Hope: Why would Shawn go to Kent Island? It doesn't make any sense. He doesn't even know anyone there, does he?

Bo: Well, maybe that's exactly why he went, you know? Could be camping out, trying to get away from it all.

Hope: I also don't understand how Casarez could be so sure those tire tracks belonging to Shawn's bike -- your bike.

Bo: He's not. That's why I asked him to go door to door. Listen, if Shawn's out there, we'll find him.

Shawn-D: [Grunts] [ Muffled] Help! Help!

Jan: Oh, dear.

Casarez: Ma'am, are you all right?

Jan: Yes, I -- I was just trying to think. You know, I'm sure I would remember if a noisy motorcycle came and disturbed the peace. I wish I could help you, but, uh...

Casarez: If you could just look at the photo one more time...

Jan: Handsome fella. Wish I could say I'd seen him.

Casarez: Something wrong, ma'am? Oh, my God.

Kate: Well, I --

Philip: Hold it, Mom. John and Belle left us at the blue note so they could be alone to grieve. What are we doing here?

Kate: Philip, you protest far too much. If you didn't want to see her, then why did you come with her?

Philip: [Sighs]

Kate: You say that you don't want to take advantage of Belle, right? Then why not give her credit for having a brain in her head? All she needs is a quick, swift reminder that her world doesn't need to revolve around Shawn Brady. Now, if you don't want to give that to her, then you are a damned fool.

Belle: Dad, if you don't want to move back in here, I think we'll all understand. I know you can't help but remember all those things --

John: Izzy... we can't dwell on any of that. We just have to try to remember the good times.

Belle: But maybe it would be best if we were away from all this. If you want, I can help you pack up Mom's things.

John: No. Everything in this house will stay exactly the way that it is.

Marlena: Oh. This is my home in Salem.

Roman: Just like everything else you've seen here, doc. All of our houses have been replicated on this island.

Marlena: Oh, Roman... look at all the detail. Everything. Whoever did this must have unlimited resources. He must know exactly how we live our lives. And if it's Stefano... wait a minute. It's not the same. Something's wrong.

Kate: Donít.

Philip: Mom, you need a new hobby -- something, anything besides grieving for Roman and interfering in your sons' love lives.

Kate: Love lives? Those are your words. Honey, those are your words. Does that mean that you're in love with Belle?

Philip: Fine, Mom. I love her. Are you happy now?

Kate: Oh, my God. Honey, I just want you to be happy. That-- that's all I want. You need to do something. You need to give her a hint. Come on, sweetie. You're a marine.

Both: Storm the hill.

Philip: Right, Mom, she wants Shawn. Now, I can't be pushing her, complicating things. I can't storm the hill right now. I want to make her feel better, not worse. And I am warning you, mother, do not bring this up to me again.

Belle: Dad, I'm -- I'm so sorry. Of course it's too soon, and you don't want to pack up Mom's things.

John: I know you're just trying to help, sweetheart, but I've decided that I just want to keep things exactly the way they are.

Belle: Forever?

John: Don't look so worried. I know she's not coming back to us. I know that she wouldn't think that it's healthy for me to keep this place looking like a shrine in her memory. It's just that, you know, this is the way that I remember our life, and... you know, it's -- it's -- look, you see this picture up here? Like... the picture in this -- this desk here, and just stuff that we picked out together that we Both loved, and I felt that keeping them close would just -- it's another way to feel her presence, just feel like we're keeping her love alive. And we will... forever.

[Doorbell rings]

John: You expecting someone?

Kate: So you don't want to hear any more about you and Belle? Well, maybe she should hear it straight from me.

Philip: Mom, that is enough.

Kate: You need to go after the girl.

Belle: Oh.

Philip: Sorry. It's just us.

John: Hey, Kate. What's going on?

Kate: You know, the two of you didn't eat a bite tonight.

John: Oh, Kate, listen, that's really nice of you and everything, but I --

Kate: Now, look, I swear, it's just all comfort food, and it will go down really easily.

Belle: Thanks. I'm really glad you came by. I was trying to be here for my dad, but I think he's trying to be strong for me.

Kate: And I know that you're trying to be strong for him, too. Philip, why don't you help Belle take the food into the kitchen?

Philip: Good idea, Mom. Come on.

John: Kate, listen, I really do appreciate everything you're doing, but look at me. It's not necessary. Everything's under control here.

Kate: John... when you lost Isabella, you didn't have any family here, right? And Brady was very small. He was a baby, so... how did you cope then? Who did you lean on?

John: Marlena.

Kate: And did you fight, and did you protest, and did you try to convince her that you were just fine?

John: How did you know that?

Kate: Did you really think you could get through that terrible time all by yourself? John, for God's sakes, just let us help you.

John: Everything seems different now, Kate. It's the -- it's just dis--

Kate: Listen to me. I know that. Roman and Marlena were the loves of our lives, and we've lost that now, and we're never going to have it back again. But I think... I think the two of us are just trying to figure out a way to go on without them.

John: [Sighs]

Roman: Marlena, what are you talking about? What's wrong?

Marlena: I put a new picture here of Belle. It's not here.

Roman: So whoever designed our prison didn't have a chance to take into account last-minute changes.

Marlena: Yeah. Yeah. There were no memories made here. You can't fabricate those kinds of feelings in a home. You can't do it. When I came through that door at the end of the day, I knew John was here waiting for me. I could feel it. He's not waiting for me now, is he? John, Belle, Sami, Eric -- they all think I'm dead. And worse... they think I'm a killer, that I killed family and -- and friends, and that I'm evil.

Roman: Oh, come on, doc. Nobody could ever think that about you.

Marlena: No, no. No, I'm right. You weren't there. It's true. Even Bo... and Julie. So many people, they -- they -- they wanted me dead.

Roman: Oh, Marlena.

Marlena: My family stood by me. I'm sure they had questions. I-I know I did, too.

Roman: We're going to get answers, doc, and we're going to get back home.

Marlena: Oh. How do we do that when we're right here in the middle of nowhere? We can't communicate with anybody in the outside world. Doug was almost electrocuted trying to escape. The only people we can talk to are the people that already live here.

Roman: We're going to find a way. We are going to find a way. In the meantime, we got each other. We got food; we got a comfortable place to stay.

Marlena: Oh. Oh, no, no. No, no. Do not say all the comforts of home, because this place is creepy, and I just can't even stay here by myself.

Roman: That's not a problem. I'll stay here with you.

Marlena: No, no, that -- that wasn't what I meant.

Roman: Doc, doc. We don't know why we're here. We don't know what's in store with us. Let's just pretend that it's back when we first met and I was detailed to sleep on your floor and keep you safe. I will protect you, doc. I promise you. I will not let anything happen to you.

Bo: Hope, when you were Shawn's age, how many times did you forget to check in, not even thinking that your parents might be worried?

Hope: Always. But usually that's because I lost track of time because I was with you.

Bo: Mm-hmm.

Hope: When Shawn left, Marlena was being sentenced. I just figured he'd call -- if not us, at least Belle.

Bo: Hey. When he finds out Marlena's dead, he'll turn around and come home. Don't worry. He'll come back to us soon.

Jan: What is it?

Casarez: I can't believe I didn't see that when I was driving up. I'll pay for the rose bush, of course.

Jan: The rose bush.

Casarez: I can't apologize enough, ma'am. I don't know how I didn't see it when I pulled in.

Jan: Oh. Don't worry about it. It was half dead anyway.

Casarez: Are you sure?

Jan: Yes. You know, officer, I have a question for you. This man that you're looking for -- is he dangerous? Should I be worried?

Casarez: No, nothing like that, ma'am. We're just trying to locate him.

Jan: Oh, that's a relief. Well, if I see him, I -- I'll definitely call Salem P.D.

Casarez: Before I go, would you mind if I had a look around back?

Jan: No, of course not. Go right ahead.

Casarez: Thanks. Have a good night. Sorry about that rose bush.

Jan: Good night.

Shawn-D: [Grunting]

Belle: Let's go outside.

Philip: All right.

Belle: You know, I think it's really good for my dad that your mom's here. I've been trying my best to be there for him, but I don't know what to do. I've never really been through anything like this before.

Philip: I'm just glad you guys don't mind us barging in on you like this. I know you wanted to be alone.

Belle: Philip, if you're uncomfortable, you don't have to stay.

Philip: What are you talking about? What?

Belle: I -- no, I'm just -- I'm kind of getting that vibe from you. And I did hear what your mom said to you when I opened the door about you getting involved with some girl.

Kate: I don't know. I -- I never really thought about myself as being lucky in love. I mean, there was Curtis... then bill Horton... Victor Kiriakis...

John: Thank you.

Kate: And then there was Roman. There was Roman, and I spent so damn much time pushing him away... I guess I thought that I didn't deserve a man like him.

John: Oh, no, come on, Kate. Don't talk like that. Of course you did. You do, and you always will.

Kate: Oh, but you don't know the things that I've done in my life. My children are still paying for my sins. But you -- you had two great loves in your life. After Isabella, did you know that you would...

John: [Gulps] No. No. Back then, I just took one day at a time. I didn't really think ahead.

Kate: Well, you're still a young man.

John: It's over, Kate. I have been blessed more than any man has a right to expect in his lifetime.

Kate: Roman -- he almost gave up on love.

John: You know, in a weird way, Roman was lucky. He died a happy man. That was because of you, Kate.

Kate: If only I had -- if only I had told him about my past sooner, maybe then we could have... been happy together sooner, too. I'm sorry. You don't have any idea what I'm talking about, do you?

John: Is s -- it's all right.

Kate: No, I mean, we're having this very personal conversation, yet I'm -- I'm talking around what was really the -- the worst time in my life. Just a few people really know the truth about my past. I'd really like to tell you.

Roman: Marlena, I am sorry. I -- I mean, I'm sure this is very awkward for Both of us, my staying here, but, uh, I just thought it would probably be a lot more awkward over at my so-called house, I mean, what with all the memories of our life together there.

Marlena: Roman, we had wonderful years together, and we have memories of all that time, even now. But I don't feel awkward around you. I do want to stay here. I do. I-I think that if John were to find his way to this island, I-I think he would look for me here first.

Roman: Absolutely. You're absolutely right.

Marlena: But you seem to feel awkward around me, don't you?

Roman: Doc, no. I-I -- ha ha ha. You know, I feel, um... unfaithful isn't the word, but -- I left Kate behind. I left my future behind. And as you said, there's a lot to look back on for us, for you and me, but Kate and I -- we will never have the chance to make the life that we planned together.

Marlena: You told me we're going home. You have to believe in that future. Look, if Stefano is behind this, he's taken years of our lives and kept us apart from our loved ones already.

Roman: He's also the reason that you met the love of your life.

Marlena: Roman, I fell in love with John because Stefano made me think it was you. It was like falling in love with you a second time.

Roman: But when I came back, doc, you had a choice. You were in love with Both of us. You were married to Both of us. You had children with Both of us. And unfortunately for me, John won.

Hope: Nachos, cookies, candy -- what was I thinking?

Bo: I don't believe you were.

Hope: When Shawn does come home, do you think he'll still want to join the merchant marine?

Bo: What if he does?

Hope: We're all dealing with our grief in our own way. I just don't want him to compound it by leaving behind the people that he loves. I know he expects Belle to be waiting for him, but what if she's not?

Bo: If Shawn and Belle love each other enough, they can make it through anything. As you know, true love...

Hope: Never, ever fails.

Bo: Right.

Shawn-D: [Grunting]

[Knock on door]

Jan: That was fast.

Casarez: Is everything all right in here?

Jan: Of course.

Casarez: I heard a noise coming from upstairs. It sounded like something breaking. Is there someone else in here with you?

Shawn-D: [Muffled] Help! Help!

Philip: My mom and her big mouth.

Belle: Philip, I'm glad she said something, and I'm glad I heard her. Look, you have been spending all of this time with me, and it's not fair for you to put your life on hold just to help me, and it's selfish of me to keep asking you to do that.

Philip: Whoa, whoa, whoa. You haven't asked. This is exactly where I want to be. It is, I swear.

Belle: Philip, we've been friends since we were little kids.

Philip: Yeah.

Belle: How come I haven't heard about this girl sooner? I have to know who she is, right?

John: Kate... you really don't have to tell me anything.

Kate: This secret has haunted me for so long... and little bits and pieces of it have come out to different people. I was even blackmailed because of it.

John: Kate, you don't have --

Kate: John... if the whole truth were to come out, I don't think you can imagine how it could be held against me... Both personally and professionally. Please don't hate me for what I'm about to tell you.

Marlena: I'm not a prize. John didn't win.

Roman: Doc, I'm sorry. I -- that is not how I meant it.

Marlena: When Stefano took you away from us, it was the worst kind of grief. And then John came into my life, and I wanted to believe --

Roman: You wanted to believe that he was me.

Marlena: Yes. And then Stefano... took me away. But he wouldn't reunite us. No, he wouldn't do that. How many years did you and I spend alone, losing the memories of our children, losing the memories of our entire life? And then we finally got home, and John was there, living in our house, raising our children. That was supposed to be our life. I wanted to be a devoted wife to you. I was so glad you were home. But things had changed. The things Stefano did to us changed us forever.

Roman: Of course it did.

Marlena: Look, we can't just sit here. We've got to do something. We've got to get out of here.

Roman: And you're going to help us do it, doc. You are the key to this whole thing.

Marlena: Why do you say that?

Roman: You were a victim, doc, the same as we were, only completely, completely different. You were set up to be a serial killer, and you believed you were guilty. What we've got to find out is why, and we're going to start by finding out exactly what you said when you made your so-called confession.

Marlena: I said that I killed everyone. I-I-I can't go through all those awful details again.

Roman: Doc, listen to me. I am very sorry. I-I know how hard this must be, but we have got to dig deep. Sit down, doc. All right, you listen to me. Whatever you remember, there's a clue somewhere in there, so you can't leave out a single detail, because our lives and our futures depend on it.

Kate: And Curtis made me believe that Billie and Austin were dead, so I believed that all I had in the world was -- was Lucas, and I really didn't want to fail him the way I had failed my other children. So I decided to -- to better myself. I got an education and... I tried to get a job. And I -- and I-I probably could have done everything on my own by myself if -- if I had just had the patience, but I really didn't feel I had that luxury. Have you ever had to put your child to bed hungry? Itís...

John: I can't even imagine how hard that would be.

Kate: I should have known. I should have known. [Sighs] I should have known that a golden opportunity doesn't come without... hell to pay. But then, I was always very trusting of men, and he was so rich and so powerful.

John: Kate, like I said, you don't have to tell me.

Kate: No, I really -- I don't -- I want to tell you before I lose the nerve. This man set me up as a call girl. Although I should really say it the way it was. I was a paid whore. But that really wasn't the worst of it. And... the part that I'm about to tell you, I really hope that doesn't change the way you feel about me from this point on. The man I worked for was Stefano DiMera.

Roman: Doc, even if there's just -- if there's one thing here that we can work with just to keep us from going crazy... I mean, actually, for Abe and I, this is the -- this is the case of a lifetime. We've debriefed everyone who's come on this island. I want to do the same thing with you.

Marlena: Ha ha. You make it sound like I've been on some kind of a secret mission.

Roman: Well, in a way, you have. We just don't know exactly what it was or who was in charge.

Marlena: Oh, we know what it was. I was meant to kill everyone who was to be brought here.

Roman: Yeah, but why you, and why give you such a -- a flimsy, crazy motive?

Marlena: Oh, you mean when I said that I did it...

Roman: Because you didn't want me to marry Kate, because you were still in love with me. We Both know that's not true. Everybody knows it's not.

Marlena: But that is true. I do still love you.

Jan: Oh, uh, you must have heard the kitties.

Casarez: Kids?

Jan: No, uh, cats. I have about five or six. They're always getting into things.

Casarez: Ma'am, what I heard was a loud noise for a little cat. Maybe your hearing's not what it used to be.

Jan: My hearing's just fine, thank you.

Casarez: All the same, I'd feel a lot better if I checked it out.

Shawn-D: [Grunting]  Help! Help me! My name is Shawn Brady! I'm being held prisoner in here! I've been handcuffed to this bed! Jan spears is holding me captive!

Philip: If I needed your help, I would've asked for it.

Belle: Philip, we both know you wouldn't have mentioned this to your mom unless part of you wanted to go after this girl.

Philip: Belle, you don't understand, okay?

Belle: I think you think your mom's pushing you too hard, and that's driving you crazy. We both just want you to be happy.

Philip: Great. Now you sound like her.

Belle: Can you imagine if we lived in the days of arranged marriages?

Philip: Oh, my God. Right.

Belle: You know, I don't think I believe anymore in fate and destiny and soul mates. With everything that's been going on, it's been like this... huge nightmare. This can't be how things were meant to be, can it?

Philip: Hey, I believe your mom's in heaven. She is.

Belle: I think that, too. And I'm really glad someone else does. Don't change the subject.

Philip: What? Well, what about you? I know you're thinking about Shawn. I know you're thinking that everything in your world is wrong right now. But you have to keep faith. What you guys have is special. And I want you to know something. I believe in soul mates.

Belle: Thank you, Philip. I don't know what I would do without you.

Kate: Well, could you say something, please?

John: I'm sorry.

Kate: Well, I don't blame you. I don't -- I don't blame you if you never want to talk to me again. After everything Stefano did --

John: Stop it. It's not your fault.

Kate: But I should've known. I didn't, but I should've. I thought he was so kind, but... of course he was kind, because look at what I was doing for him.

John: Look at my past. Who am I to pass judgment on anybody? God only knows what I did for Stefano -- much worse than you, I am sure. But you had the best reason in the entire world. You did it for your child. And there is no one that can punish you or blame you for doing that.

Kate: Oh, my God.

John: What?

Kate: Those words -- they're... almost verbatim what Roman said to me.

Roman: Marlena... I know you love me... as a friend and as the father of our twins. The very same way I love you. But your heart's with John, and mine's with Kate.

Marlena: I know that. I want you to be able to move on with your life, the same way John and I have. Your happiness is so important to me. Roman, you've got to get out of here. We both do.

Roman: Okay. All right. Then let's talk through this. Look, you are the least likely murder suspect in Salem. Who decided that you're the one?

[Siren wailing]

Marlena: Oh, my gosh. Roman? What was that? What's happening? Roman, what is it?

Roman: It's happening again.

[Panting of dog]

Bo: You know, our son takes after both his parents.

Hope: Yeah, I know -- stubborn and stubborn.

Bo: Yeah. You know, when he borrowed that bike that time to give Belle that joyride --

Hope: What? He did what?

Bo: I never did tell you about that, did I?

Hope: No. No, you didnít. Because you didn't want me to worry. Wait a minute -- is that what you're doing now -- telling me not to worry when there really is a reason to worry? Is that what you're doing?

Bo: Take it easy. I trust our son.

Hope: I trust our son, too, but it's the rest of the world I don't trust.

Bo: Yeah, I know. Look, we don't have to worry about a serial killer anymore. We don't have to look over our shoulders. We don't have to live in fear. Our Boy will be fine.

Shawn-D: Help! Somebody... if you can hear me! Help! Som-- anyb--

Jan: You can cut that out now. Nobody could hear you through the door anyhow. The stupid policeman's gone.

Shawn-D: What was he doing here? My parents sent the cops to find me, didn't they? Look how close they came. Jan, they're going to be back, and this is bad for you.

Jan: Wrong. It's great news. The cops have been here, and they've checked out the place. They think they can cross this place off their list... which means they won't be coming back. Which means no one will ever find you. Now I have to go hide that stupid bike of yours in the shed. You be good this time, Shawn, or when I get back, I'll have to punish you.

Casarez: Commander Brady.

Bo: Yeah, Casarez, what do you have?

Casarez: I'm sorry. I haven't found any sign of Shawn or your bike.

Bo: Damn it. Okay, listen, um, no sense waking people up in the middle of the night. Uh, you go on home. First thing in the morning, you check with the rest of the homeowners.

Casarez: Hopefully I'll have better luck then.

Bo: Yeah. Uh, good night, man. Hey, fancy face.

Hope: Where's my son? Where's my little boy?

Shawn-D: I can do this. I can get out of here. I cannot give up. I am coming home to you, Belle.

Belle: Shawn's out there... somewhere. I just hope he's thinking about me as much as I'm thinking about him. He has to come back to me, Philip.

Philip: He will.

Belle: Soon. Because... I can't take this anymore. I canít.

John: I'm not surprised that Roman said the same thing. That means he understood.

Kate: He was more upset that, um, that I had kept this secret than about what I had done. Abe found out the truth first, and that's why I was a murder suspect. But even then, I-I couldn't tell him.

John: None of it mattered. He knew that you were innocent. I mean, how can you not believe the woman that you love?

Kate: I'm sorry. I'm -- I'm supposed to be comforting you.

John: You are. I mean, we are counting our blessings. Isn't that what we're doing right now? And Roman was very blessed to have you love him. No matter how short your time was with him, that's something that no one can ever take from you.

Kate: And I do count my blessings. I don't know. I'm sorry about this, because, um, I've known you so long, but... I don't think it's ever struck me till tonight how truly like him you really A..

John: Well, I don't think we're ever going to know if that was by nature or design. I'll tell you one thing, Kate -- you're right. Roman and I were a hell of a lot alike -- right down to falling hopelessly in love with the same woman.

Marlena: What do you mean it's happened again?

Roman: It always happens this way when somebody new is coming to the island.

Marlena: Somebody new?

Roman: I'm afraid so. And that means that somebody else in Salem is about to die. And then... they'll be coming here to join us.

ďNext on Days Of Our LivesĒ

Jennifer: How am I gonna raise a child without Jack? Patrick, he was the love of my life, and now he's gone.

Celeste: You mustn't get too close to Thomas Edward Kramer. If you do, Alexandra, he's going to ruin your life.

Roman: This is part of the same warning. It just means one more person is about to die.

Abe: The question is, who?

Roman: It's you.
