Shawn D.: Are you sure?

Mimi: [Exhales] I am so sure.

Over the river and through the woods

to grandmother's house we go

the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh

Hope: Perfect. Gran is gonna love the website we're putting together for her Christmas present.

[Door opens] Find Chelsea?

Bo: Yeah. She and Abby are waiting out the storm over at Bonnie Lockhart's.

Hope: Good.

Bo: Oh, man. It's wet out there. What's wrong? Oh... Zach's Thanksgiving play.

Hope: He was pretty disappointed when he didn't see his dad out in the audience.

Bo: Damn.

[Thunder crashes]

Maggie: Mm. Ooh. Well, I hope Doug and Julie have sense enough to stay home. I mean, we can go through these pictures any time.

Mickey: Still bad out there?

Maggie: Mm. Yes.

Mickey: Did you try Julie's cell?

Maggie: Twice, and I couldn't get through.

[Telephone rings] Oh. Maybe. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

Jennifer: Aunt Maggie, hey. Hey, it's Jennifer.

Maggie: Oh, hi, darling. How's Jack?

Jennifer: Uh, well, right at the moment, I'm not really sure. That's why I'm calling. You see, he went out a little while ago to get me flowers, aunt Maggie, and it's so sweet, but it's so crazy. And he called me from the road. He said he was on his way home, but that was a long time ago, and I tried calling his cellphone. I could only get his voice mail.

Maggie: Now, look, I'm sure Jack is fine, and he's just probably taken shelter somewhere.

Jennifer: Yeah, you're probably right. Thanks, aunt Maggie. Bye-bye.

Frankie: Did Mickey and Maggie hear anything?

Jennifer: No. You know, it's so frustrating. Why can you talk on a cellphone all day long, and then the minute you need to speak to someone, you can't get them? There's no signal, no service. Come on, Jack. Where are you?

Julie: You know, it wasn't this bad when we started out.

Doug: It's getting so I can hardly see out the window. Maybe we better just turn around and go back home, work on Hope's project for Alice another time.

Julie: Well, Mickey and Maggie are expecting us, and Mockingbird Lane is only a couple more miles. I say we'll be just fine.

Doug: Famous last words.

Julie: Oh.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

[Thunder crashes]

Doug: I can't tell what the heck's going on. Can you?

Julie: The road's closed. Oh, I bet it's a big, bad accident. Hello, Officer. How's it going?

Officer: We're de-icing the road.

Doug: Is the road closed?

Officer: For now.

Julie: Oh, well, we'll turn around. We'll take Highway 10.

Officer: I wouldn't do that. The road shoulders are covered with black ice -- very dangerous. Try to just sit tight.

Julie: What do you mean, just sit here in our car?

Officer: As soon as we salt the roads, you'll be able to proceed to your destination. It could be a few hours.

Doug: Okay.

Julie: Thanks.

Doug: Thanks. Roll up your window, sweetheart. We need to conserve heat.

Julie: We'll have to make our own.

Doug: [Chuckles]

Bo: Oh, man. Zach was so looking forward to the Thanksgiving play, and I missed it.

Hope: It's a lot to juggle -- being dad to three kids and one of them you just found out about a few months ago.

Bo: Yeah. Sometimes I wish I could clone myself.

Hope: Mm. So do I.

Bo: [Chuckles] Yeah.

Hope: Look, I'm not asking you to neglect Chelsea, because that, I would never do. But I'm hoping you'll pay a little more attention to your sons. Well, they need you.. I'm not nagging you. Trust me. Just hear me out.

Bo: Okay.

Hope: Sometimes it seems like you completely forget they even exist.

Bo: Are you kidding me?

Hope: No.

Bo: I remember Shawn's birth like it was yesterday.

[Shawn cries] How could something so tiny be so perfect?

Hope: He's so beautiful, isn't he, Bo?

Bo: He's a miracle. That's what he is. You're a miracle, too, you know?

Hope: Oh, Bo.

Bo: Zach's birth was just as memorable.

Hope: Bo...

[Zach cries]

Bo: Hey, there, big guy.

[Zach cries]

Hope: That's what I needed to see... the man I love holding our child -- the child we created together.

Bo: Man, I wish I could have been there for Chelsea when she was growing up.

Hope: So do I.

Bo: Mm. So, how is project Alice Horton's memories coming along?

Hope: So far, so good. So far, so good. Check this out. Look at this. I got the clearance on the web domain -- www.Alicesfamilytree.Com.

Bo: You are so clever.

Hope: Let's hope that Gran gets into it.

Bo: Oh, sure she will.

Hope: I've scanned all the photos, and as soon as I pick up the ones that daddy and Julie are working on with uncle Mickey and Maggie and then add Jennifer's in, I think we'll have enough to go to the designer and put the web page together.

Bo: This is such a cool idea. No one's cooler than Mrs. H. She's gonna love this.

Hope: I hope so. Hey, check this out. Look.

[Both chuckle]

Bo: That takes me back.

Hope: Uh-huh.

Bo: You and Shawn D. and I off on the Fancy Face.

Hope: It's hard to believe that Shawn was ever that tiny.

Bo: Yeah. What else we get here? Hey. Shawn and Belle at the Last Blast dance.

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Bo: You know, ever since they were kids, I thought they belonged together.

Hope: Oh. You know what I think. So do I. Me too. But you know what?

Bo: Hmm?

Hope: Even though Belle and Philip got married and now they have a little girl, I'll always believe in my heart of hearts that she married the wrong guy.

Bo: Me too. But it's too late for them. Shawn and Mimi are getting close, and if she makes him happy, I hope it works out for them.

[Lifehouse's "you and me" plays]

What day is it?

And in what month?

This clock never seemed so alive

I can't keep up

and I can't back down

I've been losing so much time

'cause it's you and me and all of the people

with nothing to do

nothing to prove

and it's you and me and all of the people

Maggie: Hmm. Well, that was Julie.

Mickey: She finally got through. Is she all right?

Maggie: Well, she and Doug are stuck in their car until the road is salted.

Mickey: Lucky them. Come here. Mrs. Horton, I want you to know something..

Maggie: Yes?

Mickey: I love you.

Maggie: You do?

Mickey: Mm-hmm.

Maggie: I know you do. I hate to change the subject, though.

Mickey: What?

Maggie: Maybe if the roads are bad that maybe that's why Jennifer hasn't heard from Jack.

Mickey: Jack's a very resourceful guy.

Maggie: But he's ill, Mickey.

Mickey: Even so, if there's a way for him to get back to Jennifer, he will find it. You know... my dad... [Chuckles] My dad and Jack sometimes didn't get along with each other, but dad knew that Jack loved Jennifer, and that's all that mattered. Hmm.

Tom: We'll talk about Jennifer. As long as you're involved with my granddaughter, I'm very responsible for it.

Jack: I think that "involved" is, uh, that word --

Tom: Jack, Jack, you need help. Now, look. I've been carrying this around waiting for the proper time to give it to you.

Jack: A shrink? No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Headshrinker's the last thing I need.

Tom: Dr. Baker is an excellent therapist with an office right here in this hospital. Don't get up. Stay here. The meeting will resume in a few minutes. Just think about what I said. Everybody needs help some time in their life. Don't be ashamed about this.

Maggie: Hmm. Yeah, you're right. Your dad was not exactly wild about Jack.

Mickey: [Chuckles]

Maggie: But Alice, now, Alice, Alice... she was crazy about him.

Mickey: Mm-hmm.

[Both chuckle]

Alice: Believe in your heart. Don't let her go.

Maggie: Your mother gave me some very wise advice just recently.

Mickey: Oh? What was that?

Maggie: Not to give up on the man that I love.

Alice: Your marriage has been tested before, darling. Remember don Craig, hmm? And Neil Curtis? And Mickey was patient then.

Maggie: I guess you think that I should be more patient and understanding. Is that it?

Alice: Well, can you do that?

Maggie: I'm glad that I was patient with you.

Mickey: [Chuckles] It's true, you know. We have weathered our share of storms. There'll be more to come, I'm sure.

Maggie: Hmm. Well, as long as we weather them as well as Tom and Alice.

Mickey: [Chuckles]

Tom: And who needs mistletoe?

Alice: Now, Tom, you know, at our age, holding hands is supposed to be all that's left to us.

Tom: But we are a most unusual couple, you and me.

Alice: I don't know about me, but I do know about you. You are a most unusual man. Now, come on. We've got to go upstairs and get dressed if we're going to be at dinner on time. Hurry up, dear.

Maggie: There never was a more loving couple.

Jennifer: Okay, okay, now I'm really getting worried.

Frankie: All right, I know you're frustrated, but there's nothing you can do -- short of going out and looking for Jack yourself, and then Jack would kill me for letting you do that, so that's out of the question. Come on. Come with me. Let's have some tea, all right? We'll try to get your mind on something else.

Jennifer: Really? Like what?

Frankie: Well, uh... here you go. Read any good books lately?

Jennifer: Frankie, I'm a mom. I don't have time to read a book.

Frankie: Jen, there must be something you do for yourself. Come on.

Jennifer: Well, um, actually there is. Hope and I are building a website for my grandmother. You want to see it?

Frankie: Yeah.

Jennifer: Okay.

Frankie: This is cool.

Jennifer: It's an interactive family tree, and then as our family grows and changes, it will also. Is that good?

Frankie: Yeah. It's great. Look at this. Hey.

Jennifer: Yeah.

Frankie: Remember?

Jennifer: Of course I do.

Frankie: Graduation at the fishing shack?

Jennifer: Yeah.

Frankie: So, will, uh, will this end up in the, uh, in the website?

Jennifer: Well, of course it will. You were a big part of my life, Frankie.

Frankie: And I'm back.

Jennifer: Yes, you are. Thank goodness. I really don't know how I would get through all of this right now without you.

Frankie: It's gonna be all right.

[Thunder crashes]

Doug: Kind of romantic being here all alone with you like this.

Julie: Just you, me, the black ice.

Doug: [Chuckles] I know what you need -- music.

["Till there was you" plays]

No, I never heard them at all

Julie: That song. What are the chances of that song playing?

[Birds chirping]

There were birds in the sky

but I never saw them winging

no, I never saw them at all till there was you

Julie: That beautiful song never gets old.

When a man loves a woman

Julie: This must be the Horton family radio hour. I had Lucas sing that song to Sami when he proposed.

Doug: Yeah, but it didn't bring them much good luck, did it? I mean, they are split still now.

Julie: That won't last. They were meant to be together. You know, Sami told me once how she and Lucas first met.

When a man loves a woman

Lucas: Well, hello, there. What are you doing in here?

Julie: So that was it. Sami thought she loved Austin, and Lucas thought he loved Carrie. Why didn't they know from the get-go they belong together? It would have saved so much heartache.

Father, hear our prayer for Carrie and Austin, who today are united in marriage before your altar.

Carrie: [Gasps] Oh, no.

Austin: Sami and Lucas?

Julie: Poor Sami. She manages to mess up every single good thing that's happened to her.

Doug: And anyone else's way, too.

Julie: Well, I still believe she really loves Lucas, and I really hope the two of them will end up together.

Doug: Me too.

Lucas: Maybe we saw a side to each other... that we never saw before. I know I saw a person who hurt and loved more deeply than anyone I have ever seen in my life. Yet, she is reluctant to marry me... reluctant to trust me. And I'm hoping this will change her mind.

Julie: [Chuckles] Lucas and Sami all over. Their fights, their ups, their downs -- sometimes it reminds me a little bit of...

Doug: Us?

Julie: Mm-hmm.

Doug: Well, yeah, but we're still together. I mean, we -- we still got it, baby. They -- Sami and Lucas, they should be so lucky.

Oh, you tell me that you love me

you gonna hold me tight

Mimi: [Chuckles] This is just weird.

Shawn D.: Weird? I thought this was great.

Mimi: Great, yes. Oh, my God. I just, you know, I think back to you and me years ago, and I just never thought in my wildest dreams that we would have ever, you know, did what we just did.

Shawn D.: You never thought about it?

Mimi: Of course I thought about it. I got down on my knees and begged you to take me to the Last Blast dance, which was so mortifying.

Shawn D.: That's, like, the most flattering thing that's ever happened to me.

Mimi: Really?

Shawn D.: Especially the fact that I had a crush on you.

Maggie: Oh. Can you hold this for me, sweetheart?

Mickey: Sure. Ooh. Hoo-ooh.

Maggie: [Chuckles]

Mickey: So, what do you got there?

Maggie: Well, you know how popular scrapbooking is these days, and when.... whoa. When I was murdered by the Salem Stalker, which is something I would just as soon not remember...

Mickey: Of course.

Maggie: ...I thought about starting a photo album of all of the Horton tree-trimming parties.

Mickey: Mm-hmm.

Maggie: And I was thinking that Hope might like to use some of these pictures on her website for Alice.

Mickey: Oh, sure.

Tom: Every Christmas, we do this to remember, well, what it's all about -- how important the time is. It's about friends, family, and love. And each time we hang an ornament, let's think of that particular person just for that moment.

["What child is this" plays]

Tom: Well, we did it. One more year together.

Maggie: Oh. Oh.

Mickey: Mm.

Maggie: [Sighs]

Jennifer: You know what's so funny? A lot of couples break up, and they never see each other ever again. I am so glad that we stayed friends.

Frankie: We don't have to face tomorrow until tomorrow, do we? Hmm? You are so beautiful. So beautiful.

Frankie: That time will always be a part of who I am.

Jennifer: Me too. God. [Chuckles] Look at that. Wow. You know, it's so funny. It definitely was not love at first sight for me and Jack.

Jennifer: Jack, wait a minute. This is important to me, and it's important to a lot of other people, too. If you just saw her... this is an important story.

Jack: I'm not arguing with you. It is an important story. I never said it wasn’t.

Jennifer: So you're gonna let me do this?

Jack: No. You already have an assignment.

Jennifer: I know I do, Jack, but this piece is --

Jack: Is so big that it's too big for you to handle. That's why I'm giving it to Vern to give to somebody with more experience who can really do it justice. But don't worry, Jennifer. You're gonna make your brownie points. I've been thinking about it, and maybe I was expecting too much from you, so I'm going to give you till tomorrow morning to get that piece done, but if it's not done by then, you won't even work here part time. Do I make myself perfectly clear?

Jennifer: Crystal clear.

Jack: Good. Good. Now, I think if you hurry and get a little bit done now, you still may make cheerleading practice. Hmm?

Jennifer: Ugh!

[Exhales sharply]

Jennifer: [Sighs] I really had no idea that I would ever fall in love with Jack.

Jennifer: Why do you keep fighting me, Jack? Why can't you just give in to what you want?

Jack: I want you to go. I want to be alone.

Jennifer: You don't want to be alone. You want me to be with you. You're just to afraid to say it, Jack.

Jack: You're putting words in my mouth.

Jennifer: Then let's see if your body can do the talking, Jack, okay? All right? What do you want?

Jack: I don't want this.

Jennifer: No?

Jack: Yes. No. No.

Jennifer: Really?

Jack: Yes. I mean, no. Mmm. Mmm.

Jennifer: [Exhales sharply] No one ever drove me as crazy as Jack Deveraux.

[Liquid pouring] And you know what? No one ever made me as happy as him either. Oh, I was so young when I met him. And I thought that we were gonna have so many years together. It was supposed to be forever.

Jennifer: Now we will feel no rain, for each of us will be shelter to each other. And now we will feel no cold, for each of us will be warmth to each other.

Jack: Now there will be no loneliness.

Both: We are two bodies, but there is one life before us and one home.

Jennifer: [Sighs] I don't even know what I'm gonna do without him. [Voice breaking] How do I -- how do I go on without Jack?

Frankie: Come here.

Mimi: You don't have to say stuff like that, Shawn. You were in love with Belle. You didn't even know I existed in high school.

Shawn D.: I was very aware of what a sweet person you were.

Mimi: Sweet. Uh-huh. Like I said.

Shawn D.: And beautiful.

Mimi: You thought I was beautiful? Really?

Shawn D.: Yeah. Why are you surprised? You are. You know, I did kiss you before I ever kissed Belle.

Shawn D.: Mon petit chez fleur.

Mimi: You know, I was crushing on you all through high school, even when I was with Kevin, even after you were my best friend's boyfriend. I mean, I never acted on it, obviously. I just can't believe I'm finally getting my wish. What about you, though? I need you to be honest with me. If... if you could trade places with Philip right now, would you?

Bo: You don't stop wanting to help your kids just because they're old enough to vote or drive or drink a beer.

Hope: Of course not. I've always said that.

Bo: Mm-hmm. Sure.

Hope: But if we're too overprotective, they will never learn from their mistakes, right?

Bo: Yes. Just like we learned from our mistakes. You remember when you were 18, and your dad caught us in bed together?

Hope: [Gasps] Oh, my God. He was so furious. He was so angry.

Bo: Oh, man.

Hope: Oh, Bo. Oh, I love you so much.

Bo: Oh, Hope.

[Pounding on door] Oh.

Doug: Open up, Bo Brady, or I swear I'll kick this door down.

Hope: That's my father!

Bo: Good thing your dad didn't have a weapon that night. I would have lost something important to me.

Hope: [Laughs] It all worked out in the end, though, didn't it?

Bo: Yes, it did.

["The wedding march" plays]

Hope: My dad and my grandfather both knew you were the only man I would ever love.

Bo: Mm-hmm.

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Bo: And no matter what or who tries to come between us, we always seem to come back together.

Hope: I love you, Brady.

Bo: And I love you, Fancy Face.

[Thunder crashes]

Doug: Darling...

Julie: Hmm?

Doug: Looks like they're about to open the road.

Julie: Mmm. I don't want to drive on. I want to be like this with you forever and ever.

Doug: Yeah, well, sorry, sweetheart. You'll just get a ticket if you don't move.

Julie: Yeah. Ohhh. Okay. So, the next question is, are we going to go home or are we going to drive on to Mickey and Maggie's?

Doug: I just thought of another question. Are you girls putting pictures of Marlena and John on Alice's website?

Julie: Just 'cause Marlena can't remember all her family and friends in Salem doesn't mean that we are not remembering her.

Doug: Well, she's unforgettable.

Julie: [Sighs] She's been through so much.

John: I love you, Doc.

Marlena: I love you, too.

Julie: Marlena and John -- what a love story.

Doug: [Sighs] Yes, but they've been through too many narrow escapes. I think it finally took its toll.

Julie: A love like that does not die. Do you remember the time that she came back to John after Stefano had held her for such a long time?

Doug: Mm-hmm.

Marlena: [Gasps]

John: Oh, God, Doc, it's you. Oh, my God. It's you.

Marlena: [Sobs]

John: Oh, my -- oh, my God. Oh, my God.

Doug: If Marlena could just remember who I was, I would give her a stern talking-to about abandoning this man that we all know she loves.

Julie: Oh, Doug, darling, if only it were that easy. You know, there is another woman who is pretty desperate over John right now.

Doug: Dear Kate.

John: [Groans softly]

Kate: Hey. How's your back?

John: My back's doing better. It's my heart that needs some work.

Kate: I know. Mine too. Look... our granddaughter, she's gonna be okay.

John: Yeah. I'm gonna go check on the baby.

Kate: Oh, my God. I can't take all this waiting. I have to see what's going on. Oh, my God. This can't be true.

Hope: This is going to be so awesome, isn't it?

Bo: Mrs. H. is gonna love it...except for one thing.

Hope: What? What is it? What's wrong? Did I forget something?

Bo: Yes, you did.

Hope: What?

Bo: Our wedding vows.

Hope: True love's the gift that God hath given to man alone beneath the heaven. The silver link, the silver tie, which heart to heart... and mind to mind... in body and in soul can bind.

Mickey: Let's all make ourselves comfortable, and I'm going to get the hot chocolate.

Doug: Well, Mickey, I think I'm gonna join you.

Julie: Pictures, pictures, pictures.

Maggie: Oh. You know, I've been figuring that between all of us, we have 40 years of photos.

Julie: [Gasps] 40 years?

Maggie: Yes.

Julie: Maggie, you don't think this is gonna depress grandma, do you? 40 years gone.

Maggie: Oh. But they're not gone. And they're never gonna be forgotten. [ Sighs] Each precious moment is in all of our hearts -- each and every one of us.

Shawn D.: I wouldn't change places with anyone. I like where I am... and who I'm with.

Kate: I'm gonna have to protect my family any way I can.

Alex: You look pale. Why don't you let me take you home?

Marlena: I'm worried about my little girl and about her little girl.

Alex: Marlena... University Hospital has a very wonderful, caring staff.

Marlena: Yes, I know, but what if something --

Alex: Unh-unh-unh-unh-unh. Let's not think that way. Let's be positive. Now, you sure you don't want to leave?

Marlena: I'm sure. I'm sure of something else, too.

Alex: What's that?

Marlena: I know who I want to spend the rest of my life with.

Lexie: I'm so sorry. I wish I had better news.

Belle: She's gonna die, isn't she?

Jennifer: Come on, Jack. Please pick up. Please.

Hope: Hello. I'm Kristal Alfonso. On behalf of all of us here in Salem in front of the cameras and behind the scenes, I am so glad you could be with us today to share some of the magical memories of the first 40 years of "Days of Our Lives." If you would like to relive some of these memories and more, log on to

Marlena: I have something to tell you. It's very important.

John: Is it good news or not?

Kate: Please, God, let me be wrong, 'cause if it's true, it's going to destroy them.

Shawn D.: There's something I want to say to you.

Mimi: If you're gonna tell me that you love me, don't.

Jennifer: Now I can't get Frankie either.

Frankie: Someone went off the bridge. Oh, God, no.
