[ Telephone rings ]

Sami: I'm coming! I'm coning! I'm coming! God!

[ Ring ]

Sami: What?! I mean, this is Samantha. Oh, Joelle, of course I know what time it is. Well, I have been here since 6:00. It's just not my fault that the phone has been ringing off the hook. I know you need those memos, and I will get them to you as soon as I'm finished with them. Bitch.

[ Muttering ]

Sami: Aah! God. Ew. Cockroaches. God, they are going to pay for this -- and everything else.

Roman: H-h-hey!

Caroline: Surprise!

Roman: Surprise!

Sami: I guess you two are the ones who are surprised.

*********************************************************************************************

Kate: I think we need to take a close look at expenditures as they relate to the bottom line, especially with the economy the way it is. And with a few factors that are beyond our control, I do not think this is the right time to be adding staff.

John: You mean Sami? Ah, come on, Kate, what's done is done. I suggest we make this the best possible experience for everyone involved.

Kate: I sure envy Marlena going out of town when all this is happening.

John: It was part of the plan. I mean, now Sami can't go crawling to her mother when things get rough around here. Besides, doc needs a break.

Kate: She's been having a rough time lately, hasn't she?

John: Not just with Sami. The twins and their problems, and then there's the never-ending pressure of having Tony Dimera in our lives -- not just as my half-brother, but as a father to Cassie and Rex -- Marlena's children.

*********************************************************************************************

Rex: I'm moving out of the mansion today. Doesn't mean I won't stay close to Tony. No one can find out that Roman and Kate are my biological parents. Shawn's been snooping around, but I can handle him. Yeah. I know the perfect way.

[ Door opens ]

Tony: What's all this?

Rex: Oh, I'm moving out.

Tony: What did you say?

Rex: I'm going to live with a friend -- Shawn Brady.

*********************************************************************************************

[ Knock on door ]

Shawn-d: Wow. This place looks great. It looks better and better each time I come by.

Belle: Yeah, well, I watch a lot of HGTV.

Shawn-d: Apparently you watch the Food Network as well. Are those --

Belle: Blueberry muffins.

Shawn-d: Oh, those are my favorite!

Belle: No, no, you need to sit down first. Let's go.

Shawn-d: Okay, fine. Oh.

Belle: Smells good. Smell them.

Shawn-d: It does smell good. Wow. Oh, my gosh, you went all out.

Belle: Yeah, well, don't get too comfortable. I figured I'd take care of breakfast Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and you could do Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Shawn-d: Uh, yeah, as long as you like cold cereal and burnt toast, that's not a problem. Oh, I'm going for this first. Mmm. Mmm, this -- excellent. Did you make these from scratch?

Belle: I'm glad you like them.

Shawn-d: I like everything about you.

*********************************************************************************************

Jennifer: You know, Jack, I think I'm going to go visit my gram after breakfast.

Jack: That sounds good to me.

Jennifer: You know, I mean, she's always been so levelheaded, and now she's having these visions of my grandfather. It just scares me, that's all.

Jack: I think it's very natural at her age. Tom Horton was the love of her life. They were together for years. She misses him. It's amazing how intense marriages used to be.

Jennifer: So what about these days? What about our marriage? Isn't it intense enough for you, Jack?

*********************************************************************************************

Tom's voice: Abe.

Lexie: I just put Theo down for his nap. Poor little guy was exhausted. It seems like you are, too.

Abe: [ Sighs ]

Lexie: Didn't sleep well last night, huh?

Abe: Hope I didn't keep you awake.

Lexie: No, I just heard you get up a couple of times.

Abe: You know, I couldn't stop thinking about what happened at Aliceís.

Lexie: Oh, it was so unsettling, wasn't it, Abe? All that talk about the spirit that visits from the dead.

Abe: I usually don't believe in that sort of thing, but between your mother and Alice...

Lexie: It's hard to ignore, isn't it? Even if you don't believe in it. I mean, when Alice said whoever's name is called out by the spirit is doomed, honey, I got chills. Anyway, let's try not to let that get to us, huh? I mean, the spirit didn't call out our names, right?

*********************************************************************************************

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

*********************************************************************************************

Tony: I know why you're doing this.

Rex: You do?

Tony: Mm. You're not getting enough privacy. That whole incident that happened yesterday with the garbage cans -- obviously you're trying to hide something.

Rex: It doesn't matter, all right? The only thing that does matter is that Jack and Commander Carver didn't uncover any information about us.

Tony: Are you saying that that was a possibility?

Rex: You see, this is part of the reason why I'm moving out. I feel like I'm living under a microscope here. I need my freedom. Besides, if I was trying to hide something, do you really think I'd be moving in with Shawn Brady?

Tony: And what is all that about? I was under the impression you two weren't even getting along. What possessed either of you to make this arrangement?

Rex: Nothing possessed Shawn. He doesn't even know about it yet.

Tony: I don't understand.

Rex: Haven't you always told me to keep my friends close but my enemies closer?

Tony: Yes.

Rex: Well, I've got a very busy day ahead of me, dad. I'll see you later.

*********************************************************************************************

John: So, how is the fall clothing line coming?

Kate: Ooh, progressing. Belle's doing a super job. She always does.

John: Mm-hmm. Hey, let her sister help her.

Kate: What?

John: Let Belle show her the ropes.

Kate: I don't think that's going to sit too well with Sami, having her younger sister ordering her around.

John: Well, she'll just have to learn to deal with it, won't she?

Kate: You're the boss.

John: Yeah, Samantha should eat a little humble pie. Could be good for her.

*********************************************************************************************

Sami: So, dad, grandma, what do you think?

Roman: Um...ha ha.

Sami: It's okay, dad. It's a pit. I know. Makes the janitors' closet look like the Taj Mahal.

Roman: Let me ask you something. Are, uh, are you the only one down here?

Sami: Yep, just me and the cockroaches.

Caroline: Ooh!

Sami: Sorry.

Roman: Yeah, well, I, uh, you know, I'm sure they got a vacant office or cubicle, something they're going to put you in. I think they probably just want you to get started down here, that's all.

Sami: Yeah, it doesn't get any lower than this. It's like a bad scene out of that movie "Office Space."

Roman: Well, keep a positive attitude, all right?

Sami: I'm positive -- positive that I am going to work my way up no matter who I have to step on to get there. And one day, I am going to be running this place.

Roman: Well, Sami, I appreciate your confidence, but keep it in perspective, all right?

Sami: I am, dad.

Caroline: Well, we're truly --

[ Blows, coughs ] -- Hopeful that you'll do a great job, and you'll do it extremely well.

Sami: Thanks, grandma. Hey, um, you know what? I want to apologize for the conversation we had yesterday. I know that I was harsh, and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought up the whole adultery thing, and --

Roman: What are you talking about?

Sami: No, dad, it's just between me and grandma.

Caroline: It's all right, Sami. Grandmothers can be very forgiving. Bosses, on the other hand not so much, which is why I hope you will think before you speak, okay?

Sami: You don't have to worry about me, okay, grandma?

Caroline: Well, this could be a great opportunity for you, a chance really to grow...

Both: So don't blow it.

Sami: I know.

Roman: Sami's gonna be a great employee. She just needs one of these.

Sami: Dad, what is that?

Roman: Open it up and see.

Sami: Oh, my god, you got me a present.

Roman: Ha ha. I did.

Sami: What did you get me? Uhh, I can't open it.

Roman: Do it like this. Right here. There you go.

Sami: It's beautiful, dad. Oh, my gosh, I love it. This must have cost you a couple hundred bucks.

Caroline: Oh, Sami.

Sami: Well, he is my dad. I get to worry. I mean, I get to ask at least, right?

Roman: No, you don't get to ask. You just get to enjoy it, that's all.

Sami: I've seen something like this. Kate has one like this, doesn't she?

Roman: Yeah, she does, as a matter of fact. Is that a problem?

Sami: No. No, of course not, dad. I love it. We can be twins.

Roman: Sami, be nice. I want you to treat this job differently. No games, no lies, no trying to settle scores. You do that, you're going to get booted out of here. Then what?

Sami: Yeah, and then what?

Roman: All right. Tell you what. Mom, let's get out of here. We'll let you get back to work. What do you say?

Sami: Thanks, dad. Thanks, grandma. Thank you both for stopping by. I love you.

Roman: All right. Love you.

Sami: Thanks.

Caroline: Good luck, darling. And you stop by for dinner, huh?

Sami: Okay, of course. I would love to. Say hi to grandpa for me. Bye.

Roman: Hey. Bye, hon..

*********************************************************************************************

Sami: Bye. Booted out of here -- I can't let that happen. No. This whole revenge thing -- maybe my dad is right. Maybe I will only be hurting myself.

*********************************************************************************************

Lexie: Honey, I know that Alice insists that she's fine, but I'm beginning to think otherwise. I guess it's the doctor in me. But the woman in me finds it incredibly romantic that she still feels such a strong connection to Tom after all these years. That's how I feel about you, you know.

Abe: I'm not gone yet.

Lexie: No, honey, no, I didn't mean that. I just meant that I can't imagine my life without you. I'll always have a strong connection with you, Abe. Nothing can ever change that.

Abe: I love you so much.

Lexie: I know that.

Abe: You know, sometimes I feel like I just don't say it enough, but... I never want to let you go.

Lexie: Oh, sweetie, don't worry. You are never going to lose me.

Abe: Never. Never.

*********************************************************************************************

Jack: Jennifer, of course our love is just as intense as Tom and Alice's. Believe me. I love you more than I could say. Why do you keep looking at me that way?

Jennifer: Jack, I want to believe you, but I also want to believe that if you love me as much as you say you do, you will give up this dangerous investigation, and you will focus on your family and focus on us.

Jack: Do you really think it's fair to ask me to stop doing something I love to do?

Jennifer: Yes, yes, in this situation, I do think it's fair. Look who's here.

Jack: Huh? Wh--

Jennifer: Uncle Mickey, hi.

Mickey: Oh, hey, hi. How are you two?

Jack: Mickey.

Mickey: Good to see you.

[ Cellular phone rings ]

Mickey: Oh. Nice breakfast here.

Jack: Oh, yeah. Yeah, a little bit, yeah.

Jennifer: Excuse me, I have to get this. It's Abby. Hello?

Mickey: Hey, listen, Jack, I know you asked me to update you on your will, so --

Jack: Oh, uh, shh. Over here. She's over there.

Mickey: Well, listen, I agree. It's a good idea for any family man, but I can't help but wondering if everything is okay, you know.

Jack: Oh, yeah, sure.

Mickey: Well, then why are you so concerned about your will?

Jack: Uh...

Jennifer: Uh, yeah. That shouldn't be a problem, sweetie.

*********************************************************************************************

Shawn-d: Great. No hangers. Oh, Belle's got some.

[ Elevator bell dings ]

Rex: [ Whistling ]

Rex: [ Chuckles ] Sports. What a waste of time.

Shawn-d: That's weird.

*********************************************************************************************

Kate: Notice the thin vertical lines. It's very slimming.

[ Knock on door ]

John: Yeah, those are wonderful.

Belle: Hi. I'm sorry to interrupt.

John: No, no, no, no. Sweetheart, please, come in.

Kate: I was just showing John your new designs for the fall.

John: Isabella, these are fantastic.

Belle: Thank you. I still need to make a few changes to the active wear, and then I'm gone start on my denim line, but I already made a few sketches.

Kate: You did?

John: You believe this kid? I'm telling you, in a year or two, you're going to have your show in Paris and Milan. This is amazing.

Belle: Dad.

Kate: I think we struck gold.

John: Yeah. Hey. What are you doing over there? Get in here.

Roman: Uh, Joelle wasn't at her desk, so... we didn't mean to interrupt or anything.

Kate: Oh, don't be ridiculous. Come on in. Hi, Caroline.

Caroline: Good morning, Kate. Hi, John.

John: Caroline.

Kate: So, what's up?

Roman: Well, we just decided to pop in and see Sami on her first day of work.

Kate: How nice.

Roman: Yeah. We saw her little office downstairs. It's, uh, not exactly the penthouse suite or the most stimulating place to work, is it?

Kate: Well... it's temporary, Roman.

Roman: Oh, well, I hope so. I mean, no offense to Belle, but I'm sure that Belle probably didn't have to start in a workplace like that.

Kate: Roman.

Belle: Actually, I didn't even have an office when I started here. I did most of my work at home, and then after a while I got to use half of the receptionist's desk. When my underwear line got accepted, that's when I got an office.

Roman: Well, I apologize. I'm wrong. It seems very fair to me then. Uh, you know, it's just very hard for a dad to see his daughter unhappy.

*********************************************************************************************

Sami: Aah! Ew! Gross.

[ Stomps ] Ahh!

Tony: My, my. Is this a way to treat a lady of your caliber? What on earth have they done to you?

*********************************************************************************************

Jennifer: Oh, yeah, sweetie, that's fine. Uh-huh.

*********************************************************************************************

Jack: There's nothing going on. I'm just working a little investigation, that's all.

Mickey: So, what, you feel like you're in danger?

Jack: No, Mickey, all I want you to do is draw up the necessary legal papers so that my family will be financially supported should anything ever happen to me, which it wonít. Can you do that for me?

Mickey: Well, of course I can, but --

Jack: Good. Thank you so much, counselor. No more questions, please. All right? It's gonna be great. Okay. Okay.

*********************************************************************************************

Jennifer: Hey, what did I miss?

Jack: Uh, well, actually, I was just telling Mickey here that with that new Soldiers Field, the Bears are bound to have their biggest year yet, right, Mickey?

Mickey: Soldiers Field. Yeah, right. Yeah, right. Okay.

Jack: Good.

Mickey: Okay, bye-bye, darling.

Jennifer: Goodbye. Tell aunt Maggie I said hello.

Mickey: I shall. I shall. I shall.

Jack: Yeah. Ha ha ha. Right.

*********************************************************************************************

[ Clears throat ]

Jennifer: You hate football.

Jack: So, what did Abigail have to say?

Jennifer: Apparently Bridgetís dad pitched a tent in the backyard, and they want her to stay overnight.

Jack: Oh, good. Good. That gives us tonight alone together.

Jennifer: You know what? Maybe it's not such a good idea. Do you think she'll be disappointed if I tell her she can't?

Jack: Why? We've met Bridgetís parents. They're basically good people.

Jennifer: Yes, Jack, I know they are, but --

Jack: But what? I mean, wh-what are you worried about now?

*********************************************************************************************

Abe: [ Sighs ]

Lexie: Honey -- honey, what's wrong? You're not having second thoughts about quitting the force, are you?

Abe: Oh, no, no, of course -- I'm -- I'm looking forward to spending time with you and Theo. That's what's important to me.

Lexie: Then you'll turn in your paperwork soon?

Abe: Hey... all filled out, ready to go.

Lexie: Oh... Abe, I know what a sacrifice this is for you. I know how much you love being a cop.

Abe: Not half as much as I love being a husband and a father.

Lexie: I feel so blessed right now. I want us to grow old together, Abe. I want us to be like those couples you see in the park holding hands, still so much in love.

Abe: We'll get there. I promise.

Lexie: Mm. I love you so much for doing this.

Lexie: I'm going to go check on Theo, okay?

Abe: Yeah.

Lexie: Okay.

*********************************************************************************************

[ Cellular phone rings ]

Mickey: Yeah, Mickey Horton.

Abe: Hey, Mickey, it's Abe. I need you to do something for me.

Mickey: Sure, Abe. What is it?

Abe: I need to update my will.

*********************************************************************************************

Tony: This is totally unacceptable. How do they expect you to work under these conditions?

Sami: Tony, thank you so much for the flowers. I want you to know that I have been trying. I've been trying to have a good attitude, 'cause I know that if I have good behavior, then maybe I can move up in this company. But how am I supposed to behave when they treat me like this? I mean, look at this place. You should see Belle's office. She has these huge windows with the most beautiful view, and...equipment that works. Stupid computer. God, I feel like the wicked stepsister.

Tony: Samantha. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. You are not the wicked stepsister. Right story, different character. You are Cinderella, waiting for your prince -- or maybe even your Count -- to swoop in and change your life.

Sami: Tony, that is so sweet of you to say, but there's nothing that you can do. I mean, John and Kate are determined to make me suffer.

Tony: I'm gonna talk to John about this. I'll approach him as an investor.

Sami: I didn't know that you owned a stake in Basic Black.

Tony: I donít. But I will very soon. Yeah. I'll make sure things change around here. I will demand that they give you the respect you deserve -- like the star you really are. Ah, Sami, there are people out there who want to hurt you. I will not let them.

Sami: Tony, you are such a good friend to me. I knew I could count on you.

Tony: Ahh... I will look out for you. I don't want you to worry. I will look out for you.

*********************************************************************************************

Kate: Roman, we're not out to get Sami. Once she proves herself, she'll move up in the company.

Roman: Good, good, because I know she really wants to make it work here.

Caroline: Oh, look at the time. I've got to get back to the pub. I'll never hear the end of it from Shawn if I'm late for the lunch rush.

Roman: Ha ha ha ha. All right, mom, thanks for coming.

Caroline: Okay.

Kate: Bye-bye, Caroline.

Roman: Bye-bye.

Belle: You know, I'm really excited Sami's going to be working here. I'm hoping to get her opinion on some of my designs.

John: Hey, show him your sketches.

Belle: He's not interested.

John: Go ahead.

Roman: Belle, I am interested. Please show me what you're working on.

Belle: Okay.

Roman: Wow. Kate, I would love to see you in this one.

Sami: If you're so gaga over your precious little Belle, why did you hire me in the first place? Am I a charity case here?

Roman: Sami --

Sami: Is that why I have been sentenced to that dungeon down there?

*********************************************************************************************

Shawn-d: Who the hell's stuff is this?

*********************************************************************************************

Sami: Belle, what are you doing? I don't think -- well, what are you trying to do, humiliate me more? Look at this place.

Belle: Sami --

Sami: God, it is so beautiful, and you have all this stuff on the walls. I have a calendar from 1996, Belle. God, this is so not fair.

Belle: It is fair. If I worked my way up, so can you. I know, it's tough, but it's only your first full day. You're going to be great, I promise.

Sami: Great at what, answering the phones, taking lunch orders? Belle, there is no future for me in this company. Everybody is busy fawning over you. I mean, how can I compete with that?

Belle: Why does it have to be a competition? Why can't we work together? I think we'd be a great team.

Sami: God, you are so sweet. I understand what you are trying to do, but --

Belle: I mean it, Sami. We both have our strengths and our weaknesses. Why don't we just pool our talents? Look, we get along great. Let's not get off to the wrong foot at work. I believe in you. I think you're going to succeed. And whether or not you want to believe it, so do my dad and Kate.

Sami: Belle --

Roman: Belle is absolutely right.

Sami: Wow, they've brainwashed you, too, now, huh, dad?

Roman: Sami, I got to be honest with you. I had my concerns. Now, I thought maybe John and Kate were messing around with you just because of what happened in the past, but since we've had our talk, I'm convinced that just isn't true.

Belle: Look, I-I got to get going, but when I come back, I'm going to introduce you to that hot guy that works in H.R.

Sami: Thanks. See you later.

*********************************************************************************************

Roman: Bye, Belle. Well, daughter, how about some pizza down at that joint, Don and Surley's?

Sami: Dad, thank you, but I think I should stick around here.

Roman: Daughter --

Sami: Ha ha.

Roman: Are you sure?

Sami: Dad, I am absolutely positive. Thank you, though. I appreciate the offer.

Roman: All right, all right, all right. You come on, take care, all right?

Sami: I love you, dad. I love you.

Roman: Work hard.

Sami: Okay, I'll try.

Roman: All right.

*********************************************************************************************

Sami: No, I'll just grab my lunch at the vending machine and dine with the cockroaches.

Tony: Samantha.

Sami: Tony. Belle, um, and my dad just left.

Tony: Well, this is like night and day.

Sami: It is my first day, right? And maybe this is all my fault. I have caused most of my own problems, and I think maybe it's time for me to start trusting my family.

Tony: That's a nice sentiment, dear, but, uh... I think you're too vulnerable to be objective.

Sami: What do you mean?

Tony: Well, I just wouldn't like to see your family hurt you again.

Sami: And you think they will.

Tony: Oh, Samantha, the writing's on the wall. Can't you see the signs? They don't want you to succeed. They'd rather see you fall on your face. Nothing will please them more.

Sami: Tony, you are my only friend. You are the only one who has faith in me.

Tony: You're absolutely right. I am your only friend.

 *********************************************************************************************

[ Doorbell rings ]

Lexie: I'm coming.

Mickey: Ta-da.

Lexie: Mickey, hi. What a nice surprise.

Mickey: Hey, hey. I hope I'm not interrupting anything.

Lexie: No, no. How's your mom?

Mickey: Oh, she's fine. She and Maggie are busy right now as we speak. They were making some cookies to take over to St. Luke's for the benefit.

Lexie: Oh, that's great. I'll give her a call later.

Mickey: Good, good.

Lexie: So what brings you by?

Mickey: Oh, uh, there's a few things I need to discuss with your darling husband.

Abe: Hey, Mick.

Mickey: Oh, my gosh, there he is.

Abe: Thanks for stopping by.

Lexie: I hear you've been extremely busy, working around the clock, huh?

Mickey: Well, I've been -- ha ha -- putting in more  hours than usual, but I shouldn't complain.

Lexie: Well, you could always do what Abe's doing -- take early retirement.

Mickey: You're retiring?

Lexie: He didn't tell you?

Abe: Well, I'm refocusing my life right now. What's important is family.

Lexie: And his family is very happy that he feels that way. How about some drinks? Lemonade?

Mickey: Uh, yeah. That'd be great. Thank you. Thank you.

Lexie: Okay.

Mickey: You're actually quitting the police force?

Abe: Well, you know, it's like Lexie says -- it seems to be the right decision. I mean, you know that old saying -- I mean, nobody on their deathbed ever said, "Gee, I wish I'd spent more time at the office."

Mickey: But you're still a young man, Abe. I mean... wait a second. Does this have anything to do with what happened over at mom's house last night?

*********************************************************************************************

Jack: Come on, Jennifer. Talk to me. Tell me, really, what is really worrying you?

Jennifer: I don't know. I don't know. It just -- it just feels like the world is not even a safe place anymore. And maybe it's all these orange alerts and terrorist threats and -- and kids bringing guns to school. Life just used to be really simple, and I don't know if it'll ever be that way again.

Jack: Come on.

Jennifer: I'm sorry. I don't mean to depress you right now.

Jack: Oh, no, no. You could never do that to me. Just looking at that face lifts my spirits every day.

Jennifer: Jack, what would I do if anything ever happened to you?

Jack: What do you mean? Someone as bright and beautiful as you, you'd be remarried in a month.

Jennifer: How -- how can you say that?

*********************************************************************************************

Kate: I mean, as long as Sami does her work and stays out of trouble, I am perfectly fine with the situation. I'm not a complete monster, you know.

Roman: Well, you know what? If you were, you would be absolutely the most beautiful monster I've ever seen.

Kate: Yeah? Well, I suppose people are going to expect me to say things like "I can't stand the girl, and as long as she's working here, I'm going to make her life a living hell." But she's your daughter, and I'm going to do my very best to get along with her, because I know that's what you want.

Roman: Katie girl, I love you.

Kate: Oh. Besides, if I treat her badly, you know she'll do something to get back at me.

Roman: Yeah, unfortunately, that has been the pattern.

Kate: Who knows what she'd do in retaliation?

*********************************************************************************************

[ Elevator bell dings ]

Sami: I am not going to let Kate Roberts win. She is not turning my father against me.

*********************************************************************************************

John: An offer, huh?

Tony: Yes, I'd like to invest in your company Basic Black -- sizable.

John: I didn't know you had an interest in the fashion industry.

Tony: Oh, yes, I'm interested in making profits, and your company seems the place to do that.

John: Mm-hmm. Well, the fact is, we're not interested in taking on any outside investors at the moment.

Tony: Outside investors. I thought we were family.

John: Doesn't mean I want you as a business partner, does it?

Tony: Well, what happened to our feud? I thought it was over.

John: Want the truth, Tony? I don't trust you. My gut tells me you've got some sort of an agenda going on.

Tony: You know what? You're absolutely right, I do, and it concerns Samantha. I'm worried about her, the way she's being treated. I'd like to try and help her.

John: Well, no one needs your help, Tony.

Tony: What, are you going to continue working the poor girl like a slave?

John: She's only been here for one day. Sami will pay her dues just like everybody else.

Tony: Oh, come on. She's overqualified as it is.

John: Overqualified? Oh, right, yeah. I guess you're right. I mean, she does have a PhD in lying and manipulation. Hell, I don't know why she's even working here at Basic Black. She should be out there running the world.

Tony: Oh, John, that's so unkind.

John: No, Tony, it was very kind of me to offer her any sort of job here at Basic Black after the stunt she pulled at the hospital, so now she will work her butt off in that dark little office until she proves that her heart is in the right place about this job, and until then, there is no way in hell I will offer her any position of power, because she would only abuse it.

 *********************************************************************************************

Shawn-d: What is this junk?

Rex: Oh, that's mine, and it isn't junk.

Shawn-d: What -- what the -- what are you -- this isn't -- why are you putting your stuff down here?

Rex: I'm moving in.

Shawn-d: No, this -- this is my place.

Rex: Our place.

Shawn-d: You can't be serious.

Rex: Serious.

Shawn-d: No -- no, this -- I-I have been punked, right? Or this is some sort of sick joke?

Rex: Check it out -- silver keys for the door, gold keys for the mailbox.

Shawn-d: No.

Rex: The manager's making us a key for the storage unit sometime tomorrow.

Shawn-d: No, you -- there is someone already living here -- Ryan. I spoke with him yesterday.

Rex: Yeah, I spoke to Ryan, too. Decided to sublet it from him.

Shawn-d: No, no, never. There is no way in hell that I am living with you.

*********************************************************************************************

Jack: Jennifer, that was a joke. You weren't supposed to take it seriously.

Jennifer: A joke? How is that even remotely funny, that I would so quickly move on to someone else if something ever happened to you? That's sick. That is a sick and awful thing to say, and I can't even believe you said it, and I don't know why you did. I-I can't even believe that you would be so insensitive right now, Jack --

Jack: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It was the wrong thing to say, obviously -- very unfunny. I guess I was just trying to reassure myself that you'd be okay without me, not that you ever have to be without me, mind you, but I-I -- Jennifer, look, I-I understand that this really concerns you, but, look, you know me better than anybody. I mean, you know I'm a world-class coward. When it comes to something going wrong, boom, I always go the other way, always, right?

Jennifer: No. That's not always true. In fact, you're famous for taking some really foolish risks.

Jack: Well, no more. From here on out, I'm going to be cautious, courteous, careful, and safe.

Jennifer: Promise me that.

Jack: You have my word. Ha ha .. oh.

Roman: You know, I just wish Sami would quit thinking of you two as the enemy.

John: Mm-hmm. And Tony Dimera as her new best friend.

Roman: What the hell does he want?

John: A stake in Basic Black. I just saw him. He was ready to cough up some serious money.

Kate: Well, I hope you turned him down.

John: Of course I did. The man's in my face enough the way it is already. The last thing I need is Tony Dimera as my business partner.

*********************************************************************************************

Tony: Sami. I'm sorry you had to see all that.

Sami: Yeah, well, I am glad, because now I know that I was right all along. The only way to deal with John and Kate is to bring them down, and that is exactly what I'm going to do.

Shawn-d: Take your stuff, put mine back where you found it, and leave.

Rex: Sorry, Shawn. You're stuck with me. Hey, you don't mind if I, uh, keep my books out here, do you?

Shawn-d: As a matter of fact, yeah, hey, I do. You got a problem with it? There's no way in hell that I'm going to be roommates with someone who tried to kill my parents.

Rex: You know, I'm getting real sick and tired of that accusation being thrown at me.

Shawn-d: Oh, am I hurting your feelings? Then leave.

Rex: No!

Shawn-d: Yes! Now!

Belle: No!

Abe: You know, what happened last night -- it affected me. I can't deny that, but I'm just always concerned about my family's safety. Who isn't?

Mickey: Abe, I just don't understand why you're in such a big hurry to update your will.

Abe: I just want to make sure everything's in order, you know? It's my responsibility to Lexie and the baby. You know, you don't have to be dying to want to update your will.

Mickey: Abe... Abe, maybe I should really stay out of this, but you're an old friend, and I see a lot of worry in your eyes. There's something else that you're not telling me, isn't there?

Abe: Yeah. Yeah, there is.

Mickey: Maybe I can -- maybe I can help.

Abe: I don't want Lexie to hear.

Mickey: Of course not.

Abe: I'm not usually a superstitious man, Mickey. Celeste and Lexie, they get frustrated with my skepticism. Then, last night at Aliceís...

Abe: I had a vision of your father... tom. He called out my name. It was -- it was like he was -- it was like he was telling me, he was warning me... I have so much to live for. But... it started me thinking that... maybe I should let go. Maybe I should... start preparing myself and my family for the end... for my death.

(On the next Days of Our Lives)

Jennifer: A man was killed.

Jack: This is my investigation.

Jennifer: I am not going to stand for it. You are going to stop this right now.

Rex: Nothing would hurt you more, would it, Shawn, than losing your precious girlfriend?

Shawn-d: Your boyfriend is up to no good, and you just better watch out.

Mimi: Don't tell me what to do!

Tony: What are you doing?

Celeste: I do not sense your father in these ashes.
