Kate: The tape here comes the tape here comes the tape [Laughing] and not only does it document the ruination of the wedding, but it provides you enough evidence that you can get your son back where he belongs! And the little vixen doesn't even know what's coming. [Laughs]

Sami: Okay, well, the numbers are still holding on. How long will Lucas wait before he realizes that the tape's not coming? And then he'll have no idea where to go, and I win.

Man: You wouldn't by any chance be Austin Reed?

Roman: No, I'm not, but I know him real well, so I'd be happy to sign that, see that he gets it.

Man: Ah, thanks, but I have to attempt delivery to the address on the label or else.

John: Don't tell me you're going to New York City, too. Aw, come on! All my kids are leaving me, aren't they?

Brady: Hey, Dad, I'm almost 21 years old. I think it's time I got out on my own, don't you think?

John: So where are you going? Hmm?

Brady: Take a look.

John: Are you serious? This is what you want to do?

Brady: You know, when Belle started to take a look at colleges, it got me thinking about why I left my plans on hold all these months. I've wanted to do this for so long, Dad. I think it's time.

Philip: Come on, come on, come on. Hey, Jane, what's up? It's Philip Kiriakis. Did you get an apartment for me yet? Yeah, yeah, the village is great, but I need to be on the West Side -- Lincoln Center, Juilliard -- that neighborhood. Yeah. Yeah. That would be great. Chloe, hey!

Chloe: I hate you!

Philip: What was that -- what --

Chloe: Don't call me, don't try to talk to me, and I never want to see your lying face again!

Philip: Wait, wait, wait! Hey, what's going on?

Chloe: You have two seconds to get your hands off me.

Philip: Would you like to tell me what I did? I didn't do anything! What are you talking about?

Chloe: Oh, right, that's what you keep telling me -- you didn't do anything. You and Cynthia on that surveillance video was really nothing to you.

Philip: God, you saw it?

Chloe: Yes, I saw it. I saw the video, Philip. Now let go of me!

Belle: Shawn, I don't have time for this, okay? Chloe needs me.

Shawn-D: Yeah, yeah, you're a real good friend, aren't you?

Belle: What is your problem? It's like I told you this morning, okay? Stay out of my face, stay out of my life.

Shawn-D: I guess you thought that I wouldn't find out.

Belle: Find out about what? What are you talking about?

Shawn-D: That you killed Jan's baby.

Belle: Her baby? Shawn, what happened? Is this why you were at the hospital this morning? I am so sorry. But why would you say that it's my fault?

Shawn-D: How can you act like you don't know? You know what happened. Now I do, too. But for some weird reason, I just need to hear you say it. So admit it. Admit what you did.

John: 2-bedroom. Mm-hmm. Upper floor. River view. Mm.

Brady: Mm-hmm.

John: Way to go, son. You are very decisive. However, I do think there are a few variables out of your control.

Brady: Dad, if you don't think that this apartment --

John: If you think I'm going to give you a raise...

Brady: I'm not asking for your help. I'm all grown up, and I've been in your house way too long.

John: Yeah, well, it's been fun having you there... lately. Marlena will tell you the same thing.

Brady: Dad, Marlena's a shrink. She'll also tell you that it's time for me to leave the nest.

John: Oh, come on. Both my kids leaving at the same time? It's a double blow.

Brady: Hey, you just renewed your vows. Think of this as a honeymoon.

John: I'm gonna miss you, buddy. Come on. At the same time, I -- I think it will be good for you. However, I don't know how you're going to swing living in a place like that. I kind of like my kid to be able to eat, you know?

Brady: Dad, have some faith that your kid inherited some business sense.

John: Yeah, coming from the kid who blew his savings on a fancy set of wheels.

Brady: I'm planning to trade down.

John: Yeah, well, I think y-- I think I've got a better idea.

Brady: What, are we going somewhere?

John: You ever hear of the road of life? You drive.

Philip: Chloe, this is exactly what I was afraid was going to happen.

Chloe: Don't tell me you were trying to protect me.

Chloe: The way that you were kissing and holding each other.

Philip: I know how it looked, but I swear to you --

Chloe: You swear what, that it didn't happen? I saw it!

Philip: How? Why? Belle promised she was getting rid of that video! Oh, my God, it was Brady. He found it, didn't he?

Chloe: What?

Philip: He would do anything to break us up, Chloe. He found that video and gave it to you, didn't he? Because he wants you all for himself.

Belle: I don't know what you're talking about. Shawn, I am sorry that a baby died, but sometimes these things happen. It's not like I wanted it to.

Shawn-D: Are you saying that you didn't go over to my house and start a fight with Jan?

Belle: I did go to your house, but I was looking for you. I wanted to make sure you were okay after Brady... anyway, I didn't know Jan was going to be there. How was I supposed to know you moved your pregnant girlfriend into your house?

Shawn-D: She's not my -- she's not pregnant anymore.

Belle: Shawn, I know you're upset, and I admit Jan and I did argue. And if her getting upset had anything to do with what happened, then I am sorry.

Shawn-D: You have a scratch on your face, okay? I'd say it's more than just arguing.

Belle: I don't want to sound like I'm blaming her or anything, but does she have a scratch on her face?

Shawn-D: You don't want to blame her? You left her there on the floor. You walked away. You didn't do anything, and a baby died. I will never forgive you for that.

Lucas: I don't know where this delivery guy is. I mean, he pulled up like forever ago. And you know what? I don't care how courteous they were to call ahead. I'm not tipping him. Forget it.

Kate: Honey, listen, I know you're used to servants opening the door, but it isn't customary to tip an overnight courier.

Lucas: Oh.

Kate: Oh, my God.

Lucas: What? What?

Kate: You know, my secretary days were a long time ago, but I don't ever remember a courier service calling ahead about a delivery, which means the voice on that phone was...

Lucas and Kate: Sami!

Sami: Well, Lucas, this is what you get for ruining my wedding. I may have lost Austin, but you and your mother are never, ever going to get my son.

Roman: Oh, right. Um, I assumed you'd go to Austin's place, but, uh, yeah, I guess this is the address he would have put down. Look, this is my daughter's apartment. She and Austin would be on their honeymoon right now, but they didn't make it past the altar. So, I'll tell you what. I would guess that, that's a wedding present, and I'm here to cart all those off, so I really don't think that's something she needs to see right now. So, look, you did your job, door to door. Why don't I take that from you? I'll make sure it gets sent to Austin's new address.

Man: Just I'm not supposed to --

Roman: Look, I, uh, I'm a cop, okay? I'm not here to steal anything. I'll sign for it. I'll give you my card.

Man: Uh...

Roman: All right?

Man: Okay, okay. And... I appreciate it.

Roman: Okay. All right, there you go.

Man: Okay, thank you, officer.

Roman: Thank you.

Man: Okay. Thanks.

Roman: Take care. 34? Sami's in 32.

Sami: Dad. I thought I heard your voice out here. Is that for me?

Roman: All right, Sami, what the hell are you up to now?

Chloe: Brady doesn't know anything about your despicable video. Do you think you'd still be standing here if he did?

Philip: I'm not afraid to fight him for you.

Chloe: Well, Philip, that's not an option.

Philip: I just don't understand how this happened.

Chloe: It was an accident. Belle didn't mean to watch it.

Philip: Belle saw it?! Oh, and then she thought it would be a good idea for you to see it then, too, huh? Is that what happened?

Chloe: No! No, she was appalled at it, which she tried very hard to hide from you, which she was unable to. And now that I've seen it, can certainly understand why.

Philip: God.

Chloe: You know, you can blame Belle, you can blame Brady, and you can blame me for watching the damn thing, but you were the one who was with Cynthia and then lied about what happened. Once again we see what a selfish, spoiled, dishonest, immature person you are. I can't believe I ever thought that you might be the guy that I needed!

Cynthia: Why don't you rewind to that part about me and him doing it? I'm pretty sure that's when you got everybody's attention, and I'd be more than willing to act it out for you while you rant, Chloe.

Chloe: I don't know why you want him, but if my cast-offs make you happy, then he is all yours. You guys truly deserve each other. The show's over, people! It's all over!

Brady: Dad, this place is ancient.

John: Post-World War II with upgraded amenities and a hell of a lot of character.

Brady: All right, fine, semi-ancient. Not exactly the most happening neighborhood, either.

John: Well, now, that's what you had those fancy wheels for, son. Only two minutes to downtown.

Brady: Why do you have a key?

John: Well?

Brady: It feels... I want to say familiar. But I don't know why. But you do.

John: So do you. You just don't remember. But you can feel it. I can tell.

Brady: I've been here before.

John: This is where we brought you after you were born, your mother and I. This is where we all lived together.

Belle: How can you think that I just left Jan there? I thought that you knew me. Then again, I thought I knew you, too, and you went and slept with Jan and made a baby.

Shawn-D: Oh, you're relieved there isn't going to be a baby, aren't you? If you wanted to get back at me, why didn't you just hurt me?

Belle: Shawn, listen to me. As much as I did not think being a teenage father was a good thing for you right now, I certainly would never wish for an innocent baby to die! Whatever Jan said, please just forget it for a second and let me tell you my side.

Shawn-D: Your side?

Belle: The truth. Yes, I told you, Jan and I argued, but that's not why I went over there. She went after me and lost her balance and fell. That was all. I never touched her. You look like you don't believe me.

Shawn-D: Well, how'd you get that scratch if you never touched her?

Belle: After Jan fell, I tried to help her up, but she didn't want me to, and she scratched me. That's how I got this.

Shawn-D: So you just left her there.

Belle: No, Shawn, she got up herself.

Belle: And I am sorry to make it sound like Jan made all of this up, but I don't know where this is coming from. And I want you to know the truth. You do believe me, don't you?

Shawn-D: I believe that you're lying.

Belle: This is not happening. You are not taking Jan's word over mine.

Shawn-D: Do you think I want to? All I know is two things -- one, that you had a fight with Jan, and two... that the baby's dead. I understand why you might think it would be easier to protect yourself with a lie, but why would Jan lie about this?

Belle: I don't know, Shawn! But let me ask you one thing. Have I ever lied to you, even about something small? Just because you were the one that thought lying was acceptable in our relationship --

Shawn-D: Don't. No, don't.

Belle: I'm trying to understand this, because you are accusing me of something terrible that I did not do! If I thought anything was wrong, I would not have left Jan there. But she was on her feet yelling at me.

Shawn-D: She said that she was scared of you.

Belle: Me?

Shawn-D: And when you left, she passed out. By the time my Dad got there and found her, it was too late.

Belle: I understand why you're so upset. You really do think you lost your baby because of me.

Shawn-D: All I wanted to do was to give him a chance. This is a little baby whose life should have meant something, even if no one else wanted to be bothered. And now, all that is gone. I gave up everything to help out this baby, and all that's gone, too. Everything I ever cared about, Belle.

Belle: Everything you cared about is not gone. And what do you mean, you gave all of this up for the baby? There are a lot of people who love you. Your parents didn't disown you. You gave up on us. That is all. And you can't blame anyone else that you got Jan pregnant and you had to live with the consequences. You were the one who decided to sleep with Jan.

Shawn-D: No, I didn't.

Belle: What?

Roman: Sami, how did Austin's number get on your door, and how did yours get on his?

Sami: Oh, my gosh. I wonder how long it's been like this. I haven't noticed. Well, the maintenance guy said that they were going --

Roman: Samantha Jean, don't lie to me, all right? What is in this package you want so badly?

Sami: Well, Dad, um, it's my engagement ring.

Roman: Your ring?

Sami: Yeah. I, um, I took it off in the bride's room after Austin left.

Kate: How the hell did he get it?

Lucas: Look at this right here. Look.

Kate: She is evil. How did she even know the package was coming here?

Lucas: I don't know, but does it matter now?

Kate: Come on.

Sami: Well, when I went to the front desk to report the ring lost, they said that they'd already found it and over-nighted it to Austin.

Lucas: What a load of bull.

Kate: Just let me handle this.

Sami: What do you want?

Chloe: Oh, what's wrong with me?

Philip: Chloe. Hey, listen -- Chloe? Chloe, are you all right?

John: You know, I never consciously decided to keep this place. Actually came close to selling it several times, but... something always stopped me.

John: 21 years.

Brady: And how many gray hairs is that?

John: Each and every one has your name on it, kid.

Brady: What's wrong? What are you doing?

John: I remember when we brought this home. Your mom found it in a little shop. I asked her, I said, "what do you want this thing for? It doesn't go with any of our stuff here, and you don't even like the color green." And she said, "yes, but the house will."

Brady: "The house will"? What does that mean?

John: Son, I'd like to try to explain to you your mother's view. She always told me that you start with something purely physical -- a living place. Now, Izzy B., she inherited this loft from a long line of friends who lived here before her, but we -- we made it our home. And we... [Sighs] we just, uh, we had a lot of special moments here, let's say. Anyway, she believed that there was a dimension to living that was spiritual, and over time, it kind of became something outside of time, something -- her words -- transcendent.

Brady: Well, Mom was always ahead of her time, right? I mean, all we talk about these days is the whole Feng Shui thing, right?

John: She had to be ahead of her time, son, because I believe she understood that she was condensing the rest of her life into the short years we had here. Even though we went through a lot of sad, hard times, our happiness is as much a part of this place as the furniture. You know, maybe that's why it was so hard for me to stay here after we lost her. But... it feels right now.

Brady: Dad, what are you saying?

John: It's time for you to find your own happiness here, Brady. I think that's why I never sold the loft. It's for you.

Brady: Dad --

John: And I'm really curious to see what the hell you're going to do with this place.

Brady: [Sighs] Thank you. Thank you. I-I appreciate this, but... I can't live here.

Kate: Lucas is right, Sami. That package doesn't belong to you. It's Austin's.

Sami: Look, Dad, I realize that the package has Austin's name on it, and I didn't think you'd like the idea of me keeping the ring, but it is mine. It's certainly none of Lucas or Kate's business if you decide to give me the package.

Roman: Sami, what's going on here?

Kate: The ring belongs to Austin, and Sami has committed mail fraud by having the package delivered to the wrong address.

Sami: It wasn't the mail. It was an overnight courier.

Kate: Oh, please! Now, do you really want to be forced to arrest your own daughter? I mean, what we could do here -- if you give the property, my son's property, to me, we'd be willing to forget about the whole thing.

Sami: Dad.

Belle: You didn't want to sleep with Jan?

Shawn-D: I-I meant... that I didn't want things to turn out this way.

Belle: Neither did I. This must be so hard for you to deal with, especially on top of everything that's going on with J.T. But the way you are treating me --

Shawn-D: Whoa, hold on. You know about J.T.?

Belle: Know what?

Shawn-D: Well, it looks like we're going to lose him.

Belle: Oh, Shawn.

Shawn-D: Yeah, the judge yesterday granted Glen shared custody. But, you see, the funny thing is that, that's just until J.T. gets used to his new family, because then they get full custody, and the Reibers are moving off to Iowa.

Belle: I am so sorry. I can't believe this is happening.

Shawn-D: Yeah, yeah, I lost them. In one day -- just like that. First my little brother, and then the baby.

Belle: I can't imagine how you feel. You are the best brother. And if I had anything to do with what happened to your baby, I am so, so sorry.

Shawn-D: No. Belle, you're wrong.

Belle: About what happened to Jan?

Shawn-D: No. About the baby.

Belle: What about the baby?

Philip: Come on, Chloe, let's sit down.

Chloe: Get away from me.

Philip: I am not leaving you like this. You're pale, and I can feel you shaking.

Chloe: What do you expect after what I saw? Excuse me for being a little upset.

Philip: That's all it is?

Chloe: That's all? Philip, if I were having a heart attack right now, I wouldn't want you to help me, okay? But as it is, your assistance is not required, nor is your continued presence, so goodbye.

Philip: All right, all right, hey! Maybe he wasn't the one who gave you the video, but you're doing this because of Brady. I know he keeps telling you we're wrong for each other, because he does want you, Chloe! Can't you see that? And let me just warn you. If you give him a chance, he'll do to you what you're doing to me. He'll break your heart.

Brady: Dad, this was really great of you, and I appreciate it, but...

John: Hey, hey, hey, it's fine. So, why don't you want to live here?

Brady: Look, it's weird, you know? My Mom lived here. I mean, physically actually lived here with you and me -- I mean, I can just see her, like, getting milk out of the fridge or heating my baby bottles on the stove. It's not like she didn't exist before, but... being here, living here, it's different. I don't know. I can't describe it.

John: Your mother would say, "transcendent." It's all right. I understand. I respect your decision. However, I don't think that it would remain... weird for long. I mean, this was your home. Hey, anyway, I mean, while we're here, you want to check the rest of the place out?

Brady: Yeah, sure, why not?

Brady: Impossible.

John: What is it, son?

Brady: I changed my mind.

John: You want to live here?

Brady: I have to live here.

Roman: The label on this package says "Austin Reed." He bought the ring. It's rightfully his.

Sami: Dad, look, please just listen to me.

Roman: Sami, I'm sorry. Look, I love you, but I know you're up to something I'm sure as hell not going to be part of. Ditto -- you two.

Kate: Oh, Roman, if you send it to New York, Austin's just going to send it back to me so I can return it to Salem Place.

Roman: Well, I guess he'll have to do that then, won't he? Now, look, Sami, this took way longer than I thought it was going to take so I have to come back and get the rest of this stuff, all right?

Sami: Dad, please wait.

Roman: Sami, it's done.

Sami: Dad, no! Come back! Dad!

Kate: Oh, God, you lying little bitch! Why did you make up that whole story about your engagement ring? You know exactly what's in that envelope. I just don't know how you know it.

Sami: Next time you shouldn't gloat so loudly about how you're going to get me, which you're not going to do, by the way, because I won't let you.

Kate: We are going to get you this time, and with the words from your lying mouth!

Sami: I'll die before I let that happen. And unfortunately for you, I'm not anywhere near dying. Now get out!

Chloe: Why is it always about putting down Brady when you're the one who did something wrong? I broke your heart? You're the one who keeps bringing me to this awful place over and over again. And I can't pretend like it's ever going to get better. In fact, it just keeps getting worse. I repeat, Philip, it's over... for now and for all time.

John: So, what changed your mind?

Brady: I don't know. I feel like I... belong here somehow, you know? It's... it's, like, karmic.

John: Whoa, hold on, you're starting to sound like your mother.

Brady: So these deranged thought processes are genetic?

John: Yes, but the deranged part comes from my side.

Brady: Dad, do you see Mom and me?

John: All the time.

Brady: No, but really, there is something about this place.

John: Such as?

Brady: I don't know. I'll find out, right? Man, it's like everything in my life is changing all at once.

John: For the better, I hope.

Brady: Well, yeah, moving out is not exactly going to hurt my social life or anything.

John: Not at all. Let me tell you something -- the first wild party you have, I want you to remember whose name is on the deed and the neighbors still think of him fondly, I hope.

Brady: Oh, please, I'm not going to have any wild parties here...

John: Yeah, right.

Brady: Without inviting you.

John: Yeah, right. Thanks.

Brady: Dad, I really appreciate this so much.

Brady: So, what do you say we get back to work?

John: Mm, I suppose.

Brady: You know what my first party's going to be?

John: What's that?

Brady: It's going to be a painting party -- you know, where I supply the brushes and the paint, and everybody else brings the food, you know?

John: Ha ha ha! Your mother would be proud of you. Come on. [Locks door]

Belle: What do you mean I was wrong about the baby? Wrong about what?

Belle: Shawn, it might help for you to talk to me about this. I mean, really talk. I know that would help me.

Belle: I may not have the right to ask you this, but I would really like you to turn around and look at me and tell me that you at least believe I never meant to harm Jan or your baby, because it is hard enough to think that maybe I am partially responsible for what happened. I mean, if Jan really did collapse after I left --

Shawn-D: Unless you're going to call Jan a liar, then that is what happened.

Belle: I promise you, Shawn, I never would have left her unless I thought she was perfectly fine, and if I was wrong about that, I...can't say enough that I am so, so sorry. But I would never want to hurt you or Jan. And as hard as it may be to believe, it meant something to me that the baby she was carrying was yours. I'm sad that it's gone, too, because it was a part of you. Even after everything that we have gone through, I love you... still.

Shawn-D: I can't believe something just because I want to. It has to be true, and the truth is... that a baby is dead because of you. And I don't know how the hell I am going to live with that.

Belle: No.
