Lucas: Come on, Sami. We have to go inside.

Sami: No.

Lucas: You're not going to go to your mom's funeral?

Sami: My mom's not dead, and I am not going to let them bury her.

Belle: So, this is where my mom is going to be for the rest of my life. Next to Roman.

Philip: We should go in and find your dad. Come on.

Belle: You know, I really wish that more people could have been here today. I understand it's best that it's just close friends and family, but a lot of people used to love my mom. Even though now they think that her being killed is justice. They're happy about it. They're not even going to miss her.

Philip: Hey. I'm going to miss her. And a lot of us are.

Belle: I thought for sure Shawn would call today. You know, that he'd wake up and finally get my message and come straight here. Shawn, where are you? God... why has he left me alone like this?

[Soft music playing]

[Keys rattling]

Jan: Good morning, sunshine. Now let's start the day off right with a good, hearty breakfast for my strong, healthy man. Hey, Shawn! You want to make sure you eat up. You're gonna need all your strength for what we have planned for today.

Nicole: Good morning.

Brady: What the hell are you doing up before noon?

Nicole: I'm going to Marlena's funeral.

Brady: Oh, really? You do realize only close personal friends and family were invited.

Nicole: I'm a friend of the family, aren't I?

Brady: Nicole, no offence, but my family thinks you wanted Marlena dead.

Nicole: No offence taken.

[Telephone rings]

Brady: Hello? Yes, hang on. Nicole, it's for you.

Nicole: Who is it?

Brady: She says she's your new best friend.

Hope: How long has he been here?

Jansen: Since dawn.

John: I love you so much, pretty lady. And I will always love you forever.

[Insects buzzing]

[Birds chirping]

Celeste: The creatures are restless today. What are you trying to tell me?

Marlena's voice: Don't let them take me. It's not my time.

Philip: Please don't do this to yourself.

Belle: You know, it wasn't that long ago that Shawn and I were talking about our future. And now... I can't even imagine a future without my mom.

Philip: You just need to concentrate on getting through today. And you will. And then tomorrow, and you will.

Belle: I wasn't there for my mom when she needed me, Philip. If I had told the truth, things would have been different -- for Mrs. Horton, for Shawn, for my mom.

Philip: No, Shawn's problems have nothing to do with you. He's grieving right now. We all are. And we all do it in different ways. We don't even know for sure why he's not here. Maybe he pitched a tent at a campground somewhere. Maybe he can't charge his cell phone. Maybe he's away from TV and radio. We don't know.

Belle: Do you think that Shawn is staying away because his dad is the one that ordered the police to kill my mom? Maybe he thinks that I blame his family.

Philip: Like he blamed you for what your mom did?

Belle: Philip, I understand why Shawn felt he needed to get away. I just don't get why he's not coming back.

Philip: Well, believe me, I don't get it, either. I am so sorry about what's happened with your mom, Belle. No one should lose a parent this young. But, hey, I know you, and you're strong. And whether Shawn is here or not, you can get through this, and you will.

Belle: Philip, that is not what I need to hear right now! I'm s-- I'm sorry. I didn't mean --

Philip: It's okay. I understand.

Belle: You don't know how grateful I am that you're here. I mean, I couldn't get through this without you.

Philip: Sure, you could.

Belle: It's just --

Philip: It's just that you'd rather have Shawn. I understand.

Belle: I'm just so worried about him, Philip. I mean, why isn't he here? What if something happened to him?

Jan: [Sighs] I made all your favorite foods, just like when we used to live together. Fresh-squeezed juice, beautiful breakfast sausage, and a multivitamin to make sure you are in perfect shape from head to toe. Now, I slaved over all this to make sure it is as yummy as you. Please tell me that you're going to eat it and like it. Please tell me that you're not going to make me upset with you again.

Shawn-D: I'm sorry, Jan. I haven't been very grateful, but I had a long night to think about the things that I said to you yesterday. And my head was spinning from those drugs that you gave me, but I really shouldn't have brought up all those things about wanting to be with --

Jan: Please do not say the "b" word. You know, all that talk about you loving her and needing to go back to her... ugh. I was scared I was going to have to do something drastic.

Shawn-D: What do you mean?

Jan: You know, to keep Belle out of our lives for good. But now you seem to remember what we have. So I don't think I could bear to separated from you one more day. Not even if it was to get rid of Belle. Just look at this amazing place that I've built for us.

Shawn-D: Oh, it's amazing.

Jan: Everything we'll ever need is right here. My whole world is you, Shawn. I want to spend the rest of my life in your arms.

Shawn-D: Well, come here, baby. I want to hold you in my arms. But it's not gonna work like this. You have to take me out of these handcuffs. That way we can really spend the rest of our lives together... forever.

Sami: Oh, God, I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe I'm going to my mother's funeral today.

Lucas: All right, look, Sami, if it's too hard for you, you don't have to go in, all right?

Sami: Of course I do. Lucas, I always try to do something to make things better, to make things go my way. My mother's gone, and there's nothing I can do that will ever change that. God, why d-- why does everybody that I love have to die?

Lucas: Sami, you're not alone.

Sami: My parents are dead, Lucas. My grandmother's gone. Who's gonna be there to get angry with me for messing up my life? Who's gonna try to understand and give me another chance, love me for who I am? Who, you?

Will: Yeah, Mom. Us. That's what families do.

Sami: Will, I love you so much.

Hope: John?

John: She's beautiful, isn't she?

Hope: She's one of the most beautiful women I ever knew, inside and out.

John: Thank you for saying that.

Hope: I meant it.

John: The funeral home did an amazing job, didn't they? It's almost as if she could wake up any second.

Hope: Is there anything I can do? Even if you just want to talk about her.

John: You know, Hope, it's been so many nights since she was home, and before that, since I was, but... when I woke up this morning, I could still smell her perfume on the sheets. She's still so present to me.

Hope: Of course she is. She always will be.

John: Last night, Celeste carried on a conversation with Marlena.

Hope: What?

John: You know I'm skeptical of all those vibes and visions, but for a minute there, she really had me believing doc could be alive.

Hope: John --

John: I know. I know she's gone, she died in my arms, but still, I worry about her. Celeste feels that her spirit isn't at peace. You know, and why should it be? I know that somehow she's innocent, and now she's never gonna have a chance to know the truth here. And what should be a celebration of her life today --

Hope: It will be. Your family and friends, we are here to celebrate Marlena's life.

John: Izzy.

Belle: Dad. I can't even make myself look.

John: You don't have to, honey.

Belle: How are we going to say goodbye to her, Dad?

[Insects buzzing loudly]

[Birds chirping loudly ]

Marlena's voice: Don't let them take me. It's not my time to go.

Celeste: Marlena, what do you want me to do?

Marlena's voice: Help me before it's too late.

Celeste: [Gasps] I have to stop John from burying Marlena!

Nicole: Hello?

Crystal: So, are you packed and ready to be my cellmate, Nicole?

Nicole: Excuse me a sec. Yes, Brady, I actually do have friends. We grew up together. We go way back. So you can go ahead to that funeral, where you didn't want me in the first place. This could take a while.

Brady: Sounds good to me.

Nicole: Good.  How dare you call me again, and at this number!

Crystal: You won't get phone privileges in here, and I will never let you use mine.

Nicole: Could you be a little bit patient, crystal? I am working on getting your bail money together. And you've spent enough of your life in that joint. Another day won't kill you.

Crystal: Yeah, well, it might kill you. You'll go to death row for murder one, you know.

Nicole: And so will you. If you breathe one word to anyone that we plotted to get Marlena killed --

Crystal: We? It wasn't my idea, and I didn't pull the trigger. I think the police would show me a lot of appreciation if I came forward with what I know. You know me, Nicky. If your offer doesn't pan out, I'll just find me another, better one. Don't worry, I won't call you ever again. Goodbye.

Nicole: Oh, my God, crystal! Why can't I ever find myself a useful accomplice? Now I gotta keep you from talking, too. Well, believe me, I know how to do that better than anyone.

Shawn-D: Let me go. Let me be here for you. Let me love you.

Jan: Oh, yes, Shawn. Yes. Love me.

Kate: Did you stay with Belle all night?

Philip: Yes.

Kate: And Shawn never called, did he?

Philip: No.

Kate: And you knew that he wouldn't, didn't you? I don't know why you're being so noble. Belle needs more than a friend right now. She needs to know how much you really care.

Will: Isn't anyone else going to go to Grandma Marlena's funeral?

Sami: She deserves so much better than this. She made a difference in so many people's lives -- in a good way, not in the way people are saying now.

Lucas: We know, Sami. We know.

Sami: Yeah, well, some people don’t. How could you even be here right now? Stupid police murdered my mother! Now get out!

Lucas: Um... will, sport, why don't you find us a place to sit, okay, buddy?

Will: Okay.

Lucas: Come on. Sami, what happened to your mother was not Hope's fault.

Sami: You're right. You're right. It was Bo's fault. And it was John and Kate’s fault.

Hope: Sami --

Sami: God, I can't believe this. I don't care what anyone else says. Grandma Caroline was right. John killed my mother, and Kate helped him do it. I tried to tell everyone. I tried to warn everyone, and no one would listen to me. My mother is dead because of you!

Jan: Shawn, what's wrong? I thought you said you wanted me.

Shawn-D: Oh, I do. I do so much, but it shouldn't happen this way. I want us to talk all day long. Um, laugh together, watch movies.

Jan: Ooh, ooh, how about that one, "fatal attraction"? Oh, that's my favorite. It's so Romantic.

Shawn-D: Yeah, well, whatever you want. I just want you to be happy, and I don't think that you can be happy with me chained up like this. You want me here of my own free will, right? You want me to wrap both my arms around you.

Jan: I do. Oh, Shawn, I do.

Shawn-D: There you go. There you go.

[Doorbell rings]

Jan: Oh, God. Oh, my God, they're coming for me!

Shawn-D: No!

Sami: [Sobbing]

Belle: Sami.

Sami: Belle.

Brady: Why does Sami act like she's the only one who's lost someone she's loved?

Kate: Well, as you might expect, Sami's decided to make her mother's funeral all about herself.

[Cellular phone rings]

[Ring]

Hope: Hope Brady. Bo. Is everything all right? Crystal has more information about Marlena's escape? Okay, so you think she knows more than she's saying.

Sami: Belle, I told Mom about all the awful things I had said to my dad before died, and I told her that I would regret it forever. But what I'll regret more than anything is that I can never be the daughter that either one of them deserved. Oh, God, I -- Mom, please don't go! Please don't leave me, Mom! Please! Please!

[Sobbing]

Celeste: I'm here, Marlena. I won't let them bury you.

[Doorbell rings repeatedly]

Nicole: Open up, Jan. I know you're in there.

Jan: Okay!

Nicole: What the hell took you so long? What, are you and Shawn role-playing now?

Shawn-D: Help! Help! I'm being held against my will!

Jan: What is he saying? That is so not true!

Nicole: Oh, my God! He didn't hear me, did he?

Jan: Well, if you don't want him to hear you, maybe you should just leave.

Nicole: Well, I will, and then you can get back to whatever you were doing, as soon as you give me what I came here for. So, do you have it?

Sami: [Sobbing] What is she talking about? Why won't everyone just leave my mother alone?

John: What's going on?

Celeste: Marlena spoke to me, John.

John: No, no, no. I'm not gonna let you do this to me again. Now, this is the hardest day my family will ever face. Do you understand what I'm saying to you? I listened to you last night, and you gave me nothing but false hope. You hear dead people, Celeste. That's what you do. Shouldn't you be used to it by now? Look. Take a good look. She is gone forever. That is a fact. There is no doubt about it.

Celeste: Listen to me, John. Don't you even care what your wife had to say?

John: You're damn right I do. And last night you told me that you saw her in the park. And crazy me, spent half the night looking for her. I didn't see her, I didn't hear her, I didn't feel her, and she is my wife. Let me ask you something. If anybody senses her presence, why would it be you, and not those of us who love her?

Celeste: She's trying to reach you, John, through me.

John: And what was her message to you? What did she say? That we're not supposed to bury her? What do you suggest we do with her- no. Don't even tell me. We have prepared as best as we can for what we must do. And we are going to lay Marlena to rest now -- today. And if you don't approve of that, Celeste, you don't have to stay. I did the right thing, didn't I, doc? Oh, God, if I could just hear your voice one more time. Can you hear me? Can you hear me, Marlena? I love you.

Hope: You must have very mixed emotions about being here.

Kate: After I found out that Marlena was the one who took Roman away from me on my wedding night because she was jealous of me, my dear friend Marlena -- all I wanted to see was for her to -- but John. John's my dear friend, too. And if anything is worse than what I've been through, his life is now a living purgatory. And he doesn't deserve that. None of us does.

Brady: I think it's time.

Philip: Yeah.

[Cellular phone rings]

Belle: I knew he'd call! I knew it!

Belle: Shawn? I'm sorry. Um, you have the wrong number.

Brady: Sorry, Belle.

Philip: We should go sit down.

Belle: Yeah.

Marlena's voice: Don't let them bury me. It's not my time.

Shawn-D: Come on. Come on. Oh! Ahh! I got to get out of here!

[Panting]

Nicole: Come on, Jan, do you have it or not?

Jan: Have what?

Nicole: The money! My friend called again. I have to bail her out of jail today, or she's going to blab that I told her to have Marlena killed.

Jan: So, I'm supposed to bail you out with my money? I didn't have anything to do with that. What do I care?

Nicole: Well, you better care, 'cause if I go down for one murder, what's one more? And you don't want Shawn finding out that you crispy-fried his grandfather. He's already got enough to forgive you for.

Jan: Hey, Shawn loves his love nest.

Nicole: Oh, okay. Why do you want to keep him there?

Jan: Okay, Nicole. I get your point.

Nicole: Give me the money.

Jan: I can’t. See, I don't have any.

Jansen: John, would you like to say a few words?

Sami: No!

Lucas: Come on, Sami. Your mom would want this.

John: It is -- it's very hurtful for those of us in her family to feel that we are alone in our grief today, that we had to arrange a service so quickly and quietly that friends and family couldn't attend, especially Carrie and Eric. But I want everyone to know that we are not grieving alone. Marlena's life touched so many people, and their lives touched so many others. That is how Marlena would like to be remembered through us. In our words. More important, our deeds. The things that she taught us, and the way that she loved us. And that is what she will never let us forget.

Celeste: That's not all Marlena wants us to know.

Marlena's voice: Don't let them bury me.

Nicole: You told me your parents left you a fortune when they died. What do you mean you don't have any money?

Jan: I do. It's just not here.

Nicole: Where is it?

Jan: In a bank.

Nicole: In Salem?

Jan: Yes, in Salem.

Nicole: Listen, you fruitcake --

Jan: Hey, watch with the name-calling.

Nicole: Why didn't you go to the bank last night when I told you to?

Jan: Because the bank was closed.

Nicole: Then in the morning?

Jan: Look, I am very, very, very busy. I've had to squeeze a dozen oranges, I had to bake Shawn his favorite dessert, I had to prepare for his shiatsu massage...

Nicole: You know what? Hey, hey, hey. If you don't get with the program, Jan, the only person you're going to be massaging is your cellmate in the women's penitentiary. Now, get the cash and get it now.

Belle: My mom was... the best listener. She did everything a mom was supposed to do. She did everything a mom wasn't supposed to do. She was the mom everything wished they had, only we didn't have her long enough. But the time we did have her was a gift. She was my best friend... truly. And she always will be.

Hope: Family and friends meant everything to Marlena, but I don't need to tell you that. As a member of the Salem P.D., I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. And as friend and family, I'm here to say that I loved her. And I'll always miss her.

Sami: Mom. Mom, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry that I was such a terrible daughter to you. I know I never treated you like a friend. You always had to clean up my messes for me, and -- and then I would make you feel guilty that I had made the mess in the first place. Of course, the worst thing that I ever did... I let you down. I knew... that John was going to take you from us. And I didn't do anything to stop it. Well, Mom, I can promise you this -- if it is the last thing I do, I will make sure that John and Kate and Bo all pay for what they've done to you.

Shawn-D: I'm coming, Belle.

Jan: All right, Nicole, I'll get the money. But first, I have to make sure that Shawn won't mind if I leave for a little while.

Nicole: Uh, I'm sure he knows you're coming right back.

Jan: Now, I am going to be getting this money back someday, right?

Nicole: Of course.

[Glass shatters]

Jan: Oh, my God. Shawn!

Jansen: Merciful lord, turn toward us and listen to our prayers. Open the gates of paradise to your servant Marlena. And help us who remain to comfort one another with assurances of faith until we all meet in Christ and are with you with our sister forever. We ask this to Christ our lord, amen. In the name of the father and the son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Sami: Lucas, I forgot to put will's teddy bear in the casket for him. I'm glad your mom took him away because he -- it's too much for him. Lucas, how am I supposed to do this? How am I supposed to live without my mom?

Lucas: Let's go, okay?

Sami: No. No, Lucas, I think I need... I'm not ready to say goodbye.

Lucas: Sami, come on.

Sami: I just need a few more minutes, please.

Lucas: All right.

Belle: Brady, thank you for saying such nice things about my mom.

Brady: I just really wish I said them when she was alive.

John: She knew, son.

Philip: It was a very nice service and an honor to be here, John.

John: Thanks for coming, Philip.

Philip: Of course.

Brady: Hey, Belle, do you want to get out of the house, or do you want to go home and get some sleep?

Belle: I honestly don't know what to do with myself right now.

Hope: Hey. John.

Hope: Come here, sweetie. Belle. I just wanted to see if you needed anything before I go back to the station.

John: No thanks. We appreciate everything you've done.

Hope: I also wanted to say that, um, Bo really wanted to be here today. He just didn't feel that you'd appreciate it.

John: Yeah, yeah. You think that's why your son didn't show up, either?

Hope: I wish I knew.

Belle: Wait. You haven't heard from Shawn, either?

Hope: No, I haven't, and to be honest with you, I'm -- I'm a little worried. If he had heard about Marlena, I'm sure he would've come home.

Belle: I'm really worried about him, too.

Hope: We'll track him down.

Sami: Um, excuse me, sir. Uh, I need another minute with my mom, please.

Milbauer: Certainly.

Sami: Mom, I lost you once when I was a little girl, and... I got you back. But I spent all my time being angry that I had -- had to live without you in the first place. And... I never stopped and took time to appreciate what I'll never have again.

[Insects buzzing]

Sami: I would -- I would do anything. I would do anything to hear you say "I love you" one more time.

[Insects buzzing]

[Birds chirping]

Sami: Mom. You weren't supposed to leave me.

[Buzzing, chirping stop ]

Celeste: She's here.

Sami: Oh, God, why did you let them take my mom?

[Thumping]

Sami: Oh -- oh, my God. Mom? Mom?

Marlena's voice: Sami. Let me out of here.

Sami: [Gasps] Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

“Next on Days Of Our Lives”

Jan: I'm going to teach you a lesson that lying is bad.

Nicole: You can't resist me.

Sami: I heard her. I heard her calling my name.
