Mimi and Rex: [Giggling]

Mimi: Wow. You think we would have had more fun at the Valentine’s Day dinner at Tuscany?

Rex: Well, I'm sure it was really fancy --

Mimi: But a romantic night at the Green Mountain Lodge is even better.

Rex: Yeah, I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to pay for this romantic getaway. But if I have to wash dishes for the rest of my life, it will have been worth it knowing I did something special for you.

Mimi: Rex, that's the sweetest thing you've ever said to me. Just for that, you wash, I'll dry.

Rex: As long as you don't mind being poor.

Mimi: I don't care. I like the pauper Rex better than the rich Rex.

Rex: You know, if there is one thing I have learned in the past couple years, it's that money means nothing, especially if I'm with the woman I love.

Mimi: Mm! I'm melting, I'm melting!

Mimi and Rex: [Giggling ]

Nicole: I can't believe this is happening. I've got to find a way to get into that safe. Oh, gee.

Jan: Ahh!

Nicole: Come here. Get up.

Jan: Ow! The safe -- the safe -- you mean the safe from the living room?

Nicole: Yes! Hello!

Jan: Okay, just checking.

Nicole: You know what? I don't think you understand how serious this is, do you?

Jan: Yes, I do!

Nicole: Look, Bo and hope want to nail me for a whole bunch of murders, including the one you committed yourself.

Jan: No, we committed it, remember? You talked me into doing it. You were gonna get me Shawn.

Nicole: Well, none of that matters now! If I can't open that safe and get my hands on Victor's will -- not to mention the file that incriminates me in Colin Murphy’s murder -- we are both toast.

Jan: Well, I saw Mr. Victor Kiriakis open the safe. I mean, if I had known you needed to get inside, I would have paid better attention.

Nicole: What? Jan, you're about to give me a heart attack. You saw Victor open the safe?

Hope: Are you as nervous as I am?

Bo: Damn right. Whatever my father put inside that safe is gonna prove that Nicole killed him. I need to prove that she's the serial killer. You know, I'll bet you anything Abe was about to arrest her for Colin Murphy’s murder when she whacked him.

Hope: So she just kept going on, killing any- and everyone who got in her way.

Bo: Damn right. Just a matter of time. Once we get that safe open, she's gonna be behind bars.

[Cellular phone rings]

Bo: Brady. Yeah, hey, Lex, she's right here.

Hope: Hey, Lex, sweetie, I am so sorry I didn't get right back to you, but my phone died. Can you believe that? And I can't get a replacement until tomorrow. So what's the latest on Jen? Jen did what? Are you kidding me? She invited him to... spend the night with her?

Bo: Spend -- who?

Patrick: Stop threatening me. I told you, I'm in Europe. I'll give you a ring when I get back in the states. Yeah, but I have something I need to take care of first.

Jennifer: Why did you just tell that person you're in Europe? What's going on? What are you trying to hide, Patrick?

[Window slams open]

Celeste: [Gasps]

Doug: Does that card mean what I think it means?

Celeste: Well, it could mean a lot of things. However, in this case it means... exactly what it says. Douglas, it's time for you to go straight to the police and reveal the identity of the killer.

Doug: Right. But I'm sorry. I can't do that.

Julie: Marlena, I'm sorry. I'd only call this late if it were a matter of life and death.

Marlena: What is it, Julie?

Julie: Doug knows the identity of the Salem stalker. I need to see you right away.

Marlena: Wow, that's, um, that's kind of a surprise, Julie. Did he, uh, did he tell you who the killer is?

Julie: No, for obvious reasons. He didn't want to endanger my life. But he still wants to be sure.

Marlena: All right, Julie, let's just see how much you know.

[Knock on door]

Marlena: Come in.

Julie: Marlena. Thank you so much for seeing me.

Marlena: Julie, I'll do whatever I can. Uh, you said that Doug knows the identity of the serial killer?

Julie: He's on his way to the police right now.

Hope: All right, Lex. Thanks. Take care.

[Locksmith drilling]

Bo: Everything all right?

Hope: No. Well, no, not really.

Bo: What's wrong?

Hope: You know that guy Patrick that Jennifer hit with her car?

Bo: Yeah.

Hope: She just invited him to move into her house with her.

Bo: She did what?

Hope: She did what? Exactly. It's unbelievable, Bo.

Bo: That doesn't sound like our careful, cautious Jen. Why would she do something like that?

Hope: It's got to be guilt. I'm sure that it's guilt, Bo. Could I have the phone back? I need to call her.

Bo: Yeah. You better do a background check on this character, is what you should do.

Hope: You are so smart. That's a good idea.

Man: I'm ready to open the safe.

Bo: Well, let's do it.

Man: One last bolt here, and we should be home free. I don't believe it.

Bo: What?

Man: A whole other set of bolts were just triggered.

Bo: Ah, damn it!

Man: I'm sorry, sir, but without the combination, I'm afraid --

Bo: Hey, don't say it! Don't even think it. You're gonna get that damn thing open right now!

Man: Okay. Just pray my drill bits don't break.

Hope: Shh, shh, shh. I know you're really tired, and I can see that you're just about to completely lose it, Bo. Just calm down.

Bo: A lot --

Hope: It'll happen.

Bo: Hope, a lot is riding on what's inside that safe.

Hope: How much longer is it going to be?

Man: A while!

Bo: Oh, for -- hey, look, you're worried about Jen. Go. Call her.

Hope: Are you sure? You're gonna be okay?

Bo: Yeah.

Hope: We're going to get the killer. Just be patient. It's going to happen. And if Nicole is the killer, she's not gonna get away with it. You can count on it.

Bo: All right, go.

Nicole: Jan, where are you?!  What are you doing in that?

Jan: Think it will give Shawn a rise?

Nicole: Forget Shawn. We have to think about the safe.

Jan: What's to think?

Nicole: Jan, you need to concentrate. There are cops downstairs. And we have a few important digits to remember.

Jan: Digits?

Nicole: The combination to the safe, you idiot! Come here. Just sit down. Sit.

Nicole: Here. Drink this.

Jan: Where's the cream and sugar?

Nicole: Straight black. You need to wake up. Come on. Faster. Let's go.

Jan: It's hot!

Nicole: Jan, come on. What is the combination? Here.

Jan: I can't remember.

Nicole: Oh, God! Come here.

Jan: Ow! Ow!

Nicole: You -- I can't take --

Jan: What did you do that for?

Nicole: Think, you drunken bitch! Think!

Celeste: Douglas, I don't understand why you won't go to the police.

Doug: Celeste, if you knew the identity of the killer, you would realize just how hard it is to believe that this person could -- could kill all these people that we love so much. And if I accuse her, and I'm wrong, then I destroy her life.

Celeste: But, Douglas, others have been blamed for being the stalker, too, but they've been cleared. And if this woman is truly innocent, darling, she will be cleared as well.

Doug: I don't know. Maybe I should just confront her first and see what she has to say for herself.

Celeste: Now, look. Don't be foolish. If your suspicions were confirmed by the spirits, then the person you believe to be the killer is the killer. The spirits don't lie. Now, look, you must hurry before it's too late. You must turn her in to the Salem police.

Marlena: Is Doug at the police station?

Julie: No. I don't know. I haven't been able to reach him. Bo and hope are covering the Kiriakis case, and I just thought it was so important to see you in person. Oh, Marlena, please, don't say anything about this. I don't want to put Doug in danger with the killer.

Marlena: Julie, don't you know who the killer is?

Julie: I don't have a clue. Doug won't tell me.

Marlena: Oh.

Julie: Doug didn't want to put me at risk.

Marlena: Well, that's very smart of him. I mean, anybody who has known the identity of the killer has been murdered.

Julie: Yes, but Doug knows. Does that mean he's going to die?

Marlena: Not if the killer doesn't know that he knows. I mean, if he keeps it to himself, he should be fine. Otherwise, countless other people will have to die.

Julie: You sound like you know how the killer's mind works.

Marlena: Oh, Julie, we're one and the same.

Rex: Wow, Mimi, what can I say? You inspire me!

Mimi: Rex, you're a wonderful lover. Um, where did you learn to do that upside-down thing?

Rex: From my planet upside-downus.

Mimi: Ha ha ha ha!

Rex: Kidding, kidding. Some men's health magazine. There was this whole article on defying gravity.

Mimi: Forget it. I like upside-downus better. You know what? Now you've inspired me to do some research of my own.

Rex: Don't change a thing. You're perfect just the way you are.

Mimi: Aw...

Jennifer: I, uh, I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I think I deserve to know why you're lying, especially if you're staying in my garage apartment.

Patrick: Yeah, I'm sorry you had to hear that. You're right. I was lying. I promised this car collector/enthusiast that I'd help him rebuild an engine as soon as I got back from Europe, but with my accident, I don't feel quite up to the gig, and with the economy the way it is, I just would hate for the collector to move on to someone else.

Jennifer: Is this because of the accident? I'm losing work for you? I am so sorry.

Patrick: No, no, no. Relax. It's okay, it's okay. You've more than made up for the accident by letting me stay here.

[Telephone rings]

Jennifer: Excuse me. Hello?

Hope: Hey, cuz, how you doing?

Jennifer: Uh, I'm fine. Thanks.

Hope: Good. Good. I'm glad to hear it.

Jennifer: Good. Uh, thank you for your concern.

Hope: It's not exactly what I'm concerned about.

Jennifer: Oh? What is?

Hope: Patrick. Can he hear this conversation?

Jennifer: Only if I talk really loud.

Hope: Okay, then let's be discreet. I have one thing to say. Are you absolutely nuts letting him stay at your house?

Jennifer: I guess Lexie told you, right?

Hope: Yes, she told me.

Jennifer: Did she also tell you that he is staying in the apartment over the garage?

Hope: Is that wise?

Jennifer: Listen, hope, he's harmless, all right? And besides that, he's an old friend of Jack’s.

Hope: Did Jack ever mention him?

Jennifer: Well, no, but Patrick seems to know a lot about Jack.

Hope: Jen, so what? Hey, I could surf the internet, too, and read all the back issues of the "Salem gazette." You know what? I don't like the sounds of this. I'm coming over there.

[Telephone rings]

Bonnie: Mm. Hello?

Patrick: Hello, mother.

Bonnie: Patrick, is that you?

Patrick: That's right, Mom. I'm coming home, and I want what's rightfully mine.

Hope: Bo?

Bo: Yeah?

Hope: I just spoke to Jennifer.

Bo: What did she say about this Patrick guy?

Hope: Apparently he's an old friend of Jack's, who Jennifer’s never met before, and Jack's never mentioned.

Bo: Oh. And he just happened to walk behind her car and get hit. That's quite a coincidence.

Hope: Yeah, quite a coincidence. I want to see if he's hiding anything.

Bo: Good.

Hope: Jennifer's very vulnerable right now. It would be the perfect time to take advantage of her.

Bo: I agree.

Hope: Any progress with the lock?

[Drill bit breaks]

Bo: No. He was right about two things. He'd break a bit, and this would take a while! You know, if you're worried about Jen, go. Be with her. I'll call you if we have any progress with this thing.

Hope: Try to relax. Just breathe.

Bo: Hope, there's no way I can relax, not with my lethal stepmother Nicole wandering the halls of this mansion. You know what? If there's anything incriminating in that safe, I'll bet you anything right now she's plotting her next move.

Jan: What -- what did you do that for?

Nicole: I need you to remember the combination, or we're both gonna be facing lethal injection.

Jan: But then Shawn will never see me in this.

Nicole: I'm gonna stuff that nightie down your throat if you don't get your head together and give me the combination. The police are downstairs, and they are close to opening the safe. And if they do, it is all over. So instead of Shawn, your roommate is going to be big bertha. Think, Jan. Think. You can do it.

Jan: Left...34. Or... was it right? Maybe 43?

Doug: You're right. If she's not the killer, she will be cleared by Bo and hope and the Salem P.D. Julie told me to go straight to hope, but I just had to see you first.

Celeste: I'm glad you did. Look, Douglas, I'm gonna keep that candle lit until you're safe. And with God's help, darling, well, the powerful white light, it will watch over and protect you.

Doug: Thank you so much, Celeste. Thank you. Next time I see you, this will be all over.

Doug: Now to find hope. But first, there's someone else I got to see.

Celeste: [Gasping] Oh -- oh -- oh, God! Doug-- Douglas, don't -- Oh, God. Douglas, I sense it. The killer, she knows that you're on to her. She'll be waiting for you.

Marlena: I've been consulting the Salem P.D. on the serial killer case, so I know how complex her mind is.

Julie: Oh, of course. That's what you meant by you and the killer are one and the same.

Marlena: Yes. Yes. I have to crawl inside her mind, so I know how incredibly intelligent she is. And she's very crafty. She just refuses to be caught.

Julie: Well, I don't think she's so intelligent. I think she's a maniac. Probably some frigid, self-consumed woman -- a bitch who's had a miserable life.

[ PDA chirps]

Julie: Oh. Oh, I'm sorry, Marlena. It's a message from my grandmother. Oh, it's -- it's Celeste. She's trying to reach me. Maybe it's about Doug. I'm afraid I have to get in touch with her.

Marlena: Yes, of course, of course.

[Pager beeps]

Marlena: Oh! Oh, I've got a page. You know, Julie, I'm afraid I've got to cut this short. I've got something that I simply have to attend to.

Julie: That's all right. I can't get through to grandma anyway. Well, thank you for your time. I'm sure it will all turn out all right. Marlena, if you see Doug, please keep him with you. I know that he'll be safe.

Marlena: All righty. Yes, yes. He'll be safe with me.

Julie: Thank you so much.

Mimi: Mmm! Yummy. Do we ever have to go back to civilization?

Rex: Hey, I'd like nothing more than to stay here in bed, but we've got to get back to our lives.

Mimi: Rex, how are you doing with that?

Rex: Thanks to you, I've been able to get my mind off Cassíe, Roman, and the other killings.

Mimi: Damn Tony anyway. He just had to stand there in centre ring of the circus and showboat, rambling on and on, building the drama.

Rex: No, no, that's not all he was doing, Mimi. Tony wasn't just showboating. He was stalling, trying to flush the killer out, daring her to make an attempt on his life right there in front of everybody. He just -- he didn't anticipate the killer's weapon of choice was going to be a tiger.

Mimi: It was so awful.

Rex: Yeah. But you know who I feel really bad for, is Kate. She was so in love with rom-- with my father.

Mimi: Kate's a survivor. In fact, you're very much like her.

Rex: Yeah? How so?

Mimi: Well, you take chances, throw caution to the wind.

Rex: Or, as some people might call me, an impulsive hothead.

Mimi: I call it adventurous, romantic, sexy.

Rex: Sexy, huh?

Mimi: Yeah, you're my sexy Rexy. Here.

[Cellular phone rings]

Mimi: That's odd. I didn't know I had left that thing on. Oh, it's my mom. What news flash could she possibly have to tell me at this time of night?

Jennifer: Uh, my cousin hope, she's gonna stop by. She just wants to meet you.

Patrick: Yeah, I think I kind of already met her when you backed into me.

Jennifer: Yeah, I know. My family is very protective of me since Jack died. And hope is a cop. You know, it's in her blood. And she just wants to protect me and Abby. It's okay, isn't it? I mean, she just wants to come over and make sure that you are --

Patrick: Absolutely. I wouldn't have it any other way. You've been great, letting me stay in the garage apartment. I just want you to be comfortable. Yeah, I'll clear these. Ahh!

Jennifer: Oh, wait. Just leave them. Don’t. I'll do it. Just leave them. Are you okay?

Patrick: Yeah. It's one of the muscles from the accident. Whew. Man, that hurt. I'll tell you what. If you don't mind, I'm gonna go on up to the apartment and take a hot shower.

Jennifer: Yeah, no, go on. Uh, my cousin hope will be here in just a few minutes.

Patrick: Okay, uh, send her up when she gets here. I'll answer any sort of questions she might have.

Bonnie: [Sighs] Mimi, I don't care if you're schtupping Brad Pitt. Pick up the phone!

[Max whining]

Bonnie: That's right, max. Patrick is coming home, and your mommy is in big trouble.

Bo: How's it going?

Man: Getting there. A little while longer.

Bo: Okay. I'm gonna go out and check with the squad cars. There's some coffee.

Man: Thanks.

Nicole: Okay. So it's either 34 or 43. I can work with that. Next.

Jan: I don't know any more.

Nicole: Oh... sure you do. Jan, look, I'm sorry I slapped you. I didn't mean to upset you. I was just letting off a little steam. I'd hate for our friendship to end like this, especially -- especially when you're so close to getting Shawn.

Jan: Shawn?

Nicole: Yeah. You know what? I saw him at Salem place the other day playing basketball. He was shirtless. Oh, his body is so awesome. His muscles are so defined. He is so hot. And I can tell he wanted you.

Jan: Really?

Nicole: Mm-hmm.

Jan: How?

Nicole: Well, men are like dogs. They can smell us coming a mile away. You know, he never looked that buff for Belle.

Jan: I hate Belle black.

Nicole: Yes, and if you don't remember the combination, Belle will end up with Shawn, and you and I will end up in Statesville.

Jan: That won't happen.

[Knock on door]

Julie: Celeste.

Celeste: Yes.

Julie: I got your message from grandmother. What is going on? Why couldn't you tell me over the telephone?

Celeste: Because it's not safe, darling.

Julie: It's Doug, isn't it?

Celeste: Yes. He's in grave danger.

Julie: And how did you know that?

Celeste: Well, he stopped by to see me for a reading. He wanted to confirm his suspicion regarding the identity of the killer.

Julie: No! He wasn't supposed to talk to anybody but hope! He wasn't supposed to talk to anyone else!

Celeste: Oh, Julie, please, don't be angry at Douglas. I mean, he's very conflicted. He can't believe that this woman is responsible for so many deaths. Oh, God!

Julie: Well, did you confirm your -- did you confirm the suspicions?

Celeste: We -- we contacted the spirit world. Douglas did get the confirmation that he was looking for, and he went to find hope, darling. Have you spoken with her?

Julie: I have left messages. She's in the field. She just hasn't been available. What is it?

Celeste: Oh, Julie... I wish I didn't have to tell you this, but the killer is on to Douglas. Darling, his life is in danger.

Marlena: [Muffled] Bless me, father. I have sinned.

Jansen: How long has it been since your last confession?

Marlena: A long time. I've come to confession because I'm having to fight my urge.

Jansen: Does this urge have to do with sex or alcohol?

Marlena: No. Nothing like that. It’s... more sinister. I'm finding that I... I want to hurt someone. I want them to suffer great pain.

Jansen: Listen to me. I'm a priest, but if you want to hurt someone, I have to stop you, get you help.

Doug: Oh, Addy, I wanted to visit your grave, talk to you. You've always been able to help me clear my head. I got to tell you right now, I am very frightened.

Hope: Oh, I know it's late, and I am so sorry that I want to check out your new boarder, but something does not smell right here.

Jennifer: You know what, hope? You're a cop. I told Patrick it's in your blood.

Hope: You know me too well. So... hmm? Where is he?

Jennifer: Oh, he was having some pain from the accident, so he went up to the garage apartment to take a shower.

Hope: Uh-huh. And was that after he found out I was going to be here?

Jennifer: Well, yeah, but you know what? He's fine. He's fine with it. In fact, he said when you got here for me to send you right up.

Hope: How are you doing?

Jennifer: Oh, good, good. I felt the baby kick tonight.

Hope: Oh, Jen... oh, sweetie, that is so wonderful.

Jennifer: And you know what? Patrick felt it, too.

Hope: Jen, honey, I know you have a really wonderful head on your shoulders, and I would so be lying if I told you I wasn't concerned about this stranger staying in your house.

Jennifer: Hope, listen to me. He has been fine, really.

Hope: Jen, I want you to think back to when you were editing the "spectator." Now, how many stories ended up on the metro page about con men and shysters --

Jennifer: First, wait, Patrick is not a con man. He's a very sweet man who knew Jack, hope.

Hope: So he says. Look, I'm working the crime scene over at the Kiriakis mansion, and I don't have too much time. Is it all right if I just go up to the garage apartment?

Jennifer: Yeah, absolutely.

Hope: Are you sure?

Jennifer: Yeah, go ahead.

Hope: Okay.

[Knock on door]

Hope: Patrick? It's Hope Brady.

Patrick: Yeah. Come on in.

Hope: Hi -- ooh. Uh, sorry. Uh, you should've said something. I didn't realize you --

Patrick: That I'm naked? I hope that's okay. I'm not ashamed of my body.

Hope: I gathered that.

Patrick: Look, I know why you're here -- to make sure I'm on the up-and-up. I respect that. I guess this is my way of letting you know I have nothing to hide. As you can see.

Hope: Put something on. I'll be waiting for you downstairs in Jennifer’s living room.

Rex: She makes me feel so good she makes me feel so fine

Mimi: Ha ha ha.

Rex: She makes me feel so happy

Mimi: I'm the luckiest woman alive.

[Cellular phone rings]

Rex: [Whistling]

Mimi: Hello?

Bonnie: Mimi.

Mimi: Do you know how late it is? What do you want?

Bonnie: Sorry to interrupt your push-push, darling, but I have --

Mimi: What do you want, Mom? God, unless you're in jail, I couldn't possibly care.

Bonnie: Patrick is back in town.

Mimi: All right. You know, I didn't think you were capable of giving good news, but, hey, that's good news!

Bonnie: No, it isn’t. Your mom is in deep doo-doo.

Mimi: Why? Oh, my God. I'm on my way.

Rex: [Whistling] Mimi, what's going on? Why are you getting dressed?

Mimi: I'm sorry, Rex, but you have to take me home right now. My mom is in big trouble.

Bonnie: Just when I thought things were looking up. How many times have you heard me say that? Fred Astaire even sang it in that old movie. "Things are looking up." Never for me. Nope, not for good old bonnie. Why do you figure that is, max, huh? Why does everyone else get to walk on the sunny side of the street and I always feel like I'm thrashing through the muck? Do I sound like I'm feeling sorry for myself? Well, I am. 'Cause it's for damn sure no one else will. They never have, and they won't now. The story of my life. Close...yeah. Oh, boy. There are a lot of other stories, too. But none you'd like to hear and none I'd like to recount right now. Because they're kind of on the ugly side. The fact is, I've done some dirty rotten things, max.

[Max barks]

Bonnie: Hey, hey. You're supposed to be on my side, mutt. Oh, man. I can't let my son Patrick know what happened. If he finds out, he is going to turn me into red meat pulp.

Jennifer: Hey. Did you talk to him?

Hope: He hasn't happened to show you that he has nothing to hide, has he?

Jennifer: What?

Hope: Nothing. He was just getting out of the shower. He'll be right down.

Jennifer: Oh. Okay. Well, I sure hope you don't find anything on him.

Hope: Me too.  Hey. He's probably clean as a whistle. No pun intended. But I'd still like to run a background check on him, just to be safe, okay?

Jan: Oh, Shawn. The things I'm going to do to you. Nicole. Nicole? That's funny. She was just here.

Man: Okay. There she be. The safe's disabled, ready to be open.

Bo: Thanks, man. I appreciate it. Put that broken drill bit on our bill.

Man: Nah. It goes with the territory.

Bo: All right, thank you.

Bo: Gotcha.

Julie: I can't believe this is happening. How could the killer have possibly found out that Doug is on to her? The only people who knew were grandma and you and Marlena, and none of you would talk to anyone.

Celeste: Darling, there's a dark force at work here. It's just a matter of time until Douglas comes face to face with this killer. God, I just pray he's prepared. Oh, God, no!

Doug: Well, Marlena, you're just the person I was looking for. I have some -- some very hard questions for you -- questions that I need answers to.

Marlena: What a coincidence. And I was looking for you, too.

“Next on Days Of Our Lives”

Hope: I just have a few questions I need to ask you about your son Patrick.

Bonnie: He's not in any trouble?

Patrick: If you're the least bit uncomfortable with me staying here, just say the word.

Bo: Come on, man, we've wasted enough time. Open that damn thing up!

Doug: It's you, isn't it, Marlena? You... are the serial killer.
