Marlena: Thanks for the ride.

John: I'm so glad to have you home, honey. I'm just sorry that we haven't had much time to just be together, you know?

Marlena: What you're doing is so important. I want you to catch Abe's killer as much as you do. I just don't want to lose you.

John: Come on, you're not going to lose me.

Marlena: Abe was killed in broad daylight. He was a cop. He was taking care of himself. You think Abe was killed because he was close to finding a criminal that didn't want to be caught. But you're doing the same thing. I mean, you're putting yourself in danger by calling the press and letting them know that y know the name of the killer. Don't deny that. You're in danger. And don't make me promises that you can't keep. The police say this killer will  most likely strike again. I don't want you to be the next victim.

Jack(on TV): I have a message for Commander Carver's killer.

Jennifer(on TV): Jack --

Jack(on TV): I happen to know every case file that Abe was working on before he died, and I happen to have some very damning evidence of my own, so if you killed Abe Carver and you're out there watching right now, just be forewarned, I've got the goods on you. And you're going to go down. That's a promise.

Caroline: Oh, dear. Oh. That can only mean one thing.

Alice: Trouble.

John: You know, doc, I can't take back what's already done.

Marlena: And you wouldn't if you could.

John: The thing is, if we are dealing with a serial killer here, I'm not the only one in danger. We all are. No, I am a trained I.S.A. agent. I know what I'm doing. And I love you. And I plan on sticking around to love you for a long, long time, lady.

Woman: Marlena? Sorry to interrupt. Message for you.

Marlena: It's all right. Thank you.

Woman: You're welcome.

Marlena: Thanks. Oh, uh, a former patient is trying to find me. I don't want to keep her waiting.

John: No, of course not. Business calls. I'll talk to you soon.

Marlena: Bye.

Jennifer(on TV): Well, I'm sure that the police will follow every lead that they have.

Jack(on TV): One other thing.

Jennifer(on TV): No, Jack, you don't have to.

Jack(on TV): That's okay. Listen, right into the camera here. Uh, I have a message for Commander Carver's killer.

Jennifer(on TV): Jack Ė

John: Keep your mouth shut, Jack.

Jack(on TV): I happen to know every case file that Abe was working on before he died, and I happen to have some very damning evidence of my own. So if you killed Abe Carver and you're out there watching right now, just be forewarned, I've got the goods on you. And you're going to go down. That's a promise.

John: Damn it, Jack. You're going to screw everything up and get yourself killed.

Roman: All right, Kate, you ready to tell me the truth? What really went down with you and Abe that day?

Sami: Dad, you heard the witness, okay? Abe was threatening her. He was going to expose her secret, and she put a bullet in him to shut him up.

Kate: You know, you're awfully anxious to point the finger. Maybe that's because you put the bullet in Abe yourself.

Sami: Why would I want to kill Abe?

Kate: Oh, you know why. Because Abe wouldn't help you get Brandon back.

Sami: Please, okay? I loved Abe like a second father, and besides, like I keep saying, I don't have a gun, and there is no way I could have gotten one.

Dave: Oh, my god. Commander Brady, that's her. That's the woman I spoke with the day Abe Carver got shot.

Lucas: No, no, no. No, not so fast.

Sami: Lucas, no, I --

Lucas: No, no. Seems this is not quite over yet, Sami.

Dave: Oh, yeah, that's her. Blondie. This is Miss Smith right here. This is the girl that was hanging around my lock box where I keep my gun.

Lucas: Well, now we all know where you got your gun. Now, who's the one going to be wearing handcuffs, huh?

Roman: Sami, is this guy telling the truth? Did you have something to do with the disappearance of his gun the morning Abe Carver was murdered?

Jennifer: Jack, how could you do that? How could you go on live television and say those things to a killer? What are you thinking?

Jack: I'm thinking I'm a journalist. I seek out the truth. I don't just sit back and do nothing.

Jennifer: Really? What about the promise you made me?

Jack: Would you rather I was a coward -- someone who just sat back and didn't do anything, didn't help bring Abe's killer to justice?

Jennifer: Yes, I would rather be married to a coward than a target, because that is what you are right now. You might as well paint a giant red bull's-eye on your chest that sends a very clear message to the killer, "come and get me next."

Jack: It was never my intention to jeopardize my life with you and Abigail.

Jennifer: Oh, really? Really? Well, it's too late. Because whoever killed Abe is coming after you next.

Lexie: Talk to me, Maggie. Tell me who you see with Abe.

Maggie: I canít. I canít. I can't see them. I cannot see them.

Lexie: Maggie, Maggie, I want you to try, okay? Try to remember. Who did you see with Abe?

Maggie: I told you, I didn't see them clearly. But -- but --

Lexie: But what?

Maggie: But I remember -- I remember the eyes. They were so cold. So evil. Oh, they're so evil, they're so evil, they're so evil.

Lexie: Okay, Maggie, Maggie, listen to me. You have to remember, okay? Tell me who killed my husband. Is it someone you know? Answer me!

Maggie: Yes! I know the killer!

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Jack: Don't you want to help me nail the bastard who did this to Abe?

Jennifer: Yes, of course I do, Jack. I would do anything to help the Salem P.D., but that does not mean throw caution to the wind and dare some maniac to take you on personally. What if the police are right? What if there's some serial killer running around this town?

Jack: Not to worry. I'll be on my guard.

Jennifer: Against whom?

Jack: Well, according to Bo and Roman, it's somebody that we all know. Now, the last person that Abe was investigating was victor Kiriakis. Then there's Tony Dimera --

Jennifer: Oh, right. The two most dangerous men in Salem.

Jack: It's all right. They don't scare me.

Jennifer: Well, they should. Because if they wanted you dead, they wouldn't have to blink twice, Jack.

Jack: Jennifer --

Jennifer: Damn it, you broke your promise.

Lexie: You know who killed my husband?

Maggie: No. No, no.

Lexie: Maggie, focus. Who is it? You have to tell me.

Maggie: I can't breathe. I can't breathe.

Lexie: Man or woman?

Maggie: Don't --

Lexie: Maggie, who shot Abe? Who shot Abe, Maggie?

Marlena: Lexie. What's going on in here?

Lexie: She's about to name Abe's killer.

Maggie: [ Moaning ]

Sami: Don't look at me like that. I haven't done anything wrong.

Dave: Well, Miss Smith seemed pretty nervous that day.

Roman: "Miss Smith," huh?

Dave: I only hope she didn't use my gun to shoot the Commander.

Sami: For pete's sake, I did not kill Abe!

Roman: All right, Mark. Do me a favor. Finish your statement, then you can go. Thanks for coming in. We'll be in touch soon.

Lucas: So, which is it, huh? Mrs. Gunsmith or Miss Smith & Wesson, Sami?

Kate: You better think fast, because you have some explaining to do, Sami.

Lucas: Oh, yeah, no wonder why you were so quick to point the finger at my mother and me. Look at you.

Sami: Drop dead, okay, Lucas?

Lucas: Did you hear that?

Roman: Hey, hey! Shut up! Shut up! All of you, in my office. Let's go. Come on, now!

Roman: All right, Sami, you tell me the truth. And I want to hear everything. Right now.

Jack: I did not break any promises.

Jennifer: You promised me that you would not pursue this investigation, that you would not put yourself at risk, Jack.

Jack: Okay, hear me out.

Jennifer: Not only did you break your promise, but you did it on live television in front of thousands of people, one of whom may have been the killer, Jack.

Jack: All right, okay, I'm sorry to put you through this, but the fact is, I am a reporter. That's what I do. It's not my job to keep my mouth shut. It's my job to open my mouth and speak the truth.

Jennifer: What about me? What about your daughter?

Jack: What about Lexie? What about Theo? What about what Celeste said?

Jennifer: Yes, and I feel for them. I do. I do, Jack, but what does that have to do with --

Jack: Abe Carver had a life. He had a wife. He had a son. He had a career. All of that is gone. In an instant -- gone. Who's going to speak for him now -- me, you? I find this unacceptable.

Jennifer: So do I. So do I. But you know what? We just got remarried, Jack. We're talking about having a baby -- a little brother or sister for Abby. How do we create a life for ourselves if you don't have a life?

John: Your wife has an excellent point.

Sami: There's nothing to tell, dad.

Roman: Sami, you're working on my last good nerve, kid.

Sami: I was at the mall, and I saw some punk break into the security guard's lock box, and I scared the creep off. That security guard should've thanked me. Jeez, I mean, no good deed goes unpunished.

Kate: Oh, god help us.

Sami: Dad, if it hadn't been for me, something could've happened.

Roman: Something did happen, Sami. A bullet was fired from that guard's gun the morning Abe was killed.

Sami: Oh, my god. Was it the one --

Roman: Unfortunately, the bullet was flattened to the point where it couldn't be traced.

Mark: Here's the guard's complete statement, sir.

Roman: Thank you. "Miss Smith said she didn't want me to report this incident to the police. Miss Smith was afraid I would lose my job."

Lucas: There it is. Lie number one, right?

Sami: I was afraid that he was going to lose his job. I had just lost my job at the hospital, and I know how awful it can be. And... I thought the guy would freak out if he found out that I was the police captain's daughter, and that is why I introduced myself as Miss Smith.

Lucas: Oh, nice, lie number two. Not bad.

Roman: Really. Or were you afraid you might be linked to the use of that gun?

Sami: I didn't know that the gun had been used.

Lucas: Lie number three. This is getting good.

Sami: And I didn't think that either one of us would want my name in the papers anymore.

Lucas: Well, you know, just when you thought she didn't come up with another excuse, there she is -- another one just rolls right off her tongue.

Sami: Shut up, Lucas!

Roman: Sami, I'm sorry, but this isn't going to fly. You did take that gun, didn't you?

Sami: Absolutely not.

Lucas: Ha ha. Bing bing bing bing bing bing.

Sami: What the hell are you doing?

Lucas: Well, everybody knows you're lying... including your own father.

Lexie: Maggie, come on, Maggie, you can do it. Just tell us who shot Abe.

Marlena: Lexie, stop this.

Lexie: She knows who did it. She saw them.

Marlena: Maggie, Maggie, it's all right. It's all right.

Maggie: Horrible...

Marlena: Honey, you're safe. I want you to calm down.

Maggie: It's so horrible.

Marlena: Maggie, it's Marlena. I'm right here. I'm going to take care of you. I want you to relax. Now, take a deep breath for me. Come on, I'll do it with you. Come on. 1, 2, 3, let's go. That's a good girl. Good girl, that's okay. Come on. One more deep breath. That's a girl. What are you thinking?

Lexie: I'm trying to find out who killed my husband.

Sami: You can draw all the stupid pictures of me that you want. You can stand there and smirk at me until the cows come home, but you are not going to pin this on me, Lucas.

Lucas: Did you hear what she said? Did you hear what she said? She told me to drop dead a few minutes ago. She said worse to Abe. I heard her.

Sami: No, no, I didn't mean that, all right? I was upset at Abe because he wasn't going to let me see Brandon anymore.

Lexie: Yeah, upset enough to steal that gun, huh?

Sami: Go to hell, Lucas!

Lucas: Huh? Don't tell me to go to hell. You're from hell! You are hell!

Kate: Lucas, just leave her alone. Leave Sami alone. Maybe she had good reason for what she did.

Lucas: What are you talking about -- good reasons? What are you -- how can you defend her like that? Don't you ever start with me.

Kate: Sorry.

Roman: For what?

Kate: I'm sorry that maybe your daughter is going to be implicated in Abe's murder.

Roman: You know what, Kate? All three of you together are driving me nuts. The woman I love, my daughter, the father of my grandchild -- and you're all suspects in my best friend's murder. And how do I know you took the gun? Because it's your M.O. you did it before. You took my service revolver last New Year's Eve when Colin Murphy was killed.

Sami: But that was --

Roman: Kate knows it. She was with me. The whole damn world knows it.

Sami: But, dad, that was completely different.

Roman: How?

Sami: I was just going to use the gun to scare Colin.

Roman: And would you have killed him if someone hadn't beaten you to it?

Sami: Dad, how can you even ask me that? I could never shoot someone in cold blood, especially not Abe!

Roman: Unless you felt you had to. My guess is, Sami, you stole that guard's gun because you were feeling desperate.

Sami: How can you even say that?

Roman: Damn it, tell me the truth!

Sami: Okay. I took the gun. Are you happy?

John: Caught your show.

Jack: Our tribute to Abe.

John: Yes. You just had to challenge the killer. Not very smart.

Jennifer: See, Jack, I'm not the only one who thinks so.

John: Can I have a word alone with your husband?

Jennifer: Yes. You can have all the words you'd like, because I am so angry right now, I can't even speak. I'm going to go check on Abby.

John: You made a mistake today.

Jack: Don't start, please.

John: One that can cost you your life.

Lexie: Maggie came to the hospital looking for you. She was so upset. I was only trying to help.

Marlena: You were pressuring her.

Lexie: Well, she couldn't understand why Abe pointed at her on his deathbed, why he said her name. She thinks she may have information that could lead to Abe's murderer. But she can't remember.

Marlena: Lexie, with all that's going on, with all that you've been through, you shouldn't be treating anybody. You're a doctor. You know that.

Lexie: I have to know, damn it. I have to know who shot my husband.

Marlena: Lexie, honey, honey, honey, I know how tough this is for you. But you've got to think about Maggie. Whatever clues she has are hidden deep in her subconscious. And you're a surgeon. You're not a psychiatrist. You can't just cut through to them.

Lexie: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt her.

Marlena: I know. I know you didnít. I know that, honey.

Lexie: I just can't live like this, Marlena, not knowing who killed my husband. I canít.

Maggie: [ Sobbing ]

Marlena: Maggie. Maggie. Maggie, it's Marlena. It's Marlena. Honey, take my hand. Take my hand.

Lexie: What's wrong with her?

Marlena: Maggie. We're losing her. Maggie. Maggie, listen to me. Maggie, take a deep breath. A deep breath. Maggie. Right now. Right now. I'm right here. Come on. Maggie, do it for me. It's Marlena. Do it for me, honey.

Caroline: It was pretty risky of Jack to say all those -- oh, here's Jennifer. Oh, hi, dear. Hi. We saw your show.

Jennifer: Oh, great. Then you'll understand why I'm a little frazzled.

Caroline: Would you like a cup of tea?

Jennifer: Yes, that would be great, thank you. Hello, Gram.

Alice: Oh.

Jennifer: Boy, I could use a really big hug right now.

Alice: Oh... I'm so glad you asked. Anytime.

Jennifer: Okay. So, obviously, you heard what Jack said on the air today, right?

Alice: I did.

Jennifer: Right. So how could he do that? How could he put himself and us in that kind of danger?

Alice: You can't blame Jack for that, dear.

John: So, are you totally out of your mind or just doing a little grandstanding?

Jack: I think you know exactly what's on my mind -- you did the same damn thing yourself.

John: No, no, I lobbed the press a bone to try and draw the killer out so I could handle him myself, not write a nice little story on how our "altercation" is going to shake out in the end. Kind of hard to do when you're dead, Jack.

Jack: The story was never a nice one or little. Besides, it's got nothing to do with the story now, does it? It's all about Abe. It's about what I can do to make a difference.

John: Listen, if I knew that scum was coming after only me, then I could concentrate on protecting only me. Now our focus is shifted in all these different directions, which brings me to this point. I better not read about Maggie Horton's name in your paper.

Jack: Maggie? Wait a minute. Maggie is Jennifer's aunt. The last thing I'd want is responsibility for putting Maggie's life in danger.

John: Yeah. Well, to tell you the truth, it might be too late for that. Whatever memory Maggie has repressed, I think the killer is already well aware of what she knows.

Jack: No. Damn. I was -- I was afraid of that.

John: Jack -- listen, you are smart enough to know what the score is. Just remember, this killer may be smarter than you.

Jack: Ditto. How does your wife feel about you doing this?

Patty: There you go.

John: Thank you.

Jack: Having a target on your back.

John: She's angry, just like Jennifer.

Jack: All right then. Here we are. A couple of ducks sitting in a row -- you, me, and Maggie. I'll tell you what. Maybe I did go too far earlier. But I couldn't help myself. I was sitting there listening to Celeste going on and on and thinking all of a sudden about Theo growing up without his dad and Lexie all by herself --

John: So I guess I don't have to tell you that you're putting Abby and Jennifer in the exact same situation, do I? You better be careful, Jack, or they're going to live without a husband and a father... forever.

Marlena: Maggie. Maggie, take a deep breath. Maggie.

Lexie: Marlena, I did everything right. What's wrong with her?

Marlena: It's not the procedure. It's the trauma of whatever she's seeing.

Lexie: Well, how do we snap her out of it?

Marlena: We've got to break the cycle.

Lexie: What the hell was that? The pain reflex is the strongest human reaction. It overrode whatever trauma she was going through. It's like a shock treatment. Maggie. Maggie, it's Marlena. Can you hear me?

Maggie: Marlena?

Marlena: Yes, it's me. Maggie, I'm going to bring you out of the hypnosis right now. When I count to three, you'll open your eyes and you'll be completely refreshed and relaxed. 1... 2... 3.

Maggie: What happened?

Lexie: You said you saw Abe's killer. For god's sake, Maggie, please tell us. Who?

Sami: I did it, okay, dad? I took the gun from the guard's lock box, but that does not mean that I killed Abe. You believe that, don't you?

Roman: How in the hell am I going to believe anything you say now, Sami?

Sami: Well, dad, the least you could do is look at me.

Roman: I'm tired, all right? I'm tired. I don't want to hear any more lies.

Lucas: It was a crime of passion. Sami shot Abe because he was standing between her and the man she loved.

Sami: No, I didnít.

Lucas: Yeah.

Sami: But if you think that I have a good motive for killing Abe, then you can believe your mother's is a hell of a lot better than mine. What was happening between me and Abe was on its way to being ancient history. What was happening between Abe and Kate was her whole future.

Kate: What?

Sami: Abe's gardener said that you and Abe were arguing over some deep, dark secret that you didn't want my dad to find out about. Don't you want to know what it is, dad? Don't you want to find out what Abe had on your bride-to-be? I mean, what could Kate have done that is so bad that she or Lucas could've killed over it?

Jennifer: All I'm saying is that Jack should've known better. But to tell the killer that he has evidence? Not only is he endangering himself, he is endangering our family.

Caroline: True.

Jennifer: So, what am i supposed to do?

Alice: Trust in the love that you already share.

Jennifer: Oh, Gram.

Alice: For better or for worse -- those were the original terms.

Jennifer: I bet grandpa never would've done anything like this.

Alice: Well, that's where you're wrong.

Jack: If there's a serial killer on the loose, they could be going after anybody. They could be going after Jennifer and Abigail.

John: Not likely. Look, Jack, I understand you want to protect your family. That's really clear. But there's something else going on here. What is it, and why is this case so important to you?

Jack: Well, I don't know. I mean, last month and a half, I was working closely with Abe. No, he allowed me to tag along while he tried to solve the Colin Murphy murder and the attacks on Bo and hope, and I got to know him. I got to know the guy on a whole 'nother level.

John: Anything you care to share?

Jack: Well, before he was murdered, he said he was close to making an arrest.

John: Maybe too close.

Jack: You know the suspects.

John: Victor, Nicole, Tony, Rex, Lucas, Kate, and Samantha.

Jack: Okay, you see, my money's always been on the big fish, right? The Kiriakises, the Dimeras...

John: All right, come on. One or the other.

Jack: Either, either. I don't know. Both -- and then I don't want to give up on Tony, either. I've got my suspicions about him and his strange son.

John: Rex is also Marlena's son.

Jack: Bioengineered by Stefano Dimera.

John: Don't remind me.

Jack: All right. I have given you my hunch, you give me yours.

John: Victor. Tony. Both ruthless, and if they have any reason to believe that someone's on to them, there's no telling what they'll do.

Maggie: I don't remember anything.

Lexie: What?

Marlena: I'm not surprised. You know, hypnotherapy is not an exact science. It requires security and comfort. A mind's got to feel safe before it gives up its secrets.

Maggie: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Lexie. I can't recall anything.

Lexie: Oh, sweetie, it's okay.

Marlena: Maggie, if you want, I'll work with you on this. It won't happen overnight. I mean, it takes time to coax out these sort of images.

Maggie: And the voices?

Marlena: What voices?

Maggie: The children are singing. They're chanting a rhyme. Oh, it's like -- like the one Alice heard when Abe died.

Marlena: Excuse me?

Lexie: Um, Marlena was out of town. She doesn't know. Uh... before Abe was killed, a lot of strange things happened.

Marlena: Like what?

Maggie: Um...Alice -- Alice hearing children chanting like a sing-songy thing outside of her window.

Lexie: And my mom had some really troubling dreams as well.

Marlena: Oh, John said Celeste had had some...premonitions.

Maggie: Well, Mickey and Alice claim to have seen tom -- well, his ghost.

Marlena: All right. Let's take one thing at a time, okay? Why don't you tell me about what the voices were saying? Maggie... it's me. You can tell me.

Maggie: Alice heard them chanting that gruesome rhyme about Lizzie Borden.

Marlena: And you?

Maggie: "Salem stalker took a gun, gave Abe Carver a deadly one. When they saw what they had done, they gave Maggie Horton another one."

Lucas: My mother may have argued with Abe, but she didn't barge into his house and make vicious threats against him like you did!

Sami: All right, fine, I said some things I regret, but they were not threats. They were just heartbroken stuff. I was upset because he wouldn't let me patch things up with Brandon.

Lucas: What? Heartbroken? You said he deserved to die!

Sami: What about you, Kate? What were you doing at Abe's house the morning of his baby's christening? Didn't the poor man have enough on his mind already?

Lucas: Abe invited her!

Sami: Well, I think that he was threatening her, and she shot him to shut him up.

Kate: Are you really going to let her talk to me that way?

Roman: Kate, are you gonna tell me the truth? What were you and Abe really talking about that day? Man those wings were awesome.

John: All seven suspects had a motive. We can't eliminate anyone at this point, so watch your back.

Jack: You too.

John: What can I say to convince you to back off this case? Damn it, Jack, come on, as a friend. Just pull Abby out of school, take your family on a nice vacation till this thing blows over.

Jack: I'm not gonna live my life in fear. I'm not gonna back off doing something that I consider essential just because there might be a little danger involved.

John: Yeah, well, I can't say that I like it.

Jack: There's danger in everyday life -- every single day. I think that we owe it to Abe to live our lives to the fullest and not be afraid to bring this killer to justice.

John: Jennifer. What about Jennifer? How are you going to convince her?

Jack: Jennifer's a big girl. She's gonna look at my heart, and she's going to know that I'm doing this for the right reason.

John: I admire your stand, Jack. Sorry I doubted you.

Jack: Salem's our home. Everything that happens here affects everybody else. By trying to protect the community, I'm just protecting my family, that's all.

John: Nothing I can say to change your mind, huh?

Jack: Oh...nope. Don't worry. Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. You just keep in touch. I'll be in touch.

John: I hope to hell you know what you're doing, Jack.

Kate: We've already been through this, Roman.

Roman: Not entirely, Kate.

Kate: Abe and I argued. He didn't think that I was the right woman for you given my history, given that the two of you were best friends. And frankly, I don't think he ever would have thought anyone was good enough for you. And it hurt me, but I didn't kill him.

Roman: I'm not accusing you.

Kate: Then why do you keep making me repeat myself?

Roman: Because I don't believe you're telling me everything. Look, we're going in circles here, and I for one am sick of it. So I'll tell you what. Why don't all three of you cut the crap? The truth's going to come out sooner or later, and when it does, it's only going to make matters worse.

Jennifer: Grandma, grandpa Tom loved his family.

Alice: Yes. But he was never one who would sit on the sidelines.

Caroline: Did you know that your grandfather was a medic during the war?

Alice: And he insisted on being on the front line.

Caroline: While your Gram was here in Salem raising a family.

Alice: What choice did I have?

Caroline: Tom didn't have to go. He could have avoided active duty.

Alice: Heart murmur.

Jennifer: Are you serious? And he decided to sign up anyway?

Alice: Your grandfather had a deep sense of honor.

Caroline: Correct me if I'm wrong, Alice, but I think Tom felt there were larger issues at stake -- you know, that he was protecting his family by helping others, and I -- from what I can see, Jack is very much like your grandfather.

Alice: Jack's style is quite different, but... deep down, they're both good men. Ah... they need to stand up for what they believe.

Jennifer: Well, then where does that leave me?

Caroline: Sweetheart, you're the only one who can answer that. I think it's important for you to understand where Jack is coming from.

[ Door opens ]

Jennifer: Oh.

Marlena: Maggie, I'm sorry. It sounds like some children are playing a very mean hoax on you.

Maggie: But there were no children around. I looked. I'm not delusional, Marlena, and I don't think Alice is becoming senile.

Marlena: I don't doubt either one of you. I just think there has to be some logical explanation.

Maggie: Then you believe me.

Marlena: I do believe you. You're my friend. And if you tell me that you're hearing voices, I know it's true. I'm a doctor. I just have to ask certain questions, you know.

Maggie: So then you think the voices that I'm hearing are inside my head?

Marlena: Maggie, I think the key to what you experienced when Abe was killed is buried deep inside your mind. And I think these voices may be somehow connected to that.

Lexie: Marlena, I am so sorry that I went ahead without consulting you. Maggie, how are you feeling?

Maggie: Scared.

Lexie: Oh...sweetie.

Marlena: I want to help you both. But if we're going to be able to unlock these memories, we have to do it slowly.

Maggie: But it's so evil. It's pure evil. I saw the face of Abe's killer. I know who it is.

Roman: Well, all right. It's getting late, and it looks like none of you are going to tell me the truth anytime soon.

Sami: Can we go?

Roman: After you've given your statements.

Kate: Statements?

Lucas: About what?

Roman: About the morning Abe was murdered. I want to know everything you did. I want details.

Lucas: And then we can leave?

Roman: Yep. But as of now, you are all three official suspects in the Abe Carver murder investigation.

Kate: What?!

Roman: You've given me no choice. I'm sorry.

Sami: Dad, you can't do this.

Roman: And this kills me to say, but all three of you, don't leave town.

Jennifer: Thank you. Thank you. I've, uh, I've made an important decision.

Jack: Are you still mad about this morning?

Jennifer: We need to talk.

Lexie: Maggie, who is it?

Maggie: I can't say the name.

Lexie: What do you mean?

Maggie: It's there. I mean, I know, I know. But I can't -- I can't see the face now. It's -- and I can't say the name.

Marlena: It's blocked. It's blocked, that's all. It's just blocked.

Maggie: I just feel so cold to the bone. It's just so evil. It's so cold.

Marlena: Oh, Maggie, this must be so hard for you to have all this inside you. But I promise you we'll find a way to access it.

Maggie: I feel infected.

[ Sobbing ]

Marlena: Once this all is out in the light of day, that anxiety will just lift.

Maggie: Oh, please.

Marlena: For you, too, Lexie.

Lexie: I hope so.

Maggie: Well, I g-- I, uh, I got to go. I have to get to the restaurant.

Lexie: Well, Maggie, can't someone sub for you?

Maggie: Oh, I think it's best that I go there and get back to some kind of normal life.

Lexie: Yeah.

Marlena: Maggie, if you hear those voices again, don't be frightened. Just will them away. And if that doesn't work, you call me. Anytime, day or night, call me.

Maggie: Thanks.

Lexie: Come on, I'll walk you out. Here's your purse.

Maggie: Thank you.

Lexie: Let me get that for you.

Maggie: Okay.

[ Cellular phone rings ]

John: John Black.

Marlena: John, I need you.

Maggie: Oh, that's weird.

[ Children giggling ]

Maggie: No. No. I don't hear anything. They're just -- they're just voices.

[ Giggling continues ]

(On the next Days of Our Lives)

Lucas: Now, what's Marlena going to think when Roman tells her that he has to arrest their only daughter?

Roman: There's been a breakthrough in the Abe Carver murder case. Sami lied to us.

Sami: It is clear to me that no one here is gonna give me the benefit of the doubt.

Marlena: I don't even know my own daughter anymore.

Shawn-D: Let's just hope he doesn't get another one of his headaches. He just might kill us all.

Rex: This one's a real killer.
