Billie: One. Two. Three. Come on, Jack. Come back to us, Jack. Jack! Jack! Jack! Jack! He's dead.

Jack: Hey. I did it. I killed myself. I'm dead. To conquer death, you merely have to die. Question is -- am I headed to hell?

Sophie: Not only are you a wildly successful executive, you are an excellent driver.

Lucas: Well, thank you very much.

Sophie: Um, I see Will's already gone.

Lucas: Yeah.

Sophie: I'm starting to get very suspicious about you.

Lucas: Really? Why?

Sophie: Because this is the second time I've spent the night, and both times, Will has had a sleep over with a friend. What do you do? Sneak him a phone call and let him know you're bringing someone home?

Lucas: Ha. "Someone home." That's pretty funny. You actually are the only one, and I asked you over here when I knew will wasn't gonna be here.

Sophie: You're a cool dad.

Lucas: Yes.

Sophie: But, um, now it's time to warm you up.

Lucas: Ooh. Okay.

Sophie: I feel like celebrating. We were awesome tonight.

Lucas: Weren't we? I can't believe we did that. I can't believe we blackmailed Lulu. You really came through for me tonight. Thank you.

Sophie: We make a great team.

Lucas: Yeah, we do. When Sami, Nicole, and Austin find out they lost the Clear Visage account, and I pulled the rug right out from under them... man, that company's gonna sink so fast, they won't have time to put on life preservers.

Sophie: Winning is such a turn-on, isn't it?

Lucas: I agree.

Austin: I am so excited. What a difference a few hours makes. We walked out of here believing our company had a future.

Sami: And now we own the world.

Austin: Thanks to you. You are the whole reason why we beat Lucas and Titan out for clear visage. Mm!

Sami: [Shrieks] Austin!

Austin: That gives us major collateral for our new company to -- whoo -- take off.

Nicole: Yeah, hey, there. Wow, speaking of take off, don't you think we should start moving our files and computers over to the new office space?

Austin: Yeah, actually.

Sami: I think I'm gonna telecommute.

Nicole: You're the receptionist, for God's sake. What, do you plan on making coffee by remote?

Sami: I am not just a receptionist, right, Austin? And besides, I could have the coffee delivered.

Austin: Hey, you know what? I hate the fact that it's Brandon's loft, too, but we just have to let that go. It is a great space, and we're leasing it. And right now, I gotta go online, secure some major loans, lock in a low interest rate tonight. That would have been a huge risk a few hours ago. But with this new contract on its way, we'll get approved no problem.

Sami: Look, I realize that no one here thinks that my opinion in business means anything.

Austin: That's not true.

Sami: Even after what happened today.

Nicole: It was just dumb luck that we got that account.

Sami: Fine. Don't listen to me. I just want to make sure that we're not overextending. I mean, we haven't actually signed that contract with Clear Visage yet.

Austin: It is a done deal. Now we gotta do this deal.

Nicole: Excuse me.

Sami: [Sighs]

Will: [Coughing]

Sami: Will, honey, what's wrong?

Will: Leave me alone.

Sami: Will.

Marlena: Please, don't make me ask you again. I need you to leave. I gotta talk to Alex. We need some time alone.

Kate: John...

John: Just hold on a second. You know, I don't believe for a second this cock-and-bull story that you're Marlena's husband. It's kind of convenient for you, isn't it? She's blocked all this out with hysterical amnesia, and then you show up after all these years and... damn, what do you know? She's got amnesia all over again.

Alex: John, I wasn't the cause of it.

John: No, but you're taking advantage of it, and you're not gonna get away with it.

Kate: You really do need to make a decision. You can't keep these two men hanging on like this.

Marlena: I know. I'm not trying to. I guess you're right. I do have to make a choice very soon.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

Alex: I won't take advantage of Marlena in her condition. I've waited too many years to be back with her again, not knowing if it would ever happen.

John: You know, if you had that many years to think about it, you could have come up with a better story. Who's really gonna believe it that you and Marlena met and fell in love in medical school and that you worked undercover for the government, shot down on a top-secret special-OPS mission, missing, presumed dead... and then when Marlena finds out about it, she what? Lapses into hysterical amnesia and that accounts for the fact she never mentioned you to anybody before now?

Alex: It's no more farfetched than anything else that's ever happened in her life or yours or Roman's. So, she forgot about her life with me just as she's forgotten about her life with you and Roman now. There's one thing I realized when I came here to treat her. Her children are grown. She is at a crossroad. She doesn't know. She's not sure which man from the past she loves.

John: So you saw this as your one and only opportunity to reclaim what was denied you all those years ago. Is that about how it shakes out?

Alex: Yeah. That's about how it shakes out.

John: Well, you're not gonna succeed in selling your pack of lies to my wife.

Marlena: Do you believe Alex?

Kate: He sounded convincing.

Marlena: Yeah. I thought so, too. I've gotta know for sure. I've gotta talk to him alone one more time.

Kate: Marlena, John is a very good man. If you choose Alex, he's going to -- he's gonna be heartbroken.

Marlena: I know John has very deep feelings for me. He also has feelings for you. The two of you got engaged when Roman and I were presumed dead. Maybe if it turns out that I do end up with my first husband, my first love... maybe John could find happiness with you again.

Nicole: Austin, I got a small up-and-coming company that's got strong earnings, but the profits aren't up to potential.

Austin: So, what do you think? Ripe for a takeover?

Nicole: Well, I mean, take a look. In my opinion, if we want control of this company, we need to move now. We need to secure a major loan.

Austin: I agree. You're ambitious. You got big plans.

Nicole: Please don't tell me you're just noticing that now. Yes, I do. If we act fast, I am so confident that we will beat Lucas and Titan.

Austin: One account is just a start. We may have won the Clear Visage account, but Titan is still a major corporation. Believe me, losing out today hurt their ego more than anything else. It's going to be tough to compete with them.

Nicole: Yeah, of course it will. We're the new kids on the block, but what a great start. Clear Visage chose us over a major company. Trust me, Austin, one day we are gonna be bigger than titan. But first things first. We need to secure this loan so that we can use the capital for the takeover bid and then put a down payment on a new office space. What? Austin... don't tell me you're losing your edge.

Austin: It's a big risk.

Nicole: But it's worth the risk to go for the gold ring.

Austin: You mean the brass ring. Unless you're talking about a wedding band.

Lucas: You were right. Success is such an aphrodisiac. I still can't believe it. I can't believe the way you helped me turn the tables on my brother.

Sophie: Unh-unh. Let's not talk about your brother. Because right now, I am so turned on by you, and you, Lucas Roberts, are a force to be reckoned with, and I just can't wait... climb on board.

Sami: Will, honey, please don't pretend like you don't need your mother. You're sick, and I want to help you feel better. Honey, why aren't you already in bed?

Will: I was gonna spend the night upstairs at Arthur's, but then I started feeling nauseous, so I decided to come home and sleep in my own bed.

Sami: Well, that's a good idea. Honey, please, let me feel your forehead.. Honey, you're burning up. I want to take your temperature.

Will: No. I don't need you to make a big deal of this. It's a fever. It'll go away.

Sami: Just let me tuck you in, okay? And I can get you something to settle your stomach. Will, the longer we stand here arguing about it, the worse you're gonna feel.

Frankie: Black ice on the road, and I think this storm's gonna keep coming up for a while.

Jennifer: Gosh, what are we gonna do?

Frankie: Stay put. I think we'd be crazy to try to drive in this.

Jennifer: I don't believe this. All right, let me call Jack and Billie and tell them what's going on. Aah! My battery's dead.

Frankie: Here.

Jennifer: Shoot.

Frankie: My phone... oh, no.

Jennifer: No signal.

Frankie: I have no signal. Sorry.

Jennifer: There you go.

Frankie: Mm-hmm.

Jennifer: Well, I guess we'll just sit here and wait out the storm, and maybe a tow truck will come by and help us out.

[Intro to Boz Scaggs "look what you've done to me" plays]

Frankie: Hey. Wait a minute. We danced to this back in the day, didn't we?

Jennifer: Yes. Can you believe that? We did.

Frankie: Huh.

Jennifer: That's funny how songs do that, isn't it -- how they just take you back? I mean, almost to the day that you heard it for the very first time.

Frankie: Where you were... who you were with... and sometimes... sometimes even what you talked about at that moment.

Jennifer: Do you -- it's so funny, I just thought -- God, do you remember Mrs. Fullette, our art teacher?

Frankie: Yeah. Yeah, I remember her. Sure. What is it? What's wrong?

Jennifer: I was just thinking about something that she said. You know, she was married. She was a widow. Right after she got married, her husband had to fight in Korea, and he got killed. And I remember how much she loved him.

Frankie: That's why she was so sad. Jen, when was the last time you saw her?

Jennifer: Oh, gosh. It's probably been 10 years.

Frankie: What was she doing?

Jennifer: She was retired and... very sad. She said that she had made such a huge mistake.

Frankie: What kind of mistake?

Jennifer: That she loved her husband so much that she never wanted to be with anyone else, and... because of that, she lived a very lonely life.

Frankie: Okay. That is sad, but --

Jennifer: I mean, I wonder, is that -- is that what's gonna happen to me, I mean when Jack... oh, my gosh. I can't even believe that I am talking about my husband like this, like... like he's already gone.

Billie: Jack! Jack! Come back to us. Don't leave us. Jack! Jack!

Jack: Oh, man. Wrong color. Way wrong color. Guess I'm not going to heaven. Not that I should be surprised.

Billie: Jack! Jack! Jack! Jack! Jack! Oh, thank God you're alive! Thank God!

Jack: Are you an angel?

Billie: You're damn right, I am.

Jack: Billie, it is you.

Billie: Yes, Jack, it's me. It's me. You scared the hell out of me!

Jack: Hell. Hell.

Billie: Jack, wait.

Jack: I thought I was going to heaven, but, no, no, no. It turned into the other place really fast. It did.

Billie: You know what? Come here. Not so fast there. I think God's really mad at you.

Jack: What are you talking about?

Billie: You tried to commit suicide, but it didn't work, thank God! And now I'm gonna make you regret what you did.

Will: What's wrong?

Sami: You are not gonna see what I saw. We'll just go back to my apartment, and I --

Lucas: Sami, what the hell are you doing?

Sami: Oh, what was I doing? Lucas, what were you doing?

Austin: What is going on?

Sami: Lucas was hooking up with some chick. Will is sick, so he had to come home, and he almost saw you. He could have been scarred for life.

Lucas: He already is, thanks to you.

Will: Mom! It's okay. I know dad's been going out with Sophie. It's cool..

Austin: Hey, Will. Hey.

Will: Hi, uncle Austin. I better not shake hands with you. I think I'm coming down with something.

Austin: Okay, okay. Wow, you've gotten so tall. I'm sorry we haven't been able to hang out since I've been back, but maybe we will soon.

Will: I'd like that. I've really missed you.

Lucas: Hey, you're not feeling good, huh, buddy?

Sami: Yeah. He needs to go to bed. Oh. Uh, you, look, my son is sick, okay, so he is going to go to bed.

Will: Oh, mom, chill out, would you? Good night, you guys. Wow, Sophie, you are hot!

Sami: Oh, my God! Will, close your eyes!

Will: I was just kidding. She's not even in the room.

Sami: It's not funny.

Nicole: Come on, Austin. Let's go back to work.

Lucas: You're gonna have to burn the midnight oil pretty late to keep up with me and Titan.

Austin: I don't think so. While you're in there fooling around with Sophie, we're working. So anytime you want to get back in the game, just let me know. I'm totally up for the challenge.

Lucas: Go. Go with them. What are you waiting for?

Sami: I'm waiting because I want to make sure that my son is okay. And considering the circumstances, I think that you should ask your guest to get lost.

Nicole: Do you see that, Austin? Do you see why we will beat Titan, okay? They lost the Clear Visage account, and instead of huddling together and planning their next move with Victor, Lucas brings Sophie to his apartment. That was so funny when Will said, "Sophie is so hot." Stop laughing.

Austin: You know... I forgot how much I missed Will. It's really hard. You know, for so long I thought he was my son.

Nicole: You know, Austin, that's why I don't understand you. Sami lied to you about Will's paternity in order to trap you into marrying her. And after all the awful things that she's done to you, how can you stand to work with that witch? Sami cannot be the woman that you came back to Salem for.

Austin: You are too much. You are still fishing for a hint about this woman. Oh, man!

Nicole: I made it clear that I wanted a personal and professional relationship with you, but you are so mysterious! I don't have a clue whether it's me, Sami, or someone else. You cannot blame me for being curious.

Austin: No. No. You are driven. You... like to get what you want.

Nicole: Yes. And that's why I'm not gonna stand around here and wait for you to announce the identity of this woman you came back for. I want to know, and I want to know now.

Austin: All right. All right.

John: Real sorry to spoil your plans to be alone, Dr. North, but with this ice storm out there, I don't think Kate and I are gonna be going anywhere for quite some time.

Alex: Uh, would you ladies excuse us for a moment, please? John, can I have a word? You can come up with as many excuses as you want for not leaving. I think it's time you accept that Marlena's future is with me.

John: I don't have to accept anything. I'm warning you not to push me on that because if I find out that this is a trick, and you've been playing my wife, I'm gonna take that psychiatric toy of yours, your talisman, and to the sound of your own special hypnotic music, shove it right down your throat.

Alex: I know you're a trained killer, John. That is all in the past. There is no need for violence now. I have been nothing but truthful with you. I have shown you proof that Marlena and I are married -- that our history predates her history with you and Roman. And if she is the woman I think she is, she will be faithful to her original wedding vows. She will be true to her first love -- me.

John: You really need to reconsider this before you make the biggest mistake of your life.

Jack: [Moans]

Billie: It's a good thing Jennifer had ipecac for the baby, otherwise I'd be driving you down to the hospital to get your stomach pumped.

Jack: You talk about hell. Ahh. You have no idea how hard it was to take all those pills, and now I just have to do it all over again.

Billie: Hey! No, you don't, Jack.

Jack: Yeah?

Billie: You're still here. Don't you think there's a reason for that?

Jack: You.

Billie: No. You should have seen the look on your face when you realized that you hadn't said a final goodbye to Abby. You regretted it. Suicide is wrong, Jack. Don't do this to your family.

Jack: I was doing this for my family. I don't want to put them through the hell of watching me die this slow, excruciating death.

Billie: Hey, do you want to go to hell? Is that where you want to go? Because that's where you will go if you do this. And you will never see your family again for all of eternity.

Jack: God's the one who sentenced me to this death. If he wants to curse me and damn me some more, he doesn't have to. He's done a good job already.

Billie: Do you really want to take that chance?

Jack: Oh, please. No. Come on. No, no.

Billie: Jack, Jack. Jennifer wants to be with you, and Abby wants to have every minute she can with her father. What about Jack Junior? What about Jack Junior? He's gonna be speaking soon. Do you really want to miss out on the first time he says "daddy"? Stop making yourself suffer, jack. Quit being a martyr.

Jack: I'm not. This is for Jennifer. She -- aah! Aah! Ahh.

Billie: Okay.

Jack: Oh, that's it. Okay, Billie, this is what it's gonna be like now. This is what it's gonna be like from now on. I can't stop. I can't even dull it anymore. This is what they're gonna see. I can't hide it from Jennifer or the kids. Aah! Aah! They're gonna see me lose every scrap of dignity. This is what they're gonna see.

Billie: Oh.

Jack: Aah! I didn't want them to remember me this way. Now you've done this. You ruined it all. You ruined it a-- aah!

Frankie: I know this is difficult. Don't give up on your life or your future. You know, Jen... Mrs. Fullette's life didn't turn out as bad as you think.

Jennifer: What do you mean? How do you know?

Frankie: I saw her.

Jennifer: You did? When?

Frankie: A few years ago. In New York, I bumped into her and coach Olsen.. You remember him. He was the gym teacher, basketball coach.

Jennifer: Yeah.

Frankie: They were on their honeymoon.

Jennifer: What?! Mrs. Fullette and Coach Olsen got married?!

Frankie: Mm-hmm. Yes, they did.

Jennifer: Oh!

Frankie: Want to know something else?

Jennifer: What?

Frankie: I'm not making this up.

Jennifer: Okay. [Laughs]

Frankie: They were high school sweethearts. She was his prom date.

Jennifer: How was the prom? Was it fun?

Frankie: Truth? This is a lot more fun.

Jennifer: You think so?

Frankie: Most definitely.

I won't cry

I won't cry

no, I won't shed a tear

just as long as you stand, stand by me

and darling, darling, stand by me

Frankie: Obviously, she fell in love with another man. It took 30 years, but Coach Olsen never stopped loving her.

Jennifer: He waited for her all that time?

Frankie: There was no one else for him. The moral is -- sometimes after a real tragedy, good things can happen. I mean, look at them. They found each other, and now they're together, and they're both very happy.

Jennifer: Yeah. That's great. I am so happy for them. I really don't think anything like that could ever happen for me, though.

John: Don't make this mistake with Alex.

Marlena: I need to do this, John. I've got to try to remember the past I had with Alex from the beginning. It's the only chance I have of being whole.

John: If he gets you alone, he's just gonna draw you into this world of make-believe that only you think you recognize.

Marlena: It is the only way I have of getting my memory back.

John: Okay. But if anything goes wrong, I'll be right there. And as you remember more about your past, maybe you can remember more about the love and life that we shared.

Marlena: I do remember that.

Austin: All right. All right. Um... I'll tell you about this woman. She's not impatient.

Nicole: Well, that eliminates Sami. What?

Austin: She's not pushy. She doesn't put her agenda above other people's..

Nicole: Okay, I see your point.

Austin: I'm not gonna tell you who this woman is...

Nicole: ...Until you get your company off the ground. Fine. Fine. Just gives me greater motivation to work harder.

Austin: I appreciate that.

Nicole: Mm-hmm. So, would you please sign our business loans and give me the green light to lease our new office space and start renovating? Oh, plus I need you to initiate that bid. Um, Austin, I... I just -- I want you to be a success, okay? So you can pursue your personal life. You happy now?

Austin: Do you know I think you're a great sport?

Nicole: Yes. And I want you to know that I'm doing this under the premise that you're not yanking my chain, and I'm gonna be the one.

Austin: Uh, well, you know, whatever works. Let's hit it.

Nicole: Okay. You know what? Sami's not back yet.

Austin: I'm sure she's still worried about Will.

Nicole: [Sighs] You know what would be great? If Lucas forgave Sami and they got back together. I know you would never stand in the way of the three of them being a family.

Austin: Let's hope that never happens.

Nicole: Why?

Austin: Because Sami could switch and tell Lucas our plans.

Nicole: She's already done that. We are better off when Sami starts working for the enemy. And when it's just the two of us... the future is ours.

Sami: Okay, Will, open up. Under your tongue.

Sophie: Lucas?

Lucas: Yeah.

Sophie: I know you're worried about Will, so I'll get out of your way, okay?

Lucas: Yeah, but what about the storm? You shouldn't be driving.

Sophie: I'll catch a train, and I can leave my car in the parking lot overnight. I'll be fine. Okay? I'll take a rain check. And, um, we can do this again some other time.

Lucas: Thanks for understanding. Be careful, okay?

Sophie: Okay.

Sami: Okay. Oh, my God. 102! Will, you are burning up. Okay, we need to get you some cough syrup, and then I'll heat you up some chicken soup.

Will: Mom, stop babying me.

Sami: I will as soon as I get you the chicken soup. Now come on. Let's get you into bed. Um, put your pj's on, and I'll bring the soup right in.

Lucas: What do you think? A flu?

Sami: It's been going around. Don't let him eat too much. He said he was nauseous.

Lucas: All right, chicken soup, a few crackers, water, and a ginger ale like... like we used to.

Sami: Yeah, you know what to do.

Lucas: Wait a minute. You have no business touching that.

Jennifer: You know, after loving Jack for so many years... and spending so much time together, and then, how much we meant to each other... I would never expect to find love like that again.

Frankie: I know Jack belongs in a special place in your heart. But you know, Jen, I think -- I think once Mrs. Fullette realized she didn't have to replace her husband, it freed her, and she was able to move along with her life.

Jennifer: Sure. 30 years later.

Frankie: Coach Olsen, when he was in New York, he gave me a piece of advice. He said... "never give up hope. Things will work out."

Jennifer: Yeah. But Mrs. Fullette was not dying of an incurable disease. She was available. But I do agree with him on the not giving up part because I pray for a miracle every day for Jack. What was that about, anyway?

Frankie: What?

Jennifer: Coach Olsen telling you never to give up. What was that about?

Frankie: I -- I don't remember. It was years ago.

[Horn honks] Wow. Speaking of miracles. It's a salt truck. All we gotta do is get behind it, and he'll get us home. I realize I'm not the professional driver my brother is, but I promise I will get you home safe.

Jennifer: Well, thank you. I always feel very safe with you, Frankie.

[Engine turns over]

Jack: [Gasping] All right. Now, you listen to me. You cannot tell Jennifer what I almost did tonight. That would ruin everything.

Billie: But it'd be okay if she walked in here and found you dead on the floor?

Jack: Billie. It's gonna happen soon enough anyway, so please, please... please don't tell anyone, please. Please.

Billie: All right.

Jack: Thank you. Thank you.

Billie: But I'm not doing it for you. I'm doing it for Jennifer because if she ever found out that you tried to kill yourself, I don't think she'd ever forgive you, Jack. And I don't want her to go through that kind of pain.

Jack: Exactly. Exactly. I just didn't want to worry her anymore. I thought -- aah.

Billie: Jack. Jack. Damn it.

Jack: [Gasping] You need to be lying down.

Jack: Aah.

Jennifer: Jack? Jack, what's happening?

Jack: Aah. My toe. My toe. I stubbed my toe. I was trying to get to the door to get you, and I almost fell. Billie caught me.

Jennifer: I was so afraid I was losing you there. You okay?

Jack: Oh. I'm fine. It was just literally my toe.

Jennifer: Where's your slippers?

Jack: I must have left them upstairs.

Jennifer: We'll need to make sure you have a pair down here. You can't be walking around doing this.

Jack: No, no, no.

Jennifer: Are you sure it's okay?

Jack: You didn't find Abigail.

Jennifer: Yes, I did. I talked to Abigail. She's fine. She's at Chelsea's house.

Billie: Thank god. We started to worry about you guys.

Frankie: We got stuck in the ice storm. Luckily a salt truck came along, and here we are.

Jack: Good. Everything worked out then.

Jennifer: Everything's good. Just lie down and rest. You're okay. It's all right. I just gotta make sure --

Frankie: What the hell's going on? What happened?

Billie: I got to him just in time.

Frankie: You know what? I knew he would try something stupid like that. I'm just glad you were here.

Billie: Let's just hope he doesn't try and do it again. He's in horrible pain.

Jack: I'm so glad to see you. I'm so see you.

Jennifer: I'm glad to see you, too. You say that like you thought you'd never see me again, though. It's okay.

Sami: Lucas, those look like legal documents.

Lucas: I don't care if they look like restaurant menus. This is none of your business.

Sami: I was just going to hand them to you.

Lucas: No, you weren’t. You were trying to sneak a peek. I know you. I'm not ready to show you yet. I want you and everyone else to be surprised.

Nicole: Austin, we got a lot done tonight. We got the loans, capital to stage a takeover, and enough left over to cover the expenses for the lease and renovations for the new offices. We have lift-off. Congratulations!

Austin: It's a big step. No turning back now.

Nicole: Austin, I cannot wait for your company to be a huge success and for you to announce the woman you came back to Salem for. And it better be me.

Kate: Alex... if you are playing mind games with Marlena, god help you.

Alex: Marlena is my wife. I love her, and when she decides to be with me, hopefully we will all be able to live happily ever after. Come on, Kate. Why don't you admit it? You're the one who's not being honest here. Maybe not even with yourself. There's a definite upside for you in all of this. Don't miss out on the opportunity to be with the man you love.

Marlena: John, as you know, I do have some memories of my life with you. But I need to be honest. I don't recall the deep bond and love that I must have felt with you to be married to you.

John: And you remember the bond and the love that you had with Alex?

Marlena: I do. I remember the deep feeling of love for him.

Nicole: If it were anyone but Sami...

Austin: There's a side of Sami that not a lot of people get to see either, and it's what I love about her.

Sami: What?

Lucas: You're falling for Austin again.

Marlena: Aah! Aah! Aah! Aah! Aah!

John: Aah. No, no, no. Don't touch me.

Kate: What?
