[Thunder rumbling]

Celeste: Oh, mon dieu.

Celeste: [Gasps] Oh, God, no.

Lexie: Abe?

Lexie: Honey? Is something wrong?

Abe: I had trouble sleeping.

Lexie: Is this about last night? Honey, it's okay.

Abe: It's not okay with me. I've always been able to satisfy you before.

Lexie: Oh, sweetheart. You still do. There are a lot of ways a husband and wife can show their love, you know.

Abe: There's only one way to make a baby. And without that, I feel like I'm half a man.

Lexie: Abe, please don't say that, okay?

Abe: Lexie, listen to me. Listen to me. You deserve more than this. You deserve more than a man who can't make love to you.

Lexie: Abe... sweetheart... I thought I would never feel your arms around me again. I thought I would never hear your voice telling me you love me. Sweetheart, you came back to me. You're alive. Oh, honey... I feel so blessed.

Abe: Lexie... I think we should get a divorce.

Craig: Right this way, Brady. We've got a surprise for you.

Nancy: Now, keep your eyes closed. Okay, now. Ta-da!

Brady: Um... wh-what's the surprise?

Nancy: You'll see. In just a moment, you're going to witness the return of someone you used to know.

Brady: The return?

Nancy: Someone you thought had died makes her return to the land of the living.

Brady: Oh, my God. I can't --

Craig: Believe it, Brady. She's come back to you.

Brady: Chloe? Chloe, are you alive?

Chloe: Yes.

Brady: I've missed you so much.

Chloe: I missed you, too, Brady.

Brady: Oh, Chloe, I never stopped loving you, not for a minute.

Nancy: Craig, wh-what's happening?

Chloe: Aah!

Nancy: Chloe?

Craig: Chloe, honey, what's wrong, sweetie?

Chloe: I can't have the surgery. I won’t.

Dr. Weiss: My O.R. nurse had to leave very suddenly after my last surgery -- a family emergency. She wasn't able to sterilize the equipment. Would you mind taking care of it for me? I have to have it ready for the Chloe Lane surgery in the morning.

Nicole: Uh, sure, no problem.

Dr. Weiss: Please be very thorough. It turns out this last patient has an extremely contagious bacterial infection.

Nicole: Bacterial infection?

Dr. Weiss: Yes, the so-called flesh-eating disease. And if that were to come in contact with Chloe during surgery... well, needless to say, the results could be disastrous.

Nicole: Disaster is exactly what I'm going for.

Woman: Nurse Baxter, where do you think you're going with that?

Rex: Are you sure this is the best route possible? The last thing we need is you leading us straight into enemy fire.

Shawn-d: This better not be a trap.

Sami: Well, you've already agreed to make sure that Philip isn't hurt. Once you've got Shawn and Rex and Brady captured, you have to promise not to hurt them, either.

Tony: What, you really care about that ragtag band of bunglers?

Sami: Well, maybe I'm going soft. I don't want it on my conscience, Tony. It's a deal breaker.

Tony: All right, Samantha. I promise they will not be hurt.

Sami: Don't worry, guys. We're in this together. If we take this route, we'll be completely safe.

Brady: All right, Lucas. You know what to do. Follow close behind us, and if our journalist friend tries anything funny, you take him out.

Lucas: Oh, man. I can't do it.

Brady: What the hell do you mean, you can't do it?

Lucas: I can't shoot him. I can't kill him after what I know.

Bart: Boss -- I mean, el bosso -- el presidente. Sir.

Tony: Get on with it, Bart.

Bart: Our battalion leader just gave me the report -- the U.S. Armed Forces are getting close.

Tony: What the hell? It wasn't my intention to go to war with the United States of America.

Bart: Not that we wouldn't give them a good go, sir, but you're right. Even the DiMera organization can't hold up to the great U.S. of A.

Tony: Which is why Sami’s got to hurry things along and get our guys quickly into my trap, 'cause the sooner they're under lock and key, the sooner I can get to the next stage of my plan. And then Sami Brady and her ragtag friends won't know what hit them.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

Lucas: That journalist has a kid. I can't shoot a father.

Brady: How the hell do you know he's a father?

Lucas: I heard him praying -- praying for his son Will.

Brady: You're sure his name was Will.

Lucas: Yeah, I'm positive. It's a crazy coincidence, isn't it, man? I can't shoot him. Think about what it would do to my son if I couldn't make it home.

Brady: Lucas. Listen to me. In this situation, it could come down to his life or ours. You're telling me you're going to choose some guy you've never even met?

Lucas: No, I'm not, all right? I'm not. I got your back. I'll be there for you. But I don't have to like it.

Brady: Look, everything is going to be fine, Lucas.

Lucas: Everybody thinks that unless they've been through a war.

Brady: Stan -- he's the man. He's going to lead us right to Philip’s bunker.

Brady: Oh, my God.

Lucas: Yeah, if we don't get mowed down by the enemy on our way there.

Tony: Ah, Bart. Would you give Fidel a message for me? Tell him his coffee is excelente, and his cigar -- very potent.

Bart: I'm on it, sir. He's sending more.

Tony: Ha ha.

[Telephone rings]

Bart: Want me to get that?

Tony: No, no, no. Just carry on. That's just Samantha checking in.

Tony: Samantha, I have you on speakerphone. So how are things in the desert?

Sami: The idiots bought the Philip dog tag thing and the map. I think they're about ready to head out to the bunker.

Tony: Well done.

Sami: Remember your promise, Tony -- you said that the guys wouldn't be harmed.

Tony: Don't worry about anything. Just concentrate on getting Rex and yourself, Brady, and Shawn across the desert in one piece.

Sami: Tony, I need you to do something for me before I take one single step.

Celeste: [Gasps] Alexandra? Abraham? Where are they? What's happening? Where's my daughter? Where's my family?

Tek: I'm sorry, but the Carver family doesn't exist anymore.

Celeste: [Gasps] Oh. [Sighs] It was only a dream. But I've got to see Alexandra with my own eyes.

Lexie: A divorce? Abe, how could you even suggest such a thing? You love me. We love each other. Sweetheart, I mean, after enduring that agonizing separation, we have a chance to be together as husband and wife, and --

Abe: But we can't be, and that's unacceptable to me.

Lexie: Okay. Okay, honey, you know what? You're scaring me, all right? So stop, okay?

Abe: Lexie, I am not the man you fell in love with.

Lexie: No, of course you're not, just like I'm not the same woman you fell in love with, Abe. We have -- we've grown, I mean, both of us -- for the better. Sweetheart, our relationship is deeper, it's more intimate. Honey... you are the only man I want.

Abe: Lexie... Lexie, I release you from your vows.

Lexie: What?

Abe: They were made with every expectation that we would have a healthy life, that I would be a full partner. But that's no longer true.

Lexie: Do the words "for better or worse" ring a bell, hmm? Sweetheart, I mean, if this is worse, I'd say we got off pretty lightly, huh? Abe, honey, things will get better, okay? In time, you'll adjust to your blindness --

Abe: Okay, Lexie, Lex-- it's not just being blind. I'M... I'm impotent. You know, I've done research, and men with this condition tend to get worse, not better. And I can't deal with the nightly ritual of disappointing my wife.

Lexie: Here -- okay, let me -- let me help you.

Abe: No, I-I can find the bathroom myself.

Lexie: [Sobbing]

Craig: Sweetheart... are you sure? Everything's all set.

Chloe: I'm positive. I'm sorry. I just can't go through with the surgery. I can't do it.

Nancy: Chloe, we could get the doctor --

Craig: Nancy, Nancy. Go find Dr. Weiss. See if he'll come in here, okay?

Chloe: You came all this way for nothing.

Craig: Aw, nothing? I'm your dad. I'm going to be here for you no matter what, sweetheart. You know that. You just got to tell me what's going on, okay? What?

Chloe: I-I had a dream. It was awful. Uh, Brady was here, and it was after the operation. They took off the bandages, and at first it seemed like the surgery was a success. I looked the way I did before the accident. And Brady was overjoyed, and he took me in his arms. But then... everything started changing. My face -- it changed into this ghoulish nightmare.

Craig: All right. That was just a bad dream. That's all it was. That's all it was. Pre-surgery jitters are very common, okay? Listen -- I'm going to have Dr. Weiss come back in here. I want him to talk to you about the surgery so you'll feel much better about the outcome, okay? Will you talk to him before you make your decision? Will you? Will you? Come on.

Chloe: Yeah, I'll talk to him.

Craig: That's my good girl.

Chloe: I'm so glad that you're here. I don't know how I would have gotten through this without you and Nancy.

Craig: Come here. Oh.

Woman: Those are Dr. Weiss's instruments. Where are you taking them, nurse Baxter?

Nicole: Uh, Dr. Weiss asked me to sterilize them last night, so I'm just bringing them to the O.R.

Woman: Sterilizing the instruments is my job. Maybe I'll do them again, just so I know they're done correctly.

Nicole: Uh, wait, you can't.

Lucas: How the hell are we going to get through all that, huh?

Brady: Looks like the enemy's all around us, Lucas. There's nothing we can do about that. We just got to make it to Philip’s bunker, keep our heads down, go from there, all right?

Lucas: All right. I'm ready. Let's do it.

Brady: Go.

Rex: All right, hey. I've secured and hidden all the equipment. If the enemy finds our camp, there'll be nothing left here to help them find us.

Shawn-d: Once we find and rescue Philip, we're going to have to hightail it out of here. Otherwise, we could end up prisoners.

Rex: You got that right.

Brady: All right, guys, Lucas is in position. He's going to follow right behind us. You ready?

Rex: Ready as we'll ever be.

Shawn-d: Wait a minute. What happened to that journalist?

Brady: What the hell do you mean, what happened to the journalist? He's got the map.

Shawn-d: Damn it!

Tony: Why are you holding me up, Samantha? I've already promised you the moon.

Sami: Information. I want to know that my son is all right. I'm not setting out into the desert where I could get shot or worse until you agree to find out if will is okay.

Tony: I'll see what I can do. Bart.

Bart: Chief! At your service, el presidente.

Tony: Would you contact my operatives in Salem and ask them to get back to me with the 411 on will Roberts? So will that suffice?

Sami: Thank you so much.

Tony: You drive a hard bargain, Samantha. Just make sure... you keep your end up. Now get moving.

Brady: Who the hell are you talking to?

[Doorbell rings]

Lexie: Tek.

Tek: I know I should have called. I'm sorry to just drop by.

Lexie: It's okay. Uh... do you want to come in?

Tek: If it's all right.

Lexie: Yeah, yeah, sure. So what brings you by?

Tek: Well, I've just been doing a lot of thinking, and if it's -- if it's all right with you, I'd like to try to clear the air with Abe.

Lexie: I think that'd be nice. You and Abe are good friends. I'd hate to see anything come between you.

Tek: Thanks. I know it's against protocol, but I want to let him know what's going on with the spears investigation.

Lexie: Yeah, well, I-I'm sure Abe would appreciate that, but I'm afraid it's too late. Detective Adams beat you to the punch. He's upstairs with Abe right now.

Celeste: Ah. Oh, Alexandra’s garden is so beautiful this morning. It's just as in my dream. Is my nightmare becoming a reality? No. No, it can't be.

[Doorbell rings]

Celeste: Oh, God, no.

Tek: Whoa.

Woman: Nurse Baxter, would you care to tell me just why I can't re-sterilize these instruments?

Nicole: Well... because I -- look, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Dr. Weiss was pretty ticked at you for leaving early last night without getting the job done.

Woman: He was?

Nicole: Yeah. You know, I know I haven't been here very long, but I have never seen him so angry. But I covered for you. I told him that you asked me to take care of sterilizing the instruments, and that seemed to calm him down. So I did -- twice, just to make sure.

Woman: Oh, thanks. I'm only a few years away from retirement, and I could have lost my job over this.

Nicole: No problem. We nurses have to stick together, right?

Woman: I assume you've had experience with the proper sterilization.

Nicole: Oh, yeah. I'm a pro. Piece of cake.

Woman: Great. Then I'll just put these in the O.R. and thanks again. I owe you one.

Nicole: Don't mention it. I'm totally happy to help.

Nancy: Nurse! Nurse, I need you to find Dr. Weiss now.

Woman #2: Dr. Weiss is due in your daughter's room right now, Mrs. Wesley.

Nancy: Oh, thank you so much.

Woman: Everything is set up in the O.R. It's time to suit up and wheel the patient into Dr. Weiss's beauty parlor.

Nicole: I'm on my way.

Brady: Get -- I asked you a question. Who the hell are you talking to?

Sami: What is there, some sort of a law against a guy talking to himself?

Brady: You were talking to yourself.

Sami: Yeah, man. You see anyone else around here?

Brady: I was just making sure you weren't telling anybody where we are.

Sami: No, wait, wait. You can believe what you want, but I'm getting sick and tired of you guys treating me like I'm some sort of bad guy.

Rex: We're ready.

Shawn-d: Everything okay here?

Brady: Yeah. Everything's fine. Let's move out.

[Radio static]

Rex: We're on our way.

Lucas: Wish me luck, buddy. I'm going to get your uncle Philip.

Bart: Boss, update from Salem. Will Roberts is in school.

Tony: What a stunning piece of news.

Bart: I just have one question.

Tony: You always do.

Bart: What are you going to tell Sami when she finds out that she's leading Lucas into your trap?

Tony: Why don't we leave that as a surprise?

Bart: Well, uh, I love surprises, sir, and I hope she does, too, because that one -- that one's going to be a doozy. Remind me never to get on your bad side. But then -- how can you have a bad side when you don't really have a good side?

Tony: Bart...

Bart: Yes, sir?

Tony: You know, you are getting to the point where you're really going to see my bad side. You're giving me a headache.

Bart: Uh, oh. Can I get you some Ibuprofen, sir?

Tony: Oh.

[Cell phone rings]

Bart: Yeah. I see. Boss, I got a feeling your headache's going to get a lot worse.

Tony: Oh. What now?

Bart: Uh, we got a problem -- a biggie. One that could possibly destroy your entire plan.

Tek: Feeling better, Celeste?

Celeste: Mon dieu.

Lexie: Here, mom. Have a few sips, huh?

Tek: Wow, I knew I had an effect on women, but I never had one faint before.

Lexie: Mom, have you been to the doctor lately? How's your blood sugar, huh?

Celeste: I have an appointment next week, darling. My health is fine.

Lexie: Mom, you fainted when Tek opened the door. I don't call that fine.

Celeste: I had a vision.

Lexie: What kind of vision?

Celeste: I'm not sure.

Tek: Why don't I give you guys some space for a while? Maybe I should go up and... see Abe, if that's okay.

Lexie: Yeah, yeah, sure.

Lexie: Mom. You're acting very strangely.

Celeste: Never mind about me, darling. How are you? You and Abraham, I mean.

Lexie: Oh, mom. Other than the fact that Abe asked me for a divorce this morning, I'm -- I'm just -- I'm just Jim dandy, mom.

Celeste: A divorce?

Lexie: Yeah.

Celeste: Well, why, darling? Abraham worships you. No.

Lexie: I know. He's -- he's just being irrational over... o-over nothing, really.

Celeste: Nothing? Well, now, I doubt that very much. The poor man has a great many problems to deal with. You know, adjusting to his new situation.

Lexie: Yeah, well, as his condition gradually worsens, he's just finding it more difficult to adjust to, uh... to live his life and...

Celeste: You mean his life with you, right? You know, Alexandra, I didn't want to mention this in front of your friend.

Lexie: You mean Tek?

Celeste: Yeah, well, um... darling, I sense a dark foreboding surrounding this house. Now, something -- something is off-balance.

Lexie: You know what? You're the one who fainted, so maybe you should, like, check yourself out.

Celeste: Alexandra, wait a minute. Don't get flip.

Lexie: Mom, I'm -- I'm just trying not to get depressed, okay? My marriage is in real trouble. Abe doesn't even want to try to make it work out, and... I don't know what to do. I-I guess I'll just be a good wife and do my laundry, huh? Yeah, that's what I'll do.

Celeste: Everything will be just fine, Alexandra, as long as you stay away from this Thomas -- "Tek" Edward Kramer.

Abe: Come in.

Tek: Abe, it's Tek.

Abe: Well, nice of you to drop by, Tek. But as you can see, I already have company.

Tek: Yeah, I heard you were here, Adams. What's that all about?

Abe: Now, why is that a problem for you? Detective Adams trained under me. We're friends.

Adams: Commissioner Gordon asked me to come over and update Abe on the Spears attack.

Abe: As a courtesy, which is something that you wouldn't understand. I won't forget the disrespect you showed me when you refused to answer my questions about the case.

Tek: I was only thinking about your condition. Lexie said you shouldn't get stressed out,

Abe. What was I supposed to do?

Abe: Well, you were both wrong. If anything, it would have been a distraction from my... condition, as you put it. I need to feel useful, not have my nose rubbed in the fact that my professional life is pretty much history.

Tek: I don't understand you, Abe. I mean, yeah, I know that you lost something, but you also have something that most people never have. You have time. Use it to be with your son, who needs his dad. Use it to be with your wife.

Adams: Sir, I've got to get going.

Abe: Well, thanks for coming by, Adams.

Adams: Anytime, sir.

Abe: Don't feel you have to stay, Tek. You wouldn't want to stress me out, right?

Tek: Abe, come on. I don't want us to be enemies here. You know, I owe my whole career to you. You got me into the I.S.A., you got me into the department.

Abe: Well, if you're saying that you're beholden to me, I agree. Which makes your betrayal all that worse.

Tek: Abe, I never betrayed you.

Abe: You know, I -- I really don't want to hear what you have to say, and I am in no mood for present company.

Tek: Fine. I'll go. But, um... I'm not giving up on you, and I hope you don't give up on yourself. I'll be in touch.

Abe: Well, yeah, you'll be in touch. You'll be in touch with my wife.

Celeste: Oh, you're right, Abraham. So now be a man and do something about it.

Dr. Weiss: So, do you feel reassured now, Chloe? Everything is gonna be just fine, I promise. And once you've recovered from surgery and we remove your bandages, you are gonna be quite happy to look in the mirror.

Chloe: Thank you so much, Dr. Weiss.

Nancy: What'd I miss?

Craig: Oh, nothing. Dr. Weiss just gave Chloe some words of encouragement about her surgery, didn't he?

Chloe: Yes, he did.

Dr. Weiss: Did I answer all your questions, Chloe?

Chloe: Yes, I feel much more confident.

Dr. Weiss: Good.

Chloe: Well, I guess I'll see you in the O.R.

Dr. Weiss: Yeah, I'll see you there.

Craig: I'll walk you out, Dr. Weiss.

Dr. Weiss: Thanks.

Nancy: So... how is my girl doing? Do you really feel better about this operation?

Chloe: Yeah, Dr. Weiss is very reassuring.

Nancy: You know, I had a thought for a moment that maybe you should tell Brady that you're alive before you go into surgery. That way, he could be waiting here when you get out.

Chloe: Mom, I'm not gonna do that to him. He was there for me when I had the leukemia. He was there for every awful step -- the chemo, losing my hair, everything. It was such a burden on him.

Nancy: Chloe, there's no burden when there's love.

Chloe: Mom, please, I know what I'm doing.

Nancy: Okay, I just want you to be happy.

Chloe: I will be, once I've recovered from the operation and I've had a chance to rebuild my life.

Nancy: And you're reunited with Brady.

Chloe: Yeah. He's the whole point. Once we're together again, that's when I'll be happy.

Nicole: Over your dead body.

Abe: Well, you certainly don't mind your own business, do you, Celeste?

Celeste: Not when my daughter's happiness is at stake. No. So now, um, tell me, what are you gonna do to stop your life from falling apart?

Abe: Ha ha ha ha. Well, just look at me. You know, I sit here by the window so I can feel the sunlight on my face because I can't see it anymore. My life fell apart long ago.

Celeste: I can't believe you're being so selfish.

Abe: Selfish?

Celeste: You have a family, Abraham -- a wife and a son. And you could have more children, too. Alexandra would love to bring another child into her life. Darling, she loves you.

Abe: Yeah.

Celeste: Oh, now, surely you don't doubt her feelings for you.

Abe: I wonder how long they're gonna last under the circumstances.

Celeste: What circumstances?

Abe: It's none of your business.

Celeste: Ah. I knew it. I knew there was trouble between the two of you. Look, Abraham, whatever it is -- and I won't ask, I respect your privacy -- but, darling, you cannot give up.

Abe: I haven't given up, Celeste. My body gave out on me. And I don't mean just my eyes.

Celeste: Abraham --

Abe: I don't want your pity. And I definitely don't want a marriage based on...pity.

Celeste: Well, now, neither does my daughter. She married a fighter, and you owe it to her to fight whatever the problem is.

Abe: I'm impotent. There, okay? All right? I've said it. I've said it. I've said it. When you came walking in this room knowing, with your visions and your supernatural powers.

Celeste: Well, now, I am sorry.

Abe: Not as sorry as I am. I want to be... I want to be a husband to my wife... and a father to my child. I mean, just look at me! How can I be a father if I have to feel the walls to get to the bathroom? How can I even play catch with my son?

Celeste: You were never a man to feel sorry for himself. I am disappointed in you.

Abe: What the hell do you want of me, Celeste? I can't even make love to my wife. Now -- now how -- how do you think that makes me feel?

Celeste: Darling, there are worse things that befall a man. You could lose your wife, you could suddenly lose your son. Now, that would be true pain. Moaning about this technicality over your love life -- well, I'm telling you, Abraham, it isn't worthy of the brilliant man I know you to be. You were always Alexandra’s protector. Whether it be from Stefano or her brother Tony, you were always there for her.

Abe: I don't feel like a man right now.

Celeste: Then you need to get a new definition of manhood, darling, having to do with the commitment to your family above all else. Now, you listen to me, Abraham. I'm warning you. If you don't fight for Alexandra, you're in danger of losing her, darling. You're in danger of losing her to a man who isn't worthy of her.

Abe: Yeah. I know that. I just, uh... can you leave me right now, Celeste? I... I want to be alone right now.

Celeste: Darling, will you think about what I've just said, huh? Would you at least promise me that much? Oh, darling...

Lexie: How'd it go with Abe? Did you talk?

Tek: I tried, but he's not interested in hearing anything I have to say.

Lexie: I'm sorry.

Tek: It's not your fault. So how are you holding up?

Lexie: I-I'm fine. I-I'm doing well, thanks.

Tek: Lexie, I know you don't want to hear this, but I really still feel very deeply for you.

Lexie: Tek, please --

Tek: Lexie, I don't want to push you, all right? I don't want you to feel uncomfortable every time you see me.

Lexie: Yeah... neither do I. Look, you were a good friend to me when I really needed one, but, uh...

Tek: Lexie, if you ever need a friend again, just someone to -- someone to talk to or just a shoulder to cry on, I'm there for you, okay?

Nicole: Are you ready, Miss Lane?

Chloe: Yes, I am.

Craig: All right.

Nancy: Nurse Baxter, you take very good care of our daughter.

Nicole: Don't worry, I'll be right there with her, seeing to it she gets exactly the care she deserves.

Nancy: Thank you.

Craig: Thanks, nurse. See you later.

Nicole: [Thinking] It’s...Showtime.

Tony: What's going on, Bart?

Bart: Our man Stan and the guys are being tailed by a group of soldiers.

Tony: What makes you sure it's not our men?

Bart: That's the problem. We don't know who they belong to, but they're probably the enemy.

Tony: Damn it. Why weren't the boys from Salem followed more closely? Not only is my plan about to disintegrate, but from the sounds of it, Samantha, Rex, Shawn, and Brady are about to lose their lives!

Brady: We're under attack! Get down!

[Machine gun fire]

Brady: Jeez! Guys, we can't stay here. We gotta keep moving.

Man: Drop your weapons! You're not going anywhere.

Jack: I can't tell you how good it feels to have my two best girls with me.

Hope: If something should happen to Shawn because you were off with Billie somewhere again, I will never forgive you.

Tony: Our deal is off, Samantha. You don't get to see your parents, and lastly, you will never get revenge on your enemies.

Brady: The only way out is through that door, and that's where the guard's posted.
