Rex: Now, we have to do whatever it takes to clear my name of being a serial killer. Do you understand that?

Cassie: Whatever it takes. I understand.

Shawn-D: What are you up to, Cassie? Why are you acting so nervous?

Mimi: Maybe because you're following her, Shawn. So why are you?

Cassie: Rex, you have got to help me.

Rex: I'm the one in lockup.

Cassie: I keep going over what you said, and I am so confused. I mean, I must have misunderstood you. You didn't say it in so many words, but... do you really want me to kill for you?

Rex: Give me your PDA.

Cassie: What?

Rex: Hurry.

Rex: Watch and learn.

[ Organ playing somber music ]

Jansen: Mickey, your mother would like to see you.

Mickey: Oh, thanks, Father Jan-- just -- just a second.

Jennifer: Uncle Mickey...

Mickey: What?

Jennifer: Gram, she has seen a lot of things in her lifetime, but all this tragedy at once? Why don't you let me go with you?

Mickey: No, no, no, darling. I-I'll be -- I'll be fine. I'll go right now, okay? Yeah.

Jennifer: He and aunt Maggie have been together almost their whole lives. What will he even do now?

Lexie: Well, the rest of your family will be there for him. They'll help.

Sami: Excuse me. Um... I just wanted to say how sorry I am.

Shawn: If this isn't the saddest day I have ever known.

Caroline: It's the children. That's the hardest part -- seeing them suffer.

Shawn: It's hard to lose someone you love at any age.

Victor: You weren't friends with the deceased. Why are you here?

Nicole: Three reasons. I'm showing support for my husband, and I'm showing the people of Salem that I'm not a killer.

Victor: And the third reason?

Nicole: It's a funeral. I'm here to mourn the dead.

Celeste: [ Gasps ]

[ Voices sobbing and moaning ]

Celeste: Whose coffin is this?

[ Gasps ]

[ Gasps ]

Roman: Celeste. Are you okay?

Celeste: Someone else is going to die today... someone you love very much, Roman.

Bo: Here it goes again -- the same damn message.

Hope: Oh, my god, it's going to happen again. An hour from now, another person will die.

Bo: No, no, no. Not if I can help it.

Hope: This murderer is enjoying it, Bo -- using technology to play games with people's lives. Is it going to tell us who?

Bo: Yeah, looks like it. No. No!

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Roman: Look... Celeste, I know this a sad day for you. It's a sad day for all of us who love Abe and Jack and Maggie. But we can't let our feelings spin out of control to the point where we're imagining things.

Celeste: [ Sighs ] I'm sorry, Roman, but I had another vision -- a premonition, if you will.

Roman: All right. What did this premonition tell you?

Celeste: I was in the chapel, and instead of three coffins, there were four.

Roman: Whose was the fourth one?

Celeste: I -- I can't summon an image now. But when I saw your face, Roman, I know it was someone that you care for very, very deeply. Someone that you will grieve for the rest of your life. [ Gasps ] Oh, god. Oh, Roman. I remember.

Roman: Who is it?

Celeste: Your mother. The plate on the coffin said "Caroline Brady."

Roman: Look, Celeste, come on, come on. That's not possible. We've got a funeral here today. We're going to have cops everywhere. Nobody's going to commit murder in that church.

Celeste: I only know what I saw in my vision. Your mother is going to die today, Roman. I'm so sorry.

Roman: All right. Celeste, I think maybe you ought to, uh, go in and join Lexie.

Celeste: Yes. We should take comfort in our families while we can.

Roman: Lucas.

Lucas: Yeah?

Roman: Where's your mom?

Lucas: Why?

Roman: Look, I don't have patience for you today, all right? So where is your mother? The murderer may be getting ready to kill again.

Lexie: Nobody wants you here, Sami. For all I know, you're the one who murdered Abe.

Jennifer: Sami, if you have any respect for Jack's memory, please leave right now.

Sami: Father Jansen says that the doors of this church are always open, no matter who we are or what we have done.

Jennifer: Are you admitting, Sami, that you had a part in this?

Sami: No! No, I didn't, but I have just as much right to be here and mourn as anybody else. I loved uncle Abe and --

Lexie: Sami! Get out of my sight.

Sami: The two of you make me sick. You didn't deserve the wonderful men you were married to. They're better off where they are now. In heaven, Abe and Jack won't be hurt by you anymore.

Caroline: You stop that talk, Sami Brady, or I swear, big as you are, I'll take you over my knee in this church.

Rex: All set. Do you have any questions, or do you know what to do?

Cassie: I have one question. Isn't there some other way?

Rex: No.

Mimi: You're not a cop, you know. Just because your parents are on the force doesn't mean you can go around like you have a badge, okay? Let it go. Let the cops handle it.

Shawn-D: If your grandmother is next on the victims list, would you let it go?

Mimi: What do you mean?

Shawn-D: I think my grandma Caroline could be the next victim.

Mimi: Oh, my god, Shawn.

Shawn-D: Yeah.

Mimi: So what should I do?

Shawn-D: Go to Rex. Talk to him. Maybe he'll say something incriminating. He trusts you.

Mimi: So I should betray that trust. That's what you're saying.

Shawn-D: I want you to use this.

Mimi: A pen?

Shawn-D: It's a recording device. It's easy. You just click the button like this. Get him to tell you, Mimi. If not for me, for my grandmother.

Mimi: [ Sighs ] If I don't betray Rex... someone innocent may die.

Hope: I'm trying to think of any other explanation.

Bo: No point. Mom's prints were obviously planted on that whiskey bottle as a sign.

Hope: That she's going to be the next victim.

Bo: Yeah. Unless we find this killer, ma has got less than an hour to live.

Caroline: Lexie, Jennifer, I apologize for my insensitive granddaughter. Excuse us.

Sami: Grandma, I --

Caroline: Be quiet, Sami. I'm not in the mood for your lame excuses. You're not the only one who can be blunt. The difference is that I don't go around purposely hurting other people as you do.

Sami: I went over there to offer my condolences.

Caroline: They don't want your condolences, Sami. Lexie and Jennifer are widows who know that you had it in for their husbands. Do you really think you can comfort them?

Sami: I guess not.

Caroline: Why is it so hard for you to put yourself in other people's shoes? It is not always about you all the time. Why aren't you grown up enough to realize that?

Sami: Why are you so mad at me, grandma?

Caroline: Because you don't seem to learn. What would you do if I wasn't around to clean up your messes?

Sami: Why would you say that, grandma? You're not going anywhere. I need you.

Caroline: Sami, you need to be there for others, Samantha jean!

Lexie: Mom.

Celeste: Oh, my darlings.

Jennifer: It's all right, Lexie. Celeste, Lexie is so lucky to have you. You know, I have a daughter who won't even let me try to comfort her right now.

Celeste: She will, darling, in time.

Jennifer: Will you excuse me?

Celeste: It would do my heart good to see Alice. Would you like to come to the nursery with me and Theodore?

Lexie: But the service is about to start. Uh-oh. You have that look on your face like you're seeing into the future. Mom, what -- do you see happiness, or -- or more pain?

Celeste: I wish you wouldn't ask me that, Alexandra.

Lexie: Mom, what's going on?

Celeste: I'm sorry, darling, but another life will be taken today.

Bo: Hey.

Roman: Hey. Hell of a day.

Bo: It could get worse real soon. I just got a message from the killer on this thing.

Roman: Look, somebody's just trying to spook us, that's all. I mean, we got a funeral here. We're in a church. I mean, we got cops all over the place. Nobody's going to try anything here. All right, what did the message say?

Hope: There was a picture of a coffin and a ticking clock.

Roman: Boy, that's original. Was a target named?

Bo: Yeah. Mom.

Roman: Damn it.

Caroline: Oh... oh, my god. Why me?

Jennifer: Thank you, Vern and Jo, for taking care of Abby. How are you doing?

Jo: I've been better. Abby, grandpa Vern and I are going to go talk to your great-grandpa Shawn, so I want you to wait here with your mother for a while.

Abby: I told you, I don't want to talk to her.

Jo: Abigail...

Jennifer: Abigail. Excuse me. I realize that you are upset with me, but this is a day that we need to be together. That is what your dad would want.

Abby: Don't use dad to get to me. My gosh, you are the one who let him die.

Jennifer: If there was anything that I could have done to keep your father here with us, don't you think I would have done it? Abigail, you listen to me right now. Do not run away from me. We need each other, and we need to work through this.

Abby: I don't want to work through anything with you.

Celeste: It was a vision, darling, of a fourth coffin, along with Abraham and Jack and Maggie.

Lexie: Oh, my god. Oh, god, I wish I didn't believe you.

Victor: I am warning you, Nicole. I will not have you making a mockery of my family's grief.

Nicole: Save it, Victor, or I just might have to kill your old flame, the woman you're planning to replace me with.

Victor: Not if I put you in an unmarked crypt first.

Caroline: Tell me, Bo. Is the killer coming after me now?

Bo: I got a message. There was an image of a coffin, and then a clock ticking down.

Caroline: How long? How long?

Hope: 60 minutes.

Caroline: My life is ticking away.

Roman: No, ma, it's not going to happen. Nobody's going to hurt you.

Hope: Caroline, we'll stay with you.

Caroline: But what have I done that this killer wants to end my life?

Bo: Ma, there's no sense to this, so -- unless...

Roman: Unless what?

Bo: Well, Shawn's got this theory that coming after mom would clear Rex of murder.

Caroline: I don't understand.

Bo: If someone else is killed while Rex is behind bars, then Rex would be cleared of Maggie’s death.

Roman: Let's call off this funeral, send everybody home.

Bo: Good idea.

Caroline: No, no, no. We're here to honor three courageous friends taken before their time. They have to be properly buried by a priest in front of god.

Bo: And in front of half the Salem P.D. I'm calling in extra officers.

Caroline: No, no need for that. If it's god's will...

Bo: Ma, wh-- don't argue with me.

Caroline: Oh, Bo, promise me one thing, would you? Don't tell your father about this, because he's upset enough as it is about Victor, you know? This could really -- this could kill him -- his heart.

Roman: No, ma. Ma, we promise we won't say anything, okay?

Caroline: Good. Good.

Hope: Caroline, come with me.

Bo: It's going to be okay, ma.

[ Creak ]

Shawn-D: All right, Cassie, are you as sick and twisted as your brother? Are you willing to kill for him?

[ Cell phone vibrates ]

Shawn-D: Yeah?

Belle: Shawn, I am so sorry. I just heard about your aunt Maggie. It's so awful.

Shawn-D: Yeah.

Belle: Look, I'm going to come home. I'm going to get on the next flight.

Shawn-D: No, I don't want you to!

Cassie: Hello? Is anybody there?

Hope: I want you to stay right there, and don't worry.

Caroline: I won’t.

Hope: Are you okay?

Caroline: Yes, dear.

Nicole: [ Whispers ] Ow!

Jansen: O love eternal, my soul needs and chooses you eternally. O, come, Holy Spirit, and inflame our hearts with your love. To love or to die --

Man: I'm sorry for the timing, father.

Jansen: Lurch, can't this wait?

Lurch: No, father. We received specific instructions that this arrangement is to be displayed during this service.

Jansen: All right.

All: [ Gasp ]

Roman: All right, all right, all right, everybody, calm down. We'll get this checked out.

Bo: What are you doing bringing that thing in here? Who ordered it?

Lurch: I have no idea. We received an anonymous envelope with cash and detailed instructions.

Bo: Well, I'm going to need to see that envelope and its contents.

Lurch: Very well.

Bo: Next time, do your homework. This is Caroline Brady sitting right here. Obviously she's very much alive, and she's going to stay that way. Get out of here!

Bo: Hey, hey, sorry about that.

Lexie: Should we cancel the funeral?

Mickey: No, wait a second. Wait a second. Rex Dimera's in jail right now on suspicion of killing Maggie, so whoever sent this wreath is just trying to scare us.

Jennifer: Yeah, well, it's working.

Nicole: Oh, save the dirty looks. I had nothing to do with this.

Victor: Liar.

Sami: Um, I'll be back.

Roman: All right, listen to me. I'm going to send you both home with a police escort, all right? There'll be a couple police officers with you at all times. There will also be a squad of cops surrounding the pub.

Caroline: Roman --

Roman: Ma, don't argue with me.

Caroline: I know you're upset. And I'm upset, too. I mean, I've never been as angry in my life as I am with this killer. But if this killer thinks that he or she is going to force me to hide and be a prisoner in my home, well, they don't know who they're dealing with!

Bo: Ma, this psycho's already taken three lives.

Shawn: Listen to your sons, Caroline, listen.

Caroline: I am. I mean -- to be a liar, I mean, if I -- I mean, if I said I wasn't scared, you know, but I came here today... to bury my friends. Nothing is going to stop me.

Bo: Okay.

Mimi: Hey.

Rex: Hi.

Rex: Took your time coming to see me.

Mimi: I'm sorry. The last couple days have been wild.

Rex: About to get a lot wilder.

Jansen: I'm so sorry this happened. Lurch is new to the area, but that's no excuse.

Mickey: Lexie and Jennifer and I have discussed this, and we're in agreement. We want to go ahead with the ceremony.

Jansen: As you wish.

Theo: [ Shrieking ]

Lexie: Come on. Come on, sweetie. Come on, sweetie.

Jansen: We have come together today to remember the lives of three people who will always be dear to our hearts -- Abraham Carver, Jack Deveraux, and Maggie Horton.

Jansen: We will never forget the many contributions these three people made to our community. And even as our lives move back to their normal routines, there will forever be a hole in our hearts.

Alice: Oh, no.

Celeste: What is it, darling?

Alice: The candle.

Celeste: Oh, god.

Alice: Yes. Hold my hand tight, Celeste.

Celeste: Why, Alice? Why are we being made to suffer like this?

Alice: And I'm afraid the worst is yet to come.

Celeste: You feel it, too.

Alice: Mm-hmm. Death is near.

Shawn-D: You can't come home.

Belle: Shawn, you need me.

Shawn-D: No, I'll be okay. I don't want you here. You're just going to get upset.

Belle: How could I not? Your aunt Maggie was a good person. So were Jack and Abe. I can't believe this.

Shawn-D: Me neither.

Belle: Look, your family probably needs help handling this. Your poor mom -- she was so close to Maggie.

Shawn-D: I know. It's -- it's horrible.

Belle: Are you sure you don't want me to come home?

Shawn-D: Do you miss me half as much as I miss you?

Belle: I miss you more. I miss the way you smile at me, and I miss the way your skin feels when you get out of the shower, and I can't wait for the day when I'll be taking that shower with you.

Belle: And you know how I've been going back and forth with that whole virginity thing -- should I, shouldn't I? -- But François was just so incredibly handsome that I had to go all the way with him.

Shawn-D: Excuse me. What did you just say?

Belle: Don't worry, Shawn. I'm still saving myself for you. I was just checking to see if you were listening to me. Where are you? What's going on? And why are you whispering?

Shawn-D: Do you really want to know?

Belle: Of course I do. We always tell each other everything.

Shawn-D: I'm following Cassie.

Belle: You had to ruin my day even more, didn't you? What's going on with my sister, and why is it such a secret?

Shawn-D: I think Rex asked her to kill someone for him.

Jansen: Hope?

Hope: Yes, father, I'm right here.

Jansen: Hope Brady would like to say a few words about her friend Jack Deveraux.

Hope: I could tell you that Jack Deveraux was a great man -- devoted father, wonderful husband, brilliant writer -- but you already know that. So instead, I'd like to introduce you to someone who will tell you something about Jack that you don't know. Is Seth Caldwell here? Oh, good. Seth, could you please join me? He has something to tell us all, but especially to Jennifer and Abby... and Jo and Vern. Please.

Seth: My name is Seth Caldwell, and you don't know me, but two years ago, I lost my eyesight. Jack Deveraux gave it back to me. No, I'm not going to tell you anything that you don't already know when I say that Jack was a very generous man. He had an organ donation card in his wallet when he was taken to the hospital, and that's when my doctors learned that I was going to receive a second chance to see. Thanks to Jack, my life won't be lived in darkness now. It will be a kaleidoscope of possibilities.

Jennifer: Thank you.

Roman: I just checked with Officer Ruiz. He says everything's quiet.

Bo: Yeah, too damn quiet.

Roman: Well, it is a funeral. Kind of to be expected.

Bo: This damn clock's still ticking down. What the hell's going to happen when time's up?

Mimi: Why do you say things like that? "Things are about to get wilder." Wilder how? You mean there's going to be another murder?

Rex: Unfortunately, it's the only way I can prove my innocence. Somebody else has to die while I'm behind bars. It's the only way I'll ever get out of here.

Mimi: My god.

Rex: You want to see me spend the rest of my life in an 8x12 cage? Huh? You love me, don't you?

Mimi: I do not want to be in love with a murderer. I can't believe I let you touch me!

Rex: Mimi --

Mimi: No, no, I won't listen to you. Shawn was right. You're a killer.

Rex: Don't -- don't call me a killer. Or you'll be sorry.

Cassie: Just a few more minutes, and then I'm going to get going.

Shawn-D: The only thing that would clear Rex and get him out of jail is if a murder was committed while he was behind bars.

Belle: You think Cassie would actually kill someone to free her brother?

Shawn-D: I'm not taking any chances, not when my grandma Caroline could be the next target.

Belle: Shawn, how could your grandmother be next?

Shawn-D: Her fingerprints were lifted from the whiskey bottle that was used to murder aunt Maggie. My parents think it's the killer sending a message about his next target.

Belle: Shawn, why her? There's no motive like there was with the others.

Shawn-D: I don't know. All I'm saying is I'm not letting Cassie out of my sights.

Belle: Where is your grandmother?

Shawn-D: With my mom and dad at St. Luke’s.

Belle: The church where she was married. God, Shawn, it seems like so long ago that we were there fantasizing about our wedding day, and I was wearing your grandmother's white dress. Three people have died since then. There has to be some way to stop this.

Shawn-D: A lot of people are trying. I love you.

Belle: I love you, too. Are you sure that you don't want me to be there with you?

Shawn-D: No, no, you are a lot safer in Europe. What the hell? Oh, you are not going to believe this.

Roman: And, uh, just one more thing about this incredible man I'm talking about. One of Abe's last acts as commander was to put in for retirement so he could spend more time watching his son Theo grow up. And Brandon walker learned about Abe's commitment to family when Abe embraced Brandon as his son. To Abe, his family was everything. Thank you.

Jansen: Thank you, Roman. Jennifer. Jennifer Horton Deveraux would like to share some remembrances of her aunt, Maggie Horton.

Jennifer: Thank you, father. Oh, aunt Maggie... she was incredible, and it would be really difficult to sum her life up in just a few words, but I can tell you that I know she loved life, and she loved helping people. But most of all, she loved Mickey Horton. And she still does. I really believe that, uncle Mickey. Aunt Maggie's loving spirit and zest for life will live on in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to have known her.

Jansen: Thank you, Jennifer.

Jennifer: Thank you.

Jansen: Now I shall read from the 23rd psalm. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff...

Jennifer: Why did it get dark all of a sudden?

Jo: I don't know.

Abby: Mom!

Hope: Caroline?

Abby: Mom!

All: [ Murmuring ]

Roman: All right, calm down.

[ Wind whistling ]

Bo: No, stay at your posts. Ma, you all right? Mom?

Celeste: No!

Belle: Shawn, are you there? Are you okay?

Shawn-D: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. It's just the sky went dark, like someone just flipped a big switch.

Belle: You mean like an eclipse?

Shawn-D: Yeah, I guess. It's like everything is just pitch black -- no sun, no stars. It's the perfect time for a murder. Hold on. All right, Belle, listen, I got to go. I love you. Always remember that.

Belle: Shawn, I love you, too.

Mimi: Let go of me!

Rex: Calm down.

Mimi: You're hurting me, Rex!

Rex: I'm sorry. Look, I didn't want anybody to hear you. Are you okay? I mean, I didn't really hurt you, did I?

Mimi: I'll be all right. I guess I, um, I guess I just overreacted, that's all. I mean, it's easy to do these days with everything that's going on. Um... Rex, you've always told me the truth. I mean, it means a lot to me to know that you trust me enough to tell me the truth, so, um... are you telling me everything you know about the killings?

Rex: What do you mean?

Mimi: Well, what you said before about someone else dying to prove your innocence -- did you mean that Cassie or Tony are going to prove it for you by killing someone else while you're in jail?

Rex: What's that?

All: [ Gasping ]

Hope: Oh, my god.

Jennifer: Where did this casket come from?

Lexie: Mom, is this what you saw in your vision?

Celeste: It's exactly the way the casket looked.

Roman: Father, what -- what is going on her where did this fourth casket come from?

Jansen: I'm sorry, Roman. I'm afraid I have no idea.

Roman: Well, tell me, is there a body in this?

Jansen: I don't know.

Caroline: I'm going to look inside that casket.

Shawn: You'll have to go through me first!

Bo: Calm down. Calm down, pop. We'll get to the bottom of this.

Jennifer: Uncle Mickey, there's a nameplate on it, just like the one on Jack's and aunt Maggie's and Abe’s.

Mickey: I don't –

Sami: Um, take Will and get him out of here, huh?

Lucas: No, no, we're not going anywhere. Wait a minute.

Mickey: I need a handkerchief.

Lucas: Here.

Mickey: You got one? Okay. Let me do it here.

Mickey: There's blood on it.

Celeste: It was that way in my vision, too. Oh...

Mickey: "Caroline Brady, beloved wife and mother."

Caroline: My name is on that casket. I'm going to look inside.

Bo: Mom --

Caroline: Bo, don't -- don't try to stop me. Don’t. Open it.

Mickey: Caroline, that's not a very good idea.

Roman: Are you sure about that, ma?

Caroline: Yes. Please take the children outside.

Lucas: Yeah, uh, I will. Uh, Abby, Will, why don't you come with me? Come on. It's all right. Don't worry about it.

Jennifer: Oh.

Caroline: Oh, g--

[ Gasping ]

(On the next Days of Our Lives)

Shawn: Ahh!

Hope: Shawn Douglas, you cannot go taking matters into your own hands.

Cassie: We're just stalking your family so you see what it feels like.

Shawn-D: You son of a bitch!

Mimi: Somebody, you have to let him out of here now! It's an emergency!

Rex: Mimi, save your breath. The killer's next victim is already dead.

Roman: Freeze!
