at the wedding, Sami, but things have been pretty hectic here the last couple months.

Sami: Hectic? How?

Carrie: Long story. Anyhow, um, tell me about Belle. How's the baby?

Sami: How did you know about that?

Carrie: Dad told me. Um, anyway, is she doing any better?

Sami: No. No, not really.

Carrie: That's awful.

Sami: Yeah. I really feel bad for them.

Carrie: How can I help?

Sami: From Israel? I don't think there's anything you can do, Carrie.

Carrie: Do you think I should come home?

Sami: No. Carrie, you know, we have managed to survive a whole lot of terrible things since you left, the least of which was mom being accused of being a serial killer, dad being presumed dead, and now mom with her amnesia. No, I think we can manage without you. Though of course, you would come home if we needed you, wouldn't you? You're always the good sister.

Carrie: Sami...

Sami: Claire's on antibiotics. And there's nothing that anyone can do for her except sit and wait.

Carrie: Tell Belle that I'm thinking of her.

Sami: All right, if you won't do it yourself. Actually, the reason I'm calling is because I wanted to ask you how you're doing. How are Mike and Jeremy?

Carrie: They're fine. Um, but you know what? I'm really busy here at the moment. I'm working on a project, and...

Sami: Oh, yeah. Yeah, I've been really busy, too.

Carrie: I heard you were working with Nicole and Austin.

Sami: How did you know that?

Carrie: Like I said, I talk to people.

Sami: You don't have to gossip about me behind my back. You are my half sister. You're welcome to call me anytime and ask me anything you want. I'm happy to answer.

Carrie: Well, we're on the phone now. Why don't you fill me in?

Sami: Austin's company is doing really well, and, um, it's very exciting..

Carrie: I'm glad.

Sami: And we've been working out of my apartment. Austin's been living there, too.

Carrie: Yeah, I heard. Along with Nicole, right?

Sami: Who are your sources, anyway?

Carrie: They're good, huh?

Sami: Yeah, they are. Anyway, the three of us have been working together, and of course, Nicole is kind of the third wheel. I am basically Austin's go-to person.

Carrie: That's not difficult for you considering your history?

Sami: No. No, it's not difficult at all, actually. Austin and I work very well together.

Carrie: So, does he ever mention me?

Sami: No, Carrie, he doesnít. Austin doesn't bring you up at all. You know, if you are concerned that he hasn't been able to get over you, don't be. Austin's forgotten all about you.

Shawn D.: I got you real sugar.

Hope: Thanks, honey.

Shawn D.: So, I've been spending a lot of time with Claire lately.

Hope: Naturally. You're her Godfather.

Shawn D.: It's not just that. We've been watching her, mostly to give Belle and Philip a break.

Hope: That's really nice of you.

Shawn D.: It's my pleasure. She's great, but it's just seeing her as sick as she is right now and what's happening to Jack... it's putting things in perspective. You know? All the craziness I was going through, the motorcycle stuff, and, um, I don't know. That must have been really hard for you and dad.

Hope: We really worried about you.

Shawn D.: And I am so sorry, mom, for putting you through that. That's never gonna happen again. It took me long enough, right? But I finally figured out what was important -- my family, starting a family, you know, getting married.

Hope: Married?

Shawn D.: Yeah, well, you know, not right away, but I think I'm ready to, you know, get married, raise a family.

Hope: Oh. I'm -- I'm -- I'm glad that you're thinking about these things, honey. I know you were for a long time when you were with Belle. But just because Belle and Philip started a family doesn't mean --

Shawn D.: No, that's not what this is about. Yes, Mimi and I have been spending a lot of time together lately, and she's great, mom. You know, things are starting to get serious.

Hope: I see.

Shawn D.: Yeah. But Mimi cannot have kids. But she loves them just as much as I do, and she's great with Claire, so I'm thinking we'll adopt, you know? There's a lot of kids that are out there that need to find good homes and good parents who will take care of them.

Hope: You have grown up a lot, Shawn. Just listening to you, you don't know what it does to a mother, I mean, to see that she's raised... [Sighs] A wonderful... thoughtful young man.

Shawn D.: Oh.

Hope: Honey, I mean it, honestly. Your dad and I worked really hard, and we tried so hard to instill good values in you -- the values of our parents and our grandparents. We're really proud of you, Shawn. Now, if you could just go back to college --

Shawn D.: All right, all right, come on. Don't mess this up. We're having a nice conversation here.

Hope: Just one more thing, okay?

Shawn D.: Yes, go ahead.

Hope: Raising kids costs money. Just keep that in mind.

Shawn D.: I will.

Hope: Okay. Having said that, no more nagging.

Shawn D.: Thank you.

Hope: I just want the best for you, that's all.

Shawn D.: And you're gonna let me figure out what that is, right?

Hope: Looks like I'm going to have to, right? I just want you to be happy. I just love you so much, Shawn.

Shawn D.: I love you, too, mom.

Alex: You're serious?! I'm not supposed to sleep with my wife?!

John: Oh, come on, doctor. Don't act so surprised. Ever since you came back to Salem, you made damn sure that I wouldnít. In fact, you made damn sure she didn't remember anything because you knew if she remembered what we had together, you'd be history.

Alex: You're wrong, John. I want her to remember her past. I want her to remember everything. I want her to remember when she and I were first married.

John: Oh, come on, man. You two were married a long time ago and just for a short period of time. Doc and I have been married for a long time. We have children, and those are the ties that bind. And now our daughter has a daughter. She's in this hospital. She's fighting for her life, so don't you tell me to --

Marlena: All right. That's enough.

Alex: Marlena.

Marlena: Yeah, um, would you excuse us for a moment? I want to talk to John.

Alex: Okay. I'll go get some coffee.

Marlena: Thank you. This has to stop. I'm married to him. I chose him. If you can't accept that, you've got to find some way to deal --

John: I can't accept that. No, I won't because I know in my heart that we belong together. And one day, you're gonna remember everything, and then you're gonna feel the exact same way, and then what?

Lucas: So, you still think I should pursue this woman no matter what, right?

Kate: Well, if you love her, absolutely.

Lucas: It's a little early for love, but I'm not gonna rule it out. You know, maybe somewhere down the road.

Kate: Well, then I think you should do yourself a favor and get to know her better. Who knows? Sweep her off her feet, grind the competition, your rival, into the dirt.

Lucas: I gotta go.

Kate: Aw, sweetie.

Austin: Hi.

Lucas: [Thinking] Thanks for the pep talk, mom. I can't wait to see the look on your face when you find out my rival is one of your other sons.

Sami: Yeah, yeah, Austin's moving on with his life. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there were wedding bells in his near future.

Carrie: Oh. Who's the lucky woman?

Sami: I probably shouldn't say. I mean, Austin hates it when people talk about him, his personal life.

Carrie: Then why did you bring it up?

Sami: I don't know. I guess I shouldn't have. I just didn't want you to feel bad for him thinking that he was still pining over you when really, um, you know, he's a survivor. It won't be long before he's officially taken, just like you are. Anyway, um, we're all happy for him, right? That's what's most important?

Carrie: Listen, Sami, as great as it's been catching up with you, I really have to go.

Sami: Yeah, yeah. Me too. Um, oh, yeah, Austin, what is it? Oh, yeah, I'll be right there. Uh, sorry. Austin needs me. Bye.

Carrie: Ugh!

Kate: Mm. I am so glad that you're here to support your brother.

Austin: I feel really awful for Belle and Philip. It's so sad that my baby niece is so sick.

Kate: I know, honey. I know. We're just hoping for better news. Hey, look, but it's great news that you're here. You're here in Salem. How's that business of yours going, huh?

Austin: Good, good, good. You know, I mean, we got off to a rocky start, but things are looking up. I've got my eye on this company. I'm hoping to take over. If all goes well, I'll be giving Lucas and Victor a run for their money.

Kate: Oh. And you're not gonna tell me the name of the company, now, are you?

Austin: No. You're the competition, too. You know, anyhow, Nicole is working up a proposal as we speak.

Kate: Oh, well, I mean, I have to give her, her dues. She does have a good mind for business, and she's ruthless, and you're gonna need both those things in your company, now, aren't you?

Austin: Is that a compliment? I'll be sure to pass it on.

Kate: Yeah. Great. Don't bother. You know how I feel about her. But you better watch out. I can't believe you're living with her and Sami, and I can't believe they haven't killed each other 'cause they're both vipers. Honey, it's not funny. I'm concerned about you. You know, they're both after you.

Austin: You don't have to worry about me. I'm not interested because there is someone else.

Kate: What? Really? Who?

John: Ah, come on. Come on! Damn it! Ugh.

Marlena: John... oh, my gosh. You've hurt yourself.

John: It's nothing.

Marlena: Get some ice on that so it doesn't swell up.

John: That was brilliant, wasn't it? Taking out my frustration on a damn machine.

Marlena: Well, the machine won.

John: So worried about that little baby and seeing Belle in so much pain.. You know, a parent is supposed to be able to keep their kid safe.

Marlena: I know.

John: I've always been able to protect her... just like I used to be able to protect you.

[Heart monitor beeping]

Belle: Oh, God.

Carrie: I can't forget Austin.

Becky: Tell me something I don't know. Carrie, why don't you go for it?

Carrie: So much time has passed since I've seen him. I mean, what would I say? Hi, Austin, it's me. Haven't gotten over you in all these years. Still in love with you.

Becky: That's a start.

Carrie: Be serious, Becky. I can't say that.

Becky: Why not?

Carrie: I just -- I don't think it's the right time.

Becky: Well, you know, there's only one way to find out. You pick up the phone, call Austin, and tell him you want to see him again.

[Knock on door]

Carrie: Lucas...

Lucas: Uh, no one was at the desk, and I heard voices. Sorry to interrupt.

Becky: We can finish this later.

Carrie: Yeah. Something wrong?

Kate: Come on. Stop it. Don't leave me hanging. You have to tell me who this is.

Austin: I'm sorry. I cannot divulge that kind of information.

Kate: Great, well, you're gonna drive me crazy then.

Austin: Okay, well, I will tell you this -- you would approve.

Kate: Hmm. I would approve. Are you sure about that?

Austin: Positive.

Kate: Okay, well, you know, that's a good thing because that means it's not Nicole or Sami, right?

Austin: Correct.

Kate: Well, I'm gonna give you the same advice that I gave Lucas then. If you have found someone that is special who gives new meaning to your life, then I think you should go for it. Go after it.

Austin: Wait a minute. Lucas is interested in someone?

Kate: Yeah, that's what he told me.

Austin: Good for him.

Kate: Well, he's being just as secretive as you are.

Austin: Well, the woman on my mind is thousand miles away, and she doesn't even know I'm thinking about her.

Kate: Oh, honey, that doesn't sound very promising.

Austin: Plus, she's involved with someone else.

Kate: That's worse.

Austin: Well, what will be will be. When this takeover's all wrapped up, I'll go see her. If she's unhappy in her relationship, well... I will reveal my feelings for her.

Kate: Wow. You've put a lot of thought into this.

Austin: Yes, I have.

Kate: You know, honey, that makes me think that this is someone that you've -- that you've known for a while. So I would suggest that you just make your move because if you wait too long, you could lose her.

Hope: The doctor said you were so brave. You are such a big boy, honey. I'm very proud of you.

Shawn D.: Come here, buddy. I saved you one bite of Jello left.

Hope: The doctor said he was the healthiest young boy he'd ever seen.

Shawn D.: Hey. Congratulations.

Hope: And I'm a lucky mom, very lucky. Not that there haven't been exasperating moments... but I know I'm blessed. If anything ever happened to either one of you... I couldn't stand it.

Marlena: All right. I think that's enough ice for you. Hold your hand still for a second. I'll wrap it for you.

John: [Sighs]

Marlena: Is that too tight?

John: No, it's fine.

Marlena: Okay.

John: You've taken care of me a lot over the years.

Marlena: Have I?

John: I guess it's one of the perks of being married to a doctor. Wish we could always be close like this.

Marlena: Don't read too much into it, John. I'm just here for Belle and the baby.

[Heart monitor beeping]

Belle: What are we gonna do? She needs a machine to breathe.

Philip: Jennifer, how's she doing?

Belle: She's still very sick. We just sent a blood gas to see how her lungs are doing.

Philip: Honey... hey. The only thing we can do is try to stay positive. That's all we can do.

Belle: I canít. Our little girl's time is running out.

Marlena: John... I know we're both very upset about Belle's baby being so sick. But there's some things in life that we simply have to accept.

John: Well, I'm not a quitter...Marlena. I fight for what I know is right.

Marlena: Good for you. But you can't decide what's right for me. I'm married to Alex. And there's just nothing more to say about it. Oh, there you are.

Alex: Yeah. You ready?

Marlena: Yeah. Take care of that hand.

Alex: Excuse me.

Shawn D.: Give me the lollipop. Give me the lollipop.

Hope: Shawn...honey.

Shawn D.: All right, all right, all right, all right. Mom, really, you don't have anything to worry about. You just found out that Zach is the healthiest kid in Salem.

Hope: What about the country?

Shawn D.: Top three in the under-10 division, and in the over-21 division -- yours truly. Mom, you don't -- there's no more of the Evil Knievel stunts, all right? And there's not gonna be any more of the drunk driving.

Hope: Shawn.

Shawn D.: Seriously, I'm... gonna be a solid citizen from now on. You'll see.

Hope: You don't know how happy I am to hear that. I need to hug my two guys. I need to hug them right now. So watch out, Zach and Shawn, 'cause here comes mommy.

Shawn D.: [Laughs]

Belle: Claire's blood gas results weren't what we were hoping for.

Philip: What does that mean?

Belle: She's not showing much improvement on the ventilator.

Philip: You know what? I think she can feel our love. If we hang tough, she'll be able to tell, so that's what we're going to do, okay?

Kate: God. It breaks my heart to see these two suffering like this. I just pray the baby gets better.

Austin: Yeah. You should do that.

Sami: Um, Austin, you know, I was thinking... it's really not helping anyone for us to be here, and I know my presence isn't making anyone feel better, so what do you say we get back to work, huh?

Austin: Yeah. Yeah, I think you're right. Mom, we're gonna head out. Just let me know if there's any change with the baby, okay?

Kate: I will. Love you.

Austin: I love you.

Sami: [Sighs]

Kate: [Sighs] Sami, Sami -- it's always Sami. I just pray this works out with whoever this woman is that Austin is interested in. [Exhales sharply]

Carrie: Lucas... what's the matter?

Lucas: Nothing. Are you ready? Here, let me help you with that.

Carrie: Thank you.

Lucas: Now, you, my beautiful friend, you are in for a night you'll never forget.

Nicole: Power and money -- I thought that's what you wanted.

Sami: Of course I do. Who doesn't?

Nicole: Okay then. Stay out of my way and let me do what I do best.

Kate: It's gonna be a very dangerous thing I'm doing.

Nurse: What are you doing in here, ma'am?

Carrie: I feel bad about leaving Salem. I just felt it would be easier to start over someplace new.

Frankie: Are you saying it's time for me to go?

Jennifer: I think it's time for all of us to move on.
