Days of Our Lives Transcript Wednesday 8/6/03--Canada; 8/7/03--USA
Lexie: Hey, you handsome man, you.
Abe: You must be talking to me.
Lexie: Yes, I am.
Lexie: Hey. Was it just this morning that I saw you last?
Abe: It seems much longer to me.
Lexie: Yes, it does. You know all the sleep deprivation I went through in medical school? Well, I'm starting to realize that that was perfect training for being a mother.
Abe: So, how's tony?
Lexie: About the same.
Abe: Yeah. You know what? You look exhausted. Let's get you to bed, huh?
Lexie: Okay. But, um, not to sleep. We're both home, and we're both awake. How often does that happen?
Abe: You know, about 3 A.M., When theo crawls into bed with us.
Lexie: Exactly. So...why don't we go inside and say hello to our little baby, and then... and then...
Abe: Ha ha ha.
[ Knock on door ]
Marlena: Come in.
Marlena: Hi, rex. Come on in here. You. Ha ha ha ha! Oh, I can't breathe. Have you seen tony? How is he?
Rex: He's, uh, dad's about the same.
Marlena: I'm sorry.
Rex: Well, I actually came to the hospital tonight to see you.
Marlena: Oh. Well, good. Sit yourself down. Uh, I can -- I can get you some water. I can order iced tea, coffee, whatever you like.
Rex: No. Marlena -- mom, what I need is your help.
John: Good, you got my message.
Philip: Yeah. What's up? Did you talk to shane?
John: And associate director carmichael.
Philip: And do I have a future with the I.S.A.?
John: I'm afraid I don't have good news for you, son.
[ Knock on door ]
Erin: Excuse me, mr. Roberts. You have a phone call.
Lucas: Well, I didn't hear it.
Erin: Count dimera's private line doesn't ring in here.
Lucas: Right. Thanks, erin.
Lucas: Lucas roberts.
Lucas: Well, I take it that you've received the deposit from count dimera's account?
Cree: The good faith payment? Yes, just a moment ago.
Lucas: Well, good. I'll, uh, I'll be in touch.
Cree: Wait a minute. I'm afraid -- we've encountered an unforeseen problem.
Lucas: A problem?
Cree: I've just narrowly escaped an explosion at the cave.
Lucas: The cave? The cave we just bought from you?
Cree: Y.. I'm sorry, mr. Roberts. But there's no other source of the substance mr. Dimera was so anxious to obtain. It's lost now forever. Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.
Nicole: I didn't like this cd, either.
Brady: Nicole, I'm -- I'm so sorry.
Nicole: That's okay. Must've been a lousy demo, huh? Still on the hunt for the next big star?
Brady: Well, I thought I was. I don't even know how this got mixed in here. I guess when I was moving or something...
Nicole: Bad memories.
Brady: No. Good memories. I made that cd for chloe when she was in the hospital.
Nicole: That's a good memory?
Brady: I just didn't need to see it...today.
Nicole: What's today?
John: There was nothing I could do.
Philip: I'm out of the I.S.A.?
John: Pending new orders, you will finish your tour of duty on the air base as a marine.
Philip: Well, so that's it? All my training down the drain?
John: I'm sure the corps will put it to good use. I'm sorry, philip.
Philip: So this was my last appeal, right? I mean, there's nothing else I can do to prove myself?
John: Well, let's just say that it's rare for the I.S.A. To reverse this kind of decision. Your best course of action is to close this chapter and move on.
Marlena: Help you how?
Rex: I don't know exactly. Look, I know I'm not supposed to see you as a patient because of our, you know, relationship, but you're a doctor, and I didn't really know what else to do.
Marlena: What makes you think you need a doctor, honey?
Rex: I'm afraid there's something really wrong with me.
Marlena: Why do you think that?
Rex: Well, I've been having severe headaches and mood swings...
Marlena: Well, I'm glad you came to see me. Now, those symptoms can be very debilitating, I know, but I should tell you, they're not terribly uncommon. And they can be brought on by migraines, by...
Rex: Hypoglycemia, fairly innocuous pathogenesis. I've done the research. I know. Okay. This isn't that.
Marlena: How do you know?
Rex: When I say mood swings, I'm scaring the people around me -- most of all, myself. Maybe it's psychological. Don't know. I just -- I hope there's something you can do for me. Please.
Lucas: Am I supposed to believe you didn't cause that explosion, just to prevent me from getting my hands on what I paid for, huh?
Cree: This was sacred ground. I would never -- you can come here and see with your own eyes. It's gone.
Lucas: So it's a coincidence. As soon as you get your hands on the dimera money, you lose something that's been around since the dinosaurs.
Cree: Tony dimera knows exactly where I live.
Lucas: Yeah, and you know where he lives? At university hospital. He's in a coma right now, but he's going to get better.
Cree: Well, in the meantime, if you'd like to fil a complaint on his behalf with the better business bureau --
Lucas: You know no one can know about tony's involvement with this. You've already lost his trust and his support, not to mention his precious goop! Now, I'm going to tell you what -- if you decide to breach the confidentiality terms of our agreement and you go through with your brilliant idea of mining natural resources on federally protected land, I'm going to expose you. Then what are you going to do? Where are your people going to go then, huh?
Cree: That and the dimera dynasty will be finished.
John: You all right?
Philip: Well, I'm tough, right? I'm not going to stand around here and sulk about it. But I do still have free time. D the I.S.A. Has no say over what I do now.
John: Philip, you cannot carry on an investigation like this on your own. You need several things. You need resources, and you need support. And I can't be there for you anymore. So don't do anything stupid. Don't try to take rex on on your own. I mean, that is what you were planning on doing, isn't it?
Philip: Its like I explained before, john. No other agent has the access that I do. I mean, my father's company, my friend's cassie... it's not like we have all the time in the world to solve this thing. Now, something catastrophic could happen while you and I are sitting around for the I.S.A. To decide that I just might be competent, after all.
John: I could admonish you a hundred times, but still, I would feel personally responsible if you went off half-cocked and something happened to you. Am I getting through? Do not do anything stupid. You stay away from the dimeras.
Marlena: Rex, I'll do anything that I can to help you. Why do you think you have psychological problems?
Rex: You know what cassie and I have been through in the past year. I mean, I don't want to go and on about it because I know it makes you feel bad.
Marlena: I'm your mother. I want you to tell me everything that's going on with you. But it's also the reason that I-I can't be your therapist, honey. You can't be afraid to hurt my feelings. You need somebody impartial, somebody who is not a member of your family.
Rex: The test results confirm it. Marlena isn't my mother. It's so much more complicated than --
Marlena: Than what?
Rex: Than I want it to be.
Marlena: Have you been able to share your feelings with cassie?
Rex: You know, she's the only person in the world who has any idea, but we're just so different. We're so much more different than I ever thought.
Marlena: Does it bother you?
Rex: Yes. She's always been my innocent sister, and I want to take care of her, but I just don't understand the way she's acting.
>>Ararlena: Rex, you know, people react in different ways to different situations. Cassie seems to act out, and you seem to hold things in. The problem with suppressing your emotions is they -- they have to have some release somewhere, and often, that release becomes physical.
Rex: Like the headaches and the outbursts.
Marlena: You can't expect yourself to be perfect. You can't put yourself under that kind of pressure.
Rex: I don't expect to be perfect, just not a monster.
Marlena: Oh...rex. Honey, honey, honey, you are not a monster. You're not, you're not, you're not. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
Rex: Don't, don'T. I don't want to make you hurt, too.
Marlena: Too? What do you mean? Who else do you think you've hurt?
Rex: Well, I know I've hurt mimi. I love her so much, but I can't be with her when I'mhihis way. You know, I never understood the term "broken heart." But literally, it hurts right here, and that's the worst thing of all -- the worst.
Lucas: So, are you going to tell me how the hell this explosion supposedly happened?
Cree: Mr. Roberts, I told you about the man and woman.
Lucas: Oh, so you're saying they caused it?
Cree: In fact, yeah.
Lucas: Didn't I instruct you to detain them?
Cree: I did.
Cree: They got away.
Lucas: Oh, they got away? So it's your fault.
Cree: This man and woman -- they're agents of some sort. Very well connected to the authorities and to each other.
Lucas: You better not be telling me they had help from the authorities to escape.
Cree: Perhaps the higher authority. These people were morally opposed to my sale of the land to tony or maya.
Lucas: So they decided to blow up your sacred ground? Now it doesn't do anybody any good.
Cree: They obviously felt very strongly that the substance was intended for a bad purpose.
Lucas: Yeah, well, it's got no purpose now, right? So you give me my money back.
Cree: Oh, you're not getting it back. All the trouble you caused us? At least this man and woman were trying to find a way to help me to save our families and our land.
Lucas: You know what, man? We could've worked together. But now the dimeras will insist on accountability from everybody involved. That especially means you.
Sami: [ Sneezes ]
Cree: What did you say? Ical peel,
Nicole: Do you really think I can read italian?
Brady: Oh, I'm so sorry. I printed it off the web. I forgot.
Nicole: Oh, you read italian?
Brady: Enough. Yeah.
Brady: It was chloe's world debut last night.
Nicole: And it went...
Brady: Very well.
Brady: Uh, it says, "the inaugural production of cecilia marin's opera company, last night's 'die fledermaus,' was, uh, was noteworthy," I guess it says. "Chiefly for the debut of one signorina chloe lane, who did not miss one note in her performance as adèle the crafty chambermaid."
Nicole: And you're upset?
Brady: No, not because of the review... when chloeeft, we didn't officially break up. I just gave her the space she needed...
Nicole: To spread her wings and fly, right?
Nicole: But wasn't it more like you pushed her out of the nest?
Brady: I guess a part of me just thought that she was going to call me, tell me how she was, how things were going.
Nicole: Share her shining moment with you, who made it all possible, thank you for the tremendous gift that you gave her. Well, you thought she'd come back. And I guess now you realize that you've lost her forever.
Rex: Mimi asked me so many times to come see you, but I waited too long. I just kept turning my anger on her, even though I was never really angry with her. I just kept hoping it would gawaway.
Marlena: Why didn't you come see me sooner?
Rex: I'm used to taking care of problems myself. But I guess in a relationship you have to give up some control, not that I have any control over anything right now.
Marlena: You know that most people feel that way, most of the time?
Rex: I know, but all I want is just --
Marlena: What do you want? You want to be back with mimi, don't you?
Philip: I'll stay away from rex, if somebody else is assigned to this case.
John: We're monitoring the situation if it warrants further action.
Philip: There is no "if" about it, john.
John: You don't have any evidence. So just back off, go home, and chill out.
Philip: No, I'm not going to chill out, not until you tell me the truth. Why don't you want the dimeras exposed, john?
Cree: Mr. Roberts? Are you still there?
Lucas: Yes. Now, you have security cameras in operation, I assume.
Lucas: Did you get photos of the man and the woman?
Cree: The woman, definitely. We've got it on tape.
Lucas: Well, good. I'm going to need to review those. But right now you're going to fax me a still shot of the woman so I can identify them.
Cree: Why should I do anything for you when you make threats against us?
Lucas: You know, right now your options aren't looking too good.
Cree: Neither are yours.
Lucas: Do you really want to second-guess the dimeras? Do you? You have any idea what would happen to you? You get me that fax.
[ Hangs up ]
Lucas: Bless you. You're going to need a lot of these. Not that there are enough blessings to cer you, not when you keep playing these stupid, stupid games, sami.
John: Philip, for a long time, I had a single-minded determination to bring down the dimeras. Didn't serve any of us especially well. So I adopted a more judicious approach. And I suggest you do the same. Believe it or not, my only concern in this whole matter is your physical well-being. Now, you've got a lot of different ways you can make a difference. I suggest you use them. On the lighter side, I understand that you are going to be modeling tomorrow in the basic black charity fashion show.
Philip: Well, belle asked me to. Unless you want me to back out of that, too.
John: Of course not. It's a good cause. And we're the good guys, right?
John: I'm gonna see my wife. See you tomorrow.
Rex: I do want mimi back. And I tried. But she doesn't want me, not the way I am.
Marlena: Rex, you told me she said that you should come and talk to me. That must mean she cares about you. Now, whatever's going on, I think we should call dr. Jaynes and have him do a complete physical work-up on you. Just so we can rule out any medical reasons for your symptoms. This could be something so simple. And whatever it is, well, getting help is the first step.
Rex: If I get better, do you think mimi will take me back?
Marlena: I don't know. I can't guarantee it. But you can't risk your health on it. Come on. We'll take this one day at a time, okay?
Rex: I better go.
Marlena: Rex, wait a minute. Let me write down dr. Jaynes' phone number for you.
Rex: Why? He can't help me. No one can. I don't know why I even thought -- it's too late for me.
Marlena: Rex, no!
Rex: It's not just that I've lost mimi. That's bad enough. But the things I've said to her -- what if she tells people -- the world -- my secrets?
Marlena: Your secrets? What --
Sami: Lucas, are you threatening me?
Lucas: Sami, why don't you just leave things alone, huh? Why do you have to eavesdrop on my phone conversations?
Sami: Because you seriously need my help. Lucas, you just lost everything that tony has worked for.
Nicole: Brady, you practically forced chloe to leave. What did you expect, that she'd still love you? Oh, wait. You still love her no matter what, right? And you're going to put your whole life on hold for her, which is just what y d didn't want her to do for you.
Brady: Nicole, you don't understand.
Nicole: No, I don'T. I-I'm sorry if I'm not making you feel better, brady. I -- I know I'm not the best person for you to pour your heart out to, since I've never been in love. Well -- I meani I thought once, but it wasn't -- not really, I -- not ever.
Brady: Not even with my grandfather?
John: Oops. I'm sorry. I, uh, should have knocked. I'll, uh, come back later.
Rex: No, no, it's okay. I need to get going.
Marlena: Rex, wait a minute. Hi, honey. Um, I want you to take this. Stop by the nurses' station, and please make an appointment.
Rex: You know I've had every body scan, every test known to man less than a year ago. If there was really a problem --
Marlena: Well, well, let's just make sure, okay?
Rex: And if not?
Marlena: We'll go from there. I will be right here for you, all right? I promise. And I love you. I love you. You call me a hundred times, okay?
Rex: Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow at the fashion show.
John: That's a fact, rex. So, what was all that about? Ahh... doctor-client confidentiality, right? Wait a minute. He's not your patient. What he is is my stepson and my nephew. So, is he sick?
Marlena: Maybe. He had a complete work-up recently, so I don't think the problem is physical.
John: "The problem"? What problem? Come on. I'm worried about him.
Marlena: I know. I am, too. He's having severe headaches, he's having mood swings so intense that mimi has broken off their relationship.
John: Yeah, that's too bad. Um, listen, I don't want to step erer the line, but I thought I heard him say something about secrets.
Marlena: Yeah. I get the feeling that rex is not being completely forthcoming with me, either. He's just being eaten up inside.
John: Well, look on the bright side. He came to you. He knew he needed help.
Marlena: Mm. All my children -- sami, cassie, and now rex -- I really hope I can help them.
Lucas: You're going to help me? Really? A receptionist? I'm second in charge at an international conglomerate, sami.
Sami: You mean crime syndicate. You don't need a harvard degree for that.
Lucas: Do you even have a high school degree at all? Why don't you just butt out?
Sami: Hey, I am not stupid, lucas. Look, you're just upset because you -- you know, you're in all this trouble. Don't take it out on me.
Lucas: You know what? I have a lot of work to do. The last thing I want to do right now is talk to you, really.
Sami: Yeah, well, you have to figure out how you're going to out-manipulate this guy cree.
Lucas: From you, the master manipulator? What, are you going to give me tips?
Sami: Oh, please. You have plenty of experience lying and scheming yourself. So, how are we going to fix this? Ical peel,
Woman: Thank you. All right, they squeezed you in a week from wednesday. 10:30 A.M. Dr. Jaynes is on the second floor. You should fast from midnight the day before.
Rex: All right, thanks.
Rex: Philip, what's up?
Philip: Hey. That's what I wanted to ask you.
Celeste: Oh. Oh, I'm sorry.
Lexie: Mom? Are you all right?
Celeste: Uh... uh, yes, yes, yes, darling. I just thought I'd come out and get some fresh air.
Lexie: Well, are you ill?
Celeste: No, no, no, darling, I -- I just had the strangest feeling.
Lexie: You mean like a psychic feeling?
Celeste: Yes, yes.
Abe: Come on. Let's go inside, huh?
Lexie: Yeah, yeah, let's go inside. Mom, you look like that feeling scared you to death.
Celeste: Darling, it was just -- it was just oppressive.
Lexie: What was it about?
Celeste: I don't know. It was so very vague.
Lexie: Oh, my god. Theo.
Celeste: Oh, no, no, darling, please, no. Don't wake him. I just got him down again. He's fine. He's fine.
Abe: Come o c celeste, tell us what happened.
Celeste: Well, I was looking at those beautiful family photos, and I turned the page, and -- and suddenly I was hit with this feeling. I opened the door for some fresh air, I saw the two of you, and it went completely away.
Lexie: Do -- do you think it was about tony?
Celeste: Tony? Why would it be?
Lexie: Mom, you were looking at family photos. Tony is my brother. He's so sick right now --
Celeste: No, darling, no. I don't think it has anything to do with the dimeras.
Lexie: Mom, I'm a dimera! Theo is a dimera! Of course he's a carver, too, but -- look, mom, I just want to know if he's safe.
Celeste: Of course he's safe, alexandra. Look, he took ouounces. Now there's 12 left in the fridge. He had a diaper change, too. He's set, darling.
Celeste: And listen, I want a copy of those adorable baseball pictures.
Lexie: Yeah, I just e-mailed them to you today.
Celeste: Ah, well, thank you very much. So, listen, are we on for tomorrow?
Lexie: Yeah, yeah, great. Mom, why don't you let abe drive you home?
Celeste: Oh, alexandra, don't be silly, darling. I have my car. Besides, I can take care of myself.
Lexie: I know you can, but -- please?
Celeste: Oh, darling, come here. I love you
Lexie: I love you, too.
Abe: Goodbye, celeste.
Celeste: All right, darling. Mmm!
Lexie: You be careful.
Celeste: I will. You too. Good night, darling.
Lexie: Here's your purse.
Celeste: Ahh. Thanks. All right.
Lexie: Honey, uh, why don't we tiptoe upstairs and check on theo? I've missed him all day.
Abe: Me too. Come on.
John: Keep your eyes closed.
Marlena: They're closed, they're closed. Where'd you go? Where'd you go?
John: Keep your eyes closed.
Marlena: [ Laughs ]
John: All right, open your eyes. God...
Marlena: Oh, my goodness.
Marlena: What have you done here?
Marlena: John, you were at the hospital with me. How did you get all this done?
John: I had my ways.
Marlena: My international man of mystery.
John: Tell me something, doctor.
John: When is the last time that you and I had a night alone together? I said, when is the --
Marlena: I'm thinking, I'm thinking.
John: Well, at the moment, my caseload has been considerably lightened.
Marlena: Mm. It's because you're not spending so much time investigating tony.
John: I know you still have concerns in that area. Those concerns are being heard loud and clear. We are not turning a blind eye to them, I promise you, but tonight is for you... and only you... and me. I love you.
Marlena: I love you.
Lucas: We? No. No, no "we." I have already taken care of the situation, sami?
Sami: Yeah, I was listening on the phone, and it didn't sound to me like you have anything under control.
Lucas: Why do you care?
Sami: Because if tony finds out that you lost all his money, he's gonna --
>>Ucas: Look, money doesn't make the world go 'round, all right? It comes and it goes. That's the first thing you learn in big business.
Sami: That is easy for you to say, mr. Heir apparent. But it's always better if it doesn't go, especially when you're in charge, right? Okay, maybe money doesn't make the world go 'round, but it certainly makes it go 'round a whole lot more pleasantly. I I can say that. I'm the blue collar receptionist. Brady and belle are going to inherit the alamain fortune, carrie and eric have these really great jobs, and I'm just --
Lucas: What? You're just what? I thought you were this big-time investor. What happened?
Sami: Hey, I took classes at salem U., And I got a 4.0, thank you very much. I'm doing very well, especially considering how the market's been. I just didn't have a lot of capital to put in.
Lucas: So that's your goal? To become a woman of independent means, huh?
Sami: Yeah. To be respected and envied
p powerful men everywhere.
Lucas: You mean a powerful man like tony, right?
Tonight on global national... there's been one death so far. Last year there were 18. But the next few days will determine if we've put west nile virus behind us. Is it too early to feel better about being outdoors? On global national tonight.
[ Romantic music playing ]
Abe: [ Laughs ]
Abe: Ah, yes. Mmm.
Lexie: Mmm! Honey, I hope that my mom didn't upset you.
Abe: Absolutely nothing could upset me right now.
[ Both chuckle ]
Abe: Ahh, mm...
Lexie: I came so close to losing everything. I hate to admit this, but every day I think to myself, I don't deserve you.
Abe: Oh... hey.
Lexie: I love you so much.
Abe: Ah, I love you so much. Let's get ready for bed, huh? Ha ha. Let me... snuff the candlelight. Ha ha ha ha. Come with me.
[ Laughs ] Ahh... and now, my dear...
Abe: Darling, to bed.
Lexie: To bed!
Abe: Ha ha ha ha. Whoa!
[ Both laughing ]
Nicole: I thought I loved victor.
Nicole: Things changed.
Brady: That's exactly what he said.
Nicole: Did he? I don't suppose he mentioned why.
Brady: No, he didn'T.
Victor: You forfeited all your rights when you indulged yourself with that sordid little coupling with colin.
Nicole: Victor, you're not making any sense.
Victor: Oh, but I am. You see, you just don't want to hear it, and I don't blame you, nicole. Because your life is going to become very hard.
Nicole: I can't even begin to explain it to you.
Brady: Well, I wouldn't ask you to do that. And, hey, I'm sorry if I upset you.
Nicole: I should go to bed.
Brady: All right. Good night.
Nicole: Brady... I didn't mean to sound as snide as I probably did. I actually admire what you did.
Brady: What's that?
Nicole: Sacrificing your future for someone else. You gave chloe everything, and you didn't ask for anything in return. I mean, you wanted it, but... you put chloe first... second, third. And, uh, I hope that someday you find a woman who will do the same for you, and that you won't wind up apart in the end.
Nicole: Good night, brady.
Philip: How's your dad doing?
Rex: About the same.
Philip: I'm sorry. You might not know this, but my dad, he had a stroke, and he was in a nursing home for a long time when I was a kid, so I know how hard the waiting can be.
Philip: And I just wanted to let you know that my dad got better, and I hope tony does, too, okay?
Rex: Thanks. Well, I, uh, I'll see you tomorrow, right?
Rex: Yeah, basic black fashion show.
Philip: Oh, belle asked you to model, that's right.
Rex: Right. Good night.
Philip: You are such trouble, right in the middle of everybody's life. But not for long, rex. No, you're going right where you belong, and so am I.
Sami: No, it's not about tony. Look, I just want to be financially independent so that no one can ever control me again.
Lucas: No one's ever been able to control you, sami.
Sami: I just mean that I want to have power over my own life. I'm tired of letting myself get run over.
Lucas: Letting yourself?
Sami: You wanted to see me hurt.
Lucas: I never wanted that accident to happen.
Sami: Look, lucas, I just mean that I think our son deserves to have a mother who's proud of who she is. I should be able to give him the things that he needs.
Lucas: Sami, will has everything he needs, all right? Look, I've been rich, and my life was a lot harder then.
Sami: Oh, don't give me a sob story about how being rich is a hardship. You decided to come here and work for tony dimera. Don't be a hypocrite.
Lucas: Yeah, well, money isn't everything, all right? There are other things in life that -- well, for you and will that can make you guys happy other than money.
Sami: Like what? Um...
Lucas: Like --
Sami: Nothing. You know what? Never mind. I'm getting tired, and it's getting late, and I have to get my beauty sleep for the big fashion show tomorrow.
Lucas: Beauty sleep?
Sami: Don't say a word.
Lucas: What? I was just gonna say --
Sami: N-- shh! I'm serious. I'll just see you tomorrow, lucas.
[ Door closes ]
Erin: Excuse me, mr. Roberts. We just got a fax for you.
Lucas: From cree? Oh, my god. Oh, man. Leave it to my cousin the bounty hunter. Why, hope? You and your macho man, you had to ruin everything for everybody.
[ Cheering ]
Woman: And here are our models...
[ All shouting ]
Lucas: Part of my job is to make my boss look good.
Bo: It doesn't hurt that his boss is in a coma.
Belle: Oh, my god! Aah!
