Chelsea: Well, it's official. Buddy's Burger Barn still rocks.

Abby: It's kind of hard to enjoy it, though. "Oh, watch out. Don't drip. Don't spill. Watch the upholstery." You know, we should have just sat by the pool.

Chelsea: I'm sorry. I'm just trying to take care of my new car.

Abby: Oh, yeah. Right. By running into trash cans as soon as you got behind the wheel.

Chelsea: Shut up.

Abby: I still can't believe you won this car at Alice's in a dance contest.

Chelsea: Dude, I didn't just win it. I won it with Patrick. And he taught me how to master the stick.

Abby: Excuse me, but with you, mastering the stick can mean --

Chelsea: Abby, you know what I mean -- a 5-speed stick shift.

Abby: Oh. Okay.

Chelsea: You know, you have a dirty mind.

Abby: [Sighs] You know, I don't believe it, but it sounds like you're making inroads with Patrick.

Chelsea: Yeah. And I'd be a lot further down that road if Billie Reed weren't in the picture.

Billie: Hello! Hello!

Jennifer: Oh, Billie, hi. I'm so glad you could make it.

Billie: Well, thanks for inviting me to the barbecue. Here. I brought you some coleslaw. And, don't worry, I didn't make it.

Jennifer: Oh, great. I mean that you brought it, not that you didn't --

Billie: Yeah, I get it. I get it. Thanks a lot. So, um, how are things?

Jennifer: Fine. Everything's fine.

Billie: Good. And Jack?

Jennifer: He's fine, too. Billie, what is it? Is there something wrong with my husband?

Jack: Oh!

[Dog barking in distance]

Frankie: Hey, Jack. What do you say?

Jack: Oh, that sounds great. All right. Thank you.

Frankie: Sure.

Jack: Listen, thank you for hanging around here today.

Frankie: No problem.

Frankie: Jack...

Jack: What?

Frankie: Your hand.

Jack: Hmm?

Frankie: Your hand, Jack!

Jack: That's weird. I thought I smelled something burning.

Frankie: You didn't feel that?

Lucas: [Sighs] Well... Happy Birthday, Lucas. I really wish I wasn't doing this alone, but...

Lucas: [Sighs] Birthday’s should be spent with families.

[Knock on door] Hmm.

Maggie: Hi, honey.

Lucas: Oh, hi. What's wrong? What are you two doing here?

Both: Happy Birthday.

Sami: [Sighs] I cannot believe that stupid Eugenia dropped those tapes in the sewer. That's so disgusting. Well, I always knew that I was gonna have to crawl through a whole lot prove that I'm innocent, but that is just ridiculous. Well, I guess there's limits to what a person will do. Now I'm on to plan "b," and I'm gonna prove to Lucas how much I love him, and I am gonna find a way to show that I am the only woman for him. That's it. Wait a second. Okay.

Sami: [Dialing] Hi. Um, this is Sami Brady, and I need your help.

Kate: Well, there you are. I was here earlier, but you were gone.

Roman: Yeah, I left for a while. John needed to have some time with Marlena alone.

Kate: He told me.

Roman: Did he also tell you that Marlena still doesn't recognize either one of us? Where is John, anyway?

Kate: I was just on the phone with him. He's at the airport.

Roman: At the airport? What the hell's he doing there?

Kate: Well, at Dr. North's suggestion, he's fueling up his jet to go on a scavenger hunt of sorts.

Roman: For what?

Kate: He's going to be looking for objects from Marlena's past to help stimulate her memory.

Roman: Did he say exactly where he was going?

Kate: Several places pretty far apart. But he'll only be retrieving things that may help her -- which may help bring her back from the amnesia.

Roman: Well... she's been all over the world.

Kate: [Exhales sharply] Well, it doesn't surprise me that John would travel to the ends of the earth to help her. Could I ask you a question? Would you do the same for me?

Lexie: Do you see anything else on Marlena's chart that could help with her amnesia?

Alex: Too soon to tell.

Lexie: I wish there were more I could do.

Alex: No offense, Dr. Carver. I know you studied psychiatry in med school, but your knowledge and skill are strictly limited to your current practice. You've done everything you can to this point. I do appreciate it.

Lexie: I'm just so pleased that you were able to rearrange your busy schedule to come. I know Marlena will benefit greatly from your expertise.

Alex: So will I.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

Lucas: Thanks. So, um, what brings you two to my neck of the woods?

Maggie: Oh, come on. It's your birthday. We know that will's at camp. We didn't want you to celebrate alone.

Lucas: Thanks, aunt Maggie. It means a lot to me. And, Gran, I really love the fact that you're here. Thank you.

Maggie: So, how is your day going so far?

Lucas: My day is -- is -- it's going good. You know, it's been interesting. I found out that my brother Rex had to leave town, so...

Maggie: Oh. For good?

Lucas: I guess so. Yeah, it appears that way. He and Mimi broke up, and he accepted a job offer in Chicago.

Maggie: Oh, that's too bad. Wow. I thought they were one of those perfect couples.

Lucas: Yeah, they were. I guess that's what happens when one loses trust in the other. But I did run into Philip and Belle, and they told me they were having a baby, so I had some good news.

Maggie: I heard that. Isn't that exciting?

Lucas: It is. That's really all the birthday I needed. Now that you guys are here, everything's complete.

Maggie: Yeah. Yeah. You better have said that.

Alice: Now, dear, what about Sami?

Lucas: Well, what about her, Gran?

Alice: Well, have you thought about trying to work out your differences?

Lucas: Gran, I don't really want to talk about Sami. I apologize. It's just -- I ran into my mom earlier, and she's already been on my case about her, so I'd rather not.

Maggie: Okay. So then it will be a Sami-free birthday this year.

Lucas: Yes. That's right.

Maggie: Alice made you her special birthday cake, and it will just be the four of us to celebrate.

Lucas: Thank you. I count three. What do you mean, "four"?

Maggie: Oh, oh, oh. Julie drove us over. She got a call on her cellphone while we were in the corridor.

Julie: Sami, where are you?

Sami: I'm at my apartment. Why?

Julie: Well, what a coincidence. So am I.

Sami: Hi, Julie. What are you doing here?

Julie: Grandma and Maggie and I are delivering a birthday cake to Lucas.

Sami: Oh, um, please, come in. Are Maggie and Mrs. Horton still with Lucas?

Julie: Yes, they are, and I should be joining them, Sami.

Sami: No. Please wait. Um, I need your help, Julie.

Julie: Why? What is going on?

Sami: I would like to plan a surprise party for Lucas and show him how much I love him.

Julie: Aw, Sami. I don't know.

Sami: Oh, please. You said you knew how I felt about Lucas. You -- you believe in true love, and you said that you'd always be there if I needed anything.

Julie: That's when I thought you had stopped playing with people's lives, Sami.

Sami: I have. Look, I realize that I don't know how Lucas will react. But at the end of the day, at the very least, I'd like to have done something nice for the man that I love. Will you help me?

Julie: [Sighs] What kind of party did you have in mind?

Lucas: Cuff links. These are really cool. Knowing you, Gran, there's got to be a story behind these.

Alice: They belonged to your grandfather.

Lucas: Really? Wow.

Alice: Tom gave them to your father years ago, and now Bill wants you to have them.

Lucas: Thanks, Gran.

[Cellphone Ringing]

Lucas: Thank you so much. It means a lot to me. It does.

Maggie: Excuse me. Uhh.

Lucas: Where are you?

Julie: Ha ha. We'll go into that later. Right now, we need a bigger cake.

Maggie: Well, how big?

Julie: I'd say about 3 feet in diameter and, uh... about 5 ½ feet high?

Kate: I'm sorry, but I really need to know if you love me.

Roman: Uh-huh. And the only way I can prove that is to fly to the ends of the earth? Kate, I explained to you earlier --

Kate: Yes, I know. You said that you would fight for our marriage. But I can't help thinking I'm gonna lose you to Marlena.

Roman: Kate... listen to me. I'll say this again. I am genuinely sorry for putting you through that. But if our relationship has any chance to survive, you're gonna have to find a way to get past that.

Kate: [Exhales sharply] I don't see how with you keeping vigil here at the hospital, when you should be focusing on salvaging what remains of our relationship.

Roman: Kate, I love you, and I know you love me. But it seems to me here the issue is trust, and you're gonna have to find it in your heart to trust me, and that's the only way this marriage will survive.

Kate: [Sighs]

Roman: Will you trust me, Kate?

Alex: Head C.T. is normal.

Lexie: Right. So, why the amnesia?

Alex: I'm not ruling out any possibilities, but my initial assessment is that Marlena's amnesia is being caused by psychological trauma -- what she's been through the past year -- as opposed to any trauma to the brain.

Lexie: So, what kind of therapy's involved in helping her recover?

Alex: To be honest, I'm not too sure right now.

Lexie: [Sighs] She's a good friend. She's had such a rich life with her husband and her children. I'd hate to see her lose everything over this ordeal. Um, as you said, psychiatry isn't my level of expertise, but if I can be of any assistance in treating Dr. Evans, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Alex: Well, actually there is something you can do -- something that would help Marlena and me.

Jennifer: Billie, I know how close you and Jack are. Do you know something that you're not telling me?

Billie: As far as I know, Jack's just fine. Why do you ask?

Jennifer: [Sighs]

Frankie: Jack, come on. You didn't feel your hand on that grill?

Jack: Uh, no. I-I guess the grill really wasn't that hot.

Frankie: Let me look. Let me look. Well, you know what? I think this is gonna blister, Jack. There's a first-aid kit upstairs.

Jack: It's all right. I'll stick my hand in the ice.

Frankie: Yes, you will. I'm gonna get that kit. I'll be right back.

Jack: Get a little barbecue sauce while you're at it.

Lexie: Jack, I'd like to go over these test results with you.

Jack: Okay. Shoot.

Lexie: Um... okay. Uh, some of the episodes that you've been having are akin to the side effects one might experience from a neurological disorder.

Jack: Like the loss of balance?

Lexie: Yes.

Jack: Okay, okay. Well, what other fun and games am I in for?

Lexie: Well... [Sighs] You could eventually lose your sense of touch.

Jack: It's happening sooner than I thought. If I want to take care of Jennifer and my family, I have to work faster to get Jennifer to fall in love with Frankie.

Maggie: That was Julie. Um, she had to put out a few fires on some kind of investment that she and Doug are involved in. Oh!

Lucas: Whoa.

Maggie: Oh, Maggie! Oh, you klutz. I'm sorry.

Alice: No, that's perfectly all right. I do that all the time.

Lucas: [Chuckling] Yeah. Well, I don’t. Let me help you clean that up.

Maggie: I could order you a new cake from my new restaurant.

Lucas: No, it's fine. I know you got that great pastry chef over there, but I'm really not in the mood to celebrate right now.

Maggie: It's Sami, isn't it?

Julie: You are in fabulous luck. Maggie's pastry chef has exactly what we need on hand, and he is sending it over free of charge.

Sami: Free of charge? Julie, thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for helping me.

Julie: Oh, it's the least I can do. After all, I helped Lucas with his proposal to you... for all the good it did.

Sami: Oh, that's not true. Julie, that was the most romantic proposal ever. It's what happened afterward that --

Julie: You do really love him, don't you?

Sami: Yes. I love Lucas with my whole heart. And I know how hurt he was when he found me in bed with Brandon. But I didn't do it. I was set up. And I'm going to prove it to Lucas. Not just for Lucas' sake. For Will's sake, too. I'm gonna remind Lucas that we belong together.

Julie: Aw, you got me convinced.

Sami: Thank you.

Julie: Let's make it happen.

Sami: Okay.

Julie: Okay. Uh, who else are we inviting to the shindig?

Sami: Um, I made a list of people that I wanted to include. Um, I was hoping maybe you would call them, because if I do, they won't come.

Julie: [Chuckling] Oh, really? Sure. Sure, darling. Whatever you need. Glad to do it.

Sami: Have a seat. And I'm gonna go get ready.

Sami: [Thinking] I love you so much. I'd do anything to get you back. But what if the truth ends up breaking your heart?

Roman: [Sighs] Well, all right, Kate. Your silence pretty much answers my question. You don't trust me, do you?

Kate: [Sighs] I want to, because I do believe that you love me.

Roman: Then what's the problem?

Kate: [Sighs] Well, actually, it's simple. I think that you love Marlena more. So it doesn't matter what we do to repair our relationship, because I'm never going to be able to trust that you're going to put it first. Look, what happened to you and Marlena was terrible -- no one should have to go through that -- but I know you. And I know each and every time something happens to your precious Marlena, you're gonna want to be with her. And, frankly, I can't deal with that.

Roman: Kate, look, I'm sorry I still have feelings for Doc. I mean, my God, she was a major part of my life, and she is the mother of two of my children.

Kate: I know that, and I am sensitive to that. But she is your ex-wife. I am your wife, and if you want to stay in this marriage, then you will back away from Marlena, and you will let her husband take care of her.

Roman: Kate, I don't like ultimatums.

Kate: I don't consider this an ultimatum. I don't like them, either. This is a choice. You can choose to honor your marriage vows and stay with me, or you can choose Marlena. What's it gonna be?

Roman: I choose you. My God. I love you very, very much, and I cannot imagine my life without you.

Lexie: What can I do for you?

Alex: Well, I'm gonna help my patient and get to the root of her amnesia. I'm going to need to know her better than she knows herself. So I'd like to start with a complete medical history.

Lexie: Okay. I'll have the nurse check and see what records are available. What's not in file storage might be accessible on microfiche, but that could take a while.

Alex: We'd better put a rush on it.

Lexie: Right. Um, so, how far would you want me to go back -- a few years?

Alex: No. I want everything that dates back to Marlena's arrival in Salem.

[Footsteps approach]

Roman: Kate, she's waking up.

Lexie: Marlena, how are you feeling?

Marlena: I don’t...remember anything.

Lexie: Well, do you recognize any of these people?

Marlena: Yes. You look familiar.

[Engine running]

[Gears grind]

Chelsea: Damn it.

Abby: Hey, grind a pound for me.

Chelsea: Shut up. You know, I still can't believe that you would side with that slutbag Billie Reed over me.

Abby: I'm not siding with anyone. I'm just saying that Billie is a lot more mature and worldly than you are.

Chelsea: Thanks.

Abby: No offense, but it makes more sense to me that Patrick would rather be with a woman like Billie. She's been on all these adventures all over the world. And not only is she beautiful, but she's got brains, too.

Chelsea: Oh, in other words, I don't?

Abby: Oh, come on, Chelsea. You're barely getting out of high school. Billie could be a woman in a James Bond movie.

Chelsea: Fine. I'll show you I'm not afraid of venture.

[Engine revving]

Abby: Aah!

Billie: What is it, Jennifer? Do you...have a reason to believe that something might be wrong with Jack?

Jennifer: Yeah. I think -- I think that there could be a problem. You see, when Jack was having all those dizzy spells a long time ago, I was so afraid that I was gonna lose him again, Billie, and -- I don't know. Even after Lexie has given him this clean bill of health, I still feel like something's not right. I don't know.

Jennifer: [Voice breaking] I just hate feeling this way. But I feel like, over my shoulder, I'm constantly waiting for something terrible to happen. And you know what? The DiMeras did this to us. They did this to my family.

Billie: I know. I know. It's like we're all living in constant fear.

Jennifer: Yeah, Billie, and I love my husband. I love him so much, and I could not bear losing him again.

Frankie: All right, Jack. How you doing?

Jack: Uh, I-I'm okay. I think there's gonna be a little bit of blistering.

Frankie: Yeah. Here. Put your hand there for a second. It could have been worse. Jack, I don't understand. Sorry. Why, uh, why didn't you feel that grill?

Jack: Like I told you before, it really wasn't that hot.

Frankie: Well, according to this burn, it was hot. You want to tell me what's going on, Jack? Hmm?

Lucas: Maggie, I really wish I could stop thinking about Sami. I do. It's just she's such a huge part of my life, and she's the mother of my son, and, I don't know, I can't describe it. She makes me feel so --

Maggie: Complete?

Lucas: Yeah. I guess that's the word.

Alice: Ah. It's love, dear. Pure and simple.

Maggie: Personally, I've never been a huge fan of Sami's, but she does have some redeeming qualities. I mean, after all, she gave birth to an amazing child.

Lucas: Yeah.

Maggie: And I do think that she fell in love with you.

Lucas: Not exactly the perfect relationship, though.

Maggie: No, but your mom and Bill didn't exactly have the perfect relationship, either. In fact, certain parallels could be drawn.

Lucas: Wait a minute. Are you saying that my mom is like Sami in her own little way? Come on. No way.

Maggie: Well, let's just say that she is determined to get what she wants, and I think she wanted Bill. And despite what the affair did to Laura at the time, I am glad that Kate found Bill.

Alice: Well, me too. Otherwise, we wouldn't be celebrating your birthday, now, would we?

Lucas: No, we wouldn’t.

Maggie: Now, listen, I know Sami has done some horrible things to you, Lucas, but is it possible that she's sorry?

Lucas: Sami? Sorry? No, she's not. That's the thing. She hasn't taken responsibility to this day for anything.

Maggie: Hmm. Well, that's unfortunate. But who's to say she's not telling the truth now? If you found out that Sami was telling you the truth... would you take her back?

Lucas: No. At this point, no, I wouldn’t.

Sami: So, Julie, how's it coming?

Julie: We're making progress.

Sami: Good. Good, because we really need everyone to be there.

Julie: Of course. You want everybody to realize how much you love Lucas. The problem, my dear, is... does Lucas love you?

Sami: Yes. Yes, he does. I know he does. And when he sees my surprise, he's gonna fall in love with me all over again.

Julie: My, you seem very sure of yourself.

Sami: I am. And the best part is that there's nothing anyone can do to stop me.

Julie: Sweetheart, don't gloat about that. That's been your problem your whole life. Nobody could stop you. Let's hope you don't shoot yourself in the foot this time.

Lexie: You recognize Dr. North?

Marlena: Yes, I do. I just met him. I mean, except for that, I-I don't -- I don't know him.

Lexie: Oh.

Marlena: In fact, I don't know any of you.

Alex: Excuse me, but I'd like to have some privacy with my patient, please.

Kate: Oh, sure.

Roman: Yeah, absolutely.

Alex: Thank you.

Roman: Uh, listen, doctor. Here's my card. I'm with the Salem P.D. so if I can be of any assistance at all, just call me.

Alex: Well, I don't think that'll be necessary, but thank you.

Roman: Okay.

Alex: So, how are you feeling?

Marlena: I'm a little tired.

Alex: Well, I want you to close your eyes, get some more rest because you're going to need all your strength once you and I start working together.

Roman: Well... obviously we're not, uh, welcome in there. Listen, Kate, I-I hope you understand. I mean, I do choose you, but I can't abandon Marlena, either, I mean, especially right now when she's in such a fragile state.

Kate: Oh, I know that. I don't expect you to abandon her.

Nurse: Excuse me, Mrs. Brady. You have a phone call on the courtesy phone.

Kate: Thank you. Hello.

Julie: Kate, it's Julie Williams.

Kate: Oh. Hi, Julie.

Julie: Any news on Marlena?

Kate: Um, no. It's really the same. She can't recognize anyone.

Julie: That's just so awful, after everything she has been through.

Kate: Yes. I know. Is that the reason you're calling? Is everything okay?

Julie: Oh, yes. Everything's fine. I'm calling to let you know I'm giving a little, uh, impromptu birthday surprise party for Lucas.

Kate: Oh. Where?

Julie: His place. It would be wonderful if you and Roman could come.

Kate: Well, thank you. That would really be lovely. I think that's just the thing to cheer Lucas up. Um, when do you want us to come over there?

Julie: Uh, how about now?

Kate: We'll be over there.

Julie: Great. Okay. Roman and Kate are in. Just a few more calls to make.

Sami: Then Lucas is gonna get the birthday surprise of his life.

Roman: So, what did Julie want?

Kate: She's giving a surprise birthday party for Lucas. Do you want to go with me?

Roman: Yes, I do, as a matter of fact. So maybe it would be a good idea -- get our minds off this. Let's go.

Alex: Don't worry, Marlena. You'll be better in no time at all.

[Door opens]

Lexie: The nurse is pulling Marlena's records.

Alex: Thank you.

Lexie: How's she doing?

Alex: Oh, she's exhausted.

Lexie: So, what now?

Alex: Well, I'm considering various treatment plans for her. But once I do start the treatment, it will involve isolation.

Lexie: Well, when you say "isolation" --

Alex: Keeping her husband, John, her ex-husband, Roman, and the rest of her family away from her. It'll be just Marlena and me one-on-one.

Abby: Slow down, Chelsea.

Chelsea: No way. I'm gonna prove to you once and for all that I'm not afraid of pushing it to the limit.

Abby: Well, don't prove it to me -- not while I'm in this car. Oh, my gosh. It's finally happened. You've completely lost your mind.

[Siren wailing]

Abby: Oh, great. You're screwed.

Chelsea: I can't get pulled over.

Abby: It's too late for that. The cops are on your tail. Pull over.

Chelsea: I can't, Abby! I don't have insurance!

Abby: Oh, my God. [Gasps] We're gonna die.

Billie: Jen... no matter what comes our way, we'll deal with it. We will. But you can't live your life thinking that something is gonna happen to Jack. He'd -- he'd hate it if he knew that you felt like that.

Jennifer: I know. I know. [Sniffles] You're right. You're right. You know what? We're not gonna stand here and talk about depressing stuff, because we have a barbecue to go to.

Jack: You're right. I-I guess I've kept this a secret for too long, but, uh, I got some nerve damage to my hand when I was on the DiMera island, and -- and, uh, I haven't done anything about it, so...

Frankie: Yeah, you better get that checked out. Because the fact that you didn't feel your hand on that grill -- Jack, you got yourself a serious problem here.

Jack: You're right. And I'll do something about it. But right now, Frankie, I'd appreciate it if you'd just keep it between us and don't tell Jennifer about it.

Jennifer: Don't tell Jennifer what?

Abby: Aah! Chelsea, pull over! You're gonna get us killed!

Chelsea: I can't, Abby. I just got this car. I don't even have insurance yet.

Abby: So you're already illegal. You could lose your license and the car.

[Engine revs]

Chelsea: Hold on. We're gonna have to outrun them.

Abby: No, we can’t. They probably already called ahead. They'll have every police car in Salem chasing after us. Look out!

[Both scream]

Jennifer: What secret are you hiding, Jack? Will you please tell me what is wrong? Please.

Frankie: Mr. Barbecue here burned himself on the grill, and he was afraid if he told you that you'd make him stop grilling.

Jack: Right.

Frankie: Right.

Jennifer: Well, let me see what you did, Jack.

Jack: It's really nothing. I just got a couple blisters.

Jennifer: Maybe I should take you to the E.R.

Jack: No, it's nothing. Dr. Frankie got it all bandaged up. He took care of me.

Jennifer: [Sighs] What am I gonna do with you, Jack? Thank you, Frankie. I didn't know you were a doctor, too.

Frankie: Me neither.

Jennifer: I had no idea.

Billie: You need to tell her you're dying.

Jack: Shh! Why bother?

Billie: Oh! I know.

Jack: Look, by the time I'm gone, she's gonna be fine. She'll be taken care of, and she'll be in love with Frankie.

Alex: Excuse me.

Lexie: Dr. North, I don't mean to question you, but I don't understand why you'd want to keep Marlena away from her family and loved ones when most of the memories she's trying to recover are of the times that she spent with them.

Alex: Dr. Carver, this is not as harsh as it sounds. Right now Marlena is being bombarded with information -- her family's varied recollections of events that she has lived through in her life. It's confusing to her. It's overwhelming. And it might also be interfering with her own ability to retrieve those memories. Right now what is most important is to establish trust between doctor and patient. Emotional loved ones interfering with this therapy could cause serious damage.

Lexie: Yeah. Hmm. Yeah, I-I understand.

Alex: Good. And I trust that you will not share my treatment plan with anyone, especially until I'm through with my research and I'm ready to start working with Marlena. At that time, you and I will sit down with John and the rest of the family, and we will outline our plan of action.

Lexie: Thank you for including me in the process.

Nurse: Dr. North, I've pulled all of Dr. Evans' medical records from the file room.

Alex: Oh, thank you. How far do these go back?

Nurse: It should cover the last 15 years of Dr. Evans' life. I'll have to order the remainder off of microfiche, but I'll need Dr. Carver's authorization.

Lexie: Yeah, yeah, of course. Um, I'll do it right now. Thank you again for coming to help Marlena. I'm sure she'll be back to her old self in no time.

Alex: [Sighs] That's been my plan all along.

Maggie: So... listen, if Sami is the woman that you love, why don't you try to make amends and put the past behind you?

Lucas: [Sighs] Aunt Maggie, I have tried to forgive and forget with Sami so many times -- more times than I can count. It's just -- there's only so much you can forget, you know?

Maggie: Hmm. Maybe Sami has learned her lesson.

Lucas: I really want to believe that, but I just don't think it's gonna happen.

Kate: What are you doing here?

Eugenia: Oh, um, uh, Julie Williams called me and invited me to Lucas' for a surprise party.

Kate: [Exhales sharply] Hey.

Lucas: Hey, mom. Is something wrong? Eugenia, what are you doing here?

Kate: Well, honey, Julie called us all and invited us over for a little impromptu birthday party. Belle and Philip -- they're gonna come over later, too.

Lucas: Oh. Great. Well, come in, please.

Kate: Okay.

Maggie: Hi, Kate.

Kate: Hi, Maggie.

Maggie: Thanks for coming. I know it's kind of sudden, but if you could have seen Lucas with that little cupcake and one single candle...

Lucas: Thank you, aunt Maggie. I appreciate that. You're making me look bad. Uh, Roman, can I ask you a question real quick? I need your advice.

Roman: Sure.

[Knock on door]

Maggie: Well, let me see who else Julie has invited.

[Door opens]

Kate: Well, this certainly is an awkward crowd, isn't it?

Eugenia: Uh, yeah, which is why I brought along a friend.

Roman: Well, Lucas, I just want to say Happy Birthday to you, buddy.

Lucas: Thanks. I appreciate it. Thank you.

All: Surprise!

Lucas: Surprise? What the hell --

All: Happy Birthday to you

Happy Birthday to you

Happy Birthday, Dear Lucas

Happy Birthday to you

Sami: Surprise!

Lucas: Sami, what are you doing here?

Kate: [Sighs]

Julie: Good landing.

Sami: Lucas, I'm about to give you a birthday that you are never gonna forget.

Julie: Wonderful. Beautiful. My goodness. Ooh!

Frankie: Jen is in trouble? From who?

Jack: It's Patrick Lockhart.

Billie: Patrick! What the hell's the matter with you?

Belle: I don't know what's going on here, but something tells me it's not good.

Lucas: You want me to play it now?

Sami: I do. I think it's something that everyone's gonna want to hear.
