Jennifer: Lexie, listen, I appreciate your concern, I really do. But Patrick is a friend. I mean, he was just beaten within an inch of his life. I'm not going to throw him out on the street. He's going to stay here with me.

Lexie: Jennifer, I think you're making a big mistake.

Patrick: She's right, Jennifer. I'm outta here.

Jennifer: Absolutely not. I-I will not let you go.

[Telephone rings]

Belle: Why isn't Shawn answering his phone, Philip? Maybe something's wrong.

Philip: What's wrong is Shawn once again not being here when you need him. For God's sake, Belle, your mother was killed tonight.

Belle: He doesn't know that yet.

Philip: It's all over the news. Now, what the hell is the matter with him?

Shawn-D: What the hell is wrong with me?

Jan: [Humming]

Jan: Perhaps you should lie down, dear. They'll call back.

Shawn-D: Belle -- I know it's Belle. That was her ring.

Shawn-D: She needs me. That -- the news report we just heard about was about her mom. She was killed.

Jan: Your young lady's mother was that terrible serial killer?

Shawn-D: I need to go to her.

Jan: My word.

Shawn-D: I need to go to her. She needs me. She --

Sami: Whoever is responsible is going to pay. Someone is going to pay for killing my mother.

Lucas: Sami, stop it. Calm down.

Sami: I'm not going to calm down! I am going to find justice for my mother. She died with the whole world thinking that -- that she was some kind of monster, Lucas, because the police, they made her confess to all those murders by drugging her.

Lucas: Sami, that was truth serum.

Sami: No, it was a set-up, Lucas. They made her sign that confession, and they made her plead guilty without so much as a trial, and then they shot her before she could prove that she was innocent. They shot her. My mom should still be alive. She should still be alive.

Celeste: Oh, I wish I could sleep as peacefully as that innocent child. Ah, well, Alexandra should be home soon. I think I'll make some tea.

Celeste: [Gasps]

Woman: It's the serial killer.

Man: I'm glad she's dead.

Bo: What the hell is he doing? John, hold on, man. I'm sorry, but... I can't let you do this. We got to take Marlena to the morgue.

John: Over my dead body. You get the hell out of my way. You'll never hurt my wife again.

Celeste: [Gasps] Dear God. The killer's mask in flames. Why would I have such a vision?

[Telephone rings]

Philip: Look, Belle, I'm -- I'm sorry. I don't want to upset you any more than you already are, but Shawn should have never left you tonight.

Belle: Maybe he's ignoring me on purpose.

Jan: Good heavens. You must be careful.

Jan: Did you hurt yourself?

Shawn-D: What is the matter with me?

Jan: Perhaps you had too much to drink.

Shawn-D: I just -- I had, um, what... what was in that peppermint tea?

Sami: [Sobbing]

Lucas: Shh, Sami, listen to me. Sami, you've got to face the truth. John loves Marlena. He does. He always has. He's the one who tried to save her life. Please.

Sami: No, he killed her. John killed my mother.

John: I'm warning you, Bo, get out of my way. My wife is dead. You can't hurt her anymore.

Hope: John, don't do this. Think about Marlena. What would she want? Let us take her to the funeral home.

John: This is what she would want. Now both of you just get the hell out of my way.

Bo: Come on, man. Don't make me call my --

John: Make you what, call in your sharpshooters and gun me down the same way you had my wife shot dead in cold blood? Well, you better do it, commander, 'cause that is the only way you will ever stop me.

Hope: Wait. Let him go.

Bo: Go where? Where is he going? What is he doing? Where is he taking her?

John: I couldn't help you in this world, doc, but I will see to it that you find peace in the next.

Hope: I should call Belle and Mimi. They need to know what happened.

Hope: Belle's phone's busy. Maybe she's talking to Shawn.

Bo: Yeah, he'd call her as soon as he heard the news.

Hope: I pray to God he's on his way back. She's going to need him so much.

Belle: I can't believe Shawn's not answering my phone calls.

[Knock on door]

Philip: I'll get it.

Belle: Philip, maybe that's Shawn.

Philip: Yeah. Mom, what are you doing back here?

Kate: Honey, I heard the news on the radio, and the first person I thought about was Belle. How's she doing?

Philip: Well, not so good. She's been trying to get a hold of Shawn.

Kate: You're right, that's not so good. You have to stop her.

Shawn-D: What is -- what is it? What -- what was in the tea?

Jan: Why, nothing, dear, but, uh, some herbs and a touch of honey, though I suppose you could be allergic to fresh peppermint.

Shawn-D: No, no...

Jan: Some people are, you know.

Shawn-D: That's not what's making me feel like this. I don't know, something seriously wrong with me right now. I want to know what the hell --

Jan: Perhaps if you lie down, then...

Shawn-D: I have to -- I have to get my phone. I have to see if Belle left any messages.

Jan: No, you canít.

Sami: [Sobbing]

Lucas: You're not alone, okay? You got me, and you got will. We're going to help you get through this. We're all going to get through this together.

[Telephone rings]

Lucas: You want me to get that for you?

Lucas: Are you sure? I'll get it.

Sami: No. No. No. Hello?

Hope: Sami, it's hope. I guess you've heard.

Sami: Well, I didn't just hear it, hope, I saw it on live TV -- my mother being gunned down in cold blood.

Hope: I'm so sorry.

Sami: How could they do it, hope? Aunt hope, how could they -- how could they just kill her like that?

Hope: It wasn't meant to happen.

Sami: It wasn't meant to?!

Hope: Sami, we'll explain everything to you later in person. Right now, I'm calling to let you know that John's here at st. Luke's with your mother's body.

Sami: What? He has no right to touch her.

Hope: Well, he has, and he's here.

Sami: Not for long. Lucas --

Lucas: What?

Sami: Um, um, will you call grandpa Shawn and ask him if he'll watch will? We'll take him down to the pub right now.

Lucas: Yeah, but wait a -- what's going on?

Sami: We have to go to st. Lukeís. We have to get that bastard away from my mother.

Lucas: What?

Jennifer: Patrick, listen, you are not going anywhere. You are staying right here.

Lexie: Actually, I can take you to the free clinic, Patrick. Social services will find a place for you to stay.

Jennifer: Lexie, will you -- will you stop, please? I told you, the reason he got beat up is because of me. My grandmother -- she left me bearer bonds, lex. They were so valuable, and they were stolen.

Lexie: Were they?

Jennifer: Lexie, he's the one who brought the Bonds back to me. Whoever beat him up did this in retaliation 'cause he got the Bonds. Just one of the -- one of the many reasons I feel indebted to him.

Lexie: Okay. Something tells me there's more to this story. Why don't you tell us what it is, Patrick? Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?

Jennifer: Lexie, the entire time that Patrick has been a guest in my home, he has not given me the slightest reason to distrust him.

Lexie: Okay, Jennifer, whether or not Patrick was rescuing your grandmother's bearer Bonds, he has done something that makes me, as an ex-cop, very suspicious. You were the victim of a felony, Patrick. Why wouldn't you report that to the police? What exactly are you hiding?

Shawn-D: Could you... Belle needs me. She needs... what are you -- what are you doing? What do you think you're doing? What --

Jan: You young folk and your silly phones. Anyone can see you're not well. Whatever it is can wait.

Shawn-D: No... it canít. I need to talk to Belle, okay? I just, um... need to make sure that she's -- you know, she -- she's right.

Jan: [Thinking] Belle, Belle, Belle. If it's the last thing I do, I'll make you forget all about that loser.

Shawn-D: Okay... miss B.... I just -- I-I need my phone back now.

Jan: [Thinking] Damn. Why is that stupid drug taking so long? Maybe it just needs a little help.

Jan: Finally, Shawn, you're all mine.

Kate: I'm so sorry, sweetie.

[Cellular phone rings]

Belle: Maybe that's Shawn.

Belle: Shawn?

Hope: No, Belle, it's hope.

Belle: Oh, my God. Have you heard from him?

Hope: No. He hasn't called you?

Belle: No, no, I left him a message. Were you there when it happened?

Hope: I'm so sorry, honey. Yes, I was.

Belle: Why did they do it? Why did they have to kill my mom?

Hope: Belle... I can only tell you how sorry we all are.

Belle: Where is she? Where is my mom?

Hope: Your dad's taken her Body to st. Luke's church.

Belle: He took her to st. Luke's?

Hope: He's saying prayers for her. I thought u might want to be here, honey.

Belle: Yeah, yeah. I'm on my way.

Hope: Can Mimi drive you? I don't think you should drive.

Belle: No, Philip's here. He'll come with me. We'll be right there.

Hope: Belle's on her way over.

Hope: I hope she gets here soon.

John: Heavenly father... I give my wife to you... to keep and to watch over. Please grant her mercy, o lord, and forgiveness... so she can at last rest in peace. We may never know the truth, but I will go to my own grave believing in her, believing in my heart... that she is not guilty, not consciously, of these unspeakable horrors. So she's with you now, and she's safe in a place where no one will ever... hurt her again. What do I do without her, God? What do I do without her? Her love transformed me. It made me whole. She gave me life, and when she needed me most, I couldn't save hers. I'm so sorry, baby. I promised you... and I failed you. And for that... I will never forgive myself.

Hope: Why, Bo? Why did this have to happen?

Sami: That is exactly what I would like to know.

Lucas: Come on, Sami, don't do this.

Sami: How could you do it, uncle Bo? How could you kill my mother?

Bo: Sami, listen to me. You don't know the --

Sami: I saw it on the news. You don't try to deny it, okay? 'Cause I saw it. You gave the order to have your men hunt my mother down like an animal, and then shoot her on sight. God, that is cold-blooded murder, uncle Bo, and I swear to God, I will make sure that you pay for it.

Lexie: It's a simple question, Patrick. Why don't you want to report this to the police?

Patrick: I didn't call the police because, first of all, I can't I.D. the thugs who did this. I didn't get a good enough look. But more importantly, I don't want to get Jennifer involved. I call the cops, this is all over the news.

Lexie: So what?

Patrick: So everyone in town will know about her inheritance. That's going to make Jennifer a target for every lowlife out there trying to take advantage. Jennifer's been good to me, and I'm not willing to expose her to that -- not in her condition. She and the baby are too important to me -- to everyone.

Lexie: Patrick, I hope that you really do have Jennifer's best interests at heart. Look, I apologize if I seem suspicious. It's just that I care about Jennifer also a great deal.

Patrick: Of course. I don't blame you for being suspicious. I probably would be, too.

Lexie: Uh, look, um, I-I need to go check on Theo.

Jennifer: Yeah, it's late. Let me walk you out, lex.

Lexie: Okay.

Patrick: Dr. Carver...

Lexie: Yeah?

Patrick: Thanks for coming by. Thanks for everything.

Lexie: You're welcome.

Jennifer: Yeah, Lexie, thank you very much.

Lexie: Uh-huh.

Jennifer: You know, when I called you, I paged you earlier, I had no idea about Marlena, and I just can't even imagine how difficult that was for you, and all the mixed emotions you were feeling. I really kind of feel them myself.

Lexie: Yeah. I'm just glad that it really is over now. Listen... you be careful with Patrick, okay?

Jennifer: Lexie, he is really a good guy. I promise you.

Lexie: Okay. I hope so. I love you, sweetie.

Jennifer: Good night.

Lexie: Good night.

Jennifer: Be really careful going home.

Lexie: Yeah, you be careful, too.

Jennifer: Okay. Bye.

Jennifer: Patrick, what do you think you're doing?

Patrick: I'm leaving, Jennifer, and this time, you're not going to stop me.

Sami: I will never forgive you for this, uncle Bo. Do you hear me? I will never forgive you for this.

Hope: Sami, Bo gave orders for the police to hold their fire, but they couldn't hear him.

Sami: What, that's some sort of excuse? He never should have arrested her in the first place. My mother was an innocent victim.

Bo: Sami, that is not true. Your mother was anything but innocent. Look, I feel terrible about the way things turned out, but I had a job to do. Your mother caped from her prison cell, she stole a gun. Everyone knew she was dangerous.

Sami: God. This would never have happened if my father were still alive. No way in hell. He would have done whatever it took to save my mother's life, not take her life.

Hope: Bo did not kill your mother.

Sami: He gave the order for them to shoot to kill. He might as well have pulled the trigger himself.

Lucas: I'm really sorry. She has no idea what she's saying right now.

Hope: I know, I know. Thank you. You okay?

Bo: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. I just... can't help but wonder if Sami's right. I mean, if my brother was here to handle this whole thing, would he have been able to prevent Marlena's death?

Kate: I figured you'd be here with Sami.

Lucas: Yeah, well, she needs me.

Kate: You'll never learn, will you, Lucas?

Philip: Belle, you know you don't have to do this.

Belle: Yes, I do. I'm just so scared, Philip. When I see my mom's Body, it's going to be too real. I keep praying that this is some horrible nightmare that I'm going to wake up from, because my mom can't be dead. She canít.

Philip: Come on.

Sami: [Sobbing]

John: Oh, Samantha.

Sami: Don't touch me. You are the one who should be dead... instead of her. [Sobbing]

Sami: You get away from my mother. It is your fault she's dead just as much as it is Bo's. Grandma was right when she said you would do this, that -- that you would be the one to kill her.

John: You don't know how wrong you are, Samantha. I tried to save your mother's life.

Sami: You are the one who accused her. You turned her in as the serial killer. It is because of you that she was in jail in the first place. You set this whole thing in motion when -- when you told on her because you wanted her dead.

John: Don't you dare say that to me again. I loved your mother with every fibre of my Body. I never stopped loving your mother. I never lost faith in your mother. And I was damn determined to prove that she was innocent, determined to prove that she had nothing to do with any of these murders, and God knows I would have died in her place!

Sami: How dare you, John?! You are wrong! You're lying! You never loved her. And you -- you never deserved to be with her. And it's because of you that my mother is dead!

Belle: That is not true. Sami, now is not the time for us to be blaming each other.

John: Oh, it's all right, izzy. What we have to do right now is just hang in there together as a family and support each other.

Sami: Family? How dare you use that word in front of me, John, when you destroyed ours? Mom was the person who bound us all together, and now that she is gone, we have no family! [ Sobbing]

John: She loved you so much, izzy. Before she died, she wanted you to know that.

Belle: I know. I saw her on the news. I couldn't believe she was saying goodbye. Dad, what are we going to do without her?

John: I don't know. I don't know, but together, we'll -- we'll get through this.

Belle: I need to say goodbye to her. Mom...

Jan: My fantasy has finally become a reality... right before my own eyes. And won't you be surprised when you wake up and find our little love nest. Just think of it, Shawn -- the two of us together forever, the way we were meant to be.

Shawn-D: Belle.

Jan: Did you just say "Belle"? You are so going to regret that.

Celeste: [Gasps] Oh, God. Oh, dear God, no, no. Marlena may be dead, but... the nightmare -- it isn't over.

Bo: Hey, what's up?

Hope: I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost you.

Bo: Hey, hey, look at me. That's not going to happen. I'm not going anywhere. Come here.

Bo: Hey, you all right?

Hope: Just hold me. Hold me.

Bo: Sure.

John: Ahem. Philip... could you, uh, take my daughter out for some air? I'm worried about how much more of this she can take.

Philip: John, I will take care of Belle. Don't you worry about her.

John: Thank you.

Belle: [Sobbing]

Kate: I can't tell you how sorry I am. No one knows more than me how much you loved her.

Sami: I knew it! I knew it! You wanted my mother dead so you two could be together.

Kate: Oh.

Belle: [Sobs] This doesn't seem real. My mom can't be dead.

Philip: I know. I know. Believe me, I know. I just lost my dad. I know how hard it is, especially when you're alone. But, Belle, you won't be. I will be here for you wherever and whenever you need me, I promise.

Belle: Thank you so much.

Jan: I'm warning you, Shawn, you better forget about Belle. You're mine now. We're going to be happy together. And believe me when I tell you I'm going to make sure it lasts forever.

Jennifer: Patrick, I will not let you do this. You are in no condition to go anywhere.

Patrick: Jennifer, you've done enough. I can't impose on you anymore.

Jennifer: How many times do I have to tell you, you're not imposing. Please. Look, why don't -- why don't you let me pay you back for all the times you've taken care of me and the baby? I insist. Come on. Sit down. All right. Just sit down and rest, and, uh, I'm going to make you some nice soup, okay?

Patrick: Okay.

[Cellular phone rings]

Patrick: Yeah.

Man: Well, I hope you finally got the message, Lockhart. It's time for you to do the job that you were sent to Salem to do. Target Jennifer Deveraux.

Patrick: Look, I told you, I refuse to do anything to hurt Jennifer.

Man: I'd rethink that, Lockhart, all right? You don't get with the program, the next time, little blondie may be the one getting the beating.

Jennifer: All right. Your soup will be ready any minute. Here you are. I really hope you changed your mind about leaving.

Patrick: Looks like I have no choice.

Tek: Well, I'm going to head to the station, see what's going on.

Lexie: No, no. Not before you give Theo his present. And I'm sure he'll be so excited to know that you plan on coaching him into the pros, right?

Tek: He's a great kid. Abe would be so proud of him.

Lexie: Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure he would. So how about we go upstairs and put this in Theoís crib so it'll be right there for him when he wakes up in the morning, huh?

Tek: Sounds good.

Lexie: Come on.

Celeste: Oh, this is not good. This is not good at all.

[Gasps] What -- what? Aah!

Jan: [Squeals]

Belle: Shawn promised that he would be there for me, and now -- Philip, how can he let me go through this alone?

Philip: Belle, I told you, you're not alone. I am here, and I am going to take care of you. I swear it.

Belle: Philip, you are such a good friend. What would I do without you?

Lucas: Wait a minute. Wait. Sami, come on. I mean, you don't really believe that -- that John could --

Sami: Are you kidding? I know that Kate is thrilled that my mother's dead, because now she can be with John. It looks like the two of them got away with murder.

Lucas: John loved your mother. He was there for her till the end. Sami, he wanted to clear her name. He was trying to save her life. He even risked his own life. I wish we all had that kind of love. You know, maybe someday, if we're lucky, we --

Sami: No. No way, Lucas. If you believe, even for a second, that murdering John Black and all of his lies, then there is no way there's ever going to be a chance for us.

John: Doc... the answer's out there somewhere. I know it is. And if only I could have found it sooner. Now it's too late.

Bo: It's over. This is all over. Now we can start to heal, get on with our lives.

Celeste: [Gasping]

Celeste: Marlena. What is it? Why have you come back?

Marlena: I've come to warn you, Celeste.

Celeste: Warn me of what?

Marlena: The danger is not over. The suffering has not ended. More people will die.

Celeste: Oh, God, no, no.

Marlena: Yes! You must prepare yourself. You must prepare everyone, because everyone in Salem is going to die.

ďNext on Days Of Our LivesĒ

Sami: He is cold and heartless, just like his father. He doesn't give a damn what is happening to you.

Jan: I'm sorry, Shawn, but you leave me no choice.

Hope: Would you two stop for a second and think about what you're doing? My God, what, hasn't there been enough death already?

Celeste: I don't want to be a part of this!

Marlena: You have no choice.
