Lexie: Ah. Very good. Your vitals are stabilizing, Jennifer.
Hope: Well, we Horton women are tough. What's next, Lex?
Lexie: I want to give an ultrasound, if she's up to it. Jennifer? Good. Hope, uh, you can stay if you like.
Hope: Thank you.
Jennifer: No, you can't stay. I want you to go check on Marlena and find out what's going on with the investigation. Hope, Marlena can't be the one who murdered Jack. She can't be.
Hope: Jen, don't get yourself upset, please.
Jennifer: I know. I know it's not good for the baby. And I told Lexie that's the whole reason this is happening, is all the stress.
Hope: You're sure you don't want me to stay? 'Cause I can, no problem.
Jennifer: No, I want you to go. I want you to find out what's going on and come back and tell me.
Hope: You hang in there, okay?
Hope: You take good care of her, Lex. I know you will.
Lexie: Yes, I will. I should have taken better care of you, Jennifer, but I just -- I thought your cramps had subsided.
Jennifer: Lexie, they did. They did. They were completely gone, I'm telling you.
Lexie: Still, I should have insisted on bringing you in here.
Jennifer: Listen, I think that -- that maybe we both just need to take a really deep breath, okay?
Lexie: Ah. Good idea.
Jennifer: Ha ha ha.
Lexie: Ha ha. So, are you ready to start? Okay. Let me know if there's any discomfort, all right?
Jennifer: You know how much I hate that word. Oh! Oh. Oh.
Lexie: Are you still in pain?
Jennifer: No, no.
Lexie: Are you sure?
Jennifer: Yeah, yeah, I think my little soccer player just kicked a goal, that's all.
Jennifer: Come on, little one. I keep telling everyone how strong you are. Don't make a liar out of me. Ha ha. You just need to stay in there. It is too soon for you to be born. You know, Lexie, this -- this baby's a fighter. It's going to be okay. [Heart beating]
Lexie: [Sighs] Jennifer... nothing's changed. Abnormal cell growth is stealing space from the baby, causing fetal distress. That's why you're cramping.
Jennifer: You know, Lexie, I'll do whatever I can to keep the baby, I will. I'll stay in bed for the whole pregnancy if I have to. I'll just -- I'll just stay in bed -- oh! Oh!
Lexie: Okay, breathe. Breathe, Jennifer, come on. That's it. Deep breaths. Deep breaths.
Lexie: Okay, uh...
Lexie: Jennifer, listen, I know how much you want this baby, okay? But your contractions have obviously started again. They're coming at regular intervals. I am so sorry, sweetie, but it looks like you're beginning to miscarry.
Jennifer: No, Lexie, I can't. I can't. This baby is a part of Jack. It's -- it's him staying in our lives. This is a new beginning for me and Abby. I can't lose our baby, Lexie. I can't.
Belle: Oh, my God, Shawn. Are you proposing?
Shawn-D: Yeah. Yeah, I-I am. I'm sorry. This probably isn't how you dreamed it would be. If I had more time, I probably would have planned some big romantic evening, but... instead, I'm just -- pulled you up here onto the hospital roof, and --
Belle: No, no, it's not that. It's just this has probably been the worst day of my life.
Sami: Do you think that there is any way Mom could hurt anybody, never mind murder nine people in cold blood?
Belle: No, Sami! God, no. Of course not.
Sami: Well, then, you don't have anything to worry about. You did the right thing by lying, and Shawn is never going to find out the truth.
Belle: It just -- it feels wrong to want to be happy, you know? It's like I don't deserve to be.
Shawn-D: What are you talking about? Of course, you deserve to be happy.
Belle: Shawn, I'm just afraid. My dad's saying that my Mom murdered all these people. Your great-grandmother, your two grandfathers, your Grandmother Caroline, your Aunt Maggie, your Uncle Roman -- oh, my God. I can't even look at you right now.
Shawn-D: Why? It's not like you did anything wrong. Hey. Besides... you were with your mother when my grandfather was killed, so I don't see how she could be the serial killer.
Belle: Shawn, remember when I needed to talk to you about something before?
Woman: Belle, I'm glad I I found you.
Belle: Is it my Mom?
Woman: Yes. She's awake.
Belle: Oh, my God. Shawn, I need -- I need to see her.
Shawn-D: Yeah, yeah. I'll go with you.
Bo: Hey. Marlena's awake.
Hope: You don't look like that's a good thing, Bo.
Bo: She claims she's innocent.
Sami: Mom, I am so glad that you are awake. Please, now, tell us all about John's lies. Tell us that you -- you didn't really confess to him, right? And then you certainly didn't pull a gun on him. I mean, it's his gun, after all, right? And tell us how he -- how he pushed you off the balcony and how he tried to kill you. Tell us you didn't do it, right, Mom?
Marlena: I'm innocent.
Sami: See? I told you. I told you that she was innocent.
John: Yes. The Marlena we all know and love couldn't be more innocent. Doc, you're not responsible for what happened.
Sami: She is not a murderer. Damn it, John.
John: We love you, Doc. Whatever's gone wrong inside of you, we're going to get you the help that you need.
Sami: Don't you even think about --
John: We're just so glad that you came back to us, baby. [Monitor beeping] [High-pitched beeping]
Sami: Mom? Mom? Oh, my God. Oh, my God, her heart.
John: Hang in there, Doc. Easy, Doc.
Sami: God, get away from her, you murderer. You're trying to kill her again! Nurse! Nurse, help!
Jennifer: Lexie, just listen. If I really am in labor, can't you just give me something to make it stop, please?
Lexie: Well, uh, there is a medication that can be effective s some instances, but... Jennifer, honey, you have to consider the risk to your own health.
Jennifer: No, I am considering my baby, Lexie. I am a mother, and I want to give my child a chance. What is so wrong with that? A chance -- that's all I'm asking for. You just told Hope that I was stable, so can you please put this baby first and save this little baby -- ow!
Lexie: Okay, just breathe. Come on. Deep breaths.
Belle: Shawn, wait. You know, you don't have to go in with me.
Shawn-D: No, I-I want to. We're going to be family. Marlena's your mom. She's the reason you're here and part of my life.
Belle: What if it's true? What if she did all those horrible things? I am her flesh and blood. What does that make me?
Shawn-D: Beautiful. My sweet, perfect girlfriend.
Belle: I'm not perfect. I'm so not perfect.
Shawn-D: All right, listen, just come on. Your mother's awake. Be happy about that. The rest is just going to work itself out, all right?
Sami: Oh, my God, Mom.
Belle: Oh, my God. What's happening?! Mom?
Sami: Belle --
Belle: Is she okay? What's going on? Dad, tell me what's happening.
John: Sweetheart, you don't need to be in here.
Belle: I don't want to leave. I want you to tell me --
John: Easy, sweetheart. Easy now.
Belle: What's going on?
Sami: Hope, listen to me. You saw the way that he -- that she reacted when -- when John got near her. She's afraid of him. You have to keep John away from my mom before he -- before he kills her like he did Grandma and Dad and all those other poor people.
Belle: Sami, stop it.
Man: Let me know if there's any further change.
Sami: Look, Hope, listen to me. My mom is not the --
John: Sami, take it outside.
Man: I'd like to speak with all of you over here, please.
Sami: Oh, fine. Just keep John away from me.
Belle: Sami, stop it.
Man: Please, all of you.
Belle: Is my Mom okay?
Man: She's been sedated, but what she needs now is peace and quiet and rest.
Belle: Can I see her?
Man: Not tonight. It wouldn't be wise.
John: Honey, why don't you and Shawn go home and get some rest? You can come back in the morning and see mom. Am I correct in assuming that, Doctor?
Man: Depending on Dr. Evans' condition, yes.
John: All right. There, see? Everything's going to be okay.
Sami: Not for you, John.
John: Shawn, take good care of her for me, okay?
Shawn-D: I will.
Shawn-D: I'll see you guys later.
Hope: All right.
Bo: All right, take it easy. Doc, as you know, we're in the middle of a murder investigation right now. I'd like to question Marlena before she goes to sleep for the night. Dr. Carver said it'd be all right.
John: You know, I think Dr. Delgado made it perfectly clear that what Marlena needs right now is a little bit of rest, not another confrontation, Bo.
Sami: Oh, I'm sure we all know why you don't want Mom to answer the questions.
Sami: Because she'll say that you tried to kill her.
Dr. Delgado: As Dr. Evans' physician, I can tell you, if you question her now after the episode she had, you run the risk of killing her.
Bo: Yeah, well, it'd be doing us all a favor.
John: Bo, what kind of a crack is that? It's my wife we're talking about! How can you say that, man?!
Bo: Get the hell off of me!
Hope: Stop it. Get off him.
Sami: Oh, please. He can't stop, because he's violent. He's a murderer, and what's one more killing, right? I mean, you're Stefano's killing machine.
John: Shut up. I'm no damn killer. Come on, Bo. You have known Marlena most of your adult life. You can't be saying that about her. Look, I know she's done some horrible things here, and I can't explain any of it, but she is my wife, and I love her, and I will defend her to the death.
Sami: You mean her death, don't you, John?
Hope: That is enough! We don't have all the facts yet.
Bo: Okay. I'm sorry. I take it back. I don't want Marlena dead -- not yet. Not till I get some answers.
Bo: What? Look, his precious little wife beat you to within an inch of your life.
Hope: We don't know for sure if it was Marlena who attacked us.
Sami: I am telling you that my Mother is not guilty of the things you're accusing her of.
Bo: She confessed. What the hell more do you need?
Sami: Look, Bo, listen to me. We're talking about a so-called confession that was made to John. Don't you think it's interesting that no one else was there to hear her admitting to being the serial killer? My Mother just told you that she is innocent. How can you listen to this guy over her? He -- he just attacked you, didn't he?
John: Marlena is a psychiatrist. She knows the law. And what she probably meant when she said she was innocent is she's not criminally responsible. Now come on -- the woman you've known all these years could not have committed those murders, not in her right mind. She's obviously sick. She's -- she's ill. She needs our help right now. We've got to give it to her.
Sami: Oh, God.
Bo: You want me to help the monster who destroyed my family?
Sami: I'm telling you, Bo, Mom has no reason for wanting to kill those people. John doesn't need a reason, right? I mean, he was trained by Stefano to kill the Brady family. Doesn't make sense that you would listen to this guy over my Mother.
Bo: What doesn't make sense is listening to you, Salem's biggest liar.
Sami: Okay. So explain to me how my Mom got super cop's gun away from him.
John: How'd you get my gun and almost put a bullet in my skull tonight?
Sami: I'm telling you, I will do anything to protect my Mother. Look, Bo, Hope, I know you're close to John, okay? But I saw him push her off the terrace, and his mission is to kill my Mother, and if you don't arrest him now, I swear, he's going to do it.
Belle: Shawn, I thought we were going home.
Shawn-D: We will. I just -- I wanted to come back up here and finish what we started.
Belle: I'm just not sure this is a good time.
Shawn-D: I know. This has been the worst day of your life. That's what I'm trying to do here. I'm just trying to turn that around... by proposing to you. Gran told me once a long time ago that you're ready for marriage when your love can get through the tough times. Our families have suffered so much because of this killer, and it doesn't matter what the truth is. One thing through it all has stayed the same... I love you. When I look... into my future, the only thing I ever see is you. And sometimes I believe in you more than I believe in myself. Our love is going to get through this, okay? In spite of everything.
Belle: I don't know if we can.
Shawn-D: Belle, I'm going to prove it to you.
Belle: Shawn --
Shawn-D: No, no, you can't stop me now. I'm on a roll. I know how much tradition means to you. It means the same thing to me. Back in Ireland, my grandfather, when he fell in love with my grandmother, he was poor. You know, he couldn't afford a ring, so he went to his mother, and she made these out of wool, because he couldn't wait, either.
Belle: These were your grandparents'?
Shawn-D: My grandmother loved you, Belle... and she would want you to have her ring. These symbolize happiness and good luck for the new generation. I know it-- I know it's not a diamond ring --
Belle: No, Shawn, it's -- it s so much more than that.
Shawn-D: They come from the heart. Okay. So I guess I got to replace this.
Belle: Shawn... no.
Julie: Hi, sweetheart.
Julie: Oh, Jen. You don't have to put on a happy face with me. I know. This has got to be one of the roughest days of your life.
Jennifer: Well, you know what? The baby's going to be okay because the contractions are stopping.
Julie: Good. I hope they do. You know, your Uncle Mickey and I are out there keeping Abby company and... it just crossed my mind -- all those years with Mickey and Maggie and all my years with Doug, we never had a biological child. But still, our lives were fulfilled and wonderful. You know, you and Jack already have a beautiful daughter. Your union was blessed when Abby came into your lives. If anything should happen with this baby...
Jennifer: Please don't -- don't say that.
Julie: I wouldn't want to see Abby lose you, too.
Jennifer: Julie, she won't.
Julie: Do you have Celeste's gift? Can you see into the future? One thing I wish you had seen -- the look on Abby's face when she heard you crying out in pain.
Jennifer: It's... I really would like to see her.
Julie: She's a tough cookie. She's a Horton.
Jennifer: Ha ha ha.
Julie: And she's still a little girl. I just want you to remember how much you mean to her. That's all I ask.
Abby: Hi, Mom.
Jennifer: Hi, sweetie. Oh... do you need a hug as much as I do right now? Oh...
Abby: I'm sorry, Mom.
Jennifer: Oh, sweetie, please, please, don't be sorry. It is so not your fault, baby.
Abby: It's not your fault, either.
Jennifer: Oh, Abby. I... I love you so much. Do you know that?
Abby: I love you, too.
Belle: No, Shawn, no, it's not that I don't want to marry you -- 'cause I do -- but --
Shawn-D: Don't say "but." Do you love me?
Shawn-D: Then that's all that matters.
Belle: No, Shawn, of course I want to marry you, but after you hear what I have to say, I don't think you're going to want to marry me. You think I am this good person, that I'm pure... but I have done something awful. Not just to you, but to your family. See, I-I thought that I had to choose between my love for you and my love and loyalty for my Mom. And I never, ever meant to hurt you, but I did.
Shawn-D: You didn't hurt me. You couldn't hurt me. I love you too much.
Belle: Shawn, I lied, okay? I lied to you, and a million times I wanted to take it back, but every single time, something stopped me and -- and now I'm just afraid it's too late. I told myself that it didn't matter because if it did matter, then it would mean this awful thing was true. And I couldn't -- I couldn't face that. But I know you're never going to forgive me.
Hope: Everyone here knows what it means to lose a parent, Sami. We all know how much it hurts. But it's no excuse to arrest someone without proof. So lay off the accusations, okay?
Sami: So you're going to just let him walk free to kill again?
Bo: There'll be an officer posted at that door 24/7.
Sami: Okay, but promise me you won't let him be alone with her.
Hope: When Marlena wakes up, we will question her, okay? Then we'll know better where we stand.
Sami: She already told you that she's innocent. What more do you need?
Bo: How about some proof?
John: Dr. Delgado has arranged a psychiatric consultation.
Bo: Psychiatric consultation for a shrink. Come on, man. She'll know how to beat the system. She'll plead insanity if she has to.
Sami: Okay, Uncle Bo, how about a lie detector test?
Bo: What would that prove, huh? She'll beat that, too.
Sami: How about giving John a lie detector test, huh?
John: Name the time. I'll be there.
Sami: Oh, what am I talking about? Of course Stefano's taught you every mind game in the book. You'll know how to beat it.
Hope: Would you just shut up?! You can't have it both ways, so make up your mind. Sami, we have lost so many people that we love. Is this what we're going to be left with -- anger, accusations, mistrust? Everyone watching their back all the time? Is that it?
Bo: Nope, not anymore, now that we've found the killer. In order for us to start our healing, Marlena has to be punished.
John: Speaking of healing... I'm bringing in somebody else to minister to all of us, including your mother, Samantha.
Sami: Minister to us? You better not be trying to pull any of that exorcism crap. My Mother is not possessed. You got that?!
Hope: John, do you think Marlena could really --
John: Possessed again?
Sami: Oh, okay. Okay. Wait a second. There is only one person in this room who's pretended to be a priest once upon a time, and it wasn't you, it wasn't you, and it certainly wasn't me. So when John is talking about good and evil, let's all remember that he is a proven liar.
Hope: Excuse me. Father Jansen. I'm so glad you came.
John: Thanks for coming, Tim.
Jansen: I'm so glad you called me, John. Where's Marlena?
John: Right in there.
Marlena: No. No, please. Leave me alone -- aah!
Abby: Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners...
Jansen: Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Hope and Sami: Amen.
Sami: What are you looking at, John? What, are you surprised? Were you expecting to see weird glowing eyes or burning skin or something? God, I hate you for what you've been thinking.
Jansen: The true condition of a person's soul is not easy to determine. There's no one test that gives us the truth. Has Marlena been sedated?
Hope: Yes, she has. The doctor said she'd probably sleep through the night.
Jansen: In that case, there's not much more I can do here other than offer comfort.
John: Yeah, I appreciate your time, Tim.
Sami: Give us a break, John. Just because you're friends with some real-life priest does not mean that you're going to be saved. God sees through your lies.
Jansen: He sees into us all, Sami. He sees into our souls.
Sami: John doesn't have a soul. He killed my Father. He deserves to rot in hell.
Hope: Excuse me, Father Jansen. May I talk to you in private, please?
Jansen: Certainly, my child.
Hope: Jen seems to be doing much better.
Lexie: Yeah, she -- she seems to be.
Hope: Lex, come here. I need to tell you something. Marlena was awake very briefly, just long enough to say that she was innocent.
Lexie: What -- what do you mean, she's retracting her confession?
Hope: Assuming she confessed in the first place.
Lexie: What? Hope, you're not telling me that john lied about Marlena confessing to him. Why? Why -- why would she do -- why would he do that?
Hope: I don't know. My head is spinning, too, Lexie. Honestly, right now, I don't know what to believe. I don't -- there are so many conflicting stories. I suppose we should follow my grandmother's advice and not pass judgment and just wait for the facts.
Hope: Gran taught me so many lessons... about love and integrity and trust and forgiveness. And I want to do my best to live by those words. That's all I can do.
Belle: I know that if I hadn't lied to you, things would have turned out different. But I never meant to hurt anyone, Shawn. I was just trying to do what was best for my family.
Shawn-D: Why are you crying like this? What did you lie to me about?
Belle: I told you I was with my Mom when your grandfather was murdered. I just wanted to give her an alibi. Shawn, I'm sorry. You were just trying so hard to prove that my Mom was the serial killer, and I didn't think she could kill anyone, let alone all those people. I just -- I just wanted you to see it my way, and -- and you kept at it, Shawn. I didn't know what to do, so I lied.
Shawn-D: You did not just tell me this. There is -- it's not true.
Belle: I'm sorry.
Shawn-D: You're sorry?!
Belle: I never wished so hard that I could do something over. Shawn, please, I will do anything to make it up to you.
Shawn-D: Don't you touch me. You were right about one thing. It's too late.
Jennifer: Hi, sweetie.
Abby: Are you okay, Mom?
Jennifer: Uh... yeah, yeah, I think I am.
Abby: And the baby?
Jennifer: I think that the baby is fine, too. I haven't had any contractions in a while, so that's good news, huh?
Abby: Yeah. It's great news.
Jennifer: You did it, you know. All those prayers -- they really made a difference.
Abby: Okay, Gram used to say God hears all our prayers. It's just that the answer...
Both: Can't always be yes.
Abby: I'm glad it was yes this time.
Jennifer: Yeah. Me too.
Jennifer: Yeah, baby?
Abby: I got really scared before. It sounded like something was hurting you a lot. I don't want anything to happen to you. I want us to be a family together forever. I really need you to be with me. Is it okay to tell you that?
Jennifer: Yeah, sweetie. It is so okay for you to tell me that, and I want to be with you more than -- more than anything. You know that?
Julie: Who's for ice cream?
Jennifer: Ooh, me. I'd like some ice cream.
Julie: Well, you may have some ice cream if Lexie says you may have some ice cream.
Mickey: All right, kiddo, do you want to hit the cafeteria for some, uh, chocolate chunk, hmm?
Abby: Will you be okay, Mom?
Jennifer: Yeah, sweetie, I'll be fine. I'll be even better if you give me a hug first.
Abby: I love you.
Jennifer: I love you, too, baby.
Julie: All right, my darling. Walk this way. Walk this way.
Abby: Ha ha ha ha.
Jennifer: Oh, Jack... I wish so much that you were here to tell me that I'm doing the right thing. I just feel so alone in this decision, and I so... desperately want our baby to be born. Oh. Oh, God, no. Please, no. Oh! Lexie! Oh! Lex!
Lexie: More contractions?
Jennifer: Oh, Lex, it hurts. It hurts really bad.
Lexie: Your labor is starting again, Jennifer.
Shawn-D's voice: Isabella Black, will you marry me?
Belle: How can everything be so wrong? All the things I thought my life would be... it's all changed forever.
Hope: Hey. Bo, look.
Sami: Mom, I am not going anywhere. I'm right here with you.
John: It's okay, Doc. Do you... remember anything that happened tonight?
Jansen: Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Marlena: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
Lexie: Come on, keep breathing. Keep breathing, Jennifer. You're almost through it.
Jennifer: All right, Lex. [Groans] Okay. All right. That was -- maybe it's just a cramp. It stopped, Lex. It stopped, I swear. I swear the contractions stopped. So the drugs -- they're working. I mean, maybe they just need a little bit more time, you know?
Lexie: Honey, when you're truly in labor, drugs only delay the inevitable.
Jennifer: Okay, so, what do we do now?
Jennifer: I mean, what do we do right now to save my baby, Lex?
Lexie: I consulted with Dr. Bader and the on-call neonatologist. They both want me to tell you how sorry they are.
Jennifer: No. Lexie...
Lexie: I'm sorry. If there were any other option, Jennifer...
Jennifer: Please don't tell me that, Lexie.
Lexie: If there was any chance, I would take it. I hope you know that.
Jennifer: Don't tell me I'm going to lose my baby. Please don't tell me that.
Lexie: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, there's nothing more I can do.
Belle: Shawn. See how well I know you? I knew you'd be here.
Shawn-D: Oh, my God, Belle. Just tell me that you were confused. Just tell me that you're not sure about the timing, that you were mixed up. Just -- just tell me that you're ju--
Belle: I can't, Shawn. I can't because I lied. And... I knew it was a lie when I said it to you. I just wanted to give my Mom an alibi. I was so sure -- so sure she was not the serial killer. I just don't know anymore. Shawn, you do believe that I'm sorry, right? You do know that if I could, I would take it back, right?
Shawn-D: You said something to me before that this was the worst day of your life. Now it's even worse, isn't it? For both of us. You know now that -- that things will never be the same.
Belle: Wait --
Bo: Marlena, did you say you were sorry?
Hope: Sorry for what?
Sami: Don't say anything, Mom. I know you're innocent.
Marlena: So many people died...
John: It's not your fault.
Bo: Like hell it isn't.
Marlena: I should've known. I should've stopped it. Of all people, I should've known.
Hope: Known what?
Marlena: The truth.
Hope: Marlena, do you remember what -- what happened on your terrace tonight?
Marlena: Um... John was there. He was angry and upset. And he wanted me to ad-- he wanted me to... admit that I was -- no, that can't be. No, I know... John's my husband. Uh... I... oh... I told him. I told him I was innocent. He got angry and -- and -- he yelled and -- and -- and he -- well, there was... his gun and... oh... then he -- he pushed me. Oh... he -- he pushed me off the balcony.
Shawn-D: She is responsible for the deaths of Uncle Roman, Aunt Maggie, Jack, Abe, Cassie --
Shawn-D: If you hadn't lied, then at least one of those people would still be alive.
Marlena: John is the serial killer.
Hope: I don't think we have a choice. We have to arrest John Black.
