Alex: I'm glad you could meet me here. We have something very important to discuss.

Shawn D.: You are...the sweetest, funniest...

Mimi: Yeah, I've been a real laugh riot tonight.

Shawn D.: ...Most talkative, in a good way, and kindest, and not just to furry animals or cute babies. You're the most giving woman that I know. Mimi, you worry about where polar bears are gonna go when the ice caps melt, okay? You -- you love your mother no matter how nuts she makes you. And you will stay up to all hours of the night when a friend just needs to talk. You... you are everything that a man looks for in a partner. And you are incredibly worthy of love.

Mimi: Do you really mean that?

Shawn D.: Yeah. I do.

Sami: Dad, these cuffs are too tight.

Cop: Commander, your daughter's under arrest...

Roman: Is the F.B.I. gonna get involved in the case?

Cop: ...How about the Homeland Security Department?

Roman: Sami, what's it feel like being a traitor?

Cop: Did somebody pay you to do it or do you just hate America?

Sami: No, I don't! I love my country!

Cop: Then why'd you betray it?

Roman: All right, that's enough! That's enough! What the hell is going on here?

Cop: I'm sorry, Commander. They've been camped out all morning. I tried to warn you, but I kept getting your voice mail.

Cop: How about a little something we can go with, Commander?

Roman: There will be no official statement today. That's it -- no statement! Do you got that? When I got one, you'll be the first to know.

[Indistinct shouting]

Roman: Shut that door.

Sami: [Breathing heavily] Thank you, dad.

Roman: Well, don't thank me yet, Sami. You're in a hell of a lot of trouble.

Sami: But you're gonna help me, right?

Roman: I told you, it's out of my hands.

[Indistinct shouting]

Roman: My God, Kate. What the hell are you doing here?

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

Roman: got no reason to be here.

Sami: Nobody wants you here, especially since this is all your fault.

Kate: Oh, still blaming everyone else for your mistake, Sami?

Sami: Oh, I am blaming you... bitch.

Roman: Sami, just don't look at her.

Sami: She is a bitch, dad. And it is all her fault that I am here.

Kate: Oh, right. Like I forced you to put on the Stan disguise so you could betray your family and your friends and your country.

Sami: I swear to God, if I end up in jail, you will be in the cell next to me -- whatever I have to do to make that happen.

Kate: So it's true. She is under arrest?

Austin: Yes, mom. It's true. And like Roman said, there is no reason for you to be here.

Kate: That's true. You're absolutely true. Do you mind driving me home?

Austin: I'm sorry, mom, but I can't do that.

Kate: Yes, you can do that.

Austin: No. Sami needs me.

Kate: What?

Austin: You heard me.

Kate: Yes, I did hear you. I don't want to believe you.

[Indistinct shouting]

Mickey: I came as soon as I got Austin's message. [Sighs] And I assume that you haven't been interrogating my client without her attorney being present.

Roman: Mickey, of course not. She's my daughter.

Mickey: And you haven't volunteered any information?

Sami: Nothing more than I already said.

Mickey: Good. So, what are the charges?

Roman: Well...treason to start with. The D.A. hasn't decided what other charges to add to the indictment, but unfortunately, it could be a very long list.

John: I love you, too, sweetheart. And don't worry. I'll keep you posted every step of the way. Just give that baby a big hug and kiss for me, okay? Okay. [Sighs] [Chuckling] Damn. How long does it take for Gloriane to do her hair?

[Cellphone rings]

John: Tek, North made a move yet?

Tek: Yeah, my guy said he left the penthouse a few minutes ago.

John: All right, heading where?

Tek: Well, I don't know. That's the bad news. He lost the tail.

John: Tek, I want you to find him. Keep that man away from Marlena. Damn it, something's not right here. She's been in there far too long.

Marlena: Well, you know what? I didn't tell John that I was leaving the salon.

Alex: It's all right. John will be fine.

Marlena: He'll be worried about me.

Alex: You can call him later. Meanwhile, you know you're perfectly safe here with me.

Marlena: Of course. I'm always safe with you.

Alex: Exactly. So you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Marlena: No. Nothing.

Alex: And by the way...Gloriane did a lovely job on your hair.

Marlena: It was just a trim.

Alex: Oh. You look very beautiful. But then again, you always look beautiful. But then that's something John has never told you enough. That's why you've never felt secure in his love. But you are beautiful -- both inside and out. And from now on, you don't need Gloriane to make you feel that way.

Marlena: [Chuckles]

Alex: As long as you're with me, you will be loved for who you are and not what you look like. That's how you know love is real. And true. And forever.

Marlena: True love?

Alex: Mm-hmm. There is something I need you to do. Something very important.

Mimi: Okay, stop, Mimi. Stop. Can't start obsessing about it. Shawn and I are friends. That's all. That's all. He was just trying to cheer me up. Okay, I need to start thinking about something else. Like [Sighs] Like... pancakes. Pancakes -- food is always a good distraction. And God, do I need one right now.

Shawn D.: Need one what?

Roman: All right, if you'll all excuse me now, except Mickey of course, we need to question Sami now.

Austin: I'm gonna be waiting right out here.

Sami: Thank you.

Kate: So will I.

Roman: Look, this could take a while. I suggest you both go home.

Kate: No, I understand that, but after you have finished interrogating Sami, I have some more information for you, Roman.

Sami: Oh, really? How about some information about how you drugged me and Brandon and put us in bed together and made it look like we slept together? Dad, why aren't you pressing charges against her? She obviously broke tons of laws.

Roman: Sami, let's worry about your case right now.

Kate: I think that's really good advice, because between what Roman knows and what I'm about to tell him, you're not going to be seeing the light of day for a long time, Sami.

Roman: What the hell are you talking about, Kate?

Kate: You'll see.

Mickey: Roman, listen, about -- about this interrogation, perhaps it would be better if we let someone else handle it, hmm?

Austin: You know what? I think Mickey's right. There's not only the legal conflict of interest -- I mean, think about that emotional toll, I mean, this could have on both of you.

Roman: This is my job as father and cop, and I'm going to do it.

Sami: We both know that you have nothing more to say to my father.

Kate: Oh, really? What about the fact that Stan helped John with his back pain when Marlena and Roman were still imprisoned? Can we say the words "drug dealer," Sami?

Sami: John doesn't want anyone to find out about that, does he? And besides, you don't have any proof.

Kate: We'll see about that.

Sami: Look, if we're gonna do this interrogation, let's just do it.

Mickey: No, Sami. Wait.

Kate: We need to talk, Austin.

Austin: Now is not the time.

Kate: No, now is the perfect time.

Austin: How did you even know I'd be here?

Kate: I didnít. But when I heard Sami was gonna be charged...

Austin: So you just rushed here to offer your assistance?

Kate: Yeah, and it's a good thing I did because I can see she's already getting her hooks into you again, isn't she?

Austin: I don't need to listen to this.

Kate: I don't understand this. What is it about you and Lucas that you're always looking for the good in Sami, because let me tell you, there is no good to be found.

Austin: Go home.

Kate: [Sighs] She ruined your life once. Please, please don't let her do it again. Look what she did to Lucas and Will.

Austin: From what I hear, that was just as much your fault as it was hers.

Kate: She's playing you.

Austin: I can take care of myself.

Kate: You have been in town for less than 12 hours and already she's manipulated you into spending the night with her.

Austin: I didn't spend the night with her. I stayed at her apartment on the couch.

Kate: Really? The same night that she and Lucas were supposed to be celebrating their wedding night? I think she got over that pretty fast, don't you?

Austin: No, she didnít. That's why she needed me.

Kate: [Chuckling] I just don't understand why my two otherwise intelligent sons are willing to drop everything and rush to Sami's side every time she bats her eyelashes. Is the sex really that good?

Austin: You know I love you, mom. But for the sake of our relationship, we are not going to continue this conversation.

Kate: But you --

Austin: Like I said, I think it would be best if you just left.

Kate: I am not leaving, and we are having this conversation.

Austin: You want to know what it is about Sami that makes me want to help her? She is a fellow human being, and she's in trouble.

Kate: Oh, I see. So you want to be a humanitarian? Then you need to help someone who's in need, Austin.

Austin: Sami's had a tough enough life.

Kate: [Laughing] Oh, my God. Give me a break, will you? She does not even know what the word "tough" means.

Austin: I am going to be here for her because I'm not gonna abandon someone in trouble. She doesn't have anyone else she can count on.

Kate: She has Mickey Horton.

Austin: Having a lawyer is not the same thing as having a friend.

Kate: A friend? A friend? After everything she's done to you, are you out of your mind?

Austin: Mom, don't do this. Please, doní this.

Kate: A friend? She is a pathological liar who only thinks about herself.. She is willing to do and to say anything into manipulating people into what she wants them to do.

Austin: I know who and what Sami is. And I also know what it's like to feel totally alone and have no one else to count on. I am not going to abandon her.

Kate: Honey, she is not alone. No matter what she says, she has her family, Austin.

Austin: Belle is busy with her baby. Eric and Carrie didn't even bother coming to the wedding. And her mother's got amnesia. Her father just arrested her and is now in there interrogating her.

Kate: He is doing his job.

Austin: Exactly, which keeps him from being her father, giving her a hug, a shoulder to cry on, and that's exactly why she needs me.

Kate: What she needs is to be put away before she hurts anyone else.

Austin: I don't expect you to understand.

Kate: Well, that's good. Because I donít.

Austin: I have to do this. I don't want to fight with you anymore, and if you cannot deal with that, then you should just leave.

Sami: Dad, as the Police Commander, I know that you didn't want anyone to think that you're giving your daughter special treatment, but the Miranda Rights and the handcuffs?

Roman: Sami, Sami. Do I have your permission to record our conversation?

Sami: Dad, I'm not some criminal. I'm your daughter.

Roman: Sami, this is a yes or no question.

Mickey: All right, as long as a copy is made available to us.

Roman: Absolutely.

Sami: Dad, I know I pretended to be someone else, and I know it was wrong, but, come on.

Roman: Sami, come on. Cheating at hopscotch is wrong. What you did was illegal. And the way it looks, you're going away to prison for a very long time.

Shawn D.: So, what do you need?

Mimi: Pancakes. I need pancakes. I'm starving. I can make you some, too. I think there's even blueberries in the fridge.

Shawn D.: Yeah, that sounds good, yeah. Great.

Mimi: So, um...what have you got planned for today?

Shawn D.: Today, today, let's see -- well, I got to go get a second job. Not that I don't love working for your mom, 'cause I do. It's just I'm barely making enough money to get by right now.

Mimi: Yeah, tell me about it. Working for tips sucks. I thought about getting a second job myself, but with my class load, I just don't think I could handle it.

Shawn D.: So, are we gonna talk about it?

Mimi: About what?

Shawn D.: About the kiss. And how good it felt.

Gloriane: Oh, sorry, honey. The stylist who does men's hair isn't here right now. But there's a barber shop about three blocks down.

John: I'm John Black, Marlena Evans' husband.

Gloriane: Oh, Mr. Black. Oh, I've certainly heard a lot about you over the years. It's so sad about what's happened to Marlena -- this whole amnesia thing.

John: Yeah, yeah, it is.

Gloriane: But don't worry. You know, a character on one of my shows got amnesia a couple years ago, and she's fine now.

John: Where is she?

Gloriane: Oh, she left.

John: She left?

Gloriane: Yeah, I was making her a cup of tea and when I came back in, um, she left without paying or saying goodbye or anything. I don't know. She must have gone out the back door, I guess.

John: The back door, that way?

Gloriane: Thank you, yeah. Uh...I'm sure she's fine.

Marlena: There's something you need me to do?

Alex: Yes, and it's very important. Look out!

Kate: I spent the past year trying to make Lucas see who and what Sami is, and believe me, I will spend three times that amount of time talking sense into you.

Austin: Save your breath, mother. There is nothing that you can tell me about Sami that I don't already know.

Kate: Don't be so sure.

Sami: Dad, I can't go back to prison. Tell him. Tell him it's not my fault. Please, dad, and besides, I have to take care of Will.

Roman: Sami, Will doesn't even live with you anymore. Lucas doesn't want anything to do with you because you aided and abetted Tony DiMera.

Sami: But I didn't know that it was tony until it was too late.

Roman: You put Lucas, Rex, Shawn, Philip, and Brady in danger in that war zone.

Sami: Dad, I saved them.

Roman: Sami, what you did over there is -- damn it, this isn't easy. What you did was commit treason. It's a federal offense.

Mickey: He's right. It is.

Roman: And it could... carry the death penalty.

John: Damn it, Doc, you knew I was waiting for you. Where'd you disappear to? More important, why?

Marlena: Oh, my goodness.

Alex: You all right?

Guy: Sorry about that. Are you okay?

Alex: Are you okay? What are you talking about, is she okay? What are you doing on the sidewalk? You should be out in the street with that bicycle. Do you realize you could have seriously --

Guy: Look, buddy, chill. A cab swerved, and it was either come up on the sidewalk or get slammed.

Marlena: I'm all right. That's okay. Thanks for stopping.

Alex: No, it's not okay. Go on, get the hell out of here. Go on.

Marlena: You saved my life. How do I ever thank you for that?

Alex: You don't have to thank me. It's thanks enough that you're all right.

Marlena: I'm okay. I'm always -- I'm always safe when I'm with you.

Alex: Yes. Yes, you are. Let's go inside where we'll both be safe.

Marlena: Oh! No cyclists in here, huh?

Alex: At least in here, we don't have to worry about getting run over by another crazed cyclist.

Marlena: Oh, my. [Sighs] You know what?

Alex: I'm just glad I was there to protect you.

Marlena: So am I. So am I.

Alex: And if I hadn't looked up when I did, it's just -- the important thing is that you're safe. That's all that matters.

Marlena: I'm safe. I should call John and let him know that I'm all right, though.

Alex: Yes, you can, but before you do, I called you here because I'm worried about your recovery.

Marlena: You are?

Alex: Yes. Ever since we left my cabin and came back to Salem, things have been happening here that severely hindered your progress. And if they continue, they can have a serious impact on your long-term prognosis.

Marlena: You mean I might not ever get my memory back?

Alex: Unless certain things change, that's very possible.

Marlena: Then what has to change? We should make those changes. What do we have to do? Just let me know what -- what changes?

Alex: I'm glad you asked that. It's still not too late to stop long as you do exactly what I say.

Mimi: You...thought the kiss felt good?

Shawn D.: Yeah, yeah. I mean, you know, maybe we just needed to, um...relax and distract ourselves.

Mimi: Distract ourselves?

Shawn D.: Yes, well, you know, we had a really hard day. We had gone to yet another wedding, even though it didn't happen, and there was the terrorist threat and finishing up at the hospital with Belle having her baby and seeing her baby, and Philip and her -- that brought up a bunch of stuff for both of us.

Mimi: Yeah, sure did.

Shawn D.: And you were there for me through all of that, and I will never forget that.

Mimi: Shawn, we were there for each other. Okay, look... about...the kiss.

Shawn D.: Yeah, about that. Um, for was like a shock treatment.

Mimi: Why doesn't that sound like a good thing?

Shawn D.: No, um, it-it-it is a good thing. It was good. Um...'cause it made me realize that my relationship with Belle is, you know, it's in the past. It's in the past, you know? And I've moved on.

Mimi: Thanks to me?

Shawn D.: Yeah. You know, um, last night was the first time that I haven't had a dream about Belle.

Mimi: Really? You didn't?

Shawn D.: No, I dreamt about us.

Mimi: You did, really?

Shawn D.: Yeah, yeah. Well, you and I have been having so much fun together as roommates and working together, so if you would have told me a couple months ago that belle and I -- you know, I would have a life without her...

Mimi: Well, you've shown me the possibility that there's life without Rex. So I guess...I guess we're gonna be okay.

Shawn D.: Yeah, I think we're gonna be okay. So, about that kiss. I, uh....I'm really sorry. I think it never should have happened, and it was a total mistake.

Alex's voice: There's something I need you to do.

John: Been worried about you. Hey, what happened? Why'd you sneak out the back door of the salon?

Marlena: I don't know. Oh. I guess I came to get a drink.

John: Gloriane said that she was making you tea when you disappeared.

Marlena: Oh. I don't think I knew that. No, I guess I just -- I was getting thirsty, and I wanted to go and get a cold drink, and so this must have been the closest place to the back door.

John: Yeah. Guess so. So, where's your drink?

Marlena: [Laughs] I guess it hasn't arrived yet.

John: You okay?

Marlena: Yeah. I'm -- yes. Don't I seem okay?

John: You look beautiful. Gloriane did a good job.

Marlena: I'm more than a hairdo, you know?

John: I know that. Have you talked to belle today?

Marlena: No, no, I havenít. I want to go see her, and I want to see the baby.

John: That's a good idea, yeah.

Marlena: Yeah. She's a beautiful baby, isn't she?

John: Yeah. Got your eyes.

Marlena: She does? Have mine? [Laughing] Oh! Really?

John: There's no doubt about it, yeah.

Marlena: Oh, my! I think...Belle and Philip seem happy, hmm?

John: Come on, our baby has a baby. It's all good... for the whole family.

Marlena: Yeah.

Mimi: What do you mean the kiss was a mistake? I thought you said it helped you.

Shawn D.: It did. Uh, it just -- grabbing you like that, um, I was only thinking of myself, and I didn't stop to think how uncomfortable I could be making you feel.

Mimi: I wasn't uncomfortable.

Shawn D.: You weren't? Well, it's just -- two friends kissing under the stars like that, I mean, that kind of stuff just happens in the movies.

Mimi: Then why did you do it?

Shawn D.: I don't know. I just, uh, it felt right at the time. You know, seemed like a good idea.

Mimi: Felt right to me, too, at the time.

Shawn D.: You know all that stuff I said about you being a wonderful person, I meant all of it.

Mimi: Thanks.

Shawn D.: All right, good, 'cause I don't want to mess up anything between us, you know, our friendship.

Mimi: No, no, no. Shawn, nothing's messed up. Um...the may have initiated it, but, you know, it wasn't exactly one-sided. We kissed each other. And it's not like it was a "kiss" kiss. It was totally innocent. So...

Shawn D.: Cool, good. Like I said, I wouldn't want to ruin our friendship.

Mimi: Well, we're still friends, okay? It's really no big deal at all. The only thing that's weird is having to keep talking about it, so I'm gonna start the pancakes.

Shawn D.: Okay.

Marlena: I think you're right. I think Belle's very comfortable being a mom. And she's got those first-mom jitters, but she's got really good instincts.

John: Of course she does. It's not really surprising. After all, she had the perfect role model. You know, I wasn't around for Belle in the beginning. I mean, we all thought that she was Roman's daughter.

Marlena: Did you -- did you...tell me that before?

John: Doesn't really matter. Bottom line is you were always a perfect mother.

Marlena: I want to buy some presents for the baby and something really girly for Belle. Something to make her feel special.

John: There's another good idea.

Marlena: Belle's had a baby. Oh, my gosh! [Laughing] We're grandparents!

John: Yes, we are.

Marlena: And that baby has my eyes. You said that. You said so.

John: I don't think we have had a conversation this normal since before you --

Marlena: Before the amnesia, yeah.

John: Yeah. Feels good.

Marlena: It feels so good.

John: I think we are on the verge of a breakthrough here.

Marlena: Gosh, I hope so. John...did I ever save anything from when Belle was a baby, like clothes or toys or anything?

John: [Laughing] Are you kidding me? The storage locker's full of them..

Marlena: Oh, good. I'd like to look at them and see if we could take something to give Belle for the baby.

John: Oh, Izzy would love it. I'll help you go through them.

Marlena: Okay. Why did, um....why do you call her Izzy and not Belle?

John: Well...Izzy, Belle. Short for Isabella.

Marlena: Oh, oh. Do I call her Izzy?

John: No. It's just my thing.

Marlena: Why?

John: Well, we named Belle after Isabella Toscana Black, my first wife. She died of cancer right after she delivered Brady.

Marlena: Oh. Well, then that means that I'm the only mother Brady has ever known.

John: Yeah.

Alex: Hello, John.

John: What are you doing here, North?

Alex: Always so suspicious. No doubt rooted in some traumatic episode from your past.

John: Not necessarily.

Alex: I really do think you should seek out the help of a specialist. I mean, he could help you work through that. I guarantee you'll be a much happier man.

John: Well, you're a specialist. Why don't you make me happy by telling me what you're doing here.

Alex: Well, I was sitting over there, noticed the two of you sitting here coffee less. Thought that I'd bring you some.

Marlena: That is so sweet of you.

Alex: My pleasure. So, how was your visit to the beauty salon?

Marlena: John thinks I look very nice.

Alex: Does he? Well, good for you. Although that is a rather predictable husband response.

John: You know, if you don't mind, I was having a private conversation with Marlena.

Alex: I'm sorry. I didn't realize that. Would you like me to leave?

Marlena: You know what? I know how much you worry about me. I think I'm perfectly safe with John. So, um, yeah, you may go if you like.

Austin: I'll walk you out.

Kate: Listen to me. Just listen to me. Roman may not know what charges are going to be filed against Sami, but I have a pretty good idea, okay?

Austin: Mm-hmm.

Kate: While in the war zone, Sami knowingly aided and abetted Tony DiMera, a known criminal, a wanted fugitive. She put your three brothers lives at risk, including Shawn and Brady. She's just as guilty as Tony of committing many, many crimes over there, and she needs to go to prison. She needs to go to prison for the rest of her life.

Austin: Wait a minute. What did you just say?

Kate: I said she needs to go to prison for the rest of her life.

Austin: No, no, no. Before that about everything that Sami did.

Kate: I said she committed a lot of crimes over there with Tony, and that's why she's under arrest now.

Austin: Exactly. Oh, mom...that's it.

Shawn D.: Okay, you know, I'm gonna jump in the shower and get changed.

Mimi: Okay, but don't take too long.

Shawn D.: Okay. I wonít. So, everything's cool with us, right?

Mimi: Yes, it is as far as I'm concerned. Like I said, Shawn, the kiss was nice, but it didn't mean anything to me. These need more blueberries.

Shawn D.: [Thinking] It sure as hell meant something to me.

Sami: The death penalty? Dad, no. No, this can't be happening, not again..

Mickey: Sami, Sami, Sami, calm down.

Sami: No, no, I can't go back there. I won't go back there. Dad, please, listen to me. I didn't know what was happening, okay? I didn't know that Tony set me up. I thought just some nice stranger was helping me get revenge on Kate for what she did to me. Damn it, I know it was wrong for me to become someone else, but it wasn't illegal. I did not commit treason, dad!

Mickey: You have to control yourself and stop talking. Now listen to me. Roman is not here as your father. He is here as a police commander, and he has read you your Miranda Rights, and anything you say can be used against you.

Roman: Mickey, Mickey! It's all right. It's all right. Everything is off the record until the tape starts recording.

Mickey: Thank you.

Sami: Oh, God, dad, what about mom? I mean, she's already going through so much.

Mickey: Sami, calm down.

Sami: And Will. Just think about Will. He is so humiliated and hurt already. How is my son gonna cope with this?

Roman: Sami. You should have thought of that before you did what you did..

Sami: I'm not going back to death row, dad. I swear to you, I will kill myself first. Do you hear me? I will kill myself first.

Austin: I don't believe it. It was staring me in the face the whole time.. I just couldn't see it.

Kate: You couldn't see what? What are you talking about?

Austin: I'm talking about you. I mean, you did it, mom. You did it.

Kate: Austin, I did what?

Austin: You saved Sami.

Kate: I did not.

Austin: I know you didn't mean to, but you did. You just showed me how all the charges against Sami can be dropped. She is going to get off, and it's all thanks to you.

Alex: If you're sure you don't need me here for the moment, of course I'll leave.

Marlena: I'll be fine. Really.

Alex: Okay. Then I will see you later.

Marlena: Yeah.

John: Thank you.

Marlena: See you later.

John: Damn. I'm proud of you. You stood up to him. And these feelings that you're having about Belle and the baby, I think we're starting to get somewhere. I know you don't remember everything right now, but you're trying, and it's paying off. I don't give a damn what the doctor says.

Marlena: It isn't about Dr. North. It's about us.

John: That's right. We were having such a great conversation before he so rudely interrupted. I'd like to continue it. It was so free and easy.

Marlena: Yes, it was. That's why, actually, I wanted him to go so we could keep on speaking freely. There's something that I want to say to you that I don't want to say with anyone else around.

John: My God, you are remembering. Is it about us?

Marlena: Well, it's not a memory, but it is about us.

John: What is it?

Marlena: I want a divorce.

Jennifer: This is a very serious drug. Why is my husband taking this?

Jack: I don't want to put them through the pain of watching me die. Come Halloween I'm out of here.

Kate: You are going down, and I hope you fry.

Marlena: That's why I need you out. That's why I want to be alone.

John: Notwithstanding. You're the one behind this, pal.
